Third Planet covers a very broad scope. Prof. Jordan uses powerpoints to teach all the material. Overall the tests are hard due to the high volume of material, not the difficulty of the questions. She's not a bad teacher. Lots of extra credit opportunity on the exams. Lenient grading on group projects.
Great professor. 3rd planet class is a bit boring but you will definitely learn something out of it. Does group quizzes and activities. Exams are fairly easy. She does give major extra credit opportunities on exam which are EXTREMELY helpful. Mostly used textbook to find info for the study guides. Drops lowest exam grade (excluding final)!
Offers extra credit and curves all of her test. She also gives out a review for each one of her test.
Took her at Palo Alto. Study her power point notes thoroughly. Her tests are tough, it is definitely not easy. She's tricking when it comes to how she lays out her tests, they are different formats every time. She does like to use pictures and you must label BUT she doesn't tell you what pic it will be. Curves test, 1 paper and few homeworks
Janet was a fantastic professor! I had never taken a Geology course before and I feel like she made it very easy for me to learn. She likes to give out quizzes a lot. However, she always let's you know what to expect so her quizzes were never difficult. Not to mention, on occasion she would bring the entire class donuts! Take her for any Geo class!
I loved taking her class. She explains things in such a clear way and really makes you want to learn about the material rather than just memorizing it. You can tell she really cares about what she teaches. Plus, she makes it easy to do well on tests. Take her if you can!
Prof Janet Vote inspired us by providing interesting facts about subject matter, lots of PP slides helping u study & pass, extra credit built into exams, no tricks w/tests, very interactive allowing questions & very easy to get along & relate, yes PP lecture is long & drawn out but easy A if u pay attention & study.
She does give out quiet a bit of tests and quizzes but quizlet is your friend. If you watch her videos the tests and quizzes are easy. There is one group project that is pretty long (a few weeks) but she gives you a clear criteria guideline to follow which makes it easier. All in all take her if you can!
A lot of information to take in but she creates reviews for all the exams and is very clear about grading criteria. Great professor, would recommend.
Take this online! super easy A
Took this online but class is easy. Weekly quizzes and journal post but all can be found online and journal is the same question every week. Midterm and final are 200 questions but are taken from old quizzes. I took this to satisfy life and physical science and I def recommend her! Easy A!
Professor Vote does a great job of giving students plenty of video material to supplement the reading which makes digesting the information easier. Be sure to take good notes through OneNote or similar so you can reference back quicker. I didn't enjoy the group project aspect, but everyone hates group work.
Class was a requirement, but Prof. Vote made it enjoyable. You work at your own pace and can get an easy A if you do all of your work correctly. There is a group project that is also easy as long as you participate. Prof. Vote is accessible through email or office hours and has always been understanding and kind. Would recommend this online class!
Dr. Vote is amazing. she does give a lot of journals and quizzes, but they help with your grade. I'm taking her again next year based on my experience. Take any class with her.
I needed to take this to fulfill a core class, and it did not disappoint. Weekly journal entry, weekly quiz, and only 2 tests. Super easy class. Only thing I didn't like was the group project. Passed with an A.
Class was extremely easy and the tests were as well. Just review the slides from class and you'll pass easy. The group project was my only gripe. Attendance isn't mandatory so most students will skip making it difficult to get with your group. She's a great lecturer and learned so much her lectures alone.
Taking this as a science credit for non science majors. Highly recommend. This class is so easy. Journals, quizzes, 2 tests, and a group research project. Take this for sure.
easy science credit for non science majors. 2 test, quizzes and some journal entries. over all super easy class the only annoying part would be the group project since its an online class.
Professor Vote's class is not hard at all. However, she goes against what she says a lot. When you email her with your confusion, she very passively explains what she MEANT rather than what was said. Nothing crazy and you can definitely get by without having to speak with her. But if you do, regardless of how you approach the situation, she's rude.
Semi mismanaged but a solid choice.
