She is super nice but very soft spiken. I would take her again. You must study for her tests but she gives you a great review..take notes!
She is a very nice lady. Make sure you do her reviews for the tests (those help a lot, if u didn't take notes)
she is awsome.... made an A for macro and taking her again... no way a person can fail her class... alot of bonus points are given and the reviews are exactly what is on the test... i recommend anyone take her
Very nice and soft spoken lady, and funny at times. Very helpful, but not easy to get the full understanding of economics. Great with the curves and extra points. Listen carefully and study review inside and out!
She is not one of those teachers whose test is over lecture so be sure to make use of the review. Her questions tend to be random and specific, but she does give curves. :)
I was clueless in the class even though I took a lot of notes. Regardless, I still got a B! There are many chances to get extra points and she gives huge curves!
Good and fair teacher--gives a lot of bonus points/questions on the exams. A little difficult to take notes as she does not use the board a lot so it's hard to keep up with her rate of speaking. Can definitely understand her though and she gives out review sheets. Definitely would take her again.
Her class recquires a lot of studying. She tries to offer random extra credit to help people's grade. For example, if you do one easy problem and get it right, she'll add 5 pts to your test. Another time, we had to take notes over a movie and she gave us 5 pts. To save money, just buy the Macro Today book instead of the Economy Today
This lady is completely nutzzzzzzz...Her classes r BORING and BORING she aint a good instructor it seems her grading system works on students favor... I never ever study for her exams I didnt know how...But hey I still got a B...
She was so easy. Her lectures were really boring, but she gives so much extra credit and with the way that she grades her tests, which are completely multiple choice by the way, that it is impossilbe to fail her class.
Shes boring, but you will make a good grade without even trying, she gives like 30 pts for extra credit on the tests and curves the grades also!!
She's an incredibly boring teacher, but she's very nice. I winged all of her tests and managed to get an A somehow...
About as good as its gonna get for Econ. Its a boring subject to begin with, but with the million extra credit points and curves, you could go off to la la land and still get an A.
Ok this lady is a nice person, but horrible class. She is not very helpful you ask a question and she skirts around it. She offers alot of extra credit but its so hard to stay awake. Aplia is the dumbest way of doing homework.
She is one of the nices teachers you will find, she takes time out to answer all your questions and explains stuff throughly in class. If you can stay awake and pay attention you will do fine. econ is a pretty boring subject so she cant help but make u fall asleep. She provides awsome reviews for her tests,
She is a very nice and sweet lady. Yes econmics is boring but what do you expect. She trys to make you laugh in between with silly things, but she even says it is boring. Yes you have to do Aplia but she is not the only one doing it. She is fair and willing to help. She does give bonus questions and an Excellent review Pretty much to the "T" to test
Good teacher. Decent class, tests aren't that easy but she gives a good review and a lot of extra credit.
Extremely nice professor, extremely boring subject. She is very willing to help you out if you ask. I didn't need to crack the book much, just pay attention to the powerpoints and you'll be fine. She curves test grades and with good attendance she'll replace your worst test grade with your best. I'll be taking her again for Macro.
She is really nice. She is more than willing to offer her help if you ask.She even came to Starbucks, to help us study and review for tests a couple of times. She curves tests and replaces you're lowest test grade with you're best if you have excellent attendance. I am taking her again for Micro.
WORTHLESS. she doesnt teach at all just reads her power point. shes really nice but just a BAD teacher.
She is very reliant on her power points. She reads more then she teaches. When I ask her questions she seems to avoid them like she doesn't know the answer. The reviews are nothing like the tests. I recommend reading the book over listening to her. She is very nice just not that great of a teacher.
She was a great teacher.. Take notes in class. Her tests get curved and she gives bonus questions. She has tons of easy extra credit. I like her a lot. :)
You WILL fall asleep in her class. Your textbook will be your bible. Test reviews are very general, when it comes to the actual tests themselves. BUT do all the extra credit and pay attention to the quirky things she says in class, because they're on her tests as bonus questions. I slept in her class everyday, and managed a B+ in her class.
She is a horrible teacher that doesn't teach. She reads off of her pwoerpoints only. However, if you have three or less absenses she replaces your lowest test grade with your highest and she gives a lot of extra credit. I had to teach myself the subject from the book. The reviews are pretty general to while the tests are specific.Dont recomend her!
