Excellent math teacher! Explains clearly & easily. Notes are out of the book; it is a necessity. Helps with homework in class & helps you if you don't understand. Very nice guy!
HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Viehweg for anyone even if you are bad at math. I am a typical C math student and got a B in this class. He is very good with answering questions and showing you what to expect on tests. Homework is online, MyMathLab but the text book isn't required. Being in his class was a good experience and i am trying to get him for 105
Great and helpful teacher. He walks through problems step by step and is great with questions. The online homework is confusing but that's the one downfall.
Great teacher! I loved him. He's hilarious and makes listening to math kinda fun. He really knows his math. Always willing to help. Tests are all multiple choice. The only downside would be having to use MyMathLab.
Enjoyed his class, fun especially for a math teacher. Always willing to answer your questions. Wish my schedule allowed me to take him again. One note must do all the work and study for the tests if you plan on passing.
Viehweg was awesome! He's crystal clear during lectures, he has a great sense of humor and is a sweet teacher! I recommend him! HW and tests are a major part of your grade.
Professor is cool, friendly and laid back. He seems to genuinely care about student success. He will occasionally grade on a curve to help students pass tests and listens to student input to improve how he teaches the material and how he formulates the tests. He is very clear about what will be on the tests and there are no surprises.
No doubt, he's a good professor. He’s friendly and always willing to answer questions. But, it's almost obvious that he's a high school teacher. I feel like his teaching methods and techniques are a bit sloppy and unsystematic. He also isn't entirely clear of what to study for tests; instead cracks jokes and veers off topic.
wonderful teacher. does his best to stay engaging and light- hearted. doesn't assume students automatically understand right away, safe environment to ask questions, assignments and tests well balanced. I hate math, but he set it up so I could understand and succeed. Highly Recommend.
Awesome teacher! Very clear on what will be on tests and even throws in a nice little curve.
His lectures are very helpful and easy to digest. He is very present and friendly. I would absolutley take him again. He is one of the best teachers I have ever taken. Viehweg will also respond to any e-mails very quickly, he will be there to help you. Easy class, attendance is not mandatory -but I still recommend that you show up!
Took him for math 105 during summer (which of course is going to be hard) but he teaches this class like his students already know the material and he is just reviewing it. He doesn't explain things well, it is like you are expected to know already. All these positive reviews threw me off so I took him. Bad experience.
Professor Viehweg moves through the curriculum fairly quickly, but is happy to slow down if someone asks a question or he feels the class needs to clearly understand something. Just show up to class, ask questions if you need to clarify something, do the homework, and study for the test using the in-class notes he gives you. You'll pass no problem.
Best math teacher I have ever had. He is very clear and goes over things in way that makes them seam simple. He cracks jokes, tells stories, and makes time fly. May have bean a stoner in college but he us a great math teacher now.
Take this class if you like math, take him for math120 if you don't.
Viehweg was great. I felt like he was very straight forward and yes he does go through material quickly he will slow down if asked so don't be afraid to ask questions or call him out if he isn't making any sense and he'll clarify things. Test aren't to bad as long as you show up for class and do the homework. He gives study guides too!
To say Viehweg is a good teacher would be a terrible understatement. There isn't a class session I have not attended where he did not have us laugh and enjoy our time. Questions never go without clarification, even if they may be obvious to others. Fill out the notes he has provided, study them wisely, and you'll do well without issue!
He went off the idea that you should already know how to do everything in class. So, this meant that he'd give you these tricks to just get through the math problems without teaching how you do them. He'd go off for most of the class talking about twitter and social media instead of explaining how the math problems worked. Had to learn on my own.
Mr. Veihweg is an awesome instructor with a good sense of humor and character. The class is actually not very difficult. I was able to pass while receiving treatment for bone marrow cancer and kidney failure. He was very understanding of my condition and just encouraged me to continue on. It takes dedication on the part of the student.
Do not take him for Stats. He teaches as if everyone was prepared to do Stats. He does go off talking about Walking Dead. He never gives people chances of wanting to leave a day off due to any family emergency. Stay away from Viehweg.
I agree, he goes off subject and DOES NOT care for all students. Usually he'll end class really early like people want to learn more but he teaches less and goes off subject talking about life and his dumb tv show walking dead. I've got a C. He does not care if you show up.
