Mr. Bright presents the material in a clear and logical manner. I found him very helpful in resolving questions, both during and outside class hours. Do the homework EVERY DAY! Not only will it help you learn the material, but he will curve the tests based on how many people actually do daily homework. Fewer people in class do homework = less curve
I hated math before I took Bright's class, but he has made it my world. His instructions are clear, his diction is clear, he works problems out step by step and ensures nobody is confused. He is patient with questions. Excellent insctructor, changed the way I think about math for the rest of my life.
Great teacher
One of the worst math professors I've had. I am someone who struggles with math so I came in with an open mind and paid for a tutor and all to be prepared.. But it hasnt helped. He doesn't care to answer your questions if he doesn't find them important. He is errogant and enjoyed watching students drop his class. He assigns hw the day before a test
He is always willing to answer questions you might have and constantly offers the opportunity for students to see him in his office for help. His humor is a little odd and comes off rude sometimes but I am glad I had him as my professor. Make sure to do your homework, that's how you'll pass!
If you're someone who struggles with math, this isn't the professor for you. He'll answer questions if they're important enough or he'll just make you feel stupid for asking them. Do HW to understand/ pass the class. The only grades are tests so don't fail any. He curves tests to the number of people that do the HW. Good luck if you take him
If you are like me and struggle with math this is not the class to take. Only covers material once. Offers no review before tests or much of hw. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Seems more interested to sticking to the syllabus than making sure ppl understand before moving on. Class moves fast and its easy to get lost. Dropping tomorrow
Mr. Bright is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I never ever understood math until I got him as a teacher. He is so helpful and goes over everything! Thanks to him I don't hate math as much! The people who are saying he is not a good teacher clearly never tried or pay attention!
I made a C in Mr. Bright class, his class is NOT easy. He is a know it all and even though he is very knowledgeable about Math, he does not take the time to help his students as should be. The class is very fast pace, he is not the type of instructor who seems like he cares about his students passing. This is lowest grade I hve ever gotten in math
I have no idea what half of these people are talking about. I had Mr. Bright for the Spring 2013 semester, and he was seriously amazing. He goes over the material with you and expects you to do the homework. He reviews the issues you have the very next day and does thorough test reviews. Wonderful teacher!!
horrible horrible teacher. He does not care about his students or their needs or how bad they are struggling. He tells you if you have any questions, to use the "math solution" rather than taking the time to helping you.
I am one of the many who struggle with math. He is a Mr. know it all and rather than helping students he tries to impress them. I feel uncomfortable around him and he is just overall confusing g! He is very strict on texting in class and attendance.
I tested into a higher math class but wanted to take this as a refresher. Worst idea ever Horrible class lead by a bad teacher Time waster Cocky Rude I hope that if you need MAT081 you go with someone else. Worst teacher I have ever had and he likes to belittle student. Made most of us feel stupid and offered ZERO help. Do not take his class
He is very helpful, just talk to him if you feel unsure about something.
This class was a good fit for me. If you like set structure, and to know what's expected of you this is the class for you. This class stayed to the syllabus and I liked the way he teaches. His love for math is contagious, you have to show up, do the hw and remember to keep yourself caught up. His time is limited to cover lots of info.
I took 092 in the summer. It was a lot of work. He goes through material very fast and for the ones that are not to strong in math that is not good. Do your homework it can help you with the grade. Not very communicative guy. I wish I had chosen other professor.
He gives great explanations on whyhow things are done in math. Your grade is solely focused on tests. He thoroughly goes over any questions and all homework each day. I learned a lot from his class. Although he is very strict on all of his policies, if you aren't there to learn, you will not like him.
I took this class in the summer. I did not like Mr. Bright that well. He was a bit rude at times. He didn't like being corrected when he messed up. He said he would do things like put up practice tests, but he didn't do it. It was a very frustrating five weeks. I would not take this teacher again.
Not a very good teacher. Disorganized and slow, often failing to cover all of the material in class. Be prepared to teach yourself. Explanations can be lacking. Often asks questions during lecture expecting you to read his mind, causing long awkward pauses. Your final grade is made up entirely of a small number of tests, so don't mess up.
Doesn't help or show up to class 2 days before the test. Won't clarify how to use MyMathLab. Prepare to lecture yourself long nights. Bad professor over all and does not explain material.
Horrible at explaining things. Does a lot of work in his head and expects you to know what he's talking about. Occasionally doesn't even write the lesson title, so you have no idea what's going on.
He is very passionate about math and there is a bit of charm to his character. He is very strict with the rules of math and wants us to learn the correct way of doing things and understanding why. Instead of 'do this because of this' He takes the time to explain why things are the way they are. pay attention and don't do the hw and your good.
He does not use canvas and it makes it really hard to keep up with your overall grade. He provides several problems of homework every night/weekend He says spends time going into grave detail about things that have nothing to do with the material that we learned and has no time to cover what matters. PURPOSELY USES CONFUSING WORDS
He makes no exceptions for late work, but he's a great teacher overall. You'll find he actually cares about his students and genuinely loves math. He does talk about the history of math in class, but he does so with a purpose. Since his classes are intended for students who are going into math related fields, he knows we might want to know this.
Lectures are too fulfilled. He is passionate about math however does not explain so well. He skips steps. Dislike like we read the textbook which made no sense to me.
Professor Bright is very smart and definitely knows what he is doing when he is teaching math. The only problem is, he isn't to good at explaining in detail how to answer a problem. He is also a very tough grader... I mean really tough !!! He is a nice guy and if your good in math you'll do fine. But if math isn't your best subject, stay away.
Mr. Bright was a good guy and teacher overall. But I did not like his grading method. He wouldn't ever post in Canvas, so he would tell you your class grade after every test, and sometimes he would be off a little bit, and then make us come back in and wait to know our true grade. Ain't nobody got time for dat. I wish he would've used Canvas.
He is definitely a tough grader, but overall he explains everything well in class. He is extremely funny, you would enjoy his class. Do the homework and you will pass this class with an A.
