Jarren Gonzales is an awsome instructor! He makes class very enjoyable and he understands what it's like to be a student, so he keeps that in mind when giving grades as he curves all his exams and throws out any unfair questions. The guy us willing to go above and beyond to help you out. I suggest you take him the class is fun and easy I got an A+.

Awesome Professor! He's a pretty easy teacher. Class is interesting if you're interested in the subject. Jarren is very clear and is always there to help with anything. Exams are easy, just keep up with the powerpoints and listen in class. I never read the book and I got an A in the class. Overall, awesome professor.

Great professor. Very nice and willing to help. He has reasonable expectations. Homework is due at the end of each chapter but it isn't too hard. The tests are impossible if you don't study (it is statistics after all). He will curve tests if everyone does bad. Overall this is a great class and he tries really hard to make it interesting & relevant

Dr. Gonzales is an excellent professor. He is always patient, respectful, responsive to questions, approachable. Tests are not extremely easy, but can be if you study the material which he goes over in depth. If I weren't transferring next semester, I would take another course taught by him.

Dr. Gonzales is a decent prof. He knows what he is teaching and he's very nice toward his students. Even though I found his lecture not very helpful (probly it's just me), but test materials are straight off from the book. If you spend a little time reading the book, you should be fine. Also, he gives decent powerpoints that you can use to study.

Very good teacher. Teaches the hard stuff so he's not easy but you do learn. You HAVE to go to class and do homework. Always takes time to answer questions and makes sure people understand the material. Encourages students to go to his office hours. I'm not a math person at all and I managed to get an A

Lectures are boring, but he posted PPTs for notes. Tests are straight off the book. He's kind, understanding, and ready to help. Did a couple of Essays, which he graded easy. No final. Not a hard class.

great professor, exams arent too bad just gotta keep up with the reading which is a good amount but very do-able. few extra credit chances. group project and a few papers. notes are off powerpoint and you can just print them off but i recommend you rewrite them as he goes over pp because it helps when you go back to read.

Stats was far from my favorite class, but Dr. G is one of my favorite people. Though class can be boring, he is honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met. Makes psych 100H soooo easy!! Love him and this class. Definitely a much better teacher than Lien Pham, I dropped her class midway in the fall and took Gonzales in the Spring, and am sooo happy I did! He's the best!!

Dr. Gonzales is so nice and helpful and willing to teach to anyone who is willing to learn. He is very patient and will explain any questions you have. Tests are taken from the book. no quizes, but you read a book called blink and must write "reactions" to each chapter. there is also a paper at the end of the semester that you write on the book.

Took him for statistics for behavioral sciences and he is one of the best teachers on campus. Do your best on the first 2 tests because you will have a great grade going into the final

Psychology couldn't get any harder than this class. Took stats with him too but this was way more challenging with tons of writing. Tests are not easy either. This will prepare you to transfer though. Plus he's such a generous, sweet and nice person. Take the advantage of his office hour. He'll help you out with anything you're going through.

Best professor I've had at OCC hands down. This guy is incredible. I consider myself somewhat slow and ask a ton of questions; he was helpful with me and would always come sit with me when I needed help. He is absolutely the best.

The thought of Stats scared me, but he made it SO easy with the way he taught it AND the book he has you buy is SO easy to read and understand! You'll have to use Aplia online, but it's GREAT; we never turn in homework. I can't believe I ended up understanding AND liking Stats. I got a 99% in class. Tied for BEST teacher at OCC!!

If you gotta take stats for psych, you couldn't find a better professor. He cares about the students and helps you every time you have a question. I dread any kind of math class but still manage to get an A. Tests are MC + application problems but the homework website has practice tests that are similar to the ones on the tests.

I took his human life span development class my first semester and was pleasantly surprised. Jarren was super nice and helpful. The class was small so there were a lot of group projects and discussions, but it really only enhanced the material. If you read the chapters and don't take notes you'll do fine.

Dr. Gonzales is by far one of the best professors I've had at OCC. He is more than willing to spend extra time outside of class to help his students understand the material. A handful of students in my class even arranged a study group in the library before tests and Dr. Gonzales showed up to help. Not to mention he's super cute.

Dr. Gonzales is easily one of the best teachers I have had at OCC. I took stats so the material wasn't easy but he was EXTREMELY helpful and willing to stay late or meet early to go over material. He is very patient and actually wants you to succeed in his class but will make you work for the A. I definitely reccomend taking his class.

Class if full of thought provoking discussions, you have to do work at home, but the assignments are easy. He puts a lot of weight in the Group Projects, but he is always open to help and answers questions and didn't put people down. Acts like a high school teacher somewhat: need to put in the work, but he'll help you when you need it. Very kind.

