Very clear, tries to motivate class to learn about econ history. Great professor!
I like Dr. Wilson. Her enthusiasm for economic history is boundless. She is very exuberant and excited about what she teaches. But alas, I lack the same intellectual inclination as she does. Overall, a very intelligent and effective instructor. If all UCD Economics professors were like her, economics would be the most popular major on campus.
She makes what would normally be a boreing topic some what interesting. Gives 1 midterm and 1 final with essay and short answer components. the IDs are pretty easy, and the essay can be very hard. Overal a slightly difficult class
very helpful, is like a cheerleader for the class, she is very enthusiastic about teaching.
yo. take this class. excellent teacher, writes everything out everything on the blackboard so u really learn and understand wut she's trying to teach. NO HW assignments collected. NO QUIZES. 2 MTs and 1 Final. She is fun and makes the time go by fast. The book is very good too. Great class to take.
take this class!!!!!!! she is an excellent teacher although sometimes she seems confused of what she is saying. hw is not graded but is very helpful for tests. she teaches straight off the book.. and she writes everything out. you will get an A if u study!!! she is really passionate about what she is teaching!!
Seriously, Dr.Wilson is one of the best professor who really cares about her students. I tried to get in this quarter, and could not get in. The students are lucky!! She is really clear on lectures too, and writes out everything you need to know for the exams. She is also wonderful as a person and as a professor. So take her if you have a chance!!
One of the best econ professors on campus. Clear and interesting lectures. Professor Wilson is very passionate about the topic and brings a very energetic and "peppy" attitude. I loved taking her class! Grades are based soley on exams, which are reasonable if you put in ample time to study.
Janine's lecture notes are super clear and organized. IF IT DIDN'T APPEAR ON THE CHALKBOARD, IT'S NOT ON THE TEST! Study the notes for tests, use the book for extra practice if you need it. Do the homework ON TIME so you'll understand what's going on in discussion. If you follow these instructions and still do poorly, you shouldn't be an Econ major!
She is one of the best professors in ECON Department. it's a boring subject, but she tries to make it interesting. she is happy to answer questions and always available on her office hours. You do need to go to lectures and take notes.
wrote basically everything on the board so the material was really clear. actually made the class really interesting. tests aren't too bad. she gives you all the terms you should know before hand. I highly recommend her for ecn hist.
Easy teacher. She gives you a list of study key terms. If it's not on the board, it's not on the test. Study her study sheet. Study the notes. You will get a good grade. Final was easy but a lot of memorizing. J.
She is an excellent professor. Very helpful and interesting. She doesn't use slides so get a good seat to read the blackboard. Her tests are pretty hard, all essay questions. You (or a friend) NEED to go to class to do remotely well on tests, they are entirely based off lecture notes.
I am the guy that wrote below about ECN111A. The one that ends with J. However, I noticed that this time around her notices left many gaps. In ECN111A, her notes on chalkboard made sense. ECN111B, she wrote notes that I frequently had to ask my TA when she was talking about. In additon, Final study sheet was two pages. ECN111A was 1 page. J.
Prof. Wilson is a great teacher. She is passionate about the topic and does her best to answer all questions. I took her for ECN 111B a couple of quarters ago and couldn't wait to take another class with her. I am taking 111A this quarter just because she is teaching it.
Dr. Wilson is definitely one of the better ECN professors at UCD. She has a great attitude and is very enthusiastic about the subject. Grades are based off of 2 midterms and 1 final; exams are fair if you put in the time and effort to study. I'm not a big fan of history, but Dr. Wilson made this class worthwhile to take.
Dr. Wilson was extremely enthusiastic about mostly dry material. Only lecture is necessary, but she can get confusing as she uses an outline form and often details the information in a unclear manner. With that said, you will get the grade you deserve based on how much you study, and if you have to take an Econ history class, this is the one to tak
Tests are hit or miss pertaining to your grade as a whole. 30% 2MT and 40% 1F. Teaching style is the most basic/boring I've ever seen in my life since its word for word from the book, may be why shes superficially enthusiastic. There is no HW grade so theres no cushion. Teacher needs more experience and she sometimes can't backup what she says..
She is a very nice lady, and is very willing to help you if you need it. However, the class is graded on only two midterms and a final, so that is tricky. Study really hard and MEMORIZE ALL THE TERMS ON THE REVIEW SHEET! She expects a lot of information on each of these terms. The essays are on huge topics (Great Depression and Southern Decline)
She's a great teacher, but her tests are really hard - at least during the quarter I had her. The tests (some IDs and 2-3 short essays) asked about broad topics, but you had to recite your notes verbatim to get an A (averages were extremely low). It's do-able, but study like hell.
VERY energetic teacher. Class is ok, just a bunch of note taking. Tests were moderate, but required alot of studying Final was easier than expected. Also she gives a few pts of extra credit. Just attend lecture!! Very important. I emailed her a short question on a policy issue, she emailed me back with a 1 page response. Very helpful!
She is a good teacher for ECN 111A; however, she is not that good for 151A. She simply copies the notes from the book directly. In the entire class section, all you can do is just copy and copy. The tests are not easy, you can either score high or score or nothing. The mean and curves for the class is ridiculously high. I got a B- with 86%...
Class is boring.... I just dropped it today...
Indeed, she simply copies everything from the textbook in class. So, you have to memorize a lot of data and information for the exams. Also, one of my friends who took 151A before tells me that her exams are getting more difficult in each quarter. Lastly, final exam is quite hard. It is not that easy as the people described before.
She wrote important notes on the chalk board so it is highly recommended to be in every lectures. Her midterm and final exam are hard. She is a nice person. Her grading distribution is very generous. I did horrible on all the exams throughout the course and still passed with "C." I should have failed the course but she was generous in the grading.
Love her. Material on midterms and final is all from lecture. Textbook is pretty much useless. She?s very passionate about economic history. Is always prepared. Be in class and you?ll do fine Yea, class is not superfun and exciting. Its an economic history class, not a star wars movie. Highly recommended.
Awesome professor. She is very Enthusiastic about the material and tries to get everyone involved during class. I definitely recommend!
I took her for both ECN 151A and 151B. She's one of the best instructors I've had. Everything on the exams are materials that she has gone through extensively in class and the homeworks given are pretty much like a study guide. If you pay attention in class and really know the homeworks, you'll do well in the class.
I took her for both 151A&B and I absolutely LOVE her! She is so enthusiastic about everything, brings in interesting articles, and super helpful. Her tests are manageable if you go to class, do the hwk, and do the study guide (DO EVERYTHING ON THIS FOR AN A!!!) Recommend her to everyone!!
Very clear.. She knows the material very well.. Take her.
Great professor that makes your classtime worthwhile. Her class is structured so that once you get to know what to look for, you'll be surprised how organized her materials' been. She makes class atmosphere uplifting and positive energy helps you to soak in information better. If you've never taken her class before, you should do it at least once.
