His is the best Statistics Professor in Ryerson. I enjoyed his class very much. A lot of business examples.
The Best Math Professor in town.
I enjoy his teaching style. Best of the best. I am doing my second course CQMS202.Very clear explanation. Very helpful.
I can barely understand him cuz of his accent. Try your best to avoid him. Also he exploded a couple of times when ppl asked for help...or when he thought they weren;t giving him the respect he deserved.
Hillarious. Extremely lame-but that's why he's funny. Highly recommend.
First of all, what that person said below is a bunch a froth!!! People were disrespectful to the prof, so he doesn't tolerate rudeness!!! U need to pay attention in class and just do the hwk and your okay!!! He's not a bad teacher, if you can't understand his accent maybe he's not the right prof. for you then!! MAKE a proper CHEAT SHEET!!!
He is a great prof. He is very clear and goes through numerous examples in class to help students fully understand all the concepts. He also goes out of his way to remember most of his students names. He has a good teaching style and has a good sense of humor which makes the class more interesting.
Extremely clear and concise! But don't come to class if you're not planning to learn. He tells you what to expect and you should expect what he tells you. He goes over many similar questions on exams and quizzes.
The Greatest statistic professor in Ryerson University
he is a awesome..take his class definitely. he is extremely helpful.
This guy made me angry ALL THE TIME!!!
Great test. Good notes.
He second Quiz is reasoable if you studied.I got 90 because I studied his notes. I like his notes very much. Study his notes if you want A. Very helpful.
I jus
He teaches EXTREMELY well. In class we take up the 3 hours doing examples, but this is great. He gives so many exam review questions and does an amazing review. Definitely best prof for Stats. Take him!
This is the best teacher at Ryerson. He puts so much into the course. I hope he knows he is much appreciated.
he's REALLY funny.. its as if he knows that he has a funny accent and capitalizes on it! His notes are EXTREMELY helpful! Always attend class as he tends to also explain important extra stuff.. honestly I didnt have to read any material in the textbook I just did the homework questions and reviewed his notes and aced the midterm!
Clear, concise method of teaching. Tells you what you need to do good on the exams. I took a 3 year break between stats one and he brought me up to date after the first class. He doesn't waste time on teaching theories and stuff, only what you need for the exam.
I really enjoyed his class. He repeated the material many times. Gave good example questions to practice at home. If you do the review question, you should be okay for the final exam.
AMAZING PROF! SO EASY. Just go to class and do the exam review questions
Amazing prof!! He's so helpful! The whole class is just working on examples, and the tests come straight from these examples! I'm awful in math/stats, but he made all the concepts make sense!
The BEST proff at ryerson do his reviews and go to class dont need textbook the best stats proff ever TAKE HIM !!!
THE BEST PROFF FOR SATISTICS at ryerson. Just go to class do the review questions and you will do amazing no need for text book best proff ever TAKE HIM !!!
I passed the first stats course with a 70, and then after taking qms202 with this prof I had to drop it. Terrible prof.
Very hard to understand, gets easily frustrated. Gotta understand the concepts completely from his lectures or it'll be tough to teach yourself. exams and tests are fair though
Very nice prof, hes really funny and doesnt try to be,very basic format for tests, makes it easy for everyone and teaches really well, easy A- at least
Absolutely fantastic prof; I never liked math but I loved this class! It was at 9AM on Saturday and I looked forward to it. Teaching method is extremely practical & effective. Notes & reviews are perfect; open to help you whenever, if he?s free he?ll meet you at school. Additionally he helps you to work with older textbook & calculator editions!
Amazing prof, we do soo much example in class and tests are just like the examples. i am gona take qms442 regression analysis wit him next semester. i got a gud grade, and he's an easy marker but you have to do your part n review n be prepared. there are no suprises
amazing professor! class is a must, but it pays off. His tests, midterms and exam are based on all his notes. If you understand when to use the formulas you'll easily ace this class. all it takes is a little studying :)
this prof needs to stop commenting on his own ratemyprof profile....really obvious that all these comments are from him...
Wow i'm HORRIBLE in math but this prof is excellent! No need to buy textbook, going to class is definitely required!! If you go to class and study his notes you will be fine. Best stats teacher! He advises students who failed the midterm to NOT drop the course. If you study his notes you will do absolutely fine!
lolll to the comment below!!! he is a good prof and very helpful...to funny!!.tests are note based...but I hate the fact that he made the MCQ>> 2 marks for each...hope he changes it in future!
He is a good prof and very helpful...too funny!!.tests are note based...but I hate the fact that he made the MCQ>> 2 marks for each...hope he changes it in future!