Loved this class!
Mr. Bright is one the only math teacher that I've taken that actually breaks everything down. He good at what he does. He's a tough grader though, and leaves homeworker every night. But as long as you go to class everyday and do the homework you'll pass. He also drops your lowest test score at the end of the semester to give you a little boost!
Mr. Bright is an excellent Math teacher. I switched into his class a week into the semester and I felt that I understood the criteria right away. He explains everything in great detail and breaks everything down. He's not just good at math, hes also great at TEACHING, which is something not all professors are capable of doing. Highly recommended.
Mr. Bright is an excellent teacher. He teaches not only how to solve the problems, but the reason behind each step. His real strength is in his understanding of the material and ability to explain it at all levels. Also, during the progression of the course, he includes what was previously learned into current problem solving endeavors.
He is one of the best Professors I've had this far! Even though I struggle with math overall, I really appreciate his delivery of the materials that are required.
Mr. Bright is an alright teacher. He understands and breaks down the subject well but only goes over each subject once. As someone who struggles with math, I wouldn't recommend taking his class. If you can take a few examples and teach yourself, you'll be alright.
The one thing that made me look forward to his lectures was that he sometimes goes over some of the math history which made the class very engaging. He makes himself always available after class and office hours and answers emails in a timely manner. The practice exams were extremely helpful too.
Mr. Bright is an outstanding professor. While some may think that his method of grading homework puts you on the spot, I think that it is fun and a good way to make the class entertaining. I have always had trouble with math, but Mr. Bright showed me, as simple as it may seem to some, that it is not another language, its just logic.
Hes the worst! i've never failed a class until i took his class! i didnt drop it because im a hard working sudent and i always get A's. I got perfect score on all my homework and did pretty good on tests! But his grading is the worst! hes one of those teachers where you wont know your grade until a week after class is over. The worst.
Although he is a great teacher, Mr. Bright can sometimes not go into detail on the subject, or not write it on the board. I'm a visual learner but there's not really lots of visuals.
Terribly boring class. Mr. Bright can make his students feel stupid at times when they can't articulate their questions exactly how he wants them to. Homework every night. He withdrew me with no warning (I assume attendance though i did email him as to why i wasn't there) and he didn't respond to my email when I asked for the reason why.
He's a good instructor and you can definitely tell that he cares that u not only know how to do the math problems, but also grasp the concept of why your doing them. He's a bit slow sometimes though, he'll get off topic occasionally and it's a little frustrating (personally, but you might like it since it's always interesting ) (I had 50mins)
Mr. Bright is a good man. He is extremely knowledgeable and he has a passion for mathematics. If you are a responsible student, you will do well in his class. He is a very technical professor, but he explains the course work in understandable terms. I highly recommend taking his class.
Make sure you read and study
Professor Bright is an excellent teacher, he explains the lecture well and will go back if he feels the class did not understand it well enough (this includes extending HW). Expect HW every night, & know that his tests will not be multiple choice. Tests are not too difficult, but he will mark down for improper notation even if the answer is right
He is super specific on his grading. For instance, if I put as an answer "3" and it's the right number he will give me half a point because I did not put x3. He is super specific in his language of math and not forgiving when it comes it it. He also likes to make weird analogies and then when some stupid student goes on a tangent then he does so.
This class really gets frustrated when it comes to his test he is so picky about one little detail. For an example I got one of the answer right he marked it wrong because I did the work differently. He doesn't use canvas. If you struggled in math so badly Professor Bright is not the right math teacher for you. AVOID
He's a good teacher, he cares about his students. He expects a lot out of his students, so prepare to read and study constantly. He is very particular with grading and it's frustrating. The homework given always covers more than he covered in class because we never finished a lesson before the end of class.
Overall, he's a good person but not a good professor. Goes too fast and if you have a question he'll just say to stay after class. He also wasted a whole class period going over the use of a calculator instead of reviewing for our final like he had said the day before.
Participate in class and ask questions. He'll work with you.
He a Great person, also a great teacher for fast learners but for people who aren't so fast learners you will get behind. He also expects students to know a lot before hand and read on their own a lot. Tends to ramble on specific things and eats away time. But he also makes the test easier than expected to help student.
GOOD.
Tells you that the textbook is required but we didn't use it once. Also have to pay upwards of $70 to buy a code in order to do homework online. Very test heavy. The online homework seriously varies from the lecture and makes it so much more confusing. Very hard teacher. I've done great in previous math classes but I did terrible in this one.
Mr. Bright is a good man. You have to truly pay attention though. You will need to read the textbook, but as long as you read from it and take notes, his lectures make sense. He is extremely knowledgable, and very detail oriented. If you are irresponsible, you will not do well in this course. If you put in the work, you will pass.
I had him for both MAT121 and MAT 150. If you pay attention and read the sections he tells you to read you will be fine. He's also very rational when it comes to grading.
he is an amazing math teacher. He explains everything VERY well, but he is a very hard grader. Calculators are not allowed in class or on tests, which makes it a little tougher. Overall he is good but dont take this class if you are not going to give it your 100% because you will fail.
He is awesome. He explains everything so well and, he also takes the time to find analogies so students can get a clear understanding.
Really cool person, however he goes really fast through material so if you fall behind its hard to catch backup. Also if you miss class he will drop you. He also will mark you off points for the little things on tests. During an accelerated class would give between 50-100 problems of homework a night.
Doesn't explain things clearly
He wasnt very helpful, even with trying my hardest with homework and listening in class I struggled.
Very good at teaching the criteria and making sure it is understood. Do not miss more than 5 classes because he will drop you without hesitation. Class is not very difficult at first but picks up towards the end.
Great teacher. Teaches very well
The way he explains things are a little weird and sometimes makes it harder than it needs to be but overall very funny and he knows whats hes doing.
