Used 2 diff editions of the same book, which caused confusion. 10 page paper req'd with a 5 minute presentation. Inconsistent grading. She corrected a direct quote. Multiply 5 min. by 50+ students and you spend a great deal of time from the middle of the semester listening to other students. Buy the REVIEW book, you'll do well on the tests.
Nice lady but test are HARD & LONG!!! She gives great curves because everyone fails the test.
Lectureed out of 2 editions of the same book. 8 week summer class had a 10 page research paper! Tests were LONG and included "short answer" questions which required almost memorization of the chapters (i.e. if you understand the concepts but don't give the answer that corresponds to the section of the book it's wrong). I would not take her again.
She was using the old edition of the book and not until it was brought to her attention did she give the class the page numbers so that we could keep up w/ her. Tests were ridiculous and everything was subjectively graded. Do not have an opinion that is not like hers or she will give you hell!!!

You can never get an answer right in the class since only her opinion counts. There is a 10 page research paper for this class which and she grades it very harsh. I would not take her again for any class. We had to sit and listen to oral reports from every student in the class which was repeated information and boring! Tests are very long.
For a management professor she sure doesn't know how to manage a class. She allows students to go off on tangents that are completely irrelevant to the subject matter. She also doesn't budget her class time well before classes. For example, before one test she covered 3.5 chapters in 40 minutes and refused to push the test back. Also have the manda
Horrible teacher! Gives a 10 page paper and a presentation due and does not give grades before drop date. Grades hard on tests and will not accept anything other then what she thinks is right even if the book says something different. I will never take her again
DO NOT TAKE HER! We had to write a paper and do a presentation. Be prepared to get an F on the paper if it is not exactly like how she wants it. She does not grade fair. If its not in the exact words she wants then you are not going to get credit. She comes to class late everyday. I wouldnt recommend her to anyone!!
Horrible teacher! Presentationa and 10 page paper. Does not teach just talks about her real world experience even though its 15 years out of date. This teacher does not grade fair and is very subjective. DONT TAKE HER!!! SHE SHOULD BE FIRED!
she is nice lady, 10 pg research paper i gt B+ on that easy to get A+ in oral report. bt tests are little hard coz 4 short answrs like essay u hv to memorize it. Good side of her gives high curves!bt final was way hard around 125 questions with 8 essay type ques. it took me almost 2hrs to giv final.i think i will get a "B+" or A-!!
guys m "A" student and i was supposed to get an A in this subject. In all 3 exams i got an A but don knw why she gave me "B"??she is crazy, final was abt 125 ques,so tough, i really studied hard bt she disappoint me!!Avoid this prof!!
Tests are long, 35 or so multiple choice, 35 T/F abuncha matching and short essays. The key toshort essays is to look in the chapters for a Main topic then memorize the titles of the subtopics. such as, Employee benefits, then the book goes through with a paragraph for each different one. Paper sucks I got an F+ on it but still got a B for the clas
Not that bad of a teacher. I received a B in it. You just sit in class while she rambles. Most of the class is listening to presentations. (Bring a laptop to surf web to kill boredom) Study for test - she basically goes over the important things in class. Need about 2 or 1 whole day for studying - studying terms is important! 10 page paper sucks th
Very disorganized and distracting lecturer. Constantly makes clucking noise and skips around topics. I've never seen more subjective grading. Tests are ridiculous and she will not admit when she is wrong. STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSTRUCTOR!!!! You won't learn enough to make it worth the difficulty, frustration, and hassle.
Do Not Take! Extremely difficult teacher. 10 pg paper w/ 5 min oral report. Tests are 40 t/f and multiple choice w/ 4 short answers q's. She bleeds red on all short question answers. Very subjective grading.
If this university is serious about becoming Tier1, it needs to fire this prof. immediately!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! This was the worst class I have ever taken. She does not give any study guides or doesn't even review for the test. The tests are made up of vocab words and like 5 chapters per test except final which has 7. She also had 4-6 short answer questions in there which if you don't give enough detail she won't give any points.