Horrible teacher!!!! reads straight off her power points your book is your teaching tool not her and when she speaks she sounds like she is talking to herself and not to the class tests are long she does give curves but overall i would say stay away from her
I wish I never took her class. I pass the class with B, thanks to myself. I do not recommend her at all.
Shes a really nice old lady. You really have to spend a lot of time to earn a B in the class. Reading the book, going over the lecture notes, and doing the aplia are essectial for passing the tests. She offers lots of extra credit so your sure to pass. Difficult but you WILL learn something in the end. She wasnt an easy A for me but I learned.
I don't know why people before me has said she doesn't teach, because she DOES teach, and she does know her material. She depends on the powerpoints to do it but it gives us a visual of what she is saying. Her class is not hard but you do have to work hard to get a good grade. She's very nice and is willing to help if you need it.
She's really nice. Her test is easy if you spent a little time learning.
Her tests cover a lot and you have to study. Not everything on the test is necessarily covered. She made a lot of fairly inappropriate jokes and can be offensive. She does not allow computers (she maintains that you will look up inappropriate content).
I disagree with extremely negative comments below. Put me off before I took her class, but now almost at an end of my course, she is not terrible. 3 or less abcences- u an drop 1 grade. Do Aplia, helps a lot, listen to the lectures,a lot of extra credit, study the reviews and you will do fine. As long as you are the studying material! Not an easy A.
i got an A and dont even know how. I made two b's on the exams but i did make an A on the aplia hw. Anyways, she's a very nice teacher and not rude in any way. Her style of teching is through ppts but if you pay attention and do the hw, all is good. You still have to study b/c some of the material you have to practice. But yeah... I reccomend her
You basically have to memorize her powerpoints to do well in class.. i got a 100 in her class but that was only because i seriously memorized all her powerponts prior to the exam! and the aplia is hard!! and very time consuming! i dont recommend her. its not a blow off class. and if you take her make sure you take alot of time to study!
As a student of hers in the past her class has weird impacts on people. Some of my peers who were very intelligent almost failed and others who did not care made an A. Econ is easy for some and hard for others. Now my recomendation. She really does care if you get to know her, so she is willing to help. Pay attention! Tons of extra credit. Take her
She was very help and answered questions as best she could. The classroom part I didn't have trouble with just study a little for the tests, I had trouble with the online homework though and it dropped my grade. Don't take if you're not willing to do homework
She talks alot during class and when it comes to the test her test are nothing like the review! you actually have to spend time studying the chapters yourself. she teaches by just reading the power points. DO NOT TAKE HER
Mrs. Blackburn was a very good teacher and made the material pretty easy to understand. However, there was A LOT of aplia homework which will make or break your grade. The reviews help a lot for the tests. I'd only recommend her if you are up to the task of working hard. You really have to work for an A but she gives a lot of extra credit.
She is a great teacher. She is kind of goofy, but she explains the material well. you need to pay attention in the class and really read the textbook. There are a lot of aplia assignments, but use her pp for help. She is very helpful if you have any questions. If I had to take Econ 1 and 2 again, i would definitely pick her.
Great teacher! As long as you do your homework and stay a chapter ahead in your book prior to her lecture you will get an easy A. She uses a heavy curve and gives lots of extra credit opportunities
She gives long lectures in class and goes through slides pretty fast not giving you a chance to write notes. She marks you Absent when youre clearly there on time. She makes cultural jokes all the time and acts silly in class. Her tests are so hard and you need to constantly study. Other than that shes great !
She uses a bunch of complicated metaphors to explain economic to us and it was super confusing to me. I'm a straight A student who loves math and science and I always study at home. I am also a Biology major but this class dropped my average down really bad that I don't even know if I can still get into meds school. Count you absent if u r tardy.
Professor Blackburn is a pretty nice person. However, her class is difficult. She will make weird analogies that you might not understand. You will have to study, study, STUDY. 2 or 3 days prior to the test. She teaches by lecturing and uses PowerPoint. I honestly didn't like her class at all because some of the material were NOT clear.
She is very confusing when she teaches. She tries to incorporate modern pop culture references into her lectures that end up not only confusing the whole class but also getting everyone off topic. I am a hardcore straight A student and I have to say I struggled quite alot.
Course is very clear: learnsmarts, assignments, and exams. She also saved me by giving me an extension on some of my work especially my last exam so if you take her and do the required workload, you'll make an A in this class easily. Would recommend and I am taking her again for my other ECON class
Great professor & class. Had a chance to visit her on campus & she was helpful. If ur rusty on basic math skills take the time to see a tutor. Read chapter before attempting Connect hmwk & Try & Get 100s on assignments (u have 3 trys) & u can get an A!