He was a great professor and explained everything he was teaching very well, but the only thing is, is that he takes attendance very seriously. If you show up and pay attention, you should have no problem passing the class
Super tough grader, never failed a class in my life and Im now failing
Overall he does well at teaching, however he puts stuff on the homework that was never taught.
There are a lot of confusing concepts and he goes through really quickly
Mr. Bright is without a doubt a great teacher for mathematics
An amazing teacher that I enjoy learning from. Teaches the material easily and smoothly. Attendace is really important to him so make sure you show up. Great teacher and would definitely be in his class again.
Great teacher. Would definitely take his class again.
He will drop you if you are absent too many times. He gives a lot of homework at times but overall it's all straightforward. If you score well on the homework you should score well on the tests. Some of the lessons he teaches are confusing but it could just be the material.
Bright does not go through his lectures pretty well. There are many times that he wont even finish with the lecture and you will have to read the rest on your own at home. His tests are straightforward, what is on the review is not the test, although he is a picky grader.
Hw Everyday. But hardly that much, very easy. Hw is done online and is required to be paid for by student for the use of the program, annoying but honestly the program has a lot of things to help you pass. Bright is a great teacher who takes his time to explain every aspect of a subject and gives many examples. Great teacher, and a little quirky.
Class was the hardest i had this semester
We tend to get behind alot and he is very very strict on attendance qnd will drop you because of it.
The class was normal, the only major thing to mention is attendance, hes really strict on that, other than that, its pretty straight forward, show up and do your work.
Hes a good professor and explains the subject really well. You have to be ready to read the text or some things will be confusing. Also, make sure you get to class on time.
Very challenging. Attendance is a must, however I was disappointed that in multiple occasions class was cancelled and/or a substitute would be sent instead of Mr. Bright. This isn't HS, I am choosing to pay for this specific professor, if he can't make it, we would all appreciate the day off! He's inconsistent with posting HW but expects it done.
Good teacher and explains but sometimes goes too fast. He tries to fit so much material each day that it can make learning the material hard.
Although the homework was fine. The test was hard to comprehend because in the homework it had example. However grading on the test was hard to achieve as well. Participants is a must too. Just dont be late.
Attendance matters in this class. The homework is based on the lectures being presented in class. Gives enough time to complete homework!
Mr. Bright was a great teacher, showed great energy and acted like he wanted to be here. Would definitely have him as a professor again.
OG teacher , man of his word about the attendance so dont be surprised if you get dropped on mommas. Tough grader and gives homework a lot but other than that he a cool teacher
Hes okay, sometimes gets out of topics with his childhood and life stories. However, very engaging with his students.
Nice and funny teacher.
goes at a good pace, open minded, decent humor, explanations are very clear.
Hes a cool teacher, the homework is weighed pretty heavily but bedsides that hes a cool teacher Id recommend him
Expects you to learn by reading the section the night before, then only teaches certain topics. Gives a test review but doesnt go over it before the test. Teaches mostly off a PowerPoint (very confusing) because he contradicts a lot of the stuff on the power point.
Great professor, I took him for both MAT121 MAT151 and hes very clear when it comes to teaching. Goes very in depth with what he is teaching and makes it easy to learn. His lectures can drag on sometimes but overall hes a very good choice.
Gives homework every night.
He does not teach the whole lesson and I find it hard to teach myself
Reads straight from the book and doesnt really give any shortcuts to working out problems instead he uses the long complicated equations in the book. He teaches basically straight from the book. Unless you read the sections and study them or you really know your math this class will be hard for you. Hes funny but gets off topic real quick.
Mr. Bright makes everyday interesting. Hes funny and a great teacher. There are times where he gets off topic and you have to read the rest of the chapter on your own. Attendance is mandatory. Homework is daily. He is very picky on grading tests. Tests are not multiple choice. Overall, I would take him again because i was rarely bored.
Must complete homework assigned every day in order to be successful
Great teacher but a heavy grader. Miss one class and youll get left behind.
overall easy class. mostly review of college algebra. his class was cool made funny jokes but tough grader with tests. daily homework but easy.
Explains the lessons clearly and is open to answering all questions to help you understand the problem.
Mr. Bright is a great individual he is very passionate he knows what he is talking about he does assign a lot of homework pretty much every day his quizzes are easy he is a very strict grader he assigns a practice test before each quiz only problem is he teaches at a fast pace and if you miss something it is hard to catch up
Very smart and very good teacher. Only reason I didn't do any better was cause I was lazy.
Teaches to the book and doesnt make the material any easier however the time I was in his class he curved the tests when necessary. Also VERY lecture heavy and requires attendance.
Good teaching
Clear lectures, easy to understand
This teacher is good at what he grades and does many good examples and shows how to do different ways for the hw and tests.
Hes okay
Easy homework assignments as well as lenient with grading test.
Mr. Bright is a pretty good instructor. His grading method is really good and fair. Not tough at all. On the other hand, the way of teaching is not clear and talks too much about other stuff that might not have anything to do with the course. But overall, it was a good course and I would take it again.
Good teacher who has a passion for math, but you can get lost in his class very easily if you miss a day or two good luck. Also be prepared to use a lot of YouTube outside of class to re learn what he taught.
His lectures provide clear details of what you need to do to get the problem finished and correct.
Hes cares about student success and makes sure that everyone understands which therefore leads to a lot of homework. The study guides he gives out before the teast are extremely helpful aswell.
Grades fairly and explains everything good
Just be here everyday and you will be fine
Overall a good professor
Being the first math class Ive had since high school, it was a little tough for me. He goes into full depth with the chapters, but he could grade less heavy.
He uses heavy math vocabulary sometimes hard to understand and keep up. Pay attention and youll be fine.
Show up to class, do all homework and you will pass!
A very good instructor and he makes sure you understand the material.
TBH, it is an easy class, if it requires both textbook and mymathlab, only get mymathlab
This is the best professors i've taken for math and I would take all my classes with him if I could. He's the best professor I have this semester and he know how to teach whats required for the class.
