very nice, learn a lot, she makes everything extremely clear :)
good teacher, four papers, no final, easy points
No Comments
Didn't learn a thing 4 essays took too long to grade.
basicly writes paper for you and gives u all the ideas u need- no final
The class definitely possesses a kindergarten mentality...she's a nice woman and all (and attractive for her age, might I add) but if you actually want to learn something (meaning: at a more advanced level) then i would recommend taking another class.
easy teacher and she gives you everything you need to write your papers.no final
Someone said Kindergarten. Yep, she makes you feel like that. She's really nice but makes you think Jr. High teacher. The discussions help in writing your papers. Take notes, spit out what was said in discussion, and you'll do well, my friend.
yep, she babies you through two 6-8 page papers and 1 8-10 page paper, that's it! easy grader, drags on class tho.
She is the nicest teacher and babies you but go to class it's not hard at all!
Janet is the nicest professor that I have come across in any college course. If you need help or don't understand something just talk to her. She walks you through every assignment and doesn't let you procrastinate.
Even if you don't understand the reading, she basically tells you all that you need to write in your 3 papers. Very sweet lady, she's more than welcome to help you.
i learned so much and became a better writer as a result...explains everything very well
shes the bomb, easygoing
she's hot hot hot

explains well and gives lots of time to do projects.
The last reviewer was full of hogwash. templeton is not a college level professor and anyone who thinks she is college level is either deluding themselves or isn't interested in actually learning and doing college level work.
Such a nice lady. Although it reminded me of a highschool class maybe even eaiser i still learned a lot. The essay topics were sometimes hard but she could easily help you through them. All around very nice woman and easy class.
Okay class. I don't feel I improved with my writing. She tells you what to write, you don't even have to think much.
Great teacher, my writing improved and she is an easy grader. She is very nice, best RWS teacher!
She is really kind. It's true what the other person said though; you don't have to think much. Not a challenging class. I ended up with an A. Ignore the person that said, "if you don't get an A in her class you don't deserve to be in college."
Super annoying voice. Didn't like the class. Didn't teach me anything new, just confused me. She's nice but not a very good teacher. Biased. Person who said "Anyone who doesn't get an A doesn't deserve to be in college" is full of****.
take this class rws sucks in general so you might as well have an easy teacher
Class seemed easy, but she grades unfairly. Even if you do all the corrections she tells you to, you won't end up with an A on your paper. Nice enough teacher, but she'll do anything to keep you until the end of the class period. She likes to hear herself talk and assign busy work. I don't feel that I learned anything in this class.
This class is a waste. You go to class and you feel like you want to die. Everything in the class has a theme and you will be writing basically the same paper like 4 times. She grades pretty hard and is so boring that most of the time you will try to slip out of the door early. Makes short discussions like an hour long. don't take
Easy class, and an awesome lady. Nicest professor I had, and never gets angry. The essays aren't too bad. She tells you exactly what to write, and just embellish. The class gets painfully repetative, but it's better than a difficult class.
Grades hard. Do what she says and you still get a bad grade. Class is borin.
this class is TOO EASY. you only have 3 major assignments the whole semester and she cancels 2 or 3 class meetings each project to meet with everyone individually. Light reading, but clear projects. I may have gotten a B in this class but its totally idiot-proof. If you get a C or lower in this class, then something is wrong.
Really nice, friendly, and helpful teacher. The assignments are really easy and she tells you what she wants. She'll cancel class time to meet with you. Feels like a high school class at times. Assignments seem irrelvant to help improve your writing skills. But overall really easy.
Need to have perfect papers to get an A. Beware if thats what you want!
a stupid writing class. I am gay so her hotness was wasted opn me you straight guys have fun looking
yeah she is hot, but that assinine writing 305 W class what a piece of crap. She gave me a d- on my biography. i am 48 how rude she is
SHe is cool
i got into this class by only 2 pts, so i was bored for a lot of it. she does a lot to explain the essays and readings. she helps a lot in improving your writing skills and making arguments very clear.
