Great teacher!

Jared's passion for teaching is extremely inspiring. He is fair and kind to every single person in his classroom. However, he is a bit of a tough grader, and the busy work starts to feel never-ending towards the end. Despite all of that, I recommend Jared for ENG102 if your goal is to actually learn a thing or two about the English language.

Professor Jared Aragona has got to be one of my favorite professors I've had coming in this year as a freshman. He always answers questions and makes sure you understand his grading methods. I wish he taught english 102!

I had him for english 101 and let me tell you that, by far, he was my favorite instructor. He grades somewhat hard, but he leaves a lot of commentary to guide you in the right direction. He's very funny and knows how to keep the classroom alive. I'd definitely recommend him to others.

Awesome teacher. ENG 102 was super easy with him, very few papers and the final doesn't count against your grade! No expensive textbook needed. Instead he has you subscribe to a few weeks of a magazine called The Week so you write about current events in the world. also group debates every few weeks its fun. great class!

This class was so great that I never minded him accidently going over the class time! Oh and tests, they were totally fine, to the point and fair.

Not an easy class (mythology) TONS of homework between online and in-class (reading material). Very fast paced but he is a fantastic speaker and always goes over the stories you read clearly and enthusiastically. Knows his material and actually is an author too. I love him/his personality and lectures he's an amazing teacher!(also taking ENG102)=)

This prof is really easy going. He has a great attitude and plenty of feedback, however, he won't hold students' hands if they make grammar mistakes. He's very direct and clear, but he's not intimidating and he's a great teacher. Try to get him if you can. Highly recommend.

I had Jared for Mythology and I seriously fell in love! He is definitely one of the best guy teachers I have ever had. He made class enjoyable and fun and was always able to answer questions. I really wanted to take one of his english classes, but it never worked out :/ But nonetheless, he is fabulous!

Jared is FANTASTIC! His lectures are interesting and the information is useful! Make sure to study for the midterm and final, his jeopardy doesn't cover it all but overall his class was fun and fairly easy as long as you do the reading/homework and come to class! He is very nice and willing to talk to you and help you with any questions you have!

This is my second creative writing class by Dr. Aragona. I idn’t know what to expect when I signed up for the first class, but I fell in love with creative writing. Dr. Aragona makes learning such a pleasure. He has an outstanding personality, professional writing experience to answer your “real world” questions, and he is extremely encouraging.

This professor is amazing. You can tell that he's very passionate about what he teaches and that alone makes it easy to be engaged and willing to learn. I took his mythology class and it was very intriquing, he's the kind of teacher that cares about his students - he takes the time to go through our online hw and gives thoughtful/helpful responses

The work load is high, and the material can get a bit confusing but Jared does an amazing job at presenting it!! He makes it interesting. As long as you attend class, and read the text you'll do great in his class! He requires you to put some elbow grease into your education which isn't a bad thing. Just read and attend class, he's such a nice guy!

Outstanding professor. Clearly shows a genuine interest in the subject as well as a student's progress. Just do your work, and make sure to complete all of your peer-reviews. Actually kinda sad I won't be taking any other classes from him. Great individual and a fantastic professor.

This ENG101 class was half online and half in class (hybrid). Mr. Aragona is a good teacher that is always willing to help when he can. He is a little hard on grading and class is somewhat difficult. But if you do your work and show up to class it is very passible.

The best classes i had (071,081,091,101). I hated the school all my life but Jared made it so easy and fun , best teacher. I will miss his classes.

Dr. A is such an amazing teacher. Had him for ENG 091 ENG 101 and going to take ENG 202 with him. He is really helpful with any problems you may have with writing an essay. Defiantly would recommend him to take his class.

Great way to learn how to write. With the PIE Paragraphs, your thoughts are clear and coherent and helps you avoid digression. Highly suggest others to take his class if you have trouble organizing your thoughts or if you just have trouble in English in general.

Best professor I've ever had! Mr. Aragona was down to earth, loved to chat after class, and would help you in any way he could. He wanted everyone to pass the class, so he gave us potential essay questions for the test and did Jeopardy-themed games (the Jeopardy answers are NOT on the test, but were helpful!) Plus, the class was interesting!!!!!

Great course, very interesting subject. Can take for credit no matter which degree you're going for since it applies for humanities. Everything he talks about in class, gets put online, so it is easy to review and study. Loved all the different myths are super interesting but you HAVE to keep up with the reading!

I loved taking Jared Aragona's mythology class! I had a ton of fun learning all the mythologies! I would definitely take the class and recommend it to other people. He is very helpful and wants you to do really well in his class. It is pretty obvious he loves teaching it and that it's his passion.

