This is a fly by course, an easy A. The taecher is a little nuts, but in a funny way. Easy homework more crafts then youve had since 5th grade but its better that writing a research paper. This class is an easy a for sure
Janet is kind and does want you to do well - but this does take work on your part. Follow instuctions (which are clearly laid out) and complete assignments, you'll get a A without question. Have fun and enjoy Janet's unique humor.
I started this class not knowing what to expect- and ended it with a new found faith in people- because of Janet. Highly recommended.
she's ditsy but if you seem to be genuine in your writing and talk to her and make "friends" with her, she gives you good grades, she has you turn in a "1st" draft, then she gives your stuff back for you to fix and get a better grade, we even got to skip class to go to 1 of the "culture days" in the cafeteria and buy stuff and then write about it
Although on the strange side she wants you to do well. Just write honestly. She is really easy grader. She lets you hand in a first draft, then lets you make corrections. By far the easiest class I have taken.
very very very very very very easy teacher. if youre taking lit of diversity and want a good grade, take her. if youre taking lit of diversity and want to learn about lit of diversity, dont. night classes always get out early.
very nice teacher
This was the first literature class I had taken that required very little reading. If you are interested in learning about Native American culture, take this class. If you want a class that studies literature of many diversities, go someplace else!
Awesome teacher, loved her class
she is absolutely the best teacher ever. she makes the learning fun and thanks to her, writing essays is no longer a problem for me!
She's an awesome professor! You have to write a good amount of essays, and DO NOT forget to keep everything she gives you in a portfolio (she collects them towards the end of the semester). Teaches well, very creative and laid back, will take you outside when it's warm. Great person altogether.
LOVE HER!
Easy Class to take, great teacher but keep all papers from her class for portfolio...a lot of essays but shes a very easy grader
take this class!
While attendance is not mandatory, most of the work is done in class. All of her assignments are easy and all but a few are done in class. Taking composition with her was CAKE.
Super super super easy. I loved her because I flew by with an A and we always got out early. To sum things up, my boyfriend took the class with another teacher and failed it, then took it with Red Feather and got an A.
Her teaching method is ridiculous! the whole class hour was a guessing game. I didn't learn anything!!
I had Janet for both, English Comp, and Brit Lit. Before taking Janet's classes I hated writing anything, now I love to write. Janet methods of teaching are unconventional in best sense of the word. If you are looking for a jump through the hoops, traditional class this is not it. If you like being creative and have an open mind, she's the best.
LOVE HER! Has a passion for the English Language. She is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. ATTENDANCE is very important because she does a lot of small in class assignments that she grades. Also, she favors those who participate in class discussions. Grading is fair. Show up, TRY and you will get an A
Super easy. We only had to write two and half papers and keep a weekly journal. Midterm and final were easy. I would definitely recommend taking her class if you want an easy A.
taking english with janet red feather was super fun! you never what she will say next and add lots of qwerky humor to the class! and you will watch her favorite movie clueless...to learn slang!
As a professor, she was competent and enjoyable. But her kid lit class can't really be taken seriously. We had to make a *scrapbook* for 25% of the grade. Quizzes and exams were incredibly easy: all vocabulary matching. Lots of in-class artsy craftsy projects. Kind of quirky, but smart and personable. Obviously has a passion for her subject.
I had Red Feather for Freshman Comp and she has been the best professor I've had. Shes very nice and is always willing to help students when they need help. There was some textbook use, but more in-class discussion then anything. Overall, she was amazing.
Smart, Eclectic humor, helpful, old-school 60's/70's college exp. shows through :) Craft-heavy Child Lit is OK/appropriate for aspiring educators, but you should be told before sign up. I expected something more academic, but enjoyed it. She seemed distracted/disorganized this semester. Would be well-served to learn/use D2L.
Don't listen to the good comments because she is not a eay teacher. She says one thing and then does another. She is not clear. DO NOT TAKE HER.....
Well...if you like to waste your time and money, like to make a scrapbooks and if you don't mind to learn nothing, this class is for you. Sorry to say but it was total waste. Do not recommend!
this professor , was un helpful and very rude . not to mention very annoying
Sad to say but is not a good teacher at all, her behavior and discusions were not appropriate. AVOID!!!
