Loves speaking, and knows alot about it. You can tell he knows his stuff just from his funny and interesting lectures. He just wants you to improve and have a well organized outline, if you do the two you are set. He is willing to work with you, and gives great feed back! All around good teacher. Reminds me of Dane Cook! hahaha

Definitely one of the best professors ive had? there?s pretty much two MAJOR speeches that youll be prepared for and two grade fluffing speeches that are way easy. He is super funny and makes coming to class enjoyable. He knows his stuff and teaches from what he knows, and not just from a text book. Highly recommended professor and class :)

Amazing teacher, I highly recommend him to anyone, especially those who are nervous about public speaking. I still use the things I learned from his class in other areas of education, such as English classes, writing papers, etc. That is the most memorable class I've ever taken, as well as one of my favorites to wake up to. I took this class during the summer. It's really fun and the professor is really funny. He makes the times pass really quickly. He is a hard grader though. Your grade is based on the points you accumulate.

He was always encouraging, helpful, and most of all inspiring. I have never had a teacher who showed so much enthusiasm for the subject. Always enjoyable!

This was a surprisingly enjoyable class! I have learned a lot, and don't fear public speaking as much. I also am learning to communicate my ideas in a clear and organized manner. He obviously loves teaching this subject and excels at it. I wish he taught an intermediate class. Effort is required - as with all things worth learning.

I was not looking forward to speech class at all Mr. Baumwirt is an amazing professor! He was a bit intimidating at first but he made it clear he didn't want to make friends he wants to see you improve! we had a total of 4 speeches and a midterm (multiple choice) and a final(short answer) i would take his class again without a doubt!! I loved him!!

Great teacher! He gives you points for showing up to class, allows for extra credit, and lets you use notes, outlines, manuscripts when giving speeches. I took this class as a re-take but Im glad I re-took with Jason, what a quality learning experience it was! and I got an A!

Dope teacher! He is really laid back and supeR funny and gives a good amount to complete the speeches doesn't give hw. He does group excerxises so you get comfortable with the class and the Assignment are basic nothing hard. I would def recommend this professor and he looks like Dane cook (kinda)

He is very animated and kept the entire class engaged..everyone loved coming to class and he kept the atmosphere on a very personal level which made the speeches less intimidating. I definitely benefited from this class and am now planning on majoring in communications.

Really fun lectures and I learned a lot. Like actually learned how to speak. Your grade is pure points though so if you do bad on a speech, it get's averaged in. I managed to pull a 90% so I'm not complaining

I really enjoyed this class. People say he is hard but I think he just challenges you to be the best speaker you can be. He is very clear about what he expect from you and as long as you do it you will do well and learn a lot.

Comes off intimidating but its all an act. A really funny guy who wants you to succeed. But try to limit your sarcasm and increase your work ethic. He knows a slacker when he sees one & will eat you for lunch.Don't waste his time: use your creativity to write amazing speeches. He will give you the tools; you just have to put the effort in.Take him!

He is a great teacher, his lectures are very entertaining so you don't get bored. He has some in class work but not too much. The book is mostly there just to help you, he does not follow it. He grades hard but he wants you to succeed. His point system makes it so his last two speeches are most of your grade. Giving you time get over being nervous

Professor Baumwirt is HILARIOUS ! Great sense of humor, believes in you when it comes down to speeches. He gives you THE OUTLINE and ENDLESS examples for your speech every time, all you have to do is make your speech interesting, make eye contact with the audience, DONT SAY "UHM" every 5 seconds, take your time, and don't give TOO much information.

Baumwirt is the best. He is absolutely hilarious so he is easy to listen to, but everything he talks about pertains to the class or how to grow in public speaking. I was really nervous to take speech, but he made the class fun and I felt like I not only learned a lot but grew in my speech ability. I'd highly recommend him.

Baumwirt loves you! He creates an extremely comfortable environment, which makes it much easier for this kind of class (oral interpretation of lit.) He pushes you if you know you have the potential to be better, which upset me at first, but it definitely made me push myself and challenge myself much more as the semester progressed. Awesome prof!!!

I have taken 3 classes with Baumwirt & he is the best teacher i've had in my college career. he makes the classroom an environment where you are comfortable to speak and every speech we gave, he gave an excellent example of what he is looking for in the work. made me love my major (communi.) even more and motivated me to transfer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I went into speech completely dreading the class and I left not wanting to leave! He is a great professor, he goes out of his way to build relationships with his students. It is not an easy A but if you do exactly everything he says you will get and A. I got an A in his class as well. Professor Baumwirt is my favorite teacher yet here in VC!

Baumwirt is one of the best professors I've ever had at VC. His humor keeps the class interesting and clearly explains what he expects from your speeches. Before his class I hated speaking in front of crowds, now after being in his class I have built my confidence and would definitely recommend taking any class by him! 5 speeches. Easy.

Took this class over the summer &it was fun, even at 8am. His instructions, expectations & grading criteria are all very clear. If you can write an outline you've already won half the battle. It's an easy A, if you put in the EFFORT! He is encouraging & wants you to learn & improve. Overall, a great professor. Also, cover your mouth when you yawn.

Mr B. is great, its a shame he is not a full time teacher at VC. He made this class not so intimidating and was very encouraging. I would take another class with this teacher for sure. One of the better teachers at VC.

The name says it all, "Baumwirt" is the bomb! On a serious note. He truly cares about his classes, and their ability to be able to overcome the fear of giving speeches. He gives worksheets for you to follow and they are helpful. If you are there to learn, he is there to help. Be sure to follow the study guides AND ASK QUESTIONS. Ortega out!

