GOOD INSTRUCTOR
he a good straight foward teacher u will learn with him.
Very good teacher, didnt like how we had to type alot of the grammar homework but loved how we discussed the stories from the book.
AWSOME TEACHER!!! I ENJOY ATTENDING HIS CLASS. HE IS EASY GOING, LOVE THE DISCUSSIONS THAT ARE MADE AFTER READING STORIES. VERY HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING.
He is a very helpful and easy going teacher. His teaching skills are very useful and effective. There should be no reason to not pass his class
He's a great instructor & very positive. You will engage and have a good time while becoming more knowledgeable. I was able to become a great writer in a small amount of time. If you are interested in learning and not just passing a class because it's a requirement I suggest you join his class.I just loved his class, and I'm not an English person.
He's only the BEST english professor in LBCC! I highly recommend him! i hate english (grammar and reading), and honestly he turned it around for me. You will need the book, he's not a teacher that assigns books and never has you use it. SERIOUSLY TAKE HIM!
Such a great teacher!. had him for englsih 801A,Englsih 801B, and English 105. He explains things cleary and will work with you if you need the help on anything. He is very understanding and passionate about his work. I suck at english and then i entered his class and made me so much better at my writing skills. I appreciate teachers like him.
I just had him this summer for English 105. He is the best English teacher out there. Because of him, my grammar has magnificently improved. Also, my sentence skills have improved. Overall, my writing has improved. He is very helpful, and he helped me out a lot. I recommend everyone to take him. Plus, he is very passionate about his teaching.
One of the most passionate instructors about his profession that you will ever meet. Prof Casem has very high EXPECTATION of his students. If you are not committed I suggest you take another instructor. My only regret is that I took him in the summer. I cheated myself out of the full Casem EXPERIENCE of TEACHING! Thank You
WOW-although summer class is intense, if you go in ready to learn, he is the best. However, if you want to skate-find another teacher. Participation a MUST. A great experience I will take with me throughout my education.
This teacher brought his experience back to give others a chance to receive all that he has learned. His passion about writing has help me become better writer. Participation is a most..Thank you professor!!!
Prof Casem is great! His online class ENG 105 was a breeze. Every week usually MONDAY he posts up new weekly assignments. Lots of reading contained of reading PDF files and answering comprehension questions. Quizzes are easy too just take notes. OVERALL EASY CLASS! Highly recommended
His class is not easy but heis willing to give as much assistant as possible.you must show interest or he will call you out .he give a quiz after every reading.he uses a world of ideas and e readings a very difficult..he you like a challenge take his classif you are looking for an easy A don't bother
Your reading and writing will definitely improve with this inspiring teacher. He will show interest and engage you to learn. If you want to improve your English skills, he's the perfect one for you. A lot of quizzes, classwork, and homework straight from the textbook, but you will see results.
Expect to read and write in his class. Casem will call on you to participate. I enjoyed our discussions on writing and how writers work at creating. No textbook assigned but a lot of downloaded files every week. He's passionate about teaching.
He makes learning fun. He is passionate about his work and makes sure you learn to pass the class. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Helpful and he's there if you need him. Grading is tough, he expects a different writing style than any other professor I've had. His prompts for the essays are simple to answer but he just wants too much from what can be answered in one or two paragraphs. Overall, meh.
I have to admit, Professor Casem's class is the most difficult class I have taken, but he taught me how to think and write like a college student. Don't take this class if you expect to skate by. He's passionate about his work.
Professor Casem is the best English instructor at LBCC. He expects a lot of effort. He loves his work and will help when you ask. He's all business, so don't plan to just get by.
Inspires you to keep working hard and not to give up in the class and on yourself. Also, would help if you are unsure about what yo are doing in assignments and on essays. Overall, i have to admit the class was difficult but i have to remind you that the class i took was a compressed class (2 in 1 in just 16 weeks).
Professor Casem is amazing. He holds students accountable for claiming their own education. He is demanding because he cares about students and will expect you to take what you learn beyond the classroom. I've never had a teacher like Casem. He will challenge you to be better than you imagine yourself to be. He will be difficult if you're lazy.
Professor Casem is the best teacher I have ever had. Not only does he take the time to make sure everyone understands the material, but he makes himself available for students if they need extra help. He's one the few teachers who still cares about the success of their students. If you want to excess in life, then take his class.
