He is nice, and funny, but a BAD TEACHER to take for speech. He takes this class wayyyy too seriously and makes it impossible. There are 5 speeches and he grades VERY HARD. Gives quizes all of the time. In general he is a very difficult teacher who grades you on your speaking ability, not your efforts. BAD TEACHER!!!!!!!
I agree completly with the comment below. Count have said it better myself!
Jason is a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful and funny.I enjoyed his class,He encourage me to be a better speaker . I would have not been able to speak well as I do now, without his guideness. He cares very much for his students. I am blessed I got him as a teacher.
WANT to do your self a favor keep away from this teacher, you will go there and just wonder for an hr what the f*** am i doing in this class, terrible teacher, if there is no other option ok go head bad for reals ouch waste of time, good student posting this but his class not worth it, and i got an ok grade in his class imagine that
Mr. Davidson is a nice teacher, although a little extreme. He tries to be funny and make the class as interested in speech as he is. He grades pretty tough so if you are a shy person, you might not do as well as you would hope in this class.
Yeah, Jason takes things seriously, but it's because he SERIOUSLY wants you to be better. He grades tough, but tells you how to improve. He pushed me to be better than I thought I could be, and I've never had a teacher believe in me so much. I'm a better speaker and a better person for having taken his class.

I am so glad I had Jason! He helped me so much! I am a better speaker because of him and couln't have gotten through the class without his help!
DAVIDSON IS TE WORST TEACHER EVER!!! HE GRADES REDICULOUSLY... IF HE IS NOT THAT FOND OF YOU AND YOU DONT MAKE THE BIGGEST ATTEMPT TO KISS HIS ASS THEN YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT DO WELL,HE IS A SPEECH NERD THAT TAKES IT SO SERIOUSLY YOU WOULD THINK HIS LIFE DEPENED ON IT!!! BAD TEACHER:-EVEN HIS PARENTS WERE SPEECH ON THE SPEECH DEBATE TEAM TOGETHER.:|
Funny guy. Helped me a lot.
What more could you want that a teacher that actually cares about their subject? I learned from Davidson, and it gave me things i can use to become a better speaker if i wanted to. I also scored an A in the class, without too much effort. He is a Very fair grader, just practice your speeches some and follow directions and you will be fine.
i took him for winter. it was a really busy winter considering i only took one class. i was writing speeches every single day.worked my ass off. he grades hard. i'm sure if i worked as hard with another teacher, i would have gotten an A. i only got a B in that class. but i did learn alot. if u don care bout grade n just want to learn, great teacher
Jason is an excellent teacher. I looked forward to listening to his lectures every day - he's very funny and animated. Got an A, but if you want to do well you shouldn't have a full-time job, because you will NOT do well if you don't practice. Like all classes you just have to work at it - don't expect and easy grade to fall at your feet.
Made me work hard, but I learned so much! His lectures are good and make the class bearable. Good guy too.
i took him for speech 1 and 3 and they both were fun and interesting.take him he's awsome
He's oober hyped up about speech and helps the class get hyped up and less nervous. He's very clear on points and concepts and they're not hard to grasp. His energy keeps the night class awake, even when he's tired. He does require commitment and hard work. But if you do it, you'd do great! Also, I got to give him props for looking great in suits!
he is so awesome. he is very straight foward and clear. speech is a requirement so even if you dont like talking in front of people take his class, be there, try hard and trust you'll have a lot of fun. u gotta see his impressions. not to mention he's kinda cute.
Made a terrifying subject bearable, maybe almost enjoyable. Challenging but fair. Excellent instructor, very highly recommended.
great professor thank you for your help I really enjoyed your class winter session thanks for your kind spirit by the way you look great in suits
IF YOU WANT TO HAVE NO LIFE AND GET STUCK WORKING WITH PEOPLE FOR 16 WEEKS IN A "TRIBE" THEN SIGN UP! I WOULD RATHER TAKE TRIG AGAIN THAN THAT CLASS. IT REVOLVES AROUND SURVIVOR (TV). YOU WORK IN "TRIBES" HE CHOOSE FOR YOU & MEET WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE YOUR TRIBE 2 + TIMES A WEEK FOR AT LEAST 2 TO 4 HOURS A SESSION. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR! JUST SAY NO!
Jason Davidson is the****. Take this class; you'll actually ENJOY IT. During his lecture, you actually forget you're in class. A few times I swear it was like watching Dane Cook. This professor knows his business and he knows it WELL.
Speech 1 was spectacular. He made the class so enjoyable, it feels like your at a comedy club. He was hilarious, but actually knows what hes talking about, and makes things easy to understand. This class isnt an easy A, you have to do quizes, and put effort into speeches, but its a great fun and hilarious class. youll actually learn something.
WoW, Jason is amazing! He is the funniest teacher in the universe! His class was super fun, we had 5 speeches but they all equalled to less than 20 mins. I got an A.
BAD teacher. Funny, but a bad teacher. People on here seem to think that being comical makes you a good teacher? He takes this class WAY too serious considering EVERYONE has to take it. It is a mandatory class and SHOULD be easy. The structure is retarded and there are TOO many quizes. 3 units but 10 units of work.