Professor Chan is one the best Prof at Ryerson! =)He teaches the concepts outstandingly and the quizzes and midterm exam tests are based off his own personal notes which I think are fantastic. Practice is key here! Keep practicing the problems and an A is guaranteed in this course.
PROF CHAN IS AWESOME. HE IS VERY HELPFUL. NEVER LOSE THE CHANCE OF HAVING HIS CLASS OTHERWISE YOU ARE GONNA REGRET LATER. JUST GOT MY MARK ..:D
if you go to class, pay attention and try at all, anyone can get an A in his class. he also makes gives out amazing notes that really help when it comes studying time
Best stats prof at Ryerson. Just come to class follow along with his handouts (better than the text) and you'll do fine. Make sure you go to class though cause you'll get lost really quickly if you miss a few lessons.
Jason is a good guy, makes some mean jokes sometimes. At the end of the day you either get his class or you dont. He doesn't teach you how to do things, he just does examples. If you can pick up from examples keep him, if you can't drop him. Personally, I really dreaded his class, didn't understand how he taught.
He's the best prof at ryerson. He takes the time to make his own personal notes, for the students, soo you really have to respect that. His notes are GOLD , if you can understand his notes, you should easily get a B+ or higher. I would take his class again for fun. I got a B- in QMS102 i had another prof, and with Jason I got a A in QMS202
His explanations are super clear. He makes sure that everyone understands the material by going over examples which are similar to quizzes/tests/final. Approachable and helpful. Attend every class and take notes and you will do really well. Likes to crack a joke every now and then )
Best of the Best. Go to class and get A.
I found Jason to be a very good prof for stats. Many first years complain about stats profs being incomprehensible but that was no the case. I also liked how he used his own unique notes, as well as full review packages with quizzes based on his own notes.
He made the quizzes/test easier compared with other stats Prof. However, many students still did poorly in his class.
Prof.Jason is awesome. This course itself is not hard but tricky if you dont know what you are doing.Prof.Jason take his time on preparing notes which are really excellant and appreciatable. He review the sample test before exam.He put efforts to explain the concept in easy & fun manners. You will learn stat and its use in busines world from him.
very helpful during his office hrs but kind of moody. His quizzes are easier and the exam was actually not so bad. You HAVE TO put it the effort cus its not an easy course. His notes r sooo helpful!! Like the textbook wasnt even necessary. Do good on the ehwk n quizzes cus theyr the easiest part in the course.
Amazing prof! I took this course during the day and had to drop it because I didn't understand statistics at all. Took this course through the chang school and it's amazing what a difference in a prof can do. He's very intelligent and teaches very well, go to class and you will be good!
Outstanding teacher. Explains concepts very well, and keeps class very engaged. As others have pointed out, he uses his own notes which is very helpful, and shows that he cares.
One of the worst professors I have ever encountered at Ryerson. If you have him for this course, please run, and run FAR.
Clear and concise. Goes through many examples. His test are hard cause he adds a few things that he didnt go over. Overall a good teacher but you might have to do some extra reading or problems if u want a super high mark. But just show up and take his notes and u should get a decent grade
GO TO CLASS and take his notes. The course starts off very basic but don't be fooled, it gets quite challenging later on. The tests are just like the examples he does in his lectures, which makes going to class even more imperative. An excellent prof to have if you want to get an A, but if you actually want to learn something...look elsewhere
i found his material really confusing and hard. Didn't really explain things well. His reviews are very long, but if you do those you should find it very helpful.
I would avoid him. When you ask for clarification and he often makes fun of you. I think he explains stuff during class room time though but still cracks jokes. Tests are a TON of trick questions which he does not properly prepare you for. He also doesn't let you take home quizzes or midterms which would of been helpful to see where you went wrong
He is simply the best professor in the statistics department!before I take this class I legit had ZERO interest in stats but now I'm considering taking calculus with him lol all you need is his notes and go through them THOROUGHLY!! your set for a very decent grade! :)
Jason is a pretty funny guy although his accent might be making him sound funnier than he actually is. Show up to class and take notes. Don't bother bringing or using the text book it will confuse you. Just use his notes and follow along while he does examples and you should be fine. His lectures can be boring if anything avoid his morning classes.
