easy teacher take her for the summer,,only 3 take home exams...nothing but discussions in her class and you take these quizes everyday that up your grade up,,cool teach
She has high demands, but reasonable ones. She provokes thought and re-examination of your thoughts, but not in a completely biased way. Her views are very clear, and she pushes them.
Her exams and research paper are a little challenging, but the class is interesting. She teaches outside the box. The material she teaches is thought provoking.
she's a great teacher. she teaches you a lot of things that you would really want to know.
Best teacher I have taken in college. She really helps you to think outside the box. You go professor Hund!
Good class if you like someone telling you their democratic views the entire class period. And then when you go to argue with her about it, she completely ignores your argument...........shes a good Michael Moore Advocate. Enough said!
VERY ENTHUSIASTIC TEACHER! GREAT lectures, very clear! FRIENDLY towards her students! i advise you to take her sociology 1 class because it gives you a WHOLE new outlook on life!
great teacher! loves the subject matter. first time teaching honors course and she did a great job. she's willing to help you out when you need it. highly recommended teacher.
She kicks ass. She doesn't tell you what to think.. but gives you all the criteria to make a decision on your own. She opens your eyes to new perspectives. She is passionate about the subject matter, and is able to relate with you! She let's you be opinionated without penalizing you for it! It's easy if you're willing to put out a little effort.
GREAT TEACHER, REALLY EASY U HAVE NOTECARDS DUE EVERYWEEK & HAS QUIZZES EVERYWEEK DEALING WITH THE THE 4 READINGS, SOUNDS DIFFICULT BUT IT'S REALLY EASY WORK,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!DO NOT LET YOUR CELL PHONE RING IN CLASS CAUSE SHE'LL KICK U OUT LITERALLY.....GREAT TEACHER
Good teacher, fair, clear and passionate about the subject.
Great teacher and what is learned in her class can be applied to other subjects.
Great teacher! Very easy to talk to and is understanding. Knows her subject well, and always maintains a light atmosphere in class. Lots of reading and essay assignments though.
I took her friday classes, she was very intimidating to the students, but she made us question ourselves and she wasnt afraid to push our buttons
I still think about the things she taught me over 5 years ago. She is awesome!
Very good teacher. Helps you to understand and analyze social issues from different perspectives.
I love Janet! She is the best teacher I have EVER had. She is passionate about the subject and you can tell that she loves to teach. I was intimidated by her syllabus, but her class was easy. If you get your note cards in early, participate in class, and use your outlines, you will be fine. Rock on Janet!!
She teaches in a mind opening way. I wish I could take her class again it was that good.
I dropped her class. Very moody and impersonal. Her recent marriage has probably added to her confusion.
I took Ms. Hund a couple of years ago. Her clas was very interesting. She even made me think about changing my major to sociology. If you are willing to read and follow instructions, Ms. Hund is the perfect teacher to take. I loved her!
She is very impersonal and if you are having a hard time in the class, she is not very helpful. She replies to your questions in a "smart ass" kind of way. Her assignments are confusing and unorganized. She will not explain why you got the grade that you did and she will not let you know how you can do better with the next assignments. She Sucks!
dont take her sociology online class! It is the worst!
She is one of the best teachers at LBCC. The way she teaches allows for you to think outside the box! Because of her class I aquired knowledge that I use on my everyday life!!! I encourage you to take her she will leave you impresed.
This class is very difficult, a lot of writing and reading is worst than taking a class on campus.
if you want to take a sociology class take anyone but here, she is a bad teacher!!! trust me!!
Very uninterested in teaching the student. Horrible internet class.
Internet class was horrible. Would never take her again, due to her opinion controlling the discussion topic grades. It was very depressing trying hard and not receiving quality grades on the discussion boards!!
You either love her or hate her. I personally enjoyed her class. There is a lot of reading and writing, but that makes one expand on their critical thinking skills. The discussions in her class were great, but it would help if the students got a little more involved with them. Dont take the class if you do not know how to write. Great Class!!!!!
MS. HUND IS A GREAT PROFESSOR. YOU SHOULD READ THE TEXT B/C IT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN CLASS. THERE'S NO HWK BESIDES THE READING. THERE'S 2 TAKE HOME ESSAYS, NO FINAL, AND A QUIZ ABOUT THE READING EACH WEEK. *READING A MUST (10 PTS POSSIBLE XTRA CREDIT GIVEN) WONDERFUL TEACHER. PASSIONATE ABOUT SOCIOLOGY.