Dr. Gonzales is a great teacher. That being said, I feel like I learned everything from the book. Class was basically discussion the entire time with little lecture. There's 2 online quizzes per ch; you need to pay for access online. 4 reflection papers. 4 tests that mainly reflect book reading. He does give some ex credit! opportunities!

Best math teacher I have ever had! Attendance is a must if you want an A, the book alone will not earn you a good grade. I loath math and found his teaching methods to be superb. Would definitely recommend, he also keeps your attention with jokes everyday.

Lectures are discussion based; makes class very enjoyable and you definitely learn a lot and get more insight on the subject. However, the tests are based on reading the book. The questions aren't too hard. Dr. gonzales is a great guy! 4exams, 4written assignments, and 20 online quizzes(unlimited attempts) and there's a bunch of participation pts.

He is awesome!! If you don't understand math or are afraid don't be! he will break down every detail, sometimes it gets annoying,but its nice when you don't understand. He WANTS you to do good. He actually uses blackboard and keeps your grade up to date. make sure you get As on all your online homeworks it will count in the end!

I failed 2 exams but still ended up with a B. Dr. G. offers a lot of extra credit. The material at first seemed very difficult to me, but as time went on, Dr. G. makes it easy for you to understand why we did what we did. Just put in the work and you'll do well in his class. Highly recommended.

u need the book going to class for me was basically pointless since he doesnt go over most things that are on the exams.he have online quizzes that are easy A's. there 2 are mini projects. he is a nice prof and offers EC at the very end so u can hold out on that. read the whole book for an A in the class. Im now taking a quantitative methods of political science course at Csu dominguez hills after transferring from occ and i can honestly say that taking prof gonzales' stats course was one of the best academic decisions i have ever made. This course gave me a very solid foundation in Stats that has proved to be Key in my upper div coursework!

Amazing professor. Genuinely interested in teaching students and giving them the best possible learning experience. His passion is definitely there. Bio psych can be very dense learning, but Jarren definitely makes it interesting. Four exams, each ranging from 30-40 questions so KNOW YOUR MATERIAL, it really isn't rocket science though :-)

Math has never been an easy subject for me, but Dr. G was so clear and so helpful! As long as you work hard and try to finish everything that is required, there is no reason to fail. If you're having trouble understanding something, Dr. G is more than happy to help and will take however long it takes explaining something. Highly recommended!

He goes by the book. He teaches by the guidelines of the course. His homework is accessible and if you do the reading, you will score 10/10. Communication is huge-- he is more than willing to help out in any way that he can. Usually gives extra credit. Best professor I have had! Highly recommended.

Dr. G is the best Prof I've ever had. I have zero confidence in my ability to do math and have always struggled with the subject. That being said, he is a FANTASTIC teacher & really willing to help his students succeed! It is a hard class, with lots of homework, but if you stick with it, do the homework, & ask for help if needed, you'll be ok!

BEST TEAHCER EVER. if you take stats, make sure you take him. He is absolutley charming and very helpful. He made learning a difficult (in my opinion) subject much more manageable. I took it as a four hour night class and i'm a morning person with a short attention span, yet i still recieved A. Thats how awesome he is!!!

He is a really passionate teacher. His lecture might be long and sometimes confusing but you can learn a lot from him and his class. All tests have a short easy writing about what you learn. The class is not easy but you can get an A if you do every assignment. He offers extra credit. There are easy homeworks every week and one paper.

I paid attention in class (stay off your phone), did all the HW assignments, and got a B on each test except one. Of course it was the one I didn't study much for. He offers extra credit. 2 volunteer trips (10 pts each) and online hw is huge. He offers practice tests which help a lot. Basically if you put effort into his class it's an easy A or B.

Jarren is respected by many students and is very motivating. The exams are not all fully multiple choice as there are computation sections. He is very helpful, humorous, and gives a couple of extra credit opportunities in the form of volunteer work. Completion of the two data sets near the end of the semester are crucial!

Helpfulness: He is helpful in that he makes himself available for students by email and long office hours. He's a fantastic communicator. He WANTS students to pass. Clarity: Assignments always due on Sunday. Lectures follow along his PP slides, which are available online. Easy: Tests align with in class discussions and lecture notes.

Great Professor. I loved his class and thought he was very clear on what he was teaching. He seems organized and keeps blackboard up to date. His lectors do get long however, but everything on the test will be talked about in class. The tests are somewhat easy and around 30 question multiple choice. As a freshman completing my math credit, I couldn't be happier with choosing to take his class instead of Math 140 or 100.

I took AP Psyc in high school and this is so much easier. If you're struggling, go to his office hours! He's really an amazing professor. He's there to help and he actually cares, unlike the majority of professors.