A BS Writing Class. Templeton is nice but class is not an easy A. A lot of little assignments, mandatory attendance, and 3 big writing projects. First in-class Essay is a grade killer so watch out!
Class was a little boring and repetitive but she explains exactly what to write on the essays. Go to class for attendance. Everyday youll get in groups with your classmates. Overall a very nice prof. I got an A.
Overall Prof. Tempelton is a good teacher. If you want an "A" take advantage of office hours and participate in class. This class is what you make of it, meaning it has the potential to be interesting if the class is into the subject matter. If not enough people participate it will be a long hour and fifteen minutes.
GO TO CLASS! she takes attendance & has a sign in sheet. I tried real hard in her class and didn't get an A. She doesn't give those out too often - you really have to kiss her ass to get one! If you could take someone else for RWS, I'd say take them. You have to write your papers EXACTLY the way she wants them, or you'll fall short of your A.
She is hawt!! She is a fair grader, I took this class cr/nc. I would of gotten an A if I took it for a grade. Shes fair and nice. Take this class...
She is one of the best English teachers ive ever had. I recommend her and i suggest if you ever need help on an essay go to her office hours. shes nice and helpful. I hope to take her again
Nice teacher, mandatory reading. Essays kick your butt, you really have to start weeks prior and go to her conference hours because A's are not common with her.
Easy, takes attendance, classes lag. 2 papers and a final project (paper plus presentation) and 1 in class writing assign. Quizzes on assigned reading. Papers kind of require a lot of effort to get a good grade. If you can take this class credit no credit or you'll probably end up with a B cause it's not an easy A. I tried really hard and got a B.
must go to class, use a reader she creates daily, i took a one day a week one and overall didn't try too hard and got a B....couple papers(start early), about 5 quizzes that are on some small readings.....if you go you will get B
very good professor. she is very helpful when it comes to writing papers- she will help you with any information she can. her grading is very fair as well.
She is a really great professor. I came into the class knowing nothing about logos, pathos and ethos, but in the end I felt really confident about my writing. If you try you can get an A =D I did!
she's very helpful and is like a kindergarten teacher. lol.
GOOD TEACHER, REALLY NICE. SHE TAKES ATTENDANCE, SO MAKE SURE YOU GO TO HER CLASS (SHE ALLOWS 3 ABSENCES, MORE THAN THAT U GET PENALIZED). OVERALL, IF UR GOOD WITH ESSAYS, THIS WILL BE A PRETTY EASY CLASS.
Very good teacher. She really tries to help you. Did around 4-5 essay in the semester
A lot of reading, it was like taking a philosophy class, but she goes over what you need to know to write essays, ask questions, got ot her office hours, she is willing to help, if you put in the time
took this class over summer. it was pretty easy. 3 or 4 different kinds of easy papers. got a B in the class.
YO MAN ! Very good teacher overall! Keeps the essays on a clear note for what you have to do. Gives good examples and gives helpful feedback if you're able to visit her office hours. Might lose track of what's going on in the class sometimes because English gets pretty boring but still highly recommend her.
Took this class my first semester as a freshman and loved it! Everyday after class i was happy that i got my ass up and went! Great literature and passionate teaching is what makes her a great teacher. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves good writing and annotating literature.
She is a great professor. Not easy but not hard. She gives 4 crazy easy quizzes and three papers. You can revise one of the first two. She is very thorough in explaining so it's good to go to class. Middle to end of semester class was cancelled so we could just focus on writing our paper. I would definitely recommend her! She's really nice! :)
Nicest lady! She really cares about her students and teaching them. Material is interesting, criteria explained clearly, and she goes through each paper throughout the writing process. I loved her and definitely became a better writer in her class. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Easy teacher. She is very helpfull, go into her office hours. Barely attended class, I ended up passing when i thought i wasn't going too.