Worst part was the cost of the software we used, but professor is pretty cool! Helps you when you need it, extends due dates, understands technical errors
The class is okay. She's nice. Make sure to work hard.
At first the class was really easy but then her assignments increased with difficulty. Even the whole class thought she had increased the difficulty (some people simply failed the weekly assignments or didnt do them) if you have a good background on geology/listen to her lectures youll pass Her tests are really long too 100 questions but are easy
Tests are long, 75-100 questions but the content is never foreign to you. She lets you use notes on the tests that are pretty lengthy, do them and you'll do good. quiz every week on the video lectures
This is by far the easiest class I have taken. Some of the investigations are a little tricky later in the semester, but they aren't impossible. Everything is due on Sunday's and she is pretty good about communication.
Not a lot of homework, but there are a lot of notes to take from the lectures. Very nice professor who cares about her students.
Very very kind woman. Very easy class. Just watch lectures, do homework and do quizzes. Tests are pretty easy. She is a really nice professor and cares for her students. She also gives A LOT of extra credit, but if you do your work you won't need it.
In Prof. Vote's class, the only long part was the extra credit based upon the notes but well worth it. Taking the notes based off the lecture videos prepared you for the exams and quizzes. She is super accessible outside of class and makes her modules super interesting with the websites and extra videos she provides. 10/10.
Very sweet and caring of her students. The class is very easy and if there is a difficult investigation she does a zoom for it, which is also recorded.
Professor Vote is awesome! Shes very organized with the modules and always available to answer questions. The extra credit notes are worth it because they help with memorization and test prep. Overall, the class itself was easy and you can tell Professor Vote cares about her students.
The course itself is well organized & the assignments arent bad. there are quizlets for quizzes and exams or u can make ur own notes on google docs & search thru that for quizzes/exams. a couple investigations are tricky/too much work, but 2 lowest grades are dropped, & she is ready to help if you do want to do it. extra credit isnt necessary. ez A
Not a tough class since its all online and no zoom meetings but she does give out a lot of work and quizzes weekly. A lot of extra credit that you can do but you only get a 1/2 point for filling out 15+ pages of questions which you are forced to handwrite the answers to.
Professor Vote was so sweet. Her class is very straightforward. Weekly vocab and quizzes, plus 3 exams total. Just watch the lectures, do the skeletal notes and there is no reason why you shouldn't pass the class. Show up to class because there are in-class assignments that do count. If you can take her, DO IT!
Very straightforward class, you watch a weekly lecture, take notes, then take a quiz that is due at the end of the week. Going to class was also very simple as well, we'd either watch a video and take notes or do some group work that was due before leaving. Overall this was a very good class, I highly recommend it
She provides very clear and concise video lectures which are followed by an investigation (often related to the topic but done through reading material on a website) then wrapped up by a 20 question quiz. If there's ever a question you have, chances are it's addressed in the video.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Vote this semester, she's very helpful when needed, and is really caring about her students.
This class was the best class I had this semester, EASY A! She is very understanding, and responds to emails very fast. Her class is very easy, one investigation and one quiz a week, then an exam after a couple of modules ( 4 EXAMS TOTAL). As I said, if all my professors were like this, I would be in college for life. <3
Mrs. Vote is an excellent professor who cares about the success of her students. Always quick to reply to emails and very helpful. Highly recommend Mrs. Vote.
offers extra credit for every quiz and exam. 3 assignments a week if you include the extra credit one. good class easy A.
Very easy weekly homework that consisted of weekly quizzes and simple worksheets. I highly recommend this course & Professor Vote if you're seeking an easy science course for credits. You can submit your weekly video notes for extra credit on the tests (about 4 if I remember correctly). She drops your 3 lowest grades!
This is a pretty easy and straightforward class. As long as you pay attention it's not hard.
Took this class for a science credit. The class itself is boring because it is literally about rocks. Professor Vote, though, is kind and responds to emails quickly. The class is graded on group assignments, individual assignments, and tests. The lectures are on the shorter side, but there is a LOT of information to keep track of. TAKE NOTES!
