Prof. Simard is sweet, funny, and a super helpful professor. Sometimes he can be a little scatterbrained and go off on tangents, but at least there's never a dull moment! He's pretty patient when you don't get it and doesn't ask too much of you. Awesome prof! I highly recommend him.

Professor is entertaining to say the least. He's always full of energy, class is not only fun to attend but helps a lot towards your grade. He wants everyone in the class to do well but there is work, just put in a few hours before each quiz, do the homework properly!!! can't stress that enough, and you'll get an A no sweat.

Prof. Simard teaches Classic Mythology 101. He can be picky, but not overly so. His class is fun. I think it's his own love for the classical gods and heros, and his passion for the material that inspire you to actually want to go to class and do the work. Plus, you get to write yout own myth which is fun.

Before going to this class i thought this would b another boring course in greek & latin roots, but i was TOTALLY wrong. Best class ever. Simard made this class fun and interesting. Most of the material is in the textbook. There are quizzes every two weeks or so, plus the final which is similar to the quizzes. They're fairly easy if you study what he tells you to. He's such a cutie and hes funny! I highly recommend him. And the class itself helps you in life more than you think.

overall easy professor. go to class and take notes about each story that was read. 1 paper, 1 quiz and 1 final. paper was easy, create your own myth. quiz was on identifying characters in stories through use of photos, sort of difficult but manageable. final was difficult so make sure you study. overall easy A if you listen in class and take notes

Awesome professor! He is funny, lively, and happy most of the time and is easygoing with the material. The material can get overwhelming when studying for the multiple quizzes and doing the homework. If the effort is given, you will definitely get an A.

Jared is definitely my FAVORITE professor :) He's one of the few professors who can keep the entire class awake at 8 A.M. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

When I came into the class I couldn't help but fall for his hair and speech pattern. He is REALLY good at making sure you remember and understand everything. He is super helpful if you are having a problem, personal or otherwise. Warnings before quizzes make the tests easier than pie. so long as you do the HW an A can be assured.Young and vibrant.

Take his class. Any class he is teaching- do yourself a favor and take it. He's the kind of professor that makes you understand what a true professor should be. He's young and fresh and knows how to engage a class! We had 5 quizzes and homework assignments. There's lots of memorization, but that's expected for any CLA 110 class, so do yourself a favor and take him! He is hilarious, intelligent, and extremely approachable.

Seriously, what hasn't already been said? Prof. Simard is so animated and knowledgeable. He takes the time to learn everybody's name and is probably one of the most humane professors at Hunter. He is also a health nut. There's a little reading to do, but other than that, there is virtually no work.

If you need a morning class, take him - you won't dread the class. Make sure to write down the example words he gives during class - usually pops up in the quizzes.

I really wasn't sure what the class was going to be like when I first decided to take it. Simard ended up being an amazing professor. He always makes you smile and keeps the subject light and interesting. I have an extreme interest in mythology now thanks to him. I was always excited to do his readings and the paper.

What I loved about his class was the fact that he was always energetic and excited while teaching Latin - it's nice to see a professor care about the field. I feel like he lacked some fluidity since this was his first year teaching the course, but that's okay - study the chapters and remember your subjunctives, or they'll come back to haunt you!

I would find it extremely hard to not like this professor, he's awesome. I just had my last class with him today and I really hate that won't be teaching Roman Civilization in the fall (my last semester). Definitely the BEST professor in the Classics department. You'll love his class and you'll love him too!

This is an informative course for anyone who hasn't had any exposure to Classical Mythology. Prof. Simard is helpful and approachable after class/during office hours. His enthusiasm rubs off on nearly all of his students; I'm not one to normally post here but I went through a series of CAPTCHAs only because I strongly recommend taking his course.

One of the first things he asked my class was how many of us had looked him up on here. He's hilarious, really helpful, and loves what he teaches. I personally found him the slightest bit intimidating, he's just always so...peppy. Overall I highly recommend his class.

Amazing professor, super cool and lax, go to class and make sure you know your grammar really well or else learning Latin is going to be a pain. Other than that he explains his chapters but it's more hard work on your part for grammar. As for sentence syntax ask a load of questions! Good luck!

Such a wonderful professor, never fails to make me laugh. Keeps the class interesting by relating class material to real life situations. Quizzes are straight forward and are designed to help you learn the subject. I refrain from taking a professor more than once but Prof Simard is definitely an exception.

He is a great professor, young but quite knowledgeable when it comes to talking about Roman life and all. He talks to the class as a whole, expresses his feelings, is very straightforward. His lectures and readings were interesting, and quizzes/exams were easy since he provides a review sheet as well, mostly terms and important people, no dates.

