EASY CLASS IF YOU JUST DO THE HOMEWORKS. EXPECT A LOT OF HW AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER BUT TAPERS OFF TOWARDS END. MS. K IS A NUT, BUT SHE DOES TAKE YOU OUTSIDE WHENEVER THE WEATHER IS GOOD. LOTS OF BIRDWATCHING TOO, WHICH YOU DON'T GET GRADED ON. JUST BE SURE TO DO THE HW AND STUDY=A+

Anyone who said this class was a waste of time didn't understand what she was trying to teach us. This class goes beyond just a science class, it's a life class. I recomend her 100% for anyone that wants to better themselves, their understanding of the enviroment, and how we fit in it.

She's a nut, it's her way or the high way but not a very difficult class as long as you do the 15 to 30 minute homework assignments and show up for class, not very understanding of student problems and makes you take all your tests in the testing center. You will learn if you are there though, and no lectures.

Clarity sets were a pain, but those were in place of labs. Kotash is a teacher who is genuinely concerned about helping our environment and with bettering ourselves. Seems mean at first, but thats to weed out the students looking for a slacker class. Takes us on mini-roadtrips/field trips!

If you do decide to take her class, you need to have an open mind and not be judgemental about her. She may seem mean at first, but she does this just to scare people away just so she can have a smaller class size. She is very free spirited and is very nice as long as you try in her class. If you don't give forth the effort, you won't do that well.

OK! The worst teacher in the world. I have taken CHM 131 AND BIO 111 and did better and those are much harder classes. She tells you what will be on the test and then u take the test and nothing of what she said is on it! SHE SUCKS if you want to fail then take her class. DO NOT TAKE KOTASH... and she is really rude and hates her students!

I think people forget why you go to school. You dont go to waste time, you go to learn and move forward in the game of life. She will push you futher than any other teacher, and that is why some poeple can take her and some are just too dumb to understand her train of thaughts. Easy teacher if you actually do your work

Kotash was honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. It is intimidating at first, but as the class goes on you realize she's just very passionate about what she does. Ishmael was a great book and taught me so many life lessons. Be patient because if you stay towards the end I guarantee you WILL pass and LEARN many things :D

Also, don't sign up for a class that has the time duration of 2 hours and 45 minutes if you don't want to actually stay for 2 hours and 45 minutes..why would you do that....???

I'm currently taking Kotash and I LOVE the class. Yes its hard but it's college what do you expect. For sure its not your typical science class but its definately a great learning experience that has honestly changed my life. If you're a slacker and want to do as little as possible then don't even bother taking it you will not last.

She can be intimidating, but an overall good teacher. She doesn't care if you can memorize things like a robot, she cares more about you actually learning something. The tests aren't that hard if you actually read the questions. That said, if you hate going for hikes in the woods or believe in creationism, skip her. A lot of hikes and evolution.

Kotash was a great teacher, I had her this past semester and people dropped like flies. All she asked is that you try and besides, there are so many bonus points available. The only people who don't pass are the ones that don't at least make the bare minimum effort. If you are looking for a slack class don't take this class.

If learning and using your brain to think scares you, then you shouldn't even be in school. Yes, the tests weren't super easy, but that's why you need to do your part and study and learn. Awesome trips, and Ishmael was a little boring, but I will remember the points from it, and the most important thing is that I expanded my mind. best class I took

People...if you're going to complain about how hard a class is and tell the world why you should have an "A", please SPELL CHECK your work beforehand. I agree: her tests require thinking and careful reading of the text. Not the easiest thing for many people. But you MUST read the material. Is she crazy? No. She is concerned about this planet.

Its a very interesting class you learn alot if you actually pay atention. Shes very knowledgeable. I will admit she is crazy and the test are ridiculous, if u do the e.c papers you will do fine. definitly not a class you want to take if you just want a good grade, if you have interest in the earth and enviorment you should take it

I thought that Kotash was an amazing teacher. She pushes you to do well and wont give up on you unless you give up on yourself. She may seem a bit unstable to some but that's because teaching is basically the love of her life. Just give her a chance. Some like her, some don't.

Mrs. Kotash has been one of the most engaging, knowledgable, passionate and fair teachers I've ever had. Her Natural Science class is the most interesting and relevent science classes I've ever taken. The class isn't that hard at all. Do all the assignments and you will pass with an A, like me. Taking this class has taught me a lot about the environment around me that I never knew before. The only part I disliked was Ishmael but not to worry, as it will not be read anymore. (PS:MVCC is filled with idiots that think they're still in high school)

Most people do not like her, but thats only because they are narrow-minded. I though i would hate her, but if you listen and read Ismael(which is great also) you will pass with a B+ as did I. Fun field trips also

I really enjoyed this class. At first i thought i would hate it but i really like it. This class was extremely eye opening for me. Kotash trys to bring out yout true potential. The labs are fun and you go outside a lot. Yes, her tests are hard but if you read the issues you might just do good.i learned more about my surroundings and if you hate this class its most likely youre just lazy and want a class you can ditch.