There are lots of lecture vids which were extremely detailed. Then the assignments are due very soon in between each other. The exams are too difficult unless you can remember all of the lecture material because the exams have fill in the blanks. All the exams are proctored and this course wont allow group me's for students to help each other out.
I would not take this professor again, theres a lot of mistakes in her lectures videos that are accounted for a grade, effects your grade. These mistakes continued to repeatedly be a problem that never got fixed. She assigns a ton of homework just for an elective class.
This was one of the easiest classes to take if you have a basic understanding of how to read. She gives her own skeletal notes if you're not the best note taker. She has a badge system that gives you the opportunity to not take the final exam if you basically just do your work and get above an A for the average of the assignments. Provides the book
Extremely easy class. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and you can skip the final if you get a 90+ on all assignments. Lectures are short, 20-30 minutes a week total. Theres a weekly quiz and assignment that are both easy. As long as you remember to do your work on time the class is a free GPA boost that takes no time out of your week.
This is not a blow-off class as other people have said. Prof. Vote requires you to put substantial time into her course. While the material is interesting, her grading scheme is annoying. You will find yourself losing points on very stupid things. There are a lot of little annoying things about her class.
This was an interesting class... Not really what I thought with the previous reviews but regardless this was the most average class I've ever taken. I feel like I've learned little to nothing and still managed an A for the class. Her lectures are boring and her grading is really weird. The only extra credit is so tiny its barely worth doing.
if you're good at taking notes and want an easy A take her class. a lot of people had a difficult time managing their time to do the work but you could easily knock out her assignments and quiz in one day if you make time for it, just pay attention to the lectures and you'll be good. i would 100% take her class again.
Pretty blan lectures but she spaces them out well. The problem is her assignment choice/grading of them. Be ready to learn how to spell ALL dinosaur and extinct fishes names because on homeworks and TESTS you have to spell the answers out and if you spell it wrong, you get it wrong! This course is extremely in depth but if you study hard easy A/B
Worst professor ever, I definitely do not recommend. Leaves a ton of work for a class that does not even matter, had more work for this class than my actual important classes. Professor is beyond boring, leaves unnecessary work, makes a lot of mistakes & ends up affecting our grade. Do not take this professor
Life Through Time CLASS: Take in-person!! You won't get much out of it if you take it online. Confusing assignments are occasional and all tests are now on proctorio. Good teacher though, the lab was so much fun!
Overall good professor. One quiz, notes, and worksheet every wk and exam every four wks. Two chances on quizzes. Extra credit notes are not worth the work. Easy worksheets. Need to study for quizzes and exams. I did not need to use textbook. Occasional simple math. Lectures are monotone and unorganized. Responds to emails. Not easy, not impossible.
Do exactly what you need to do in class and everything will fall into place. Online quizzes and test
Professor Vote may assign lots of work but it is completely manageable. Nothing difficult and could be completed within an hour or two. She is very accessible to her students and is also lenient. Class is online which makes it more manageable. Overall, great professor!
I took the online class and it was fairly easy. There is usually 3 lectures ranging from 10-25min and you had to answer questions as you went.(The average of what you get on those is the final) Also we had either a discussion or an investigation every week. Investigation can be confusing but she is always ready to help. I liked this class overall.
Awesome professor who always made it feel like she wanted the student to succeed. She was also by far one of the best communicators I have ever seen with constant updates and announcements. When there were issues, she worked quickly to solve them and it was very refreshing to have a teacher that you can tell really loves what she does. 1000/10.
How Professor Vote got good ratings on this website, I have no idea. Be prepared for up to be down and for left to be right. In her class, it doesn't matter if you got the right answer. You didn't format it to her specific qualifications! Learning the material doesn't matter, bad grammar does. Don't take this course. An A+ is a 97.5.
