Incredibly easy class. Your entire grade is based on two midterms and a final, but he "curves" the grading scale. An A is 81% and up. A B is 66% and up. He does a good job explaining concepts. Attendance isn't mandatory for lecture or discussion. The textbook is not mandatory either, while there is homework - it isn't for credit- you do you.

Gravner is caring, he wants you to succeed. I didn't always understand lecture in person, but lectures are posted on Canvas. Graded off of 2 midterms and 1 final, all extremely similar to the practice exams he posts. TA was late for the final, so he guaranteed grades won't be lower than the average of our midterms. Put in effort and you'll be fine.

Such an AMAZING professor. He's truly passionate about what he teaches and is always willing to answer questions. His lecture slides, and lecture recordings are available online, practice tests are nearly identical to the actual tests. His example problems in lecture cover any possible combination you can think of. And he has a really nice curve!

I definitely recommend Professor Gravner! The class is based off of 2 midterms and the final only but for each exam a practice exam is provided fully worked out and are very similar to the midterm and finals given. Attendance is not mandatory and all lectures are posted right after class ends in the event you can't make it that day. Great curve too

Our grade was based off the 2 midterms + 1 final, so the goal of hw was to practice problems on your own time without the stress of frequent deadlines. Practice exams were nearly identical to the actual ones. Professors like him actually motivate me to learn and even enjoy math, and I generally suck at it. The overall curve was really nice too.

Great professor! He teaches very quickly at the end of the quarter so personally, I had trouble grasping the content. However, course is graded only on 2 midterms + final exam and there is HW, but you don't stress over them since they're given for your benefit of practice. Very clear when it came to the content of the lectures too. Great curve too!

Best math professor at Davis!! TAKE HIS CLASS. Grading curve was amazing. Exams were very very similar to the practice/sample exams. Only went to half the lectures and ended with an A, but also bcz I put in work outside of class. Although I do still recommend going to lecture for personal benefit and to not fall behind. You get what you put in.

My whole grade was exams, resulted in not a lot of work done outside of class. Homework was offered but optional. Wanted his students to succeed and that was reflected in his exams. Seemed very nice and wholesomely enthusiastic about teaching.

Professor Gravner is so nice. The grading method is clearly introduced at the beginning of the quarter, and it only has to do with tests - no homework or discussion scores involved. The lecture is clear although the pace is a little bit fast. Spend time studying and you'll be fine. Please take his class anyway!

Grades are only based on 2 midterms and 1 final, but his practice finals/midterms are word for word what he puts on the exams.. with different numbers of course. He is very clear about what we need to know and what we should study. Lectures are recorded and textbook problems are provided for practice but aren't mandatory. Take him if you can!

Prof. Gravner is SO GOOD. His lectures are clear and he is a funny guy. His office hours are also awesome when stuck on the (optional!) homework. Show up early, though, since it gets pretty crowded. Your entire grade is made up of 3 exams (2 midterms, 1 final), but the final curve is very generous, with an 81+ being an A.

Professor Gravner is GREAT. I only had to take this calculus class during my time here at Davis, and he is amazing. 3 exams (2 midterms, 1 final) and his practice exams practically reflect what will be on the actual exam. Generous curve with 81% being an A. His lectures are very valuable and he's a funny guy sometimes. Overall, take him if you can

Gravner is fantastic. His lectures were clear, and relevant to exams. The grading is based on 2 midterms and a final. The midterms were a bit tougher than the practice exams but had no surprises. The final was much tougher but the class has a very generous curve. Expectations are very clear while the class is exam-heavy, they are more than fair.

Fall 23 - Super straightforward - 2 MTs (25% of grade each) and 1 Final (50% of grade). HW is not mandatory but is encouraged to do. Example tests are extremely similar to actual tests. imo, grading was super generous. Lectures are recorded (however sometimes the cameraman is unreliable so I encourage u to go to lecture). Prof is rly funny & nice!

Gravner is the best, if you put in the time to do his practice midterms the actual midterms look identical. The only difficult thing about this class is the final is significantly harder and a lot longer than the 2 midterms. Also has a very lenient grading curve, would definitely take again.

Gravner is a very comprehensible and transparent professor. His lectures are clear, thorough, and he gives a plethora of examples to refer to. His class is 100% test-based (2 midterms and a final) where the problems are a bit hard, but his lecture material and practice exams prepare students accordingly. He's the goat.

Prof Gravner loves what he does and is good at it. Lectures were fairly easily to understand, but even if you didn't understand the concept it was still enjoyable to just listen to him lecture because of how enthusiastic he is. Prof is open to questions and will take the time to help students understand. No hw, 2 exams + final. Great prof!