Shes a really good professor and keeps the class interesting. Make sure you do the homework and know the study guide really well before the tests. Also the articles she goes over in class are big parts of the test. I found that this econ class was alot more conceptual than math based. Textbook not necessary
She is the best teacher I've ever had during my two years UC Davis study. I took her 151a and 151b at the same time and got A on both while I didn't really have much time to study after school. Just go to her class and discussion sections and you'll be fine. She also makes the class super fun and is very helpful if you may have any questions.
Pretty cool class. It's like US history, but with more numbers. Grade is based on two midterms and the final. Tests are all short answer format, are pretty hard to finish in the allotted time. Not to worry though, she curves the tests accordingly. Everything on the tests comes from lecture, so the book isn't required to pass the class.
Really enjoyed the class. Lectures are very clear and interesting and she tries to engage the class with current events. Two midterms, one short extra credit assignment. She's super helpful in office hours and very friendly. If you are interested in developing countries, intl trade or econ in general, I recommend taking the class.
She is the best teacher I ever had. She is extremely interesting, she is a clear speaker and makes the most boring things that I find into great interest. Her exams aren't easy but if you did the work, it is reasonable. She is really beautiful and generous!
She is a great professor. Show up to class and take notes and know the study guides you'll do fine. She has this green shirt she wears, makes me feel kinda funny inside...
In my opinion the best economics teacher in Davis! her classes aren't the easiest but if you show up to class you'll be fine. Tests are long but no surprises
People read that this is an easy class and think they don't need to study. The concepts in ECN111a are easier to grasp than those of other upper-div econ classes, but the 2.8 average rule still applies. So most of the class gets B's and a few get A's and C's. You still have to put in a good amount of effort to get an A. The book's helpful sometimes
Very enthusiastic teacher. She's so engaging in her lectures. It really draws you into the material. Her lecture material is accompanied by helpful anecdotes. She's a great teacher. Extremely organized layout for the class. Her office hours are informative, her tests clear, she provides study sheets, and she is VERY easy on the eyes.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD AT DAVIS! Attend lecture and study her notes, that's all you need. You don't need the books. Took for class for both ECN 111B and 115B, she taught both similarly. She is extremely clear when she lectures and her expectations for the class. I would take any class she teaches!
Dr. Wilson is so sweet, she's gives off such good energy with her enthusiastic tone of voice and her passion for the subject matter. She responds to e-mails religiously and give you all of the material you need in class (notes) to prepare for her exams. She's definitely one of the best professors at Davis.
Consider it a privilege to have Dr. Wilson as your professor. She is very smart and she has the best enthusiasm. As a student I feel it should be noted you were taught by Dr. Wilson, that's how good she is. Tests are extensive, but its a good thing!!! Enjoy!
Janine is a beast! Makes the material super interesting by telling stories rather than simply reading off lecture slides. Tests are super predictable. TAs were really bad and screwed up the grading for one of the midterms but Janine regraded half the tests herself. DEFINITELY recommend. Easy A
All I can say is: I choose my ECN minor because of her.
Super passionate about the subject as well as for her students. It is motivating to take her class. Don't expect easy work. I went to all of her office hours as wells as the TA and still ended up with a B+
Great teacher! Lovely lady, it is such a boring subject but she made it sing. Very good speaker and passionate, no homework at all but has a fair and tough midterm and final.
Here's what to expect; a) don't buy the textbook, we don't use it; b) make sure you memorize your notes because T/A's want exact answers; c) not an easy A but there is a generous curve (normally above 70 is a B); d) great public speaker; e) her lectures will follow the same letter pattern.
She presents concepts in a clear manner but her notes are too lengthy, leaving me to choose between listening to her or writing them down. Her tests are difficult and the amount she wants to know and memorize is ridiculous. I ended up spending most of my time on this class.
I went from a 59.5 in the first midterm to a 90 in the final... I think I made my point. She is totally amazing and I will take any and every single class she offers at UCD. You are not a true econ major if you have not taken her public finance class..
So I love her. Made me question why I am an econ major and not a history major!
She is very responsive to questions during lectures. Don't hesitate to ask her if you don't understand the materials. Textbook is not necessary, but make sure you fully understand the class notes before exams.
Her style of writing on the projector just didn't work for me; she would just speak. However, you'll just have to bear with a sore hand from writing bc you have to answer exam questions verbatim from her lecture notes. So at least no surprises. Engaging speaker and excels at teaching the non-quant econ courses. 2 MT, a Final, and EC paper
One of my favorite econ teachers. You can tell she loves her job. Lecture notes are very well organized (although plan on writing a lot - they're not posted on smartsite), and she presents material in a very clear way. Loves questions during class, answers them very clearly. Lots of material makes it a tough class, but worth the effort.
wilson is great. nobody would be able to stay awake in that class given any other professor. my advice is study hard for the 2 midterms and ace them because the final is a bit tough. the qtrs worth of info and only about 8 questions. midterms are EXACTLY like the information on the study guide just reworded differently. !!!!! fairly easy to get A
The best economics professor I've had. I would take every class with her if possible. Organized notes and charismatic lecturer.
Prof. Wilson is a great lecturer and her class is completely fair, interesting, and clear. Definitely have to go to class, she does not post notes online.
Lectures are interesting and clear. Really passionate about economic history. Make sure to go to class and take notes. Exams based on notes. Gives extra credit.
Easily the best teacher in the entire economic department. Lectures were interesting and meaningful. No surprises on her tests, if you study and pay attention you will do fine. Cant wait to take more classes with her.
This isn't the first class I have taken with Prof. Wilson. She is such a fantastic instructor, you can tell by her great energy in lectures. She is there for her students and genuinely wants them to learn and succeed. She makes lecture material much more interesting than it could be. If I could take every econ class with her, I would.
Took her ECN 115B in a 6wk summer session. Very clear and organized lectures. Touches on current events and relates it to material. Take advantage of her office hours. She does a great job explaining things simply to make them understandable when one-on-one. Tests are long and she grades hard, but graded our class on a generous curve.
Great Econ 1A teacher. I failed this class before once because my professor was horrible. Under Janine, I received an A. Sometimes birdbrained. Attend office hours, read the book, work hard on HW and I think anyone can at least get a B. Very entertaining to listen too and extremely charming, keeps lectures interesting. Overall, excellent professor.
Be prepared for a lot of assigned readings that may not be covered in lecture but may appear on the exams. Midterms and final are quite long and challenging. Overall a very hard class if you do not study on your own.
Took this class and found that her lecture style was very unorganized. Getting a good grade for her course took many hours of memorization of minute details for her very difficult exams. Avoid taking this teacher if you can.
Her lecture style was not for me. I found it hard to pay attention with what she was saying, while scrambling to write down all the notes she wrote on the projector. Tests are almost impossible to finish on time and require economic background not always covered in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR if you expect an easy A.
