3 Major exams, relatively hard, a lot of studying & one major paper. Otherwise interesting class/teacher. Homework due weekly.

A great teacher, that makes the class interesting, and the time pass quickly. Four exams all of which are not hard as long as you read the chapters, and one major paper. I would definitly reccomend taking this class!

EASY A! just read the chapters and do all the extra credit. There is a ten page paper at the end of the semester but it is way easy once you start writing it and she grades real easy on it.

Minehan is very interesting to listen to and I actually looked forward to going to her class. She makes the class exciting by bringing in activities and expirments to help us learn the material. Great class to take!

her class is easy as long as you do all your homework and listen to her lectures & pay attention to the power points. Make sure you study b4 the test w/ the study sheets she gives because those tell you what to know and are very helpful so u dont study the worng things.

this teacher is very good. She is relaxed and helpful. She makes you pay attention. I love the class!!! To teach you terms, she starts a game or wants volunteers for a little experiment. I think it's very helpful to understand the text.

I absolutly love her!! she makes class so interesting especially since I have her at 8 in the morning!! she applies lots of things to real life and shows many interesting short movies!! I would Highly Recomend her even if you have no interest in psych now!

I love this teacher, I transfered into her class and I am glad I did, her classes tend to be smaller, and she has a great sense of humor. she really seems to relate with the students and makes the content really really interesting... she also makes studying for tests really easy by uploading all the powerpoint presentations on pipline TAKE THIS CLA

Fun and entertaining teacher! Great, hard class, lots of information and chapters. Five papers and the tests were difficult, so make sure you study! Way better Psych teacher then any of the rest of them!

She makes the class very interesting. She shows a lot of video clips. Took her Friday class and the 3 hours fly by. Highly recommend her. She gives many opportunities to do well and get an A in the class. Print the online notes and do the study guide for the exams and your guaranteed to pass.

I luv Psychology!She is a great teacher as other people say. Interesting class and materials. There are so many extra credit oppotunities so DON'T MISS THEM! Also exams are fairly hard. Try to read up the textbook because she put details from text. Have FUN!

Great lady. Read text and study key terms- all points through 4 exams and 5 essays. Do this and you will be golden. Fun lady who appreciates class discussion. Speak out and she will like you. Good professor- highly recommend.

Even if you are not a Psych major, this will probably be one of the most interesting classes you will ever take at CC. The lectures include powerpoint and movies as well as handouts, so will appeal to you whatever kind of learner you are. Dr. Minehan is a great teacher and you will look forward to this class every week and learn a lot.

Psychology of Human Sexuality with her was the best class! It was so much fun, not boring EVER. She has lots of guest speakers and some videos. barely any lecture. Lots of group discussions make this class fun. Papers are super easy. Tests are easy because she gives you a complete study guide. May be uncomfortable for people who are shy about sex!

I took Minehan bc of the great things i heard about her, but i was NOT impressed. She was really kind of a B... the class itself is pretty bias and if i could do it all over again, i wouldn't take her class. She helped A LOT during the tests and gave a website where some of the test questions and answer would be. just didn't like her as a person

Great teacher enjoyed her class. Easy to get an A if you study and LISTEN!! She usual goes over the questions that are going to be on the test right before you take it. Be careful because she does this while the class is talking its your choice to quite down and listen. Great personality somewhat of a feminist but very fun. WOULD RECOMMEND

I loved this teacher. without a doubt my favorite teacher at sbcc. as long as you read and do the short essays which are like a page youll do fine. dfinately take her. shes extremely helpful on tests and make-up work

You have to be braindead, unmotivated, and skip to even get a "C" in this class. If you show up to every lecture you WILL get an "A". You will always know what will be on the test. Very interesting class. She is a very kind, understanding teacher, and always open to suggestions. If you attend your classes regularly and want an easy A- take her clas

I loved this class. Its easy as long as you read the book. I reccomend using the books website to help study for the quizzes. Shes extremely helpful I missed a test one day because of some nut holding up the freeway and she helped me take the test. Very awesome lady I strongly reccomend her

She is great! She will help you on anything. When you are taking her tests and you don't know the answer, she will literally give it to you. She wants you to learn the material. I highly recommend her!

Minehan is a great teacher and such a cool women. I had this class on fridays for 4 hours. Sounds brutal huh? Besides the horrible time I enjoyed this class so much I have never been absent. That being said, if you attend class every time you will do well. 5-6 basic personal opinion type essays. 4-5 tests w/ the lowest one dropped.+best study guide

Very clear teacher, but not nice as a person. She can randomly snap at people and DOES NOT like being wrong. She relates the Psych class to the real world, which is helpful and good. She has favorites who she calls on most of the time, which can be irritating. Don't take her Friday class if you can because it goes by slowly and it's on a Friday.

IDK about the last 3 posts but i took her humans sexuality class and she was awesome. she was straight forward and gave study guides, you do those and your gold. I guess her attitude towards the class depends on the class's overall personality. But i do remember her snapping at me for...an unknown reason. But i passed with B.