I agree with the last comment. It's not so much that this class was hard, he just took it way too seriously. This is supposed to be a beginning speech class, but he treats it as though we are supposed to be professionals. He also cut down a lot of students in the class. Our entire class feels that he is not all that he is hyped up to be.
He isn't an easy teacher, but he's always there to help with speeches. He tells you exactly what he wants from you. There's quite a few speeches but they are all fairly short. He's very entertaining to listen to, and he's very good at what he does. The people that drop out of his class were usually a waste of time to listen to anyhow. =/
Jason is a wonderful teacher. Yes, is class is not the easiest class you will take but, ITS PUBLIC SPEAKING PEOPLE, whatever teacher you take its gonna be hard. And he's easy as long as you read the chapters he assigns(its only like 2-3 pgs long) and practice your speechs. He is way funny and is always available for people who need help. A+
Mr. Davidson doesn't give As like he would candy, but if you remember that THIS IS COLLEGE and do your work correctly, you'll be fine. I just wish he would wear his suits a little bit tighter, (i'm just saying). He is professional & knowledgeable. Oh and yes he is funny, that's another +. He teaches very well, you just have to do your part, work!
DO NOT TAKE SPEECH 3 WITH JASON! hes a great teacher and really nice, but waaay too much outside work
Good teacher but wouln't recomemend to first year students. many quizzes but do help for final. I just wished he would return them so we can study of them
Honestly, I didn't like this class much until I realized all that I had learned. I really think that this class will help you become a better speaker and will help you out in the long run. I do recommend this class!
Jason is a great teacher.he is also funny.i didnt think i was goning to pass his class,i ended up with a B.one thing you have to watch out for is the 5point quizs, they add up.5 speaches, midterm, and final that are easy.only 2 absences but i had more lol.i wasnt good at speech, but as long as you do the work, show your trying, and show up youll be fine
Most interesting teacher I've ever had at El Camino. He's always well dressed (something you should do on speech day). Quizes and tests are EASY. The chapters are like 3 pages long and easily comprehendable. He does remind me of Dane Cook by the way he lectures, but he is way funnier. DANE COOK IS NOT FUNNY.
Looking back at the class, I really learned a lot and Jason definately made the class fun. He's probably one of the funniest teachers I've ever had. As much as I hate public speaking, I would definately take another speech class with Jason...if I had to, that is.
Jason is a very funny teacher; there was not one day you didn?t laugh in his class. Speech class in general is not that great, but it was good in his class. Five speeches you have to show up to do all of them, if you miss one you fail the class. Only allowed two absences so go to class!!!Quizzes were easy as long as you read the book you will do fi
kool teacher and funny !
Probably one of the best and funniest teachers at elco. He makes you WANT to come to class. The only thing he is really tough on is people that are unprepared. Reading or skimming the book is a must for the quizzes/tests. Easy A if you make sure you practice your speech, stay within time and do the outline. Oh and he videotapes the speeches too.
very easy. makes class interesting. short speeches & papers. all that he asks is that you come to class.
Great teacher, tries really hard to help the kids. Feels bad if you look bored and tries to make it more interesting. Always excited and never misses a day. Attendence is mandatory though, you only get one abscence. Dont need to have great speeches to pass the class!!! I got an easy A. I took the 5 week class would love to take the 20!!!
Jason is the best teacher ever!!! he's extremely funny...he should be a comedian. his class is very fun and his lectures are very cool. i strongly recommend him. Jason Rocks!!! :D
Professor Davidson is tight! There are 5 main speeches with quizzes every week (but they are easy). He is funny for sure and I love the suits he wears to class everyday. You will learn a lot in this class, and you will start to grasp your nerves during speeches after a while. Highly recommended! Take him, you'd be missing out of you didn't
Jason's Readers' Theatre class is one of the best at El Camino! He is very passionate and dedicated to this class. It was such an amazing and fun experience! You will feel so much more comfortable speaking in front of people after this class. And you may find you are a lot more creative than you thought you were! I HIGHLY recommend this class!
SCOM-9 is one of the best Comm classes El Camino now offers! I have taken 7 different speech classes from from El Camino and have found that this class combines all I have previously learned and applies it in a fun and educational way. Take this class if you want to become a better PUBLIC speaker! Professor Davidson is a great instructor!
I LOVED this class! took it for winter. you really have to show that you care about doing well. Jason is so funny and such a great teacher. probably my favorite class by far. not too much work and really not that hard. love you jason!
I took him for the winter session, and I loved him!! Amazing professor! Great sense of humor and lectures aren't boring. I never missed a day, you just want to be there! Speeches are easy, quizzes can get annoying but are easy too. TAKE HIM!! HE IS AWESOME!! :) YOU ROCK!
Jason Davidson is a wonderful teacher. I took his Speech class about a year ago and still remember the valuable information. I greatly appreciate his enthusiasm, A+ for him!
Jason is very funny, but has very high expectations. Don't go into this class thinking it will be easy. But, you will learn a lot. You really need to spend a lot of time practicing your speeches. I liked him overall, but he had a tendency to subtly make fun of students who asked "stupid" questions, so I was uncomfortable asking for help.