Structure of class is pretty clear. You have Skeletal Notes, Quiz, & Lecture Playlist due every week. Sometimes you have Case Studies (group discussion). Escape Rooms are at the end of every unit, which is just a lecture playlist. Exams are very easy as well.
A good class to do if you want to take a science that's easy. All you need is to pay attention to the lectures to do the work and pass. Her lectures are enjoyable in a way that's not droning. There's one project she gives us a lot of time for.
I've taken this professor once before for geo 1013 and I loved her, work is easy she is supper understanding and does grade all late work defiantly recommend her.
Such an interactive professor! Professor Vote is passionate about her job and is caring towards her students. The extra credit opportunities came in clutch at the end of the semester bumping my A up to an A+! This class requires you to be on top of things but it is genuinely easy and a blast to take.
I took GEO 1013 over the summer and it definitely made some of the work a bit more stuffed in there but this was a genuinely fun class and with a great professor leading it. She offers extra credit and the chance to be exempt from the final. Couldn't have asked for a cooler and nicer professor. If you can take this class do it with Vote :D
Professor Vote is an amazing professor, the lectures are very interesting just be prepared to write fast but she does post the slides afterward. Very nice and easy to talk to. She does not take attendance but I would go to lectures if you want a good grade. I would take her again.
Super easy class! The professor is super nice as well! There are two assignments each week and a test every few units. Extremely easy and you don't have to worry about this class.
Super easy class. There are weekly readings and there are only 1 or 2 questions each week regarding the readings. Lectures are broken into 10-15min. Super easy like I said, lecture-quiz-lecture-quiz-lectures-quiz-exam. There are some extra credit opportunities not much, just keep a look out, it's usually around midterm times.
Professor Vote is an absolute ANGEL. I loved her all semester; she is amazing not only in her lectures but in grading as well. She goes back on assignments in Canvas (open end quiz questions) and will give you credit/review wrong answers. She is amazing and I will be taking her again for the spring! 100% recommend - if you can take her you should!
Professor Vote gives ample opportunity for extra credit as long as you put in the work. Her TA, Tom, is a little fickle with his grading so it can sometimes get frustrating, but the professor is reasonable and accessible outside of class. Easy enough class as long as you put in the work. The textbook is provided so there is no need to purchase.
Professor Vote was a cool professor, and her class was super easy. Attending lectures and taking notes helps because that material will actually be on the test. Every Monday we have a chapter quiz, investigation assignment, and notes (points given towards exam grade), and nothing else is assigned for the rest of the week.
She is an excellent professor, super caring, and is so understanding!!!
One of the best professor at this University. I learned a lot this semester on the Third Planet! Great professor. I recommend Ms.Janet Vote.
Lectures were boring & disorganized. I love geology yet she managed to make me fall asleep while she read off the slideshows. Explanations were surface level and she'd even read off of a slide that wasn't showing on the screen. Textbook was free but reading it was useless. Assignments were easy & extra credit was available but overall not worth it.
I am not gonna write Professor Vote a bad review, she was not a horrible professor. Her class over North American National Parks is very, very easy. You should get nothing less than a B if you at least give a little effort. Despite a bit of confusion in assignments and boring lectures, it was a mediocre but stress-free class I will say the least.
Super nice professor, easy to get in touch with. It's online class but super easy. Not a lot of effort required to do well. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Honestly pretty interesting class, not that much work each week, extra credit notes, watch the lectures, take a quiz, then an exam every few weeks. Super manageable would take again.
prof. vote is so sweet and clearly passionate about the subject. assignments look very similar week to week so its easy to manage and plan for. final is a group project (partners are chosen) that is easy to get a good grade on if you put the effort in. I would 100% recommend this class to anyone!
Be ready to read. The online class included many posts/comment assignments on other students' work and two to three simple projects.
To say this class is boring would be an understatement. Not to mention how utterly time consuming it is. It is literally just repetitive fill in the blank notes which take hours upon hours to painstakingly write. Loads of the most stupid busy work, all while watching COVID era lectures from three years ago and not being allowed to work ahead.