I took her online Sociology class and she shows no academic interest in the student. Her online calss sucks and it's too much reading. Her point system is way off when it comes to tests there only 1point credit. don't take her online!!!
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Really commands you to get involved in the readings and social issues prevalent today. She was such a great teacher I have taken two of her classes. If you are interested in social conciousness take her class. If you just want to skate by this isn't the teacher for you.
shes rude, judmental, negative, did not learn anything positive,i learned a lot but its depressing, she makes you learn a lot. she makes caucasians look like overprivileged capatalists
She is a helpful teacher and very understanding, but can come off negative. You have to do the reading in order to do the quizzes, but she gives you all the tools to succeed. The outlines you can use on the test and the quiz questions are straight out of the book. She does expect you to participate. I'm glad I took her, she's a good teacher.
A dead bore! - dragged myself 2 class. Condescending attitude. Incomprehensible lectures with no clear focus. You can still get an A if you can stand it (so easy).Anyone who thinks she's a great professor never had one before (and still hasn't). Don't buy Main text, don't need, just buy text with articles for the quizes and download her lec. notes.
Unable to get response via e-mail several times. Seems to be unresponsive to inquiries about work.
Mrs. Hund is the best teacher at LBCC! She lets you use notes on the exams! Why wouldn't you take this teacher?! I learned so much. Just make sure you so the homework (very easy)!
Professor Hund is very uncooperative, unfriendly, and unprofessional. I have problems with clarification on how to submit assignments and she was very mean and ugly with the way she responded to me and my issues. I was not the only student in the class that had a problem with how to submit the assignments.
Took the online class. She expects you to read from the text & discussion board assignments require you to be sociologically in depth. You MUST become familiar w/ the theories & concepts. Assigns lots of homework. Extremely organized. Passionate about teaching & provides great outlines & notes. Can be rude & blunt, but teaching skils are great.
She is very rude. She doesn't respond to your emails. She expects you to know everything about sociology. When she does respond to you she come off as having a very nasty attitude just for asking a question. I wouldn't reccommend this teacher to anyone. This is an online class and I have to log on everyday just to keep up with this instructor.
Okay, before I even enrolled in the class she was already very rude in her email responses to me. I had to email her several times to get a response, and when I did it was waaay LATE, which is already bad for an online class. As for the class, academically it's not hard at all, as long as you're willing to put up with the snooty, unhelpful teacher.
Taking Sociology on-line is probably the first mistake. Nevertheless, it would not be nearly as challenging if the professor were willing to interact with you via e-mail and respond to your inquiries. Also, I placed a call to her office line, and she never responded to that, or addressed the issue in an e-mail. I will not drop, despite her.
Absoutely horrible teacher. Worst one I've had for an online course ever! She has her students post stuff on the announcements page, making me wonder if she actually graded our work or had her students do it for her. Do NOT take this teacher if given the option. Rude on the discussion boards.... Nasty comments on papers, grading, etc.
THINK TWICE...I took her for summer 09. I am a senior @ a Univer.,"B average", and was just taking the class to enhance major. She was beyond critical on assignments.I have never had someone be so harsh. She can come off rude and sarcastic when you genuinely ask for help. If you take her GOOD LUCK!
Just don't do it. Thats all I can say.....just read the other comments. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!
I can understand how some students might think she?s difficult, but if you transfer to an elite university, you should expect it to be this hard. I know, I went to UCLA. You need to think BEYOND your perspective. Think about the BIG picture and how race structures our world.
This was a hard class. I had no interest in the material before I started the class. Professor Hund seems a bit aloof with communicating HOWEVER she makes what she expects CRYSTAL CLEAR. I got an A in her class and it was FASCINATING. I RECOMMEND HER CLASS. Online classes are always hard. If you couldn't hang that maybe why. HUND IS A GOOD TEACHER.
Professor is very clear when it comes to what she expects The problem with many students is that they do not have the writing skills needed and don't know how to express what they read in their own words or so other people can comprehend it. It does not matter whether or not you went to a "top university." I got an A. Can be blunt, she returns em
Got top scores, only 1 point off first paper and 2 points off second. A little overwhelmed at the end of class, so only did work enough to get a B. Professor is fair and extremely clear on what she wants. Will definitely let you know if your writing skills are not college level, so suggest you prepare for class, read material and turn work in on
Prof. Hund is good teacher and takes things very serious. I took online class in Summer with her that was fast than usually, and a lot of works. She goes over every discussing board to give students evaluation. She gave feed back on exams. I would recommend to take her class.
