Prof. Finley was such a dedicated teacher. He made sure he informed his students latest information regarding homework and/or tests. He made the class really fun and interesting because he's so passionate when it comes to meteorology and geography. He was a very helpful teacher and took his time to help his students. Thanks professor! : )

With prof. finley, the class was a joke. This guy gives you all the info you need to pass the class in lectures! reading the book may help also... i forgot to study for the first exam and got 100. ridiculously easy. Plus he's a fun, hip guy... TAKE THE CLASS!!!

He is the best, not to mention easy on the eyes. I had no interest in this class at first, but he made it interesting. He grades very fairly, explains everything well and will tell you if he doesn't know something. Absolutely recommend him. Take his classes!

Professor Finley, the best professor EVER. He gives you all the necessary materials to understand and pass the class. Do the work and you will for sure get an A. Finley makes his classes enjoyable and not boring...DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Excellent teacher - makes the class easy to understand

Finley is the most enthusiastic teacher I have ever met. He encourages class participation and thoroughly answers any question. He has a lot of office hours for questions as well. I recommend taking this class, especially if you love weather as much as he does.

He is very helpful. Helps you study for each of the test. Loves what he is talking about and makes it so you understand. His slides where available on moodle website easy to access.

best teacher ive taken at pierce college. super easy and really nice he uses moodle all his notes are on there so attendance isnt mandatory but you need that for movies he gives you study guides which contain answers for the tests hes the best teacher ive ever had in pierce college i highly highly recommend him to anyone super interesting class too

Excellent teacher, and he thoroughly enjoys what he's talking about. Very friendly, and willing to help you if you don't quite understand everything. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities too. Before the course, I had little interest in meteorology; his enthusiasm for the subject made me interested in it as well.

He's passionate, clear, and easy. Honestly, you're wasting your time looking him up when you should be enrolling in his class and hoping that you'll get a spot! lol

Okay seriously when I enrolled in this class, I thought I was going to be bored to tears...Professor Finley was so excited about Geography that I became excited about geography! I put his class in use EVERY DAY! Group labs, study guides, if you don't get an A it's your own fault. Great teacher, my favorite so far.

LEARN and you will PASS. memorize and you will FAIL. gives a lot of extra credit so take every single opportunity

He knows his stuff. Pay attention to what he has to say not 2 his slides so much because they will appear in moodle anyway just fill in the blanks. Test for me were a bit difficult but it was my own fault for not paying enough attention and asking 4 help. But he is a good professor. Very passionate about the weather. He loves it so much. Study hard

He's very passionate about geography and meteorology, which means he's able to explain its concepts very well. In Geog 15, you'll exclusively be doing group work, so find a partner who is willing to do their part. The labs are pretty straightforward if you pay attention in class. He gives lots of small extra credit opportunities. Love this prof!

You reaaally gotta know your stuff from geo 1 in order to understand geo 15 cuz his lectures won't show you how to do the labs. Labs are done in groups so find good partners. You really gotta know the concepts to do well on the midterm and final. its not memorizing rather actually knowing the material. Some what hard and Challenging. Hard Grader...

Took him for Geog 15 which was mainly group work all semester. Luckily I had awesome lab partners! Finley is a great professor, clear, detailed, passionate, and very helpful. He is kind of nitpicky in terms of grading, but he is still one of the best geog professors on campus. don't slack off! He's very smart,kind, young and quite the eye candy ;)

I took his honors class and received an A. It wasn't too difficult but attendance can be beneficial. Finley really loves his subject and explains the material very well. I even thought about changing my major because of his class. He is a fair grader and very helpful. Take his class!

I HATE any science class with a passion. Finley made me reconsider my hatred towards that field. He knows what he's talking about and is always eager to help.Practice tests right before exams give about 15-25% of the exam questions away. DO! the 1 point ec even if you might think it's not worth it, b/c it adds up -- trust me. TAKE HIM.

Such a fair and great teacher. He gives so many extra credit opportunities and gives you most of the questions on the test the day before. Even if your not interested in geography he makes it easy and enjoyable. As long as you come to class it's very easy to get an A. It's definitely an easy A. TAKE HIM!!!!!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! He is very clear, there are 3 midterms-one dropped, a term project, and a final. He gives out extra credit and hes so nice & helpful! Gives out practice tests before exams (very helpful) Highly recommend him! I want to take him for Geography 15, hes GREAATTT

Professor Finley is by far one of the few Professors that understands the different methods of learning and caters to all levels! He is amazing with the way he teaches! Show up to class and listen to his lecture, do class activity and respect him during lectures by not talking! He is worth the attention and worth the time!