Awful professor teaching style is very outdated and so are the videos she makes you watch. Her grading is very one-sided it is her way or it's wrong. She says she gives partial credit but she does not. Even when it's obvious you grasp the concept if it's not in a wording that she likes, which btw she never explains, it is wrong no matter how hard you try to argue other wise. I would rather be water boarded then take another class of hers.
do not sign up for her classes. she grades very hard, gives no test reviews, gives way too many SAs of quizzes, her lectures are very very boring. HR is not a hard course, but under this professor it is difficult. this university really needs to consider all these ratings. after all students are the customers paying for an education.
This is the worse prof I've EVER had! Grades are bias. Exams are long & tedious. Boring lecture. Avoid her at all cost! Took her for grad class, but teaches as if we we're 1st yr in undergrad. Doesn't follow what is written on her own syllabus! Give you attitude & mocks you if you ask for why she gave you low grade. HORRIBLE PERSON!!
Not easy, but very fair. Just be prepared to read, and you'll be fine. Will answer your questions, and is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. Don't expect any favors, just plan to work the grade. Don't be a weenie.
if you want to work all semester, take this professor. "good morning future business leaders" , is how she greets you. Tests are long. Short answer, true/false, multiple choice and matching. Short answer is from random sections in the book in which you should know off the top of your head. I got a high b, but i worked
I am not a "Future Business Leader of America" by any means, but I do enjoy the class. She knows the material very well. She could write her own textbook! The tests are not difficult if you study! There have been a few times that the class argued the grading on the tests, and she gave us credit. She is a great professor, in my opinion.
Good, fair teacher. She gives 2 points extra credit to those who attend every single class. 1 point to those who miss a day. I found the class easy as it came second-nature to me. I didn't open the book but once. Tests are simple: multiple choice, T/F, Short Essay Questions, and Matching. I highly recommend Baldwin :)
The worst professor at UTA's business school. Avoid at all costs. Lectures are pointless and have nothing to do with the test. She cries randomly, and no one knows why. Her essay questions are ridiculously hard, and don't even try discussing it with her. If she asks you to explain something and you give the definition, it's going to be wrong.
I don't know why people are so hard on Dr. Baldwin. I took her wintermester course and didn't see what the big deal is. I suspect those who complain are lazy and want to be handed an A without an effort. She loves her job and is very knowledgeable. Short answer questions are a little tough.
Must say she is a smart lady... Very knowledgeable.. Her exams are preety long so try to manage time on exams... No presentations just 4 exams and a final... Very helpful...
I really enjoyed attending Dr. Baldwin's class. Her exams tested your knowledge in the course. She is very knowledgeable and "real world" experience compliments her lectures. Very nice professor who cares about her students.
If you want a challenge this is the professor for you...you must take great notes. Took her this Summer session. Every chapter was covered. Our Final Exam worth 35 points had almost 200 questions
Dr. Baldwin was not easy, but I thought she was a really good lecturer. She has experience and knows what she is talking about. Her tests were long, especially for a 50 min class, but you start figuring out how to study for them. She curves, but tells us not to expect it all the time. This is not a blow off class, but I enjoyed it as an HR student.
Dr. Baldwin gets a bad rap on a lot of these reviews. I assume mostly from students who were looking for an easy A. Her exams are thorough, but come straight from her lecture. She is very knowledgable in the course matter and has a lot of real world experience. Pay attention in class and take notes and you will be fine.
Dr. Baldwin is a very intelligent and excellent professor. If you attend class she'll add 2 points to your average. No projects just read the chapters and listen to the lectures and you should make an A. There's no homework. Just be reading text alone you should make at least a B.
Make sure you read/take your own notes & you should make an A. 2 extra points if you don't miss a single day, but I missed alot of class (but read the text)& still made an A. No homework. 4 exams including the final. The final is NOT comprehensive. She grades very hard on the short answers but ended up curving each test.
This class is pretty damn hard. Her tests are the longest I have ever taken in my life, final was 170+ questions alone... Her short essays are impossible to guess because there is no study guide so basically memorize 3-4 chapters exactly or you're screwed. Lectures are incredibly boring so unless you like reading textbooks and memorizing good luck
OMG she is so hard! She takes attendance daily. Her tests are essay and consist of questions like "Out of the 7 examples in the book, list 5 and explain them." You have to know the material cover to cover. She doesn't respond to emails even if she tells you to email her. She isn't helpful at all. Find another teacher!!!
