Great teacher! WOW! Goes into depth with material! Great class for new parents or for anyone who wants to have a family or has one already! I love how she demonstrates different ideas through examples of real life experiences. The class is a lot of work but its pretty easy just time consuming.

She is an nice and easy teacher. You can turn in HW anytime till near da end of the semester. However, there is lots of hw and projects so do not procastinate as it is very easy to do in her class.HW is easy though. Reading the book is key to succeeding in her class. Though i was gonna get a B in da class but ended up with an A. Enjoyed her class.

she is a great teacher. i loved her class, it was very informative. she is very understanding of late work and why you arent in class and such. it would be best to go to class for the lectures to help on you papers. there is no test, just papers and theres about 5-6 papers. overall its a good class.

She's a little unorganized & tends to wander away from the topic at hand, but her teaching methods are effective. She tries to help students the best she can and cares about each individual. She tries to make the class more interesting by incorporating group assignments and other little activities. She breaks down harder to understand sections and makes it easy. She has quite a few oral presentation type things but are relatively easy. She's very knowledgable about child development.

She is a great teacher. She's been dealing with kids forever and really knows a lot about what she's teaching. You get to observe children and apply what you're learning first hand. She let's you turn in work up to two weeks late and often extends that time! The Topic Guide HW is very annoying but do it every week and you'll get an A. No tests!

Great professor really passionate about her job. Easy going; very easy class. I took it this last semester passed with a very high A. Do your work and getting an A is pretty much given. Journals and readng logs are annoying, but they are easy points. NO TESTS, late work accepted, flexable. Overall good professor!

One huge tip: Try to get ahead of topic guides or any other assignments. When she says "This will be on the final" write it down and refer back to it at the end of the semester. Teacher cares about students work.

Reallllly easy class to get an A or a B. Her homework assignments require a lot of writing but they're definitely easy. There's an oral presentation at the end of the semester and a take home final.

She's a really good teacher, you just have to make sure you manage your time wisely to finish the assignments she gives you. It's kind of hard to stay on top of the work for this class, especially since there's a lot of reading to do. Be sure to manage your time wisely when doing her assignments! They're not hard, they're tedious and sometimes have to be detail oriented.

This course goes in depth about social issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. That being said this course requires you to be open-minded & challenges you to think about your view on such topics. Janice teaches this course with passion and bravery. She does not demonstrate white guilt but more so concern for humanity. I highly respect her.

If you want to be a teacher then this course will teach you how to create effective curriculum for children. If you are someone who does not like feedback then this course may be difficult, bc she provides constructive, fair,& honest feedback! She knows her stuff and is highly intelligent. This is a hard class work-wise, for a three unit class I found myself doing hours on top of hours of work. However, if you do the work it is an easy A and the work is very meaningful. I learned a lot about myself and the world and how to interact in it. She is very fair on grading and wants everyone to succeed.

I took a five year break from college and I had my doubts about going back. I was also very intimidated by doing online classes as I thought I preferred in person. I have taken chdev 30 and 31. This is life-changing work here. Rethinking our language and thought processes is at the core, meaningful work. It is challenging in some ways and the work makes you think. There is a fair amount of reading, they are books I will keep. They are helpful in the classroom and can be shifted to personal life too. Worth it!

when you are under a lot of anxiety She is literally there and CARES about her students mental health and well being first., I wish that one day I am just as understanding of a teacher as Janice is, I always took her classes , even when I finished all of my ECE classes I WANTED to learn more from HER classes when it was NOT REQUIRED.

There can be heavy weeks but plan accordingly and do a little every day. You get what you put in. As a preschool teacher, I have used the strategies that I have learn with the children with amazing results. She shows you how to dig deep into yourself, learn and then apply to your classroom. Open your heart and become better teachers.

30 and 31 are emotional journeys to reflect on yourself and how you may "react" instead of being present with children in the moment. The course uses Conscious discipline, that has the teacher use easy but effective positive approach strategies. You learn to open your heart and notice the positive. "What we focus on, we get more of".

TAKE THIS COURSE! This class focuses on how we communicate with children, create inclusive and diverse environments,and learn the importance of educating ourselves in order to be better teachers and humans! Professor Townsend is such an amazing professor! She really cares about her students success and supports them every step of the way!

I took CHDEV 31 (part 2 of the trauma informed practitioner courses) with Janice, and it was great! She a lovely professor who strives to help you succeed, and I also learned so many useful ideas for how to help a child who is struggling in the classroom! I've taken many courses with Janice and can't say enough great things about her classes! You will not find a professor who will care about you more than she does. She's passionate about her work & it shows through how she teaches. I *highly* recommend the trauma courses (30 & 31). These were by far my favorite classes to take during my time at LMC!

If you are in the field of working with children and young adults who have experienced trauma, I recommend taking these courses. Most of the activities are centered around younger children, however as someone who works with young adults (16-24), I have learned new skills and techniques to use when I am working with these young adults.

She is an excellent teacher, very professional, knows what she is talking about, knows how to motivate you and how to help you successfully reach your goals.

This Trauma Informed class was recommended to me by a lead teacher in the LMC Child Study Center and I am so happy I took this class. This material should be included in all teacher credential programs. I now have an understanding and a toolkit for supporting trauma affected children.