Not bad, pretty boring, lots of homework but not that many tests, must be on time
The professor is quite funny but can also be very knowledgeable in the field he teaches in.
The class is easy in the way the professor teaches the class.
He is very great teacher, very well interested in his class, the only thing is his teaching style. I would have love to have like a guided notes or going over the textbook.
Professor Bright is a smart and cool guy. Knows what he's talking about but homework policy is very demanding. Has a very specific way of grading on tests but is not afraid of helping the students by grading on a curve if necessary.
Awesome professor. Sometimes tells side stories for our info or enjoyment. 10/10 would take his class again
Mr. Bright is very confusing. He kind of teaches the wrong parts of the material in lecture. The way he likes to teach is very hard to understand.
I have taken both 121 and 151 with Bright and I do not regret it one bit if you stay up to date this is a very easy class it does require you to put time aside outside of class and you may need to use the math solutions if you are falling behind but that should not be an issue this is a great class and bright is a great Instructor
this is my first math class with professor bright and he is a great teacher but he does give out a lot of homework.
He is a good teacher but a hard grader, you must pay attention to class, and always go to class or you wont pass. Also do the homework, all the time, no matter what
Hes a great teacher as long as you show up to class. Miss one day and youre wayyyyy behind. But as far as teaching goes he helps me understand material and goes into depth with every step.
He is passionate about his coursework but Im not a huge fan of the teaching methods. For example being told to purchase a calculator specifically for this class but not being allowed to use it in class at all. Its very fast paced , and nothing is clearly explained enough to truly grasp the concepts in which we are being taught .
Has some interesting stories. Ask a bunch of of things.
This class is good its just that we spend one day on one concept and then move to another concept the next day. So I think we need to spend more time one concepts or chapter
Teaches well and tells funny stories
Mr. Bright explains things very well and gives everyone a chance in the class to answer questions and he doesnt get upset or angry if you get them wrong. His practice tests are very helpful and he will go over a problem you didnt but understands if you ask for help.
I definitely recommend Mr. Bright. He is funny and he is very knowledgeable in math. He explains very clearly. You'll get the grade for the work you put in. I feel comfortable asking a question and I get a clear answer pretty much 100% of the time. There is homework daily but nothing you can't do and that will take all of your time.
Hes good
He is a great professor & he uses good examples to compare the problem to.
He's really enthusiastic about the course and his lectures are fun. However you will work for your grade. He's no nonsense in grading and gives no graces for late assignments. He's a good choice, provided you are ready to be on time for class, homework, tests etc.
I had taken MAT121 last semester and did not pass because that class was too difficult, but after taking Professor Bright MAT121 has been much easier to understand. The daily homework is not scary, and is much better than having a lot due on one day per week. Professor Bright also takes attendance right at class start time. All in all great class!
He's knowledgeable in his field and has funny stories
The first week in his class gives you a overview of how the class is going to be for the semester.
Cool teacher but you will have hw every night and everything is online.
Jason Bright is a teacher that does not give the best impression the first ti me, and is one of those seemingly awkward teachers, but he is a very good teacher, he explains pretty well, does listen to his students when the beginning of the semester had lots and lots of homework, he changed everything to a shorter length, and he also cur ves
Comes off strong at first, but isn't too bad overall. Has a tendency to rush through material when he falls behind on course work. Lots of homework, and has a tendency to take his time to post grades or get grades back to you. Get ready to spend money on Pearson to do homework. Overall not too bad, enjoyable class to take.
Mr. Bright teaches heavily on power point and spends less time doing problems on the board. If your a person who needs explains of problems and how to do them, then i would be hesitate to take Mr. bright
Class is easy if you study or do the work. Attendance matters.
He is a good professor. Sometimes the lessons he explains are a little confusing but then he gives examples and it's easier to understand. His tests are exactly like the study guides but with little changes. If you put in the work to understand the lesson right off the bat, this course shouldn't be a problem at all. Overall he is really nice!
Hes a really clear teacher when it comes to doing examples and explaining procedures. The class is hard but he does a good job helping to simplify it.
All Homework was online be sure not to forget
This class was not very hard. The instructor makes it easy to understand but you do have to be present and engaged in class
he taught the subject well, i was able to understand the materiel, homework and tests!
I think mr. Bright is an all around great professor. He explains things well and does a good job at preparing us for tests. He also has a great sense of humor.
Better be on time or youll get booted.
He is fair when grading the tests
Mostly boring with a monotone voice. Although this lectures are very clear and easy to stay focused on
Mr. Bright was a great professor. At first it may seem like a lot when you start the class but once you get rolling in the semester its not bad at all.
This professor in particular, knows the material very well, and is more than happy to discuss and help you on any homework. Also, has a great sense of humor.
Great at lectures
Mr Bright is a decent instructor however his first priority is the class as a whole rather than offering help on an individual basis outside class times
I have seriously enjoyed this professor for 3 semesters now. Attendance is important to him so make sure to attend class. He is a funny guy and a joy to learn from. His knowledge on the subject being taught is not only amazing but he's extremely helpful if you are stuck or confused. I would definitely recommend him.
Mr Bright provides great detail in his lectures and real world examples of where what we are learning will apply. Im a later in life returning student, he was easy to understand and patient - the things he says make sense. The homework is a great tool to drill the lessons into memory and worth the time to complete. Highly recommend Mr Bright
He is very knowledgeable and passionate about math. He uses a lot of real life examples and is efficient with time. The homework can be a little long but its helpful in the long run. The only problems I had with this class is he doesnt use canvas for grades and can take a while with getting tests back to you.
Very short homework windows, if you have a job you will struggle to keep up. The lectures have gotten less useful as the semester has gone one, meaning much more time self teaching as things are left partially explained. Very glad this is my terminal math class. If you understand math - great teacher. If you struggle, not so much.
Harsh grader small mistakes will get you docked off by whole points. Participate, do the homework and go study off YouTube it will benefit you more.