Best teacher. Those saying he is a terrible teacher are haters. Every teacher has haters, but Jarom doesn't deserve any haters. How the Adidas commercial says "There will be haters". He is very helpful and helps fix your mistakes. He gives me wisdom, he guides, and gives me purpose. Don't let these people fool you. He is easy going.
Professor Viehweg is an amazing teacher that tries to make the best of stats. Stats isn't easy for many people and no question is too dumb to ask. He is very clear and doesn't jump all over the place during lecture. He makes cheesy jokes to lighten the stress in class. I would take him again.
He is an excellent teacher, is very clear with instructions, teachers at a good pace, is overall a very easy teacher as long as you follow instructions and do your work. Also, on the plus side he can be funny.
Lots of online homework, but it's only 8% of your grade. Really cares about his students and answers all your questions while making sure you understand it. If you skip class and don't go over what you missed you'll fall behind.
He's super understanding and helpful. Do the homework online and theres a project at the end of the semester. If you need extra help he is there for you. I watched all the video notes and then did my homework. The tests were just like the homework. Don't forget how to use the formulas and you'll be fine. I actually found him funny which helped.
Great professor knows his stuff!
Professor Viehweg is quite possibly the best professor that I have ever had! He truly does everything in his power to ensure his students do well. He gives good lectures, tests match the material covered in class, and he drops the lowest exam score. He has an amazing sense of humor and is always available if a student needs help. Take his class!
Attendance in his class as with all college courses is mandatory if you want to learn and get a good grade. A very funny guy. He will make you work for it. Follow the notes that he has you take -- print out the guides that are provided. Practice exams will be similar to the real exams. Do all the extra credit no matter what! You may need it.
Cares about his students.
Had him for Math 105, and honestly, this class is a breeze so long as you print out the notes and do the homework. The exams are all based on the notes, so whatever is in the notes is fair game. The homework is online (MyMathLab) and it's extra practice. His lectures are also very funny and interactive, and he encourages questions! So ask away!
I found that his jokes during class were sometimes really distracting and he got sidetracked and off topic so quickly. Sometimes there were more times listening to him try to explain his jokes then there was actual teaching going on. Not really what I am looking for in an instructor.
Take him! He is amazing. He knows his material very well, and trust me, he's got some good jokes.
Hes a very funny teacher, he even talks about himself a little from time to time and talks to you during breaks. Hes a bit looney but in a funny way. He talked about his dead grandpa for like 20 minutes so you know there will be a bit of getting side tracked.
Professor Viehweg is hilarious! He sets you up to succeed. Homework is online, he has notes prepared so all you have to do is print them out, you don't need the book. ATTEND the lectures use THE NOTES. Its math so take the time to STUDY and Practice. Math can get boring so when he sidetracks and starts saying some funny stuff its a little relief.
Viehweg is one of the best math teachers Ive had. He is so inspirational and pushes his students to work hard. Print out all his lecture notes and do the extra credit. He jokes throughout his lectures which I liked because it kept me wake. He makes the content easy to understand and makes himself available outside class. Highly recommend.
Good professor, class is only as hard as you make it to be. I would and will definitely take a class again with the same teacher. Actively listens to students and their problem areas. ACTUALLY reaches out to students to make sure they are passing and helps if were in need. Overall very good teacher and doesnt make class boring. 10/10 recommend
This is the best math teacher I've had and taking his class made me realize that I'm not inherently bad at math. He was the first math teacher to inspire me to have a growth mindset and he is very good at explaining things. I left the class feeling I mastered 90% of what was taught. It's very important to be in class and to not procrastinate on hw.
Awesome professor hes really funny. This class is not an easy A but he will give you all the tools needed to succeed. I have taken multiple classes with him and passed. Your grade is a reflection of the work you put in. Key is dont fall behind if you ask for help he will help you.
One of my favorite teacher. I will definitely take him for any math class that I can. He really encourages students to do well and if you ask a question he will answer it in detail. Best part was that he would tell stories when it math was feeling rough so there was a break.
Best math teacher! He teaches things in multiple ways to make sure everyone understands the material. Tests are multiple choice. And he is very funny! I have never enjoyed math til i started taking classes with this professor.