Literally my favorite professor. She has such an interest in what she teaches and has no filter which makes it easier for the whole class to communicate. TAKE HER CLASS.

Greatest teacher I've had so far in my first year. She is so helpful when you don't understand anything, just ask, and she'll explain. Read and attend class and you'll get an A. Her ways of teaching is very effective and she wants everyone to get an A!

She's a great instructor! Her tests are pretty straight forward and there's plenty of chances for easy extra credit. HW is due online and she gives plenty of time to get it done. She's really smart and approachable. Unlike many instructors she understands that students have a life outside of class.

She is just great. She's hard and strict when it comes to APA formating and so on, but offers a lot of extra credit and really helps you understand. This was a friday 8am class and it was the best class I had this semester.

This class was HARD but super interesting! She calls on you in class which is sort of nerve racking if you havent read but she does a lot of helpful reviews and I was literally never bored. Your grade is based off 5 tests which are really hard but I had a good study partner and got As on all of them

I originally did not have this professor, i originally had Marian Shapiro. But due to health issues she took over mid semester. She may seem like a tough cookie on the outside but if you meet with her individually she only wants you to succeed and really cares. Take this class.

Tough at first, but actually ends up being really nice. She's really understanding and a great great teacher. Tells you everything thats on the test before the test so the people who are saying her tests are hard are obviously not that intelligent. Excellent teacher. Definitely take this class!

May seem intimidating at first, but she's actually exceptionally sweet and dedicated to making sure her students understand the material. She can also be very accommodating and respectful. She goes over exam material before each exam. Honestly, taking this class with her was life changing.

If you want a fun, informative professor who really cares about the material, take this class! I've never been in a class with so much positive laughter and student to student connectedness. Lots of extra credit is offered, the study guides are comprehensive. Students who have Minehan tend to take other courses taught by her and that speaks volumes

The best professor I have ever had! If you use your cell phone she will hate you. However, her class is so interesting there is no need to be on your phone. She dicusses everything that will be on the test and provides a great rewview session the class before! She is very funny and helpful! Remeber to show up and do the reading!

Janet is amazing! I learned so much about human sexuality. She made the whole experience of learning something "taboo" for most students, very fun. She brought in alot of guest speakers to talk about sexuality, which was very stimulating and educational.

Janet is very helpfull and her lectures are somewhat interesting. She gives out study guides for some of the midterms and the midterms basically consist of the notes. very easy very helpful. NO TEXTING

Semi-good teacher. Doesn't lecture much, uses videos mostly. Do not be late, and turn in HW on time. 10 mins after class is late acc to her. Can snap at you at anytime! Use the Study Guide!! 5 essays, 4 exams, 30 p Extra C, 1 Final w/ Cumulative section. If you do EVERYTHING then you might have a chance at an A.

Janet is just r a d. Really awesome, understanding and supportive. She makes it her priority to teach her students well. The class is easy, seriously just do your homework and read the chapters and enjoy the ride. You won't regret taking her class. She's funny, she plays a lot of videos, and she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities!

Didn't love her but didn't absolutely hate her. I enjoy psychology so it was an easy class for me. Make sure you aways check the online HW. Tests are no surprise, they are on the material in lectures and in the book. DO NOT TEXT. DO NOT WEAR FRAGRANCES. She's rude and often says "really?!" if you answer a question wrong. Embarrassing. OK teacher.

Minehan is such a sweet professor. She tells you what to go over before each test, and is very knowledgable about the subject. She is open and honest and incorporates her own experiences into her teaching, which makes her lectures interesting. She makes an effort to build relationships with students, and explains things clearly and effectively!

Not the best teacher ever but not the worst. The main thing I didn't like about this class was the online homework. It messed up a few times and erased the work i had done, I would go back after they were due and see that it said I had only done 50% of the work. She was a good teacher but made you feel silly when you got an answer wrong. easy class

I personally believe that this course is a rite of passage for every single SBCC student. 4 papers that aren't that hard to write and 5 tests that you can easily ace if you dostudy the study guide. Awesome guest speakers. Class goes by fast, lots of videos, who doesn't want to learn about things like sex, masturbation, and fetishes. Best class!

One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are really interesting and interactive. The tests are easy if you put a little bit of effort into studying. I wouldn't skip class just because her tests are based mostly on lectures. Overall, really great class. I really enjoyed it and made me think about becoming a Psychology major.

Make sure you show up to class! Be prepared to be called out on the spot and definitely do the homework. Her attitude can go back and forth but she's always hilarious and gives great lectures. Also don't even think about taking your phone out in class. You definitely have to be prepared for tests but she gave us the final to work on at home.

Dr. Minehan was an excellent professor. She is very studied on how to teach. She makes learning the material very easy. Attendance is not mandatory after the drop period, but she does teach a lot of the material in class, and doesn't rely on the textbook very heavily. I would highly recommend you take her class.