Prof. Chan is a very funny dude, but also a very good teacher and has a great sense of the course. Personal I think he is the best QMS prof. in ryerson. Just don't use your cellphone in class. he hates it
He is a great professor and every class was interesting. He was very funny and he goes through tons of examples in class to make sure students understand the material, print his notes, bring them to class and pay attention (also ask questions)... its an easy A :)
Very good professor. He is great at clarifying concepts and he will actually teach the concepts with a variety of examples ranging from easy to difficult. These examples are great to study from especially around midterm and exam time. We only use the textbook for review and practice. Just do the work he assigns and you'll do fine. All of our notes and examples are available to download from BB. So, to summarize, just attend every class and do the questions in the notes as he teaches the concepts
He's the best stats prof at ryerson in mi opinion . Everything he teaches is what he's testing you on no major surprises at all just show up to his class and listen you you are set. And don't talk in his class he hates that and will make a fool of you in front of everyone . Aside from that he's amazing gett himmmm :)
i like his personality but the exam today killed us! the exam came from another planet!
Amazing professor. His lectures are very clear and precise. A few words of caution: the course starts off easy but if you do not attend class, practice, or participate, you will be left behind and find the material difficult. Other than this, the course is very engaging and if you put in the effort and have a positive attitude, you'll do fine.
Jason creates good packages to study from. However, to ace the course, do the textbook Q. No proofs in this course, which makes it a lot easier. The long-answers on his test are the easy parts. The M/C theory is the hard part. Don't get overconfident if you got 100% in his quiz, the ppl who dropped the course were the ppl who did well in the quiz.
An outstanding professor, provides very clear examples throughout his personalized notes. The tests are based of these notes, no surprises whatsoever. I finished with an A+ in the course.
He is very reasonable with intro stats courses, (101 and 202), you can easily get an A with him for those, but for the higher level courses like qms 522, and 442, I strongly recommend you stay away. The highest mark for the first exam was a 76, and despite his low class averages, he refuses to bell curve. If you're looking to do grad school, AVOID!
Definitely prepares you well for the exam. Posts notes you print off before each class and during class shows how to do each question from the notes. Also one of the only profs that post practice tests/exams. I personally barely used the textbook and got an A- because of how helpful is lectures/notes/examples were. HIGHLY recommended.
BEST PROF EVER! He makes stats easy and understandable. If you go to class and do at least some of the textbook questions you'll be fine.
He is an amazing prof. even though his accent is a little bit hard to understand but you will get along with it after awhile. He assigns you to do the work from the textbook in which some of the midterm questions are based on that. and he is really nice! take advantages of his office hours
Funniest prof ever. If do the work and reviews he gives you, the tests and exams will be a piece of cake.
He's a really good prof! I loved stats because of him. He explained everything so well. His review packages and notes were BEYOND amazing!
The best prof I have had so far. He makes me feel like I want to minor in stats. Amazing!! Take his class.
One of the most caring profs at Ryerson. Loves his students and will help when needed. Recommended.
I had him as a supply teacher, he is amazing!! Accent is heavy but much more informative than our regular prof! I learned more today in one class than I have for the past 3.
Material taught is from the textbook but you must learn it "Jason's way". He seems very reliant on the notes provided and when asked questions, at times he struggles to answer. As the course neared its end, he was less clear in teaching the material. His expectations for the project is almost not known. Also very rude at times. Not recommended
The greatest Statistics professor in Ryerson University
Top Statistic professor in TRS
Amazing teacher! He was very clear and interesting to listen to. Probably the funniest professor I've had, as well. Print out notes he posts and show up and you will ace this course. Great professor :)
The Greatest Statistics. knowlegable, a lot o examples.
Best prof for QMS102. His lecture notes are great and just practice some of the textbook questions + his review package. You should be able to get an A/A- no problem!
SO FAR, SO GOOD. Alright Professor. Heavy Accent. Funny Guy. Do your homework and you should be fine.
Stay away from taking higher level qms courses with him. You will fail and his midterms are killers. Half of the class drops after the midterms.
All of his tests were straight of the questions in his notes, no surprises just different numbers. If you go over his notes and attend class you can definitely get an A or B. Loved him, so fah so good.
You should do fine if you attend class and do the practices he does in class and actually pay attention, very comprehensible. And the reviews he gives are awesome. It's harder to ace this if you don't do the questions or try to glide through it by the minimum. Overall, a great prof!
Amazing stats prof! If you show up and follow along with his handouts, it's a guaranteed A! He's incredibly funny and his tests are rehashed versions of his handouts! Also, if you follow his directions on how to use the calculator, you don't even need a crib sheet. I finished the exam in 35 minutes and never used my crib sheet. Show up and pass.
Though his accent is a little much for some people, he is nice and willing to help people on-on-one.
He is an amazing prof! tough to understand in the beginning but you will definitely get used to it. He prepares packages and practice questions for each chapter and explains each and every question thoroughly! tests are all MC. Do all his practice questions and you're good to go. He gives hints which Q's to concentrate on as well.
