Kinda has a one-track mind when it comes to subjects he enjoys. Loves class participation, and makes sure your prepared for class. Really knows how to get a class fired up with debates, you'll never forget your first class....

Class is different..more on American Culture than anything else....would agree with the one track mind comment! Be prepared as you will have to be involved in class!

At first I was intimidated, but then many people dropped and the class was alright. You have to be diligent and into what is being taught or you'll hate it. But if you actually want to learn and don't mind putting in more effort than you're used to, you may enjoy the class.

he is the first teacher to get me interested in learning, i got so addicted to it i started studying after school. it is a hard class but i have definetively learned more than in any other class. you'll love it. just make sure you do the work. love his method!!!

Great teacher. Makes students do something that not many professors do nowdays: Think. One of the few classes that I actually got something out of and will keep for the rest of my life. A lot of reading is done but everything is with a purpose. I recomend this proff to anyone.

If you are not prepared to get an A; Do not take this class. He is the Professor that enables you to think "outside the box." Do not be fooled by his "tough" exterior." You will be more "empowered," mentally and physically . I dare you to fail; You won't. We need more tutors like Dr.Dew. Thanks sir.

typical college professor. you get your dollars worth when you take him. he makes literature so much more interesting. its a shame so many raters are giving him bad ratings. take him if you want the real deal.

I took Dr. Dew American Lit 1&2. His classes was tough and you had to earn your grade. No doubt. He was an amazing professor. I got a lot out of his class. I wish that my professors @ my reg. school were just this way. Very willing to help and listen...

this is by far the best class i've taken at perimeter. he knows how to expose the lazy ass kids in the class. he makes the class challenging. which at times can make you feel stupid for listening to the idiots in the class. it's funny to see the bewildered faces he makes when they say something stupid. Excellent teacher.

Dr. Dew is a very hard teacher, you have to stay on top of work; however,he is very helpful, just go by his office if you need anything and he gets you to open up your mind more and think outside the box. Don't take him if you are looking for an easy A, take him if you want to learn something

Tough Teacher, Different teaching style not as much personal work critiqing or practice as I would have liked but if you come to class, participate!!!, get past his personal agendas you will do fine. Can be difficult, but is very clear about what he expects. Participate in class and ask questions if you don't understand. He will help if you ask. f you do that you should get a high grade.

I had Dr. Dew for World Lit. He is the best english teacher I ever had. You must come to his class prepared. If you do you will learn alot. There are rules to follow in his class. He is absolutely one of the BEST professor's I've EVER had. Yes, it is not easy....but he IS teaching college, so unless you want to be taught like your in High School, don't even bother to take him, better yet, college is NOT for you. He expects much more from one than just simplicity. Very greatful to have taken him.

Dr. Dew was a very effective teacher. The discussions were interesting,and I became a better writer. If you are lazy don't take this class, because you will fail. He told my class on the second day that we were all probably going to fail. I ended up getting a B. So if you take this class be prepared to work.

Well if you take his class expect 2 7-page test and expect to fail if you do not finish at least 5/7 before time runs out; brutal about grammatic errors, but most likely the pages count a lot more. Very good teacher, but grading policy seems a bit harsh.

So Hard! But you do learn a lot, he seems really mean but he's got a sense of humor. Its nearly impossible to get an A and I had a very hard time just making a C and I'm a good student. If you want to learn, take him, but if you want a good grade: avoid. He said on the first day half the class will fail, very true.

Professor Dew is a great teacher! He loves his job and the students and you can easily see that. Just attend class and read the stories and you will pass. He opens your mind to think differently and he likes to play devils advocate to get the students fired up. Take him if you want to actually stay awake in class b/c its not boring.

This man lives and breathes literature. He seems to be very passionate about the subject. I enjoyed having him because he really cares if you understand or not. I gave him a pepper because of the fire that he has for the subject amongst other things;-). Warning this class is not for the lazy, so be prepared to work and you will be fine.

His class is interesting and you will learn a lot, however, you will not leave with a decent grade. DO NOT be late by more than 5 min or its an absence. Every absence after 2 is 3pts off your grade. Militaristic professor. If you decide to take this class do not pay attention to the 7 page essay rule, just make sure you get your points across.

I thought that I could have learned alot from him, and liked him at first, but I spent 3 weeks writing a research paper, and was one minute late to class b/c of school traffic and he wouldn't except the paper! Literally one minute late, and I had to drop the class b/c it was 20% of my grade! Way too strict...

I think Dr. Dew is an excellent teacher. He is very passionate about world literature and he is a very intelligent man. He has a few rules to abide by but as long as you attend class and take notes on his context there is no reason you should do bad in his class. i highly recommend him!

