good for nothing... just rewrites the textbook, very boring and sometimes can be rude (when he didn't get his cigarette).
I think that Dr.Cross is a really good teacher. All of his quizes and midterms were straightforward and not tricky.
Dr. Cross is a good teacher. He is very nice. and he is kinda cute too!
Just gotta say first - hes tooootally hot. Makes going to lecture so enjoyable. Best organic chem teacher EVER at temple. I hate this class with a passion and I took it 3x but out of all the profs I had hes the only one that made me actually understand the material well enough to learn it. Hes your best chance to pass this course I promise you.
This man can actually TEACH. His tests and quizzes are not too bad, just do homework problems and GO TO LECTURE. He is also very helpful.
he's a great professor and he knows his material. if you want to pass organic, he's the professor to take.
Hot, cute, mean, will pass but with the bad grade. Best of the worst (our orgo chem department does not have good professors).
don't take his course you will fail
Organic is one of the HARDEST classes, but Dr Cross is a very good teacher..compared to the other professors, he is the easiest! You still have to work extremely hard & do all the exercise problems, but as far as all the other professors at Temple..Cross is the best choice. His quizes and tests are practically out of the book, if not very similar!
he is very helpful, cute, and fair. tests are fair. u still have to study...but what do u expect, it's organic chemistry!
worst teacher, can't teach. no point of going to lecture since he rewrite exactly what the book has without any explaination. doesn't grade fairly. One of the WORST teacher
If you have an option to take this prof. You should def. take this guy. He will go out of his way to help you to understand the subject since it is impossible. I failed (dont take Pzreslawski) and then retook it with Cross and got a B-. He is very understanding and is a GREAT org. chem prof. TAKE HIM
No Comments
i went to him for help durring his office hours,i even scheduled appointments, he made me feel like just another element on the periodoc table. don't take him. drop this class before its too late.
If you need to take organic chem. take him, he's a great prof, plus he's unbelievably hot, so he's great to look at!
idk wat ppl w/neg. comments are talkin abt... this guy makes OChem. seem like cake-walk... im NOT the smartest person in the world but he def. made is easy he knows his material and he knows how to teach... I GUARANTEE YOU if u take him over other teachers u will pass with a better grade.. his tests and quizes are RIGHT OUT OF THE HOMEWORK problems
good and fair professor
boring and sloww, makes the slides right out of the book. no special efforts to explain something. leaves it upto the TAs. loves to pretend he is nice and fair but he is not fair at all!
Finally i had a teacher who can teach. organic chemistry is not an easy to teach for teachers and its not easy for students to understand but he makes it seem logical! my advice: go to his lectures EVERYTIME coz even if u dont read ur chapters on day to day basis his lectures will def help u in the long run. and use his looks as a motivation to go!
By far the best Chem. teacher ever..his tests are a cakewalk as long as u do the HW..and yea he goes slower than other teachers..but why is that a bad thing in OChem? He wants u to understand the material and do well in his class.. u do ur work and put in the time..its very easy to get an A in his class...
I had him for Ochem 121&122 n hes a great teacher.Orgo is NOT easy!but Cross goes slow enough and trys to make sure everyone understands.DO THE HOMEWORK, may seem like alot, but will help you in the long run.Go to lecture, he knows who is there every day.Go to his office hours n ask questions, this will show him that u r trying-he'll be easier on u
He knows how to teach Organic.. makes u want to learn and he explains things good and as long as u pay attention in lecture u should know wat to expect on the test.. goes slower than the other teacher so its not as difficult to keep up..his tests are not hard as long as u do ALL of the HW problems..
Dr. Cross is the best science prof. I have ever seen at Temple University. Organic Chemistry is hard no matter who you have. However he will do anything to help you do well and he makes sure you understand the material, you still need to work hard though.
AWESOME prof. Organic chem is hard as it is but he does a great job of breaking the material down so you understand the concepts. Offered extra credit and bonus questions for a chance to get more points too. You need to work your butt off but if he sees this he will make sure you do well. Sense of humor and sooo hott too!
:P...bad...U guys dont know what you are talking about, one of the meanest and worse professors in Temple.
He is good teacher, inspires other people to study chemistry. Make organic chem alot easier to understand, quiz and tests are fair, you will hit the avg no matter what (if you study good), if you can't pass his course may be you should change the major.