I took her class and found her lectures very interesting. She wrote notes on the overhead projector throughout the class. Make sure to do all the readings. Her tests weren't so bad but there was a lot of material that you had to memorize to answer the questions correctly. The test were graded very strictly.
I really love Professor Wilson's lectures! Even through the class is long, she made it very interesting. Go to her office hour! She will answer your questions very patiently and nicely. There're lots of stuff to memorize for the exams, but she would curve the grade.
Lectures are long, but doable. Pay attention, take really good notes and you'll do OK. Tests are out of the lecture, but doing the reading really helps as well. Prof. Wilson can keep a lecture hall completely engaged, which helps immensely. Office hours are usually jammed, but she's always clear and helpful.
Love the class! She made the lectures super amazing, time flies by in class! Class is lecture heavy, I would suggest typing the notes taken from class. Study and memorize the lecture and you should be 100% good. She is so passionate and so much energy about the subject, love it. No homework, one extra credit assignment. Would take again!
She doesn't really teach Econ History, but instead writes notes on the board and read them to the class while writing it. Talks very slow and boringly too. Do not recommend her.
She is a great instructor. She genuinely cares about students performances. Really helpful office hours and informative lectures. The only thing is that she will not post lecture notes online so you must go to lectures. Her handwriting is awesome, but a little bit fast. You may face a trade-off between taking notes and listening to lectures.
She is a great professor, her exams are exactly like what she teaches and she talks with such passion that you understand the material well instead of just falling asleep. She is very nice and really wants her students to succeed. I got an A in the class and it was one of my favorite classes at Davis.
Amazing lecturer, Best professor i have ever had. I have already taken her twice and taking all of her classes next quarter as well. Her grading criteria is really good.
She is a really good professor and she teaches very clearly. I was taking 22 units this quarter so I was not able to focus on this class a lot, but I looked at the lecture notes and did the homework and I swung a B in the class. If I had focused on it more I would have gotten an A. I highly recommend this teacher as she teaches in a way that sticks
Prof. Wilson was my FAVE professor! Not to say her classes were easy, but it's college -- what do you expect? I've taken 4 of her classes, & even with such a range of topics, she is exceptional/knowledgeable at them all! She displays all the qualities a good college prof should have: approachable, passionate, & compassionate. Thank you Prof. Wilson
I wish I had known her early on so I could have taken more of her classes. She is amazing, passionate, clear lecturer, helpful at it's finest. Lecture materials reflect on exams, no surprises or trick questions. She doesn't compete but help you learn. Heavy load of lectures and memorization but better with her than bored from someone else. Take her
An amazing teacher!! Her classes are wonderful!! Highly recommend!
Professor Wilson is Bae. No one in Davis will ever take her place in my heart. Amazing at lecturing, it's never boring. Makes thing clear and simple, has no problem helping you when you need it. Professors should follow her example because I honestly fell in love with Econ because of her! DEFINITELY TAKE! Will take more of her class if I can!
Professor Wilson is honestly the best. Made me actually care about/want to learn econ. Managed to make a 1.5 hour lecture interesting and engaging. She is clear in what she says/expects, is ready to help, and is caring and funny! One of the best professors I've had, would definitely recommend taking her if you can.
First of all, she throw you with tons of information each lecture. write like hell. Her test is really hard if English is not your first language because she like to ask question related to current news and ask for your opinions with lots of writing and explaining. She need to stop putting Trump in her test. It's an Econ class not a politic class.
I have taken three courses with Dr. Wilson. The first two went well, but this one did not. There is way too much content covered in class, making it extremely hard to study for midterms and finals. The exams are graded very strictly. Examples from notes do not represent test material. This is the hardest Econ class I have taken.
Prof. Wilson is an engaging lecturer, and she makes the material relevant to real life while also keeping examples pretty clear and concise. The material for 1A is pretty simple in my opinion, although the tests were more challenging than I expected. Just show up, take notes, and do the homework, and you will do fine. A definite recommend!
Very passionate about the material so makes lectures interesting. Grade based 90% on tests and 10% on online homework assignments. Discussion reviews the material and is good review but not necessary. Tests are straightforward.
You can tell she loves what she is teaching, and wants you to succeed. If you do the homework and go to lecture you should be able to do well in her class, although even if you don't go she posts videos of the lectures online which help for review purposes as well
Best econ professor so far. Very enthusiastic in teaching. Take her if you want to really understand the material. However, better studying midterm guide ASAP. Midterms and finals are all heavily memorized.
Janine is a well respected professor and she definitely wants to help you succeed in the class. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING. SHE WILL HELP. Tests are very comprehensive so be prepared to spend a lot of time studying in advance. Lectures are material dense so pay attention in class and ask questions. Tough class, good professor.
Hardest class I have ever taken at Davis. If you're looking for a decent class that doesn't require half of your life's existence, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Office Hours are often shared with her other classes, so expect a long line every-time you go. You'll get lucky if you can ask a question, and there's NO one on one time with her.
One of the most difficult classes Ive ever taken. STRICT grading on tests and discrepancy from test to test due to graders. Might put in hours to study for a test, and still end up getting an F. Nice lady, but the TA grading was awful.
Professor Wilson is by far the best professor I have had at Davis, and my favorite. Her lectures are clear, insightful, and insanely well organized. She is incredibly passionate in class and clearly cares about students. If multiple people are confused about a topic in office hours she will take class time to review subjects. Do the study questions
Don't have to try that hard to get a B. Just go to lectures and you'll do fine. If you want an A, you have to really know that material
Definitely a challenging class but well worth it. Professor Wilson is probably the nicest professor I've come across. Incredibly sweet and she wants to help her students. Don't be scared to ask her for help!
Prof. Wilson is an amazing professor. Her lectures are always filled with energy and answers any questions. Her notes are very detailed and help quite a lot. Her exams kind of make you think about the bigger picture. However, the test answers are not always clear-cut; so it's not really too clear what she wants. Overall, she's really awesome!
I showed up every day, sat in the back, and never participated or went to discussion/OH. I wish I got to know Prof Wilson better. She seemed super nice and approachable. She tried to make her lectures as interesting as possible! Her tests were all SA which is great cause partial points were given. Great curve!
Great Professor, enjoyed the class. Took time to draw relative examples from current events. Exam study guide definitely prepares you for the exam. Did very little of the reading, probably not needed for the exams. She really covers all the relative info in lecture, though the book (what I did read) can help bring some of the concepts together.
Great lecturer. Almost all the information on the tests were based off of lecture material so I stopped reading the assigned textbook pages. Very passionate about the topic and does a good job correlating history and current events. All grades are based off midterms quizzes and the final. No papers even though it was a history class, which was nice
Absolutely the best professor I have had at Davis. This class was engaging and interesting all thanks to Professor Wilson. Her office hours are very helpful as well, and tests were fair just make sure to do the study questions. After this class, I planned my spring quarter around taking another class with her. If you have the chance, take her class
Professor Wilson is the best teacher. I have taken three classes with her and I have enjoyed everyone of them. I highly recommend taking any class she teaches.