I needed more clear explanations and vivid examples for the lessons but sometimes they were to broad and he just expected us to know for the tests and homework.
Definitely not a bad professor at all. You're notified of every test a week beforehand, a review is given out and gone over in class, and he's honest about whether or not you need extra help/are likely to pass. Homework does get a bit overwhelming at times though, especially if you have a job
Mr. Bright overall is a great instructor he gives honest feed back and isn't afraid to tell you that you got an answer wrong however I suggest in class always pay attention he is a fast instructor, and do the homework.
Although we would have homework on a daily bases I never seemed to be mad about it because it would always help me understand everything we went over class at a much deeper level then previously. His class was great and it was the most I have learned in a single class in my opinion. So I would definitely take another one of his classes.
Hes a great professor. In my opinion anyway. He tends to use a lot of PowerPoint lessons and read from the board. If youre into that then great take his class. If not then its up to you. He does ask which way of learning you prefer; he tries to switch it up from time to time. Get to class early. If not you will be marked absent. Great professor
My main issue with this class was the fact that youre only allowed to be absent 4 times the whole semester before he withdrawals you. If you have work or a busy schedule this might be a problem for you.
When teaching new material he explains it very well. Adds real life example to make it more attention grabbing. Be there on time or youll be absent zero late tolerance, which I think is a good thing. The only thing is that he is absent himself a bit. I understand life happens but I pay way too much for this class to not be taught by my professor.
Very straight forward and gets to the point. Switches from power points to demonstration depending on the classes learning style. Very undertstanding when it comes to life problems or other things. You will have to put in the work and it wont be easy. Homework is online so if you miss class it still has to be done.
Mr. Bright is a delightful teacher. Although he gives online homework daily, he isnt fair and pleasant. The class is not loud, which provides a calming environment and space for individuals to think. He call soon on students to participate in class, but he will skip you if you do not know the answer to a problem (this helps save embarrassment).
Mr. Bright is very passionate about teaching math and can be a tough grader. However, he provides good explanations when reviewing. The only critique that I have to note is that he has a habit of going on tangents, which can take up class time. He also expects students to read the textbook, so make sure to read.
Overall hes not bad ive had worse but he a heart man the loves to teach even though he dressed like Steve from blues clues one day but hes really nice
He needs to work on listening skills and doesn't really care about your complaints about his teaching. He thinks his way is perfect and will NOT show you any other ways of doing the problems. NO CALCULATOR USE EVER even for the hardest things he expects you to know everything by heart. Doesn't make you feel stupid at least when he calls on you.
*Mr. Bright voice* Goooood Morning! Hes a great teacher you may get flustered towards him at times but hes not all bad. Gives out homework everyday and really you won't pass his test without studying. Book is put to good use but dont buy a hard cover buy the subscription to may math lab and use the online book. His instruction is great plus funny.
Professor Bright is a fun professor to have. Homework is assigned every due and do the next day before class. Tests are a little hard but he gives great study guides that help a lot. Always asks about your day and if theres anything new. Overall a good class and Im glad I took it.
Hes ago man and love to teach lecture seem pretty long and boring but he wants what best for the students that still dont know the material so yea he pretty good at his job
Hes your typical math professor, but hes got a heart. Sure, he assigns daily homework almost night, but hes willing to help. I was not able to pass his class, but thats more my fault. He doesnt allow calculators unless youve got the accommodations for that. He also often assigns tests every week. He also explains concepts relatively well.
Jason Bright is an outstanding professor! I have nothing but positive things to say, hes funny and is really clear with directions and how equations. Hes very specific which is what makes him a good professor, I currently have a B in this class but thats my own doing for skipping some of the homeworks and not studying enough for the second test
Professor Bright breaks up things very well. If test were hard hell give you more point if people have an 80% or high in the class so your test score will go up. He does give some extra credit. If you have an 80% on homework and in class you wont have to take the final if youre happy with your grade in class.
Like a high school teacher, calls on random students in class for answers. Once attendance is submitted you are absent for the day if youre late. Give a review but spends more time calling on people for correct answers than actually making sure concepts are understood Great for people who are really good at math. Not for students who arent.
Mr. Bright was a very good math teacher, and his teaching methods are very good. He gives good PowerPoints for notes and he makes sure we understand the material with a lot of homework. There was a lot of homework in his class, but it wasnt too much to handle. I kind of liked it because it made me understand more of what we were doing.
Good professor overall
Mr Bright's teaching style is good. He makes sure we know the material. He gives test reviews which is something I really appreciate. Attendance is essential.
Dont do enough examples for all problems on homework. Have to teach yourself the rest. Spend too much time telling stories. Need YouTube to teach me problems. Homework every day and dont allow homework on Sunday.
Lets just say I just come for attendance and then go home to teach myself. But he does care for his students
Has homework assigned for everyday of class but is not excessive and lectures are easy to understand, he is good at explaining the concepts. Attendance is a big thing, being even one minute late counts as an absence for the day, but other than that overall a good professor and I enjoyed my time in his class
Mr. Bright is an excellent math teacher. He explains and goes over everything in great detail. Only issue I have is when he asks for answers and you give one thats wrong it feels like he makes you feel dumb about it. I dont think this is intentional but it is something to be aware of. Other than that, everything is easy and straight forward.
If you stay on task and do your homework you will be just fine.
you will get called on every single day
Homework is done at home on the computer. He teaches the material in class. Tests and homework are the only grades in the class. As long as you read the textbook, do well on the homework, and ask questions you will pass the class easily.
He uses real life examples in his lectures which make his lessons easier to understand. He is very professional while making jokes and is an excellent teacher.
Mr. Bright is a tough grader when it comes to tests. He gives good lectures. He posts PowerPoints for review and uses MyMathLab for homework. You will have homework. Attendance is important to him so be in your seat on time. Overall, a good teacher but not for everyone. Be prepared to work.
