DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! HE has very bad reviews from ALL students!
this professor is really bad at explaining exactly what he wants from the assignments. also you can barely hear him even when sitting in the front row!!
Pretty Nice Guy. Is Clear. I can hear from anywhere. Basically Powerpoint>Notes. Simple. A Good guy, we watched the Simpsons.
Hes ok. If you read the book and go to class, you should do fine. so far all the assignmeants have been easy, and the tests were to bad.
Mumbles incoherently & rambles on.VERY monotone.ONLY class I fall asleep in and I just can't make myself go even though I love sociology! His tests are 1/3 on material explained(ha), but his study guides aren't adequate & it's hard to get all info for test
If you read the book and go to class, you will do fine. He explains the info and gets the class involved. We watch the simpsons at least once every two weeks. Make sure you study.
He is not difficult at all. As long as you read the book the tests will be easy. Only bad thing is that he doesnt use a microphone.
Hes such a good teacher! i like him a lot..take his class!!!
He is a pretty good teacher is just that some of the material is loose. His notes don't cover every thing on the test but he says that you can find the other things in the book; I haven't found them yet.
He's sooooo hott!
I love his class. He's a very good tacher and he's entertaining.
He is soooo nice!
Very Easy, I would recommend his class to anyone, you do not even have to go to class or study to get an A. Take this class and you can learn something and boost your GPA!!!!!!
AWESOME TEACHER...explains everything very well..tests are easy if u look over the notes and scan the book...makes the class fun with activities and videos...and hes HOTTTTT!!!
Give Extensive Study Guide with all the Info. Very Amusing test questions. If you go to class and study occasionally you will do well. A nice guy that seems to be knowledgable of the information.
This is a pretty easy class. As long as you go to class and take notes, there is no way you shouldn't atleast pull a B
Good teacher, takes attendance about once a week, make sure you go. take his notes and his outline is all on the test. Pretty easy if you study.
His class is really easy as long as you show up for quizzes(the entire class gives the answers) and read over your notes for the test. He's a really nice guy as well.
Good class yumyum eat it up.
An interesting class. You watch a lot of cool movies. You have to go to class though for the quizes every week, but they are really easy.
This class is so easy. If you go and take notes you never have to read the book. He gives quizzes once a week for attendance but he tells the class the answer and he is soooo HOT!!
He cares if you go to him and ask questions about the tests. He also teaches a criminology class that is rather boring. Sociology is easy, some of the tests are hard if you don't really study the material. Do the readings and you HAVE to go to class(quiz)
Awesome teacher, very funny, easy. All you gotta do is go to class for quizzes, which are mainly towards the end of the week. :) And if you read, you'll be set.
go to class, read the wierd boxes in the book, & be sure you like the simpsons if you want to take this class. he tries to make lectures funny, which is awesome! nice guy, and if you study a little bit i'm sure you can get an A.
Read the book, the class drags, but he is amusing somethings. He breaks up the class interestingly with visuals.
Juvenile Delinquency Ford grades unfairly and the chairman believes the teachers have this right. He refused to help me. My movie reaction papers were compared with four others who had the same ideas but my grade was a B on every paper and the others an A
I liked his class very much.I learned a lot and he showed some REALLY cool documentaries. He is a bit hard when grading papers but you just have to learn to be thorough. His test are diffucult but if you come to class and read the book there are no tricks.
The dullest man alive! He graded our papers so harshly. Half wzy throught hte class he said "I guess I should have told you what I wanted", no kidding. I did fine in his class but god I hated it.
I have never hated a class as much as this one. The assignments were not clear and the readings were hard to understand. He does not explain how to do the papers well and grades them harshly. This class sucks
I took Sociology of Deviant Behavior with him and it was extremely interesting. Ford really knows the up and coming research, and all the neat websites to go to. The films he oresented were awesome and the papers really helped to study for the test.
class was very interesting and the teacher explained all of the concepts in detail and provided articles and videos to help us understand the concepts
Lectures are very dull, no textbook but articles that at times were also very boring. Papers are difficult because he does not give a clear idea of what he wants.
Dr.Ford is an okay professor, there isn't a text book, just articles, so if you come to class and pay attention you'll pass. He tells you exactly what will be on the test, so just study. He also likes to tell personal stories and class participation.
The lectures were pretty boring, and he isn't really clear on the papers. The online component was easy though. It is required that you go to class.
Dr. Ford is one of the least helpful professors I have had in my years at UCF. He does not explain clearly and thoroughly what he expects from papers and to top it off, he has the audacity to penalize for 'not following directions.' Re-consider before taking his class...trust me!!!