This class is way to hard for what it is. Teacher provides absolutely no supplemental material( power points, hand out etc.) and her tests are HARD! 3 to 5 essay questions and multiple choice. She does curve the tests ( make sure you study on line material and chapter information at back of the book. She will not tell you about the material on line
Very informative. Read the book, take good notes, and use the online study guides and you should get an A.
A lot of lecture. Take good notes, she is very easy to take good notes from. Tests are a mix of multiple choice, T/F and short answers. I used my book to help elaborate on my note to study for exams. Used the recommended website exams and vocab as well. You have to be there to get the information.
I managed to make a "D" on three of my tests. Her tests were so difficult that she had to give a curve on each test. I studied for hours and still couldnt make a "C" If you take this class attend every session and study harder.
"Good morning Future Business Leaders of America!" You will hear that everyday. She takes attendance each class. Her tests are all book based; You must read the chapters. Exams are very thorough, M/C and short answers. Curves a bit. She has tons of experience and can relate to anything. I would recommend her but you must work for your grade.
Janice Baldwin is a very strict and conservative professor. She does know her stuff but does not know have a clear understanding of how to preach it. Treats the class like 3rd graders which is quite annoying.
Do not take her for an intercession class. I spent 3-5 hours a day studying and could barely pull a B. Short answer questions are very difficult. She doesn't have a full grasp on some of the topics which was damaging to students grades. Pretty much memorize the book and everything she states. Understanding of concepts is undervalued for this course
Do not take!!! Exams are super hard, she grades the short response questions extremely detailed. Most boring class ever. She thinks she knows it all, and claimed she had the most "real world" experienced than any other professor in the COBA.I don't know how I managed a B
Her only grades for this class is the tests, and her tests are extremely difficult. Multiple choice, t/f, matching, and 3-5 short answer questions. She is very picky when she grades. You must read the book or be doomed to an F. I took notes like crazy, read the book, and studied for days before each test. I failed with the majority of the class..
Tests are very difficult and no review! You are responsible for everything covered in lecture and the textbook. If the text says something different, go with what she said in class. Not easily swayed, extremely knowledgeable, very exact!
It's a hard class and the tests are tough.BUT if you study your terms (pay attention to wording on T/F) and main topics in the reading you will be fine. She is very helpful and knowledgable and will help you if you go to her. She may come across as condescending but she's not. Has her own personality! I'm taking her again in the fall for MANA 3320
please please DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. As you see below other comments, exam is VERY VERY HARD and her lecture is NOT helpful to prepare for every exam. she just take it off points on short answer. exam makes up short answer, true/false and multiple choice. even not so enough time to complete answer. just don't take this class. hard to pass.
Class attendance is not mandatory but must have perfect attendance to get an extra 2 points added to your overall grade at the end of semester. It you are looking for an easy A, this class is not for you.
Professor Baldwin is very passionate and knowledgeable which certainly helps with dull material the course consist of. Test are somewhat challenging but as long as you memorize the vocabulary words and search for POSSIBLE short answer questions in chapters then you will do awesome. Also she gives 2pts on final average for perfect attendance
Dr. Baldwin is extremely helpful and sincere. Exams are tough and are the only grades for the class. Definitely not an easy A class like most people expect but gives two points to your semester average if you attend class. Always greets students "Good morning, Future Business Leaders of America!" Lectures can be interesting, sometimes long
Dr Baldwin is a horrible teacher. I corrected her on something once and she reflected that in my grade. Don't take her! Horrible teacher and person!
If you're not used to intense studying, then don't take her. She is highly knowledgeable in her field and you will learn a lot.
Dr. Baldwin was a very good teacher. She was very prepared and put a lot of effort into her lesson plans. To make a good grade in her class all you need to do is read the material and show up to class. I would take another class from her.
Omg!!!! The most strict teacher I ever had!! Her tests are very very hard amd yu dont habe enough times to finish the test because there are too many questioms. I spend week study for her tests but each times I got an C .I dont even know why I took that teacher. Dont take her!!!!!!!