Red Feather is straight-forward. I took her English Composition class and she is true to her word. If must get on the good side of her. You either love her or hate her. If you participant at some points in her classes she will like you. She has somewhat of a humor. Take her if you like writing. If you don't, I would recommend not to take her.
The class was easy but anyone remotely familiar with grammar is going to be bored out of their mind. The class was kind of a joke. I felt like I was back in elementary school. The entire first half of the semester you spend breaking up sections of the textbook and "teaching" it to the class. There is a lot of emphasis on making projects look good.
We had to teach the class, which is not what I am paying for. The papers we wrote for this class were ridiculous. We also had three papers, including our research paper, due within one week of one another. Even though we did nothing prior to that for weeks. I don't feel like this class has fully prepared me for further college writing at all.
I did not like the course and instrustor as well. She was not prepared and we had to do stupid assignments such as a decorative journals. I could not believe, but basically we had to make a scrupbook. Hated her class! Try to avoid!
Don't take this instructor, total waste of time and money!
Only take this teacher if you are a creative writer and you enjoy writing. For someone like me who cannot write creatively,I hated the class. I also felt that there was a lot of busy work and felt like I was in an elementary school class. 20% of your grade is just on your scrapbook.....
She is nice, but isnt always clear on all of the assignments that you have to turn in. She also cancelled our class like 4 times when I had her so we got behind and she expected the class to keep up even though she wasnt there... overall the class was easy but I wouldnt take it if you dont like to write because thats all you do.
This class is a waste of time and money. The class consisted of her opinion on Obama and anti religion....The fianl for this class was a spelling test with about 25 other questions. This should not be a college class
This professor was of no help changed the schedule four times. Majority of the points were given after midterm. Professor didn't get grades back to the student in a timely manner so that the student could do better on the next paper. I would not take this professor again or recommend anyone to take her.
This professor is outrageously rude I was sick for a class period and came in a couple days later to turn in assignment and she made some comment about me being on 2 many drugs. I DONT do drugs. She never grades anything on time to give back for you to learn mistakes. Class is pointless its three hours and usually got out 2 hours early.Wasteofmoney
Seems to think english is an art course...forcing you to decorate some projects. On any writing assignment, you have to write what SHE is thinking if you want an A. Unless you think exactly like her, your opinion will get you a bad grade. If you are good at making stuff up (like me, and say all of what she thinks, easy A. if you can't, you may fail
This professor is EXTREMLY LEFT WINGED. if you take her "I wouldn't EVER again" write some BS that you think she will like if not good luck. The professor clearly does not understand her grading system either I am no rocket scientist but 10pts is not the same as 100pts if they are not weighted I dont care what you say. No help during office hours
I was disappointed because the prof is very nice but the class was poor. There was almost no academic insight into children's literature, but was instead like a class in arts and crafts. There is also a serious problem with the weighting of assignment points. An essay is worth 10 points but a 4 word vocab matching quiz can be worth 20 points... -_-
Janet is awesome as long as you remain professional, which, for all intents means not acting like a jerk in class. She grades her first papers pretty strictly, but you'll soon learn how she works and adapt. She's VERY smart too, so watch what you say! I would take her again in a heartbeat.
I enjoyed Prof. Red Feather. She's very soft spoken and easy to talk to. All she expects is that you read the book and come prepared to answer questions. There are some "creative" elements that I did not enjoy (crafting) that did not fit with the study of English, in my opinion. Get to know her and speak up in class, and you're sure to do well.
The teacher was very boring. Class went by slow because she was such a dull person and the way she presented things. Although boring class, just do your work, read the book, show up to class, and you'll do just fine. Easy A to B.
She is very eccentric and hard to understand when describing topics
Her midterm and final are so easy, but she is a hard grader on response journals. I took introduction to literature and she was quite knowledgable about the peices, but she was trying to hard to be funny. I might take this class agian, but not likely
One thing I noticed about her is a 4 hrs period turn into 2 hrs, If you want to learn something, don't take her! She sits all the time & when she wants to discussed about something in the textbook, she'll have the whole classroom goes around reading each paragraph. She is a nice instructor but will rudely interrupt when you have something to say.
She is always talking over students and interrupting. I was late once, by 3 minutes, due to snow she became very rude. When you ask her for help she doesn't really help just gives clues. Half of the time in her 4 hour class, we are just sitting there doing nothing. I would recommend a different teacher.
