Some course material may be difficult, but she is very clear and makes thing easy to understand. She takes the time to talk with you one-on-one if you need help. Big on attendance. I took a second course from her.

This class is not for those seeking an easy "A". If you're a dedicated and committed student, you will do fine. If you don't prepare for class, you'll die. This is a great class for those who are in college to LEARN something.

Excellent class if you are willing to apply yourself. There is alot of reading but what else would you expect from a literature class? I am not a fan of literature but this class was surprisingly enjoyable.

This class was interesting and enjoyable. The class discussions were interesting considering some of the stories from this time period are boaring. You will do well if you apply yourself and prepare. Mrs. Shanteau is also very funny.

not for slackers. gives reading assignments and then a quiz the next day. Not too much reading: usually something every night that's 2-5 pages long. Only about 3 things 30p +. A fun writing project instead of a boring essay. Tests are short essay only.

Ms. Shanteau is a great English teacher. I tought that her methods of teaching were very clear and she is very fair in her grading. She treats her students with respect as long as you respect her.

i'm in her american lit class right now and i like it better than eng 1102 when i had her. there is still a lot more reading but it just seems more fun since its a summer course. she is very helpful and is fair about grading

I took Ms. Shanteau 2 summers ago in a minimester. As long as you read all the material and come to class, it is an easy A. I recommend taking it in the summer, i think she cut the work load. However, I know more about her family than I do my own! :)

Took her a year ago and I thought she was a good teacher. As long as you keep up on your reading you will be fine. She can be a tough grader and knows when you are BS-ing. She is more than willing to help you if you need it.

She is very opinionated, and often boring. If she doesn't like you, it will reflect in your grades. DON'T SHOW UP LATE EITHER! It is one of her biggest pet peeves.

This class is an easy A as long as you go to every class.She is very particular with being on time...so dont be late.Quizzes are based on the readings and as long as she can tell you read, you get an A. Tests same thing, do the reading and you will get an A.I found her discussions interesting.

I so much enjoyed this class. Professor Shanteau is an excellent english instructer who knows what she is talking about. She is so nice to her students and takes time to answer any and all questions. She grades fairly and will give you a chance no matter who you are. She does not put up with slacker

I got off to a rough start with her but you can make an A in the class if you figure out what she wants. If you give her that you make the grade. It is a fun class and she is a very good teacher.

Very easy class if you take notes every day over the stories you had to read. She tells you everything to study for on the tests. She also gives quizzes at least once or twice a week over the story she assigned.

for the ratings i saw i thought this prof. was going to be diff. but she was actually very nice and helpful. the quizzes really help and she gives you 2 free 100s and drops the lost quiz grade. just come on time and listen to what she says and you will get an A on the tests and in class. THE RESEARCH PAPER IS NOT HARD AT ALL- THE EASIST.

She is so nice. Next semester I plan on picking her as my teacher. She is extremly helpful. She doesn't mind staying after class to help one out with their essays. She really deserves a raise.

Truly an extraordinary woman. Mrs. Shanteau is the teacher that I'd always imagined I'd have in college; it just took two years to find her. She really knows her subject and knows how to keep my attention span constant. I had her for two half-semester classes and made an A and B, respectively. Take her seriously, though.

This teacher is great. She's extremely friendly and helpful. Everytime I needed help, she would stay after class and help me. She is very respectful to her students, and she is an extremely nice person. I advise students, who want a great teacher, to pick her. She is one in a million!!!

Great teacher! If you can not work with the professor..then this is not for you. Quizzes are just over the reading= A. Many extra credit opportunities. Overall great class. HArdest grading is on the research paper, but she will help if you ask.

She was very helpful and was there for the students. Informed what would be on the test and quizes and gave clues on what to pay the most attention to when reading.

Mrs. Shanteau's class wasn't easy. She's a good teacher, reviews everything in class. There is a LOT of reading. Make sure you read, she loves pop quizzes. Tests are pretty easy and she assigns extra credit.

WARNING: Do not take her for your GPA's sake!!! She seems nice at first, but she's pompous and quite rude at times. I used to get As and high Bs on essays before, but she is ridiculous. She screwed my 4.0! I doubt she ever gave anyone above a 95. Way too much reading and she does pop quiz on it. Knowledgable, though. RUN AWAY FAST!!!

She is a good teacher. He class was very challenging, but an A is possible. If you want a lot of feedback, you have to go out of your way to meet with her during her office hours (which isnt crazy or anything). She is kinda strict, but she isnt a bad teacher.

I'm not sure why everyone graded Shanteau so poorly. I've been out of high school for a while, but I found her Eng 2131 class to be interesting. I have an 85 in the class, and i'm not really an English kind of guy. If you follow the schedule and put some effort in doing the work, you will get a good grade. if you want a easy A, it won't happen.