One of my favorite professors of all time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. She deeply cares for the subject and it shows in her lectures. Clear, concise grading and assignments. I thoroughly enjoyed writing the papers on my country. I suggested to take down notes for her lecture videos and study them over before an exam! Exams aren't easy but they are fair.
This is the second class I have taken with Dr. Wilson, I specifically chose it because she was teaching it. She is my favorite professor at Davis, her lectures are packed full of information, she is clear with her expectations and really makes you know your stuff. I would move around my schedule just to take more of her classes. SHE ROCKS
Great lecture, study sheet includes 95% of everything you need to know. But the tests are heavy. Lots of notes need to be memorized. Comprehensive final, about 30 pages pure notes for you to memorize.
Best ecn professor ever! Easy to get a good grade!
Wilson is prob one of the best professors in Econ department. A firecracker in lecture, so passionate about material. Grading fair, based on two midterms and a final. Practice homeworks help prepare for midterms. Took two courses with Wilson, loved both! Must go to lecture, no slides or lecture capture.
This class was extremely hard. Confusing lectures and pages and pages and pages of notes. Avoid. She literally talks and writes as fast as she can every minute of every class. Extreme overkill. Tests are tough, she does not share any test information with TA. Discussion is literally NO help. At first it is entertaining, turns annoying.
This professor is absolutely obsessed with trying to trick students on her tough test questions. Instead of using examples from homework or the book, she tries her best to confuse students.
One of the best professors I have ever had. She is supper passionate and caring. Dont skip classes! She will not post the lecture notes on canvas.
Janine is a great storyteller when it comes to ECN history. There were 5 short MC quizzes that are easy if you go to lecture. 2 midterms and a final, she provided study questions for each one. I went to the TAs office hours and discussed each question and got As on the tests. One short extra credit paper discussing a news article relating to class.
her quizzes and exams are only based on the lectures. you truly dont need the book. one 5 point mc quiz every week thats easy if you attend the lectures. 2 midterms that are very comprehensive and the study guide prepares you well. janine is such a warm, enthusiastic lecturer, if i could take her for all of my classes i would - take this class!!
Grade is based off of two midterms (20% each), a project on a developing country(20%), final (30%), and participation (10%). She is by far the most inspirational prof I've had at Davis and got me genuinely interested in the material. I feel as though what I've learned is super applicable and props to her for being such a great prof!
Professor Wilson is a gem, do not miss a chance to take her class. I really didn't care about econ history and solely took the class to fulfill a requirement, but she made it my favorite by the quarter by far. Her lectures are entertaining and interesting, and her tests are not hard since she gives you a very complete study guide. Amazing woman.
Don't miss lectures, and rely on the study guide heavily. She's an incredible teacher, and you can just listen to her in class without taking notes and shes so engaging you'll still get a C in the class without studying. It's easy to pass, but hard to get an A.
Dr. Wilson is honestly one of the few gems in the Econ department. She cares deeply about her students and that comes across during her lectures. Super accessible during office hours. Her tests and quizzes are completely based off of lecture notes so you can get away with skipping the assigned readings. Super interesting class too!
Janine is an amazing professor! Her class is the only one I always looked forward to going to. She gave weekly quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. You have to pay attention and take notes in lecture but she writes 95% of her lecture notes with you. She's very nice to get to know and really interested me in economic history! Highly recommend!!
She wrote notes in class rather than using PPT. Too much homework, including lecture prep, HW, discussion post, and adaptive test prep. The TA Joshua is not helpful. The digital system costs $82.35, too much.
She is really the sweetest professor in the ECON department because she genuinely cares for you, do not be afraid to ask her questions because she loves to answer them. Her lectures are very interesting as well even though it was a history class. I loved it and the workload was not awful either.
Her lecture isn't as helpful as understanding textbook and HW on your own. Her HWs are all in Cengage and the price is about $90. 45 MC and 1-3 short answer is the usual format, and final is online due to coronavirus. But, she explains concepts clearly and illustrates virtually. Do not escape just due to HW! Exam questions come from test prep!
Professor Wilson is an awesome teacher that made me actually enjoy economics. You can tell that she loves this topic because her lectures are so engaging! She relates all of the topics to real world examples so you can see why everything is so important.
I skipped almost every lecture and discussion, and got an A. You just need to remember to put in 30 minutes a day for the class. A lot of online textbook homework, but the homework helps a lot with understanding, and the textbook is great.
Dr. Wilson is reallty helpful and is open to questions. She does give multiple assignments each week, but all the assignments that she gives helps you prepare for her exams. If you do not understand them she does hold office hours before class to help you understand the assignments. She gives 2 midterms and a final which is a third midterm.
She is one of the best professors I have ever met. Her lectures are full of passions. For some reason, I messed up my 1st midterm, I got like 60 percents. But once you notice and go to her office hrs, do the practice exam, you will get A in your final score! Highly recommended.
homework load is extremely high. Lectures are sleep-inducing. Do not take her, no matter how nice she is.
Had to work for it but genuinely such a good class. All homework is online and there's 2 assignments every week. It's time consuming but really all you need to ace the class. Dr. Wilson herself is SUCH a good prof, her lectures are clear and respects/relates to the class. If you need to take this class, she's the best prof to take.
Wilson is a great professor who brings amazing energy with her to each lecture, making a generally boring subject (at least in my opinion) a lot more interesting. The subject matter itself was not difficult, and her homework assignments did a fantastic job of preparing us for the midterms.
Lecture TOO HEAVY! doesn't care about student learning. as others reviewd, WAY TOO MUCH material covered too quickly during lecture, leaves student no time to absorb material. after students feedbacked, she still talk and write as fast as she can, She covers a million things without any focus, makes lecture VERY HARD to follow. QUIZ Qn are tricky
Most controlling, inconsiderate prof. Lecture Tues,Turs, Weekly timed& graded Quiz due Fri, leaving student ONLY 1 day for the quiz. I never understand why she can't set the quiz due Sun instead (inconsiderate). Lecture rushes through huge amt of material, she expect you to spend all your time studying for her class.
Lecture rushes through huge amt of material, more like a review session. she expect you to spend all your time studying for her class, she needs to know that studnt are taking other classes, have to work esp during hard time of covid. She pretends to be caring, but her entire course design shows no care, no empathy to students.
Love the professor and her enthusiasm for the subject. The exams is where they get you. The paper timed exams (gradescope) would not be bad but she asks open ended, vague questions where she definitely has a preferred answer. One would expect decent partial credit but instead the grading was brutal. Rather have multiple choice questions...
OMG her passion for teaching is like FIREWORKS! I really see her devotion to perfect recordings (I'm taking the online version), efforts to ensure our discussion goes smoothly. She ALWAYS ALWAYS RESPECTS you and gives you so much feedbacks every time you speak in class. OMG she always replies my email PROMPTLY even when it's 1am! TAKE HER CLASS!