He shows you more than one way to solve the problems ! He is funny and has many stories to tell but they somehow, sometime, connect with what he is teaching.
Viehweg is the best VVC has to offer. He makes math fun. He is the total package of everything youd want in a professor. He is fair be warned not an easy A . but he is dedicated to his students and will help you along the way.
10/10 Recommend!! If you really struggle with math but still have to take it (like I did) then take his class! He is super helpful while also creating a great environment to learn in. Gives you all the resources you could possibly need. When the going gets rough in class, he'll occasionally tell stories to lighten the mood. Couldn't ask for better!
One of the best math teachers at vvc. He is very motivating and always expects the best from his students. He makes himself accessible outside of class and constantly reminds you of that. He makes everything clear and helps you along the way if you are struggling. He doesn't curve grades so make sure you put in the work, definitely recommend!
Professor Viehweg's class was the best math class I've ever been in. His lectures were hilarious, but if you missed a day then you probably missed out on something important. There's a lot of homework and tests, but it's statistics so that's understandable. As long as you follow the syllabus and pay attention you'll pass.
Although the class may seem overwhelming/challenging, it is worth it. Viehweg pushes you to do your absolute best. He is a solid teacher. Homework may be too much, but it helps as some problems show up on tests. Take his class seriously. Study hard. Do not give up. Ask him for help. Study. Study. Study. Tests are huge in his class.
I never had an issue getting help from it when I needed it, he was very accessible and clear and a really good instructor. He won't hold your hand with the basic stuff so if you need to be reminded of earlier stuff, beware. But if you are still fresh on the earlier math stuff and want to spend your time learning new things, he's clear and concise.
I actually took Math 42 but it's not an option. Mr. Viehweg is a really great teacher. I went into his class telling him that I wasn't good at math but when he started teaching I immediately picked everything up and was able to perform on tests/homework. He teaches math in a way thats simple and I feel like he definitely prepared me for Math 90
16 week on campus class: Hes super funny, nice, willing to help, answers emails fast, sends the class notes through email & gives a lot of extra credit :) The only downside is that he gets off topic so easily which makes the class fall behind. He taught an entire chapter the day before the final bc we were so behind :/ but Id take him again :)
I took his Math 105 hybrid class. He had a small quiz every class the minute you walk in. He goes over none of the notes in class so for homework youre basically all ny yourself to figure it out. The tests are 100 times harder then the quizzes so they were no help with studying.
Yeah, just look for another professor for this subject. I aced intermediate algebra (Math90) and I did so poorly this class and that was WITH trying. He's not helpful by any means and is selfish with his time. So do me and yourself a favor and don't get yourself in a hole with his class. You'll thank me later.
If you are looking for an easy "A" this is not the class for you but, if you want to learn stats he's a good pick. Super nice guy, a lot of work so be prepared.
Professor Viehweg is by far the best Math teacher I have ever had. I haven't taken any math in 8 years and took Calculus over Summer in a 6 week class. Very tough material but he is extremely passionate, caring, understanding, and an overal great teacher. If you go to class and pay attention you will pass and enjoy your time in class. HIGHLY RECOMM
Professor Viehweg is one of the best math teachers I have ever had the opportunity to take. I am not a math person at all but taking his class helped me realize Im very capable. Hes so understanding and passionate about his work, dont be afraid to ask for help because he will help you understand. I would definitely take him again.
He is a pretty good professor. He always jokes and tells stories. Very lecture and test heavy. There is a test every week and they can be pretty difficult in stats. Likes to assign group work and provides study guides to the groups.
I took Professor Viehweg over a six week summer course and I have to say I was a little nervous taking Calculus 1 in a condensed time frame. I could not be more happy with my decision. I would Highly recommend him as a teacher.
So many discussions. 0 partial credit. He wants everything done his way doesnt matter if your answers are correct, if it wasnt done how he says - points off. His quizzes are only a few questions so you get one wrong-your screwed. All the lectures + learning on blk board he doesnt even explain or teach how he gets his answers. I Regret taking Him
I took him for Stats and his class is no easy task. I got an A, so it is possible, but it takes a lot of studying and help from group members. There is a lot of group work/projects, so choose carefully who you sit next to. Each class is a lecture and there are tests about every other week. Professor V is really the best choice for a Stats class (:
Amazing Professor, he is genuine. He will take the time to help you when given the chance. I would take him again if I needed to.