Amazing prof!! Hes in it for the students, highly recommend him
This teacher uses great teaching strategies. I had him at George Brown College for statistics which is a difficult course. He makes his own practise packages which he goes through in class. He brings humour into the classroom which makes learning content less tense. He is difficult to understand at first because his accent is thick
If you need help, he is best one-on-one. The textbook is kinda useless because his lecture notes are the bomb! Do his review packages and you shall do fairly well in his class.
Just attend class and print out his notes and you will be successful. He tends to troll people. Don't talk in his class or he will single you out. Great prof!!!
Jason Chan is legitimately the best prof I have had so far. His notes are a blessing - the textbook was absolutely useless. Did not even use it once. He's extremely helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions. He tries his best to make everyone understand the topics although it make come off as confusing. Definitely want him again as a prof!
Great concept of making packages for students to complete throughout the lecture, awful times and dates for a test. 630 on a friday night. good luck if you are on a varsity sports team taking this class. Does not take great liking to athletes. Overall a good teacher though, explains topics fairly well even if you have questions.
Jason is amazing, best math teacher I've ever had. He takes time & effort to provide students with lots of practice questions and review. He creates chapter packages to help us with every chapter. Get ready for his signature question, "So far so good?" He does not put up with any sillydisruptive people; I truly appreciate his classes.
He put a lot of effort into making packages and practice questions, reviews, etc. He is hilarious. He kind of yells, which adds to why he's fun. Jason is sort of strict, which I love bc I have trouble focusing if ppl goof around. I loved his class and somehow even looked forward to them! Great & caring prof.
Jason Chin-Tiong Chan is honestly one of the best professors you can get! He makes notes for you, and that's how he lectures. His notes are extremely clear. He is not afraid to call you out if you talk in his class or use your cell phone however. Take his class if you actually want to learn, because he's a great prof. Tests are relatively easy.
He talks too fast and his accent does not help. By the end of the semester we were two chapters ahead of the morning classes. He sneaks a "so far so good?" while looking away and when you ask your question he replies extremely loud. either deaf or really irritated by people asking him questions. I taught myself in his class, useless prof!
The greatest statistics professor.
He is the best professor in ryerson U. Attend all his classes n u will get A. Will take cqms 202 with him in Winter . I am sure he will help me to get another A.
The super greatest professor in Ryer son. Go for him if u want to learn math. Professor Jason explained concept super clear.
Respect for students yet still professional Tons of character - very enjoyable... even though it was a stats class!
Jason is a great professor, however when he assigns homework make sure to do it if your going to class or you will end up on his bad side and he will learn your name and call you from the rest of the semester. Assigns lecture notes to be printed which makes it a lot easier
Jason provides you with notes for each lecture all you are required to do is fill them out during the class. Make sure you do the tutorial questions assigned because he checks every single class. As long as you go to class and fill out your notes you should be able to pass this course with no problem at all. Overall awesome prof.
Awesome prof, provides you with notes for each class. Make sure you do his tutorial questions. He makes the tests we have during the semester hard but always makes the final super easy. Has a bit of an accent so at times it might be confusing to understand what he is saying. Overall great professor for stats.
Oh man. He is the best take him. I got a A in his class. You wont find a better prof.
He's nice if you genuinely want to do well. HATES when people talk, so shut up - he'll call you out and be extra about it. Always asks if students have any questions and recommends math tutoring sessions, etc. Tests are fairly hard, but everything is in the notes/packages provided. Just get the notes, study and ask for help when needed
The Greatest Math Professor in Ryerson University....
Jason is the cutest, best stats professor. His lecture is run more like an interactive class and he gives great handouts and booklets that we work on together to understand the material. He makes lots of jokes which keeps things fun. Tests and quizzes are pretty straight forward. He tells you what to expect and prepares you well. Must study
Honestly a great professor. His lecture notes are super useful and clear. Attend each class and you'll be okay. Highly recommend.
As long as you do the work, you will be fine in his class.
He makes packages which are very helpful for learning and testing! Tests are fair and simple if you study and look over the packages!! Make sure to do the tutorial questions though, he gets upset if the class doesn't do them (plus they're helpful as well).
Really good stats prof! Im terrible at math but the way he explains the concepts is really helpful. Points out students who cause disruption, but is extremely knowledgeable. His course slides are worksheets that he teaches you along the lecture. Just do his practices and youll be fine
Great prof! Weekly lecture notes are provided with tons of examples, as well as at least one review class before each midterm/final, and lot's of review packages. Can be harsh to students in class but genuinely wants everyone to do well. He doesn't use the textbook much but is extremely useful if you find the material unclear.
He's a good prof, whatever is taught in class is on test
The teacher is helpful in resources but when it comes to confronting him, don't even bother. He has a strong accent and is very strict.
