ehhh she's a weird one. makes you learn the material but by making it as hard as possible. makes even the most basic math class as abstract as possible. you also have to do everything her way..

I like this teacher. She's strict about the way she wants things done, but she actually TEACHES. I didn't think i was going to do well, because I did not take math for 6 years, but I ended up with an A in her class. The final is really easy...

Good teacher. She had a book with all of the hw work/answers available to check before hw due. Very helpful. Strict, but will prepare you for later math classes. If you are a serious student, this is a teacher to consider.

Mrs. Hector ABSOLUTELY inspired me without even knowing it!..After going back to school at the age of 40, THANK GOD I had her for a math teacher. VERY FAIR and helped by prepping you for future classes. She lays out what is expected of you and gives you the tools to do the work yourself. AWESOME!

Ms. Hector is so enthusiastic about everything she teaches. She doesn't make you feel bad if you don't understand something; she always welcomes questions. She is very clear and will (if needed) explain something over and over in different ways until you understand. Ms. Hector's classroom is a happy

She has a homework solution binder which you can look at if you don't understand any homework problems. I didn't like math, but after taking Hector's class I understand it. I got A's in both of her classes for 112 and 114. Just be up front and tell her what you don't understand!

she makes math somewhat fun and challengeable. She is strict about neatness and deadlines but sure does make anybody responsible. What is interesting is that she teaches a couple of ways of solving problems. She sure made it easier for me.

Hector is a good teacher, and I miss her esp. now that I am in calculus. Do the work, ask questions, use office hours! She gave me extra problems when I asked for them& made certain I understood the material. I wish the math dept. would schedule her for upper math classes.

Ms. Hector is an excellent teacher! Do the daily homework, ask questions & attend classes you will do fine in her class. She has homework solutions in her office and is willing to help you, just ask and take the time. She gives numerous techniques of how to tackle math problems for people that have different learning styles. Take her class!

Great teacher. Makes you work, but you end up really understanding this stuff and the tests are fine if you come to class every day.

Very nice. Takes time to explain if needed. Office doors are always open for you. She was a little too fast for me. If you are one who catches on quickly, then you should have no problems. If not, she's there to help. Lots of quizzes and exams, however it's good for you, keeps you on top of your game.

She's a good teacher, knows what she's teaching and her class is fairly easy, and doesn’t collect homework all the time so you could get by without doing your homework from time to time.. Good luck!!

Great math teacher. Do your homework, use her office hour with the homework solution binder, and you'll be succesful with her, as well as learn math. She is more than happy to stop during her lecture to answer questions, just ask! I'm only sorry she's not teaching 112 next quarter......

I have hated math until now. The teacher makes it really interesting and keeps at it until you know it. Always answers my questions. I definitely want to take my next class from Mrs. Hector

She is a great Math teacher, explaines every question. If you do your homework and be in class on time you'll be successful. I would highly recommend to take her Math classes.

Mrs. Hector is very helpful. She always makes sure you understand the material; and she offers help outside of class.

As long as you are mentally there, you will do fine. She doesn't collect all the homework but you never know which ones she will collect. Be sure to fill out the entire page of notes you are allowed per exam. The final is multiple-choice so don't sweat it. On review days have your questions ready. That's how I got an A and I suck at math!

Great teacher. Just do the homework, study for the tests and you will easily get a B. This class will prepare you for 112.

I had her for 112 and 114 and I really liked her style.She knows what she wants from stidents always clear and fair for everyone.You can have page of notes on the exam which helps a lot.3 exams and final.some test and take home tests.Participation is the key to pass her class.

takes attendence marks you tardy if you're 2 seconds late. teaches okay, but spends way too much time on each topic then speeds through whatever she didn't get to earlier. tests are pretty easy, allows note pages for each so good notes means easy A. lab worksheet per chapter which are just like the hw she assigns. two group projects - busy work

we moved along rather fast, but there was alot of material to cover in 12 weeks. If you want to learn, she is there to teach you. Listen, take notes be on time, come prepared, ask questions.

she is very strict about attendance.if late 1min. you are late .if you don`t let her know that u are late she will put abense.

she is a good teacher, but very strict about attendance ,(be on time or earlier).Her test are harder that homework problems, so a lot of time out of class must be invest in this class daily(do all homework assigned).The good news are that you will learn a lot even if you don't enjoy math,and if you do enjoy math this is your class.

Mrs Hector is a great math teacher. I have never really been a big math fan but after taking her class I can really say my math knowledge has greatly increased and so has my interest in the subject. Most who complain don't like having to work for their grade. To them I say grow up, your in college get over it! Excellent experience, no complaints.

