She says about herself that she can be “the B word.” If you take her class, you follow her rules, and you’ll make an “A.” If you don’t follow her rules, it gets ugly. She’s probably the least painful option for non-music majors taking “music appreciation.”

her class is real easy if you already have any background in music. it is still easy if you dont you just will have to attend every day and pay attention. she gets to the point and always ask if u understand and is willing to repeat herself. she very funny and she doesnt care if u attend if u know the material.

i took 4 semesters of piano with her, and this class can be either easy or hard. it depends how much you practice. it also depends if you are a music major or not. if your not then she will be real east on you. also if you dont practice, and it shows, then she will tell you that you suck. she wont hold back!. but shes an awesoem teacher!

need to show up for class because she gives you all the information you need. dont need book. she can be funny but it's weird at times. exams are pretty easy if youve been to class and final is cumulative, and she's nice about you adding late, i added on the last day

Ms.Livingston is very straight forward and fair teacher but you must be a serious student. This is not an easy class and you need to pay attention and use the outline that is on the board. If you do what she tells you to do you should get a good grade.

I really enjoyed this class,Livingston is very helpful and passionate about what she does and makes it fun! The only warning I would have about this class is the Final was harder that I thought it would be. The fun part was that we got to watch music videos for half the class every week!

Attendance is important! You dont need the book, so dont even bother buying it. The entire class relies on what she says. If she sees you trying to understand, participating, and attending class constantly she might cut you some slack if you dont understand something. If youre a slacker, dont even bother thinking you'll get the same treatment

She cares about her students only if they participate and try to understand the material in class. No homework. Reviews sometimes for tests. Helps hardworking students out during tests with hints. Just follow outline she gives to get an A. Have a notebook to keep notes of music listened to in class. Final is worth 50%, tests 40%, notebook 10%.

Loved History of R&R. Usually the class is half lecture, half video. If you want to pass, just participate and make sure she sees you trying,she'll give you study guides for the tests and tell you what to expect on the final (but study for it!) Also, don't buy the textbook! She gives you notes outlines, ask ?s if there's something she didn't cover.

She's an awesome professor and she explains things well. I came into the class thinking it was going to be an easy A but you have to work for it. This class teaches you the ins & out of Rock & Roll and you leave the class with a certain appreciation for it. Difficult class but awesome professor, 10/10 would take again

If you're a music major the piano classes are hard. But she really prepares us for the piano audition. She was very helpful to me.

took her accelerated summer class and we got a test every week plus a final. pay attention to what is being said in class and ask questions if youre confused! i think her class would have been a lot easier if it wasnt sped up. during the final, one student just got up and left. dont take her if you think you cant handle it

Mrs. Livingston is an awesome instructor. If you show up and do your best, she will do whatever she can to help you succeed and she really wants you to do well in her class. Try to be punctual and on time to her class and definitely don't skip class! She will notice and remember you if you're a slacker!

Had Ms. Janine for History of Rock n Roll she's the best professor I've ever had. She knows her stuff and makes the lectures fun and informative. Attendance is mandatory and no late work. She prints out outlines for every class to make it easier to engage and take notes during lecture. Shows videos too. Quizzes are graded in class. Best class ever.

I took her for my summer session which was only 5weeks and let alone this class being difficult she was very clear and funny. She gives reviews and literally gives you a review-> the answers on the test. Show up and actually study and shell do her best to help you pass! If you care she will care as well! Professor Livingston is a great professor. You don't really need the textbook because she gives outlines of what she teaches. She reviews the answers to the tests. There are 4 tests, a written and a listening final. You have to do a journal and 2 concert reports. She might be intimidating at first but then she's really nice if you're not a slacker.

You don't need the book, you don't have to attend the zoom meetings, and you don't even really need to study for anything, she uploads the exams to the "Files" tab on canvas like months in advance and all the answers are in the lecture notes/google, seriously, you'd have to be an idiot and really try hard not to get an A.

This class was awesome. I loved Mrs J. She was the best. I took the winter intercession 5 week class. You gotta do the assignments and show up for the lectures, and you will pass. She has great outlines for the class that help you take notes. She makes the lectures funny and relatable. I would definitely love to have her again in the future.

Professor Livingston was funny and informative, and this class was much more work then I thought. Everything she says on the lectures are in the notes so the test are pretty simple if you take notes and grasp the concepts of music. Consist of five exams and journal entries. Simple class, but you got to actually put the work into it.

She is a good and nice professor but music class is challenging especially with reading notes and a clapping test so if you dont wanna read music notes then dont take music 101.

Prof is very kind and it is easy to follow along. I never played piano until i took her class and i recommend her to any beginner.

Professor Livingston is a very nice person and has a sense of humor. She makes the class very exciting. Most of the time, you write notes on what she talks about and the songs we listen to. From time to time, you would watch documentaries on watch genre she lectures on. Tests are really difficult if you don't study so make sure to study.

Amazing class overall and easy to pass. Make sure to take notes during the lecture as what she mentions is usually on the test. No homework just based on tests and journals. I would suggest recording the lecture to have clear notes for tests. She is engaging with the class.

I took this as a summer class, so participation was daily! It was a lot of note-taking. There was a lot of time spent on early music like classical music and operas. By the time we got to slave music, steel guitar, and rock, it felt rushed. I would take another class if needed, but would probably do it in person. Online music is harder.

Your Grade will depend on the tests only. She has an outline for this class but... She doesn't go by the outline exactly, you have to be lucky you hear what she says or else if you miss something you're going to have to ask her. Otherwise, she's really outspoken and funny and if your attenuative and present she'll give you answers for the test
