Dr. Williamson just makes sure your get and he will take the time to make sure you do.
I took Dr. Williamson's class over summer, and I must say.. he is a very good teacher and takes the time to explain the material over and over until everyone gets it. His tests are a bit hard, but he lets you make it up with homework, and he makes class and lectures funny! It's easier to get through. If he had another class, I'd take it.
Dr. Williamson is fantastic! He keeps what can be a very boring class, very fun and interesting. He really know his stuff, and it was a pleasure to take his class.
absolutely makes sure u understand material! beats it to death which forces you to learn it. also a h.s. teacher so he kinda dumbs things down which was great because it made the class easier, but i still learned the same material as i would w/ a harder teacher, just in an easier way, which is smart. would recommend him to anyone who hates science
very good teacher. he very funny, easy to talk to, give extra credit, he doesn't make you feel stupid. HE'S AWESOME!!!!
Amazing teacher. Extremely humorous and easy to get along with. Dr. Williamson also makes sure EVERYBODY understands the material before moving forward to the next topic. There are no stupid questions in this class, and you will want to go to it just to see what joke he will come up with next. Very flexible and understanding of student schedules.
he is FUNNY! if u hate chemistry take him...he is really tight... i didnt do good in his class but thats cuz i wasnt studying for the tests at all.. but trust me u can pass like nuthin...just be sure to study...but he makes all the math easy and he makes sure u know how to do the work before he goes on...he uses little tools like lady bug math
he is a teacher who makes it seem like he is really cool with you and your grade is good until the final grade is out and your grade is nothing like he told before!!!! tries to be funny...and repeats all his jokes a million times.... :(
HE IS A VERY FUNNY TEACHER HE IS EXTREMLY HELPFUL AND MAKES CHEMISTRY VERY LOVELY
Mr. Williamson is a great teacher i have him for lab and he is a lot of fun...easy to understand and straight to the point. He is a fun sarcastic teacher that's really easygoing and laid back. If you can take him for lab!
Dr. Williamson is a great, funny teacher, who cares about the integrity and fairness of his class and his tests. His tests are representative of the material he teaches in class. Absolutely, 100% recommended.
Mr. Williams is a nice enuff guy. Tests can be hard if you dont study. But if you read the book and notes, and actually do the homework and practice tests, you will do fine. Occasionally lets you re-take a test if you do bad on one.
STAY AWAY FROM HIS CLASS!!! TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR IF U CAN!!! HES NOT FUNNY AT ALL AND HIS EXAMS ARE HARD. IF YOU WANT TO DO GOOD IN CHEM, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He's a cool down to earth guy, just a bad professor. I managed to get an A but he's not easy. Take another professor if possible. Tests are hard.
Excellent at explaining the material you need to know and if you work at his class you get the grade you deserve. You need to know the material to do well on his exams, but his practice exams and his real exams are similar. If you know it, you will do well.
Mr. Williams did a great job and preparing us without lowering his standards. If you knew the lecture, homework, and practice tests, you did well. At the end of the semester the class average was 78%, and 60% of the class had a B or higher. 'Nuff said. Take him if you want to get prepared.
If you want an easy grade, he is not the professor for you. If you want to learn and get prepared, and are willing to work for it, then you need to take him. By the end of the semester, 60% of our class had A's or B's, and the class average was 78%, and you did that well because you earned it.
Dr. W is a clear, straightforward teacher that expects you to earn your grade. By the time of the final, the class average was somethin' like 78% and more than half the class had A' and B's. Wanna learn and get prepared and willing to earn it, take him. Nice guy too.
I really really liked this professor. he was funny in a corny way, repeated material if anyone needed it. explained material very thoroughly. you have to do the homework and practice tests if you want to do well. dont miss class. he is very nice and wants you to do well but wont lower is standards to enable you. i recommend his class to anyone.
I really enjoyed his class. If you are willing to work hard and do what he asks you to, i.e. homework, you will do fine in his class.
THE BEST PROF I'VE HAD AT RCC!! He's pretty funny. Get him on tangents about his kids and other things =, its funny. He makes you work! No partial credit on exam questions; but for a nurse, partially right doesn't cut it! He will make sure you get the material. Great guy, I recommended him to everyone i knew that needed chem.
Took his course last summer. He teaches the material well but you need the book knowledge to back up lectures. I tried to balance full time work and school and it didnt happen. If you have the time and effort you should get a good grade in this class.
This teacher is so cool and fairly easy as long as you pay attention. He explains the material super well and makes sure you get it. He is very helpful and very funny. He makes the class intersting and keeps you interested. I would recommend him for any chemistry class.BELIEVE ME before him i had the hardest chem teacher and there is no comparison.
Dr. Ay Chihuahua!!!!