Took online but I read the book cover to cover. I was fully divested but prof. Hund cannot be pleased. She docked me 10pts 4 times, didn't give credit for submitted documents, criticized the entire groups posts, and gives little instruction. I got a B and I am an A student. Made this class harder than it really was. Want a lower grade, take her.
Hund was a great teacher. She is tough but tells you what she expects the first day. Writting is important and she will let you know every wrong detail. However she is willing to work with you and help you out if you take the time to talk with her. She answers emails with good timing and will send you links to help you out. I reccommend taking her!
She's intimidating the first day, but you grow to like her. She grades fairly. She's very clear on what she expects. Just study and participate in class. She likes if you join the class discussions, and she will take participation points away if all you do is sit there quietly all semester. I got a B, not complaining.
Online class was a disaster she takes points off for the smallest reasons making it hard to get an "A". big waste of time garbage class
GOOD LUCK
She is a little tuff, but she prepares you for future Cal State & University work. Shes an awesome teacher & very understanding. She tells you exactly what she wants and participation is a must its half of your grade. As long as you do you work, ask questions, & participate your good. Dont be scared to take her class! Loved professor hund!
She is very well informed in the subject matter and well prepared all time during the class. She get the attention of her students because of her energy and encouragement which gives motivation as well.
Professor Hund is great! Very engaged in what she's teaching. Just stay on top of your reading and assignments. Her course definitely gets you to shift your paradigm. Great class!
If you stay on top of your reading this class will be easy. She talks about modern time events that relate to the chapter. It is a pretty cool class.
Great, resourceful teacher, always makes herself available, doesn't take role, and will always work with your answers in class so that you can do well on assign. which she grades more seriously
Participation, reading the text, group project, and presentation is important. If you're shy, theres opportunities online for points. She's a cool teacher just don't slack off and you'll do great.
She's an interesting lady. She knocks off points for weird things. Talks more about herself and her trips to Vietnam, Ghana & Germany than anything else. I think she teaches just so she can talk about herself. If you email her a question, she wont answer it, just explain what she originally said again, in a diff way. She always says GOOD LUCK lol
SO frustrating! Online format was poorly maintained, instructions were always unclear and she would take points off for things not specified in the instructions. If you do badly on the discussion, you will get a short sentence saying what you missed with no positive examples or encouragement. She made the material twice as hard as it needed to be.

A great teacher, she truly is passionate about the subject she teaches, though at times it seems a tad bit biased. Participation is a must in her class, if you are shy the online discussion may be a better suit. Aced both exams, tests are based heavily on material within the textbook, only drawback is the group presentation worth 40% of your grade.
How she teaches is hard to understand, there's so much material and what I think pointless assignments, she provides help if needed, she sometimes seems biased and lenient to her point of view only, long study guides(not useful) tests are somewhat difficult because of so much material that you have to learn on your own, she goes off topic a lot
She's a great teacher, and she passionate about her work and her students. She may seem intimidating, but she's deeply involved in helping students and attending trustees board of meetings, etc. She's very clear on what she expects in class. Attend class, listen to her, and you'll be fine. She gives a lot of extra credit, and gives clarification.
Professor Hund has been such an inspiration. I absolutely love her class, she is very intelligent and funny. She really makes you think, her lectures are always interesting and she is extremely helpful if you ask her for help when you are lost. Lots of opportunities for extra credit, She is an amazing woman! Take her classsssssss! Take it!!!!!
She is a tough grader soley because all her exams are essay formats. To save your life, write about what she wants to read and you'll get an A.
Ms. Hung is a super tough grader. The class consisted of 9 discussion boards and 2 essays. Each essay consisted of 3 separate essays so in total there were 6. Discussion boards worth only 4 points making it only possible to get an "A," "C," or an "F." You need to put a lot of effort into everything you write or you will not get full points.
Professor Hund is an amazing instructor! She is very helpful and you can tell she loves her job and is in it to help you. The book was a little over $100 but she offered a free downloadable copy of the book online. She gives tons of extra credit and keeps the class interesting. If you're taking Sociology I advise you to take her! She's amazing.