Phenomenal Professor! On the first few weeks, he tries to scare everyone. Trust me when I tell you that he cares immensely about students and their success. Put in the work, do the online homework as well as the tutorial questions and you will excel. He is amazing at explaining topics for the course and does an amazing job at keeping you engaged.
He is a good professor however he was a little bit disorganized. The study-support material was the best part, the 2nd being his teaching style. He has a small, but good enough sense of humor. He is however, a little bit strict but he shows a lot of care for his student's success.
He may come off as extremely strict, but this guy knows his stuff. His tests are pretty tough but they're standardized anyways. If you choose not to go to his class, you'll find this course very difficult. He's also hilarious but can be rude at times. He's probably one of the best Stats profs at Ryerson. If you go to his class, you'll you great.
unpleasent to attend lectures. Strict and abnoxious, but course was easy
The best statistics prof in ryerson university
He can explain concept very well. Expect student to do homework questions. Do not talk in class
its lit
Go to class, listen, do your homework, rinse and repeat, and you should be fine. And if you don't do your homework, don't bother going to class, and if the cycle continues, you probably won't pass. Please, just do yourself a favour and do the hmwk. That's all.
He is an amazing professor, he goes through a lot of practice questions in class to help you get a better understanding, you need to attend class, if not, you're screwed. I highly recommenced anyone who struggles in math to take his class, I promise you, you will do just fine.
He is one of the best profs you'll have for a beginner stats class. His notes are a real blessing. Midterm/final questions stem from his notes and example problems. Learn how to use the stats calculator well and you will not get less than a B. Also, practice applying the concepts by doing the textbook problems. Do these things and you'll get an A.
Really good prof, he may scare you a bit at the start but it gets better. A fun ride just pay attention and dont talk. he will crack jokes every now and then so its lit. also the course material itself isnt too hard so there that. accent may come in the way but youll understand him 95% of the time so its lit. also will help u outside of class lit
never available to meet, very lazy, always finishes class early.
Ho: Jason is a good professor, Ha: Jason is a bad professor. P is less than alpha, therefore reject ho.
Ho: Jason is a good professor, Ha: Jason is a bad professor. P is less than alpha, therefore reject ho.
Always print out lecture notes before attending class. He goes a little fast, but write down everything. The textbook is not needed, he gives you more than enough practice questions. Do the review packages and homework questions because the midterm and final were very similar to them.
Professor Jason is the best QMS102 prof, is ryerson university. Lot of practical example. Turn Statistics to daily tool. Best of the best.
Exam was a bit tricky but the two tests that you have before are very fair because Jason tells you exactly which chapters/questions to focus on for each test. It is not impossible to do well in this course if you come prepared with the lecture notes and do additional questions at home. Jason comes off a little harsh but not a bad prof at all.
Do your homework or go to shopping mall
Old fashioned. Prefers you print notes out, phones away etc. Doesn't like side conversations. Good professor, does examples/problems in class and is good for questions in class. Good sense of humour, tough but fair.
Jason is a good prof, go to his classes and you'll do fine. Make sure to study off of the lecture print-outs. This class is basically a review of high school calculus. BEWARE: don't come to class late, leave class early, go on your phone or talk in class - he will stare at you for 5 minutes straight, it's uncomfortable.
Jason Chan have a great teaching method. Although he doesn't really explain the topic since he teaches by giving lots of examples and practice questions, it helps students to learn much easily. You get the marks that you work for. Don't buy the book, he has his own practice questions, just buy the code.
GO TO CLASS! Does every example in class and makes you understand such a hard course as QMS 102. I was really happy with the way he taught, and u get use to his accent fast.
Best prof I've ever had. Do all practice questions, attend class and print out lecture notes and you will not get lower than a B. He does love trick questions, but he makes you aware of the tricks before hand. And make sure you complete all the modules to help boost your grade. Best prof, please take him! you will not be disappointed.
He really prepares you for the final, trust me go to class, do the practice questions, and know the calculator. If you can do all 3 you will not go lower than a B, the quizzes and online homework can be tricky and difficult but the midterm and final is very straight forward. I went up from a 78 to 85 just from the final.
Easy A. Do not skip any class. Best Statistics prof in Ryerson University. # things u have to do to obtain A 1. go to class 2. Practice review questions 3. Ask questions in class. Best of the best.
Turn Calculus into BUSINESS WORLD. Very fun in learning calculus with this professor. I wish he would be my QMS230 prof.
Super Easy course. Easy A if u did not miss any class n practice all review questions. I will take QMS202 with him. Lot of fun, jokes. He is the best prof in Ryerson university.