Best Chemistry professor hands down. He's engaging, brings the information down to anyones level, and will take the time to help. He's funny, and probably the sexiest man I've ever met in my life.
he is sososososo funny, and he is really patient...take his chem 2A and 1A,very helpful teacher, best teacher i've ever seen..love his class so much~~
Dr. Williamson is a great chemistry professor. his teaching style is similar to to any professor. he will lecture briefly then guide you through some example, with the expectation that one will go home and practice. if you do there should be no reason why you dont pass his class with an A like me
Awesome teacher, I had him for lecture and lab, this summer. Highly recommend to you do the same if possible. He is very helpful and patient. However, he will not do the work for you, he wants you to use your brain. Do the homework and take good notes and you will do well. Be prepared to laugh in his class as well...=^)
he's soooooo nice. Teaches clearly and very funny too. often cracks up jokes while teaching which makes it interesting and delightful. knows his stuff and it's application in the real world :)
Awesome!!! Definitely would recommend him to others!
Hard professor. Teaches clearly, wants students to do well, but don't take him unless you are willing to work and understand the material. If you are willing to work, then you should do well.
If you are looking for the easy A, go somewhere else. If you want a prof who will clearly explain things and make sure that you truly understand the material then look no further. He is funny and engaging during lectures. Took him over summer while working 40+ hours a week and never once fell asleep during lecture. Love this guy!
I went to his class today and i loved it sooo much! i hated chemistry in high school and i learned more in one day in his class then i ever did in hs chem. he is so funny and makes everything very easy to understand. he seemed like a cool guy but unfortunately the lab instructor wouldnt let me add in :( im so bummed!
so easy. if you do the work you can pass with an A. very interesting and lectures are fun. take this class
Funny guy... But a fast pace, bad professor...doesn't take time to explain if you are lost...
He is a great professor! He provides easier methods to understand the material. He is willing to help you if you don't understand. if you don't speak up when you are lost and he moves on that is your problem. he is very friendly and useful in office hours. i highly reccommend him!
Good professor overall. Gives interesting and engaging lectures, always relates the material to the real world. Reasonable workload. Tests fall in between easy and hard. He is helpful and approachable. One thing that is annoying about him is that he incessantly spouts Republican talking points. It gets pretty obnoxious.
Def not a boring professor! Makes chemistry easy to understand, and comes up with his own ways to teach the basics! There are 4 major tests based on class notes, and textbook, 1 final, and a couple of quizzes. Does offer extra credit. As long as you read the chapter, come to class and take notes, there is no reason why you can't get an A.
This is a hard class. Period. that said, Dr. Williamson does his best to break things down so that they are much easier to understand. Does not believe in powerpoint which I loved! Funny and interesting, he keeps you awake in lecture and he is fun during labs. Only problem is he will make you stay the entire lab period with worksheets and quizzes
A++ teacher would recommend to others. Dr Williamson is the epitome of a true man. He is charming, funny, witty, and smart. His class is very straight forward, it is very easy to achieve an A+. If you do not understand the test he will work out the problems with you until you get the correct answer. He also baked us brownies on the final.
This class is hard, and his tests are hard. But if you study an master the material, you will do well. Prof doesn't grade based on effort, and he expects you to think for yourself. He won't just spoon feed you.
Had Dr. W last year for 1B. You really have to know the stuff to do good. If you don't, the tests will be hard. But if you study and can do the homework and relly get it, you get a good grade. I got into UCLA because of him and a letter from him.
Hard class. He doesn't make it any easier. Lectures are very clear, but they don't cover the hard stuff on tests. It almost seems like he tries to trick you on the midterms with questions he didn't teach about. Easy grader on labs. Funny guy, just doesn't have a teaching style that I like. IF you go home and read the chapters, you should be good.
He is a very awesome teacher, always with funny stories during lectures. But his tests are very hard. If you don't read the book then you wont pass. His tests are hardly on the lecture. But if he says "remember this" then it will definitely be on the test. Labs are graded easily luckily.
Fantastic professor. His tests are HARD but will push you to do your best. Don't miss lectures, do the homework (then do it again), and turn in all your COMPLETED labs, and you'll do great. I wish I could have had him for CHE-1A.
Funny professor! His lectures were generally pretty easy to understand and with the competitiveness of pre-med students, he does ease that stress off with his jokes and cute stories about his wife. He's definitely one of my favorite teachers here at RCC.
He is the greatest chem professor you will ever have. He has a passion for what he teaches. He keeps things interesting by throwing in stories about his life. He makes sure all his lectures include relevant life applications. He covers everything you need to know in lecture, but read the book anyway. It helps on tests which are relatively easy
Professor Williamson is a really nice guy over all. He may get carried away sometimes with all the stories but I'd rather have that than a boring teacher, which he definitely is not. He's extremely clear while lecturing. His tests are a little hard so do ur hw like ur hand is about to fall off. Dont be afraid to ask questions. I'd take him again.
This professor is hard as freak! But he is a very good one too. Pay Attention, READ THE TEXTBOOK, and DO ALL the HOMEWORK and make sure you understand everything. He puts questions on the test that has not been covered in class, but are in the textbook. If you need help, he has office hours (SEE HIM, don't wait)! Extra Credit, maybe if he wants too.
