This class is pretty basic, its called a "lab", and worth 4 credits, but there really isnt any lab work. He uses the text book for EVERYTHING, the in-class work and notes for quizzes and tests. However, all the notes you'll ever need he posts on blackboard as powerpoints. He's a cool sarcastic guy, class can get boring, but its not all that hard.

This is a tough class, but you couldn't ask for a better instructor. Professor Adams is extremely knowledgeable, tough, and fair. You will work to get an A, but it can be done with strong effort.

totally agree with the other comment. Fun guy, makes class interesting. Lots of ways to earn points if test taking is not your thing. (wasn't mine)downfall is test grading, lots of material to know. 1/2 of test is short answer essay, drawing/diagram. totally recommend him though!

Failed normal biology since the teachers at cod are not good. But passed in Adams class. I was in the 5 hr, 1 day a week class and for some weird reason actually looked forward to this class. Seriously awesome professor. Yes his tests can be difficult but if you study everything on his "review days" you will be golden.

Mr Adams was a GREAT teacher! Micro isn't something I was looking forward to but he made it fun & interesting.Tests are definitely not easy but he gives ouot study guides & those are primarily the whole test. I took him in an 8 week summer class & still got a good grade! Extra points can be earned by the other assignments given. Lab is fun too!

The tests are very difficult and cover a ton of material. You have to go to class and read the book in order to do well. A LOT of studying as well. Not an easy A, it will take a lot of work! He is really easy to talk to and makes class interesting! Always available for help too

Professor Adams is an AMAZING teacher! The best teacher by far at COD. He makes everything very clear and easy to follow. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A! However, if you study and pay attention you will be fine. Also, he is an EXTREMELY fair grader.

Prof. Adams makes lecture lively and is funny. Super nice guy, but tests are nuts. Only prof that gives essay tests. No curve. Super difficult tests, hard material. Excellent lecturer (certainly not boring), but useless study guides since you basically need to know everything for his extremely difficult exams. Presentation required but not all that difficult if you don't mind writing/giving presentations. Don't miss any class/lab! Adams is a perfectionist with labs, but goes easy on the lab report grading.

Professor Adams it's BY FAR the best teacher I've ever had at COD. I took this course over the summer and it's hardcore.Looked forward to every class and lab. Took this class last Spring. I thought Mr. Adams was easy to talk to and an awesome instructor. Very clear and a fair grader overall. We had lab books to turn in, but they help your grade a lot. If you study the way he tells you to the first day of class you can definitely get an A, but you do have to try. I looked forward to this class !

I had Mr. Adams this past Fall and he is THE best !! Knows his stuff and teachs it in a way that is entertaining. Study and be prepared and you can do well. He is also easy to talk too. The tests can be a little tough, but as long as you study you can get an A.

I was worried about taking this class because I thought it would be too hard. Mr. Adams made it easy to understand and is a great prof ! I am glad I took him and would highly recommend him to anyone that has to take micro. I recommend taking bio 1151 first- I didn't and it would've made this much easier. Read book, study & keep up w/ study guides- they are your best friends! Concise power points too.

Prof. Adams is not easy. But he is a great instructor and I learned so much this semester. It helped that I already had a handle on metabolism and basic bio and chemistry. His study guides are long but helpful and instrumental in getting through the tests!

Adams was a good teacher and was willing to help when needed. Entertaining in lecture for an 8am class. The class was well organized, but the tests were pretty hard. Do the study guides and study how he tells you to from the beginning. I wish I had done that earlier. Make sure you get things in on time too.

Good Professor, but his tests were not as easy as his study guide. His labs were easy and the only thing that helped my grade but I ended up dropping halfway. It got too difficult. His tests are completely different. Don't take unless you're completely fine with getting a grade less than an A

I think he's a nice professor and good person. But his knowledge is far more advanced than a basic Bio 1151 student would understand. He packs so much into the lectures that I felt like I was in a 8 week class as opposed to 16 week. Too much all at once. Tests were beyond my understanding. I barely passed.

OK, so I think it obvious Adams is not the easiest prof out there, but I wanted to make sure I was prepared for my future classes and I took a chance. Glad I did! I really feel like I will be successful in my future classes because Adams was an awesome teacher and has lots of experience in classes I need to take. If you work hard you can do well!

He is a nice guy and he tries to help out in any way he can but HIS CLASS IS HARD! I feel as if his study guides don't even go with his exams. The exams are really hard and you will most likely pass from memorizing each and every word he says. I'm not sure why so many people think the class was so impossible. Im not a genius, but I did well just by putting in a lot of time and keeping up with the work outside of class. While I agree mr. Adams is a great teacher, I recommend staying clear of his summer course! It is definitely for someone who has nothing to do but study and do homework, the content is extremely hard, had I taken it in 16 weeks it might be doable, his tests are short answer and not as easy as the study guides! Interesting class that covered tons of info 8 short weeks. If need an A, be prepared to have no life outside the class, also not having a job would be preferable. You will become close friends with your text book as he has pre-class quizzes based on the material you were supposed to read for class that day. In other words, he has daily quizzes on material that has not been covered in class. But if you actually do the reading, you will do just fine. Very helpful and will answer any questions.