Jason is a very energetic, fun teacher. He speaks very well and gives great lectures. This class contains five speeches that are very well explained and taught, and contains quizzes weekly (the book for this class is only $25). Overall, i had a great experience taking this class along with this teacher && i highly recommend it!
He's energetic, funny, engaging, & very helpful. Read the syllabus and be prepared ahead of time. Also, take his tips. Easy A or B.
Jason is not only hot, but he's an amazing teacher! I took him in the summer and he made it so fun! This man will make you laugh, but work very hard to recieve a good grade. Be prepared, ontime, and focused, but still have a lot of fun! Everyone should take him!
Jason's Readers Theatre class is demanding, emotionally stimulating, fun, crazy, hilarious, frightening, exhilarating, and exhausting all at the same time. This is NOT a course for the weak. But if you dedicated to your art, this class can be an amazing experience for you. Thanks, Jason! You rock my RT world!
I learned a lot. I worked hard. But he's worth it.
Jason was so funny! There are a couple of quizzes, a midterm, and a final. His lectures are understandable and he is very enthusiastic about his teaching. You won't regret taking his class. I learned a lot.
Awesome professor. About 12 quizzes consisting of approx. 4 short readings. Final is comprehensive. There's 5 speeches and a progress journal. He demands a lot from his students. However, you will master public speaking! Can't go wrong with him. He's organized, great humor, and smart.
My class starts at 8a. I am not a morning person, and I don't like public speaking, but Jason's class is interesting and fun. Who would have though speech would bee this fun. He is an awesome Prof. Keeps me wide awake and the class laughing every day, while learning. That's how it should be.
Jason is hilarious!!! My class started at 8:00am and even though I dragged to class once I was there the two hours felt like 30 minutes. I was laughing all the time. He has an example or somekind of hilarious experience for most of his lectures. He does grade hard though. Prepare to work for your grade and the quizzes are a crucial part of your gra
He's nice and all, but he gets waayyyy too nervous/excited when lecturing to the point where he becomes spastic. it's annoyingly creepy. I dread his class. I do NOT reccommend this class!
Funny professor, his lectures are never boring and are really helpful. Jason stresses a lot about preparing for speeches, so the grading for them gets tougher as the class progresses, always prepare beforehand. Take him and you'll think more positive about public speaking!
Loved his class! Not only it is so helpful, It is very fun. You need to prepar your speech ASAP!and u need to take Q almost every class, Best instructor I ever had in ECC.THX Jason;)
Altogether, his speeches are only 17 minutes total. I don't like speaking in front of a crowd but his class made it easy. Very animated and funny. Recommend.
Best teacher!!!! Love him he's hilarious. Makes a much dreaded class easy to go to
Awesome teacher! has a lot of energy so definitely keeps you awake during class. Just read and practice a lot for your speeches. and your bound to get an A for the class. Great class learned a lot.
Good teacher. Interesting class. Make sure you do well on the quizzes and you can just be average on the speeches. DON'T flunk the quizzes it makes the class so much harder. Do not underestimate this class, I thought it was gonna be a breeze but now I'm barely getting a B.
Great teacher! He's very helpful and funny! I didn't want to take this class, dreaded it actually, but he made it fun and great. Work hard and you'll be fine. He's a no bs kinda guy but overall great class
First of all, I hate giving speeches in front of people, but Jason made it so easy! He's really helpful and is always willing to answer questions or help you with your speeches. He's also hilarious!! I loved this class (except on speech days)
Giving speeches isnt easy on everyone but he makes it fun! hes super funny and is so nice and willing to help you in anyway. Now that doesnt mean the tests etc are easy but definately worth taking his class. the best teacher i have taken at ecc.
I love Jason, he is a great professor. I took him during the summer and his class was one of my favorites. Of course giving a speech in front of the class is never easy, but Jason makes you feel more comfortable. Jason is funny and makes the class fly by. If you need to take a communication class..take him!!
He is one of the most disrespectful people I have met! sure at first he seems great, great class and professor but that's because it is his JOB to be like that, however as a person he is RUDE and NOT helpful!
As a Professor, Jason is one of the BEST I'VE EVER HAD!! He is extremelly helpful, funny, interesting and ooohh sooo clear with what he expects from his students. I have dreaded taking Speech for the past 3 semesters, but I am glad I chose him as my instructor. He has a genuine concern for his student's success in this class. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!!
Great professor! He's helpful and willing to help you succeed. Even after I took his class I emailed him for a letter a rec and he wrote them for me. So nice. Sure Speeches are dreading but everyone in class does them.
At first I dreaded of taking a speech class. After taking him, it actually did not seemed that bad. It was not easy, but it was a fun experience. I took him during the summer, and Jason was great. Very funny, and his lectures are crystal clear! You did not feel the time passing by in the class.
great
I am a horrible public speaker but somehow managed to get an A in the class. The quizzes definitely help your grade. Overall he is an awesome, funny, and very knowledgable teacher. I learned a lot from his class. No matter what career you choose, you're bound to speak in front of people. He prepares you for that and so much more! Take his class!
I don't like him, but he is a good teacher. This is a class you WILL need to read the text book for, but the book is super small. Also, FOLLOW THE SYLLABUS.