Great teacher. The class in general was a life changing event. He will give great assignments. Do not expect to skip by this class he is serious. I highly recommend him for any english course he teaches.
Mr. Casem is an outstanding but demanding professor. He does not waste class flirting with ladies. He will teach you how to analyze and write essays very well. Expect to get a good grade with him if you do all your homework essays. He is very kind and understanding, but does not accept excuses. He is an excellent teacher. I strongly recommend him.
Professor Casim is inspirational. If you try very hard, you will learn a lot from him regardless of your previous background. I learned in two of Mr. Casims's courses twice as much as I learned in several classes. Although I came with an English as a Second language background, I was able to write complete essays in Mr. Casim's classes. Thank you!
His class was extremely helpful with knowing how to write essays better. I would say he is caring, but not about you personally. He cares about you learning what he is teaching. You will be forced to present your essays in class a lot and he is "real", almost cruel. Overall, the class was very informative! No textbook only a packet!
Professor Casem treats his students with respect and demands that his students treat themselves with respect. He wants you to become a better thinker and writer. He is real, so don't take him lightly. If you want slack off, find another English instructor.
The man is straight forward and doesn't play games. he demands his students to be critical thinkers and will push for it. Classroom participation is a must and so are his reading but he is very willing to help and will take as long as need be to assist any of his students struggling, but do not expect an easy class
I do not recommend taking a class with him. He is one of the worst teachers I've ever taken. He doesn't care about the students. If you don't turn in one assignment, you are dropped. Students also have to read their rough drafts and final drafts in front of the class and he literally humiliates them. There's more but I don't have more space.
Professor Casem expects a lot participation in class. He really cares about his job, so he gets really upset when you do not try or do not complete the homework. Almost every week, he makes you share your essay in front of the class, which I don't find helpful.
Professor Casem takes his job seriously and expects students to treat themselves with respect. He taught me how to struggle through essays to be a better writer. He has no time for flakes or people who want to be treated like they're in high school. He is by far the most caring teacher I ever had. If you want to cruise by, don't take his class.
Take him! He's an amazing teacher who loves his work. I returned to college after 20 years of working at various underpaid jobs. Professor Casem challenged me to think for myself and control my ideas in writing. He doesn't deal with nonsense. You have to do all the work and show up for class. He inspired me to not settle for cheap hopes and dreams!
Take him! He's an amazing teacher who loves his work. I returned to college after 20 years of working at various underpaid jobs. He inspired me to not settle for cheap hopes and dreams!
Best teacher ever!!! interesting lectures and very helpful!! TRUST ME!
Professor Casem is very passionate about creative writing, which was the course I took with him last semester. He is really interested in what his students are bringing to the writing table and encourages everyone to participate. He requires you to present your work in front of the class and your fellow classmates to critique your piece.
He's very passionate and inspirational, he lets you know that whatever effort you put into the class, is what you'll get out of it. One of the best teachers I've had at LBCC.
Professor Casem taught me the importance of understanding how my classroom learning is relevant to life. He demands a lot from his students and believes that hard work and struggle make them better people. He's is the best teacher I have had. He won't put up with laziness or nonsense.
I majored in English and earned my BA years ago. I took English 51 to work on my fiction and wasn't expecting much from a community college creative writing course. Professor Casem is a phenomenal instructor. His guidance and method to teaching fiction is far beyond exceptional. His intensity to the craft motivated me to do my best work.
Kind of rude.
He pretends to know how to teach the course and bullies and harasses students, humiliating and laughing at them in front of the class. His written feedback is unhelpful and often nonsense, and he does funny business with students grades. In class, he spends the majority of lectures repeating himself constantly because he has nothing to say.
I visited his office hours & he gave little feedback, made me feel as if I was bothering him. The class did not provide a comfortable work environment as he would get upset when you were hesitant to display your papers to the class, which made everyone afraid he would make them. He was rude and not very approachable. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
He taught me how to think for myself and express my ideas with conviction. Prof. Casem demands a lot from his students and many struggle with his expectations to make you a better thinker. He's always willing to help and often suggests a unique perspective to your approach to an issue. Best English teacher I ever had!
I LOVE CASEM!! He taught me how to think critically and not depend on others but myself. He is very passionate about his job and he wants you to work for your grade. Dont take him if you want an easy class but if you want to learn and do better TAKE HIM!! He is not a easy teacher but at the end you learn alot from him. Get ready to present!
