It's true that she makes mistakes in her notes and doesn't realize it until a student points it out to her, but she's really approachable and willing to help if you see her after class.

Prof. Compton did a great job of explaining the material. She was incredibly helpful and willing to spend time with students.

Prof. Compton is AWESOME. She is willing to help anytime. She explains clearly and makes sure that everyone understands the topics. She is very friendly and nice.

If you want to do well, she'll give u a chance to do so. She gives lots of bonus marks! You can partially predict what will be on the exam because she gives you tons of handouts and reviews on it. Just don't come to class late or intend to leave early...if so, don't bother coming at all.

She is on of the nicest teacher teaching economics. She makes it interesting and she posts up her notes online so just in case you miss a class. The assignments are not too bad and if you read your chapters you will do very well. She also usually gives one bonus question on each test. It was fun taking her class.

Really passionate about economics, and really does try her hardest to make the class as interesting as possible, but it only works on those who are really interested in the material. Half the class is always either asleep or completely zoned out in her lectures. Make sure to just print her notes from the net, and know the material. Overall, alright

Good prof. Got a B overall in Micro part without doing anywork at all, just showed up to class everyday. Gets very annoyed about attendance, so keep that in mind. makes mistakes occasionally. Attending her lectures pays off. (The Econlab was garbage.)

I found this class easy enough, the textbook has all the info you need. Prof. Compton knows what she's talking about and is interesting, but I honestly get the impression she doesn't like teaching... "don't come if you're going to leave early, don't come to my office unless it's office hours, don't use my email"... hmmm...

Good prof. Might get a little confused during lectures now and again, but if you're on top of things it's a non-issue. Great resources if you're a big Economics junkie - blogs, websites and the discussion board really helps if you're struggling with an assignment or need clarification. Opportunities for bonus marks on exams and bonus assignments.

She is an amazing prof, she is very helpful and knows what she is talking about. If your going into economics, she is the prof for you. I learned alot and she kept me interested in the class. The only negative about her, is she is a boston bruins fan.

Dr. Compton is a great prof and is very knowledgable. Very willing to help during office hours and email. Provides a discussion board for questions, and responds to problems very quickly with very detailed explanations. Very dedicated and wants her students to understand. Study the notes, attend class, ask questions, and you should do well.

Dr. Compton is a great professor. Above all, she's normal and speaks english which is a BIG DEAL. She has interest in individual students, lectures and notes are easy to follow. Attend class and pay attention, and it'll be an easy six credit hours.

Dr. Compton was the best prof I had all year. Extremely intelligent, uses relavent examples, draws connections to current events, provides lots of examples and questions, and always just an email away if you need help. Midterm/final were not easy, but beyond fair and if you do the questions she gives you, you will do well. Highly recommended.

Good prof. If you want to do well, she will give you opportunity to do so. Lyryx labs can be done as many times as you want prior to due date, provides lots of examples and questions, and bonus questions on exams. Pay attention to the random things she says in class and the extra readings - they will likely be a bonus question on the exam.

the labs are a major bonus. midterm was kind of tricky, but not too bad. She's pretty easy to listen to and learn from.

Best Prof I've had at University. Very interesting to listen to, lectures fly by. You just have to pay attention. Extremely thorough notes (that she puts on the net). She loves economics and uses real-life examples, which makes it really interesting. If you are taking economics, take it with Dr Compton. I recommend her completely.

Dr. Compton is a great prof. Totally helpful on the forum and is pretty fair. Make sure you do the lyryx because some of the same questions pop up in the tests, although at the cost of taking ALOT of your time if you want to get 100% in them. Powerpoint notes are great. One thing though, I found this course harder than Calculus 1.

Definitely the most passionate prof. ive had at any level. Loves economics, and makes it enjoyable to be in her class. Textbook is for concepts, the lyryx labs are for examples, so I suggest buying them. Her tests are very easy if you know the material, not something you can just walk into though. Excellent prof, 100% recommend her.

She's hilarious! Really tries to get some of the kids in the class to take up economics as a major. Interesting course, and probably THE MOST relevant course I have taken this year. If you're going into Arts, don't take something stupid/pointless like Psych or English, take Economics!!!