He's a tough but fair teacher. He has high standards but he makes them very clear. The people who don't like his class don't try, a lot of people in my class let their fears about public speaking get in the way. He knows that not everyone is a great speaker, so he set the class up so you can FAIL every speech and still ace the class. And he's funny
One of the hardest (if not THE hardest) teachers in the department (I know, because I'd taken it with two others & dropped), BUT his instructions are so clear and he's so willing to help, I found it easier to complete his class than with other instructors who required less. Warning: Expect to work your butt off. Slackers can't survive his class.
cool guy, but attendance is super strict and doesn't give back quizzes or any work to study off of for future midterms , words on tests and quizzes are very tricky, alright class so far
This dude grades hard as heck. I did not like his class, it wasnt alot of work or anything he just makes it way too complicated. He is a cool funny guy but i recomend that you DO NOT TAKE HIM if you are not ready to commit your energy to a perfect speech.
Attendance is really strict. 5 speeches for the class with constant quizzes and reading assignments. Midterm and final are based on quizzes and readings. You have to really invest your time for this class but if you put in the time you'll get a solid grade. I learned a lot !
Jason is a strict teacher. Attendance is mandatory, and there are a lot of quizzes, he also grades your 5 speeches hard. But he is the most helpful teacher i have met. If you are at least seriously trying, hes not going to fail you. he is awesome and i learned a lot about public speaking from him. Take him if you aren't a slacker.
I can tell Professor Davidson is a fun, helpful guy. but its only the second day of class and I've already had to buy a specific type of memory card to record speeches on and an adapter to watch them on the computer. thats $20 bucks right on top of textbook and we have an entire semester left of random stuff he may or may not want us to buy.
He reminds me of Neil Patrick Harris, and that's a compliment. He's extremely helpful, has a passion for public speaking, and his quizzes were really easy. He made us do a speech on the second day of class, so that was an unpleasant surprise. He also records all our speeches so we can go home and evaluate ourselves. Overall, he's an amazing prof.
I loved this teacher! He is pretty hard but he's willing to help students out. He truly cares about his students! His tests are tricky and his speeches are tough. His lectures are never boring. He's funny and makes class interesting :) I didn't regret taking him!
If you are terrified of public speking definitely take him!! He looks intimidating but omg he makes you feel comfortable and better about making the speeches. He is very funny and not boring at all..his lectures are actually interesting and the class is actually enjoyable , he is very helpful..one of the best teachers I've had
All semester I was getting decent grades on speeches (B's) and good on quizzes (A's), which there are a lot of. So by the end of the semester I weighed my grade out to a B, but I check my grade book and SURPRISE an A. I'm not sure how he pulled it off but it worked for me. Tried emailing him questions a few times, not as helpful as in person.
Jason is one of the most interesting and funniest professor I have had. His speeches are mandatory so if you miss one you are dropped. His lectures are pretty clear except when he goes a little bit off topic. There are tons of small quizes. He makes it really easy to review your speeches. And he shows you a video about spidergoats. :)
He's funny and great and blah blah blah. He doesn't know how to work with students one on one. For a communication prof. he sure is awkward when it comes to communicating... That being said he's a nice guy and its not to hard to get an A, just do the readings for the quizzes and never miss a speech (there's only 5). Wouldn't recommend tho, Sorry J.
great teacher nice guy
This is not an "easy A" class maybe an "easy solid B" Class. Make sure to read the text book and work on your speeches ASAP. Don't let the other negative comments discourage you, I'm not a school oriented student but I still got a high B. I believe no one can get an high A on a speech because he will critique you strictly but you will learn A LOT.
He is a really hard grader,he totally grades the speeches really strictly and critically.
Heck of a great guy. Actually helps out his students as much as he can. Actually learn on how to do speeches, I really enjoyed being in his class. He is Hella funny. But prepare to read the text book cuz u get quizzes on chapters. I'll totally do it again. He did the speech lab phantasms and it was freaking awesome.
I'm not that great of a public speaker but I still managed to get an A in the class. If you do the readings, take the quizzes and put some effort into the speeches you should be fine. He does grade a little tough but the quizzes really boost your grade up.
Chill teacher. Just show up to class everyday, and do what he says. Pretty straight forward with his assignments. He is truly an awesome teacher at EL CO if not one of the best.
He is such a great teacher. I actually enjoy his class and I hate public speaking. He is extremely helpful for whatever you need in regards to your speech. He makes sure everything is crystal clear. Just show up on time every class, read the super short material, and follow his suggestions and guidelines for the speeches and you'll do fine.
One of my favorite teachers at ElCo, if not the best. Follow his instructions and read each ch assigned and you will pass. He is extremely punctual and such a funny teacher. He made more confident in myself and my public speaking abilities.
Professor Davidson is a good comm teacher. However, a bit too ambitious for a community college course. If u want that A, u really got to work for it. Love his style tho.
He is a fun professor. He is really funny. I recommend taking him for comms 1. He gets you ready for the speeches. He demonstrates, and there are many notes to take. DO NOT MISS A SPEECH, you will be dropped. there are some tests, but only for the midterm and final. DO NOT WAIT TIL THE LAST MINUTE TO WRITE THE SPEECHES.