Best teacher I've had at College of Dupage. He is a hard grader but he does it for a reason. Doing the study guides and looking through the chapters assigned are a must. I'm currently taking Professor Adams for the microbiology summer course! If you have the opportunity to take him, DO IT! He's so entertaining and funny. Professor Adams made this very hard class not so hard. Do everything he tells you to do (pre-class reading, study guides) and you will pass easily. Even if the book explanation is hard to understand he explains way better , so take advantage of office hours and asking questions in class.

After taking micro, Adams is one of my favorite professors. Utilize his office hours and GSG sessions. They help tremendously. 3 presentations, 5 exams, and quizzes every class -it's not horrible. In high school I never liked bio but Prof. Adams totally switched the game for me and made learning this difficult subject not a chore but something that I enjoyed doing. He keeps his lectures interesting by having a sense of humor which is what I think sets him apart from the other profs. Would highly recommend.

Micro is a super hard class, so if you go in thinking it's an easy A, you're wrong. Adams is a super funny dude, who is totally interested in the subject matter that hes teaching. He has office hours and guided study groups for you to go to. So, as long as you make the time for this class and read your book, you'll do fine.

If you want an easy A you are choosing the wrong guy. Adams makes you work for your grade. Memorizing &amp;spitting out info is not how you succeed, you really have to understand the concepts and apply what you know. I recommend him for anyone transferring to a university. I took his hybrid course which meant his lectures and quizzes were online and lab was once a week in person. MicroBio is not an easy A but Adams is very open to helping you succeed. by giving a lot of resources to use. I can definitely say I learned a lot. His online lectures were good but I did use the text with it for extra study material.

LITERALLY THE BEST PROFESSOR AT COD. Material is straight forward, easy to understand, and you won't snooze in his class. I've had him for multiple classes and all I have to say is don't sleep on signing up for his classes. You gotta put in the work to get the grade you want, but all the material and resources are there. No regrets here!

He was awesome, plain and simple. I did not take the recommended Gen Bio and received an A. I read a lot and made sure to have a decent understanding of the lecture before walking into class. Its not scary to take if you are dedicated to the grade. I didn't do any of the GSG or office hours, I did it on my own and worked out but not recommended.

Adams loves what he does which makes him one of the best. He thoroughly explains everything and if you still don't get it you can always drop in during office hours. There is also a group study exclusively for his bio classes 2 days a week. You will not regret taking him.

Overall, one of the best professors who teaches Biology at COD. He makes you work for your grade but there are many out of class resources that he wants students to utilize like office hours and GSG. I would take him again, no regrets.

Wow, just wow. Get ready to read the book and understand rather than memorize lectures. Super understanding and hilarious! So grateful to have a professor like him. Definitely one of a kind. Tests are multiple choice and short answers. Super helpful in future academic careers. Theres not a class without a laugh! Take him!! :)

Easily one of my favorite professors at COD! Makes you put in the work but guides you at every step and is there for you with any questions/concerns outside of class. I genuinely enjoyed this class and learnt so much. Not an easy A but if you're looking to actually learn, def take him. Super organized and his lectures are very entertaining!

Prof. Adams is a fantastic teacher. This class started as a hybrid course but went completely online during COVID-19. He handled the transition really well, and he made it very easy for us to stay in touch and attend office hours with him and his GSG tutor. His lectures are succinct, and he's generally a caring and funny instructor!

This is the first time I've taken Microbiology at college level and I am SO glad I had Professor Adams. This class started off as Hybrid, but then went fully online because of COVID-19. Even though the class was online, he was still accessible outside of class via ZOOM office hours. He wants his students to succeed. I highly recommend him!

I loved Professor Adams, but his micro class is the hardest class I have taken. I took it online this summer and was putting in 30-40 hours a week and still struggled. His office hours helped and a guided study group was offered. His tests are worded to be tricky which was the hardest part of his class.

I took this class over the summer and it was challenging, but not crazy. If you put in the time and work it is very doable. Being online probably makes micro harder, but I felt like if you did the study guides and put the time time in it is possible to do well. Highly recommend. Very smooth transition to online.

Alright, let me give it to you straight. I got an A in this class easily. All I did was watch his lecture videos once, and there are about 4 chapters per unit, and 40 minutes of videos to watch per unit. He has lab reports where he will LITERALLY tell you what to write and put in order to get a 100% on them. Somehow people in my class failed this?