He is the best organic professor, brilliant and makes the subject interesting. Only take him
don't talk to him or go to his office, you'll go out of there feeling miserable. cigarettes is his fuel and w/o them he's the most evil person in the world. Harsh grader and difficult exam.
great teacher. go to class every day. His exams are full of mechanisms. He loves curly arrows. he would go over them in class. so it is not so bad during exams. he is helpful if you like to do something in chem. in that he will point you in right direction. Plus he got this amazingg british accent and handsome.
I don't know where people got the the idea that he is the best teacher you will ever have for organic. he gets very confused while teaching, he has hard time focusing in class, not such a fair grader. his tests are hard, merely reading the textbook and doing the homework problems isn't going to earn you an A, you might with some other teacher.
Cross is a nice professor, he literally knocks the e- transfer foundation, which is fundamental to appreciate orgo and biochem, into ur brain!! His tests and quizzes are difficult but if you understand the materials, you will be good for his class. If u only want to memorize every orgo mechanisms that will just blow ur brain out from ur scalp!!=)
Goes really slowly and wastes lots of time, then runs out of time and crams in chapters right before exam. But he is not hard. If you attend lecture and listen carefully he tells you exactly what will be on the exams.
He's a good professor in comparison to the rest of the organic teachers in the department, but he's not a fantastic professor nor is he the nicest one you'll find. Cross is really grumpy a lot of the time so if you approach him for help, watch what mood he's in.
Dr. Cross was extremely helpful during this semester. He is ALWAYS available for extra help and wants to see his students to well. Our class average was a B. He is dedicated to helping YOU so get to know him! He is not an easy grader but does give lots of partial credit. Study your ass off, go for help (even if you know it) and you'll do well.
Dr.Cross is very lazy and uses pages from the textbook as powerpoint slides. His exams are long and sometimes tricky. Put in a lot of work and you can earn an A, but if possible avoid him.
Most helpful person ever and all the girls love him!!!!

Dr Cross is the best orgo teacher Temple University Has. He cares about his students and takes the time personally to help everyone understand. He is helpful especially after class during office hours, a great teacher and I only wish I had him for all my chemistry classes. If you want to pass orgo with a great grade he is the one to take.
i'm gonna say the direct facts here. dr. cross is very helpful i must admit but he does have hard exams, does not curve, is helpful in office hours, gives bonus points on exams but grades them strictly because they are bonus. really do the pract tests b/c they look just like his real exams.buss ur but studyig and u should make it, B here, A- orgo 1
The best organic chemistry teacher. Im going to be honest, he's hard and his test are hard. But he's one of the best teacher's I have ever had. Got a A- in orgo 1 with a curve, and A in orgo 2 without a curve. He was harder but a better teacher. I might actually remember what he taught. If you dont know the answer, guess resonance lol
made sense when that useless textbook made absolutely no sense. very helpful and honest. tests are challenging, as they should be. i struggled but with a good study group you can do well. he also made everyone laugh even when we felt like crying!
His powerpoint are straight from the textbook so just read ur textbook. the only good thing about him is that he does really good examples..besides tat he is ok.
dr.cross is extremely helpful and a decent teacher..i wouldnt say his tests are all that easy..come prepared to class and READ THE TEXTBOOK!! ppl say that he doesnt curve..but honestly you will be fine...just keep on going to him for help and he'll know you are trying and he will definately be there to help you..
Organic is a difficult subject but Cross is very clear with explanations make makes it quite understandable. I think he is the best professor at temple.
He's a good guy and wants people do well. The British accent makes switching to another prof for orgo 2 weird. He'll def help if you're struggling though, and explains things very thoroughly. He loves examples and does about a dozen per class. Good guy, I'm taking him for orgo 2 next...
Prof. Cross is a great teacher and I recommend him over any other Orgo Profs. He is very fair and will spend time discussing any problems that you have with classwork or with a specific recitation instructor. Thanks Dr. Cross!
Don't be deceived,STAY AWAY from this guy. He is proud to think that he is the best but he is really not! Other profs do an equally or better job.Stay away. He is not transparent with grading. He witholds partial credit from you especially when you need it.
great teacher. great accent. great looks too
extremely attractive and intelligent. hes always available in his office to help
Cross is a great guy, and he really does care that his students do well, and will help you whatever way he can. He's more than willing to help and is available in his office for hours after lecture. His tests are no picnic, and revolve heavily around curly arrow mechanisms and synthesis of organic compounds. KNOW your reagents and their effects!