1/10. Taken online, cannot work ahead. The schedule in the syllabus does not align with the actual due dates. Her canvas is unorganized, and navigating her outline gives her a difficulty of 4/5. Discussions are limited to five-person groups. Her lectures are slow, dry, and boring. The class is busywork. Avoid this person.
I absolutely HATE the way this professor structured her class. The syllabus is confusing and hard to follow. She gives out so many assignments. Lots of note taking! It feels like I'm a high school freshman again. Try to avoid her. This class is driving me crazy to say the least. I am usually interested in sciences but she made me hate this one!
I was really disappointed with this class and how she thought to teach it. Some modules said "Fall 2022" so its obvious this is just a blow off class for her. A complete online class yet there was a group project! ugh I did not enjoy that. The national parks were briefly mentioned at the beginning of the lectures, so it really isn't about them.
professor vote was one of the worst professors i had. you get a timed quiz, notes that take HOURS to fill out, lecture videos, and either an investigation assignment, an escape room or a group discussion. you also get 3 exams with 75 questions with 1.5 hours and a final with 125 questions with 2.5 hours. this class was ridiculous. good luck !
Simple class if you just follow the weekly assignments, Weekly quizzes and one investigation or discussion post. offers extra credit that helps your final grade. 4 total exams including the final and she drops the lowest exam grade and quiz at the end of the course. would take again, she's easy to contact when you have questions.
My recommendation to you for this class is do not do the extra credit work. They take forever to do (especially the skeletal notes) and at the end of the semester it only added 3 points to my final grade. so if you don't care about 3 extra points and you are already doing well in the class don't do the extra credit, its a waste of time.
The nicest professor. Fun easy class if you do your work.
I took her for Life through Time, and she was always good at answering questions and responding fast. Took the class online and just be sure to study, take lots of notes, and do NOT procrastinate. There are 4 honorlock exams (1 cumulative), extra credit options, then the regular assignments. You can use paper notes on exam so take a lot of those!
One of the worst classes I've taken. Very notes heavy with 4-5 assignments due every week. Could not get any extension for any of the work. Exams are honorlock with the final being cumulative. Overall class was very boring especially the lectures. Do not take this class if its just for the credit.
I do NOT reccomend this professor at all especially if it is online! It was genuinely so much work and the investigation and case study assignments were the biggest pain. Lectures are non-engaging and it is too time consuming of a freshman course online, this is definitely a class to take in person if you want to learn and not lose your mind.
Excellent Professor, would definitely recommend! Lectures are clear and straightforward and align with the skeletal notes she provides. Tests and quizzes are easy to get a good grade on if you take notes. She is responsive to emails and provides the opportunity for extra credit.
love this professor. she is very sweet and will help you out a lot. she will accept late work if you email her and she responds quick. her class was pretty easy. but the submission of the assignments were at a random time, Monday at 7pm which is the only thing i didn't like. overall she was a caring professor, would recommend her class.
Most responsive professor I have ever had. So helpful. 10/10 Highly reccomend.
10/10. Sometimes a little heavy on the workload but shes amazing. Works with students and is very accessible. Highly reccomend.
I loved everything about this professor and the class! Super easy to contact outside of class, the workload was manageable and quite easy, and the whole class was overall nice!
Bro what is this class multiple assignments with 50 questions a week. Like bro.... easy tho
Exams are honorlocked but I took them on my laptop & for some reason wasn't yk making me do the whole id & room check stuff. You can take on your phone if you want as I did it 1x. Just watch the lectures in 2x answer the questions do the skeletal notes quiz & escape rooms. She's a great professor.
I love her class. It's very easy and she gives enough extra credit to help with your grade. The skeletal notes and exams are A LOT of questions but it's not so bad because you can have your notes out to help you review. She's very helpful and understanding and gives enough time for due dates.