I liked how he taught the class however he gets WAY off topic and carried away with his examples and he lets students interrupt him easily. he doesn't quiz much during the semester and his tests are hard. so READ AND DO THE HOMEWORK. its optional and you don't turn it. his tests are a big percentage of the grade.
Dr Williamson is an extremely good teacher. He uses analogies when teaching, and it's clear his desire it to have the students learn. He can sometime get sidetracked by his own jokes/stories. You are required to work outside of class to succeed. If you plan on going into Chem 2b/1a then this would be an excellent starting point.
Dr. Williamson is awesome! He is really clear in his instructions during lab and makes chemistry easy to learn and apply. The tests and quizzes are straightforward which is really nice. He makes jokes so the class isn't boring, but he doesn't waste your time either. Overall, he makes it a good class to take.
Dr. Williamson is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had &Chemistry is easily my all time least favorite subject. He is very helpful and wants students to succeed in his class. Do your homework and study a lot.. his tests are hard. If you get the opportunity to have him as your professor.. jump at the chance. Wonderful teacher.
Dr. Williamson is one of the best teachers I have ever had! Take him if you get the chance. The class is hard so study a lot and do homework. He is hilarious and makes chemistry interesting.
Dr. Williamson is totally adorable and funny! He is a great teacher! Makes chemistry not AS boring.
He teaches to the letter of the textbook, with one exception. His lab method brings out his engineering background. He requires introductions to the lab (before class), organization of data, and thoughtful analysis regarding the outcomes.
Great professor, took him 3 times and enjoyed it. chemistry isnt easy so its still a tough class, but he is good at teaching and just expects u put in the same effort he does. i would reccommend studying 2 hours a night for this class
Study read do homework ask be student Don't wait for him to scop it for u he is Funny and helpful exams hard but u ll get it with studdying.
Lectures are extremely entertaining. Makes chem as clear as possible utilizing analogies that help the clarity of the content. Hard though. Hard tests. Study, study, study. This is my fav kind of professor. Doesn't pass people based on effort. Grades on subject mastory. You will know your stuff when you leave here. A perc for any science major.
Pretty cool, and uses lots of analogies to make sure everyone understands. Not the easiest class out there, but he's one of the cooler professors on campus. Homework isn't turned in, but DO IT anyways. Lectures are enjoyable, and he truly likes what he does. One extra credit assignment. Make sure you understand what you say, not just repeating it.
He is definitely one of my favorite professors ever. He is super funny and a big sweetheart. His quizzes were cake but his tests were kind of tough, especially towards the end of the semester. The lab was pretty hard some days and he really likes to challenge you and won't just give you the answer. He does care though. I recommend him for anyone.
Professor Williamson is one of the few caring professors you will find in college. He is very funny and he keeps class interesting. The tests are based on the homework and the lecture. If you read the chapters before class and study the notes and homework, you will do well on the test. Stay ahead in class, or you can expect to fail.
His tests aren't necessarily easy, however he does care a lot about his students. Honestly, he was the first professor I have had that cares this much about your learning and is very understanding. He not only teaches well but also is very keen to listen to feedback from students and is constantly asking if his lecture was clear.
Dr. Williamson is an AWESOME teacher and his stories memorable. Funniest teacher I have ever had, hands down! This is a tough class though, be sure to study as much as you possibly can and take good notes.
He is a GEEAT teacher. He cares that he is clear and will ask. He provides lectures for every learner. He tells you, shows you, then has you do problems. He gives many analogies that are very helpful. You can tell he really cares. Although you don't have to, I suggest you DO THE HW. It will help you a lot. I want to take him again for another class
if you didnt take this guy from chem 2A you will be destroyed his standards are waaay harder than any teacher youll take he expects you to have mastered chemistry basically before taking his class which is crazy considering its just 1A. Labs are pure stress he wont help you its basically do it on your own heres the instructions so you will struggle
The most engaging chem teacher I've had so far. Energetic and funny in class. Teaches from the book which makes it easy to go back and read the concepts. Truly cares that you learn and understand the material. Wants you to succeed! Definitely not an easy course, you really have to study and pay attention but he teaches things on a level that helps.
Dr. Williamson is a real gem. He genuinely cares about his students. He is here to help you if you ask and show interest. Study regularly and don't let things pile up or else you'll have hard time. He expects you to master a certain set of skills and he teaches you those skills. The HW is not a must but do it. One my favorite classes so far!
Ciao! I love him so much!!! AMAZING professor! Really loves his Italian people! :) I would take him for Chem1B If I could. Do ALL of the homework, attend every single lecture, take good, clear notes and you will get an A. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do great. He's honestly a blessing and an honor to take a class from! Grazie
Professor Williamson is always able to tie his lecture to real life applications. Although he did not cover deeply on many topics, his tests always reflect that. Easy to get an A in his class.
one of the very few professors that do care that there students do well in his course. I took Mr. Williamson for 2a and now for 1A and would definitely take for other chem classes whatever he offers. HIs grading criteria is clear, do the homework (optional) and if you do not understand a concept he is more then willing to answer your questions
Dr. Williamson (and he will remind you that he is a doctor of chemical engineering consistently) looks a little gruff on the outside but is a kind guy inside. He's funny, tries to apply material to real life, and cares about your learning. He makes a hard class seem easier, and he tests on what he teaches. Do the reviews he gives. Would take again.