Yes she is different than most, but a great & fair person. She cares about wildlife, & excited about nature. I'm a CJ major and took Kotash's NAT111 "just cuz I needed the credit," and it didn't end up being a class, it ended up being a series of discussions that opened my eyes a little wider and gave me someone to really talk with. Here's the deal: Ms. Kotash is not willing to compromise her course simply because she's at a community college. It's some tough stuff, and she doesn't ask you to love it, but learn it. The first few weeks, she comes off very snide and mean, but if you can handle it, she's really very nice. I ended up respecting her more that way.

A great class not only because of the issues discussed, but also her interest in teaching critical thinking skills. I found her lectures very helpful as she would always relate them to our daily lives. It was a pleasure to be in her class. I highly recommend Mrs. Kotash.

Kotash is eccentric but she is probably one of the best teachers I've had. You REALLY have to pay attention because there's a lot of thinking involved, but one you get the hang of it, you're good to go. Just make sure you study and you'll get a B- she doesn't really give out A's. She's really funny and REALLY smart, so I recommend her.

Kotash's class was not at all easy, but if you did all the concept maps and logical analysis's then youl deffinatly get no lowe than a B in the class. Make sure you score high on the first test (its the easiest and shortest) then the rest of the semester should be fine. Final is easyyyy.

Remember this, Confidence in Reason. For her this is a must to break away from Mother Culture. So when I argued on a few figures that were completely wrong, She went from "confidence in Reason" to "Distrust to Reason". I gave her a "REAL CLARITY SET" and she let her self fall victim to MOTHER CULTURES IGNORANCE. Other than that, Very intelligent!!!

This class was not bad at all. All you had to do was do her "concept" maps for every class and that was an easy 5 points every day you attended class. Those little 5 points added up a whole lot by the end of the semester. I also went to her class pretty high everyday and recieved a solid B..

If you want an easy A, this class is not for you. Plan on field labs daily. Clarity sets and concept maps will be your key to passing this course. This class was well worth the money just from the knowledge I gained at the end. All of the little points add up and will bump your grade up a full letter in the end. I loved taking Nat 111 with Kotash being my teacher! I don't feel like anybody could teach that class any better. Yes the class is difficult. it is not am easy A class but I am not going to school to get an easy A im there to learn and I have learned more in her class than any other. Plus her happy personality makes it interesting and actually fun!

I took Kotash's Saturday class and at first I was little afraid but this teacher turned out to be completely amazing! I learned so much and she is truly memorable. I worked hard for my A and was challenged every class. Unfortunately to many lazy people complained and Kotash has changed everything for future classes. So future classes will be easy!

I took this class about 2 years ago and I think i might just take some more classes in the future. I cant get this class out of my mind. She gives EXTRA credit if you go and help forest preserves. Like 70 plus points.. Forgiving on missed exams and even shows a video on cultivation of marijuana. best teacher EVER. made us legal hemp brownies. BAM!

As long as you show up to class and follow instructions no reason you should get anything less than an A.

I liked this class a lot. If you show up, do the work and don't act like your still in high school you will get an A and she will treat you with respect. I watched a lot of documentaries in her class that were really interesting. She is very knowledgeable on everything she's teaching. I recommend this class if you actually want to learn something.

She makes this class very easy. I loved the way she teaches, she's funny and you can see she's very knowledgeable. The quizzes and exams are in groups & open books, open notes, & cellphones allowed to google the answers. I learned a lot in this class. Just remember to bring something to eat because this is a very long class.

Take this class at night during the fall - you will barely go outside! DO NOT MISS CLASS.I received a 180% in the class. Pay attention to the movies and pass your quizzes, you should have no problem getting an A. You can use your phone, notes, classmates, and book for your tests & final. If you FAIL her class you're a borderline superhero.

Mrs. Kotash was both fun and caring toward her students. She made us laugh, while learning the subject at the same time. You will have to create some concept maps, review film, and answer some questions. During this all she makes you feel comfortable during her lectures. Lot of group activities. Excellent teacher.

Very good teacher. Class is not hard, if you come to every class, take good notes you will get an A. You can use your notes for the tests, which she gives you the answers to. Take her before she retires.

Honestly, she's the spunkiest woman I've ever met. She's great. Her passion for the environment is obvious. However, the class is primarily taught through great video documentaries... not typically my ideal classroom style but you really have nothing to complain about when everything is open book/ talk to friends/ use your phone on tests& quizzes

this lady comes on to people hard but once u get to know her shes a sweet heart. have her to open up about her life then you will really love her.