Probably the easiest class I have ever taught. She's a little on the weird side and treats you like you're five. But aside from that she was a very helpful teacher, very clear, a little uptight, but very manageable. Decent class.

Textbook are worthless after being torn into pieces (for homework)!! Clear lecturing and rather easy exams(all m.c.)...Do n't be late cuz she doesn't accept late work(for 1 min)after class has started. Not an easy A!

Mrs. Hector is the strictest teacher I've ever had in my life. She's tough as hell, but I learned a lot in her class. I hated her... but I was able to finally understand math and did well in the class. If you can handle your rigidness... go for it, but it won't be easy.

Ms. Hector is a great teacher! She cares about you passing the class. If you don't understand something in class then ask her and she wil go over the problem again. We don't use the textbook in class. don't be late the first 2 weeks! We get to use NOTES on the test! Take good notes, copy everything she writes.The class is easy!

A great teacher who is willing to help you if you ask and has tremendous resources to help you if you are willing to put the effort and do what we came here to do is learn. I took her for algebra and her teaching style has worked for me to get to Math 10.

Relatively friendly and approachable. Teaches slow which I liked, lets u use notes on quizzes and tests. Taught the material well, but was a bit vague when you ask questions about assignments which was a bit frustrating (she just wants you to work it out for yourself). Tests weren't too difficult. Would take her class again, for sure.

This teacher is very helpful and approachable. i Liked the way she teaches step by step and when you need help just go to her office hours. You have to be willing to do the work though if you wanna pass.

Awesome teacher she keeps the class going so if you think you might slack off a little bit then this isn't the class for you. She is hard make sure you do all hw or take home quizes which ever she gives cause that will mess you up I am an A student and I got a B because of take home quizes

I got an A in the class, easy tests based on homework questions. You will be fine id you do all the homework problems. Final exam is multiple choice type. She is good with normal problems.

TO PASS: DO THE HW!! for all the tests and quizzes: do online practice quizzes... FOR FINAL: do the pratice final at the back of the book and online pratice final. Dont expect to get an A without the work.. you need to show up to class everyday and put into extra effort outside of class.. BEST WAY TO PASS: PRACTICE THE PROBLEMS before the test..

Her lectures are very clear and she answers all your questions. Her quizes are easy but the tests are a little bit tougher. As long as you attend her class everyday, take notes, do the hw, and do the online tests, and the practice tests in the text, you will get a solid A in her class. She gives out 5 extra credit points on each tests too!

Janice is a geat teacher. She made my math class fun and I found all the tests,quizes and exams to be very fair as it covered all the work we studied.

Shes good at teaching, but she wasn't the best when you needed help. Shes also very strict. She took off points on my quiz for spelling a word wrong. You also have to be on time to turn in assignments or she won't take them. She doesn't offer much extra credit. Theres no homework. If you are late more than twice in the first week she will drop you.

she explains things clearly and helps you when you need it. if you want an A though, you need to work your ass off. this is not an easy class.

Helpful and easy to learn from but definately strict. Punitive about tardiness and simple mistakes but I think it helps to over prepare you for exams. Not a hard class if you commit a college level amount of time to it. To get an "A" you WILL have to work for it.

She is a difficult grader on anything but midterms and the final (both are multiple-choice scantron-based, yay). Yes, she'll dock off points for spelling and grammar. Attend class and write down everything she writes. She allows 1 page of notes for quizzes & midterms. Two for the final. Otherwise, I didn't find the class THAT challenging.

This is one of the most helpful math classes I have ever taken. Mrs.Hector is completely straight foward and she is strict but if you follow her guildlines you will do very well. She gives you a packet of worksheets that she works out of throughout the class and tells you step by step. If you have a hard time with math I suggest taking Mrs.Hector

At first the work seems hard, but as the course progresses you realize that the work behind you was easy. In this class you will learn a lot, but you really have to work to understand the material. She teaches over four classes and does not have time for each individual student, but she will help you if you are stuck.

clear lectures/she was extremely helpful when i visit her during her office hours. her class is not a easy class, but if you study, you can get A+

PRO: She tells you how strict she is. It's not coming by surprise. And yes if you are late 1 min you loose your points. Test's were repeated every time with chance to get more points. CONS: Picky, and anal about the steps to solve.

This teacher is very anal. I will agree with everyone. She is a nice woman. She makes jokes every once and awhile too. She just wants you to follow her system. You can't do problems your way. They have to be her way! Or else... she will take many points off. Do your homework and study. You should pass then. She is not terrible.