He is a great professor but the material is hard. He has a tough character but he is also very cool and hilarious. Don't be late or he'll give you a hard time! Pay attention in class. DO THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS, they can literally be test problems.
Williamson is a cool teacher but he is not easy. The tests are hard because he teaches the basic concepts and then tests on the complex. His lab is not too bad but he's also not extremely helpful. He wants you to figure problems out on your own, which is the best way of learning, but this often leads students to never learn the concepts.
Homework not collected but do it for practice & they may even be test questions! Lab is hands on, don't expect him to guide you through everything so make sure to read all lab procedures. 3 tests with some free response ?s, final is multiple choice. He really cares that students understand the material & makes it bearable. Highly recommend!
The material's hard, but Dr. W makes it as easy as possible. Lecture was explaining concepts, solving lots of problems, answering questions. Tests were taken from lectures and the homework. First exam was all odd numbered homework that were just like he solved in class! Lab quizzes were straight from lab. Work realy hard and you'll do good.
Just took the first test. It was tough, but professor Williams covered everything on it with lots example problems. He seemed strict at first, but hell help you anytime and is actually a sweetie. Just study and come prepared and everything on his test I saw worked out before.
Very clear. Tells you exactly what he expects. Does lots of problems. Tests of lecture, book, and homework. Do the homework! He's a tough tester but very nice but demanding. Just do your part and study HARD.
Do yourself a favor and take professor Williamson. He's a really funny and honest teacher, and you'll actually learn. He's really particular about labs, but the labs are really fun. If you're taking 1B, you're probably in a serious science related major, so taking prof. Williamson's class will be especially beneficial for you.
Professor Williamson is very smart and knows his stuff. Hes just not very organized in relaying the information back to students. Homework problems appear on the exams but he assigns too many homework problems for us to actually be successful. He is accessible during office hours but email him ahead of time because hes not always there.
I took General Chem II with Williamson. It is known to be a difficult chem class. Dr. Williamson could be a little more clear as a professor. There is so much homework assigned and only 2/90 hwk questions appear on the exam. Lecture is not organized, but he does teach based on the book and the book is very self explanatory so that helps!
My favorite professor so far. Teaches super clear, lots of examples, and the exams are based on lecture and homework. Study and you'll do good.
The absolute best chemistry teacher! All the stories and jokes he tells relates to what we're learning. It helped me to remember. His test aren't easy. Study and do the hw, and you'll do well. The quizzes he gives are easy points. I really did enjoy everyday in his class, he's that good of a teacher! I got a D but it WASN'T because of his teaching.
This is a difficult class for many. Dr. Williamson is extremely organized in terms of logically explaining a concept. He thoroughly goes through every type of problem (even giving you time to try, fail, then learn from him). Every problem on test is either from lecture or in hw. Final is much more easier than any single midterm. Strongly recommend
Took CHE1B with him at winter session and was one of the most classes I enjoyed taking. Awesome professor, Amazing lectures, Fair tests, and learned a lot more than just Chemistry. I highly recommend taking Dr. Williamson (he is AMAZING)!!!!
Dr Williamson is a great Professor. The tests are just like lecture and hw problems. He cares about each student and hes really funny too. (Not pronounced iodYne its iodEEn) he doesnt make the class too difficult since Che1B is already hard enough. TAKE HIM, you wont regret it. Yes, you have to work for an A but its not impossible!
Professor Williamson is one of the most amazing professors here at RCC. He is so respected, gives amazing lectures, cares about his students, and tests fairly. I recommend him so much.
This professor is funny and nice. Specific things he states in lecture and some of the homework appears on the test. This makes it seem like the tests are easy, but they're NOT! He is a very tough grader and you have to do things his way or he will give you a 0. I liked that he was great at explaining things so ask for help.
I enjoyed taking this class all because of Prof. Williamson. His lectures are engaging and fun. Chemistry isn't as hard when you take it with him. He takes his time to explain concepts and even uses real world experiences to help the concepts sink into your brain better. I would definitely recommend him. Don't be afraid to speak up in class.
Professor Williamson is a solid professor. You really have to study to do well. Tests are straightforward but you have to know you're stuff. If you go to his office hours he really help you, but won't just give you the answers. He is straightforward about what he expects. Definitely recommend if your willing to put in the time to study.
took che1b in the winter. this is not a class you can cram for especially in the winter. i failed the first test bc i thought i could cram. after tweaking my study routine, i ended up with an a. you need to spend hours studying every day if youre taking in the winter or summer. but hes a great and funny professor. i liked him and his teaching style
He claims his videos are clear but theyre really not. Hes very strict when it comes to EVERYTHING. Doesnt really answer his emails. Book is more help than him.