His class would be easy if math comes easy to you. The way he teaches is by looking at the textbook. If youre a visual learner then dont take this class because hell give you a problem without doing an example first. Make sure to study and read outside of class if you really want to pass his class.
Im a very visual learner so I wish more criteria was covered in the classroom instead of me having to go teach it to myself through an online power point. Your only grades are homework and the chapter exams that are given. The weight of those exams are very heavy. Definitely not a class you can just cruise through.
I think that he does explain the subject very well. I had no problem understanding what he was teaching. I think that you can pass the class easily if you pay attention in class and do well on tests. The homework is relatively easy, but sometimes its a bit tedious. Class was okay in my opinion.
He does a good job at explaining but he does not go over many examples. I have to watch youtube to understand the lecture and get a good grip what the lesson was about. The thing I really like is how he gives out a practice test and it makes the actual test much more easier.
He opened the homework up for the entire first half of the semester to allow us to catch up. He also gave us a quiz that counts towards our grade and not against it. Good opportunities to catch your grade back up. Very kind person. Jokes are wholesome. Classic math teacher (in the good way).
Very good about explanations and backgrounds of math before we going to learn in each chapter. Test preview are very helpful but I think it need more time to preview.
Mr. Bright explains and goes over all the material in great detail. He gives homework for every chapter which is very helpful to understand the chapter. He also gives practice test before every exam. Just box all of your answers on exam and dont come to class late or youll be count as absent. Overall hes really good math teacher.
Bright is a solid professor who makes his expectations clear and puts effort into teaching well, and that effort shows.
There's always homework so always having to check is important but if we dont go over the topic it's not really assigned and hes understanding about it. Hes not scare to drop kids. Lastly his lectures make sense, it's made the understanding of the concept easier.
Hes ok. Just do your homework and youll pass.
Super boring and he teaches as if we were in grade school. Uses real life examples like how to build a wall or something in construction just to end it by saying well learn the pythagorean theory? Missing 3 days will get you DROPPED even if it were an emergency or whatever. He does not care. Doesnt take the time to help students.
Nice guy. Knows his stuff, but is not that great at teaching it. Hw every day, but if you dont turn it in online before deadline, you cant make it up. Sometimes hell open all the past hw up for a day.. Tests arent that bad or long. Usually he curves if class does bad which is cool. Takes forever to start lesson though like 20-30min. Ok class.
Makes you do a lot of homework and only grades a few things .
Pretty good teacher, I've learned a ton in his class.
I dont mind the teaching style of the class but sometimes the pace is extremely fast at times at it makes it hard to follow and I would suggest every now and again clarifying with the class if the pace is not to slow or fast and just to make sure everyone is on task and understands the material
Although the class can be difficult if you do not apply yourself, he is a great teacher. He helps you become responsible for yourself and your work, being that he leaves it to the students to decide whether theyll do the work or not.
Very straightforward and dry sense of humor, but teaching method and class notes are perfectly useful for understanding the material.
Confusing when he talks. Teaches the basics. Basically be ready to teach yourself most of the material learned in class. In class pay real close attention or you wont know what he's talking about. Okay teacher.
Although he gives out a lot of homework, hes an amazing professor and teaches very well. Hes also hilarious so thats a big pro. I definitely recommend taking his class.
goes off topic alot and explains things to where someone on his level will understand by the time he stops his rants youve forgotten everything hes said
MAT151 is a great course, makes you work, which is good. My only problem is, that I havent done algebra, math in a while, so my critical thinking skills arent so nominal as they used to be.
Dope guy would take again!
hes a great teacher he just is very precise with everything including grading & attendance. attendance policy is not more than 4 absences or youll get dropped.
Mr. Bright is a very thorough math teacher. Attendance matters & homework is assigned daily.
If you are an auditory learner than he's a great teacher but if not he may not be the best choice. He mainly talks but will use PowerPoints on occasion. He really only does one to three problems in class and they only go over small parts in the homework. There is homework daily and he will sometimes reopen assignments. Overall he's a good teacher.
Dont show up? Youll be dropped. Only grades test and homework so make sure you know the material because test are a major impact to your grade.
Great teacher but the class is not an easy grade. You will have to actively seek office time with him in order to get one on one help. Homework platform was online and I am a more traditional "problems from the book" guy but the platform is good for knowing if you understand something or not. Lectures can be confusing but can also be interesting.
He is very set in how he does things which isnt bad. He is pretty funny a little awkward sometimes, takes a bit of time to get to used to him, but overall a good teacher. What he teaches isnt always whats on the homework but gives great study guides for the tests.
It is very difficult to have a job and take this class at the same time. Homework every night and if you miss the deadline for it then you better hope he opens the homework at some point. It is very lecture heavy and I appreciate his humor and real life examples but can be difficult for those who are visual learners or other types of learners.
Always explains the logic of the math he's teaching and gives very insightful answers to questions. He keeps things engaging with his dry humor which is actually really funny because it really matches his personality. Great guy overall and very insightful on things other than math. Ask him questions!
Good teacher very clear and everything is in my lab including homeworks and the textbook. The only thing is that you have to study for the tests. Other than that respectable teacher
Mr. Bright is organized with the course material, which makes it easier when it comes to study for an exam. However, there is not a lot of note taking, so it all comes down on the student to write down the notes that seem more appropriate for them. He is a very charismatic and sarcastic person, with a tremendous sense of humor.
Great instructor overall. Portrays information well. Can tend to get off topic resulting in self teaching end of section topics. Has short homework windows, but does allow for re-subbitions twice a semester. Very knowledgable and concise. Tells funny jokes and learn cool facts about the world.
Extremely set into his own routine of teaching which may not jive well with some folks - lots of rushing through PowerPoints with almost no time to take notes. He will post PowerPoints for further viewing after class if you ask. Doesnt go over a lot of things that will turn up on homework. Gives study guides that basically mirror the exams though.
Good guy. If you dont go to class you wont understand the work. Like to tell stories and jokes, funniest part about his joke is himself laughing at his own joke. Gets anxiety during test review. Enjoys this class.