I took this professor for Fall Semester 2014 and must say that he is amazing! His methods for teaching are excellent and everything he discusses is in the textbook and in his lecture notes. I often would ask questions after class and Professor Finley would make sure I left with the full understanding. I have a lot of respect for this professor.

Such a fair professor! Took his honors class in spring '14 and he made geography really interesting! There were 4 exams including the final and the lowest score was dropped, three group in class assignments, a couple noodle hw assignments, and extra credit!! Take him!

Interesting and difficult. Professor is a caring person, wants you to succeed. Gives extra credit opportunities. It's hard and fast-paced. Take it if you are into meteorology.

very good professor he is honestly the best. the best part is that the practice test is very similar to the test. his lectures are very clear i had no interest in the class but now when im out i can relate things to what i learned he doesn't like people being late or people on cell phone he will point this out a lot. don't really need book. )

This professor is by far my favorite professor I haven taken here at pierce. He knows how to communicate with students unlike most teachers don't really care. His lectures are fun and he likes to joke around with his lectures too. Tests are SUPER EASY. Typical routine is listen to his lecture & slides and work on group assignments.

He is amazing, I thought it would be hard class but it wasn't he gives a pretest study that some question are the same to real test and you will pass also pay attention to his review and you will pass, The work given is easy take it!

Professor Finley is a dynamic professor who exhibits enthusiasm about geography. He creates a learning environment in his classroom and has a sense of humor. He can be stern with students who try to manipulate him, so go into his class with an adult's attitude and be respectful. You'll do great.

I was fearful of taking this class as there are small areas of math which is not my strongest point. If it was not for Professor I would have failed. He respects students and expect the same. Keep mobile devices off, stay focused, do all extra credit - if you're boarderline it will push you to the next grade up- he is strict with grading.

Professor Finley is an excellent professor. He cares about his students and makes sure he explains everything. Three midterms (he drops one) , a final, and some assignments that are easy. I learned a lot from this class but takes some studying, reading the book and asking questions. He is always available for all his students.

Best teacher to take for this subject. She makes it a very easy class and actually enjoyable. There's only two projects you have to worry about besides the midterm and the final. She doesn't count attendance against you and warns you when there will be an activity you have to show up for on the syllabus.

Very good teacher. Not the most difficult, but you do have to do the work as usual. I only read a few parts of the book. He gives practice tests before each test which have 90% of the actual test answers. Pay attention to the wording as some of them are reversed or trick questions. Otherwise, his class was pretty fun. I would recommend.

Professor Finley is kind, gentle, and really strives for his students to learn. put effort and time, and you will reap what you sow. Everything from test to group assignments are either in notes, lectures and the book helps but does not use it in class.

Finley is nice but his class is hard and you really have to study for a good grade .

Dr. Finley clearly outlines what is expected, and provides detailed rubrics, so your grades shouldn't be a surprise. He provides great feedback, and is very accessible. I would absolutely take another one of his classes.

Professor Finley was great at explaining difficult concepts with visuals to help aide you in understanding the material. Write notes on every lecture and study them before the exam and you're good. I learned so much in this class.

Dr. Finley is the most professional instructor I have encountered. He is always prepared, outlines everything in class and online, and is extremely knowledgeable. Everything is posted and updated daily on canvas so you always know whats going on. The labs are not too hard and very fun. He knows how to teach effectively and does a damn good job.

His assignments are straight forward and you can always ask him to further explain something. There is a lot of extra credit offered throughout the semester. If you understand how to do the labs then you should do well on the test. He also allows you to have one full page of notes for each exam.

He's pretty straightforward with what he asks for from his students. 3 tests in total, 1 final, and has class group assignments and textbook reflections (so the book is mandatory in that sense) His tests wouldn't surprise you, everything is on his lecture is on canvas. Great professor and a great lecturer. It's amazing to see his passion

Really enjoyed professor Finley's class. He taught in a way that kept everyone interested. The class expectations are clear, so there won't be any surprises. Your grade is determined by the labs from class as well as a midterm and final. He offers plenty of extra credit in case you need a boost. Has a sense of humor, which the students appreciated.

Finley is such an amazing prof! I took Geography 1 online and Ive never taken such an organized class! He places content into four units, lasting four weeks, and each covers 3-4 chapters. He opens the work for each week on Saturday mornings. He also posts great video lectures. Has three quizzes, three midterms, and a final. Highly recommended!

