Awesome teacher! Young, interesting, attendance is mandatory but doesn't care if you're a tad late, keeps class interesting by relating topics to students. also- really into science fiction and can make it interesting to students who don't particularly care for it. great guy!

I love Dr. Embry. He is just a really young, fun, interesting professor that I've had the honor of learning from as his student. In terms of ENG 1102, READ THE STORIES. It makes it really hard to conduct class when others do not come to class prepared. Do not take Embry for granted, he is an awesome guy but will take nec. action if you screw around

Dr. Embry is a great teacher. He is engaging and is very passionate about literature. Although science fiction isn't my favorite genre, he made it interesting and relevant. The only negative thing I can say about him is that he doesn't comment too much or explain his commentary very well on your papers. Other than that, great class!

Dr. E. is funny, engaging and interesting. His classes are never boring. I had him for 1101 and made sure I got him for 1102.

I loved his class. He's an easy teacher & laid back. He likes to tell stories and the books that he tells you to read for his class are interesting. I wish he was teaching eng 1101 I would definitely take his class for sure.

Do not take him if you are not interested in Science Fiction. He is one of those geek teachers who loves all that fiction related things. ALL the three essays are about steampunk ( so stupid ). Essays are lengthy and hard. so again if you are like me who does not have any interest in science fiction then don't take him.

Yes everything is about steampunk. if you dont know what it is look it up before this class. Read the stories in the textbook and you will do great. he is so laidback and funny, i enjoyed his class. the essays are long and basic structure and orgnization is needed. overall good class, expanded my mind to a new genre of liturature.

I made an A and didn't feel overwhelmed. Take it!

Embry is the best. This was my second class with him. He is very funny. He is a very nice guy. He is always willing to look over papers if you give them to him early. He undertands that things happen and therefore accepts late work, just don't make a habbit of it. He reuires a lot of class discussions so be prepared to talk a lot!

Cool professor. Teaches steampunk which is a little odd but I ended up having an appreciation by the end of the course. usually have weekly readings and 3 papers that are very easy if you pay attention. I highly recommend this class, I wouldnt say easy A but pretty close

He is an awesome teacher and cool individual. He does assign a lot of essays, but they are easy if you focus on it. His lectures and topics are very interesting and can easily keep a student interested and involved. He doesn't grade to tough. He also allows the students to come up with the rubric.

Each paper we were assigned had a minimum of 5 pages. His lectures always left me interested. Even though I'm a terrible writer, i feel like i improved after taking his course. Even some of the best writers in the class could barely get an A though, so he is a difficult grader.

First off, our theme was the apocalypse which was super cool. He's really funny and gives engaging discussions and topics. The essays can be a little long, but it's English, what do you expect. This was a super fun class and I'd definitely recommend taking him.

He has a tendency to play devil's advocate, which is helpful to point out flaws in your paper, which allows you to create a stronger essay. He is the best English professor I've ever had.

Great teacher! I'm taking him for 1102. He teaches you basics about writing and gives good topics for his essays. He cares about his students and is a cool guy. He also gives you a book to read that gives good advice for your everyday life. His class discussions are fun if you participate.

My favorite professor at GGC. He's a great guy; he makes you question things and think about why you think the way that you do. He kind of pushes you towards what you might want to become when you're older. You have to come to class and he likes you to participate.

Pretty good teacher, easy grader, gives extensions on papers. Hardest part of this class was having enough of my paper done of peer editing. Other than that this class is a breeze, he cusses a moderate amount, and he is very respectful and nice to talk to. Please participate in his class, don't be shy! no1 in my class said anything and he was sad!

Dr. Embry is awesome. I've never been so excited and motivated to write a paper in my life. He's very helpful and makes you think hard about things. All you have to do is respond to him. Don't hesitate to ask questions. I waited til the last minute of one of my papers to ask for his feedback and opinion and I wish I had done it a lot earlier.