Dont take his class. I had an A but had to drop because hes such an unorganized professor, consistently messed up on instructions. Mandatory handwritten notes, lab reports unclear instruction, and exam(tough grading). Makes you graph over 100 points on metric graph paper. If youre smart in chem, youll do well. If you want easy A, this not for u
Loves saying that although this is an online chemistry class, it will not be watered down. Ok but were in the middle of a worsening pandemic and yet thinks that there should be no difference in the retention in difficult material. Very picky grader. Uses lockdown browser on open notes exams. Labs are often unclear. Mandatory handwritten notes.
I do not recommend taking him for chem 2a. He is not very helpful and if things aren't done the specific way he wants them done then you will lose a lot of points. He is also very forgetful and does not do what he says he will (ex: he was supposed to drop our lowest test score and never did, which a lot of students suffered from)
Open note tests but you need to know the material. Textbook homework is optional but definitely recommended. Office hours were super helpful. 3 major exams w/ mix of mc & free response, final was all mc. Textbook reading is key for getting an A, a lot of lecture videos & were long. Sadly, he didn't drop our lowest test score so I didn't get an A :(
Notes had to be handwritten, but can be used on exams. He makes you go on a lockdown browser when taking the tests, there are 3 tests & the final. Final did feel easier than the 3 tests & he's very specific on both the tests & labs. He has a pdf of practice problems that aren't required, but I recommend doing them. Office hours are very helpful.
Gives way too much unnecessary busy work. I would rather have practice problems, but thats just me. If Chemistry and Math come easy to you, you will have no problem. If you struggle in Chemistry, please choose another Prof. Although he is kind of cool and fun he is a big stickler for detail and sig figs.
If you take the class seriously and do what he tells you to do, you'll do fine. If you try to short cut the process by not studying, or studying at the last minute, you won't do well. He tells you exactly how he's going to grade and shows you exactly how to do it. If you just do that, you'll do fine.
Seemingly likes to waste your time by locking pdfs with a password, making you rewrite your work for exams, etc. Has an illogical ruleset for graphing, he wants it tailored to his liking instead of it being easily legible and simple to plot data. Recorded lectures are hard to follow as he uploads in poor quality along with his birds always chirping
Great professor. Was always accommodating and made sure to keep in contact with his students. Made the semester a lot less stressful, and chemistry more enjoyable!
He doesn't ask you to do homework. It's up to you if you solve any practice problems from textbook. Instead, you will submit lecture notes for every class. He doesn't let you use Excel for lab, and you are supposed to write data or graph by hand. Overall, he knows his stuff and is exceptional at teaching. You'll learn a lot if you take his class.
Dr. Williamson is really good at explaining and teaching different concepts. He is clear and direct to the point. I wish I had him in person tho because his birds were always chirping in a lot of his lecture videos which got annoying a lot. Midterms were mainly free-response, but his final is all MC. Overall he is a good professor and helpful.
He gives three exams and a final. The exams and final were open notes and book. He curved two of the three exams, and even dropped the lowest exam and dropped the two lowest labs. If he missed office hours, he made them up. His lectures are clear (the birds do get loud). If you can't pass this class, it's your fault.
He's very helpful, and funny, if you go to office hours.
He seems really hard at first, until you realize he tells you exactly what you need to know. Like he says, if you can explain any concept or solve any assigned homework without your notes, then your ready for the exams. When he says graphs must be done a certain way HE MEANS IT!
He's strict, until you realize he's only asking you to do what your supposed to do. If you do that, then you'll get a decent grade if your willing to do the work the right way. He tells you exactly how to do it.
Gives you the flexibility to skip lecture if you want, but youv really have to study and keep up. Or you won't do good.
I enjoyed Dr. Williamsons class. The lectures were clear and made easy to understand giving the student the ability to learn the material why enjoying it as well. This class was full of tough material but its chemistry, he would be available through email if you had any questions etc overall great class.
Dr. Williamson is such an amazing professor! he cares about all of his students, he tells you exactly what you need to know from each chapter and his lectures are very useful, his labs also are very enjoyable. However, this is an advanced class so be ready to spend lots of time and effort on notes, HW, and labs' reports if you need an A.
I like what he says, "I'll tell you what I'm going to tell you, then I tell you, then I tell you what I told you." If you just do your homework a bunch of times, and pay attention in lecture, you'll know what to expect on exams.
I would advice you to be mentally prepared for his class because you have to heavy rely on the book for the material and you have to pay close attention to what he says in lecture or you WILL fail. His exams are structured very weird because he wants things written HIS EXACT way or he will mark you wrong. His labs are easy and hw isn't graded.
All you have to do is what he asks of you: know the notes, do the homework over and over until you get it, and prepare for the labs. Honestly, if you don't get a good grade in his class, it's because you won't do what you're supposed to do for a five unit science class.
I took professor in Spring of Chem1A and he was amazing. I was nervous of taking chem because i am not a science major but he is really caring and wants you to learn. He teaches and breaks down the material and then tests you on it. Nothing scary. To be be able to pass is to study hard. I will def take him again. Hilarious too.
Pay attention during lecture. Will tell you what you need to know for tests. A hard subject, but he makes it easier to understand, with humor. Do the homework problems because the test questions will be very similar. Ask how to solve hard homework problems because he may test on those. Overall, a great instructor, who wants to help his students.