He's HILARIOUS. He memorizes your face+name so you have to go to class. There are quizzes but they're all reasonable. Do the hw, go to class, and you'll ace the quizzes. He's really enthusiastic about every class he teaches (he also teachers Myth + Roman Civ + Latin I). He goes off on a lot of tangents but they're usually funny or profound.

He's by far the most enthusiastic prof. I've had. Funny, knowledgeable, engaging, helpful - the list can go on and on. There's never a dull moment in his class. Do the hw & pay attention in class and the quizzes will be easy. Always gives chances for extra credit! I look forward to taking another course with him this summer (CLA 101).

By far one of the most humorous professors I had in Hunter. I took the class to fulfill the W requirement and thought I made a huge mistake after the first day, but boy, was I wrong. There are no midterms/finals, only quizzes, and he is beyond lenient when it comes to grading. Just do your part and you will get the grade you anticipate.

This is my second time taking a class with Professor Simard. He's absolutely AMAZING! He loves what he teaches. No midterm/final, BUT a couple of quizzes, 1 creative writing assignment, 1 test on pictures of artwork shown in previous classes, and 1 project. It may seem like a lot, but they are easy and he is so lenient!

I walked into Prof. Simard's class without any knowledge of Greek mythology but was instantly captivated by it. He is a very good story teller and he always inserts bits of humor here and there to keep it light. There is almost no homework except for short story readings. Only two quizzes (easy) and one picture ID exam (also pretty easy).

he's really funny and can tell the myths in a way that it will be etched into your memory. So, no, i didn't even touch the textbooks. he's just that good! He's an amazing professor and explains very well. 2 quizzes, one pic ID exam (name a character in the picture), 1 creative writing assignment (2-3 pages).

Great teacher. Sassy and always brings the class to life. Doesn't particularly like the TB so he gives out his own work sheets which are very helpful. BUBBLY and CUTE. and he rants but it's like, hilarious ranting. Latin is already a really hard subject to learn but he is THERE FOR YOU with his own handy dandy worksheets, he gives out links he believes can help make study time easier, he knows his stuff about the Romans so there is always fun side stories 2 hear that relates to the language.

I took this class about 2 yrs ago in the summer & up to date prof. Simard is my favorite prof. & classical myth, my favorite class. I wish the CUNY system had more prof. like him! Lord knows they're in desperate need of it. Prof. simard will have any person looking forward to his class. He is pro-student. Everyone needs to take him at least once!

Jared is such an amazing professor. Even though his classes are in the evening, they don't drag along. He makes everything interesting and really puts in the effort in order for us to understand the material better! He will always answer questions and reply to emails really quickly. I took the class online for Spring and it was the first time offered online. There was a midterm, final & two quizzes. He's very accessible via email, but the class isn't effortless. You have to do work each week & participate in discussion boards on BB. Reading materials are essential so buy the books. Overall not an entirely horrifying course!

Prof. Simard is simply amazing! Took him for the summer and it's an easy A. Don't take it just for that though! Take it because it's very interesting! It's a 6 week course with discussion posts almost every day and readings every other day but it isn't a lot of work! 2 quizzes, one paper, a final picture ID exam, and final project! The best prof!

Took him Summer 2017 Online. Excellent teacher, knows what he's talking about. Extra Credit offered + the last test has a whopping 32 points of extra credit (it's art based so you really gotta study). The discussion posts/ journals were annoyingly everyday - but it takes an hour to do which is so much better than 3 hrs of class + commute...

Do the work, participate in online discussions, listen to the videos. Simple clear instructions given out by the professor, reach out to him if you have any problems he is very helpful and understanding. Easy online class.

Prof Simard is such a great lecturer and is very understanding. He is clear about what he wants for assignments and I have learned a lot in this 6 week online class. Weekly discussion, padlet post, journal entry. 2 exams, 1 paper, and 1 project. Easy A

It was an online summer course to fulfill a requirement, but it was actually really enjoyable. It focuses on Greco-Roman mythology and the readings are interesting. Lots of padlet posts and discussion posts, but workload is not that heavy. Definitely recommend if you need to fill that requirement.

Literally my favorite Professor ever and I've been to three different colleges! He's amazing and everything you could want in a teacher. Utilize the textbook and pay attention during lectures (which isn't hard to do because Simard is so engaging). Also, this course is great for any major you're pursuing especially for science and education majors.

Dr. Simard definitely deserves a 5/5. He is clearly passionate about classical mythology and it comes through in his lectures. He makes sure that we see the influence of ancient myths on our modern world and really values our individual interests. I recommend this class for everyone, not just people specifically interested in classics.