Great professor, falls off track a little but she teachers her subject very well. There were very few assignments as a whole semester, just like 2worksheets, 2multiple choice test, 2essays, one individual presentation, and one group presentation. Just know the subject when the test comes around and it's all good. Participate! Very Interesting!
Prof. Hund is an amazing professor, she really cares for her students and knows her stuff!! she's one of the best professors in the sociology dept. she gives great feedback, a lot of work, and has high expectations for her students. she is extremely helpful and supportive. Great class just be ready to work. don't slack off.
Professor Hund's class is fairly simple, just go and listen and participate, it goes a long way. She has only a few assignments and she grades easily. She's passionate about what she teaches and she's a nice lady, I really enjoyed her class, and I didn't really go in with that great of an expectation for it. No textbook to buy, it's free online
I really enjoyed Prof Hund's class. Very passionate about Sociology and knows her stuff. Take home exams were the best! Definitely recommend.
I've known Professor Hund for 2 years now. I love Sociology and the way she teaches it really challenges the way you think. For my class, the textbook was online and free! There was a supplemental text, but it wasn't too much. The exams are take-home essays. If you're struggling, just talk with her. Professor Hund is awesome.
ONLINE: Wow. No communication before class started. Grading system was convoluted and completely at her discretion. Book and notes were two different worlds. Forum discussion topics were too broad. Doesn't seem to care. Not sacrificing my 4.0 for one professor's laziness, so I dropped. My new $100 binder book was probably worth avoiding this mess.
Online class with 10 discussion posts(40), 2 mc exams with short essays (120), & 1 essay (20) for a total of 180 pts, so every pt counts! Offered 1 3pt EC. At times she is vague about what she wants & gives no grading rubric for essays but takes off points for little things so grading seems subjective. Interesting concepts but tough class for an A!
Took this class online over the summer. She isn't that bad, but definitely makes you work for every point. She seemed kind of cold at first but towards the end you could tell she cared about her students/teaching sociology. Only thing I wished from her would be to give more encouraging feedback during grading. I'd take her again, though.
Lots of reading from course books. Exams are papers. Good professor, just not my style.
Took her Intro to sociology class online, it seemed like a easy class to me. Sometimes I had a hard time understanding sociological terms but you get what you put in. discussion posts 2 a week, 2 exams, and an essay. The directions for all assignments are straight forward and she offers extra credit. Easy pass as long as you put in the effort
I recently took her and everyone on here has over-exaggerated on her level of difficultly. To the students who are considering taking her class: the amount of work is a lot, but doable and manageable. I recommend taking notes from the text, and also take advantage of any extra credit opportunities. As long as you put in effort, you will pass.
She's a nice lady, knows what she's talking about, and you can tell she's passionate about sociology. However, she gives WAY too much work for a 3 unit class. Her exams are LONG and DIFFICULT, you have to give a 10 minute single presentation, group presentation. Oh, and DLA that takes 2 hours is mandatory.
She grades papers harder than any English professor i have taken. Her lectures are boring and repetitive, Online quiz every week (she might change that since she asked for feedback and everyone agreed quizzes did not help). Overall, she made me hate sociology, not to sound mean, i had 89.2% and went to office hours. Very detail oriented. Got a B :)
Her lectures are confusing. Many assignments and not an easy grader. 8 pages essay for mid-term and finals. Not recommended.
Prof. Hund is passionate about sociology and despite the heaviness of our modern social problems, Prof. Hund's candid and unapologetic approach to these issues is refreshing. The subject matter is often heavy and difficult to remain optimistic about but if you are passionate about becoming a sociologist, Prof. Hund doesn't sugar coat the reality.
I took professor Hund's class not expecting much of it but she surpassed my expectations. I think a lot of her negative reviews come from online students. In class she's very passionate, she's clear on what she wants and it's a great learning experience. I wouldn't say it was my favorite class ever but it was one of the better ones. Take her.
I passed with a B. I took her online class this summer and she is caring because she let me know that I was going to fail if I didn't improve myself. Anyway, she provides good feedback so I acknowledge that about her.
She eats, sleeps, breathes Sociology and her passion for social issues makes the class AMAZING. She'll go the extra mile to make sure all her students pass and do well, always available outside of class, and genuinely cares for students. Weekly response papers, group Powerpoint pres., 2 take-home essay exams, and one 5-page term paper. TAKE HER!!