His lectures and handouts are really good, and in the class participation exercises you learn even more. He's extremely fair and gives good feedback on your essays. Writing has always been a struggle for me, but I'm a lot better at it after taking his ENG081, ENG091 and ENG101. He also makes it fun to learn.

I was in Dr. Aragona's 8-week Eng 091 and 101 last semester and he was extremely fair in his grading. He can tell you why every point was taken off. He even let me get points back for mistakes. Having been in that class, I can tell exactly who wrote those Poor posts -- not credible. He does make you show you understand all sides of an issue.

This is a fun and enjoyable class. I did take it fully online and would have been happy to take it "in class" if I could. Professor Aragona is an awesome teacher. He gave feedback to pretty much every individual post with helpful insight.

I'm graduating from Gateway Community College and I took Jared Aragona many semesters ago but i will forever be grateful for his helpfulness. He really enjoys his students succeeding, doing well, and answering questions. It's very emotional moving on to a university without remembering how far i've come and i thank this professor for helping me.

This class has a lot of material being covered. All of it is interesting and Jared knows everything you need to know. As long as you participate and get the work done on time, there's no reason not to pass. He opens up all the portals, so its easy to get ahead. Definitely would take this class again to dive deeper into other myths.

Really loved this class. Very easy, very informative. If you love any kind of mythology, and love reading about mythology this is a very easy class. The only thing I didn't like were the discussion boards but they were easy, too.

Jared is a great professor! I took his online summer class and it was 8 weeks long. You will easily get an A if you work hard. There is a lot of reading and about 5 lessons each week. Discussion board questions weigh your grade heavily so write effective responses. Also, there is a final project which is 20% of your grade. Definitely recommend.

Jared is a really good teacher. Really enjoyed his style and advice, since he's been published. He gives amazing, detailed feedback, and is very approachable. 2 draft and one final submissions. Pace out the workload (reading and reviewing other people's drafts) like you're supposed to (about 4 on a weekly basis), & you'll get a good grade.

Jared is great! Lectures are informative and interesting. Workload is pretty much the same each week.

Dr. Aragona is professional and articulate. He is always willing to help students both in and out of the classroom. He's quick to respond to emails. As long as you do your work efficiently you'll have no problems passing, but he makes you work for it. There are opportunities to fix your grade by doing minor assignments to correct your deficiencies.

I felt the classes and books were well thought out. He knows his stuff and it shows. Enjoyed the class very much

He is highly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the material in this course. He takes the time to respond to each student's responses in the discussion boards and gives useful feedback. Even though this course was online he was able to facilitate a positive connection between the students and the instructor.

Jared really loves what he teaches, and it makes you want to listen to his lectures. There are weekly assignments online to make sure you're analyzing the material for a deeper meaning. I recommend his class to anyone who actually wants to take away valuable lessons from their courses, and not just to receive credits.

Best Teacher EVER! The class isn't the easiest, but it is really interesting and Dr. Aragona really takes the time to teach. Online lectures (never seen that before from an online class) make it the same as an in-person class. Mindtesters each week were easy, discussions were interesting. Awesome class for anyone who likes history or storytelling.

I havent been in school in 14 years so I was pretty nervous to see what level my writing was at. Honestly, he really is great teacher. Of course, I really tried and put effort into the class. Dont plan on passing if you dont try. I genuinely feel far more confident about my writing and I will take 102 with him as well.

Really great class that dives into works of American literature before 1860. Although there is a great deal of reading, it's worth the time you put into it, and the pieces you read are interesting for sure. Dr. J is a great teacher who facilitates a great online learning environment. His online lectures are great too, and the book is free!

I took the hybrid 102 course and that is the only reason it was lecture heavy. He has to pack a weeks worth of material in one day. Write 2 big papers. Nothing too crazy. the final essay is 7-10 pages long, but each week leading up is a step in writing it so it is super laid out when crunch times comes. Awesome teacher. Likes to engage students

Coming into this class it had been about a year and a half since I took an English class and I felt that Jared was able to guide me. I highly recommend for an English class. However, If I hadn't missed as many days as I did I believe I could've received a better grade.

I took Mr. Aragona's online course and I loved it. There was a lot of reading, however it'a Mythology so what do you expect? Course content was amazing. Incredible stories and lots of information. Very amazing teacher! I loved his class and plan to work his other one into my fall semester. I thought this class was easy compared to other 8-week courses so I'm not sure why there is a large difficulty rating associated with this class perhaps its the reading, you read 4-5 myths a week usually they are 2-5 pages per myth but some can be large.

Super easy class as long as you do the work and the work really is not that bad. Jared's really helpful if you reach out to him for anything and he gives good feedback in discussions! The video lectures make the class so much more interesting and easier to get through rather than just a ton of reading.