Super nice professor. Papers are more interesting then any other papers I've written at this school. The points possible besides points from the papers are pretty easy. She's very helpful.
Really nice teacher and the class is pretty easy. Attendance is mandatory which is the only bummer, but she allows a couple absences and late assignments. I still have her class reader for dirt cheap if anyone's interested text/call Rob (760)8899942.
She was a quick fill in to take our class at Cuyamaca College. She is a really good teacher. She really helped you with the structures of papers, and help make you a stronger writer. I highly suggest taking her.
She takes too long to get to the point of what her class needs to know for the assignment
This teacher is the best english teacher ever! Very helpful during office hours and will take her time to help you during class.
She was extremely nice and helpful during my summer course. I wish I had her for this years rws class. Readings are interesting and can relate to students.
She is a very nice professor but her readings were hella boringggg! she was a fair grader and helpful in the office hours. Attendance is important.
She is the nicest lady you'll ever meet. She was a great professor who was SO helpful during her office hours. Readings can be boring, but at least they related somehow to everyday lives.
honestly if u can take someone else. shes super boring. its an easy class but its so boring. she doesnt really explain things right, and she assigns reading and u never talk about it only buy the course reader and thats it wait for class to start.
One of the nicest teachers I've had at SDSU. She really cares for her students and wants everybody to do well. My only complain were the readings were really boring. There were 3 easy reading quizzes and 3 essays. Essays were easy, she clearly states what she wants and is very helpful during office hours. Take her if you struggle with writing!
super sweet teacher! easy class. she literally tells you everything you need to have in your essays if you listen carefully and take good notes when she goes over the readings. you dont need the keys for writers. just buy her other book thats a collection of the readings for her class
I really liked going to her class. She tells very interesting stories, which are related to the topic. She always gives examples of things you should include in your writings. Also, go to her office hours, you won't regret it. Get to know her, and she'll love you! I really recommend her.
She's such a nice teacher, TAKE HER! Very helpful, she cares about you! And you can tell she loves her job.
she is super nice and loves her job. she rarely takes attendance and allows late assignments and a rewrite of one of your first two papers. take her class
TAKE HER! She's very helpful and really encourages you to keep going. I didn't like RWS, but once I took her class I enjoyed this course very much that I'm actually looking forward to more rws courses. TAKE HER! You won't regret it.
Tempelton is so nice, however, she does grade a little harder. She does in fact go over your papers and tells you what you need to do, so in the end just literally do what she says and youll be fine. She takes attendance so make sure you go!
The class isn't all that hard but my god is it boring. She is super nice but if you take her class do not take it in the morning or you will be put to sleep.
She kind of rambles on and on about each topic making the students less engaged with the discussions. Overall though she is helpful when it comes to revising papers, she tries her best to be there for every student
She is very nice but i often fell asleep or found myself bored while in her class. Make sure you show up for every single class because if you are not there you can fail the course after 3 missed classes. TAKE ADVANTAGE of the tutor! I never did and i didn't pass the course. Sometimes VERY vague with the assignments so pay close attention in class.
Templeton is a good instructor especially for RWS 92 I took this class over the summer and fail, but I retook the course and pass the second. I personally recommend Templeton for any RWS class. Class is boring, but she is extremely helpful she is willing to help office hours does help.
She is very nice and smart, but she grades papers hard and takes for ever to grade papers. In my class we never did peer edits.
I would highly recommend Tempelton. She cares about her students success if you are willing to work hard for your grade. Lectures can be a little slow at times.
Wrote a 12 page paper on heroes. She is nice and all your grade is passed on 4 essays.
Possibly the nicest professor on campus, but don't expect aneasy grade. She gives a ton of feedback on the papers and tells you what you need to fix for the next paper. 4 papers, 6-10pages each. Good luck.