Usually curves grades. Make sure to do homework problems. They will be similar to test questions. Go to office hours if you can because he gives more detail about what to expect for the exams.
Hes really nice and cares about his students, but you have to work really hard to. Do. The. Homework! If you need help, ask! He'll help you.
Professor is a really nice guy who helps his students. But you have to do your part and study a lot. His letter of recommendation helped me get into Loma Linda.
Your grade will reflect your dedication to this class! He is very clear of his expectations during lab and tests. His lectures are on whiteboard, so have good note taking skills. Follow instructions correctly, study the hw problems, and you will do well.
Dr. Williamson is much more lenient and kind professor then most people give him credit for, and he rounds most test.
After each exam, he went over the test key and showed where each question came from the homework thst he solved in class, or stuff he said to make sure you know. Gives extensions on lab deadlines if you don't ask to often. If you can't do this class, your just not willing to work.
This professor doesn't use PowerPoint and because of that, it can be challenging to know what chapters you are being tested on. He only uses a whiteboard and for lectures, there are only exams. He has his rude moments pretty often. Make sure to do the exam practice problems. Show up and ask questions and he will answer. Overall 6/10. For me.
Teach things once and cram things, expecting you to know automatically. The homework is optional and gives a decent amount of time in the lab. Plenty of office hours. Will give you an extension, he is fair. Our class for both times and all exams scored so low but curved it. Need to teach self.
Professor williamson is a good professor however his exams are way different than what he talks about in lectures, he always try to put some questions to trick you, exams were very hard and his final exam was very long with not enough time to finish it. he is a nice and kind person super funny but exams are heavy.
This is not a professor to take if you wish to UNDERSTAND/MASTER chemistry. i say this because Dr. Truttman covered so much more details and explained the "why". Williamson is good, he will help, he explains to extents and he avoids super tough questions on exams because he cares. overall good in using analogies to help understanding the material
Professor is a sexy man-beast.
I wouldn't recommend taking this professor if you already have a hard time in STEM classes. Relied heavy on you to read through the textbook prior to the class. I feel like my classmates and I had to self-teach the material. Lab was also very lengthy. Gets sidetracted easily.
Don't really understand the ones complaining. If you dont understand something its highly crucial you ASK ASK ASK!!! DONT BE SCARED BECAUSE YOURE NOT THE ONLY ONE. He may come off tough but hes secretly a softie. I HIGHLY recommend you go to the one-on-one/group tutoring. Barely read any chapters bc Id ask the tutors what I didn't understand.
at first he can be kinda scary but actually he is a nice person and has a good taste of music (if you see this, dr williamson). besides, professor indeed is a sexy man beast.
Seems tough at first, but honestly a very caring professor. Curves tests by a decent amount, funny asf, and very understanding. Rounded my grade which I am beyond thankful for (if you see this Professor Williamson tysm) 10/10 would recommend fr :)
Prof. Williamson has been one of my favorites professors I've taken at RCC. The way he teaches is efficient and easy to understand. He effortlessly inserts his great humor into his lecture and labs and made everyday memorable. There were of course some tough concepts of course, bc of the nature of the course, but he is always willing to help you
If you're going to take this class, be ready to study at least 20 hours.. because that's the only way you're going to pass ngl. Also, try to make friends with other students in class, especially the smart ones. That will beneficial since you'll likely be teaching yourself a lot of the time.
Fairly easy and the tests get curved but if you have difficulty with chemistry I would recommend that you get tutoring or get help from the professor. This course requires you to do self-study and teach yourself some of the material. Also if you want to be proficient in Chemistry I wouldn't recommend this teacher as some concepts get glossed over.
He is not very good at explaining chemistry. I was lost day 1. He's super funny and caring guy though. He will explain how something works once or twice then just do a bunch of examples without really explaining. Long exams when the class is like 1 hour long. To be fair I suck at chemistry to begin with but he did not help at all.
Lectures can be challenging, but the professor is fair and helpful. Doing the homework and attending office hours are key. unstuck study and the free textbook made studying more manageable. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the work.
He is funny, lenient, and willing to help if you ask. However, if you genuinely want to learn/master chemistry, take a different teacher. He lectures slow and doesn't fully explain concepts. He always goes off on a tangent & talks a lot about unrelated stuff, which made us fall behind the entire semester. His exams are too long for the time given.
Funny professor but he takes extremely long to cover the first few chapters. Oftentimes he would cover only a few slides per class, then once the semester is about to end he zooms through everything. Self-study is important and is the reason why I was able to get an A in the class, and B's on all the tests minus one.
Very understanding and not to hard of a class. Watch videos he has he explains everything very well
Always cheerful and really fair. Tests are hard unless you do the book hwk. Really helpful in office hours. Lenient about late labs if you ask and don't do it too much.