She's the best professor I've had my first year. Course is easy if you put in hours of work. Test questions are given to you ahead of test but memorizing it is no use due to the amount of questions so you're better off actually studying for it. Actual course is great too. You really learn things that are relevant with the economy.

The best prof I have ever had! Do whatever you can to get her if you want or need to take Econ 1200. Each class was very interesting and she uses humor all the time. Very easy to talk to her outside class. I didn't think I would like ECON but it became my favorite class because of her. Great use of the Angel website.

Prof compton is i guess an alright prof. but you really have to put in the effort i did the effort and only pulled off about a B-Cplus. She has alot of information that you have to and understand fo te tests and exams. Final exams really hard long answer. Id recomment another proff whose easy rating is highr cuz this proff mde the course reallyhard

This prof is great! She's always willing to help. Yes, she provides test review questions w/o answers, but all the answeres are either in the notes or in the textbook. Just do the lyryx questions, read the textbook,come to classes, & study her notes. The mid-term & exam questions are taken from the review questions & the notes.

I found this class fairly easy. Going to class isn't really required, because she provides notes, but I still went to them all. Lectures are fairly dry, but that's kind of expected from intro to economics class. Textbook wasn't used once, though it's still required I'm pretty sure for the assignments online. Overall, I recommend this prof.

She made this course out to be difficult and spoke on the economics of buying the book, etc. It was an easy class - go to the lectures, pay attention to her, and you will do fine. Other than her over-selling the difficulty, she was energetic and engaging.

Attending lectures is important. One of the best ways for me to study is to write out the slides by hand, and the way she prepares her slides makes that a tad difficult at times. Challenging course, pretty good prof. She's pretty as well, nice smile lol. If it matters.

She was quite inspirational to me. All the talks I had with her, she provided a listening ear and gave exceptional feedbacks.

I wish people could give Janice more credit for her awesome teaching skills. I appreciate the extra work she gives to students by giving out extra practice homework on D2L to ensure that her students are really understanding the concepts. She is welcoming when you have questions to ask her during her office hours. Very knowledgeable.

Easiest final ever. It was basically just copy & paste of the online lyryx problems. Study the lyryx labs and you're golden. Also gives a 2% bonus mark if you read a book. Well worth it.. it might save you from a B to an A! You never know. I wish she and her husband Ryan would teach courses at Asper. Best profs I have ever had. HIGHLY recommend.

Miss Compton was a great prof by far the best one i had all year. She's not a tough grader and she's always willing to help. She was always in a good mood which made the class more enjoyable and she always kept it interesting. If i have the chance with her I will definitely take it.

She is a very caring prof. You can tell that she really cares about her students and their success. I took this class online and there were flipit ? and labs. Study the labs for the tests and you will do awesome! I really enjoyed microeconomics more than I had thought I would. I would definately take a class with her again!

She's a really good prof, the practice questions she gives out before the exam are really useful. She's easy to approach inside and outside of class! She usually says things in class that will be on the exam, but doesn't note it.

Janice is honestly a really nice prof and tries her best. With the review questions she gives out, she does not like to give out answers but if you copy and paste the questions into google, you will most likely get the answer and find other exams. she also puts 1 or 2 questions from the review on tests. GO TO ACDC ECON YOUTUBE VIDEOS, trust me.

great prof and is clear in her explanations. her lectures can be a bit fast paced which is why its important to always be listening or you may miss something. id highly suggest printing out the notes before class and bringing them with you, and write any of the examples or extra information she gives you.

Professor Compton is a very good professor, but goes through content extremely quickly. She leaves the notes online, therefore don't try to write them down in class because she does not leave the slide up for very long. She is helpful out of class with questions and gives opportunities for easy marks.

Good prof, nothing outstandingly amazing, no glaring complaints. Discussion board can be helpful. Online homework for every chapter but only 12 Q's tops. Exams weren't too hard. Got less interesting as course went on but that's just my opinion. Would recommend to a friend.