Great Professor, my favorite at SBCC. Very down to earth and relates well to her students. She treats you as an adult but is also very understanding. Her lectures are always engaging and she uses a variety of materials such as videos and class demonstrations that add to your understanding of the course material. Would take again.

My favorite class ever taken so far at SBCC. Janet's teaching technique is awesome. She knows how to teach so that you will be engaged and love to learn. The homework is online and the site is spectacular. Other then reading and answering true or false questions, you won't be called on. Don't be intimidated, Janet cares about you and your success!

Just a really fun class! Prof is hilarious and deftly handles what might otherwise be some awkward subject matter. You can tell she's passionate about teaching a subject that's often ignored. Lots of interesting guest speakers, tests are easy so long as you attend class. Be aware that you have to write some pretty personal essays along the way

First time taking Psychology at SBCC and Professor Minehan really opened my eyes to the significance and role of Psychology in our daily lives. Interesting lectures that cover all the material in a order that is easy to understand. Tests aren't hard as long as you show up to class and pay attention. Hands down one of my favorite classes at SBCC.

She was super helpful throughout the semester. She actually wants you to pass. Her lectures were specific and well done and you will find things on the tests taken directly from them.

I thought this class was going to be difficult because of the subject matter, but this class is really amazing! Dr. Minehan does a fabulous job in her lectures to keep it exciting. There are many amazing guests speakers that relates to the chapters. Recommend this Professor!

Professor Minehan proved that rate on the Rate My Professor website does not shows either teaching style or quality of the class. She was the perfect choice for me regardless of the rate which was 4.1. I would like to recommend to student who eager to seek further knowledge in psychology and class that ACTUALLY learn something out of it, use it.

This is the best teacher I have ever had. She is absolutely amazing, so helpful, genuinely concerned about her students and how they do in the class. I did poor on one test and she emailed me separately to ask what she can help with. I also took her psychology of human sexuality class and it was absolutely amazing. Probably my favorite prof. Good sense of humor, compassionate, wants to educate. She is super sweet, understanding and willing to help students. Offers extra credit. Gives a study guide that is extremely helpful for passing exams. It's important to have a good teacher for this course, so I def recommend Minehan.

I loved this class, I would definitely recommend it. She explains everything really wel and even as an international student it is easy to understand everything. she gives great examples that are related to real life which makes it easier to understand. she is a great person in and outside the classroom

Definitely top 10 best professors I've had. Engaged with the class constantly. Asked direct questions to the class to ensure we are understanding the material. LISTEN TO THESE QUESTIONS! If she asks a question to the class 9/10 times its on an exam. She will kick you out if you are a distraction or on your phone. So don't.

She is an amazing professor and really cares about her students. She is the type of professor that wants you to take the class seriously and be respectful of what is being talked about in class. The class is overall really fun and she gives you a study guides that are almost exactly like the exams and you have to write 3 papers that are super easy.

Minehan's class was probably my favorite class I've taken. It looks like a lot of reading, but I mostly skimmed the book for vocab, made a Quizlet for each chapter, and studied from there. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I recommend it because some stuff she talks about shows up on the tests. I hope to take another one of her classes!

She's a great professor in knowing what she teaches and engages well with the students in each class. She actually had live zoom lectures this whole semester, showing that she wanted the students to actually learn. Most teachers can't even put in that effort. She is rude over email though, very snappy, and will not help you for test questions.

Loved her, she made this class fun and respectable, and even though she seems hard at times she really cares for the well-being of all her students. She also took the whole class to get pizza after the final. (this was pre-pandemic btw)

I'm here to talk explain the situation of her being rude because she is honestly such an amazing professor. She kicked 3 people out for talking when she said to be quiet 3 times and if they were going to talk do it outside. The prof. has a no phones rule and the girl, 1 of the 3 who people who went outside, talked all the time and never listened.

Professor Minehan's lectures are very engaging and although she does go a little fast sometimes, she covers the material very well. Some of her discussion assignments are a bit difficult sometimes, but as long as you put in the effort to learn the material, you'll be fine. Her class was very interesting and I enjoyed it.

If you're looking for an easy A she's a good choice. She gave lots of extra credit opportunities; accordingly don't expect her to be flexible about grading. GO TO LECTURE THE DAY BEFORE AN EXAM AND EARLY ON THE DAY OF AN EXAM. Thank me later...

PSY100 With Dr. Minehan was the best class I have ever taken. She is such a wonderful teacher and truly cares about her students learning. This subject is such an intriguing topic and she does an amazing job teaching it while keeping the students engaged and interested. I highly highly recommend taking this class with her! 100/10!

I would recommend Professor Minehan to anyone who is interested in Psychology. There are quite a few exams and essays but as long as you pay attention to the lecture and read the textbook you're going to be fine! She is a very nice teacher who truly cares for her students and you can always ask her if you struggle with any of the material or exams
