Ms. Crowley is an excellent instructor, She obviously cares about students. She gives good lectures and demonstrates how to solve problems. Her study guide is great. It helped me a lot with class You must attend the lectures or you will not do very well. Take her if you want a clear teacher, but she makes you work hard for your grade.

Hard subject, but a fantastic teacher to take it with. Clear, caring, very helpful in office hours, gives good tips on how to succeed in her class. Must study and show up. I took this course over summer, and surprisingly it was an amazing choice. I learned more than I anticipated, and walked away with study habits that I know will help get me through nursing school. Janice is very intelligent, and eager to pass her knowledge on to her students. Dr. B was great in lab as well, they make a great teaching team!

BEST CHOICE EVER TO TAKE THIS CLASS. She is so understanding and compassionate to her students. Her teaching skills are amazing. You actually walk away with useful material and learn the subject. You do have to put in effort and I did and studied every day and that hard work will come up in your grade if she sees you putting it in. Best teacher!!!

Highly recommend taking her! I have never had a more passionate and genuine teacher until I was in Mrs. Crowley's class this summer. She not only wanted her students to learn, but you could see in her teaching how compassionate she was about her job. Her personally-written chapter notes and practice problems were extremely helpful. Very impressed.

Great Professor!!!!!!! Her personalized notes, pencasts, and practice problems are a great addition to her lecture. A couple hours, every day, outside of class spent on reviewing the notes and doing the homework problems helps you to prepare for exams/the next chapter. Make sure to not fall behind with the course material! I plan to take her again!

Professor Crowley is without a doubt the best teacher I have had during my time in college. She provides an abundance of opportunities for extra help, provides notes and tutorials over everything that is covered in the class. Its not an easy A, but if you care about learning the material for future use, then this teacher is an excellent choice.

This instructor is very approachable. She really cares about her students and reacts positively to feedback. She is enthusiastic and is passionate about Chemistry. Thus, creating an encouraging, thriving learning environment. I, especially, enjoyed when she shared with the class fun facts that were tied back to Chemistry and the health industry.

Chem 60 during the summer is HARD but do-able! Honestly just do what she says and you WILL pass. She does not expect much from us - review the notes and do the homework before the next lecture and you should be good! Although taking it during the summer was tough I found it somewhat easier because lecture was almost everyday

She's an awesome professor! She makes chemistry understandable. You need to put in the work though. It's not an easy class, but if you study, read the notes, and pay attention in class, you will pass. She is also very approachable and takes the time to really help you. I worry when teachers have their own text for class material, but I still use her text for Chem1A. She is personable, very encouraging, organized, prepared, and wants her students to learn. Took this class over summer and i will never regret it! I have never took a chem class before and was so scared. She made concepts understandable and relative to my future career. Professor Crowley is one of the best teachers that I've had. Lectures made sense and had a demonstration, which made it interesting. She understands problems students tend to have and takes those into consideration with tests/labs/homework. Labs were very enjoyable because it tied lessons in. Tests weren't hard. Missing class will hurt your grade.

Janice & her husband Dr Branca are AMAZING! I've taken chem before & didn't do too well, but I received a high A this time! The ysets you up for success & as long as you're willing to put in the work you'll be successful! The Chem survivor guide is so helpful & she put so much personal time & effort in it. Absolutely an AMAZING TEACHER!!! Professor Crowley has a great passion for chemistry and her students. She provides you with all the resources to succeed in the class but you have to work for it. Study groups are highly recommended and have your Survivor Guide on day one. Approachable and available before and after class if you need more help.

She is passionate about science and teaching. Take good notes & use the study guide. Do the practice questions she assigns. If you still don't get it, she would be happy to help. She really wants her students to learn and succeed. She gives real-life applications in her lectures to drive it home. May spend a bit of time off-topic occasionally.

Janice is by far one of my favorite professors, she is a women who knows how to make you a successful student and individual. Her class can be difficult but that is because she knows that you are an intelligent and capable human being. She is an incredible teacher, and my school needs to give her more classes to teach. I was so nervous to take Chem, but Crowley made it so fun! Not only is she a very understanding and helpful teacher but she really engages in a relationship with her students and jokes around with them. I think people confuse hard teachers with hard subjects and chemistry can be hard, but she is a very good teacher! Highly highly recommend!

I took Professor Crowley for CHEM42 and I highly highly recommend her. The class is layed out perfectly, the survival guide is fantastic. While her class has a lot of homework and quizzes, all of these help you to fully understand the material to lay down a SOLID foundation of knowledge. I feel so confident and inspired now from taking her class.