The professor's online lectures are easy to follow, in simple language and he's not a fast talker. I found these very helpful. The discussion topics gives everyone a chance to form their ideas about the same material. I learned a lot this way. Every lesson was structured the same way, so it was organized. Professor Jared Aragona is an amazing professor. Going into the class, I was under the impression that the weekly quizzes and discussion boards would be a lot of work, but it was quiet the opposite. He is always quick to respond to you via email and always comments back on your discussion boards with insightful information. I loved this class!

I have taken ENG 102 a couple of times because I was never the best with writing essays. He is different, hes caring, charismatic, and willing to help students to ends that I have never seen. The homework is in place to help with your essays that you need to submit. If you are looking for an english class this is the one to take.

Prof. Aragona is one of the best English teachers I have ever had. In every in-person class session, he brought so much energy which resulted in every student in the class to be enthusiastic about learning. I have become a better writer throughout the class. He will make you work for your grade but gives great feedback that'll help you succeed.

Aragona is great. However, most of his feedback comes very general. It's hard to get very specific notes on which direction to go with your writing. If you struggle a lot with papers, his class may not be for you. He always grades assignments VERY promptly and returns email quickly as well. He utilizes peer reviews which I'm not of fan of.

I took ENH 251 online and there was a lot of work. It is not an easy class as there is a lot of reading and discussions to do weekly however, he is truly a compassionate professor and is willing to help you in any way whether its submitting assignments late or doing extra credit work. He truly wants all his students to pass and is easily reachable.

Prof Aragona is amazing. He was willing to work with me and be considered my honors class. He responds to all emails in a decent time, attempts to respond to all discussion comments, and is extremely nice! This class was a blast to take and more interesting / fun than I expected when I first signed up.

Professor Aragona is an amazing professor, truly a breath of fresh air. His assignments are a normal difficulty, but he provides lectures that help explain them. He emails back quickly and he goes in depth with the expectations of the class. The APEX paper seems intimidating, but his methods of teaching and helping through it make it easy to get.

Dr. Jared is super knowledgeable and you will learn a great deal from his class. There are a TON of discussion boards, many chapters to read and quizzes each week. He is a fair grader. I have learned a lot from his class, and while I would prefer less discussion boards, it made me really read the material to answer the questions he was presenting.

Start of this year was tough as my family suffered from Covid-19 sickness and loss. Dr. Aragona was kind and understanding throughout. He's great with feedback on your papers and offers a Master list on English that was so helpful this semester. I'd take another course with him.

I had an amazing summer term with Professor Aragona. His feedback is always constructive and he is easy to reach for assistance. There was a lot of reading and almost daily discussion boards and quizzes, but as long as you put some thought into your work and give the effort, you are almost guaranteed a good grade.

This was seriously my favorite class I have taken at SCC. Professor Aragona is an outstanding teacher and I am not just saying that! I think I learned a lot more about life, cultures, and many other topics that I didn't expect to learn about in this course which made it very fun and relatable. This class was so fun it didn't even feel like a class.

I loved taking ENH241! It's a great class and if you love reading then I totally recommend it. Dr. Aragona is an incredibly fair grader with clear criteria on how you will be graded. If you apply yourself and do the readings, you're likely to pass with a good standing grade.

Love this guy! He's definitely a mythology expert and it's obvious he loves the topic. Lots of work, but not unreasonable. I think he wants to prove that Mythology is not a blow-off class for an easy grade. The way he teaches, it's not! But I learned a lot.

If you have any interest in early American history &/or early literature, this course is a really great way to study that from a more unique perspective than you might get from a history class. Loved this class. He was amazing and with all my extra questions he didn't seem to mind and even encouraged them. This class was very lecture heavy with a lot of material and it did take a little while to get used to his style of class and the amount of information, but if you truly enjoy mythology you would love the class.

One of the few professors I've had whose lectures were interesting. He's very respectful and mindful of students' opinions and doesn't discredit them. If you miss a lecture he usually has them posted online. The assignments are fairly easy if you do the reading. Knew nothing about mythology, but learned a lot from this course.

Dr. Jared Aragona is one of the best college professors I have ever had. He gives detailed feedback on all assignments, responds to emails quickly and encourages you to do the best you can. All essays and short assignments are graded fairly, and he provides amazing resources for you to expand your writing skills.

Jared Aragona is great, he provides stellar feedback and is willing to work with you on deadlines. I submitted a few assignments shortly after the midnight deadline and he chose not to remove points for submitting late. I wish he could be my English teacher for the rest of my degree.

Professor Aragona was always clear and respectful. When I started the class, I didn't know how to do what he was asking. Now, however, I feel I can tackle any writing assignment given by any professor! I would definitely take other classes offered by him!