Really mean person. HW on Web are ten times amount compare to other professor. Never answer any questions if she thinks the questions you should already know. I hope she can see the comments and be nicer to her students. You are not judging students! You gotta help them if they have questions. That's the basic responsibility a teacher should have.

She is very nice. Shes always willing to help if needed. Notes do help in her class. Homework and quizs are usually done online but, major tests are done in class. Loved her class! If I could take her all the way, I would! She helped me pass my math210! =)

Ok seriously, Hector isn't even that bad.She is pretty clear, teaches well, and straight to the point. Of course you will be needing to read the book though to keep up the class. You can't expect not to work and get an A in any class. The only downfall of taking Hector is, she is very strict. The slightest mistake she will mark.

I read the comments prior to taking Math 10, and was nervous due to all the negative reviews. How very wrong they were, Janice is a great teacher, very organized, and those who say otherwise were either slackers or just didn't care. You will have to work to get the A and be very precise, but she is being strict only to prepare us for the future.

Hector is a really great instructor for stats. Her syllabus and calendar have everything you need to know about the class, so there are no surprises. She is very organized, all her lectures were clear, and she made sure we understood the material. Keep up with the textbook reading, homework, and show up to class every day if you want that A.

Ms. Hector is a nice lady that takes the class seriously. If you want an A, you need to as well. Overall, I'm sure there are easier teachers, but not much better at teaching.

Just pay attention to her words and take good notes, then you will get an A. don't even have to buy the expensive textbook. she also gives lots of extra credit. highly recommend

She May come off as a tough teacher with tons of work, but do all the work the way she says and you'll do very well not only in her class but you'll do well in other math classes after you take hers. Also too on tests and quizzes even if you get an answer wrong you still get points as long as you show all of your work!

Professor Hector is very process and detail oriented but always willing to help you through the tough spots during office hours or if you make an appt. I'll take her again.

She is very well organized and gives you a calendar with the dates of all the HW due dates, quizzes, and midterms. Keep in mind that this class moves quickly and requires a lot of studying. Keep up with the textbook reading and notes and you'll be fine. Get the textbook, it's very detailed and will help a lot. Attendance is mandatory!

This professor isn't bad at teaching, but she's definitely not a nice person. She's extremely strict about things being on time and doesn't accept any excuses whatsoever. So, if you're late by one minute, too bad. She's sarcastic and makes students feel stupid which I really do not appreciate about her class. Smart, but I'm never taking her again.

Great math teacher! She is smart and very well organized. Uses her own notes which are crystal clear and more helpful than the textbook. Do all homework, attend all classes, use the 1 page note sheet for every quiz and midterm (2 pages for final), do the 3 labs, and you will get an A. You can't find a better Math10 teacher at De Anza!

She was one teacher whose class i really looked forward to attend. Made Business statistics so easy. Way of explaining was excellent and was very clear since the beginning what we are expected to do. Loved being in her class!!! She completely Rocked!!!

She's honestly the best math teacher I've ever had! She makes Stats so interesting! You don't need to buy the book - she gives you all the notes that you need! Class moves very fast so make sure you attend every class and do the hw, you'll DEF get a good grade.

She is very helpful. Willing to assist me in understanding this very difficult subject. I have struggled with math for a long time. In high school I barely passed algebra. I haven't taken a math class for more than 20 years so I appreciate having some one with the patience to guide me step by step.

Yes, she's tough, but she really did seem to care about her students. She goes over a lot of material because it's a short course, and she really tries to get it all in. We went over a lot of questions in class to help prepare us, and I did really well because of her help. She made it easy to understand. She also gave extra credit to help our grade

Nice lady. Don't have your cell phone out. Fast paced class. She seems very busy with other classes so she will refer you to the tutoring center but she has never turned me away during office hours or after class. Don't miss class. No excuses for missing a test,quiz,midterm,final, etc. Don't even try. Even with a doctor's note.

She is really a nice lady, and her teaching way is so clear. She uses one book that includes all materials in this class provided by her. At the begging of every class, she asks to turn in a paper or papers. That's not that hard. Whenever I go to her office during office hour, she helped me and really cared about me. Very clear about what she does/does not want on quizzes and tests. Unless you already know the material, I highly recommend coming to every class. Allows a page of notes front & back for each quiz and test, 2 pgs for the final. The material is a little difficult, but what you cover during lectures is EXACTLY what's on the test. Bit sassy at times.

Not that difficult. HW is outrageous. No matter how many questions you answer correctly, you will receive it out of 10 points. Don't buy textbook, just the binder. Lecture is boring, but really helpful just to follow along. Strict rules according to cell phones. Let you use one or two printer paper size cheat sheet for test and quiz. Ask questions