AMAZING! He talks about how he used to be a tour guide at universal studios and it shows because he is beyond hilarious. He makes class extremely entertaining and less intimidating. You don't have to memorize speeches but it does help a lot on scores if you are not directly reading from your paper. Fair grader and gives great feedback!

Great professor! I learned so much!

I have had very few great classes, and this was one of them. The constant practice of speeches he had assigned for us made it easier to be comfortable in front of our peers. He was very clear in his lectures and his structures for speeches made them easy to write. You have to participate to get as much as you can out of the class.

The B-man was pretty much the coolest teacher I've had. He makes speech fun not nerve racking at all. Teaches you that nervousness is something only preparing you for greatness. Remember Baumwirt loves you.

Very good teacher. Explains everything very well. Has a sense of humor. Expects you to put in the work just as he puts in work to make the assignments easier. Always make sure to cover your yawns. He has very helpful outlines to what you are supposed to do. It's an easy class if you simply follow his directions.

Funny and sarcastic. Being on his good side helps. In group communication theres two group project. The journals that goes with the project is important. Be very detail with journals for good grades. Presentations are not as important as the tests and journals. Tests are pretty tricky so studying and taking good notes is a must.

Jason is very passionate about teaching. He wants every student to do well. He expects a lot of participation from you. His classes are very engaging and he has a way to make everyone comfortable enough to speak in front of the class. There are three speeches to present, but he gives you all the tool to succeed. He does not like procrastinators.

Super great teacher. by far my favorite teacher. Really funny, really wants you to do well. I ran Cross Country and had to miss a couple of class due to meets, and he was really understandable and helped me out with what i missed and let me do my speeches early, since i would be missing class. I 100% recommend him.

TAKE BAUMWIRT. He's the best professor at VC. He is understanding and clear about what he expects. The first day of class he tries to scare people off, but hang in there! Constructive criticism is never given in a derogatory way, he truly just wants his students to succeed. He's also hilarious. I never laughed as hard as I did in his class.

Baumwirt works with you to improve your confidence in your speech abilities. I took him my first semester at VC and still remember and use the tactics he taught us when presenting in my other classes. He is very political, but don't let that deter you. He knows his stuff.

This is the required speech class so you have to attend and participate. He is clear in his instruction and will help if you need it. There are four speeches required.

I took this class thinking my fear of giving speeches would fly out the window, but that never happened. Yes, he knows his stuff but he gets all sad girl 805 if no one talks. Don't get me wrong Prof B is a good choice I just got stuck in the wrong class. So come to class with things to talk about. COVER YOUR YAWNS. 4 speeches 2 tests.

Other than that I highly recommend Professor B because he's very honest and will tell you what to work on next so you can have a good grade in his class.

He cares a lot about his students, gets very frustrated when the respect is not reciprocated. He starts off class by asking how everyone is. DO the readings. He's funny but sometimes something will tick him off and he'll go off on the person and class kinda pauses while hes angry. He takes forever to grade things. Participation is greatly noticed.

Best Professor I've had at VC. He does everything in his power to help everyone succeed in class. He truly cares for his students and knows how to engage with everyone. He is open to new techniques to help the whole succeed. Put in your part of the class and you will pass. Best professor, I would definitely take his class again!

Baumwirt is a great guy! He really does care about his students and has very interesting lectures. He gives like 4 or 5 tests and not going to lie, they're kind of scattered all over the place and can be difficult. Pay attention to his lectures, they are vital to your survival in this class. There are 2 major group projects which are not too hard.

He gets his point across okay but kind of switches from topic to topic which can be confusing. He's a nice guy if you participate and will help you during class, but good luck reaching him outside of that 1 hour block. A speech from 3 months ago still isn't graded. BUT, this has to be easier than taking it in person. I took this during COVID

Throughout the online class, he definitely cooperated with us... he DEFINITELY cares for us. I recommend him ! He is a comedian for sure. There are 4 videos for this class and an online (free access) textbook.

I really enjoyed learning from Professor Baumwirt. He's EXTREMELY intense right from the get go, but really passionate about public speaking. Talks fast & loud so pay attention or youll miss his jokes! Lots of resources available for further information or help. Does get very political & it's hit/miss if he'll see emails, but wants you to succeed.

Baumwirt is the best! IF you can take him, do it; you won't regret it! He is very clear on what he expects and that made this class easy. The only downside was I took the 8wk course, the pace was rough but that was my choice signing up! He is awesome and made getting up early worth it. One of the best professors I've ever taken.

Let me say this professor is sincere and awesome. I was always very intrigued during his lectures. He is not a professor that puts you to sleep during class. As long as you do all your work and try, you can pass with an A. If you want to improve public speaking skills and gain great insight into writing and giving speeches, his class is for you.

My class was only 4 weeks so he was very strict on attendance and deadlines. He was kind of your average boomer who didn't like this generation but was still good. Very encouraging about our speeches and genuinely wanted us to take something from this class. Overall great teacher with a boomer personality

Professor Baumwirt was a great professor! I took the 8 week version of this class and it was a lot of work but he extended deadlines a few times for the class and was willing to work with his students. Some of his grading criteria didn't match up what he said in lecture but he was quick to clear it up when asked.

He's a good professor and is very passionate about his subject, however the four week version is really rough and I don't recommend it. Take an 8 week at least. A little difficult to reach on non-class days however he is very open to helping his students, combined with his sense of humor my verdict is: take him but remember to cover your yawns!

Professor Baumwirt is pretty intense, but he's really passionate about public speaking. His lectures can be fast-paced, so stay engaged. Attendance is mandatory, and the workload can be challenging, especially in the 4-week version. But with dedication and resources like Unstuck study, you can succeed in this class.