Dr. Embry is so sweet and funny! He brings the current world and applies what's happening now to what was happening at the times the reading was published. We were assigned 3 short papers and a presentation as well as a midterm and final exam. The exams are pretty difficult, but he's not a tough grader!

Prof. Jason is a real gem!!! Love this person. He is hilarious and cares about his students. He really wants his students to participate in class since there is a huge percentage there 20%!! Gives good feedback and understands students' work schedule. He also extends the time for the assignment, which is great. Overall, he is a great prof. at GGC!

He is the best English professor/teacher I've ever had. He takes the time to really read your essays and helps you become a better writer. We had about 5 grades in class and one of them was participation, so i advise you not to skip and participate in class. Also, the class discussions really opened your mind and we considered all points.

Great teacher , at first I was nervous because it was my freshmen year but he made class fun and easy . EVERYTHING is straight forward like you honestly can not fail. Nothing is hard . I was so mad I couldnt be in his 1102 class , but overall you are blessed if you have him

You'll write 4 papers, and at the end the total amount needs to be equal to 20 pages in total. You'll also have 4 diagnostic papers, make sure you come to class for those also. The book that he assigns you have to read it because there's discussion questions due every week. Be ready to hear him talk for majority of the time also.

His class is more a good conversation than a lecture. The reading is pretty light and the book is interesting. There are four papers due throughout the semester and you get the topics and requirements for all of them on the first day of class. Overall good class. P.S it helps that he's low key hot lol

Dr. Embry is a great instructor. He's funny and insightful. His classroom discussions and his essays aren't too laborious. He expects, at the very least, quote integration and some sort of indication that you understood what you've read and learned in his class.

Take him and he will make you a better writer. He teaches you to really think about and focus on the Quality of your writing. We read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance for the semester, it's rather boring at first but you'll end up really enjoying it if you keep on reading.

(For a Summer 2018 Class) Took him for a summer semester and he's a great guy we didn't go into much depth as if it was a normal semester but I can tell he's a great guy. Gives you all the help you need, is really fun to just talk to also. If you need help ask him. He's REALLY easy to talk to. Great guy you will not regret taking him!

Gives great feedback on papers, and is always open to discussion. It is a lecture heavy class, but with how he teaches they are actually enjoyable. Im taking him again.

Dr. Embry is an amazing professor! He really cares for his students and tries to make them understand everything that is going on. One problem is the class is VERY boring, unless you have students that are willing to debate. Every Tuesday you have discussions question due on certain chapters of a book and every thursday you work on grammar.

Dr. Embry took over our class after complications with the previous professor. He was fun and only had two papers and one presentation. They were super easy and we had in class discussions everyday. He was very open and understanding. We had quizzes everyday but he was very very very light on that grading. He's super nice.

This class has a lot of papers but Dr. Embry explains what he wants well and the topics of the essay's are discussed at length in class. His lectures are interesting and engaging. I definitely improved my writing skills by taking his class and would take him again in the future. He expects you to talk in class but as long as you read it's fine.

He really worked with you if you needed help or extra time working on essays. He always saved the last bit of class to work your papers and answer any questions you had

Dr. Embry is super chill and his class is actually pretty fun and interesting. He really wants for you to improve your writing. Make sure you talk in class though because there's a participation grade.

He's an amazing guy! He really makes you engage and think about the reading without taking it too seriously. His grading is fair and he works with you to help you improve your writing. There's a lot of non-essay writing and discussion posts, but they weren't too hard. He does grade participation, but his class is chill so it doesn't feel awkward.

I took Dr. Embrys class for dual enrollment this summer and it was not as bad as I thought. He made the class seem almost effortless; however, there were deadlines that were to be met. He is not very strict on grading, but he makes his requirements very clear to everyone. I love his class and I would love to take his class again for ENG 1102.

Professor Embry had to be one of the best "Feedback" Professor I met. Now yes I would say the feedback was great and he pointed out the critical issues of your writing and if you're like me who is "Bad" at writing but if you honestly put the effort and show that you're improving and follow his grading criteria you should pass his class with an A!!!

