Hard teacher, but open book/notes tests and partial credit. Did online homeworks with lots of errors in programming (not her fault). It was annoying, but we could fix answers before turning it in and get better homework grades. And they are NOT the same as a test grade.

She is very helpful and patient. She gives open-book and open-note exams. Although no extra credits, her online homework assignments are basically like extra credits because you have several tries and you will know if you get the answer right or wrong to redo the problem. She gives a group quiz almost every class meetings. I got an A from her.

Interesting professor. Physics is a hard subject, but she makes it interesting and offers many points through homework and daily partner quizzes. Also tests are open book/notes.

OMG she was such an awesome teacher. She is really challenging and she expects everyone to read and pay attention in class. She gives you the test questions like 2 months in advance and gives you plenty of time for study. She doesn't assign homework expect reading and she is a funny person. She is a bit out there though but it is entertaining. I really suggest taking her class if you're interested in astronomy.

Hmm where should I start? She would lecture about some boring planets, and all of the sudden make a weird joke and start laughing. Shes weird lol all most from another planet? I couldnt stand her lectures sometimes cuz they were sooo boring! But her personality more than made up for the lectures. Still I really like her.

Short white lady in her 30's with really big nappy hair. She's outgoing but with a nerdy sense of humor. Her tests are long and semi-hard and gives a quiz every day. And she loooooves astronomy. (!)

I think she is very good at her class. She is sarcastic, some people don't like that but I do. She makes the class a little more entertaining. Take her class if you're interested in learning.

She knows more about astronomy than anyone you will ever meet. Very entertaining and energetic. I guaranty that you will learn a lot. It is not an easy A, you will have to study. She does talk fast but is always willing to repeat if asked. I really recommend her. She'll make you question what you know and want to learn more!!

Not an easy teacher, but there is a study guide. MAke sure you do it and keep up with it. She will give you the answers. And do the extra credit if she gives it. Overall a fun teacher and fun class. :)

She is so enthusiastic about her subject and though a bit nerdy it's what makes her quirky and fun. Her tests are reasonably difficult, but she gives students the test question before hand, so anyone that complains about her tests is just not a good student. I would definitly take her again!

Very nice teacher and strives to pass the class. Agree with "Don't expect an easy A". What's a bit difficult is that she expects you to do a little research on your own outside of her lectures. Her practice tests are helpful at times but they don't tell you what you got wrong or right, only a percentile. I'm at the bring of dropping her class.

Homework is extremely difficult. Too much information for a G.E. Course. Majority of the class was failing. She taught like it was a class intended for an Astronomy Major. Aside from this she is very knowledgeable in the subject. If you want an easy class to fulfill a G.E., DON'T take this course. If you want a challenge then sign up!!

DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS AT CERRITOS COLLEGE. She has a way of teaching..and its very useful and the facts stick with you. She's funny and she loves astronomy. Would i reccommend her? absolutely. She practically gives you the answers to all test questions if you do the homeworks. Overall it was an exciting class and i didn't use the book

She starts off with a lecture and ends with a quiz (usually group)..The homework ?'s are the test ?'s. She lets you turn in homework "for review only" to see if you have the right answers. Shes very funny (in a sarcastic-dorky kinda way). Take her if you don't want the same old run of the mill boring generic lecture class. You will be entertained.

I loved this professor. She is very sarcastic and intelligent. I would recommend her to anyone, but I would also recommend that you need to attend her class in order to pass. She has an awesome website with her powerpoints and homeworks and extra astronomy interests. She is extremely helpful and always something interesting to say.

Dont pay any attention to these people, she is a very good teacher, do all the practice exams she puts online because these are the exact same questions on the TEST. The colloquiums are fun,attendace is important because you get points for going to class.These people complaining probably didnt even bother to look at the questions or went to class.

all the bad comments left by students are funny! she is a dorky teacher but not demanding at all! she practically gives u the test ahead of time. u study of of that! even if the lecture is long boring and unrelated at times all u do is study the answers and pass tests with an "A" if people fail its because they seriously are lazy!!!

i loved this class. she made learning about astronomy fun. every night i look at the sky and i know the phase of the moon and it feels good. =] she is funny and very intelligent. take her class. you will appreciate the sky so much more after.

Awesome teacher! She had all the possible questions that she could put on the tests ready from day 1. study that, and you'll get an A. Examples were great, she made it interesting, we NEVER used the textbook, all the material was in her PPT. Not a difficult class.

The material can get pretty complicated but she gives the test questions ahead of time and will tell you which ones you got wrong so you can get it right by test time. A few hw assignments are due online but they arent hard nor do they take long, if you want astronomy go with her.

Class is to easy, she gives you all the exam questions well in advance, there is no excuse to fail this class.