Very nice lady, a lot of experience. YOU MUST USE BOOK. Her tests are extremely detailed, so MASTER EACH CHAPTER. There is no denying it, her tests are HARD, Some M/C, Short answer and Essay. But if you go to class, and REALLY learn the book chapters you should do fine. I recommend Notecards for all the vocab.
Very very HARD tests , believe me !!!!. I got a C by studying like crazy. I read book, i took notes , i attended every classes, i NEVER missed 1 class but still managed to get a C. I'd never recommend her even for my worst enemy. She's a cool person , you can even go see her in her office and talk like best friend but she is very strick with grades
This Class was extremely difficult. The tests are multiple choice/True and false/and 2 or 3 short respond answers. if you leave ANY white space on your paper she will mark all over it with red ink. You MUST memorize all vocab and MUST familiarize with text to get close to full credit on the short response. Very hard class.
Very demanding and A's are hard to get, but she's very knowledgable, you will learn a lot, she's fun. She always greets us by "Hello Future Business Leaders!". Tests are long, tricky, and are much more demanding than most other professors. If you want to learn, try your best, and have sense of achievement, this is your professor.
She is SO BAD. Avoid her. There are a bunch of other better professors of management. Her tests are VERY TOUGH. I bet you can every hard to pass this class. She is SO MEAN and her lecture sucks.
Dr. Baldwin's a PhD, MBA & practicing lawyer, brings a lot to the table and speaks from real world experience. Doesn't solely lecture from the text, but reading the text is an absolute must. The exams (only grades in the class) are challenging, but you will do fine if you are very familiar with the content. She is an entertaining, great professor.
Take her!!! Her lectures are very interesting, she's crazy intelligent & her stories are great. She teaches with such charisma & it's enjoyable to be in class. Her only grades are exams, which are VERY detailed & tricky. She gives extra credit for perfect attendance. I'm taking her again this semester. She's tough, but good!
Do not think that you can take this class and it will be easy. You definitely have to work for your grade. But, she gives very detailed lectures and that info will be on the test. You do need to read to reinforce what you learn. I left her class feeling I earned my grade and learned useful information. She is very passionate about what she teaches.
This class was made so difficult by Dr. Baldwin. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult. I attended class, took notes, read the book and still made a C. Would never take her again and advise others not to take her!
I have taken two classes with Baldwin, her real-world experience with Forbes top ten companies is incredible. She knows what she is talking about and you can tell. Do not take her if you are lazy, you will not pass. You have to show up, take good notes, she does not put her slides on blackboard. Absolutely need the book.
Teacher was awesome. Very motivated and cares deeply about the subject matter. Has real world experience. Tests are slightly difficult. Essay questions are graded harshly. If you pay attention, take good notes, and do light reading, you'll be fine.
Show up to class, take detailed notes, & you should be able to pass. Sh does not use blackboard and does not post powerpoints. She has 5 tests; 20MC, 30T/F, and 2-3 short answer. You can guess the short answers. Her expectations are clear cut and I liked that. She takes attendance & if you are there 100% you get 2% added to your over all grade.
Loved the class. Just read the textbook and take good lecture notes. Tests are actually challenging, but doable. She is an awesome teacher.
Very difficult class, but if you show up, pay attention to the lectures, take good notes, and read the book. You will pass. Tests are very hard. Lectures are entertaining. Taking her again.
Never done one of these because I've never disliked a professor enough to use my time warning others not to take her but for the love of all that is Holy DON'T DO IT! Her class is tough but that's not the problem - it's her attitude. Treats others with disrespect, doesn't hear out others opinions, I have a lack of self confidence in class bc of her
Great lecturer! Very knowledgeable and has awesome experience. Gives great examples. Gives 4 tests. No assignments/quizzes. 2 points added to overall grade for perfect attendance. Tests are hard! Includes multiple choice, T/F, and short answer. Short answers are toughly graded. My secret to getting an 'A': record lectures.
Dr. Baldwin doesn't use blackboard for anything. Tests are thorough but she does break them down. Attendance is counted and helpful. Lectures off Power point slides.
Wow, where do I begin. Dr. Baldwin is a very good professor, however the class was made much harder than it should have been to me. Start studying the lectures from day 1 especially the vocab words. Got a C after bombing on the 1st test. This isn't a easy A like most of my classes. GPA did drop however but I'm a better student for it. GL
She is not easy, but she has great experience.