Dr. dew is strict. At the beginning of the semester he tells you what he expects and what his rules are. Pay close attention because he takes no late work, and deducts points for tardiness. I thought his class was not as bad as people think. Class discussions were always interesting. Overall he is a good professor. Plan to do your work!

In Dr. Dew's class you will definitly work. He is strict but he lets you know from the beginning what he excepts.If you take his class just be prepared to earn your grade. you will need to get the book because it is used alot. There will be at least two papers.Overall it really was not that bad..there was never a dull moment.

Dr.Dew is the best proffesor i've ever had. i admire his passion for his job. His class is chalenging, but interesting. You must do all the work, don't skip classes and don't be late. About 5 pages in 50 min: i got only 4 pages and still got an A, so it matters what you wright and how good or bad your grammar is.

If you love a challenge and want to learn, take this class! Dr. Dew will make you think & challenge your perception of life. It's definately not an easy A class, but the good things in life are never easy!!!!!! He lets you know exactly what is expected up front, so there are no surprises.

Dr. Dew had some stupid rules. tough about coming in late, takes points off your grade every time you come in late, doesn't like when you use the bathroom. Class stuff wasn't that hard, 2 research papers and 2 tests. Ended up with a B.

Dr. Dew is a not your typical community college professor. He challenges us all to take our studies seriously and I think that is a lesson all young people need to learn. Yes, you will have to work in this class, but this is college! We should feel challenged.

Very tough grading tests! All tests are essay, 5 pages. His class is interesting. Hes very passionate about American lit. Dr. Dew is a very passionate and intelligent man; however, he is quite strict. He is not mean, but he is quite frank. He does not GIVE grades, you EARN them. He is not unfair with his grading, he is realistic. If you ask for help, he will do what he can but it is YOU who has to put in the effort. He will only give you a grade you deserve.

Dr. Dew is a good prof & answers everyone's questions. He tries to get everyone to participate. He has rules that if broken will get you a "demerit" which after 2 demerits, will reduce your letter grade by 3 points. So don't break them! Other than that he's cool. Most of the work is writing, but he has interesting topics. P.S. he does debates.

Prof. Dew does not seem to be the happiest man alive, but is an alright teacher. Gets mad if you dont call him Dr. and is kinda strict, but did have some interesting lectures. Would not recommend him though.

A very good teacher!

He is a good teacher. His discussions are interesting. Even though I had his class at 8am during the summer 4 times a week, i was able to keep my attention in that class because it was interesting. Though it is really had to get a good grade in the class. He grades really harshly and is strict about tardiness.

He expects professionalism. Anything less is a waste of your time, not his. This reflects in your grade. The in class writing assignments basically challenge you to make a coherent thought and write it correctly.

extremely hard teacher. very strick. military style form of teaching. 3 test all which are 7 page essay written in 70 mins and yes he expect a well thought pages written one page per every 10 min (and this are only the test)...he does have great lectures. unless you're EXTREMELY confident with your writing skills do not take him.

Dr. Dew was a hard class but I was a great class in the end. The tests were 7 page essays on a question that he wrote on the board but it wasn't that hard because we practiced writing 7 pages in 70 minutes. He was very personable and brought the class to life. He helped tremendously before a final paper was due.

Dr. Dew is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. I hate english more than anything but he made the class so fun and interesting. He grades fairly, he loves hearing all of his students ideas, and he has a great sense of humor. As long as you do everything he asks, you'll get a good grade. Tips: Don't try and change your research subject last minute before the paper is due. Don't text or use a cell phone Actually accept his tips on writing outlines and a clear thesis.

Dr. Dew was a great professor and really sparks conversation and debate in his class. I took his class just for the credit but ended up enjoying it so much I took his second class. Be prepared to show up every day and write at home and in class. His use of current events to encourage writing really makes it interesting and engaging.

Dr. Dew is a phenomenal professor who prepares his students for GSU Atlanta campus and other professional settings. Do not be late to class during a classmates' presentation, while testing or class discussion. He is fair and his grading is clear as everything is on the syllabus. I am looking forward to attending his next class.

He definitely has high expectations for English 1101. You will take 2 exams where he expects you to write 6-7 pages of content in one hour. This was definitely the hardest part of the class but if you pay attention in discussions they will tell you exactly what to write, just pay attention. DO NOT come in late or skip more than two classes.

I took his class online, but it took me four assignments to start getting good grades bc he was so unclear in his feedback. Light workload, but you must do it on time because he does not seem lenient. He grades your work for what it is. As long as you do exactly what he directs, then you will do well.