A minimum B+ in QMS102 can be obtained if you do it with this prof. Tips - 3 things u have to follow 1. Put away your cell phone. He will be very mad if u use cell phone in class 2. Attend all classes. 3. Practice all review questions.
The greatest statistics professor . I had dropped this course for many times. Finally Professor Chan helped me to pass this course with A-. He is the GOD of statistics. Will do QMS202 with him.
1. Go to class 2. no cell phone 3. Do all review questions. FINAL RESULT : minimum A-
Never liked math in high school, but this guy made me love calculus. This guys relates everything to business and economics and mixes it up with his humuor, really helped me understand the concepts. Really nice guy, he'll repeat anything 1000 times for you. Know how to do his review packages inside out and you'll get A minimum in the course.
The super best statistics professor in Ryerson university. Minimum A- if u attended all classes, did all review questions. NO CELLPHONE....
Clear explanation... He made u to learn something
First choice for QMS course Professor Chan is the best statistics professor in Ryerson U, Go for him if u want to learn statistics. Outstanding teaching method.....
Funniest guy ever. His jokes are on the spot but make sure he doesn't see you leave class or do anything he takes as being disrespectful because he will roast you. but he is by far an amazing prof and one who has very strong personal values. He absolutely cares for students who put forth the effort.
Very caring statistic professor in ryerson University. He is the best statistics professor. Thinking of doing QMS202 with him but I heard he is leaving us soon. A loss for Ryerson University business students.
Jason is a very caring professor. He always wants ALL his students excel in their studies. I couldn't find any prof is better than him.
Hes really nice and funny but he can be hard to understand sometimes. I suggest getting the textbook and using it to learn the core materials because you might not always understand what hes talking about. Regardless, the tests are super fair and the review and example are he gives are really good too.
Jason, we all will miss youYOU are the BEST statistics professor in Ryerson. We will wait for you to return to Ryerson to teach us QMS202.
Professor Chan, thanks for teaching us using your heart. We will really miss u.......... You are always care about our progress. Hope u will return to Ryerson very soon to teach us QMS202. Thanks fro teaching us QMS102.
Jason is very passionate about teaching He is able to explain concepts clearly, Jason has the best teaching methods Jason is the best statistics professor in business school.
Jason's an amazing prof! He is very caring and knows his stuff! His way of teaching statistics is in my opinion way better than they other profs he takes his time to go through example questions with you and explains all the concepts you need to know. He's the only prof that gave review questions before tests! oh and he's hilarious!
BEST STATS PROF EVER! Ensures everyone understands the material and goes through each example in detail. Also gives review to ensure you are ready for the tests. Hilarious and cheerful personality that will help you get through the 3 hour lecture. One of my most favourite profs at Ryerson so far. Helps a lot outside of class. Will miss him in 202
Jason cares a lot for his students, and always wants to make sure that they understand the material. He will happily answer any questions that one may have, and is so funny in class. Doing his packages were so much more helpful than the textbook when it came to the tests. He's an amazing prof overall. Come back soon Jason!
Best stats prof ever! He cares about his students and uses all his knowledge to help you succeed. He is HALERIOUS during lectures which is great since they are 3 hours long and would be boring otherwise. Marks are handed back promptly and course material is given out promptly as well!
Jason is the stats GOD, he cares about students and puts a ton of effort into making the class interesting, he makes sure you learn the material and helps students with the material. He has his own approach to the course follow his method and you will succeed, is very connected with students, offers practice questions, and tutorials for tests
Jason is amazing. If you show up to every class, which he makes very enjoyable because he is funny and you learn a lot, then you must get at least an A. It is impossible to do bad because Jason prepares you so well. I took this class and dropped it so many times, passed with an A- with Jason because I attended every class and reviewed the questions
Best prof ever. His teaching style is really good and he also cares his students a lot.
real cool guy
Hands down the best prof for business statistics ever. I wish he taught QMS202 more often tho, he mainly teaches QMS102.
Chan man is a beast in stats. Goes through every example in chapter handouts and provide additional review to prepare you for tests. If you can do the tutorial questions and review you're ready for the tests/final. No cellphones/laptops in class or he'll stare at you for 10mins! He's hilarious and makes a hard course easy to learn. Finished with A-
Great prof! Goes through all examples, provides practice questions, and if you can do every question he assigns and understand how answers are derived, you'll do great! He also cracks jokes which always makes a 3 hour lecture a little more bearable. Note though, you MUST attend lectures if you want to do well, he explains everything you need.