I loved Professor Viehweg's class! He is very passionate about statistics and that shows in his lectures. I struggled with stats in high school but did not have any problems throughout this course! Just make sure you complete your notes and homework and you'll be fine!
I had him for MATH 42s as well and he was awesome. I liked the way he taught math and how he takes his time. He doesn't go fast. For MATH120 I took his hybrid class and we met once a week. He answered many homework questions and prepared well for the test. He answers all his emails and his grading style is great. Would totally him a 3rd time.
Amazing professor who genuinely cares for his students. Hes flexible with time and due dates if you need more time to fully understand the material he is going over. I would definitely take him again for my future math courses!! One of the best professors Ive had.
Great teacher! There is a LOT of homework and notes so you will need to set aside a lot of time just for this class. In order to be successful in this class you will NEED to be very familiar with basic highschool algebra. He is patient and really tries to help students understand things in a way that works for them. Would definitely take him again!
He really cares that you learn the material and he helped me a lot in changing my bad practices to easier ones. If you ask questions and put in the work to pass you will. He provides study guides for extra credit that help a lot for the tests.
I took his hybrid stats class. Down to earth and genuine professor. Explains the material very well and encourages questions / participation. There is a lot of work and tests are a big deal. But he prepares you for it all, just make sure you pay attention.
Solid professor, my fate wasn't helped by the fact we switched to remote instruction, however. He is difficult, but you just need to keep up with the homework and the notes, and you'll do fine. Very test heavy, each one is worth 50% of your grade, if I recall.
He was an okay teacher but didn't explain the lectures and assumed that you knew the curriculum. He gives a lot of busy work and the the final is 30% of your grade (chapters 1-12)and can only use one side of a 3 x 5 index card. It's a NO for me.
I honestly thought he was the best mathematics professor I ever had. I was in his class when Covid happened, and he helped us so much. He was a very one on one professor, and personally cared about helping. One thing I thought was really cool was that he had really great morals, and empathy. He is a really great professor. Totally recommended!
I am so glad I chose this professor to get back into school/math after almost 15 years of no math. He is a great teacher, you just have to be open to learning. I didnt get an A but I cant complain considering I havent taken a math class in such a long period of time. He responds to emails fast! Im so glad he was my math teacher.
I took Viehweg for Math 105 Summer Session and it was a great experience. As the other comments have pointed out he will drop your lowest quiz grade and lowest 5 homework grades which can be very beneficial to your grade. His lectures are short (around 15 min per video) and he explains concepts in great detail. He will answer any question you have.
Very nice professor, but doesn't seem to care about students life's or other classes. I could have a busy semester with just this one course. Expects full time job amount of hours devoted to one course. The worst part is the heavy load of homework that is only worth a pitiful percent of your grade. If your not good with tests, prepare to fail.
I am currently taking him, he gives out notes that you just have to fill in and his lectures are almost 2 hour longs with him mostly rabbling about random things. Took the midterm and a lot of students failed including myself. I studied a lot but obviously not enough. His lectures are not good and I am basically teaching myself. Don't take his clas
Professor Viehweg is such an amazing professor! He takes the time to make sure that all of his student's needs are met. He is super organized and responds promptly. He provides printed notes that you can use to follow along during his lectures. I could go on and on, just know I HIGHLY recommend! I wish he taught every subject!
One of the best professors to take, especially if the course is online. He is super understanding and genuinely cares that every student understands the material and is caught up. He also has the best "dad jokes" throughout his lectures! He provides all the necessary tools for you to pass his class, but it's up to you to put the effort in.
He was unorganized and his course shell was messy. He couldn't even update the dates from his spring term to fit the dates for fall term. Constantly changed how much assignments were worth. Hard to keep up with the class when things weren't in order ever. Told us to not give him a 1 star before our final. He seemed to care too much about his image.
When the average grade on a test for the class is 7.7 out of 20 points, people would think that the professor would curve the overall grade, but no! This professor blames the student even though only one type of problem was taught with the least amount of effort put in from the professor! The amount of stress from this "professor" is NOT worth it!
