She's a fine professor in that I feel like I learned a lot. I don't think my grade really reflects how well I know the material though. Her exams are tough, more what I would expect from an upper division class, and she doesnt directly teach the material on them. Critical thinking is important in her class. Not the best but I learned some stuff

Prepare to study, prepare to be temporarily disheartened by poor quiz scores, and prepare to learn. Her lectures will keep even the least interested students engaged in the material. Poor quiz performance does not make or break your grade. If you can emotionally distance yourself from those quiz scores, you'll find lapsansky's way is the rigt way

Janice... such a great human and engaging teacher but absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to succeed in her class. I have a 3.7 GPA and take tough courses but could not succeed in her class because her "small stakes" quizzes ruined my grade. If you are not good at timed, multiple choice multiple answer, quizzes I would not recommend this class. Tough exams too.

If I could go back in time, I would not take this class with Janice. It caused so much extra stress in my life. She is a great person, lectures are awesome, and shes a serious expert on A&P, but your grade will not represent your knowledge. Her tests are awful: essay, multiple choice / answer, short answer, & T/F all designed to trick you.

Janice is a really nice person and you will learn, but those are the nicest things I can say about her as a teacher. Your grade WILL NOT reflect the amount of learning you did bc of hard "low stakes" quizzes and test questions meant to trick you. She is also terrible at taking criticism about her teaching and grading methods. Avoid if you can.

Janice is very smart, but her lectures are pretty scattered. You can tell she knows a lot about what she is talking about, but that doesn't make her a good teacher. Furthermore, her tests and quizzes are unnecessarily hard. Multiple-answer multiple-choice where every answer "appears" to be correct. She also does online quizzes in the same format.

Condescending and belittling to students. Made this course so much harder than it needed to be. She also wrote the whole lab manual and gets offended if you don't understand something in it.

This is the worst class format. Not only are the online lectures hard to get through because you cant adjust the playback speed and you can hear her smack her lips in the mic but there are no real sources to guide you in the worksheets. She says to not search the internet for answers but we dont have a text book? All group work?? Tough grader!!

Avoid if you can. Class averages on exams have never been > 60, people always stressed/crying. Teaches as if everyone taking this course is going to medical school which couldn't be farther from the truth. No curved tests, sets students up for failure. Tests are unrealistically difficult, horrible teacher, couldn't care less about her students.

Lecture exams and quizzes are unnecessarily hard, I've never studied so hard for a class just to end up with a C. Janice is horrible at taking criticism and feedback from students, even after multiple exams where the class averages were 60%. No accountability on her end. Avoid if you can.

This is just a weeder class meant to scare away stem majors. There's nothing on the exams that actually test what you've learned in the class. Absolutely avoid taking this class at Western if you can. Also as everyone else has mentioned she does not take any criticism and will gladly let most of the class fail.

Janice Lapsansky did something many lecturers and professors could not, she kept me engaged and excited. The key is her ability to explain things multiple ways so that everyone has an understanding of functions/causation/etc. She encourages question asking and treats every one with respect. She has an exuberant personality and great sense of humor.

Avoid like the plague-throws plagiarism accusations around like its nothing, is an absolutely INSANELY hard grader (even if she didn't teach you a topic),and work was mostly group based (so if your group member didn't do anything, your grade suffered). Literally traumatized by her. I went in LOVING anatomy, and she killed the whole subject for me.

Dr. Lapsansky is one of the best lecturers I've ever had in terms of really engaging presentations. She is wonderful at answering questions and if you go to class every day you'll likely do well. The downside is that there are many group projects and she is a really tough grader on said group projects. Pick who you are working with, well!