By far my absolute favorite professor! I took his BIO and MICRO class and I wished he taught more bio classes! He is a very funny guy and genuinely cares for his students success. Very lecture heavy, however if you fill out the study guides and attend office hours, you are golden. Biggest advice for these classes is to attend office hours!!

Prof. Adams' online Microbio course is excellent! I wish I took this class in a non-pandemic situation because the labs would have been so fun and interesting. But he did an awesome job explaining the purpose of these labs and how to follow procedures. A lot of content felt like Bio 1 review, but I still learned a lot and love his teaching style!

Prof Adams is honestly one of the best professors at COD. He's amazing at teaching Bio and he makes it fun. He really does care about his students and wants them to succeed. The class is pretty hard since it's a lot of info to take in, but he makes the workload very manageable (and is a very easy grader on labs). Highly recommend!

Prof Adams is a great guy and he really knows what he's teaching, but there is a lot of work to do. If you manage your time well and can handle a big workload, take him, he's pretty awesome.

Prof Adams gives so much time for his students and is always willing to help if you ask. I spent roughly 30 hours a week in this class but this was my fault for not taking advantage of his resources and spending my time wisely. His lectures are very easy to understand and labs are an easy A.

An amazing professor that tries to help you learn as much as possible. Provides very detailed online video lectures that teach you absolutely everything you need to know for the class. Also, he seems to be an easy grader which is a plus!

I took Prof Adams last semester, and he was great! Very organized! It IS a difficult class online, but he is always helpful and responds quickly. Attend office hours for sure, I'm not sure how people pass if they don't. He can be a bit tough on grading, but he's pretty specific in what he's looking for. Plus he makes it fun.

A couple smaller papers, one big paper, some quizzes, class discussions, and tests. Lectures are quick and to the point with a study guide to fill out. Explains things really well. Pretty easy grader. I left everything to the last minute before each test and quiz and got good grades. Overall an easy A. He also runs a pretty cool fish youtube

Amazing prof - very kind and makes the content fun. Prepare to spend a lot of time on the material though, his exam questions are not straightforward and definitely make you think. He does offer a lot of extra helpful material outside of the textbook, as well as office hours and a guided study group that meets weekly for help (Shoutout to Jane K!)

I wish the class been in person, because Professor Adams is informative, friendly, clear, and makes things interesting. He's a bit of a tough grader, but fair, so make sure you study and turn everything in. There are tests, discussions, and a paper, so even though I did bad on the midterm I still got an A. Glad I took the class, would do it again!

Amazing prof he makes lecture amusing but I will say make sure you area reading the book and I do recommend attending the Guided study Group that he offers with the class.

Notice how all of the negative comments complain about no extra credit and the workload and he still is 4.5/5. Those students want handouts. You will work but you will learn. How do you expect to pass exams for medical professions? Prof Adams is a cool professor who teaches great, so don't be hating. He will make you better, just show up and learn.

No extra credit, 80% of grade from exams, quiz, lab work. Make sure you have enough time to study, re-watch the lectures at least twice if you want to earn A or B grade, it's a lot of information in there. The major part is follow the study guides!! That's the exams questions comes from!

Biology and microbiology are supposed to be tough classes that gets rid of the "garbage" that we don't need in the medical field. We don't need you if you can't pass these classes. If you can't put in the necessary work, then go major in liberal arts or some "easy" degree. Professor Adams is a great teacher and not a tough grader at all.

I'm not gonna lie, it was tough. I put a lot of effort to get an A. Prof. Adams is a great professor and I understood many things thanks to him. Take him if you care more about learning things than getting an easy A. His lectures are interesting and I enjoyed his sense of humor. Labs are straightforward, you just need to spend some time on them.

Adams is great personally, but his online lectures aren't all encompassing for his exams. TA Jane sends a drive link at the start of class- use her videos. She explains main concepts well, then watch Adams' to build on. Weekly labs take ~1 hr; he says EXACTLY what to say. He gives partial credit on exams, some extra credit, and has office hours.

Great Professor. He really tries to make his lectures enjoyable and you can tell he is passionate about what he does. He gives partial credit on the exams and I never got lower than a 100% on the lab reports. As long as you put in the work and do what he says to do in the beginning of the class you will succeed.

He's very good at simplifying concepts and teaching. There are always students in his office during office hours. The class is very fun. Only downside is that the tests are pretty difficult. However, review sessions and office hours are key to doing well on the exams. Would take again if I could.

this Professor was great teacher to work with this fall semester. My tip for future micro students is that try to visit office hours, he gives one on one examples and questions with you to better understand the material. I also did not use the textbook,he has lecture videos that basically replaces the books but I have only touched my textbook once.