He is fantastic teacher! He really cares about his students. The people who complain on here are honestly mad about their grade. He gives you basically everything you need to do well. He gives you awesome notes and lectures; you just have to try. Take him if you can! Just be ready to actually learn he doesnt just give away A's. I recommend him 100%
Not worth it.
Professor Viehweg was a pretty reasonable instructor. He is very lecture and homework heavy so be prepared for that if you do take him. He tries to make the class an enjoyable experience. Also be prepared to study a lot, especially for the Final since the final is 40% of your grade. Overall, not the worst instructor but be prepared to work.
Math 105 personally was harder on me since I didnt know much math. Although the lectures and fill-in notes provided were very helpful. The notes give a laugh due to jokes. If you need questions answered just ask, he is open to answer any. Pretty fair teacher, just wouldnt take him again. Take extra credit opportunities when given.
PLEASE HEAR ME OUT !! I took his online math 105+85 class, if you know that you are not good at math please do not try to attempt his class. He did not teach me ANYTHING this whole semester and I basically had to teach myself. I had an A in his class and it dropped down to a D because the final is 40 percent. He is funny at times. NOT WORTH IT !
If you hate math, this is the teacher for you. His lectures are actually engaging and entertaining. Not to mention he makes math make sense. Prof. Viehwig is so kind and understanding. And oh my goodness he is so incredibly organized!!! He was my only teacher to have the whole class laid out before the term started. 10/10 would definitely recommend
As a fellow math major I can definitely tell you this is the worst math class Ive even taken in my life. And that says a lot. The teacher does have organization, and can be helpful and joke at times. Attendance matters. Midterm is crucial. Final is 40 percent. If you fail it you wont recover. Dont take this class or drop out while you can.
Ok honestly, the people leaving bad reviews are bitter. Im TERRIBLE at math and his lectures notes actually made it easy for me.. Yes you have to put in the work but I'm assuming these other reviews expected their grade to be handed to them. Viehweg helps you if you need help and communicates, there's literally no excuse to fail. Study and pass.
Don't take if math or taking tests isn't your thing. You'll do fine the whole semester then run into a wall with his midterm/final. His class is a ton of work so make sure you don't have a super heavy schedule if you take him. He's not horrible but I personally don't think it's worth the stress if there's other prof's to choose from.
Great professor. His lectures are basically prerecorded videos that can be long, but detailed. Test and quizzes are not hard as long as you study and keep up with the class. Just prepare for a lot of homework, depending on the chapter.
I took his class and had to withdraw because he gave so much work that was barely worth any points. If you fail his midterm, he literally TELLS YOU to drop. He seems like a nice person, but his class is just not worth it.
This Professor was funny when giving online lectures, and genuinely helpful when receiving tutoring from and asking questions. When it comes to grading, he is the most unsympathetic teacher I have ever had. His final was 40 PERCENT of the final grade and he graded everything to the DECIMAL.
Calculus is a hard subject, but I am very glad I started it with Mr. Viehweg. His lectures are easy to follow and are very descriptive.
Professor V was amazing! I took this class last summer after about 20 years of no math. Phew I worked extremely hard, as hard as I could, yet, I had a horrible panic attack during a test. I contacted him and he was so nice and understanding. Take his class, you wont regret it!
Have to pay for webassign. Problems sets (sometimes 2) due every week AND Quiz (or test) every week AND Discussion post + 2 responses every week. Midterm +Final 50% of overall grade (using Respondus Lockdown ) - Creates a really stressful testing environment (for me at least). Seems like a decent guy but def takes his class too seriously.
The average grade for the final worksheet was 1.7 out of 15 points and 1.6 out of 68 point on the online portion of the final. He failed almost the entire class. I wish I would have dropped out when I had the chance.
I took this class through concurrent enrollment. I would have had no motivation to walk over to the VVC campus and take this class if the professor wasn't so entertaining and chill. Statistics is also a great math course for non-math people.
This professor took me from being absolutely terrible at trig to a solid B+. His lectures are in-depth and thorough, never passing up a moment to clarify where, why, and how he got a number. Clear, consistent communication too. The bad reviews want everything on a silver platter. Surprise surprise, you have to apply yourself to pass trig.