Dr. Williamson is very knowledgeable and helpful when he explains things from both the lab and the lecture. However, he writes with a mouse on a whiteboard computer program, and it's slower than conventional markers. He does suffer from chronic pain due to a condition, so he probably couldn't stand or write for a long time.He values honesty as well
He is the worst chemistry professor i've had in my 2 years at RCC. Just merely passing his class was a nightmare. It's outrageous how the faculty supervisors at RCC are still allowing him to teach with his very old methods of teaching. You basically have to teach everything yourself or use tutoring and youtube he does nothing to help you.
unserious at times, however, very understanding teacher who gives students the benefit of the doubt. note card for every exam and for the final, a page front and back of notes. He helped review some old topics and tried to prepare us for O chem. His teaching methods are old but he is a good teacher who cares about education. 2nd fav chem teacher
This hoe sucks! These bum ass male professors.
Pretty sure he's racist towards Latinx people. Had to drop because he couldn't teach and every time I asked him a question he looked like he didn't want to help me. Always answered me with short responses when he always takes forever to answers other students (women). Always in a mood. Oh, and he's super weird towards women. Hobbit looking ass.
Horrible piece of shit.
Horrible "professor" he allegedly has a doctorate, but I can't even tell. He so gross towards the female students. And if you're not his favorite, don't expect him to treat you with respect.
Almost believed I was dumb by the way he treated me the whole semester. When I asked him a question, he made me feel like I should know the answer. A professor has never made me feel so small. Beware if you take him.
Be careful when you ask him questions, he gets in a mood. He so emotional, he needs to learn how to control his emotions, not let his emotions control him. Overall, he sucks at explain Chem. Sucks, he definitely let me down for a professor with a doctorate. I guess anyone can get one. NOW, that's motivation that anyone can go get their degree! 🥳
Leaving a review just because the recent reviews are a terrible representation of him. I came to lecture every single day to learn the material and sat directly in front of him every single day. Professor Williamson has nothing but the utmost respect for female students and religions of every kind. Please do not leave false reviews as he's the best
Great sense of humor, LOVES guitars and Led Zeppelin, Professor Williamson is the type of teacher that reminds you why you love your major. When you ask him questions, he carefully takes out paper and explains it to you with written examples. The exams questions are mostly from lecture or lab, and on top of that, he curves the exams to further help
Class is made up of mainly exams, but if you come to lecture and pay attention, do the labs, and study for them (like you're supposed to) you'll find this class and Professor Williamson to be a blessing. He uploads all lecture slides, curves exams, takes exam questions directly from lecture, AND gives you a cheat sheet, what more can you want?
Checking to see if you should take Professor Williamson? Without a doubt. He emphasizes at the beginning that his class will require effort (as does every class) and boy is he right. He grades off of whether or not you understand the material, I got a question wrong completely but my work was correct and I still got full credit. Take him, trust me.
Not sure what all the negative reviews are on about, I have nothing but immense respect for this man. Extremely respectful towards ALL students, approachable, and empathetic. Gave us cheat sheets, curved the finals, AND provided a study guide for each exam QUESTION BY QUESTION.
One of the first professors you can tell actually loves his job. He grades extremely lenient and curves exams, he gives out cheat sheets and takes exam questions directly from lecture or lab (so go to class!) and is genuinely such a kind and caring soul. Please don't listen to the other ratings, it's more than likely the one student that got an F.
Took this class over the summer and he warned us at the beginning the course would go fast and be difficult, but honestly he's such a great professor that I couldn't even tell he was rushing. Everything was explained clearly and thoroughly and if he can do that during the summer course, you can believe you'll know more than enough during the Fall.
Clearly respects all students, on top of being a great lecturer, you can tell he's the type of professor that didn't get into teaching for the paycheck, but he genuinely loves his job. Tells the funniest stories and jokes and loves Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, etc. Just make sure not to ask him where babies come from!
Best. Professor. Ever. Honestly before this I was questioning whether or not I even wanted to go down the pre-med path. After taking Williamson's class, I was instantly reminded why I started my science major pathway. Labs are super interesting and if you pay attention to lecture, the labs in a way reinforce what he teaches, making class super fun.
Always dreamed of using chemicals like a mad scientist in lab, this class is the class to do it, PLEASE be careful though, the lab that uses 15M Ammonium will take ANYONE out, and i mean ANYONE. On top of super interesting labs, he's such a genuine and legitimate professor, do yourself a favor and take Williamson, you'll look forward to his class.
I always thought chemistry would be dry, but Williamson made it feel like a magic show! His demonstrations are legendary – honestly, he should get an award for making the periodic table exciting. He has this incredible way of explaining complex reactions that just clicks. Plus, he's just a genuinely good human being.
Seriously, if you need to take chemistry, Williamson is your guy. He doesn't just lecture; he tells stories and somehow integrates them into the material, making everything stick. I was nervous about the lab component, but he walks you through everything so clearly. His passion for the subject is infectious, and it helped me stay motivated.
This class was a revelation! Williamson isn't just a professor; he's a mentor. He has a fantastic sense of humor, often cracking jokes that perfectly lighten the mood without detracting from the learning. He really cares that you understand the material, not just memorize it. He's also super approachable, so don't be afraid to ask questions.