Much like a typical high school teacher: throws shade about you if you go to the restroom or talk a lot when you aren't there, humiliates students (like when you get something wrong), etc. Grades mainly on essays that you also have to present in front of the class.
Professor Casem wants you to succeed. Be prepared to do the read and write your essays. If you skip class, be ready to fail.
Don't get fooled by his ratings. He's such a good professor. For english 1h, his class is super small which is better for the students because he's able to help us a lot more. He's such an underrated professor and deserves so much more attention. He gives good feedback and is able to help you out during his office hours!!
Best Professor ever!
His class makes you THINK. I liked the material presented+discussed in class but he's v stubborn and self-righteous, even to the students who show up every class and try. At the beginning of the semester, we had 36 kids. Mid-semester: 18. By the end of the year: 5. I'll let you make your own conclusions...
Lectures and class discussion is great however his character is horrible! He is rude and puts students on the spot. Does not care to humiliate you in front of the class. He does not understand that we are there to learn and not everyone grasps to lectures as fast as he would like us to do so. Stay away from him!!
When I signed up for his ENGL 1H class, I was really intimidated by his reviews. He expects a lot from his students and challenged us a lot. We had long reading assignments and 4 essays throughout the semester. He does put students on the spot but only when they aren't pulling their weight. A lot of people dropped went from about 22 to 11 students.
Horrible professor. Belittle's students all the time. He provides his own textbook. Hardest class I've had to take at LBCC. 100% not recommended. He's aware of his bad reviews yet doesn't do anything to change. If he doesn't like the topic of your essay, he will make fun of it in front of the whole class. If possible don't take English with him.
Casems Honors class is better than any AP course I took in high school. Most is the class earned As and Bs on the last essay! Hes engaging and passionate.
I would 100% take his class again. He is one of the best english teachers i've ever had, he cares deeply about furthering student's knowledge, and integrates real world application to his lectures. I look forward to attending his class and would recommend it to anyone. Mr. Casem uses philosophical ideas and applies them to modern society. 10/10 man
Great professor! Gives really good feedback and genuinely cares about the success of his students. His class has really helped me improve on my writing skills. Wish I could take him for my next English class.
He will make you a better writer. I did not like english class before this & he made me more confident in my writing. He cares about your grade and what you have to say during discussions.
If you have doubts about taking his class, please do. His lectures are amazing and he provides feedback that will make your writing improve! Do the readings and participate and you will be fine.
Professor Casem i s a skilled writing professor and effective moderator in this writing workshop class. The workload is manageable, he has a casual rapport with students and provides useful feedback and encouragement on your writing.
I found him to be gruffed at first but as the semester went on I understood it to be his way of weeding out the non-writers. You are writing from week 2 until end of the semester with great workshops to critique your work, insightful feedback from the teacher. I loved the class it made me grow and discover new things about my writing abilities.
Before I took this class with Professor Casem I absolutely hated English class. He doesn't make you feel less of yourself when you share your own opinions on something and he helps open your mind to many different views on topics. PARTICIPATION IS KEY!! Just participate and you'll love his class. If you don't you'll be stuck and annoyed trust me!
He makes you read text every week. Some of them are hard to understand but if you ask him for help he won't hesitate. You have to read before coming to class and be ready to answer questions. PARTICIPATION is key for this class! Also his writing assignments aren't hard just have an understanding of everything :) He's very helpful & wants u 2 pass!
Transitioning to online classes seemed like it was going to be a difficult semester, but Professor Casem adapted well to staying organized and making sure to be a available to help when needed.
During my first semester of college, Professor Casem has shown me that I have the ability to improve everyday. He's such a good professor who really wants students to learn and engage in every lecture. His class takes a lot of effort from students, he has such a great way to teach that anybody is able to learn through this difficult times.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another". Professor Casem's English 3 class provides an open floor for great discussions revolving around controversial and hard-hitting topics that will challenge you to consider different perspectives and fearlessly take a stance with what you believe in. This class will refine you and level you up!
Professor Casem made English 3 an enjoyable class. The readings he chose for the class challenged your outlook and allowed you to grow. The writing assignments have allowed me to better my writing capabilities and find my writing style. I recommend you to take this class and not be discouraged by the difficulty level, the class is well worth it.
Professor Casem did a great job keeping everyone engaged during our zoom meetings and encourages students to find their voice when writing papers. I would would definitely recommend him for anyone who wants to learn how to write an argumentative essay more effectively.