The most evil teacher I had ever had in my college career. Stay away. Inconsiderate person.
Inconsiderate: does not give partial credit, yet when he went to college, he received partial credit. You can get zero for answering most parts of a question right.I would not take him. Stay away.
smokin fox.. HOWEVER, he isnt the most lenient on his tests and quizzes. his tests are quite easy but he doesnt hand out partial credit like andrade or flemming do.. hes just about the best orgo teacher on the planet though
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. He's rude, arrogant, and very unhelpful. If you ever try to go into his office for help, he tends to talk down to you and make you feel like dirt. Not to mention the fact that he likes to make his tests hard just for the sake of being hard, and Orgo is rough enough as it is. Avoid him like the plague!!!!!!
If you come to his office to ask him stupid questions that you would know if you attended class and did the homework, then he will DEF talk down to you. If you preach about how you want to get into med school but youre bombing his orgo class and you have 3.0 gpa then he'll def talk down to you too. If youre legit, then he'll be your best friend.
Ignore the negative comments b/c Cross is an awesome professor. I came into this class thinking that I was going to fail b/c I had heard so many stories. I ended up getting an A! I often went to his office and he helped me tremendously. His exams are rather difficult but if you read the book and pay close attention during lecture, you'll be fine!
Great professor. Enough said. You'll understand when you have him.
Not a good grader! The fact is: your grade will remain part of your record forever, but a teacher may be part of you for only 3-4months in a semester. No one in professional schools cares about who taught you. All they see is your grade/transcript without the teacher. You could easily FAIL with Cross. There are good graders/teachers apart from Cross.
The way he grades, I'll admit, is very harsh. However, he is very good at teaching the material! He's not the best but he's definitely a good professor. Don't be too discouraged by the thought of taking organic chemistry. Just don't be stupid by coming to his office hours asking questions about something you should've known weeks before.
i dunno but I think the latest negative reviews were sent in by the same person, so don't let them give you any preconceived notions about him. of course there will be some people who'll complain about him! i on the otherhand thought he was just okay. orgo is a tough subject but i was able to get a B+ with no problem.
Not only did I like his class, I liked the way he looked! He's pretty good looking! Anyway, he taught the stuff pretty well but you definitely want to read the book so you won't get completely lost. Exams were a little bit on the difficult side and he did grade harshly but the curve helped.
Eh, I took him because everyone said he was great. I didn't think so. Like many have said, he DOES NOT give partial credit and that ruined me. I'm sure if I had a professor that did give partial credit, I'd have an A. Cross is okay but make sure you know your stuff!
i think that hes a pretty good professor. i took orgo 1 during summer I and thought it wasnt too hard. he taught the stuff pretty well and everything on the exams were pretty straight forward. im a pretty sucky student (got a C+ in gen chem)but i ended up with an A in his class. Just pay attention. He sucks with partial credits though.
Dr. Cross is the best teacher ever.....I loved going to his lecture...He is very helpful and very hot too.
Ohh he is the best teacher ever! but if you go to office hours, he seems kinda lazy butIn class, he is just awesome. And about his grading, Dont listen to these liers.am sure He gives partial credit. Even if he doesnt give partial credit, he gives out lot of extra creditpoints! for everySingle exam.He plays songs before class too. ;) hesgreat!
Okay, well there have been mixed reviews but I personally believe that Cross is definitely not the best orgo professor! He's not the nicest person and his teaching is just okay. Take Fleming instead.
I had Fleming for orgo 1 and when I took Cross for orgo 2, I was very disappointed. Sigh.
Do not let Dr.Cross 'CROSS' your way! There are better and considerate teachers out there than him.I have had other Orgo teachers in this dept. so far, so I know what I am saying. He does not know what 'partial credit' and 'extra credit' mean, yet he got them when he was a student.I might cross his way too in the future. Simply stay away from him.
Yeah, he's hot but that's where the good ends. I honestly don't like the way he teaches and although I did well on the first midterm, it was only because I studied forever. I'm definitely not taking him for orgo 2.
He is an O.K. person. If you have questions then he will help out at his office. Don't expect spoon feeding knowledge. If you have plans to be a doctor or whatever then you can't expect to be fed knowledge all the time- learn yourself and if you have questions then go see Prof Cross.
i think that the people that are complaining are use to being spoonfed answers. his teaching is pretty good. if u pay attention and read the text book u will get a good grade. These ppl are not putting in the effort to understand the material so they complain. they deserve to fail.