Professor Blackburn replies in a very timely manner and is understanding. I have already signed up for her class next semester and look forward to her emails! The instruction is very simple and upfront: do your LearnSmarts, do the assignments (you have 3 attempts), and take the tests. There are five tests total. Definitely not too hard!
I took Econ2301 online with Ms. Blackburn. She's very clear in the syllabus. You have to email her every week for "attendance" since it is an online class. DO the LEARNSMARTS!!!! its 50% of your grade and you can get a 100 on all of them. You have 3 attempts on chapter assignments. 5 exams. I would take her again.
I took this class online. If you do the work you should do fine. Tests are kind of hard but they are only 5% of your grade and there is 5. Participation thru connect is a must but it is pretty easy. If you email her she gets back to you pretty quickly and is very helpful and nice.
She has the learnsmart and it made it very easy to read. She was very helpful!
She is very nice and willing to help you out. Econ is tough but you can do good by doing the extra credit she gives out. Aplia is hard and there are many assignments on there. Tests are hard but if you do the review and practice test you will do fine. Plus she curves her test a lot.
She always responds in a VERY timely manner & is willing to help. I enjoyed emailing her this semester & last, she kept me motivated & she adds a bit of humor to her emails. The class is clear-cut; your Learnsmart are 50% of your grade!! They can be tedious, but they are completion grades. Follow the syllabus and do the work & this is a breeze.
Lectures are long with lots of information, you must take notes. She does her best to explain important things, sometimes better than others. the homework is online it's not very hard but you must do it. tests are tuff there's a lot of information on them. She gives reviews do them they help. over all not a great class but could have been worse.
I took Professor Blackburn for Summer mini and even though there was so much work she made this class a breeze. If you do your work everyday you will pass. Her test are not that difficult once you read the material. All work is done through Learnsmart. I wish I could take her again!
Her class is easy to pass and get an A. I am not an A student but she made it easy in the winter-mini course. To pass all you have to do is actually do your work theres no way to fail.
Ms. Blackburn is one of the best online professors I've had! Economics is a tough class, but Ms. Blackburn is more than willing to help and explain problems/answers to you other than simply referring you to what the book provides. Quite a bit of flexibility with due dates for assignments which was really beneficial for an online student.
I enjoyed this class! It was sorta hard but you learn so much! I took it online and you'd think you wouldn't learn but you do! I recommend this class! She's so helpful and always responds to emails!
This professor is a good lecturer, although some of the lectures can be a bit dull. Overall great class but the fact that everything was online in McGraw Hill made it seem like there was really no point in the classroom. Lots of videos to watch that'll cover pretty much all the material for the quizzes and tests. Overall decent professor.
100% online work using econnect. Gives you about a month to complete 3-4 chapters of HW & quizzes plus test. Do that 4 times over and thats the class. Read the book, pay attention in HW/assignments, and tests are manageable. Lots of grades so tests aren't everything which is great. No final. Econ is not my fave but made B's in both 2301 & 2302.
LOVE econ with this prof! Took 2301 and 2302 online and love the structure of these classes. Textbook use is through Connect. Lots of schedule flexibility with layout of course. Only difficulty of class is with the subject itself, econ. Easy to get feedback/extra help from prof through email. Highly recommended!
All of the work we had to do was online. There was no point into coming in to class at all.
I took her class for the Spring and I loved the videos that explained how Economic works. I would take her again in a heart beat. We had 4 exams plus homework. She has one extra credit assignment and weekly check -ins.
LOT of homework, easy though. Test are kinda hard, always responds to emails within a day.
This teacher was not bad at all. If we had questions on anything she would email us back within a few hours and I never had a prof like that. Overall the summer mini class consisted of 3-4 chapters due each week with 3-4 assignments each chapter. It sounds like alot but its not that bad. I honestly got a B on most of my tests but I got an A
She was amazing. Very attentive to your problems with the subject and gave extra examples if you ask for them in the weekly check in. Read and follow the PowerPoints and the class should be a brezze
She i very helpful when it comes to the coursework. She is willing to have you screen shot issues with things you dong understand and she can go through them with you. She is quick to answering emails. Never had to wait for more than half an hour to hear from her. Her grading is unique but it does make a lot more sense as you go.