Ms. Red Feather is an incredibly intelligent, well -polished professional. If you are in school to learn and invest your interest in the material, you will do very well. Diligence is important to ensure you keep current with journaling and follow the requested format. Challenge yourself and reap the rewards, Ms. Red Feather is severely under-rated.
Prof. Red Feather told everyone at the beginning of the course, you put in the effort and time to do the assignments and you will pass. I think she gave me an easy "A" and I plan on taking her again for ENGC1101. She does have a unique teaching style as in making the class pretty much teach the lessons. Take her and participate and you will do fine
Do not take if you are not a creative writer, you will struggle. Easy criteria to follow. Dumb arts & craft project. Also we didn't do much the first half of semester then we missed 3 days of class in result we missed three assignments that she gave us to do in one week over spring break. Favor students, and talks over students she doesn't care for
Prof. Red Feather is an eccentric yet intelligent professor. She knows the material very well and can articulate herself. Class participation is worth a lot here as you will proofread classmates papers and partner up for presentations. She is open to helping students. As long as you do the work and participate you will pass the class.
Mrs. Red Feather is a great instructor as long as you pay attention and participate. She's a little eccentric but very intelligent, clear on expectations, and a lenient grader. However, we had to make all of our projects look "authentic to the time period" which I found to be trivial and unnecessary.
She teaches decently but can be rude. You will easily pass if you put in the effort but I would recommend another professor.
You are given ample time to do papers. Your papers will be peer reviewed in class by fellow classmates. A lot of learning about grammar is done through group presentation which is a drag but not too bad. You get to watch a movie. Fair grader and gives useful feedback for next paper. Class is boring but it's easily passable if you just do the work.
Mrs. Red Feather is a very good professor if you are willing to really focus. Her lectures can be a little redundant but if you listen and take good notes you will ace every test. The midterm and the final are both super easy. I took this class once a week at night and I didn't go to class for a whole month and still got out with a B.
Professor red feather is a little biased towards students she likes and females. If you agree with her on informal essays and take her side you will do well. Midterm and final are extremely easy. She also allows re writes for papers, just ask her how she wants it done and you will get an A
Don't let people fool you into thinking she's a bad teacher, she does expect you to do your best work which any college teacher will do. Show up for class, do the papers, & you'll be fine. The tests are really easy if you study & she will like you if you ask for help and advice. Participate in class as well & show her you care, it is that simple
Easy class. Paper oriented which makes it easy to learn organization and structure of a paper. She mostly lectures and has group work to present ideas/topics. Talks over certain students. Asks for answers and the tries to rephrase answer into a different one. Good class if you are easy going. Some students act like its high school and are rude.
Shes very clear on what she wants and its not difficult to please her. The class is very easy to pass there are only 4 papers. If you actually do the work you will pass the class easily.
10/10 do not recommend. Makes the course wayyyyy harder then it should be. Does not give good feedback.
Super easy A. Just follow instructions and turn in your assignments. She checks attendance but shes super understanding if you miss class, as long as you email her.
Professor Red Feather can be confusing when presenting assigments. Everyone will have questions, don't be afraid to ask. When it comes to the 4 papers, literally do what she says and you'll get an A! Tests are SO EASY!! Don't forget your text book, you will use it! As long as you are organized and turn in everything in time, you'll be great!
Professor Red Feather is very helpful and understanding. The tests are very easy and there are only 4 papers. She lets you redo papers and gives very good feedback but you have to ask about it. Do your work on time and you'll do well in the course.
This class felt pretty easy. We did have several projects and journals but I never struggled with them because she makes her expectations very clear. She doesn't tolerate unnecessary noise and will randomly call on people but she is a very nice woman. The class periods themselves consisted almost entirely of group talk and her lecturing.
Writing intensive class, 1 essay every week minimum. I wish her instructions were specific. She is very kind and responds quickly. Her feedback on assignments is also very specific, through and helpful. I was surprised at how constructive her feedback was compared to the usual english professor. She grants you extensions on assignments, just ask!
Professor RedFeather is a kind & smart person. The problem is that she is not motivating or inspiring. Her class is terribly boring. She counters students often. If she asks a subjective question, and someone answers subjectively, she will disagree and point out why their opinion is wrong. Nobody would speak up by the end - they were scared.