Please try this class. Amazing feedback and is a very understanding professor. With my class format, attendance was optional, all classwork was online, and no textbook fees. But I'm glad I went to the in-person classes! Lectures are funny and valuable. Make sure to communicate your needs; as long as you try he is extremely fair and caring. 10/10.

Took two online classes with him, very well laid out and able to get stuff done early. Lectures were easy to follow and contained good and detailed information. Overall a great experience.

The professor not only made lessons interesting, but had a lot to say regarding a wealth of the course material. He was an expert in many things, and was always able to answer questions with explicit detail about the stories. It's very obvious he knew the content extremely well, and always made time to talk to students, and speak to their concerns.

This class is a blast to take and for someone who is figuring out what they want to major in, this helped me realize my potential in certain aspects.

The professor had a great structured education plan. Made sure everyone got the help they needed. Grading feedback was perfect for the development of my learning. I would happily take another class.

Very nice, insightful and has a great course plan that is easy to follow. Very strict on grammar, takes a few assignments to get the hang on what he is looking for, relied heavily on Grammarly to pass. Opportunities to skip assignments and earn back points on assignments. Time intensive but great prof. & class

He is an incredible professor. I had him for Mythology, ENG 101, and plan to take another course with him. His grading and comments are genuinely helpful and I truly feel that I came out a better writer. He is kind and very willing to help you when needed so long as you reach out to him. He wants to help you!!! I couldn't recommend him more.

I took the online only course, so I only had the narrated power points. The professors lectures were informative, and very interesting. His passion and knowledge for the material is very clear and makes it very easy to follow. Some of the myths are complicated, but his lectures broke them down to make them easier to understand. I loved the course!

He was very kind in allowing late work.

The instructor was very helpful and accommodating with anything I needed. He shows true passion for the subject he teaches and is great at engaging the class. I highly recommend his course if you are interested in any anthropological subject.

Professor Aragona is one of the best professors I have had at Scottsdale Community College. He does well to work with students on understanding the content and is very clear with what he expects of you. As long as you put in the work it's not difficult to get an A. The tests are much harder than the rest of the coursework, prepare well.

I took the 8-week version of this class totally online. This was one of the most interesting classes I have had to opportunity to be a part of, and I would definitely recommend.

He was easy to communicate with and always optimistic about questions, concerns, and feedback on course material. I was amazed at how quickly he graded and the resourceful material he provided. I highly recommend his courses if you want to improve your writing skills. I feel lucky to have had him as an instructor.

Best professor I've ever had, especially in an online course! His lecture videos make the class really easy to follow and his feedback is priceless. He tells you exactly what you need to do to improve your writing, and therefore pass the class! Love this professor and highly recommend taking his class!

Dr. Aragona's ENG 101 course is the best English course I have ever taken. His feedback on my essays has been immensely valuable because I feel he actually takes the time to read them. It is clear he's passionate about English and genuinely cares about his students' success. He is very responsive to emails and grades assignments in a timely manner.

Jared Aragona is by far the best professor I have ever had. I have taken four of his classes now because of how amazing of a teacher he is. He is very understanding and is flexible about assignments in the class. His lectures are very informational and with help you so much to succeed in his courses. He has helped me to learn so much!

Jared is one of the best professors I've had at SCC. He makes his classes interesting and fun, and you always walk away feeling like you've actually learned something. The coursework isn't overwhelming, and as long as you pay attention and complete the assignments, it's an easy A. I highly recommend taking his classes!

He's fair and of you like mythology, this class will be fun. The information is presented in a very digestible way and the class is not stressful.

Amazing professor. Cannot say enough good things about him. He is caring, lenient, responds quickly, and a very very fair grader. Extra credit is offered. There is 1-2 discussion posts due each week (for the 8 week course) but they are very easy to complete. I HIGHLY recommend.

Excellent professor! I didn't know much about mythology before taking this course but his enthusiasm really made the material engaging and relevant. Dr. Aragona is a wealth of knowledge and this is definitely a worthwhile course to take (and one that will stick with you), regardless of what your major is.

More than anything, he's a good soul. He's genuinely happy to be teaching his students and whether discussing coursework or otherwise is a kind guy. The homework load is manageable, as are the tests, and much of the class is just reading and discussing myths with him and other classmates. I can't recommend him enough.

This is the second time I've had Jared as my professor. He's an excellent teacher, and I highly recommend taking a course with him!

An Amazing Teacher Overall! Absolutely Loved His Class And How He Taught And Engaged With The Students During Discussions. Was Very Informative And Fun!

I took his online class in the fall, and it was really easy. There is a lot of reading, but it's manageable. Each week, you have to read 2 chapters, and then there are two quizzes and a discussion for them. there is also "Anthology Intro Assignment -- 15% of Course Grade". You can use your notes for the exams.