You hear stories about professors who can change your academic path, and Williamson is one of them. He doesn't just teach chemistry; he shows you its relevance and beauty. His lectures are always well-structured, clear, and peppered with his unique brand of humor. He respects every student's effort and creates a fantastic learning environment.
"If you're dreading chemistry, take Williamson's class and watch that dread disappear. He makes even the most intimidating concepts digestible, and his energy in the lecture hall is genuinely contagious. Honestly, he's the reason I even considered a minor in chemistry. He's truly one of a kind!
I signed up for Williamson's chemistry class based on a friend's recommendation, and it was the best academic decision I've made. He's not just teaching from a textbook; he's showing you how chemistry impacts the real world, often with hilarious and memorable examples. Plus, his taste in classic rock is impeccable.
Williamson's chemistry class is an absolute must-take. His labs are incredibly well-designed and so much fun – you actually get to do chemistry, not just read about it. He explains everything with such clarity and patience, making complex reactions seem simple. It's rare to find a professor who is both brilliant and genuinely cares about teaching.
Don't walk, run to enroll in Professor Williamson's chemistry section! He has an amazing ability to break down the most complicated topics into understandable pieces, and his enthusiasm for the subject is infectious. You'll find yourself actually looking forward to chemistry class. This is the professor you'll talk about for years after graduation.
Coming into this class, I was pretty intimidated by chemistry, but Professor Williamson completely changed my perspective. His lectures are always engaging, filled with witty remarks and fascinating real-world applications. Take his class; you'll not only grasp chemistry but also gain a deep appreciation for it.
Williamson's chemistry class isn't just a requirement; it's an experience. He makes even the most complex reactions feel like a puzzle you're excited to solve. The labs are fantastic, and he's always walking around, offering help and cracking jokes. If you want a professor who genuinely loves what he does and makes you love it too, take Williamson.
I thought I'd just get through chemistry, but Professor Williamson made me enjoy it. His explanations are incredibly clear, and he uses real-world examples that make the material relevant. He's got this incredible energy that keeps you engaged, even during longer lectures. He's also super fair with grading and clearly wants everyone to succeed.
If you're looking for a chemistry class that's anything but boring, Williamson is your professor. He manages to infuse humor and genuine enthusiasm into every lesson. The lab portion is incredibly hands-on and educational, you actually feel like you're doing real science. He's always available for questions and makes sure everyone understands.
Professor Williamson is simply the best. He has a unique way of simplifying difficult concepts without dumbing them down. You can tell he truly cares about his students and wants them to grasp the material, not just memorize it for a test. His passion for chemistry is inspiring, and he creates such a positive and encouraging learning environment.
I guess I had a different experience with this profesor. He was so intimidated to talk to and when I did, he never sat down with me to explain it on paper! Overall, a hard class to take because I had to teach myself. And he wastes class about this favorite subjects.
A caring professor that wants his students to succeed. Don't be intimidated first day, he's a kind grader and lectures at a comfortable speed to understand everything. Approachable during lab, willing to answer any question. Def take if you can!
Many biased reviews. Never felt he was racist or sexist. Very caring prof. Made a huge effort to help people pass Exams are very difficult , but chem is difficult. Tests are curved, very fairly. I found his lectures confusing and a bit boring, he does use more old school styles of teaching, so expect to spend a lot of time studying on your own.
He gets sidetracked very easily! His lectures are not informative and very basic. However, when it comes to assignments, they are very in depth. So you feel so lost!! You have to self-teach yourself for this course. Don't recommend him!
Well..he gets side tracked so easily. Always goes on about other things not related to the course. Wants you to read the book-which you will need to if you take him because he doesn't cover enough during lec. Exams are hard but allows a note card. Is intimidating-at least to me. And I suspect he writes his own reviews but who knows.
I took this class because I failed Che 2A the first time around . He was really funny and great professor , but lectures are compact and he is test heavy. Very caring when it comes to students , and if you go see him during office hours, he can help out a lot if needed.
I'll start by saying that all the positive reviews you're seeing of this professor are manipulated. He's very old fasioned in his way of teaching and doesnt use powerpoints. All he uses is a mouse to write crookedly. Attending his lectures is 100% useless, you have to use youtube and teach yourself everything. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
The most racist and sexist professor I've ever seen in my 2 years here at RCC. He's very unfair, grades harshly and has great favoritism towards students and always gets upset and make you feel dumb when you come to him with questions. (He's also really weird and gross towards women and girls) I have no idea how they're allowing him to teach!!!
One of the best chem professors I've had as a STEM major. He gave extra credit, explained exactly what he would ask on exams (3) + final, and was super approachable throughout the entire semester. He answered all questions during lecture, took his time explaining labs even after telling us to read beforehand, and was super lenient in grading them.
Teaching wise he was really tough on grading and grades based on favoritism. Tests are heavy and hard on grade. His class made me feel very uncomfortable with the way he is with female students. No professor should be talking about his s** life to his students nor be invasive of your personal life. He is also racist and sexist towards women.