Excellent professor. She's really passionate about economics and teaches it well. Really responsive to questions too. Class was easy as long as you watch the lectures. Highly recommend.
The professor knows the material really well & her lectures are very informative where you can get by without doing the readings. However, her tests can be difficult b/c of the 50 min restriction, vague questions, & disorganized format. B/c of the time restriction, you don't have time to think or "breathe" btw each question or check your answers.
Prof Wilson is the absolute best! She teaches really well. I also love how this course is structured. The lecture prep quizzes, video lecture quizzes, and then chapter hw make sure you end up learning the topic. This might seem a lot but it's actually not. We had 2 midterms and a final. Exams weren't cumulative and the lowest exam was dropped.
This professor has a really good format to teach online due to COVID. She is nice and knowledgeable. The exams are extremely hard, but not because of the material. She expects you to answer exam questions with your own analysis if you just copy from your notes you won't get points. Exams are 5 pages long and need to be done in an hour handwritten.
She is super nice, if you have questions about what you are currently learning just ask, her lectures are easy to understand and from the videos she recorded, we could tell she is very passionate about Economics, if you study hard, the tests are not that terrible, it wasn't a heavy workload course.
Professor Wilson is one of my favorite Econ professors if not my favorite! She explains with such enthusiasm you will not get bored at all. She answers questions with full respect to students and does her best to make sure its clear. The difficulty is what was expected, you go to class and take notes and review you'll be solid.
Probably my favorite econ prof yet, she is so enthusiastic and responsive to questions and discussion. The midterms are definitely a time crunch but they match lectures and readings well. I wish we could go into things more specifically but time is tight for lecture so it can make midterms hard to answer fully. Wonderful person, great teacher, take
Class was a pretty easy A, just read and watch videos and you should be fine. The only thing I didn't like about this class initially was that there was a mandatory small group meeting every week and I'm socially anxious as hell so I hated talking. She kind of switched her plans for the group meeting towards the end so we didnt have to present lol
Great professor and class. Really wants us to be able to apply what we learned in class to the real world. I would definitely pay attention to the news articles she talks about in class because they're good examples for exams. Very accessible outside of class and exams are similar to study guide.
Easily my favorite professor Ive had at Davis. Econ isnt my major but she made the class easy to understand. You do need the online textbook to do the homework but the problems look very similar to the exams. There is an hour synchronous zoom meeting a week despite being online but it was my favorite part. Definitely worth taking her!
One of the best professors at Davis! Online due to Corona. 3 exams (60%), lowest dropped, final project (25%). Not hard as most of it comes from hw during semester. Only have to write an introduction and conclusion. Embedded quizzes (5%), class participation 10%. Absolutely awesome class and professor.
Very understanding and caring. Efficient and good class setup. Online due to Corona. Discussion responses (6%), Survey (3%), weekly quizzes (6%), video presentation (10%), 3 exams (75%) lowest dropped. Absolutely awesome class and professor. She cares about the students and is enthusiastic about the subject.
Love the professor, hated the grading. Exams are timed (1hr), PDF upload and very confusing at times. You can have word for word answers to what she said in class and yet still get zero on the question. Worst yet, you can have word for word what she had on answer key and still get zero (arranged differently). Not fair. Great professor otherwise.
Great professor, very enthusiastic, great teaching style, very engaging. The only problem was with the grading. Three exams, one lowest score dropped. Before the final, prof said that there's going to be a curve, so I didn't take the final. Before the final I was A, after final I was B+, no curve at all.
Very organized class. Professor Wilson would provide study sheets for essential points that are really helpful for the exam. One-hour exam is a little tight, but you will get a good grade as long as you are well prepared. TAs are also amazing. Highly recommend taking her class!
Take her if you can! Made me understand everything that was taught in her class. Always so patient when answering questions. The exams are a time crunch but they're fair game and you can typically know what to expect when coming into a test.
Fav prof in UCD! Weekly group work but the lowest score gets dropped. Bc of Rona the lowest exam gets dropped too. Her lectures are so clear and the study sheets are so helpful for the exams! Fair grading
Took her online course with prerecorded videos of her and Prof. Stimmel. Overall not a terrible class. Two problem sets a week plus a discussion post and a handful of lecture videos. Exams are proctored by an outside company; Wilson and TAs are available for synchronous study halls where you can get extra credit.
Insane amount of homework (easy, just painfully long). Felt like I was just learning from another website we had to pay for. Lectures aren't really clear, but it's an easy class. Extra credit and many accessible office hours though. Very nice professor- I just wasn't learning from her but rather that online website we signed up for.
This professor is the best in the whole economics department. She understands student needs so well! Her teaching style is unlike any professor I've had at Davis. Really cares, and wants you to succeed. She has lots of opportunities for growth. Lectures are kinda like a socratic seminar. Asks lots of interesting questions and gets people involved.
Overall had a great experience with this class. Lots of work, but super organized and relatively easy to complete if you put in effort. Tests were straight forward and lots of extra credit opportunity. Also allows you to drop several assignments.
Professor Wilson is a solid pick! She has so much enthusiasm and explains the topics at hand so clearly! There wasn't one point in the quarter where I got tired of her class! Though be warned! This course does have a lot of homework and the exams are proctored through examity but are relatively easy! If you are okay with this, then choose her!
Professor Wilson gives you the key to succeed in her class. As long you complete the assignments on the due date and do what you are supposed to, you should get an A. The lowest of the three exams gets dropped and there is a 5% boost on the grade if you attend all of the study halls. She is enthusiastic, extremely generous, and accommodating!
Prof Wilson is really passionate about her course, and you can definitely see it. She wants you to be successful and is very lenient. Weekly hw and lecture preps, along with discussion posts and lecture videos. A lot of work, but it helps you do well on the midterms (3 midterms 1 dropped).
For the 1AV, you have to purchase Cengage Unlimited. Probably spend around 4 hours a week doing the assignments, lots of stuff is dropped. Also you can get 5% grade boost for free by showing up to "OH". The course itself is moderate difficulty, but if you do all the work and understand it you should succeed.
Professor Wilson was really friendly in study hall and the grading was fair/generous (1 exam dropped along with multiple other assignments dropped) plus the opportunity to boost your grade by 5% by attending study hall/office hours. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 was because of examity when she could've use zoom (examity was too invasive/creepy).
Prof. Wilson is great. I took her asynchronously but her lectures were easy to follow and short. She made the class very easy, in my opinion, and I didn't even have to take the final because my 2 midterms were good enough to not require it. If you take her you'll learn and probably do well.
She made me want to minor in Economics!
Incredibly organized online class. Her office hours were always very helpful.
