Jarrod is fantastic professor, as he is trying to pass you so there is no way to fail the class, he grades hard on essays, but thats his job. Class isnt mandatory and hw isnt either, but they help. VERY helpful and very funny guy, hes an excellent professor.

He is amazing at what he does, he really cares about his students and he helped you when it comes to writing alot better, if it wasnt for him; i would never learned how to use a semi colon correctly!

Fantastic professor! He's one hell of a grader, but honestly he's only doing it to help you get by 100 and 110 English. You can rewrite essays all you want for better grades, hes tough but honestly hes a very funny and great guy. Take his class!!

It's a pretty tough class, but it gets so much easier with Jarrod's help! He always makes time for his students. He knows how to break down the material in class so you can understand. Be prepared to write an essay each month during the semester. Do your best & he will notice that. A tough grader, but very understanding. Don't be intimidated!

English is definitely not my favorite, but Jarrod's way of teaching is great. Always gives a good funny story to wake things up, and is always making class a great environment. Gives extra credit at times, and is by far the most helpful English teacher I've met. Wished he taught 110, he doesn't show up to teach, he shows up to help YOU.

Professor Feiner is everything you would want in a professor; moreover he is inviting, compassionate, riveting, and genuinely caring. He is a leader with a servant's heart. During the semester you will be write about 4-5 essays, but the work is worth the while and his feedback will help improve your writing/critical thinking. Take his class!

IN MY OPINION, BEST TEACHER.

He is the most super cool English teacher I ever met. he made sure to turn all the essays . You can rewrite essay as much as you want to get better grade. His midterm and final exam is pass/not. So 75% grade is focus on take home essays. Do well on take home essays means getting A or B is easy to get.

He's coo. Office hours are hella fun. He has a bowl of suckers in his office, they are there for students whenever.

Took this class freshman year. Best professor i've had so far, truely cares about you and wants you to succeed. We probably wrote four or five essays in one semester and had an essay final. Would definitely take again. Also, very psychology oriented, would definitely recommend for psychology majors.

Best professor ever, he deeply cares about his students and encourages them to do well. Do yourself a favor and take him because you will not regret it. He helped me along the whole semester with all my essays and makes class fun to learn.

When I had him for ENGL 110, his class gets really hard and difficult. But when I found out that if you want to get an A for turning in bad essays on time, he will give you multiple revisions on each essays until the end of the semester. When you had a perfect attendance, you dont need to take a final. HE GIVES NO HOMEWORK AT ALL!!! ONLY ESSAYS!!!

Professor Jarrod is by far the BEST teacher I have ever had. I always struggled with English but Jarrod made the subject a lot of fun and easy to understand. Professor Feiner was solid I got an A in his class. I loved how he always fist bumps everyone and says "Glad to see you" every morning before class. He is a great professor and as long as he see's you doing the work, coming to class, and showing that you care Feiner would definitely take that in consideration. If I were you I'd take his class!

By far the best professor I have ever had. If you want a solid professor who cares about you and is understanding he is the best choice. Im not someone who has an easy time learning or gets good grades. With that being said I 100 percent enjoyed his class and was eager to learn. He encouraged me to do my best and I earned my ever first A in school.

Hands down the best English Professor I've ever had! I took him for Engl 100 & 105. He wants you to succeed so he'll go over lecture a few times without being redundant. There's lots of reading & he intentionally keeps the books at a low cost for students. Do the work & you'll get an A. For those complaining they didn't learn, go to a university

If you're someone who struggles in composing an essay, Jarrod is the best prof for u. He may be teaching basic skills like how transitions work, forming your intro, body & conclusion, the use of commas but trust me. I improved a lot! Office hours are worth it! He requires 2.5-4 pages in your essay (due in 3 weeks) and gives such great feedback.

Very responsive and cares about your own success. He will doing everything and anything to make you pass his class. There are two books to read for his class, but are mainly read in class. His class is a steady pace and really chill. Also, he is very generous on late submission, but do please submit them on time! Again highly recommend his class!

As someone who considers themself a proficient writer, I must say that Prof. Feiner has taught me more usable English skills than even the accumulation of five years worth of essay feedback from SFSU professors. This is not an impossible course; however, you will learn to think for yourself, and that, my friends, is as invaluable as it is rare.

Professor Feiner is by far the best educator I have ever had! He made learning so fun and made you understand the material. He is also very personable and shared lots of funny stories which always was a good laugh. No test/quizzes and ver little homework and if there was, it was fairly simple. I highly recommend you take him!

3 ESSAYS. 1 MIDTERM ESSAY. Feiner is very passionate with his work and I admire his principles in life. I think I used more help from him last semester in ENGL 100 since he treated me more of a college student in this course. His discussions mainly focus on the book's context rather than structuring ur essay. But, def visit him in office hours!!!!

He really sets up his students for success if you put in the effort as well. About 3-4 essays at max 4 pages double spaced. 4 books that you'll read, but you can get by from not reading the book and still put up an A-B grade essay. First couple of essays are pass/no pass grade, after it's graded. Top tier professor, would take again 100%.

He always takes care of his students. Please don't be afraid to keep making appointments with him, he is a very kind professor. He will help you to improve your grade by giving you feedback.

This class was easy. As long as you do the work and participate and ask for help when needed you will easily pass this class. I used to hate English before taking this class and now I love English because of him

Only 5 writing assignments (if you don't take the final) and you're allowed as many rewrites as you want. He's extremely flexible, and he'll give you an extension if you just ask. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He will work through everything with you and even grade your paper in front of you. Definitely take Jarrod if you can, he's amazing!

This professor was so welcoming and makes a great learning environment. He makes sure that everyone participates, and everyone talks with all the students in the class. He is very helpful and reasonable when it comes to test and homework.

All the bad reviews are a lie. It's definitely one person on here that got a bad grade. He is very helpful and will give you ideas about your papers. His lectures are fun and entertaining. He genuinely cares about his students and will take the time to help them if needed. The more you participate the better your grade will be.STRONGLY RECOMMEND!!!

Had Jarrod for ENGL105 and ENGL110 and he is so understanding and someone you can feel at ease around. This, however, is a bad thing for me because I know he won't get visibly upset if work is late or missing. He is very talkative and cheerful and encourages everyone to do what they want to. Not too good with organizing his Canvas things, though.

I took Professor Feiner's Class the whole year of 2022 through English 105 and 110. if you take his English 100 or 105, he'll make any essay for you. if you guys are gonna take his 110 class I recommend reading a book so that you could get more details to support the essay :). Just try your best and have fun. Highly recommend taking his class:)

Prof Feiner is a great teacher! He really cares about you passing. He was very detailed in his teachings which helped me, considering I have a learning disability, so he made it easy to approach him with questions and assignments. I'm comfortable in a one-on-one setting, so I appreciated him extending himself with his office hours to help me.

Awesome teacher. Super straightforward and clear about what he wants in each essay. He has very accessible office hours (in person and on zoom) that are really helpful to get an easy A. His grading and canvas is a little confusing but nothing crazy (he doesnt submit any grades until after the final) But I would definitely recommend, hes a cool guy.