Professor Casem is vey honest in the class. He stresses participation and group discussions. The course material is thought provoking and you need to use critical thinking. 3 major essays and some side work. Casem is always available to help and wants you to dive deep into the material. Treats you like adults and is very up front with expectations.
Professor Casem treats all of his students fairly, as adults & constantly encouraged open conversation from us. Casem was always straight forward with assignments, what he expected from us, and anything not mentioned in class was posted on canvas. Communication with any teacher is key, but Casem was especially responsive and cared about our success
He's a great professor! Get ready to participate and write a few papers but overall the class was not difficult for me. He really cares about helping his students and is very willing to give helpful feedback. Take him!!
In my opinion Professor Casem was a good teacher. The essay prompts were easy to understand and he answered questions well. One thing about this class though is that physically being in class DOES matter. If you miss over 3 classes you could fail the class. He's not really a hard grader he really just wants to see that you actually tried.
This is a subject rarely taught, and Prof. Casem is very comprehensive in his approach to it. Teaches in an informal, intimate way, more like a guide than a master. Gives excellent, detailed feedback, and all students participate in each other's projects by giving their views. It's a forum, not a lecture, class. Perfect for writers.
He is disrespectful to students, gives an insane amount of reading for a short amount of time. Doesn't consider other classes and constantly picks at students. I seriously thought of dropping out bc of him. I dreaded showing up to his class because of his character. I received an A but i cried all semester. Take any other teacher for english 2.
I would personally would never take him again he has made me cry many times and I dreaded going to that class every time I went. He never took into consideration that other people had other classes as well. I would not recommend taking this person.
Professor Casem keeps the class engaged and encourages students to participate. He respects students' perspectives and creativity. Be prepared to read, write, and earn your grade. Best writing instructor I ever had.
Loved him! Great and funny guy! Lectures were always interesting! If you do the work, you should be more than fine!
Really enjoyed going to his class. He's a cool and funny guy, and you can tell that he wants his students to succeed. Definitely recommend if you're willing to put in the work!
The lectures are long and honestly so dry. He is super strict on assignments and don't let something happen to you either ,I promise you he does not care.Avoid this class if you are actually trying to learn because Prof.Casem is not the way to go at all..
He's a very straightforward guy and is true to himself. Every English class will have a heavy workload, theres no avoiding it, but he broke down the bigger assignments into manageable chunks. Had about a month to write essays which is a good timeframe. He's not a harsh grader and loves class participation.
Professor Casem is a great teacher for the fiction workshop. He offers a lot of office hours and zoom meetings with students that really shows how much he cares about not only the craft of writing fiction but how much he cares for helping you improve your narrative. You will improve as a writer in this class. Highly recommend him.
As the director of a writing workshop, Prof. Casem is great. His writing workshop is a place to explore and to develop. Explore everything, develop in every way. Each student writes, giving their work to the community of writers in the room, and each student receives feedback from the community. Prof. Casem kindly and alertly guides the process.
Professor Casem is a great instructor and provides pheonomical constructive critisicm. Students may percieve him to be harsh, but he does it in the best interest if his students; he truly wants us to succeed. We had 3 essays where directed and develop our arguments. I am not the best writer but with his instruction i was able to get A's on all 3.
i took this professor for honors so it was a lot of work, where i even wrote a whole essay in one night (mostly because i procrastinated). hes real chill, though you can only have 5 or 6 absences. and im a shy person so i didnt enjoy the class all that much cause it was a lot of group/partner work lol, but it was tolerable. hes a good professor tho
During "silent" class activities he singles a students out by calling them over and criticized their work OUT LOUD in front of everyone. Another time he called me to the front, put my work on the projector, then showed it the class as an example of what NOT to do. It was my VERY FIRST college class and I felt like I was in Whiplash. Not cool man.
Prof. Casem expects students to show up and participate with thoughtful commentary. He will call on you. Second half of the course is 100% workshopping your colleagues' work as a group; earlier workshopping was in pairs and threes for more in-depth discussion. He is an absolute sweetheart, caring, involved, detailed feedback on style and technique.
He cares deeply about his students understanding the material and their OWN writing; he will always accommodate students who need it, but does not accept laziness; no half-effort. Workshopping is always unanimous OR optional and is only professional constructive criticism; NO ONE is singled out. Do the work, care 1/2 as much as him, you'll do fine.