Her lectures are very interesting and informative, it will also contain info that will be on the test. She is very animated and makes class very fun, you will not get bored. Her tests are tough, it helps to attend class and to read. I suggest making note cards for the vocabulary since it is a big part of the test. Great person and awesome teacher!
She loves to talk a lot about herself. She asks questions in the class, and even if you tell her an answer straight from the book, she will turn you down. Study the vocab, but also write HER definition because she expects that on the tests. Test are T/F, Multiple Choice, Matching AND Short Answer. NO reviews. Record her lecture to add to your notes
First things first, if you want an easy grade, this is NOT the class for you. I only like her and the class because I actually pay attention and study and get the grades I deserve. As a person, she's really blunt and treats you like a child at times. Her tests are just like her lectures so pay attention, study the vocab, and you'll be fine.
She lectures, gives definitions and you study. Also she gave curves on test depending on the class average. You do have to be focused but that's expected....I got an A!
attendance is required but it 100% pointless. the test will be 100% out of the textbook and off of powerpoints, the test are hard af for no reason.
She is a good professor, but she likes to talk about herself a lot (it gets annoying). She was usually at least 10 minutes late to class everyday, and she made us study for 6 chapters in 3 days over the summer. SO DON'T TAKE HER FOR THE SUMMER! If you take her during the regular semester, you will probably do fine if you read the book.
She has 4 exams all weigh differently. She grades very hard. I never seen so many red marks on a single exam in my life. She grades hard she wants you to know definitions from the book verbatim. This goes for all of her management classes as well. I took her for 2 classes. Also, she has a hard time answering real world questions about material.
Avoid taking her at all costs. The tests are hard for no reason, the material discussed in the lectures is not even complicated, she just decides to make it difficult for the students. If you decide to take her memorize all the terms for each chapter assigned for the exam, and read the chapters. Also goes off topic a lot, grading makes no sense.
She post the percentages on board after every Exam, normally between 9 and 14% of the class makes an A on exams. 50multiplechoice, ten matching, and 3 open ended questions that have to be completed in 50minutes or less (shes about 5minutes late on average). I learned a lot in this class, and had to work hard for my grade.
Still don't understand why her exams are so long. Doesnt review at all. Exams are like 60 mc, 15 matching, 20 tf AND about 3 short answers... some people have made 100s and As thanks to her curve. Book is absolutely necessary for the lecture, she doesn't post ppts online so make sure to take really good notes. Nice lady I guess, not an easy A!!!!
not an easy A but she is a great instructor & very intelligent. she herself has a multitude of degrees under her belt & lots of work experience. Must be very precise to what she wants though on test! I'm a slacker but I'm doing fine in this course. go to class everyday for extra credit. the short answers are tough but the rest is easy.
Great instructor I recommend her if you're looking to actually learn some interesting things. talks about her life experience which I actually enjoy. I stopped going to class to study for other classes but just read the text book to keep up because she will go through the entire thing through the semester. its a lot but if you buckle down its okay
Ms. Baldwin is a very genuine person. She believes in her students. Her classes aren't easy but I definitely learned some valuable lessons in her class. Educated person with tons of credentials.
DON'T TAKE HER, SHE GETS OFF TOPIC EASILY ALWAYS TELLING NONSENSE STORIES. HER TEST ARE SUPER HARD. SHE DOESN'T PUT ANY NOTES ON BLACKBOARD SO BE READY TO READ THE BOOK.
This lady is horrible. I very much dislike professors that are "power point lecturers" I don't need you to read the slides for me, I would hope that I know how to read by now. If the slides were posted on blackboard there would be no reason for you to go to class. I've never heard a professor brag about how many degrees he/she has. Horrible.
Her test is 3 short answers, 70 MC, 20 matching questions. Final covers 6 chapters which has 7 short ans, lots of MC and matching. Never posted ppt slides. Kinda disrespectful if you asked to see the slides she passed. sarcastic and bad attitude when talking. NOT RECOMMENDED. she makes the class harder than the course. I felt regret bc choosing her
Dr. Baldwin is an excellent professor with lots of real world experience. You will learn a lot after the course. However, be aware that this class will require a lot of work. If you are looking for an easy A, take someone else.