Take him for QMS! He's hilarious! But he's also an amazing prof! Go to class, as he goes through examples step-by-step. You don't need the textbook as he has concise notes with practice questions to print out. Come back soon! We'll miss you for QMS202! If only my handwriting was as beautiful as my face, therell be no problem. - Prof. Jason Chan
Jason Chan is an amazing professor. I believe he was the best QMS102 profressor during the semester. I think he is the only prof that provides his students with his own packages that contain notes and examples that he teaches through. YOU NEED TO GO TO CLASS, otherwise you will fall behind. Exam and tests were very easy because he prepares you well
Jason is a great prof and really prepares you for the midterm and final. He goes over different types of questions in lecture and explains each one, so GO TO CLASS!! Usually ends lectures early, but does sometimes cover a lot in one class. Would take any stats course with him, because he's very knowledgeable and good at explaining!
One of the only profs that want to see you succeed.
Read no further, TAKE THIS PROF FOR QMS102. He is absolutely wonderful, really passionate about this course and caring of his students. HILARIOUS, makes a 3 hour stats class bearable and even enjoyable! He uses real world problems to explain concepts better.I came into this class having never done stats and I finished with an A-
He actually gives you a package to print off, which covers everything. Never used textbook, hes easy going and allows cheat sheets
The greatest of all time. Gives thorough and detailed lectures, keeps class engaged, and has a great sense of humour. Provides students with packages for each lecture that make it very easy to understand the course concepts. The course consists of 3 tests, online homework, and a final exam.
THIS MAN IS A LEGEND. Best prof hands down. Do your homework and attend class and you'll be fine (otherwise you'll be roasted by him until you're an empty husk). He does lots of examples in class and genuinely cares about students so don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't get stuff the first time. Also English is his 5th language ;)
I LOVE JASON CHAN ! he's really funny and woke me up in the morning when i had to go in for 8am class but was still worth the commute. Always print all slides before coming to class and modules were basically a free 10%
At first, this prof might seem a bit intimidating, but do not let that fool you. Chan Man is the best! He TRULY cares about his students and wants them to do well. Make sure you attend every class and that you do the assigned homework prior to each class. He gives out sample test questions, which are very helpful!
Probably one of the best tecahers out there, I have so much love for him that i do not hesitate to go to class, my fav asain tecaher
This is the best professor I have ever had!! He's so amazing and really good at teaching. He cares about is students so much. He will spend time outside of class to go over the material. He is really strict about cell phone and laptop use so don't use it during class, only during breaks. He is hilarious and prepares you for tests very well!
Very engaging class. Would definitely recommend to first year students.
So I had him in first year, he is the best prof. You dont understand how much I wished i had him for 202. He explains the concept for a few mins and then applies it right afterwards with tons of practice questions. Although it can get repetitive, you'll appreciate it on test. Also he is the only prof that post practice questions before a test. ily
I had him for QMS102 and he is literally the BEST stats prof ever! He doesn't waste anytime explaining concepts that won't show up on tests. He also provides his own handouts which are completely helpful to prepare for the tests. He goes over various practice questions in class to make sure everyone understands. Wish I had him for QMS202!!
He focuses on material that you need for tests only, and doesn't waste time on other topics. He teaches a concept and applies it using practice problems directly after, ensuring you remember what you have learned. He posts practice questions before tests that are harder than the test questions, which prepares you for tests in the best way. TAKE HIM
Hes has so much knowledge on the topic of stats and he helps all of his students succeed, all hilariously funny.
Very knowledgeable prof, after having him first semester I realize he is one of the only good stats prof 10/10 would recommend
You do not understand how much I wish I had him in QMS202
Jason is THE best stats prof you could ever have!
I had never missed any of this prof class. I enjoyed his class as much as l enjoyed my last summer vacation. He is the greatest motivator. Make u love statistics.
A true LEGEND
The most caring stat prof . TAKE Him. He posts review questions that are harder than the test questions. The best way prepare u for test n exam.
Very engaging class . Take him.
Would definitely recommend to the first year students. After attending his class, you will definitely thinking of changing your major to statistics. The best statistic prof is ryerson university.
This man is a LEGEND. HE is the BEST GIFT given by GOD to TRSM students. Take him if you want to learn statistics. He is the best statistics professor is Canada.
AMAZING! Literally one of my favourite profs and definitely the best stats prof I've had so far (including Clare Chow). His lectures are incredibly useful and helpful. He answers questions and does his best to explain. Makes you laugh. I can't rave about this man enough. He made me love going to class everyday. He is truly a great professor.
Don't take. The worst one in Ryerson.
This professor went extra miles to help students. The best choice for QMS courses.
I took QMS102 2 years ago with this professor. No one can replace him in teaching QMS courses. I am looking to do QMS202 with him. The best QMS professor in Ryerson.