Dr. Embry is the best professor Ive ever had. He gives great feedback on papers, and is very understanding of your life outside of school. If you need an extension or any help, just ask, and he will most likely give you one. Make sure you do your discussion posts, and you should be fine. His essays are weighted heavily, so be sure to proofread.

Professor Embry is the BEST english prof ever, and if you get the chance to take him DO IT DO IT DO IT! 3 six page papers and a participation grade, but don't let those scare you. A month between essays, and plenty of time to read the book that goes along with those essays. Show up, write your essays, guaranteed A. lot of help to improve writing!

Fall 2021 In person lecture: Dr. Embry is amazing. I was wary at first of the essays, but you have a lot of creative freedom and he wants to hear about something you care about. Speak your mind; I wrote an essay on how much I hated the book and he loved it and gave me an A. The best professor ever.

Dr. Embry is the best teacher Ive ever had. Normally, I hate English and will do anything to avoid it, but Dr. Embry made this an awesome subject. I had him for both 1101 and 1102, and if I could take him again, I would. Hes super flexible and understanding about deadlines and is willing to work with you if you ask. He uses a clear rubric.

I was really worry before choosing his class. English has never been an easy subject for me. There are 6 essays in this class, but no worry, his rubric is really clear and he gave a lot of time for you to do. He is really caring and kind. His feedback is really helpful. If I could take his class again, I definitely will. Best professor ever!!!

English 1101 was based on the chapters he went over in class. Speak up so you can get participation grade! He really cares about his students! This class is actually easy if you do the ICW's and read his feedback. Papers are pretty much 15% each (4 essays= 60%) (20% for classwork) (20% for participation) so they are weighted heavily.

Dr Embry was a pretty good professor. His class is the textbook teaching different concepts, in class writings, essays. He is really big on clarity. He is not too bad of a grader, but like any English teacher can be biased at times. I occasionally felt as though his feedback was only disagreeing with me, otherwise feedback was very constructive.

You can tell he is really passionate about teaching English which made me more engaged in his class. I actually didn't mind going to his class, he teaches very well. Great Professor and a fun class. I have never been good at English, but I could feel myself learning in this class. You can write controversial essays if you want, and he grades them respectfully. You have to put in effort but not a hard class and expectations are more than fair.

The class I took this semester was a hybrid class, so a lot of the work felt like busy work. The assignments were hepful for the essays though. He was a great professor! Dr. Embry gave good feedback on the essays and was proactive with helping students plan for the essays. The essays all had a specific and easy to follow rubric. GO TO CLASS THOUGH!

Nice and caring, Hybrid class was just read a couple chapters and listen to a podcast then write 250 words for each. 3 essays and 1 annotated bib , he's not to harsh on grammar and all that as long as your essay isn't straight trash you will get a B or A on them. The theme is utopia, Please try to engage in the class so there isn't awkward silence.

While the professor is great I had a less-than-ideal experience with his hybrid format class. I didn't enjoy it much. There's substantial amount of work and writing involved. Nevertheless he's laid-back and achieving a good grade is attainable with effort and timely completion of assignments. It's likely that his class is more effective in person.

Honestly the best professor out here for english, not a lot of work required, easy class, have to do essay's every month but the topics are very interesting and he actually sets it to the students preference. The class also isn't really long either. Overall the best professor here.

My all-time favorite professor. I took him over the summer, so I am late writing this. He was an amazing teacher and always made the class laugh. His class was worth it. I learned so much in that class. You will not regret taking him. Still, to this day, I talk about how amazing his class was with the friends I made in it. It was a 100/10 class.

I had a wonderful experience in Dr. Embry's class! He's so wonderful, and he was very easy to work with. Although his final paper was a bit intensive and stressful, most of his assignments were pretty enjoyable. This class was based on science fiction, and he was very enthusiastic about it.