Viehweg is an amazing professor. There is a decent amount of homework, but all of it serves a clear purpose in preparing for tests. His lectures are organized, concise, and riddled with jokes. He equips every student with tons of resources and genuinely cares that his students succeed while not sugar-coating the amount of work needed to be done.
He is certainly a no-nonsense professor; if you goof off and don't try, he won't help you. But when you put the effort in and actually attempt to learn and master the material, he will answer all of your questions clearly and will never get annoyed at someone who just wants to learn. 10/10 would take his class again.
A solid choice but there is a lot of homework online we have to buy mymathway and turn in our notes on online lectures every week and take quizzes every week. But he replaces your lowest 2 grades on homework and the final is optional so if you blow it you can redeem your grade with the final he also hosts tutoring and has convenient office hrs.
Do yourself a favor and just take Professor Toner. He has the same notes as Viehweg but explains it better !!!
Viehweg is an awesome teacher! I am NOT a math person, but as long as you do the homework and keep up on assignments you'll do fine. Midterm was 15 percent of our grade, and I got a solid C. Ended up acing the final worth 40 percent and got an A.
I took VVC's 6 week winter Trig class with Viehweg. He gets a 1/5 stars because 1. his videos, tests, and hw do not line up 2. he only does easy problems in the videos and in class, leaving yourself stranded with hard problems 3. he is nit-picky with the things he shouldn't be (ie my personal notes) 4. his class is unbalanced from tests to hw :(
Hated taking Math 104 with him. The amount of work is almost psychotic for most students and he only ever does easy problems, so hard ones slap you in the face. His midterm and final are extremely easy compared to the general tests, quizzes, even homework. His homework, lectures, and tests never aligned. However, I still earned a high A.
As long as you put in the work, you will succeed. The professor gives extra credit on tests and gives test reviews that resemble 90-95% of what is on the test. Know your algebra and trig well before taking calculus, and you'll be good. Difficult questions on the HW are NOT on the tests. Straightforward and reasonable. Take Math 86 with this class!
Viehweg is one of the best math professors at VVC. He has clear grading criteria and is very organized, from notes to pre-recorded lectures. He is hilarious and very down-to-earth. Tests are like study guides! He made calculus bearable.
I recommend that you see this comment as an honest warning. This professor is truly unbearable. He drones on and on jumping from problem to problem, cracks unfunny jokes, and insults students for asking questions. He grades tests on proof, not any proof, but EXACTLY how he writes it out. If you use another professor's strategy or the real one: F-
Professor Viehweg is someone who cares about his student's passing and making sure they really understand the material. If you want an easy A this class is not for you and get ready to put in many hours to pass. His homework can be difficult at times, not his fault entirely web assign sucks. His quiz reviews are generally the same as the tests.
I don't know what the low-raters are talking about because Professor Viehweg is AWESOME! LOTS of hard work, but you really earn your grade and learn the material. At a certain point, you can't make math fun, but he made class-time fun, and that's all I needed. There are small EC assignments, but do them all! Tests are very fair. 110% recommend.
I took STATS as a hybrid class during the winter semester, and it was not easy. But it was worth it as Professor Viehweg was very helpful throughout the semester.
The professor is nice enough, and accessible. But the class has an absurd amount of classwork, and it will consume all of your time. It is SO stressful, and impossible to make time for other classes, a job or kids. It is also important to note a TI-84 calculator is MANDATORY. I can't describe how bad this class was for my mental health. 2/10.
This class was fairly easy as it was a simpler math class. Viehweg made it really easy to understand and was really caring when it came to answering questions. There are lectures pretty much every day but they're manageable to get through. Overall if you're taking Math-132 and don't feel too confident in math, I highly recommend Viehweg.
Very great professor!! Professor Viehweg was great at clearing confusion up about lectures and problems I didn't understand. All his quizzes are online and lots of homework that prepares you for midterm and final. I took him over the summer so it was extra stressful but overall would take him again!
Mr. V is the best calc teacher I had. He is very understanding and cares for all his students. He answers every question you have. Gives us a lot of time to turn in work and gives out a lot of extra credit when work is turned in on time. He is awesome just dont get behind on work and youll be fine.
Professor Viehweg is an amazing professor! I learned quite a lot from his class since he teaches very well! He is also very caring and allows us plenty of time to turn in our work. When you turn your work in on time, you also get extra credit! He is also hilarious and cracks funny jokes throughout his lectures. 10/10 couldn't recommend him more!