She is really passionate and energetic when lecturing. Tests are a little tricky. Not because the questions are hard, but because they are all short answer. So, its difficult to make sure to write enough but not too much so that you run out of time. 20-30mins of videos, group discussion, and a few chapters of reading due every week. Not a bad load
TAKE HER CLASS!!! Dr. Wilson is one of the most kind and engaging economics professors I've ever had. Her energy and enthusiasm in teaching this course and her passion towards economics has genuinely made me excited to come to her class every week. I will definitely be signing up for more of her classes in the future!
Easily one of the best professors in the department with clear and entertaining lectures.
Janine has to be one of the most passionate professors Ive ever seen. She genuinely cares about the well being of her students and offers so much of her time and additional resources for everyone to succeed. Memorization is key in the class, but the lectures make this easy. TAs were super helpful and had similar traits to Janine.
Janine is a phenomenal lecturer who presents the information in an engaging way, even relating them to current events. You don't need to read the textbook to do well in this class as long as you pay attention to lecture. Three exams, non-cumulative, weighted 35%, 15%, 10% from your best to worst scores. Try to take her if you can!
One of the best professors at UC Davis. She has the best TA'S and accommodates students really well. Her class is an easy A. Her lectures are interesting and I recommend you go to her class.
Dr. Wilson is very passionate about what she teaches and does her absolute best to make the sheer volume of information digestible. I would say it's good practice to do all the readings and show up to lecture in person as it's easy to fall behind. Wonderful professor overall!
Took ECN001AY winter quarter with Professor Wilson. Very nice lady! You can tell that she enjoys the topics of economics and cares about her students. Test averages aren't that high, a mid 60 for the midterm and a mid 70 for the final. However, you have plenty of other things that can boost your grades. Anyways, take her if you can!
She is a great teacher and it's my second time taking her for an Econ class. I think I'm going to fail because the topic is hard but you really need to make sure you understand the material.
An incredibly well-organized class with solid lectures (prof. Wilson is amazing) and easy to follow material. Genuinely made me enjoy learning about economics. The homework and exams are clear and straightforward. Overall, a solid class, can't recommend it enough.
The Professor is very passionate, but the exam format is too hard for a student does not good at memorizing. Exams are not open notes and all SHORT ANSWERS!!! No lecture slides, she handwrites, and no notes post on Canvas. Prepare to write/type sentences for at least ONE HOUR in TR lec and memorize lecture notes for the exam. TAs are harsh grading.
This is totally a history class. The most difficult part is that her exams are free responses, with no multiple choices questions. Thus, you will definitely not like this class if you are not interested in or majoring in or good at memorizing History. If this class is not your major required class, don't take it for electives, you will regret it!
Professor Wilson is one of the most caring professors at Davis. She understands what students are going through and adjusts to meet their standards. The tests were pretty simple and based heavily on lecture materials, if you study the lectures you'll pass the class. Definitely recommend it, she made learning history interesting.
AMAZING 100/10. My favorite ECN professor of all time. Her classes will be SO awesome if you: - do lecture notes, recordings posted online under "media gallery" right after class so you don't even have to go if you don't want to - do the gradescope participation (literally the easiest thing) - just study notes for exams & you're set! She ROCKS.
Amazing lecture! Professor Wilson is full of passion. Her speech always attract me! The content is clear and explicit. The Assignment has three attempt which is easy to get good grade
The lecture is amazing. The professor is full of passion, her speech is attractive. Assignment has three attempt which is esay to get full points. The test is little bit hard, need to foucs on the lecture
Wilson's a great professor! I took the AY class, which only met once a week, and I loved the format of asynchronous lectures to look back on before exams. Participation technically required, but you can turn in an online version of the lecture assignments each week. 3 midterms & no final, very easy if you review the material a lot. Love this class!
She is SOOO nice and really passionate about what she teaches. The midterms for me were pretty difficult. She's an amazing teacher though
One of the best professors at UC Davis. Is genuinely so passionate about what she teaches and always uploads lectures in the media gallery. While the workload is not TOO heavy, it is also not and "easy A." The tests are a little difficult, but if you take your time to study and actually skim through the textbook you should be fine.
Professor Wilson was fantastic. She gives amazing lectures, has manageable workload, and is overall not too difficult. Her lectures cover all the material, and she sets out a study guide before each exam that lets you know what to study for. Very passionate about econ and teaches in a way you can understand. Very fair and understanding.
Super sweet professor. Only 1 mandatory attendance discussion per week. Lectures are done asynchronously. Exams are very similar to HWs and she also makes notes of key takeaways to study. Drops a lot of the low scores from HWs. Most things are graded on effort/participation. 3 noncumulative exams- 18% each, no final.
Not an econ major nor have I ever taken an econ class (do have a heavy math background though). Professor Wilson was an excellent lecturer and gave HW that reflected the notes. Participation is required but the lowest 6 are dropped. Additionally the 3 exams were straightforward BUT be sure to understand supply/demand, cost curves, and vocabulary.
I am horrible at econ but the professor did very well in making the content easy to understand. Video lectures are very well made and the professor is very considerate. She does not put things on the midterms that she taught that same week. There are only three midterms, no final, and not a lot of homework
A bit overrated but her class is not hard. Lots of homework to balance exams
Was a somewhat challenging class, but she offered many resources both in and out of class. Highly recommend taking her, she was a wonderful professor and made microeconomics very interesting.
Professor Wilson is very passionate about economics and is a very good professor. I highly recommend taking this class. Discussion is optional, but very useful. The reading is about 20 pages per week and you get multiple attempts on the multiple choice homework assignments. If you have to take economics, I would take it with Professor Wilson.
Lovely teacher with great TA's, tests were based exactly on lecture and she told you what to expect. She was accessible outside of class and HW allowed three chances to get questions right. If you just commit to remembering the material as you go and study for a bit before each test, you'll be set. Lectures not mandatory but highly recommended.
awesome professor and extremely caring and wants students to do well. TAs are also very good! the midterms and finals were difficult for me, but make sure to do readings to do well. attendance not mandatory but there is an attendance activity you will be missing points out on if you do not attend lecture.
It was at 8am and I went to almost every single lecture. Each one was genuinely engaging and interesting, so if you get the chance to take a class from her you should just do it.
Great lectures, all concepts make sense when she explains it. She is also very accessible over office hours.
Entertaining lectures if you focus in lecture you can easily get an A. Final was very easy.
Easy class, just essay midterms and final but it was all easy as long as you study the study guide and go to class for notes. If you ever need help go to her OH and she will explain until you get it.
Awesome professor, not many professors can do such a good job at explaining economics Like Prof. Wilson does. Loved her applications to current society readings she would assign each week, helps you understand the material in real world settings. Put the work in and you'll do good, studying the textbook is SUPER helpful too.
Amazing professor + lectures were recorded! There is a participation assignment that needs to be submitted on gradescope every class, but she gives until midnight for those to be turned in so you will still be able to receive credit if you happen to miss class. All exams had the same format so it was clear how the midterms/final were going to look.
she said she does not like curve because what we got is what we deserved. Remember all her study guide seems so not enough for exams. I do not understand how can she get 4.4 out of 5. I chose her because of you who rated too high. All she did in class was write notes and let you copy them. Her handwriting was difficult to read.