I thought I was going to get a B or less when I started but he really made it easy to learn all the information we needed and I got an A+ in his class! This class would be an easy A class for you when you're in a large lecture hall. The two student assistants check your attendance. For this class, you need to register 4 scantrons forwardly. Also, you use an online program to start and finish assignments. You can choose to have a book, but also make it accessible online(same one you use for hw).

Amazing professor. He explains subjects very clearly. Study, focus during homework and keep up with lecture notes and your assigned work. He is extremely helpful and is more than willing to answer any of your questions and work with you if you need it. He gets personal with you and is the nicest professor at OCC!

Very chill professor. He usually lectures about what you will read that night. Just do the practice exams a bunch of times, and do the homework which you get 3 chances each time until you get a better score then you will get an A or B . Never used the book or really wrote notes. Just listen to his lectures and have common sense on key terms.

Overall a very good stats teacher. He will make you work for your grade. Be prepared to study for his tests. Whatever you do- DON'T PROCRASTINATE. If you participate in class and make an effort, he will notice. His lectures can be a little boring but he gives a lot of help if you're struggling. Study groups + tutor will help in the long run.

Super duper easy A. All I ever did in his class was sleep & I passed with a 96%. Homework/quizzes are all online and gives you 3 attempts so no reason why you shouldn't get a 100% . Prac exams are similar to the actual. Just skim the textbook & you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory but I rarely showed up & still got a 10/10 on participation.

Hands down one of my favorite professors at OCC! Dr. G is so passionate about what he teaches and he is ALWAYS willing to help. He's pretty corky and always has jokes which makes lecture fun. I wish I could take him for all my psych courses. Make sure you attend every lecture, ask questions, and do the homework and you are guaranteed an A!

I couldn't have asked for a better way to start college. The class was great and Dr. G helped me to get ready for my major. We had good discussions in class and his practice tests give you a good idea about what is on the test. He is really nice and encourages you to do your best. Do all the little quizzes and activities on MindTap- it will help you do well on the exams. There's a few exams, group experiment project, and a APA paper.

Professor Gonzales is the best professor I have had at Orange Coast! He is so down to earth, easy to talk to, and ensures his lectures keep students interested by incorporating small class activities. Assignments are all online and are easy to get 100% on. Jarren has great knowledge of the material and is good at teaching it. He is one of the most kind, caring, and funny professors at OCC. Tests are nearly identical in terms of difficulty to his exam prep questions. No trick questions. Gives tons of extra credit. Professor Gonzales is pretty straightforward of what he wants his students to know about psychology. He made psychology class pretty easy to understand and pass. Students are not required to be there- just only to do tests and uses textbook if needed; however, students are required to complete individual work assignments and mini-quizzes online

After transferring, I've taken numerous 300 level courses that involve the same statistics Dr. G teaches. Courses in statistics, business analysis, and economics. Not one professor has explained the material anywhere near as well as him. Those classes would have been difficult had I not taken his class, but they ended up being very easy for me.

Dr. Gonzales and his PSYC 160 class was the perfect way to start college. His lectures were full of stories, humor, and the exact steps and formulas needed in the computation section of the tests. He not only taught statistics, he taught how to understand and use it in further academic research. 4 tests, lots of homework, and extra credit

Jarren is a cool laid back dude that really cares about his students. There is 4 different exams, 100 dollar book mandatory for homework, and 1 small extra credit at the end. I am not a fan of taking math classes, but I needed to take him for my psych major. He does take a long time to explain certain problems but he explains them very well. The textbook is online, and so is the homework. You have to purchase access to go online which he helps provide that info. He is very kind and understanding. Take him!

There are no participation points so attendance isn't necessary if you understand stats but sitting through his lectures really helped me. Dr. G is a very great professor. He cares a lot about his students. I took his class during the pandemic and he was very understanding that people were going through a tough time. Easy A if you do you homework and weekly quizzes. The book is pretty pricey but the software is useful in helping with memory retention. Test aren't super hard.

There are extra credits for test preparation and his lectures are pretty easy to understand. Sometimes homework can be a lot, but it's doable. The only thing that I didn't like is that the online textbook, which was about $90, was mandatory.

I've taken Dr. Gonzales for two classes now. He is by far the BEST PROFESSOR I've had between several colleges I've attended. He inspires you to do well by teaching in a way that you understand and get excited. I hate math in all forms and have always received bad grades. The way he teaches statistics clicked with me and I got an A! TAKE HIS CLASS!