Fairly good teacher. Lectures are interesting - may be a bit boring if you are not ACTUALLY interested in learning economics. I guess some people found it a difficult class but it was fairly okay for me. She doesn't post the answers to questions on UM Learn which is pretty annoying but she discusses a lot in class. Idk why some people think shes a hardass... shes not.. its university and honestly her outline is easy and fair. the textbook is the same as the course. just show up to lectures and you'll do fine. honestly people need to stop complaining, econ is common sense and an easy course

Janice seems to have a lot of bad ratings but I don't understand why. I admit she is not the most organized professor but she does understand what she is teaching and she is very helpful if you are struggling. My experience with her was very good I participated a lot and I left like she cared about her students and I think she's a kind grader

Dr. Compton is a pretty good prof. She has fair exams and explains things clearly. Dont need the textbook because it is exactly the same as the notes posted. You have to go to class because she removes slides from the notes she posts, but as long as you go you will do fine. Would recommend this course.

Dr. Compton was a great professor, she posted lots of practice problems and was very accessible outside of classes for extra help. In her lectures she went through lots of examples. Her compassion and dedication to students took me back to high school learning a complaint is she didn't post the solutions, expecting students to use discussion boards

She is a good professor. The tests were easy if you studied and did practice examples. She is very accessible outside of class and if she won't answer emails for a day or two she tells you a few days in advanced. She has clear grading criteria and you will do well if you put in a decent effort.

I did awful in this class but that was no fault of Dr Comptons lol. She can be moody if someone takes a picture or doesn't have a mask on but thats it. Her math skills are questionable but there are no exams and a lot of ways to get easy marks if you pay attention.. those saved me from failing

NO EXAMS. You need the textbook for the self learn chapter. Doesn't just read off of her slides. Can occasionally get mad when students take pictures or aren't wearing a mask. Very easy course if you just show up to class and do a couple questions. 100% recommend Dr. Comptons course, don't listen to any of the bad reviews on here.

Janice was an incredibly good prof who was very willing to give help when asked for it. Though her tests are fairly hard and fast paced if you stay on top of the practice questions and understood the concepts before the tests you will be completely fine. Probably the best option for taking this class!

I really enjoyed Dr. Compton's class. Her lectures can get a little confusing especially when it comes to her graphs and math. However, she provides you LOTS of resources. She's honest with her expectations and you can definitely tell she cares that her students succeed. She doesn't do exams and primarily grades for non cumulative tests.

No finals, instead we had 4 non-cumulative test. Really generous grader. Class was easy for the most part, got a little difficult during the last couple of chapters.

Dr. Compton is an amazing prof. I liked her teaching style. She has many resources for you to succeed and is very accessible for additional help. Just do the Achieve assignments and practice problems, and the tests will be easy for you. Some questions are based on common sense. She appreciates participation and explains if you get things wrong.

I think Janice does an amazing job being a prof. She is very considerate and cares for the well-being of her students. Just do your textbook (online) homework and study in advance. You can get an easy A+ in her class! No midterm or final, just tests! Most questions from the tests comes from the practice tests she uploads and required homework.

Great prof! She made Econ1010 a very interesting and doable course, and her teaching is amazing. She is very caring and fair with her grading. One downside is the exam being worth 50% but if you just attend her lectures and take some notes you'll easily be able to digest the course content. Take her or her husband Ryan for economics!!!

I enjoyed 1010 with Dr. Compton. She breaks down topics well. All math concepts were explained perfectly with tons of examples, practice problems/tests, & E.C. However, She used poor lecture slides (in W24) provided by a textbook company that had too many words and were hard to follow. We had to buy an online textbook to complete assignments (15%)

I really enjoyed ECON 1010 with Dr. Compton. I found her lectures engaging and thought that she prepared students for tests and exams extremely well. She gave us thorough notes from slides and I also thought that the required textbook was actually interesting and easy to read. If you do practice questions and attend lectures you'll be fine.

Grades on tests are curved, there is extremely easy pre-lecture assignments, homework is fairly easy, your given lots of practice I had 99.97% in the course before the final. Go to class, do homework, and you'll exceed

Professor Compton makes Econ 1010 engaging and manageable. Her lectures are clear, and the textbook is helpful. Attend class, do the practice questions, and you'll do well. Unstuckstudy is also a great study tool alongside the course resources.