Great professor. Lectures were recorded. Weekly MC homework on Canvas that had 3 attempts (lowest dropped). Midterms and finals were pretty easy. Mostly MC and a few short responses. Pay attention to lectures and you will easily get a good grade.
Amazing professor - plz take her! Class consists of 1 online and 1 in-person lecture a week, 3 midterms (highest grade:25%, 2nd:20%, 3rd:15%) no final - 3rd midterm instead. You get a country at the start of the quarter, write a 1 pg essay each week & at the end of the quarter you compile it into a final essay & prez. EC available. Really enjoyed!
An amazing lecturer. Her study guides very clearly point out what is going to show up on exams. The content is simple, and the tests give a chance for extra credit. As long as you understand and can explain some of the relatively simple key concepts you can at least pass.
this class was good! professor wilson is very kind, and the TAs are phenomenal. the TAs are the reason i did well in this class, and their review sessions are lifechanging. there are weekly essays you need to write. the exams are quite difficult and long, so make sure to write fast.
I passed no passed this class because I didn't do great on the first midterm! All of the exams are free response and you really need to recall the exact details and facts from her lectures. I recommend looking over the study guide in advance (did this for final and got an A) and looking over exact answers to those questions at discussions.
would not recommend this class.
The content of the class is really interesting, but she doesn't explain a lot of the underlying logic behind the things she says. As a result the class feels like a class where you just memorize facts instead of understanding the intricacies of policy and finances in developing countries.
Videos/Lectures are straight forward, weekly hw (mcq) and writing assignments(really short assignments) Attendance is mandatory because of participation grade, but is easy. Midterms can be tricky with the wording and multiple choice options. Study daily, you'll get at least a B.
She is an amazing and caring professor and wants everyone to succeed. I didn't believe economics could be interesting until I took her class. She made me enjoy going to her lectures.
Great Professor. Took as a GE as a stem major and super easy and interesting. If you go to class and do the work, you will get an A. She is super accessible out of class, office hours are very helpful, and the TAs are great. Nothing but good things to say about Professor Wilson.
You can tell how much she loves econ -- super passionate in lectures/videos and made it interesting to listen to. 1 lecture/discussion per week & in lecture we just did worksheets w a group the whole time. You have to watch 5-10 online vids before lecture to know how to do the worksheets. 2 midterms, final was during Week 10
Prof Wilson is an amazing professor and made learning econ super fun and applicable. Wilson prefectly ties the material we have learned to economic problems we are currently facing. She is fabulous! There is no final, and 3 midterms.
Professor Wilson is very passionate about economics. Homework consisted of weekly short videos and writing assignments. Class was held once a week where we had to do a worksheet with our assigned group. There were 3 non-cumulative midterms and no final. Overall a great class to take, whether it's for your major or as a GE.
Dr. Wilson is a great lecturer and she is clearly passionate about economics. I found the midterm exams to be moderately difficult. Homework is very easy and the online lectures are clear.
Dr. Wilson truly cares about each of her students, and absolutely loves teaching. Her knowledge and background in economics showed in each of her lectures. With office hours, the help of the amazing TA's, and Dr. Wilson, you can really find success in this class and have fun. I look forwards to taking more classes with Dr. Wilson!
Great professor. Passionate about the subject and very good at teaching econ in an understandable manner. Show up to TA sections to prepare for tests.
I liked her and thought she was a good professor but I struggled with the midterms. There is no final for this class though which is great!
Great professor who is super passionate about econ. Discussions weren't mandatory but were super helpful to prepare for midterms (3 midterms and no final). Midterm FRQs were worded pretty unclearly but MCQ was straightforward. Watch the lecture videos, come to discussion and do the group worksheets and you will be fine.
hybrid class met once per week. discussion optional. designed for people who may have taken microecon in the past. prof passionate about econ and her energy is amazing. homework consisted of small videos and was fairly easy to complete. 3 non cumulative midterms and no final.
The hybrid model was perfect for me, overall difficulty was about average for me. Three midterms and no final, just make sure you take decent notes and come to in-person lectures where she clarifies confusing concepts. If I hadn't bombed the last midterm, I probably would've gotten an A.
The best economics professor at Davis. I encourage you to take her.
Incredible professor. Pretty much what everyone else says
Took both 111A and 115B in the same quarter. Super clear lectures, clear grading criteria. If you show up to class and take notes you will get an A. Wish she taught more upper div courses.
What you talk about in lecture and discussion is what you are tested on. 2 midterms and 1 final. The more study time you do the better you score. TAs also super helpful!
Although the professor does not recommend it, just memorize the whole thing if you want a certain A. Attendance matters a lot, and take notes of everything. No matter what you ask, she will always make sure you feel like you are a valuable student. The TA gives nice reviews of the lecture; highly recommend if you need a catch up.
Super lecture heavy. Must go to lectures to take notes, has grade scope questions every lecture that is graded for participation. Lectures are recorded and grade scope questions are available till midnight after every lecture. Tests are graded with specific keywords. All FRQ. If you're good at memorizing this class will be breeze.
i chose random tags but i decided to make this just because of the new homework thing she makes, its literally 70 problems, and if you get it incorrect you do it over and over again, and she gives 1-2 a week on top of the normal homework.
here's one more
Janine is probably the most caring and awesome professor I have ever met. She is so passionate about what she teaches and is incredibly knowledgable. PLEASE take her if you want to get any ounce of applicable knowledge/Information. She's incredible.
She cannot explain the concept well. I try to avoid her upper level class. In addition , I do not think she can do her job fairly as the undergradraduate program chair for economics. Try to avoid her if you are international student.
Professor Wilson is amazing! She is very kind, and lectures very well. Everything you learn during lecture will be extremely helpful for the exams. Attending discussion section is important. It helped prepare me for the exams a lot. The course is also very interesting. I highly recommend taking ECN 111A with Prof. Wilson!
I don't usually write reviews but Prof. Wilson is genuinely the best professor in Davis. You must take her class. She is so passionate and understanding that it makes the class so interesting.
One of the best professors ever. She's clearly passionate about the subject and her enthusiasm is infectious. shes the besttttt
really good professor
3 midterms -> no final and a bunch of extra credit. Her lectures are great and her midterms are fair. She's clearly passionate about what she teaches. Def take her class if you have the chance.
Amazing professor with passion on teaching, and her exams are straightforward. Also spot light for Claire and Zander, they are the most amazing TA that could ever ask for. Such a caring environment for learning, feel like I went back to high school.
Simply one of the best. If you can take 115B, take it. One of the best courses with one of the best profs.