Janet, Is an a great teacher. If you must take an astronomy course, DO NOT take this one. Turn the other way! Course consists of 2 midterms, 1 final, and a huge project about the evolution of life on a planet that you created.

she is really nice and knowledgeable. she gives the answer before the test, but u have to work for the right answer. txt book is not needed.she talks nonstop during class. she makes us do quiz every class but if u play attention in her lecture, u'll fine. hw is pretty easy if u take time and go to her office hour, she will help u out. easy A class

I had her for Spring 2012. It was online class & it was easier than what I thought. Its not hard online, you just have to keep up with the assignments & quizess. There is HW every week with a quiz. PP notes are helpful, & if your stuck on something you email her & she will help you out. Highly recommend her for online astronomy.

Took her class online in spring. It was not as hard as I though online. U just need to keep up/w the assigns & quizess she assigns every week. If u get stuck on something, email her & she will help u out. There are no study guides as she gives quest off of weekly chapter quizess & puts random quests from book. Study quizzes & u'll do fine on exams.

I had no interest in this subject, but this prof. made it a class I didn't dread attending. The quizzes can be a little hard, but if you use the study guides the tests should be easy! Loved her enthusiasm for the subject & she was very open to helping students as much as possible. Great learning environment and great prof.!

She is nerdy.shes funny on a nerd level.super sweet CLASS:Quizes everyday, very simple 5 min. quizes.Its an easy A, B or C,you can pass it as long as you study the "exam questions" on talon.net, print them out get the answers and i swear if you do this the tests are going to be soo easy. She does not accept late hw but you get 2-7 days to do it.

I took the online course because of work, with that said it was hard because she requires you to come to school for two midterms and the final. It was hard to get the time off to come in so if you have a tight work schedule I recommend another teacher. Also her final is 25% of your grade and it is on all 25 chapters so beware.

Professor McLarty is one of the best professors I've had.All she expects of you is to pay close attention to the lectures because there will be a short quiz before class ends.Its impossible to fail the class, you're giving a study guide and useful notes. Commit 100% and the results will be very satisfying.I learned so much thanks to Janet McLarty.

Attendance is mandatory as there is a daily assignment or quiz. If you don't show up you miss points which can mean the difference between pass or fail. Janet is a great professor & passionate. Textbook is available ONLINE for download. She posts all PPTS online which is SO helpful! She lets you keep actual exam questions to study!

She is a good professor, knows what she is doing, gives you the test questions ahead of time and you can resend them over and over as many times as you want. It is a lot of work but very easy class

The class seems very long and there is a lot of work, but it is very easy and all online. she does give you the test questions and that is like your study guide.

this is my second time taking janet's class. I took her 103 class and currently taking 104. She is an awesome professor. Very dorky and fun. It is a lot of work but very easy. She is willing to help you understand the material

Her sarcasm is not for everyone.. But I found it rather amusing. She is so very knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. There is homework and quizzes almost every week, but that because it's a science class. She is totally there for help if you need it, but you have to ask. Tests are cake if you study the test prep she gives out.

Professor Janet class consist of memorization especially for those test questions before the exam. There are HW assignments due before the start of the classes and there are quizzes every class meeting. The work is very intense but if you pay attention, do your launch pad HW, studying for the exam, you'll pass the class.

Janet was a fun teacher, and while she kind of stuck to the book a bit, her class was fairly enjoyable and fun

Janet is a great teacher! She is super sweet and adorable and she gives you every opportunity to succeed and pass the class, you just have to put in the work. There isn't much reading, but make sure to go back on her lectures, because she posts each one. The work load is very manageable.

Online. There was a lot of work but it was easy to get an A. There are quizzes on every chapter that are about 40-60 questions each. She takes the exact questions from the quiz for the test. Tests are 50 questions so if you want to gauruntee a good grade you should study them all. Its easier if you memorize after each chapter is done. Less cramming

She gives really detailed and interesting lectures. Her PowerPoints help give you a visual of what she is teaching. The tests can be difficult to pass if you don't study and don't do the study guides. Going to class everyday is best to receive points for the of pop quizzes. Her class isn't difficult it just requires you to put some effort.

Although health issues with myself and my grandmother eventually caused me to drop the class, she was an excellent teacher. She made learning fun and her humor, although not for everyone, made class enjoyable.

I had her for my online class I wish I would have taken her class in person because she seemed like she was fun . But the online part was really hard for me to pass its alot of reading and I feel like the tests are pretty hard but she is a really cool teacher . Definitely recommend her but if your not use to online classes dont do online :)

In the middle of 2020 Spring Semester and I would have to say the only difficult chapter is the moon. Also, without having a text book on hand and reading from canvas only it's little difficult to memorize so many scientific terms, but luckily the quiz can be taken unlimited times & you must pass with a score of 9 out of 10 to be able to move on

Had her for the lecture portion. Make sure you study hard because this is a tough course. Expect different question on the exam. Make sure you follow the rules properly or you will get a zero. She gives partial marks which is nice. Overall a great professor. Just make sure you study hard for the exams.

Professor McLarty Schroeder was awesome. I took her online class and everything was fairly simple to understand. I learned a lot throughout the semester in her class, and she was very passionate and eager on the subject, as well as eager to help if it was needed. I would recommend this class, as well as I would take it again if I had to.