Hard to have a job. Submits homework one at a time. Can't get ahead on homework. Does not allow homework on weekends, Saturday by 8am. Tell too many stories, instead of showing how to do different math problems. E-book needed. Too controlling. He thinks his way is the only way. No calculator allowed. Find 3digit sq rt by pencil on 50 min test day.
Hes a cool guy but his teaching style is not the greatest. He rushes too much & doesnt answer your questions clearly. He absent policy is not the greatest and the homework he assigns is unclear and very confusing.
He was awful at responding to emails and is not understanding in the slightest. He is very unprofessional and has an insanely big ego.
Mr. Bright is the cockiest teacher ever. He requires your camera to be straight on, you cant have it even slightly off center. You can to go in person for all tests and when asked what about if they interferes with another class he states he is the BEST teacher and we should drop our other class. If you turn your camera off at any point he marks yo
This professor was great, his test was really hard. I hope he can see this and help be a little more generous of everything thats going on around us.
I took online class. Dont understand something on the homework? He will say you should understand it and theres not enough time to go over it. Dont understand the lecture? He will say u should know this & should drop the class & take MAT114. Must have camera on; if u move your camera he will turn it off and mark you absent. 5min late mark absent
He has a dull personality. When I asked him for help he responded with you shouldve known that by now. He is also a terrible test grader. I do not recommend.
Terrible at grading and always late to put things in. Homework is inconsistent and has them due at different times of the day. He asks you not to take notes because its not learning. He requires you to take a 25 question test in 45 minutes. He never starts test on time so you lose time. Asking for help isnt a bad, he will tell you to look at book
Mr. Bright is one of the best professors Ive had. He is so kind and is always ready to help his students. Although I had an almost two hour class with him, it went by so fast because his lectures were fun.
This Professor is strict on time, making sure everything is planned and on time. His teaching is very straight forward and he teaches multiple ways of doing problems to find what works best.
He is a really good teacher, with a very teaching mode. He is a very nice person.
Simple lectures and home work assignments , be prepared to talk in class
Fair teacher he is willing to help you also outside of class hours so I recommend you go to his office hours /math lab if you struggle with math in general like I do .
To be honest, He's ok but He doesn't let us use a calculator because he said everything is easy which is for some people whoever taking this class it's hard. He's very lenient about the class attendance like after he's done with taking attandance and if you're not there on time, he marks you absent. I recommend that don't take this class at all.
The professor handled the class in a professional manner including his teaching methods throughout the course of the class. The professor was able to convey the material clearly and swiftly. He used his knowledge of the materials taught throughout the course. In doing so, the assignments planned out for students were clear and understandable
The professor did a good job on teaching in class and trying to keep us on schedule. He involved us when going over homework and would give us chances to redeem ourselves if we got a question wrong by answering another question if we thought we got it right. However attendance wise I feel like was too strict. Other than that the class was ok
Passive aggressive, sarcastically mean, not an encourager. Called out a student for no reason. For being just out of homeschooling a very nerve wracking and terrible experience. Would not suggest going into his class.
He is a very smart and professional professor who shows he cares about the material he teaches in the way he presents himself in class.
Mr. Bright has helped me understand graphing which is one of my biggest weakness in math. Every time I had a question he would explain it in simple terms to help not only me but the rest of the class to understand as well.
The teacher is straight up to the student and tell how it is to his students. Hes usually avaible after class if you need to help with a asighnments or need to study. Class goes by pretty quick due to time constraint. Other then that hes clear, and to the point when it comes to homework. He always ask hows everyone, and sometime talk ahout himself.
Tough attendance policy (30 seconds late is still an absence), and the tests make massive difference in your grade. That said, he's a fair grader who understands the content very well. He's available to help outside of class when you need it. It can be hard, but that's a college math course for you.
He is pretty well organized and on track with his list of objectives. Every day I was there I was learning something new.
Do what he asks and the class will be a breeze.
Professor Bright is extremely knowledgeable in this course and does a good job at explaining these complex and convoluting examples into something where many high school graduates can understand
Overall a decent teacher, just not the best fit for everyone.
He gives a clear understanding on the lectures and gives a good amount of homework even on the weekends.
Mr. Bright is clear when it comes to what he expects from students and what he expects in his class. There is no room for misinterpretation. Mr. Bright is able to explain the material he teaches in more than one way so that students with different learning capabilities are able to understand. Mr. Bright is very accessible outside of the classroom.
Professor Bright is strict but fair about his rules and standards. He explains everything throughly and gives clear instruction. He does require to see him in office hours for help for questions not related to a problem or section.
Don't expect normal assignments just homework and test not bad
He is GREAT
To be honest, he's okay. The homework load is not heavy except sometimes he gives out homework and everyone does it but then he extends it the next day (he doesn't seem to email students about extensions), no calculators. Lectures are okay, he goes very fast but his way of explaining confusing things from the textbooks helps a lot.
Mr. Bright is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about math. He is very strict with what he expects in his classroom but he is very fair. He does not allow phones out during his class which I respect. If you like to occasionally skip class and chill this is not the right teacher for you. Attendance is very important.
Said a Calculator was necessary and recommended renting one at the beginning of the year but we only used it twice and he provided them. Gets better as the year goes on and the class widdles down. If you pay attention and take half-decent notes you'll have no problem on tests. Gives topics that will be on the tests which is super helpful.
Regular math teacher nor excellent or bad. I don't suggest Mr.Bright to any student taking MAT151 or any other class. If you are 30 seconds late after the class is supposed to start he will mark you as Absent.(Not tardy or late) but absent. For a class YOU are paying MONEY for. "Never Give the little man power" A quote to remember.