Great professor! She cares a lot about her students and has endless energy. Her lectures convey the material clearly and concisely, making difficult economic concepts fun and easy to understand! She has been trying out a lot of weird virtual learning things, but overall is still a great professor, makes econ seem simple and relevant, go to OH!
great professor must take her for ecn 1a if you have the chance! the hybrid option is so convenient and if u have taken econ in highschool it's going to be a breeze
Very easy class overall if you actually pay attention to the homework videos/assignments, just be prepared for the last midterm as it is more difficult than the previous two. She is clearly very passionate about teaching and cares for her students.
👍👍👍
I lovedd Prof. Wilson! Microeconomics isn't too hard overall, but the way she explained things made tough concepts much easier. I got an A- but only crammed before midterms, though I kept up with readings and videos. She's not great with email, but super engaged in class, so ask questions there. If you like econ and work hardish, you'll get an A fs
Wilson is an amazing professor & her lectures make knowledge digestible. However, this class isn't for you if you are not good at memorizing. Grade is based on participation, online lecture quizzes, a project that you work on the entire quarter, 3 midterms & NO final. Take advantage of her/TA office hours & study guide if you want to do well!
3 midterms ALL NON-CUMLATIVE! no final. amazing amazing teacher, love her so much. such a big class but still tries to be ur friend. hybrid so 45min-1hr of prerecorded vids then lecture once a week. participation assignments from class but you can do them at home and the paper on gradescope. such a fun and good class, 100%, love her.
Easy material, but a crazy amount of hw, & all due around the weekends. She posted lecture videos online and gave us a worksheet during class to practice, which I think was effective. Her hw assignments were like 50-80 questions bc the website keeps asking questions until u get the concept. The other hw assignments are 15 questions and 3 attempts.
Dr. Wilson is an amazing professor and the hybrid model of this class is efficient. She is very passionate about the subject and has incredible amount of knowledge. TAs are great resource. Go to the class, watch posted lectures, actively take notes and you'll easy get an A. 3 midterms, no surprises. One case study project. Super easy!
Best professor I've had so far at Davis. Clear and engaging lectures that link real life issues to the content. Her office hours are always packed! Gives extra credit, but there's a lot of online homework questions. Would recommend 10/10.
One of the best lecturers I've had. Makes the class super engaging and easy so understand. Course material itself it very easy. Exams are all multiple choice and also very easy. Smartbooks and McGraw hill assignments every week that are kinda time consuming but not difficult.
Professor Wilson is the GOAT!!! She is sooo sweet and available for help, highly reccomend office hours because it is soooo helpful and a great way to talk w her one on one. Overall she cares about her students and actually passionate about economics. Three midterms and a lot of HW and extra credit. If you understand concepts exams are a breeze!
Great professor, her lectures are very engaging. Her notes are very relevant to the test and other assignments. Doesn't give out too much homework. Just make sure to come to class and you should do well!
She's the undergraduate chair so I feel like she's really good at communicating with students. Super fun classes and engaging if you even just skim the readings before class. Even without that I'm sure its good.
Amazing lectures, if someone had a question during lecture, she often answers and further explains to the whole class. Attendance for lectures and discussion are not mandatory. Course is easy if you don't procrastinate. Flexibility, able to work from home as lesson and lecture videos are uploaded to watch at anytime. Easy and very little homework!
Best lecturer in the economics department. Take any course with her if you have the chance.
Dr. Wilson's lecture videos were very enthusiastic and clearly explained concepts very well! Her energy made the content more interesting. You get graded by answering multiple choice questions in the lecture videos, if you pay attention you'll be fine. Her exams are all multiple choice and are nothing too unexpected.
She is so passionate about teaching, and honestly I enjoy watching/attending her lectures.
I personally didn't excel in the class because I'm not that good at writing paragraphs for exams, but she is an amazing lecturer. The class is really interesting however the exams itself can be intense so be prepared. The TA review sessions are a god send.
She is the best econ prof I've had in UCD so far. She is passionate about teaching and cares a lot about her students. I always thought history was boring, but she made it so interesting, just like listening to some stories. Grading is totally fair, and exams are predictable as long as you finish all lectures and TAKE NOTES! Definitely recommend
It's easy, but she makes it more difficult by padding random questions on quizzes from the lecture videos. It was fine, but like, why? She made it more difficult than it needed to be. Overall, great professor with clear enthusiasm and knowledge.
Dr. Wilson is one of the best instructors I've ever had. Lectures are very engaging. Exams are a combination of knowing the topic as well as critical thinking and she will provide tips for how to study for them. She is very caring one-on-one and cares about her students' success. Textbooks are supplemental and she provides pdfs of required readings
The BEST prof ever, very passionate about teaching. Never hestitate to reach out to her, she will help as much as she can. Lectures are clear and easy to understand. Small workload. 3 midterms, you will get a B at least if you reviewed everything, and no finals.
Janine has been the most understanding and easy teacher I've had. She's very sweet and understanding and will accommodate for you whenever needed. Her office hours are fun to attend and she cares deeply for her students. I have never taken Econ but would take it again just to have her as a teacher.
good professor economic history Phil Econ 2017. I took Dr. Clark, Dr. Siegler and Dr. Miessner. I think I missed this one would have loved to take it with Dr. Wilson.
She yells a lot. Vague lectures, but it's important to attend since every detail (except for numbers, but graphs and everything else is) will be on exams. Exam questions are badly written. Just word vomit everything you learned in hopes that something you wrote meets the grading criteria.
Professor Wilson is a very popular econ professor at Davis. She is a great person and teacher. If you are struggling, she would definitely help you out. She gets good ratings for a reason and deserves them.
Super great and passionate about teaching, probably one of the best Econ professors at Davis. The class itself is relatively easy, just watch the videos, take notes, and attend the once a week lectures.
If she is one of your options, I absolutely RECOMMEND taking her. She is so caring and genuinely wants to see you succeed in economics. She's passionate and breaks down material very well. Three midterms, no final exam, but generally no curve. Not the easiest GE out there, but if you want to learn economics, she is the way to go.
Very good professor, passionate about econ without being overbearing. Grade is dependent on exams but they are fair and you get ample study material. Lectures are recorded and attendance isn't mandatory. No group projects, just a few simple assignments. Would take her for every econ class if I could, great lecturer. Get ready to handwrite exams
She's an amazing professor; very articulate and caring. Her exams are not too bad, but there's no curve. No final which was awesome! Prof. Wilson is super passionate about the subject, and this class is VERY fair - doable workload, good lectures (1x/week), engaging videos, and not too much work outside of class. Definitely taking her again!
Took online over summer. Lectures provide all the information and readings are not necessary. 1 zoom lecture and several video lectures with questions embedded. Weekly open-note quizzes. Midterm and final exam allowed for notes to be used (1 page), taken with lockdown browser. She is very caring and wants you to succeed!

Her lectures were good in that most of the in class work was almost exactly what was on the midterms. We were required to, watch online lecture videos, do writing assignments, and one homework assignment every week. The class wasn't too bad, my advice is to not fall behind and actually show up to lecture since she explains things more clearly then.