He is the best Statistics professor in Ryerson. I took QMS102 with him in Fall2017. I did not see him after that semester. Hoping he will be back soon and looking to be in his class in QMS202. Hilarious in teaching. It is a loss for Ryerson if he is not coming back.......
Professor Jason Chan - A true legend .......
Professor Jason Chan is the BEST statistics professor in Ryerson university. I took qms 102 with him in Fall 217. All of his sections were full. He left after that semester. Thousands of students wish to have him in QMS202.
Was the best stats prof at Rye wish he was back only got 2 questions wrong the whole year because of him.
Jason is the most caring professor in Ryerson. His teaching is the best in Ryerson. U are super lucky if you are able to be his student.
This professor makes you GREAT forever. He is the best math professor in Ryerson. He has a very practical teaching methods.
The only Professor will make u Great forever Very energetic, Caring ; fun...
Make you feel GREAT forever ...... The best motivator in Ryerson. Make you wanted to go to class every Monday morning at 8:00 A.M. Math is fun :)
This professor is great at explaining concepts. Engage students every minute.
jason is absolutely the best QMS 102 prof... period. His lectures are the full 3 hours but it passes by well. he explains the concepts very well. I never used the textbook, I solely depended on his notes and slides. the midterms and final exam comes from questions that are given on the review so if you do them abut 2-3 times you will be prepared!
An absolute legend
The best QMS professor in ryerson. Hope he will be back to teach us QMS210. Great teaching method.
The true legend. Engage students for 3 hours.
Professor Chan's lectures are full 3 hours but times pass very well. He explains the concept extremely well.
The true legend
The best quantitative methods professor in guelph- humber. His lectures from 9 to 11:35 but the time pass by well. A lot of practical business examples by using Maths. Stock market, property market , investment strategy, business decisions strategy. He is very knowledgeable in both math and business :)
Professor Jason came to York and made my life gud.
Stay focused in his class
Absolutely terrible he reads slides in class and doesn't solve any problems. Very unhelpful. His assignments don't match his midterms. No way to study for this course. I tried solving past midterms and somehow passed. His exam is hard compared to what he teaches.
He is a bit hard to understand but his lectures are great and entertaining. It is a hard course but it's doable to get an A if you spend time on it.
He's a nice person but the way he grades is terrible. Your answer can be correct but won't get full marks and always insists that his way is the only way to do things even if you provide a textbook answer. Reads off the slides and used another professor's notes 75% of the time while barely explaining the process. Take someone else instead.
Horrible. Assignments don't align with midterms, and neither do the 50 question sets he posts for "practice". He will have 3 to 4 sets of question sets be the same thing but writes exam questions with complexities He barely goes through. Doesn't make sense when all he does is present a topic on his slide instead of trying to teach concepts.
No lecture slides Cannot take pictures in class Cannot leave the lecture midway 3hr lecture that too from 7pm to 10 He is the definition of a professor who lives in the 80s and wants you to suffer , no flexibility in the course whatsoever . Too strict. While leaving the class, he literally stares the hell out of ppl.
While the professor's teaching style can be challenging, using Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook and attending study sessions can help manage the course workload. With effort, it's possible to excel.
York students beware: Ratings from his previous university don't well represent him as a math teacher here. Pros: Test questions are very similar to practice questions. Cons: Lectures are hard to understand, Notes/slides are over-complicated (you're better off with youtube), Doesn't follow a textbook, 90% of grades are from tests/exams
No lecture slides provided. No photos allowed during class. You can't leave midway through the 3-hour lecture (yes, it runs from 7 PM to 10 PM). The professor is the textbook definition of someone stuck in the 80s — no flexibility at all. Extremely strict. If you try to leave early, be prepared for a soul-piercing stare on your way out.
I've had this professor for four semesters. He stares at PowerPoint, reads word for word in a flat voice, and ignores students raising hands. Yet he deducts marks from students for not engaging or making eye contact something he never does himself. He is the definition of a PowerPoint professor.
Midterm questions were not similar at all to the practice questions/weekly questions he gave at all. Expect them to be much more difficult. 7 questions for a test, if you get any wrong the damage is huge. Every person I have spoken to so far has failed the test. what a complete joke of a professor.
Prof has a teaching style that seems to only focus on the application of the content but fails to actually cover the concepts themselves in a way that prepares you for any of the examination content. Final exam contained few questions that were similar, but a majority of what was tested was applying the concepts in ways we hadn't practiced before.
FYI The school hes named under is TMU but he is actually at York now, not sure why it says that. Practice questions and exam questions are not similar, lectures are difficult to understand because he goes through problems without explaining why he's doing what he does, slides are very brief and skip a lot of information