He's got high standards. This is no easy A class. Strict grader, but clear criteria. Extremely punctual! If you like a challenge, take him. If you want an A, take anyone else...
He is very funny and passionate. The lectures are hilarious and easy to follow. He is very clear in what he wants for the speeches. Make sure to NEVER miss your speech or you WILL be dropped! He is very strict in grading them, but if you follow the criteria you'll be fine. If you want an A you have to work for it. Nonetheless he is a great teacher
I really enjoy his class, but the only thing i did not like was the chapter quizzes before his lectures. He gives extra credit, midterm and final are the same questions from the quizzes. If you want to learn to be a good speaker, you want to take his class.
Jason is one of the best teachers Ive had at El Co. His lectures are hilarious and something to look forward to. Tests and quizzes are easy if you read. Speeches are graded hard but if you follow the outline and prepare in advance you'll do fine. You'll learn a lot and will have a good time doing it!
His lectures was funny.
He is terrible
Awesome teacher. He really helps make sure you know how to give a proper speech and is honestly hilarious. Made all the lectures seem like stand up comedy to keep students attention and it works. Quiz's are multiple choice but be sure to read the chapters. Speeches count for a lot but he is clear with what he wants and be sure to practice.
He was super hilarious. I loved how he didn't care to put you on the spot for lacking common sense like a lot of the people in my class did. In all seriousness though, he makes passing the class extremely easy. Not to say the class itself is easy, but he lets you know what he wants. Just show up to class, take good notes and read the book.
He is a funny professor and gives you a clear grading criteria when it comes to speeches. I was originally afraid of public speaking but this class has really pushed me to become a more confident person. I like how he ties his experiences to class lectures. Take him if you really want to learn. Hi professor if you're reading this! Good luck guys!
He's not terrible! He's awesome! Lectures are fun and Jason wants you to succeed. For his last lecture he did a magic trick and I wish he did more. It was memorable. A VERY difficult class, but one of the best classes you will ever take. Don't give up and listen to Jason.
very specific in what he wants but tells you everything you need beforehand so you won't miss anything. his lectures are hilarious. books is essential and you will have several quizzes on the assigned reading. 5 speeches in the semester, all timed and recorded so buy an SD card. Tough grader but just wants you to do well. 2 Mandatory speech labs.
Absolutely hilarious. Is very specific in how he grades so as long as you follow it you'll be fine. PREPARE YOUR SPEECHES IN ADVANCE!!! DO NOT WAIT LAST MINUTE! Extremely easy to tell when a person is unprepared. 5 speeches (recorded) for your own self evaluation paper), 2 speech labs, quizzes on readings. simple and straightforward.
He gives too many speeches, and a strict grader, don't take him if you never given a speech before, take a different course.
Phenomenal teacher. If you want an energetic teacher, this is the guy. Extremely knowledgable. BEWARE- this is no easy A class. He is clear about his grading criteria- HOWEVER, his standards are set very high. Extremely punctual! You learn a lot, but he is a very strict grader. If you want a challenge, take him; If you want an A, take anyone else..
Humorous and intelligent professor! He tells you ahead what he expects from you and how he expects it. Never miss a speech (automatic F). Do the self evaluations and prep packet for easy points. Your speeches are recorded for your use. If you follow his structures and directions, you will easily become a better speaker.
You don't need to be a great public speaker to get an A in this class. Just do good on the midterms and final but also make sure to put in time and practice for your speeches.
So I was .5% away from an A in this course and I received a B. He had previously stated that he would honor a rounding up to a higher grade and then didn't. Enough said. Good luck.
Best teacher I've ever had! Professor Davidson taught me how to use stuff for speeches that I can also apply to real life. He's the best!
He has very high grading standards. Definitely not an easy class. However, all the points from the quizzes add up and the quizzes are very easy. All you need to do is just read and study the assigned chapters the night before the quiz. He is funny and loves performing magic tricks.
I took Davidson for the Fall 2016 course and he was intense. I had him for the early 7am class. Miss 3 classes and you are automatically dropped. Miss 1 speech and you automatically fail the class. If you are a communication major, then he is the man to take. If you are not a coms major then think twice because you have to earn your grade. I
Intelligent & funny professor. Lectures are fun, make sure to follow the guidelines. Self evaluation & content maps are easy A's if u submit when it's due. Quizzes are easy A's too if u practice the sample questions beforehand. Never miss a speech & be prepared. Just follow instructions and you will have an A in his class.
Don't take his Public Speaking class if you're expecting an easy A. He is an extremely tough grader and it is difficult to get an A. If you miss two classes, you fail and if you miss one speech, you fail. He gives great lectures but is a bit difficult to approach one on one.
Cutest pumpkin pie i have seen.
He demands a lot from students and makes you be an actual grown up. That means being accountable for your schoolwork and attendance. His lectures are entertaining and this class is very valuable. Put the effort in and there is a high chance to get an A. Don't get too discouraged about quizzes, they are their for your help. Practice and prepare!
Read and prepare for the book quizzes bc those points are really helpful and they add up. He offered extra credit towards the end of the semester. DO NOT procrastinate on your speeches. He is a really tough grader but if you put the time and effort into preparing you'll do good. Just make sure to do what he wants on speeches and youll get an A.
he was awesome! I love this professor. He is really entertaining and funny! do not procrastinate on your speeches! practice as soon as you get the assignment and youll have no problem!