Tempelton is by far the worst English teacher I ever had. Her essays were all horrible and long especially the last one where we had to compare: Plato, St. Augustine, and the movie star wars in a 10 page paper. DO NOT TAKE!
She is not a really tough grader. You just need to follow the format she wants to see. For RWS 100, she constantly makes you write essays about "Happiness." Her lectures are extremely helpful because she basically does the outline for you. In other words, she writes on the boar questions to which answers become your explanation or body paragraph.
Sweetest teacher! Her classes are pretty boring though, you need to show up or you get deducted points. This is collegewhat's the point of taking attendance. Other than that the essay's are pretty easy. She meets with you individually and even helps you with a topic. Easy class.
Your grade is based on 4 papers, but the papers are long and you need to spend a lot of time on them. The class itself is really boring and feels like it goes on forever. On the plus side she is really nice, but I felt like she wasn't that helpful in the conferences. Wished I looked at rate my professor before taking her class.
Honestly, I thought she was a really good professor. Topics she discusses are interesting and the papers she assigns are not that difficult. She explains well what you need to discuss on your essay in class, and if you still need more guidance, she corrects part of your rough draft during conferences, saying exactly what to change. 4 essays total.
She is a very helpful teacher, just not very clear. No tests, 4 easy quizzes all on LOTR, and 4 essays. Quizzes are very easy if you read. The prompts for the essays are vague and she grades essays not super easy nor super hard. She's not an easy A professor but more like an easy B. Attendance is for points, but you can miss 3 days.
Great teacher! 4 essays were given throughout the semester and no final.
I found her incredibly unorganized. She pushed back the due dates on essays 3 times because she could not grade them fast enough. Then, she could not meet with all of us before an essay was due, so she referred us to the TA (who does not grade papers). Overall, a huge disconnect with the students and a terrible experience.
So straightforward, she'll tell you exactly what she wants on her essays. No homework, only 4 essays (the prompts were a bit repetitive but very easy). You don't need to go to class if a friend can sign you in, but I suggest going because even though it's boring, she'll basically tell you what to write. No class when conferencing. Very helpful.
Totally disorganized and unprepared. She asks such basic and dull questions that most just don't bother to answer, then she gets upset that no one is participating. If you need RWS305 you'll pass easily but you'll want to scream by the end of every class. The class meets way too often and showing up is mandatory.
This class is not easy but I really did enjoy it. All you do in class is prepare to write your essay. If you go to class, take notes, and listen to what she says, writing your essays will not be too difficult. She does conferencing for each essay where you meet up with her and get feedback. Tempelton is a lovely person and professor. TAKE HER!
She makes you write 4 papers throughout the semester and gives really good feedback for each one, lets you know what she wants. She does have some quizzes based on a book, actually read the book or you will not pass the quizzes.
Kind of dreaded going to class because it's not really helpful, it's just for participation. She asks the most basic questions that are basic common sense and no one cares to answer which makes the class drag on. For those who quickly attain her writing style it is easy however, I found her prompts to be vague, while her expectations were specific.
Tempelton is kind of a tough grader but when you go to conferencing she clearly tells you what to change or analyze in your paper. She's nice and is willing to help you get a good grade. Show up to your conference date on time and ask lots of questions. Sometimes felt like she graded higher on papers that validated her own beliefs.
Tempelton was a sweet professor and helped set up the essays (four the entire semester). There are also a couple quizzes on a book you read during the semester. The essays are worth 80% of the class, participation is 10% (sign-in sheet passed around in the beginning of class) and quizzes are the last 10%. She gives good feedback so you can improve.
I LOVED Professor Tempelton! We watched The Little Mermaid and Star Wars in her class, and only three essays are assigned. We also read A Wrinkle in Time, which is a children's book. Attendance is required, which kind of sucked. She is also a bit specific on what she wants in the essays, so pay attention to what she says in class.