Lots of work for a 6 week class. Overall he is fair and tries to ensure everyone does their best.
I'm leaving another rating because mine got deleted, Professor Jarom was way to difficult, he wants the notes to be done how he wants them done, not for the students benefit. I would redo assignments and they still weren't good enough for him, I would ask him certain things and he just wanted to be right. Do yourself a favor and go with prof Thomas
This professor acts sympathetic but he has a power complex by loading absurd amounts of work then despite you communicating a time and date you can catch up, he will just drop you despite your obvious efforts to communicate how you will keep up in his class. Also completely ignores if you mention your access. Do not take this guy.
I took my Statistic online with Mr. Viehweg. Math is not my favorite subject, but I passed his class with an A. He has lecture videos for each chapter, and you have to do notes along with it. It's up to you to learn the material. It's not bad if you actually put in the time to watch the lecture videos, do notes then the homeworks and quizzes.
Prepare for lots of work! If you take this class in winter I suggest not getting other classes because of the amount of work. For finals and midterm you have to go in to take a the test to ensure no cheating but you can take a note card and a scientific calculator. The class was good just lots of work
Amazing math professor recommend to anybody needing math classes.
70% of your grade is dependent on 20 questions and this is not a joke or exaggeration. 30% is the final (5 questions) and 40% are based on 3 tests also 5 questions each. The homework is lengthy, and insanely time consuming. His lectures are not very helpful as he solves problems and also messes up at times. He expects to teach through homework only
Mr. Viehweg was an amazing teacher! I suck at math, but he really encouraged me and made success easy. He's funny and relatable, with a lot of help offered to his students. His online class is well organized and he uses an outside math program for work. My class had 2 in-person tests, that were very easy due to his well-provided study materials.
Provides ample time to do HW throughout the semester outside of class, even allows late work to be submitted. The issue is, short class times result in rushed lecture & very little to no review prior to midterm and final (which make up the bulk of your grade). A student can pass all HW & tests but do poorly on the final and fail the whole class.
Professor Viehweg was an excellent teacher. His clear syllabus outlined the class structure and grading expectations. This class is perfect for those who want to learn and practice the material, with a funny and engaging professor however, it's not for those looking to avoid work because what you put into the class is what you get out of it.

Professor Viehweg is amazing at teaching math in a way I could understand. I took the online course which had everything for the semester posted on day 1. He grades tests and assignments quickly, which cannot be said for other vvc Proffessors I have had. The midterm/final is in person but they were both easy and exactly like the study guide.
Professor Viehweg is tough but fair. Lots of work, but he makes it engaging with his humor and cares that students really learn the material. unstuck ai was a great study aid along with the textbook.
Viehweg is a good professor but assigns A LOT of homework. Most of my time is dedicated to the difficult homework. It's too overwhelming and can discourage learning. His lectures are great though. Learning should be the priority not the amount of work that get's done. Homework leaves less room to study and just takes time understanding one problem.
Professor Viehweg is the absolute best, I don't know why he has these low ratings. I took Math 226 with him (hybrid/6 weeks), lectures were online and we met twice a week. The homework can be long and tedious but it was doable. Be ready to put in some hard work (avg. 40hrs/week). Overall, Best Professor! I don't know what else to say, TAKE HIM!!!
Viehweg is the BEST Professor you could ask for. He makes sure you earn your grade. His lectures are designed in a way that made Calculus very easy to understand. Yes there is lots of homework but as long as you're able to solidify your Algebra skills, and understand Trig to some extent, the concepts of this class are relatively easy.
Attend lectures, the support class--tutoring if you must. He wants you to succeed. Ik it can be difficult, but he taught better than my hs teacher! He's a great professor, listen to his advice, watch the posted lectures, ask ?s, participate in group work. I thought group work was the best thing since like t.v. Don't forget ab your h.w. !
This teacher was so hard. He is friendly but gives so much work and the lectures are so long you forget what you're even studying!!! I would not recommend.
Can be difficult but if you do the homework, tests, and STUDY FOR THE FINAL then you will pass. He wants you to pass, just do everything and don't cut corners and you'll do fine. He's a funny guy and a great teacher.