I would take her again, had her for macroeconomics online. Program she uses is fantastic for learning and testing. She is quick to respond to emails and helping you understand the course work. Great class!
take her!
Lectures are long and very boring but if you don't pay attention you'll probably do poorly on the tests. Does however give extra credit that helps tremendously.
Professor Blackburn is an amazing professor. She responds very quickly and will help you out in any way. That being said, participation is MANDATORY and studying your chapters is a necessity. Not a blow off class in the least, but if you do your work and dedicate the time, it's an easy A/B+.
Prof. Blackburn is a tough teacher. Course is not very difficult, however she is not easy to work with. Zero understanding, and absolutely no willingness to assist if you have conflicts with her course. She is very cut and dry. If you are looking for a teacher that is accommodating she is not the teacher for you.
A bit disorganized, changed the due dates a few times. Relies only on online homework and textbook, so that's an extra $90. If you go to her office or email her about any questions or issues in class, she is quick to you down.
Professor Blackburn is a nice lady but I didn't agree with her teaching style. Didn't seem like she cared about us. Won't give you a second chance on missed grades.
Really enjoyed this class. She makes Economics more relatable and easier to understand by giving us current topics. She also gives a lot of extra credit including extra points for just coming to class. Shes also very funny but not too off topic. She will answer any question you have as well. P.S if you dont complete the homework it will effect u.
She did make Economics a little more relatable. Very blunt. Didn't care about students at all said some pretty offensive things. If you tried to ask her a question in class would dismiss you and not answer at all. Gives a lot fo extra credit opportunities. Hard grader, really have to keep up with connect assignments. Take her if you can keep up.
You're better off taking her totally online. She uses parts of her lectures in her exams so you should always go. Makes inappropriate jokes a lot. She does relate to real life situations to make it easier. All exams and homework is online. Better than most Econ professors.
She is a good professor, but she assigns a lot of out of class work. She also almost every class mentions something that is on the test. The test are online and open not, just show up and you should get at least a B.
She assigns you to a group on the first day of class that you work with for the entire semester on in class assignments. She teaches the content to a good extent, and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure you pass the class. If you show up, you should pass with ease. The test are online, timed, and open note. Just show up on time.
In my opinion, I did not enjoy this class. All of the homework, quizzes, and test were online. I wish I would have taken it online. There is really no point in going to class, but you have to be there. I had a friend who left only 30 minutes early and she was counted absent. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities though. Just not my fave.
She assigns videos, homework, and quizzes outside of class. These assignments aren't too terribly hard. DO them, and you will get a good grade.
One of the easiest classes taken. Although you have to buy "connect" for her class, however it's worth and helpful. Just keep on track with connect and do online tests with help of quizlet, an easy A is waiting for you.
She is such a great business major professor, she will email you back at anytime of the day. You can talk to her about anything and she will help you out in the best way possible. I am so happy I took this class in the summer macro2301 and micro 2302 online at the same time in June. it was a lot of work but it is do able and she makes it worth it.
Such an amazing teacher I rarely ever rate teachers on here but I wanted to let other students know she is the best economics teacher for online classes. I took her both her macro and micro at the same time. amazing teacher she will always help you with everything you email her about, talk to her. Especially for a summer class! best decision ever.
Took the class online. It is a basic online class and mostly self taught through video and interactive work. It is not difficult as long as you do the work.
This was a 5 week online class. Do the work and pay attention. It is all online and she is quick to respond to questions if any arise.
Worst professor ever. I would not take her again. She's hard to work with, and she does not care about her students. Everything is basically done online, she doesn't teach any material she expects you to learn it from the online textbook.
I took Professor Blackburn for my fall class. Her class was super easy, hw and quizzes super easy, she answers emails extremally fast. I would totally recommend her if you want an easy class. You might have to check via video chat but other than that super easy. You need to keep track of assignments bc sometimes she would not remind you.
Take the class online if you can! Her lessons dont make sense and test are super hard. 3-4 homework assignments per week. Common assignment required. Take another professor if you can.
I have a medical cond. that required me to use the bathroom once during an exam. Upon returning, she interrogated me in front of my classmates which was humiliating. I tried to explain my situation to her, but she wasn't receptive. I showed that I had left my phone behind, but she still pushed this narrative that I was being sneaky. Disappointing.