Such a sweet lady! You will write 3 papers on the topic of Good and Evil that are each 5 page minimum. I am someone who struggles with English but if you go to her office hours or email her with questions she will give you amazing feedback and can EASILY get an A! I didn't really learn anything but I loved her class and she is a such a caring lady.
She is such a cool and easy teacher. She really cares about her students doing well. Only wrote 3 essays and one of them was our final. She gives a lot of feedback on essays and pretty much helps you write them.
She is a tough grader but is very specific on what she wants her students to write about. She provides you with SO much feedback. The majority of the class revolves around your essay scores (there are a couple quizzes). I heard if you go into her office hours she helps A LOT with how she likes you to write, so do that. Also, she's super nice.
No tests, just 3 essays the whole semester and some quizzes based on a really easy book we read. Shes a tough grader, but leaves lots of feedback on your papers. She meets with you beforehand to check your paper, so make sure to take advantage and ask questions. Class can be pretty boring and its mandatory, but shes a really nice lady.
The entire class is based off 3 essays, no final which was nice but she is a super hard grader when it comes to essays, the best grade I got on an essay was a B. She gives lots of feedback on the essays which was nice but each essay had a different prompt so it wasn't like you could apply those improvements on the next paper
Loved her as prof. she really cares about her students so take advantage of office hours. I took her for rws100 and 200 and only ever got Bs on my papers even with her corrections. She can be a tough grader so it's not an easy A but definitely an easy B
Class attendance is mandatory so you have to go. She outlines what you do each day and when there will be quizzes on A Wrinkle in Time which is easy if you read the book. The class is divided into 3 essays and 1 short writing assignment and she grades very critically. Also, she basically says in class what you should put in your essay.
Easy class. Just show up and take notes. you should be fine.
Tempelton was a great teacher. She allowed you to turn in your essays again once she gave you the feedback. Four essays and on is a final essay, a few quizzes on the articles she makes you read throughout the semester (they're easy she just wants to make you've read it), easy midterm. I just didn't like that she would input the grades fast
Pros: Her analysis of the text nearly writes the essay for you. Going to each class is the best way to write essays without actually reading the text. It's pretty hard to do bad. She's also nice and caring, wants you to succeed. Cons: Probably one of the most boring classes I've ever had since most classes consist of analyzing text
GO to class because theres attendance points. You read 1 book and the quizzes on it are legit a joke. However, the 4 papers you do are graded very tough. You'll have conferences for the papers. Definitely record a voice memo during those. She is a tough grader!! Make sure you fix everything she says in papers because its hard to get As on them.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS! She is sweet and you can tell she is very passionate about writing. However, she grades tough and is super nit picky about everything. If your idea is not similar to her thinking she will not give you a good grade. She never agrees with her TA's writing style so if you go to them for conferencing youre screwed.
Very lecture heavy and quite honestly she speaks in such a low and soft voice that it's hard to keep your eyes open. Your grade is based mainly on 3 essays and some group discussions in class. Show up to class because those discussion points add up.
Even though this class can get a little boring, Tempelton is awesome. This class is very essay heavy, and they count a lot for your grade. However, she basically outlines everything you need to write for these essays in class, essentially writing it for you. The last essay is the most difficult, but her office hours help a lot
She lectured during the whole class and passed around a paper to count attendance each time. The class is graded on 3 essays, which are all on types of good vs evil, and book quizzes on A Wrinkle in Time. She is a hard grader on the essays, but for the book quizzes, I used sparknotes for each chapter& got an A or B+ on all of them.
Do not take her online in the fall! She was a good teacher until she ghosted all emails I sent her once we went online. I could not get in contact with her at all and she held no office hours. Was very hard to write essays with no in person discussions. She also rarely followed through with deadlines she set. Also the TA's feedback contradicted her
I took this online, and it has been one of the easiest so far with pretty straight forward homework. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is I feel very distant from Tempelton. I havent had a single interaction with her, and she doesnt post lectures or anything. Youre pretty much 100% on your own. This can be difficult when it gets to be essay time.