I was recommended to take this class by a friend, and I regret nothing! I have 2 advice. 1: Do not miss his class, especially on a speech day! If you do, you will fail the class. 2: Read, read, read! I cannot stress that enough you will be having quizzes once or even twice for each week! He may be strict on grading, but overall he is a good teacher
he can be strict while grading speeches. He does give extra credit, and if you try, you will get an A in his class. Learned alot.
as a speech prof he's dope! his lectures are hilarious and he's very kind. You do have to read the textbook in order to pass his quizses. and you have to do ALL the speeches or you won't pass. his speeches aren't hard, but you should practice. overall great class, definetley helped with my social anxiety.
He is very charming and sweet. His lectures are magical, easy to understand. I really miss him because he is doing only COM 100 :( If you are reading this sir, only thing i want to say is "I miss you"
He should not be teaching an entry level speech class. He grades way to hard and expects to much of students with no prior experience of giving speeches.
He is honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had I would not recommend him to anyone, he has unrealistic expectations for students that are just learning how to give a speech
Professor Davidson simply should not be teaching an entry level class. He expects to much from beginning public speaking students. I only ended with a B because of the quizzes and final.
He sounds like Seinfeld
Very strict with attendance. Gives a lot of quizzes and test is worth most of your grade
Professor Davidson is an amazing speaker! Halfway through the semester, I realized that he teaches by example and I learned a lot just by watching him. He grades speeches hard, but the secret is that he gives you enough points for other homework to give you a high grade in the class. Great experience.
Hes hard but his class is good. I actually use this stuff more than I thought.
I actually looked forward to his lectures. I've been to lots of different schools and Prof Davidson is the most genuine teacher I've ever had. You're lucky if you get to take his class.
He's an amazing communication teacher but he's a tough grader especially on presentation. I barely passed any of his quizzes...I honestly don't even know how I passed his class. He's very serious about attendance so if you miss class better ask a friend or just try not to miss any days honestly cause he'll drop you with no hesitation.
He grades hard! But I respect his opinion. He's a pro. My advice is show up and follow the assignments. He rewards those of us who care and want to learn. Glad I took his class. Im better for it.
Super funny and caring would take class again.
Prof. Davidson is outstanding. I had the opportunity to take interpersonal comms with him. The class is standard work wise; weekly reading from the textbook & short quizzes. Easy if you do the reading. Cares about the students & let us use the cheapest textbook possible ($15). Weekly reflection papers. Take him if you have the opportunity!
Prof. Davidson is clear with due dates and weekly assignments. He gives a course calendar and lets you know what the quizzes are on. Comms 130 there is a multi choice midterm and final. The final speech is on your research paper. Great class for learning. He does lecture a lot from power points but keeps class interesting with videos and group work
Hilarious
Jason is a great professor, he makes it clear as to what he wants and has his standards set. He's passionate about what he does and that shows. His grading can be hard, but he lets you know why he scored you that way. His lectures are super funny. There's usually quizzes but they're super easy, just review the textbook pages and you'll be fine :)
Mr. Davidson is one of the most entertaining professors I've ever had. You will never be bored during his lectures, and his quizzes are straight-forward. Yes, he is somewhat of a difficult grader on speeches but he leaves great feedback. With practice and preparation, you'll do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions and never miss speech day.
Professor Davidson is the most amazing Communications professor. He is super nice and caring. One speech and one research paper (which is so easy). Read the chapters assigned, take the quizzes, and get an A. Mid term & Final are just combos of the quizzes. Jason is so inspirational, and I am so sad that I am done with my communication requirements.
Professor Davidson is one tough professor. He grades speeches quite harshly and if you can't take criticism well I would not take him. Do good on the tests and quizzes and you should be okay if you get B's on most speeches. Make sure you read the textbook and take good notes. When asking him questions be careful because he can make you feel dumb.
A passionate teacher who keeps your attention during lectures. A good class to take if you're afraid of public speaking. He motivates you to do well and the one speech you give does not count for too much of your grade. Do well on tests, quizzes, and the paper and you'll have fun.
I'm glad I took his Interpersonal Communications class because it made me think more on my speech and way of talking now than before. I wish I took this class in High School because I would've been a better communicator than I was before.
Davidson really made the course fun, you have three short papers about yourself, quizzes, midterm, research paper, and final(which are easy). you read the chapters on your own then have a quiz and a lecture about it. The lectures are easy to follow and often times include anecdotes, if you do your work its an easy A .Definitely take his class!
Every lecture will make you laugh; this guy should be comedian honestly. Overall the class isnt hard, at first I thought interpersonal was more public speech but it is not so dont worry. Class grading is very easy just read and take short quizes, only big exam is midterm and final, and lots of extra credit. You will not get lower than an A.
Worst professor ever! Had no empathy on students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Encouraged students to drop the class or receive an F. He has an entitled, arrogant, and impulsive demeanor. I learned absolutely nothing during this class. El Camino definitely needs to address his lack of professionalism.