Taking this course is a good idea based on the material load. You dont have much homework and 2 projects and 2 exams. The final is a group project. If you miss class after a few days she goes out of her way to reach out to you which i found thoughtful because it shows she cares. Go in depth with the study guides. lastly shes lenient but communicate
Knowledgeable, resourceful, and respected individual. Excellent educator. Requires you to go deeper into the material. You will be better equipped to analyze and form educated opinions on social issues. Highly recommend taking her class in person not online. Doesn't assign many assignments outside of the reading and exams. Uses free textbooks!!
If you can, choose a different profesor. Shes a complex grader.
She is willing to help. The exams are mutlipe choice so be prepared to read before you take it. I didn't get a good grade on both exams. Quizzes are easy.
Two DLA's, 2 Worksheets, 3 essays, two tests, and a group project. She may seem pretty tough at first but shes very understanding. Her lectures could get a little boring but half way through the semester they got really interesting. This class really shows you how unequal this world is; it opened my eyes to the injustice we receive. Good teacher!
Prof. Hund is an amazing teacher. I learned so much in her class and she really challenged me to think of things from a different perspective. She made me very interested in the subject sociology, and I will probably take another socio class because of how great her class was.
Very strict on grammar and grades essays and papers like an English professor. I have taken 3 other Sociology classes, and all the other professors mainly focused on students understanding what was going on and as long as the professor was able to understand what you are trying to say it was fine, but not this prof. Her extra credits are 3 points..
Professor is clear regarding how she grades the assignments and the class itself is very inspiring and relevant to current society. Overall a fairly easy course.
She cares about her students and wants them to succeed in their educational career. She is a great professor and the learning and work is interactive.
Professor Hund is a great professor! She offers extra credit, the work definitely prepares you to go to a university, and the class is fun. Prof. Hund truly cares about your success, she works with you if you need to make something up, she pushes you to be your best, she is passionate, and she practices what she teaches.
Professor Hund has to be one of the best professors at LBCC. She was able to talk about the problems in American society to this day. She's very tough and allows feedback on papers. 101% RECOMMEND!!
While taking Socio 11 I have learned so much about race and ethnicity. This course has taught me a lot about society norms and behaviors, as well as how I view society. Thank you so much for your patient and understanding with me in regards that I need to proof read more. :-)
I really liked this class because it was interesting. Hund encourages you to participate and it is a good thing since she remembers who you are when grading . There is one group presentation and you have to get ready to write paper responses for the chapters and I think two or four essays. Essay class
I took this for winter session so it was very quick - over a hundred pages a week. But it's worth it. I have a passion for the subject but I've never gotten to take a sociology class before and it was great. She is responsive, gives very helpful feedback, and you have to work hard.
She loves what she teaches. If you are a sociology major then you will benefit from this class. She is meticulous and very inspirational. Don't be scared by the rating that she has. Turn in all your tests, papers, discussion board posts, etc & you will get an A. She accepts late work & extra credit! Make sure you are thorough!
Professor Hund is a good teacher but is a tough grader. Everything is "fine" and could be better, but it's a positive thing that she gives feedback and sometimes comments her own ideas on your work. There is a lot of reading in this class so be prepared to read a lot of articles. There is no textbook which was nice, everything you need is provided.
I took her online class in the middle of the pandemic. Professor Hund was very gracious and flexible depending on her students situations. I learned a lot by taking her class and appreciated that she kept the material current and continually provided resources to stay up to date. Her class is very straight forward and you know what to expect.
Professor Hund made a huge impact on my life during one of the most difficult Times the world has gone through. Her class was like an escape for me And to learn about race and ethnic backgrounds and their relations to each other, all of this relevant to the current events. Ive never felt so connected to my through zoom. I miss her and my class!!
Took this in the winter last year, so it was at a faster pace, but it was easy. She is such a sweetheart and helps you if needed. Homework isn't hard it's making posters or slides online. Textbook was free for me because it was provided with the online version to help us out a bit.
Professor Hund was supportive of work, school, life balance. She did allow for some late assignments if you let her know in advance. If you try on the reading, assignments and discussions, you shouldn't have too hard of time getting 100% on the weekly quizzes.
Great professor, passionate about what she teaches and preaches. Offers great feedback and believes in humanity. Inspirational and assignments are not difficult. Be prepare to read otherwise you will not pass. The assignments are engaging and i does not feel like a "task", instead very intriguing.