Professor Blackburn is a good Professor just lecture heavy, take notes no matter what! She does care about her students but if you dont ask for help you wont pass!
I took this course as a May mini online and it was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. It is a lot of work up front, I'll be honest. But set aside time and you'll be fine. It's especially beneficial because the professor is there to answer questions and help you through it. Stay committed, you'll get the A easily.
I was really enjoyed, Professor Blackburn. She was caring, answered every question within an hour, she always made me feel confident, and when I would email her about a question I was not sure about she would break down step by step. She is an amazing teacher, no questions, hands down. I strongly recommend her.
Took this course over the 5 week summer session and it was a great experience with Prof. Blackburn. A total of 13 topics are covered with 4 assignments each and 3 exams that consist of 60 questions each. She offers extra credit, helpful assistance, and she's there to help you when you need it. Easy and similar course if you've taken 2301 with her.
Great professor. Took this course online for a summer mini. A lot of work for a mini course but totally worth getting it done in 5 weeks instead of 15. Don't procrastinate! Easy A!
If you're someone who works 30-40 hrs a week I wouldn't recommend taking this class as there are so many assignments to do every week. She is lecture heavy. She uses Proctorio for online exams . THIS PROFESSOR DOES NOT PROVIDE REVIEWS FYI. She can be nice and helpful sometimes. Attendance is extra credit too.
I took this course fully online in an 8 week course. The professor had due dates each week of what homework was due. Although there was a lot of work it was easy to learn and keep up with.
Professor Blackburn offers extra credit, if you email every week as a daily check in; however, you have to email her any actual concerns you may have that week, not just a "Hi, I'm checking in." Oh and we had an exam per unit, (3 units), 4 chapters per unit, and about 4 to 5 assignments per chapter. Also the exams are monitored with PROCTORIO.
I took this as 3 week mini. Course was set up nicely, doable. Very fast paced. Exams are proctored. She allows a small page of notes on exams. She responds quickly to emails. Would recommend.
Had her for a 7am class but she was very engaging. Her lectures were clever and witty, with helpful phrases and tools to navigate the more complex econ concepts. All the homework was done through connect. Assignments were easy but took a while, so don't procrastinate. Uses articles in her lectures outside the textbook that are questions on tests!
The worst class I've taken. As a student I here to learn I understand that but time and time again the teacher shows to be uncooperative, demeaning, and just down right disrespectful. How and why she is still a teacher is a question we should be learning about. The amount of work is ridiculous, the lectures have little to nothing to with the tests.
So much homework! It really was just busy work. Expect to spend about 5 hours on homework or more per section. Cant lie I thought the amount of homework was ridiculous! And all the discussion boards were ridiculous also. Suggestion, take someone else if youre not wanting to spend hours in busy work!
Loved this teacher as an online mini. Had all the work laid out for us and was very good at responding to emails. Not sure why people say shes mean!
Amazing teacher. If you see her name next to a course TAKE HER!! Her attendance for online classes is a simple check email so she knows you are doing the work in a timely manner.
Relatively easy class. She used Mcgraw hill connect for textbook and all assignments. Only three tests but the homework was heavy. Lots of quizzes. She gave 200 points extra credit for checking in with her every week and offered several other EC opportunities as well.
Just know that her exams are proctored (not saying anything but yk what i mean). She gave us everything we were going to do at the start of the semester so be sure to prepare in advance as to not lose track of the huge amounts of work she gives.
I enjoyed my time in professor blackburn's class. i think it is a pretty good class as long as you don't slack off. if you have any questions she also responds pretty quick.
Great Professor! I took both ECON 2301 and ECON 2302 with her and the class was great.
Very nice lady, however, will not give an extension no matter the circumstance. So make sure that you have done everything accordingly. She is a very nice lady. Glad I took her this semester. (Beware of her grading system)
If you don't slack off on the homework, it is an easy A class. The professor is very nice but strict on deadlines.
Professor is amazing and probably one of the best I've taken so far. There is a lot of homework, but the assignments are open for you to complete as many as you can in one sitting. The attendance is a must by sending a weekly email to her stating where you are in the course. I would defiantly take her again.
It's an easy class if you just do the work. All exams are proctored, but you do get to use one page of notes.
the sweetest lady. offered over 600 points (an entire letter grade) in extra credit, homeworks weren't that hard and the tests were relatively close to the practice test. I would absolutely take her again. i loved this course
I enjoyed this class. Make sure you participate and you will more than likely pass.