Super bad, I highly do not recommend taking his class. super arrogant. classes were moved online due to the covid-19 pandemic and he was absolutely no help. his email responses were not helpful nor was he understanding to what our needs were at all. A professor that lacks communication with his/her students shouldn't even be a professor.
If you are able to choose another professor you seriously should. I had him during the COVID-19 outbreak and I understand that there will be difficulties but all of my other teachers were understanding of the situation and were helpful but Davidson seemed to dislike the idea of any leniency or help. I could name various examples but they're toolong
This professor might be a good coms teacher if his class was in person. Taking his class online (covid) was the worst decision I have done. He doesn't let you know when tests are until 10mins before they open on canvas. He grades your speeches very hard and dont expect a B on any speech if you didn't buy a backdrop and a nice camera for the class.
The textbook is online and interactive, which makes it easier to get through. You get multiple tries on quizzes. Professor Davidson's lectures are super engaging and he makes me laugh so much. The material is super interesting and his delivery only makes it better. He's very clear about deadlines and assignments.
Great professor gives amazing and funny lectures. Professor Davidson also makes lectures enjoyable through humor. A little tough on grading but gives you everything you need to pass and lets you know exactly what you need to improve on.
One of the hardest graders. Barely gives extra credit and makes tests/quizes at a certain time you have to take so if you miss a quiz at 7:45 am you're screwed and he doesn't give a lot of grace so if something is going on that week with you don't expect to ask him for anything .
His lectures are entertaining and funny, however, take good notes on what he says during the lectures for the mid and final exams. The exams are extremely difficult and tricky. He grades very harshly on presentations. High school presenting is never compared to college presenting in his class.
Do not take his class. If you're reading this he grades extremely hard and theres no make ups for his quizes. The quizes are set at a certain time every morning/evening and if you miss it too bad. The exams are very tricky and way harder then i imagined for and entry level Comms class. If you're a B/C student i wouldn't take his class don't, do it.
He grades extremely hard. Outlines are due before every speech but he does not grade them and leave feedback until the end of the semester so you have no idea how to improve the next outline until it is too late. If you email with questions or concerns he either answers like youre stupid/bothering him or does not answer at all.
Hardest I've ever worked for an A, he is very picky about the presentations. The quizzes are solely based on his lectures so be sure to listen and take notes. Davidson makes his lectures somewhat entertaining and funny. If you are taking this class, get ready to give your absolute best.
I only took this class (COMS-130) to get out taking COMS-100 (the speech class). (Both fulfill the A1 transfer requirement, and I don't like giving speeches.) Professor Davidson is hilarious and kept me engaged in our Zoom meetings all semester. I even learned stuff that helped me with my boyfriend. I would take this class again, if I could.
This class is interesting and professor Davidson makes it better. Really learned things from this class. Best course and best professor I ever met.
This class helped me personally in SO many ways. Professor Davidson's lectures are hilarious and always included something that I needed to hear. I honestly cant recall a time when I wasnt engaged. My only regret is not being able to take him in-person. This class was easily the most fun and most meaningful class in my entire college experience.
Mr. Davidson was a very tough grader on the speech's, outlines, and topic proposals. Gives out a lot of extra credit. Mandatory attendance is required for the zoom lectures or else you won't pass the class.
Although he teaches pretty well I promise he does not care one bit about his students and about the current circumstances. Extremely apathetic. He is one of the toughest graders and will pick apart your speech. He gives you three times to take a quiz. Also, there are five speeches and the last two speeches are live.
Professor Davidson is extremely clear on exactly what you need to do for the speeches, and I even practiced three of the speeches with him on Zoom, outside of class! He was so encouraging and motivational. I would not have made it through this speech class without his help. PLUS, he gave a TON of extra credit! Really made it easy to get an A.
This was my first pubic speaking class and Prof. Davidson really made me feel comfortable and not judged to talk in public. There is substantial hw on Pearson but its not too difficult. There's a few papers, but they aren't long. Just follow his directions and you will not be disappointed. He's a very funny guy and I can tell he genuinely cares.
Cool teacher, only downside is that the hw is on Pearson, or upside, depends on you. Has 2 exams and 1 speech so yeah hes right. Very Blunt
Take him in person! My only problem with the class is that it was at 8AM, and I am a night owl. Anyway, buying the online textbook is mandatory unfortunately, but the content is easy and straightforward. He is very personal with his students and wants everyone to succeed. 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 speech. Got a C on the midterm and I still have an A.
Very caring professor. He makes class lectures are very interesting and funny.
This was my only in-person class, and I am so glad I took it! After every class, I felt inspired to be a better version of me. I actually looked forward to our class meetings on campus, which is something I've never felt before. Professor Davidson is an amazing teacher and helped me to become both a better communicator and a better human being.
Should've been an easy A class but Mr. Davidson made it harder than it should have been. At first his lectures were amazing but after the third week his class was super boring and hard to pay attention in. We had one speech at the end of the semester to make. We had an online textbook and we had to read a lot and there was a lot of tests
I took this class during the summer and in person at 8 am. I definitely did not want to be there at the beginning but this class has changed my life. Professor Davidson is super funny and caring and teaches a lot of life skills. I will really miss this class. I highly suggest taking this class if you need to fill any communication requirements!