Professor Red Feather is great. She usually replies to emails within a day or two but she has forgotten completely about one I sent. Overall she makes this class really easy. One thing I don't like are the 'quizzes', it is just ripping the definitions out of the textbook and putting them into word. Probably don't need the textbook for this class.
she is the nicest professor I've ever had. She is very understanding and lets you turn in assignments late no points deducted.
Best professor I have ever had hands down. There are alot of journals but they are fun and intriguing topics! If I had to take more english courses I would defiantly take professor Red Feathers course for sure. She gives great feedback on every assignment and helps you along if you are not great at writing. Highly recommended.
Doesn't teach at all and very little work assigned. Takes forever to grade but stops assigning more work when she is really behind. If you are a good writer and don't need to be taught I would recommend this professor. She is very kind and caring and overall a really nice person.
If you're a student with disabilities/accommodations I STRONGLY recommend you find another prof. She isn't above calling students out in front of everyone if you don't have your work done. She's very anal retentive, class is boring, treats some students like they're stupid. If she wants 1-2pgs, she won't accept anything >2pgs. Don't take this class
was very understanding and helpful
Class: Mini writing and correct/ incorporate-this activities (not graded). Calls on everyone to contribute to discussion topic. HW: About 1 essay a week. 3-5 paragraphs. Grading: Fair, helpful feedback, takes a while. Note: Everything is in the syllabus, take notes. This is a college class. Struggling? Check the prereqs, your placement or attitude.
This professor at least in an online class wasn't very helpful. Directions were not usually clear and grades were unnecessarily harsh. Feedback was often not helpful, and she took months to grade so by the time you got the feedback the class was practically over.
Very good teacher, showing up to class was mandatory but she made it fun. Only gave one assignment per week and explained it well.
She is very good. Clear information on what you need to do. Only one or two assignments per week and quizzes are EASY! Very good class if you need the credits. Things are usually due saturday nights and sundays. Not a tough grader but does not grade things very fast.
this class is excellent! took this class online for an English credit, had one meeting a week and most meetings ended earlier than shown. one assignment a week (typically a paper/essay) and uses meetings to make sure assignments are clear. easy grader and she gives good feedback on what to fix! 10/10
This professor is hands down one of the most genuine and inspirational. Her efforts to ensure that each student understands the course concept(s) are remarkable, she always answers questions thoroughly even outside of class. If you are determined and follow the guidelines of each assignment you will succeed. I highly recommend this professor!
Loved this prof so much! She was not a strict grader, and provided excellent feedback that was clear and concise. Only had class once a week, but the lectures went by so quick! Class was quite engaging- participation and attendence are 100% required to getting a good grade in the class.1001% reccomend!
Extremely tough grader and put off grading about 1/3 of the semester's assignments until the last week. Her tough grading is awful when this happens as my grade dropped from a 95% to an 88% when I thought I did great on all of the assignments. I personally wouldn't take a course with her again or another literature course again in general. Boring.
It's a lot of writing but it's do-able. She gives back detailed feedback but takes forever to grade.
She will grade you based off your likeness of you.
Ms.Janet is very sweet and super caring for her students as she is very passionate about reading and writing. She's been teaching for years and so when I write papers she's easily able to spot my mistakes and give good feedback to me. She also offers extra credit so please take advantage of those. Most importantly she wants her students to do well.
The professor doesn't grade assignments until the last week of school. She hates overdue assignments but will refuse to grade on time. it's completely unfair to assign so much homework when you can't grade on time. feedback does not make sense, the amount of points she takes off because your assignment was in 14pt font instead of 13 font is absurd.
Follow instructions, turn in everything on time and you'll do well. She gives great feedback on assignments. Very nice and caring. If you need help, just ask and she'll answer your questions. She also gives a 10 minute break before the second half of class to let you relax.
She was a great professor overall! Turn in your work, and follow the coursework instructions (which are provided on paper and sometimes online) and you will be successful. However, she says attendance is important but always ends class an hour, or so early. But no big deal, the class was great!
Professor Red Feather is one of the best professors I've encountered at Normandale!! She is very organized and her lectures are fun and informative. She offers a ten minute break for her students to reset before the second half of class begins, demonstrating how considerate she is of her students. Her coursework is great, and not too much.
