Good teacher/person. Workload is way too big unfortunately.

She actually cares about her students. A lot of work, but you learn to write.

Kinch is one of my favorite teachers. she is a little tough but she will get you through it and you will learn a lot with her. she is very personable

Pretty easy class. She wants you to spend a lot of money on her class, but the work is pretty easy.

Smart, I did learn a lot from her class,will offer any help as well, however, she does give a****load of homework, and expects you to spend a lot of money for assignments(like ordering wall street journal)etc..

One of most kind and loving people I have ever met, however, her classes can get frustrating. Tends to reuse stories over and over again, so if you've had her once, be prepared to read similar stories if you take her again. I recommend her classes for freshman, she knows her stuff.

I had Dr. Kinch for American Literature Survey I. I can honestly say I have not had such a loving, more kind person than her as a teacher. She gives a ton of work but is not afraid to help you. She is always more than willing to hear what you have to say.

she is a great lady, so understanding, and she really cares about her students and gets to know them! You will learn to become a better writer, or you will just get the dreaded red line! so you will learn to be better!

It may be overwhelming at first once you see the many "hand-out" she gives,but you have the opporitunity to learn much from this woman. Prof. Kinch is very well-read and she loves teaching, and it shows through discussions in class. I loved the class and wanted her for all my English courses because every aspect is covered.

Loved the class. It was SO overwhelming at first, but once you get into the groove of things it's not too bad. Make sure you're ready to discuss and really love to read. I learned so much from the class, but it was a TON of work. Fight Club is an amazing book to read. Loved the class.

She's such a sweet and funny lady! I enjoyed going to her classes, even tho yes the work is unbelievably hard and she overloads us with more work than you should get for just a 116 course. She loves to talk about books, you can tell it's her passion.

This sounded like such a great class until I found out we were reading the same books I read in high school. We analyze them the same way as well. The homework is horrible. I am doing 18 credits this semester and Im drowning in ENG 161 homework. I just hope to pass my other classes at this rate. I have no time to study for my other classes.

If you do the work, and can write, then take this one. although everyone hated her becuase she has opinions about everything i just sat there, listened, did my work and i have a B.

Dr. Kinch is a very good professor. She is very helpful. You just have to get up off your carcus and seek her out. She has to be one of the most caring professors I have had. Far be it from a student to actually put work into their education.

if you take her, 1)get ready to work your tail off 2)it really will pay off. slackers and idiots need to avoid her because you are too dumb to appreciate what she can teach you. This is a great primer for any writing in any class!

She is one of the kindest, straight forward, and nicest professor I've ever had the chance to take..... Ask her for any thing and she will go way out of her way to take care of you.... Definatly be prepared to work though.....

You'll work hard, but learn a ton! Helpful and fun. She wants you to get to know her as she wants to know you. Be honest and studious and ask for help as soon as you think you might need it. You'll do great!

Dr. Kinch is a great teacher. You will do alot of reading and journals and even a type of a research paper, but you will learn alot. If you hate work and reading you're done for.

Dr. Kinch is one crazy women. After leaving her class I'm always very overwhelmed and confused about what I have to do. Although i really like her; she is so nice and funny and I find her classes to be really helpful. You have to keep up with her and her assignments, but if you do you'll do fine.

Don't listen to the whining. A lot of work but it isn't hard at all if you keep yourself organized. My only complaint was that what we were assigned was glossed over pretty quickly during discussions and there were a lot of books I would have liked to spend more time discussing. Not the best class in the world but is good for an intro course.

One of my favorite profs of all time. She has a super-flexible mind and has some of the most insightful opinions. Her facial expressions and hilarious banter go way over many students' heads and she plays with that element making it very entertaining for people who get it. I would redo college all over again just to take her classes. Fun reading!

BE PREPARED TO WORK. She is a wonderful woman and teacher. She cares greatly about her subject and her students. Unfortunately for some, she actually wants students to work. Her work is not hard, just time consuming. I throughly enjoyed the classes I had with her. As long as you care about her, she'll be kind in return! She's even cut work loads b4

If you are in college to learn, she's the woman to teach you what's important. This class will define who you are, a hardworking student or a slacker. If you know you're a slacker, you may not want her reminding you of it daily. If you think you're hardworking, be prepared to prove it. Best class I've had so far. Well worth my time and effort.

Professor is professional, kind, and understanding. She sets the bar very high and expects very much. If for some reason you legitimately cannot keep up with the work, she will hear you out and work with you to make the class more suitable. I was overwhelmed at first, but soon realized how considerate and fun she is. My favorite professor yet.

The classes are very unorganized; they're full of rambling and tangents (very frustrating and it feels like a waste of time). There is a hefty amount of homework and essays while, throughout the semester, there is constant note-taking from the text-book. However, I have learned from her and she is very kind, understanding, fun, and passionate.

I will be honest: she is hard. She expects a high level of work and dedication from any class, but especially 300 level. She is also kind and willing to work with students who are having trouble. Tries to encorperate the "big picture", which is frutraiting to some. Class covered some excellent material. Be ready to work, and don't slack off at all.

Dr. Kinch gets a lot of negative comments, but I absolutely loved taking her. My writing improved 200% because of her English 101 class. Its been exactly one year since I've had her, but without her influence, I would be lost. Since I am a history major, writing matters for me, and this woman saved me.

Every person posting here that they loathed the class are absolute slackers, or freshmen. She expects actual work from you as an actual educator and an actual Fulbright scholar. Real is participation and work, which should be the standard. Love the class discussion; fresh and engaging. Emphasis on women's reading in any class you take with her.

This class with Dr. Kinch was the foundation of my future academic writing. (I have a Ph.D. now.) It taught me fundamentals of writing, refined my grammar and taught me how to pay FULL ATTENTION to formatting details. Dr. Kinch's selection of literature was thought-provoking and modern. Assignments were always presented with specific detail.