Easy psych class to take if you need credits. No zoom class but just canvas assignments. All homework is on modules due every week and it's on another website that you have to pay for (which is the textbook fee basically). Easy A honestly, all you have to do is just make sure you're up to date with every module every week! Quizlet helps a lot :)

I had his class online due to COVID for Fall 2020 and it was a straightforward class. Zoom classes were optional but I would recommend going since the text can get confusing at times. grades were based solely on hw and exams (4). There was severely assignments but were easy if you understood the material. Some E.C is given. kind and helpful

He sets up many office hours in case you need help. He is sweet and cares about anything you have questions about. His material is very detailed and easy to navigate.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about him. Im not very good with doing homework on time and he gave me extra time on that along with others who struggle. this class Is the easies out there along with the teacher. TAKE MR.G!!!

Once a week you had to turn in a quiz and mastery training on cengage. You can check your answers before submitting so there is no reason to not get 100% in this class. The book costs $90 but just join student equity and the school will pay it. The 4 exams (not quizzes) are easy as well. I recommend this online class.

4 canvas exams (half MC, half calculations), hw on cengage every week.Take the class async only if you can self motivate/self pace.Take notes on formulas and definitions because it will help a lot for exams! I took the course as an asynchronous online one, so it definitely lacked many of the traditional aspects of a class- lectures, pop quizzes, etc. Assignments are always given on the first day of class, and all of them are available on Cengage from the time you purchase the textbook online. YOU WILL NEED AN ONLINE COPY WITH CENGAGE.

Go to office hours and you will do very well in the class. Dr. G cares about his students, but you need to go to office hours. Make sure you save all of the equations from lectures and homework! Do all the homework and the extra credit assignments he offers and you will be fine. Exams are almost identical to lectures and homework problems

If you take his online 100 class, it should be a very easy A if you read the book, do the assignments, and take the tests which were open-book. Seemed like a nice professor even though there was minimal interaction outside of announcements.

Took the asynchronous online class and loved it. Practice tests were extra credit and homework could be done on the phone using the cerego app. Tests were open book, straightforward and fairly manageable. Don't miss the weekly hw: those are easy points.

I'm terrible at math so I was worried when taking his stats class, but Prof Gonzales is a really great teacher. He is a good lecturer and his lectures always correlate with his homework and exams. As long as you pay attention in the lectures and do the homework, getting an A is very attainable. two thumbs up!

Prof Gonzales is an outstanding teacher. Very reasonable with tests, homework, and data set grades. If you take one of his hybrid classes, be prepared to read through the textbook and take notes. However, he provides great video tutorials, lectures, and weekly zooms to address the content and student questions. He cares a lot about his students.

This was by far my favorite class my fall semester. Professor Gonzales is an amazing teacher, his lectures are very easy to follow and really helps you get a good understanding of the class. The information wasn't too difficult for me but I took a lot of notes and made sure to do all the homework and watch his videos.

The first math class that I actually was able to learn and catch on to the work. Professor teaches with the intent for students to learn and thrive. I had to drop my stats class last semester with a diff prof. because it was so hard to grasp the lectures but this class made stats so easy and enjoyable. One of the best professors by far!

Dr. Gonzales was amazing and one of my favorite professors ever. His lectures in person and online are super easy to understand and guarantees that you will learn the material. Not required to go in person but it really helps hearing him explain concepts in real time instead of just his lecture videos. 100% recommend.

Great professor! I took him for PSYCA160 and am currently taking PSYCA100. He makes everything super clear and easy to understand. Mandatory textbooks.

I really like this professor, he is very kind and if you are struggling he will find a way to help you. The workload is pretty average, its not an overload of work, just stay consist with it. He provides practice exams that really help you prepare for the real exam.

I usually hate math and I can't understand it but I loved this class. I actually learned and I passed all of my exams. This class is easy to get an A if you put in the work. At first it can be difficult to figure some things out but just watch all the videos on the modules and it will help you throughout the class. This was my favorite class

Prof. Gonzales was great, the lectures are super clear. He always responded to my questions really quickly, often within minutes via email. I am awful at math and I still got an A in this class. I'd take him again for sure.

Prof. Gonzales offers many extra credit opportunities—one before each exam (four in total). The workload for this class isn't bad at all and is easily manageable. He provides insightful lectures for each module, but I personally didn't utilize them often. Just be sure to read through the textbook and take in-depth notes.

Professor Gonzales was incredible! He is very informative and encouraging. I took his class last fall and I still remember the impact he had on my love for psychology. His lectures are fun but also challenging, which was great as a beginner to college. He's super nice and understanding. I highly recommend this professor.

His class is very easy and I learned a lot from it as well! Definitely made me more interesting about psychology.

I'm either gonna end with an A or B in this class. Jarren provides good lectures for the current topics the class will cover. He also has videos online that you can watch on your own time about the covered topics. Tests are taken at home, usually around a 3-4 hour time limit. Multiple choice with last 4 questions being computation responses.