You need to attend class, he is very strict in regards to his attendance policy. He is very likeable and funny, but his lectures are mostly him talking and you writing down power point notes. He assigns readings from the textbook and expects you to be prepared for a quiz by next class. Take good notes because everything is on the midterm!
Professor Davision gives fantastic lectures very clearly and with many examples both visually and non visually. He gives great feedback and if your confused on anything don't hestiate to ask him. As someone that dreaded speeches and tried to avoid them; I recommend Professor Davidson. PS. Baby Yoda also attends his class every now and then.
This is the one professor I had this semester I enjoyed and he is the reason I showed up each day. He connects almost all his lectures to his real life to show that this isn't all talk, this is REAL. He starts most classes with quizzes but they are not difficult. Super funny guy as well. So glad I took his class.
Professor Davidson is so awesome. I took him over the summer and had so much fun. He mostly lectures during the class, but he is very funny, and he keeps you focus. He is a tough grader for his speeches, but if you put in the work, you would for sure get that A. His exams are pretty straight forward and if you study, you'll be just fine.
Professor Davidson In my Opinion is a cool professor. In all Honesty the class can get boring at times but he really funny gives you stories on what happened in his life and how it connects to the lecture. THE EXAMS STUDY STUDY. He lets you know if you should drop and you can also go to his office hours for help, Pretty chill but strict Professor.
Lectures are extremely interesting but be a very good note taker. There are two speeches but they're not too terrifying. Textbook changes every now and then but core material pretty much stays the same. I had fun and would recommend
davidson is a great professor. his class lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. only 2 speeches in this whole semester and you basically construct them through outlines. he is a bit strict so just follow his examples and you'll be fine.
This class was transformational. If you want to learn about yourself and actually grow, take this class. He's honest, informative without too much info, and genuinely cares. The subject is fascinating. I wish I could get everyone I've ever known to take his class.
Professor Davidson makes this public speaking class engaging and rewarding. His lectures are informative, and he genuinely cares about student success. The textbook is required, but unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside it.
Prof Davidson is such a great guy and genuinely made the topic fun and engaging. Homework and essays are very reasonable. Exam topics are exactly what is covered in class; if you attend all the classes you will do great. Highly recommend!
Interesting class. Entertaining lectures and a couple fun group activities early on. Need to take detailed notes and follow speech rubrics and instructions carefully. Kind of confusing because comes off as really friendly during lecture, but can feel a little impersonal and judgmental when talking or emailing one on one.
The professor is outstanding. He makes his lectures interesting and entertaining by connecting him to real life situations and stories to help further explanations the lectures. He also does group work which are fun. His assignments are fairly easy and the homeworks are amazing.
Took the class during the winter semester, very good experience. Professor Davidson is a very cool and funny teacher as he makes his lectures fun and easy to understand. Tests aren't hard as long as you took notes and paid attention in class. Homework is online and pretty straightforward. There were 2 speeches but they weren't as daunting.
Professor Davidsons lectures were very interesting and connects it to his life which at times are hilarious. Lectures were transformational and eye opening. I enjoyed his class so much I wish I can experience it again. All HW is online and there is two speeches that are not at all hard.
He's very to the point! Just do your work on time and you will be good. Trust me, He's not going to hold back on the feedback when it comes to presentations. So be prepared and take them seriously. Overall he's a great guy and you will enjoy his class.
All information is went over in-class and it's all very easy to understand. His personality is fantastic and it never gets in the way of his lectures Only assignments given were some multiple choice questions after reading the digital textbook, few writing assignments (1 pg), and 2 speeches. High expectations and is always open if you need guidance
Professor Davidson had very lively lectures! I took him during the summer, and he had very clear and fun sessions. The homework was alright as there was a lot of reading but overall, I would take his professor again :)
Proffesor Davdison is such a good lecturer, he's very funny and also applies his real-life situations to the lectures, which makes it very clear to understand and connect to the concepts we learn. As for assignments, they were done on the online textbook we bought, and can be very long, but the papers and speeches were fairly easy to do.
Interpersonal communication is a very important skill to have, and he does a good job of teaching it. The class is mostly lecture, which were always fun to listen to. His grading on speeches is tough, but fair. He's very professional and entertaining overall.
Professor Davidson is very straightforward; his lectures were one-sided, but they were great/funny lectures. Homework can take a bit to get through the readings. Speeches were graded clearly according to the rubric. He's not one to sugarcoat, so prepare for honest feedback.
Took him during summer, awesome lectures. The first professor that has had amazing lectures where everything would stick and not much studying needed. He's very straightforward about grading and mandatory attendance. Do need to purchase online book for class success. Definitely recommend.
Professor Davidson was a very vibrant and informative instructor. His lectures taught the class the terms we needed to learn for exams and homework, but they were also incredibly entertaining. The homework was a bit lengthy, and he graded the speech assignments harshly, but other than that, the class was enjoyable!
Love his lectures. Very engaging and includes humor to make it more interesting. Assignments are a little time consuming but not too difficult and typically we have a few days/a week to get those assignments done. Assignments done on mandatory online book that costs like 70 bucks. Attendance is mandatory, you get 2 unexcused absences.
Professor Davidson is super funny and nice I love his stories and his assignments and tests are all really easy