I'm not sure if this class will be better in person, but online she took an excessive amount of time giving feedback for the essays. It would've been great to know what I did right/wrong before having to turn in the next essay. She would often change due dates because she was behind on grading. If she were to give feedback earlier she would be good
I took this class online and I have not met this professor before. This class is based heavily on reading text and answering questions in a discussion board with a couple of other peers in a group. The essays are graded very slowly taking months which does not allow you to look at feedback to improve.
Honestly, I would recommend taking her course. The whole semester is focused on the theme of good and evil. The grade is based on three essays and many discussion boards, which they are really easy to do. She is a very tough grader when it comes to essays, but she gives plenty of feedback. You will need to buy two textbooks for this course.
I took her online during the pandemic and we had no classes so it made it hard to know what she expected on the essays. There a lots of discussions which are easy to get good grades on. The essays are graded a little tough but had no trouble getting a good grade. I think the class would be a lot better in person, so I definitely recommend her.
Took RWS105B with Tempelton, very easy course, basically get graded on 3 papers, along with some smaller assignments like discussion posts, gives good feedback, and if you follow directions, you'll ace her course.
Prof. Tempelton is super nice and her class is really easy. You have to do 3 essays throughout the course of one semester and you are given about 2-3 weeks to complete them. She doesnt give homework and is super laid back. You have to try to not pass this class.
Professor Tempelton is probably one of the best english teachers I've ever had. Even though you need to attend for credit, being there is the best thing you could do to write your essays. The class discussions you have in class are literally your elaborations for specific examples she states. Her conferences are so helpful too to guide you.
Professor Tempelton is very nice however, your grade is based on 3 essays and class participation. She does not put any grades in on canvas so it's your best guess what your grade is. She is a hard grader on essays. She is helpful during office hours but her essay prompts are weird and I found them hard to write about. Go to class for particpation.
Professor Templeton is a nice teacher, but grades very tough. Your grade is pretty much three essays, some reading quizzes, and attendance. She doesn't tell you what your grade is and expects you to calculate it yourself. Overall, I would pick a different teacher next time especially because the class is a gen ed.
Professor Templeton is super nice. Her class is pretty straight forward and easy. You have 3 essays and some small quizzes that you are graded on. What's really nice is she essentially walks you through exactly what and how to write each essays. Overall, if you pay attention and don't procrastinate too bad, you'll do great.
One of my favorite professors. She helps guide you on all of the essays (there's only 3) and gives you feedback on essays before submitting. You have one "get out of jail free" opportunity where you can submit an essay late with no penalty. Highly recommend
I love her as a person she is super sweet and right there to help you if you have any questions. She grades pretty hard tho but does give you lots of feedback on what you did wrong.
Such a great professor and is super nice! She goes over the texts in depth during class which basically gives you what to write for your essays. Only 3 essays, this includes the final essay and these are really your only HW assignments. When you are in need of help she will give you all the information and guidance to be successful.
Professor Templeton is a nice and helpful teacher, but grades essays quite tough. The workload is manageable with 3 essays and some quizzes. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for prepping the essays.
The course grade mainly relies upon 3 essays. She sets up conference meetings for each essay so she can give feedback on how you're doing with your essay so there's days you won't have class because she's in meetings. She grades pretty tough on essays but gives really good feedback and is very caring towards her students. Would def recommend her.
Very tough grader. Attendance is mandatory, but her handwriting on the board is hard to read, making it challenging to follow along. The essay topics are complex and difficult to excel in, making an A+ feel unattainable. The class comprises three essays, three peer reviews, and attendance. Grading feels too harsh for a General Education course.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this class. It's boring and feels like a drag all semester. There's no final exam, just three big essays that make up your grade. The professor grades late, so you don't get feedback in time. She's not helpful—emails and office hours give no clear answers, and you're left to figure things out alone.