This class was not an easy A but it's possible. The grade was based on 3 tests (4 ch. each) and a final exam (6 ch). The tests are MC, T/F (which I don't like) and SA (usually 1 per chapter 20% of grade ) and she does curve them. Make 2 study guides per chapter, one for just definitions and one over the content and you'll do fine.
Dr. Baldwin is amazing! Her tests were slightly challenging but doable if you study ahead of time. I loved that she provided many real world examples that relate to the material. She has so much experience so she knows what she is talking about. Take good notes in class and read the book thoroughly because there are a lot of theories and vocab.
If you have other options you need to RUN from this crazy & outdated Prof. She says she'll work with you during family emergencies, but when I had my child during her class she wouldn't respond to my emails, she didn't post grades in time for me to drop, she didn't post any of the notes for me while I was in the hospital. WORST EVER!! RUN!!!
Worst teacher test are hard and most dont have time to finish. when i was bubbling in my scantron she yelled time is up without mentioning how much time we had left so she took my scantron and gave me a zero cause she won't let me put my name on it.
WORST OLD TEACHER I HAVE HAD IN MY 5 YEARS OF COLLEGE! Her tests are 100 questions long; 30 multiple choice, 3 short answer, 30 matching, 30 T/F. Never have I ever had to take such a long test. AND she doesn't let you know how much time you have left. ALSO, barely gives any credit on the short answer, she expects an essay for each pretty much.
Dr. Baldwin is an absolutely inspirational, passionate, and knowledgeable professor. She's loaded with experience and practical career advice. I see that other reviewers complain about her tough grading--and I don't disagree. Her exams are difficult and they consist of short answer, etc. However, if you read the book, you'll be golden. Take her!!
Curved every single exam. Tough exams but can easily get an A if you read the book. Her lectures are interesting too, and she is passionate about what she does. Those who are leaving poor reviews are probably too lazy to read the book and write easy short answer questions on the test. Definitely recommend.
unfortunately for me, I have taken her before and I have NO idea why I took her again, biggest mistake of my life. But anyways. I don't really recommend her at all, her test are super heavy that requires A LOT of time, her short answer questions are ridiculous, make sure you legit explain them well or else you will be losing points!
4 tests worth 25% each. Best way to do well in the class is to read the textbook! She was almost always late to lecture and likes to argues with students. Always has to be right and likes to shut students down. Tests are extremely long and hard: T/F, multiple choice, and 3-7 short answers that are VERY specific. Have to study a lot to get an A.
If you dont want to put in work to make an A-B avg grade then dont take this professor. She takes this class way to serious for it to be a lower-level class. She gives 4 tests which are EXTENSIVE. There are roughly 20 T/F, 20 matching, 64 MC, and between 4-6 SA questions. There are no outside HW assignments. She is very conceited.
The content was easy to grasp but her exams are very extensive! As long as you really study the notes, you can easily pass but maybe not an A, there is so much on the exam that I had gotten confused. She has around 80 questions each exam. yes, EACH. All possible ways to give a question, Mulitple Choice, T/F, definitions.
Mrs. Baldwin is a great professor. Her lectures are very interesting. However, her exams are crazy long. Tests consists of free response, multiple choice, true or false and matching. The good thing is that over half of her tests are over vocabulary. Know all vocab and you'll pass. Goodluck with the free response questions...
Lectures: Great. She knows her stuff. Tests: Hard. You have to read and take notes. Review test: No. Tip: Learn all the vocabulary words If you have a different choice, take that instead. She's hard.
What should have been an easy class was TOUGH! Tests are LONG and consist of T/F, multiple choice, matching and short answer. 4 tests, no homework, takes attendance but doesn't count against you (if you're there every class she'll add 2 points to your final grade) Don't HAVE to have the book, but it definitely helps - STUDY BOLD WORDS
The bad reviews about her are spot on. Her tests are 70 M/C and T/F and 4 short answers and you do not have enough time to do them. Her lectures are useless, she does not share the powerpoint so you have to quickly copy them down. Do yourself a favor and not take her.