The best professor I ever had. He is very organized and clear on grading. I did not do well on the exams but I still got the A in the class because of the credits for other assignments. I would definitely take this professor again

I took this professor for the Spring 2018 term, and I'm so glad that I did! He's an excellent professor and he makes everything so clear so that it's easy to do! The classes it's requires work in order to get an A but he's great at explaining everything! All the lectures that he posts and videos are excellent!

Had him for Fall 2018. My weakest subject by far is science, so I was not really thrilled about taking a science course. Nonetheless, it was a requirement and Geog 1 seemed the best choice. His class isn't difficult as long as you do your work, go to class, and do decent on the test and quizzes. Gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit.

As long as you attend class, and participate, you'll have zero issues with your grade. He gives some extra credit, but you won't need it. I honestly opened the assigned book maybe 4 times and got an A. Again, as long as you pay attention in class, you'll do fine on the tests.

He is awesome and a kind man. It isn't too hard of a class but you will learn a lot. We learned pretty cool stuff. There is Lab book where you will do a couple worksheets per week. And two exams.

I took Physical Geography 1 during the summer. Professor Finley posts lecture videos and powerpoints on canvas which are helpful. However, you should read the textbook as well. In my opinion, his tests are really hard and you will not do good if you just rely on the lecture videos. However, I respect him for his efforts.

I took Physical geography 1 with professor Finley in the Summer A session online and honestly it was a very easy class. The assignments are very easy there is quizzes that you can take until you get a passing grade and discussion assignments that are not hard. I would strongly recommend this class !

This class was a bit hard, but that makes sense for a science course. I have a better appreciation for science and for the Earth now. A very fair grader and nice guy. Definitely take the class especially if you want too learn.

One of the best professors at Pierce. He's great at lecturing and explaining geography science concepts and very smart and accomplished for a young professor. He's kind and offers lots of extra credit. Definitely take him!

As a meteorology major, I learned so much from this professor. Had no idea how much math and physics were involved with getting a meteorology degree. I am so appreciative of the time Dr. Finley took to help me get into UCLA. If you love weather and geography take him. Lots of extra credit too!

I took his online geo17, very educational yet easy course. I thought this class would be really hard and take up a lot of time, but it's easy and you can do assignments ahead of time. professor finley makes geography/meteorology very simple to understand. if you do well on the midterm you can skip taking the final.

By far the best professor I've ever had, he doesn't give too much work but when he does its understandable and easy. On some of his quizzes he gives multiple attempts. Ive never had to contact him outside of class for an assignment. I would definitely take again!

I came into this class scared, but it ended up being a very educational yet an easy course. Dr. Finley comes in full force which seems overwhelming; however, he is VERY ORGANIZED and prepared. I also thought it would be REALLY hard and take up a lot of time, but that was not the case. I could have easily gotten an A, but soooo OK with my B.

I took his class in the fall and enjoyed it. He would post lectures online and assign a quiz each week. You will have to read the textbook to understand the text. He usually takes a day to reply. There have been a few times where he would just give extra credit points without doing anything. He's really into what he teaches too.

He is a very good professor and very intelligent in his craft. I took him online, a textbook is required but he does provide recorded lectures which help with discussion posts. Do the work and you'll pass no problem.

I took this course the same semester as GEOG001 with him and taking them together really made this course that much easier. This course was fun and easy to get through. This is really a solid choice to meet your requirements. You'll pass if you just do the work.

You will need to put in the time and effort for your grade in this class. I attended office hours several times and this helped me to get an A grade. You must learn and understand the lectures if you want to pass this class, there are 3 midterms and 1 final project (Lots of extra credit). Professor Finley is very knowledgeable and inspirational.

Professor Finley's lectures on physical geography were exceptionally clear and informative. His Honors class was a valuable learning experience for me. The grading structure he implemented was well-organized, enabling me to achieve an A by adhering to his lectures and finishing the assignments.

He give extra credit if you turn in an assignment early. Every week, there are 4 assignments. 1 is really easy, 1 is a pain, 1 discussion (also a pain), and there is a midterm(26 Qs) that is easy. Usually you will be writing two paragraphs 5 sentences each. It was worth it for honors credit. He HATES AI and will take lots of measures to prevent it.

Honors class Provides simple extra credit. Took during summer so was difficult and compressed but during semester probably way easier. 3 exams, replaces lowest score. Also final essay/project presentation. Nice professor though and caring. Tests are based off lectures. Get ready to write, but all assignments are basically 2 paragraphs 5 sentences.