I took this class over summer session but I highly recommend it! She makes the class easy to understand and breaks apart heavy concepts. If you need her she has office hours and is always willing to help. The tests are not too bad if you understand the concepts. I recommend going to class everyday since it is fast pace! Also the tutorial center!

She gives you a survivor guide (book of lecture notes) so you're not trying to write down a ton information during lecture. Crowley is one of the greatest professors at the JC. You can tell right away that she loves what she does. Chemistry was never a strong suit for me and after the first day of class I learned a lot more than I ever did in any other chem class. She makes sure everyone is caught up before moving on. Very good lecturer, demonstrations are always interesting and connect perfectly with lecture content. Very personable. No homework turned in, but it is necessary to do all (or almost all) recommended homework (unless, of course you have eidetic memory or something similar). There are quizzes, mostly at beginning of semester (less at end).

Janice teaches assuming the class is absolutely unaware of the material, and works her way up once majority of the class understands the material. She made subjects that were difficult to grasp more easy to understand. Her ability to be connect with her students and make everything that we learned in lecture, simple, was great. I took her accelerated 6-week summer class. Janice made me love chemistry after hating it for years. She went to the tutoring center every single day to help. She even wrote her own workbook/textbook which the class uses. Meet her halfway; ask questions; do the homework every night, and you'll be totally inspired.

Probably one of the most dedicated and caring professors I've ever had. Keeping up with the material is crucial for tests and pop quizzes. The work was reasonable, but it is very easy to fall behind. She's very approachable and cares deeply about the success of her students, which was instrumental because I'd had no chem experience. It was a tough class but it was SO worth it and I was well prepared for Chem1A!

I took Prof. Crowley a year ago for chem42 and she is still to this day one of the best professors I have ever had! She uses a textbook that she created called the survivor guide which is SO much more helpful and organized than any other textbook or powerpoint slides. She truly loves this subject and wants every student to succeed.

I took Crowleys class this spring semester that was affected by the coronavirus. Obviously, in person class was better and I learned more, but there was only a slight drop off after the transition to online distanced learning. Everything she taught us was in her Survival Guide and it had tons of practice problems. Tests are based off the SG!!!

Crowley was hands down one of the best teachers I've had at the Junior College. I don't consider myself the best when it comes to chem but Crowley definitely went out of her way to help. She truly care about her students and wants you to succeed. If you get that chance take her I promise you won't regret it!

One of the most caring professors I have ever experienced at Santa Rosa Junior College. Something that I really respected her for was her amazing words of encouragement and the way she would listen and give positive feedback to her students. Professor Crowley was an outstanding professor. I took Chem 60 over the summer and loved it. She was very clear with what she expected from you, and was always ready and eager to help. She responded to all emails, usually within an hour. I loved this class so much, that I decided to take Chem 3A with her this fall. Her survivor guide was amazing.

Professor Crowley provides a special notebook for her 3A class which has all of the notes you need already written down so during lecture you can really pay attention and just annotate notes as you go. Crowley is the best chemistry teacher hands down. She will make you love chemistry! I said "beware of pop quizzes" because she gives short quizzes every class but don't let that scare you, they are extremely helpful and help you prepare you for the exams. If you do well on the daily quizzes, you will do well on the exams. If you study of course.

There were quizzes everyday which I found very overwhelming. This class is only based on your exams grades. But she is a fun teacher and always made class enjoyable.

Professor Crowley is the best teacher you will ever have for chem. Ever. She makes her own textbook which is great because the only stuff in it is the stuff you need. You absolutely do not need to get the optional text book, only hers. She has daily class quizzes but if you study and do homework as she recommends you will do great.

Crowley is great, she cares about her students and everything is very fair. A packet is bought as required materials from the student store and it has all the notes and homework you'll need for the entire semester. Very organized and I wish more professors did this. Take her husband Professor Branca if you can, both are great people to learn from.

She is straight up and teaches everything you need to know for her class so you don't have to do any reading outside of class. Every class starts with a quiz on the material from previous lectures which are pretty easy/fair, just do a couple of the homework problems. Also, her homework isn't mandatory.

Crowley can be a tough teacher to connect with since she has a strong opinionated personality, but she is a good teacher. If you show you're putting in effort she will respect you. Don't let her strong personality deter you from asking her questions. Keep up with the material/do the homework and you shouldn't have too hard of a time in her class.

By far one of the best classes I have had. Lectures are concise and clear and sometimes contain demonstrations that help with understanding concepts. I would say the most important part about this class is the homework. If you don't complete and understand the concepts in the homework, you're not going to do well in the class; it's that simple.