Professor Bright is a decent instructor at best, you should not expect much help or leniency when it comes to homework and especially quizzes/test. He grades very harshly despite if your answer is correct, and will drop you after 2 absences regardless if you have a doctors note or anything of reason. The worst part of his class is he hardly teaches
Overall was a good professor. He is pretty strict on policies (attendance, late, technology use) but I liked his general teaching style. He gives all of the resources you need to be successful in this course. The only big downside was his tendency to sometimes go off course during a lecture which took time away from the material.
Professor Bright is a good guy and is good to have conversations with. Be aware that attendance is strict along with grading. Very knowledgeable on the content and ties in real world application to make the content more accessible.
Expect a lot of lectures and problems. Some words might be confusing but try not to overthink it.
This call was overall okay. I had some difficulties catching up with the notes because he talks fast and there'd be a lot of words to write. After he finishes talking he'll go to the next slide leaving me with half the notes. He also does things his own way to which is helpful but sometimes confusing
I think attendance is the only thing you need to really know about. Plan to be here every class and not miss any days.
Good teacher, very thorough with mater
This class was pretty good. He is an excellent math teacher, for me at least. He explains where concepts come from which makes it easier to learn and understand. I would take his class again. However attendance is mandatory.
Teacher is great
easy class
He makes learning more clear and also step by step problem solving.
If you're thinking about taking MAT121 I think this professor is a good way to go, because he gives great lectures and and makes sure to communicate with the students, he likes to connect math with real world situations, and he has a great sense of humor.
Mr.Bright knows all the content he is teaching very well, but his teaching style will not be for everyone. Your grade is extremely dependent on how well you do in tests, and then there will be lots of Hw do at random days of the week. Take good notes, do hw and do good on tests and you will be good. Otherwise plan on retaking with another teacher
This class will be mostly graded by how well you do in tests. There is no extra credit assignments and be prepared for note taking as long as you pay attention in class you will do great.
He's great professor and talks with us during our given breaks and personal responsibility when it comes to online homework and studying is expected. He's pretty fair when it comes to grading.
He is a good professor, I recommend him to you.
Tests are hard, but if you study for them you will do great, instruction in class is really helpful and one minute late you are absent.
My favorite math teacher ever focuses on the concepts instead of just pushing through the text book
You cannot miss or be late to class. Class is lectured based, but he does a great job at getting core concepts and important information across rather than simply read of the PowerPoints/textbook. He is good at getting you engaged and has everyone participate. Overall great professor and guy.
I took Prof. Bright for 2 semesters. I actually really liked him, but there are things to mention. He is a TOUGH grader. His tests are very difficult! However, I think he is a good teacher. He has a great personality and talks to his students. But don't be late at all EVER! If you are late even by a minute, you will be counted absent!
Mr. Bright is one of the worst professors at GCC. His teaching style is poor and the examples he teaches are nothing like the homework assignments. The tests are the majority of your grade and he grades the test strictly. I think he has a lot of knowledge regarding math, but should not be a teacher. He also strict on attendance.
His lecture videos leave out material that is in the homework & rambles a lot. Tests are heavily weighted & no calculators allowed. Doesn't give good feedback; felt like I had to teach myself. Attendance MATTERS! If you don't engage with canvas or the homework for 72 hours he will remove you from the course. His teaching style is not for everyone.
Mr. Bright made concepts sound a lot harder than they actually are. I appreciate his knowledge of math but other than that, he is a TOUGH grader, hard to reach, and some of his lectures contained small errors which confused me. The HW was on mymathlab, a lot of it I had to teach myself because it was not in his lecture videos. 2/10 class for me.
He was great. I missed a test due to my own mistake and he let me make up for allowing the other tests to be graded more heavily to make up for the missed one. Overall a great professor.
I am not the best at math. This class made me feel like I was good at it because Bright puts it in a way many can understand. Bright is mostly laidback but strict when it counts. So just be respectful and listen and ask questions, he is happy to help. There is lots of homework I'd like to mention, so getting it done early in advance helps.
Professor Bright is a tough but fair grader. While his tests are challenging, his lectures are engaging and he really focuses on understanding the core concepts. Unstuckstudy AI was a big help for prep.
Mr. Bright is very knowledgeable about math, too knowledgeable. Very similar to a strict high school teacher, attendance matters and no phones. He talks very straight forward with no room for compassion or emotions. Biggest take away he is a great teacher, very smart but he is not for everyone.
This professor requires participation every 72 hours whether that is watching his videos (which you can sometimes hear him slurping a drink, I assume) or working in Pearson. No late work is accepted.I just didn't learn best in this type of environment. I think he should try to provide strategies to help students remember the material.
He is not very motivational as a professor he tends to make announcements stating if you have a certain grade that you should not be in his class. His teaching style is not the best if you struggle with math. Talking to him after class is a struggle as he is in a rush to leave. Overall wait for fall to take a math class.
The days that I would have his class I would wake up and immediately start crying.
Extremely slow, takes 25 min per question. Videos to help on canvas to help hw make the HW harder.
Maybe it's just me but it is impossible to learn in his class, and it feels like he doesn't want to be here he's always in a rush to leave after class and Im halfway through the semester and still don't have access to the homework
Slow lectures and your grade rely heavy on test grades only. He takes really long to complete one question, and the explanations are complicated. The homework isn't saving your grade, and he doesn't allow you to make up, do extra credit, or retake any test so if you fail one test just drop that class because you won't save your grade.
The first 30 minutes of the first few weeks of class was spent with him lecturing us on how we didn't belong in his class. He is the slowest teacher ever, and he will also laugh at you in front of the whole class if you answer wrong. He was also gone for 1/3 of the classes without warning and he will not tell you if his office hours are cancelled.
If you're homework smart don't take the class. It is only 15% of the grade and tests make up most of it. If you're math smart and get things quickly this will be absolutely no worry. Homework isn't very important.
Get ready to study
At first I didn't think I'd like this instructor because his class was challenging and demanding. I still have it my best shot and even after I missed the final, he showed genuine kindness by allowing me to take it and even making sure I had a calculator for it. The class is hard, but worth it if you put in effort and show mutual respect.