You can still fail even though you studied hard enough, attended all classes, and did all that good students do, yet still Fail Cross' class. There were students who scored A's on his tests, yet he gave them C's and B's instead, just because he felt'they did not deserve an 'A''.A very judgmental grader and person, jealous and oppressive. STAY AWAY!!
This class in itself is very hard. Dr. cross is one of the best teachers in this subject. you still need to work hard no matter what orgo teacher you get. He gives you extra credit which is a plus. Make sure you read over everything and do the HW
I think Dr. Cross is a great professor who knows the subject well. He is also very fair in that he gives hints, extra credit, and is mad cool. Sure the subject is difficult but it's our job to do what we have to in order to pass. His exams are challenging but not impossible. I'd say get to know the textbook and just use lecture for reinforcement.
1021 was new to him, and it showed. He had no idea how to pace the class, and often either dragged it out or sped up way too fast. The midterms are absolutely impossible and half-credit is not in his vocabulary. Near the end of the semester, keep your distance, he gets very cranky. Does say funny things in his heavy British accent though.
SO HOT! and hes funny! hes a really good teacher. Obviously its a really hard subject so you should go all of the time. But hes awesome! Prob best orgo teacher you'll find
Cross isn't that bad, pretty easy actually. if you have to take orgo, I recommend taking him. He provides practice exams before the tests and the tests are just like the back exams. He also gives extra credit. He basically teaches based on what he will test you on, so if you take him for orgo 1, def. take him for orgo 2.
I had Cross for Orgo 2. He is a pretty fair professor. But he does not prepare you well for the ACS exam, which you will take at the end of Orgo2. His exams are pretty fair if you work insanely hard, but usually he uses the same questions for his quizzes and exams from his back exams. If you keep doing problems from the back exams then you should g
I had him for Orgo 1 and 2 and he's an excellent professor. Tests are fair and grade you get is the one you deserve. He explains concepts clearly and is funny as well. People just give him bad ratings b/c they don't have a good study ethic. He doesn't quiz you to death like Fleming to make sure you're keeping up. He treats you like adults.
You either like this teacher style of teaching or you dont. the exams are fair and if you worked HARD...it will show. There is NO curve and it is usually curved upwards. A 92% can still be a B+ so dont get cocky n think you acing the class when you get a 200/200 on your first exam. You never know your rank till the end.
I thought he was an excellent organic professor. He is very passionate and he knows his stuff. Study his quizzes and back-exams, he will often duplicate questions. He does give extra credit so answer everything you can. Its orgo so you must study hard regardless. He is also very attractive with a sexy accent. Never a dull moment in his class.
Cross isn't really my cup of tea, but he is an okay professor overall. His midterms are mad easy, but they don't prepare you at all for the ACS exam, which is extremely difficult. I got really high scores on all the midterms but didn't do so well on the ACS. I ended up getting a B. BEWARE OF THE CURVE! A 93 average will not get you an A!
Love the accent!!! easy to comprehend his lecture. not a easy grader, attendance is a must otherwise you would miss a lot!! midterms were hard!!Take at your own risk!
Fabulous professor and easy on the eyes (that's for sure). Very clear, very helpful, amazing Orgo professor. In comparison to some other orgo chem professors, an orgo god.
Great professor. Gives handouts and detailed notes. You need to go to every class to do well. Your final grade is a bit normalized to the total with the points so it change what you get and itsn't out of 1000 points. Overall still very fair and helpful do the backexams and know the material and this class is a very easy.
I don't know how to start about Cross. He is my favorite professor so far at Temple. He is AWESOME. He explains the material so well that I never read the books. If you study the notes and listen to what he says in class, you will do fine with the tests. He is funny and HOT too. But he does not curve much though. Take him and you wont regret it
He is the Science teacher temple has. Goes over the material clearly, he give you time to study for his testes. The thing with his class is to read the material before hand it will be extremely helpful. Im taking him for orgo II again
Cross is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He really knows a lot about orgo. His lectures are very easy to follow and take notes on. For you premed kids, he teaches you everything your going to need to know for the MCATS, except nomenclature, but thats really easy to learn on your own.
Great professor! but come to class!! cross will put many problem that he showed in class on the exams so it helps to go to lecture. If you are not doing well go talk to him! overall the exams were fair but you must study!