He was definitely a really great guy! if you just do the work and study a bit you can get the class pretty well! also go to his office hours they really help and sometimes gives good hints for tests!

i took the hybrid course so all the lectures were online, but professor adams was great! he makes sure to answer every question thoroughly and gives extra credit before every test using kahoots, he really cares abt his students and wants them to succeed. def wouldve failed if it wasn't for him lol

Micro-1420 hybrid. Mr. Adams is hilarious, fun, wonderful. He provides extra credit chances for every unit on Kahoot quiz (but only 1-5th place get extra credits) and office hours. are extremely helpful. Easy and fast grader. Made the heavy subject very fun and less stressful. He makes the concept simple. Need to put quite some time in this course

Prof Adams is very understanding and has MANY resources for students to ask questions/review. He is truly passionate about the subject and students. He is easygoing and will make sure you are always prepped. Tests are not curved. If you are taking a hybrid class, be ready to take lots of notes and rewatch lecture videos. Extra credit opportunities.

Prof Adams is by far the best prof I've ever had. He's personable, loves to get to know his students, and wants everyone to succeed. You do need to pay attention in class, however, he only teaches what you need to know and tells you all the information you'll need for an upcoming quiz. Apply yourself and your grade will show for it. TAKE HIS CLASS!

HANDS DOWN THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! Professor Adams explains concepts in a way that sticks with you. I'll never be able to forget certain stuff, thanks to him. His midterm exams are, however, VERY DIFFICULT. He makes you really apply that knowledge. To give an example, it's like taking your AS & A level exams without doing any past papers

Prof Adams, is probably one of the funniest teacher I've had. Gives "study guides" for each chapter then in the lectures goes over exactly what you need to know for the tests. Lab is extremely fun, and a real hands on kind of lab. I didn't think I was going to enjoy micro as much as I did. Would take again, and he doesn't use the book. Test heavy.

Microbiology isn't easy whatsoever, but taking the class with Professor Adams made it bearable. He was funny and kind towards all his students and was always available in case you had a question. In order to pass this class you really need to dedicate a few hours every week to study so that you can get a good grade. Lab was fun and educational.

He is so caring. his class needs a lot of time. the class consists of 5 exams 2 lab quizzes 2 lab submissions, quizzes for each chapter.everything was easy I felt but the exams were a bit hard. I didn't study hard enough but if I did I would've got an A.need to write everything he says in the videos to get a good grade. does Kahoots 4 extra credit

Professor Adams makes the heavy subject of microbiology fun and approachable. While the exams can be challenging, attending office hours and using resources like unstuck AI are key to doing well. Engaging with the course is worth the effort.

Adams will not fail to make you laugh. Gives study guides on each chapter. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, I don't know if I would have passed without them. This is NOT a easy course, but having him as a teacher made the work load bearable. Spent at LEAST 30 hours a week studying. 5 exams, 3 lab quizzes, quiz each week (online) and 2 lab write ups.

Online lectures are engaging, and in-person tests are fair. There are 5 tests and 3 lab quizzes, with the 2 lowest quizzes dropped. Lab write-ups are simple: focus on purpose, discussion, results&#8212;he explains all in lab. Go to office hours; he practically gives you the answers. Pay attention in lab for easy quizzes and success!

Prof.Adams is AMAZING! Ngl, I'm not the smartest student, and I don't have the best work ethic or good memory. So stem/science classes have never been easy for me. However, this professor made Microbio as easy as it could be. I went to his office hours once a week, and to GSG twice a week and MAYBE studied at home like 3 hrs a week max.

TAKE THIS CLASS. He is very clear on instructions for what's required for lab and exams. His office hours are so valuable if you are prepared and provide great review for the exams. He offers extra credit during the reviews before each unit exam and also drops 2 lowest quiz grades. Labs are easy if you pay attention and there are only 2 submissions

He is very caring. The tests are a little hard so make sure to prep for them. Going to his office hours are essential to make sure you understand the topics well and he can answer any question.

Class was hybrid so had to learn everything by yourself, exams were rather straightforward if you put in the time to study. Offered extra credit the week before the exam using Kahoots which he would also go over the material during. Provides a syllabus with every point possible listed. I recommend anyone to take Professor Adams as he's a funny guy!

He's energetic, funny, & forms good relations w/ his students. Textbook; you can rely on his power points & study guides alone BUT you do have to put in the work to understand the content(like any class). He wont look at you like youre dumb but he will judge you for not being prepared so do your part before going to him with questions /complaints

Professor Adams is an outstanding teacher! I must admit the class material was quite challenging especially since It was an online class, but his guidance and support during office hours was a tremendous help. Lecture videos were informational + entertaining, and lab reports were a breeze to follow/write. I cannot recommend him enough, take him!