Dr. Ford's class is very interesting and easy to do well in if you pay attention. We write papers almost every week but there are very few tests. Dr. Ford is funny and laidback - his stories are always amusing. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!
Good teacher. Makes the class fun. Would recommend to take him.
The class was interesting but Ford was not so much.He didn't seem very interested in his subject.I wouldn't say it was a hard class or that he was a bad teacher but I wouldn't call him one of the best either. If you study and do the assignments you should get atleast a B but don't expect an easy A.
Very interesting class. The tests can be a little hard sometimes, and he seems to grade the papers pretty harsh as well.
I ended up with an 'A-' in his class. However, I have a feeling that most students who took the same class didn't receive an 'A.' There is no extra credit at all, and the class is quite a challenge. I think he wants his students to really WORK for their grades!
Liberal professor. A little boring at times. Gives 2 exams, 3 short papers. Watch 3 videos about topics of the course. No book, all material (journal articles) on electronic reserve at library. Interesting material; uninteresting format.
great teacher, i would def. recommend him. Funny and interesting but I def. recommend going to class for extra credit and extra notes for test
boring.boring.boring. don't go to class-read the book-all notes are online and he just reads those off a power point. monotoned. no excitement. find a nerd and get him to tell u when extra credit is. he just does not add anything to the class.easy and passable but just boring. it makes you not care
SUPER ANNOYING! this class is soo boring! never went to lectures pulled off a B w/ no extra credit. This class was a joke and a waste of my time. he is a bad professor and rude! Don't take him
U understand the wording on tests if u go to class & take notes on HIS definitions. Tells you what will be on test- just need to memorize. Gives EC on each test (up to 5 pts) and grades only tests. He is helpful if you ask.
At first I did not like Dr. Ford but, I was so wrong.I have much respect and really enjoyed his class. He showed some of the most pertinent videos I have ever seen.Very fair and communicated what we needed to know.Excellent.
Terrible teacher, good videos but tough on papers. No extra credits or simpathy. Sometimes hemakes terribles mistakes while lecturing that are not acceptable for a PhD.
oh jason ford..& I was really looking forward to this class, too. he makes the class sound so simple, as though it's an easy grade. then you take the test. pretty hard. then you get you paper back. if he does not like you, you will not get an A on your paper. it's that simple. also, a little monotonous considering it's such an awesome subject.
one must study for the test. His papers -hey very hard grader- ask him what he wants in the paper, then a day later ask him again! -cause if you do not, then you'll miss a topic that he did not tell you the first time.
UCF is lucky to have a professor of such caliber. Take a class with him before he moves up to another University. Smart and sexy. This guy is the complete packgage.
hes not hot, but a very good teacher. he puts his notes online, so his lectures can be boring but he likes when the class gets involved so it makes it more interesting. the two tests are kind of hard, but he lets u make them up. attendance is counted. webct quizzes are easy. the 3 video papers are easy. id definitely recommend him.

Yeah... I thought this class would be a fun elective and grade booster-- but it wasn't. He's a harsh paper grader and he has no text book, so you NEED to go to class. (I didn't mind going to class very much because I did like looking at him:) ). Anyway, I ended up with a C and I usually ace papers. Oh well!
This guy has the personality of a dead log. He is not interested in helping out students and he grades erratically. There's no book, but that's not necessarily a plus. This class could have been interesting but he killed it.
Online course... defintely need the textbook...Overall class is pretty easy the only thing is the grades are weighted(ex. modules worth 50%) which was kinda confusing...He did it on a points scale and because I suck in math!
the class was fun because the discussions were interesting. there is a paper assignment that is time consuming, but the online quizzes are very easy, and there's only one test which was open book.
Professor Ford is an awesome guy. His lectures are interesting, and he shows sweet videos. Go to class everyday and take key notes, do the extra credit, and study before the tests. If you do that, an A will be no prob.
Go to class! Take notes! Don't just write down what is on the power point slides, you need to write down how he expanded on all of the things he talks about. It was a good class, I got a B.
his personality really sucks and he makes class extremey boring.... and his class is hard work too- whoever says it's easy is a lying freak!!!!
Professor is extremely easy, I missed a couple of classes and sign-in sheets so I got a B+..............Go to class and you'll make the grade you desire.
Honestly, just read the book people. It's as simple as that. Most of the time going to class merely reinforces the book's material. The night before review your textbook, skim his chapter notes, and read over the study guide. He even offers an extra credit assignment after each test to boost your grade. Four tests total; final is not cumulative.
He is a very good teacher, you just have to pay attention!! READ THE BOOK!!!!! It helps greatly! Watch movies a lot. Pretty entertaining!!! Class Recommended! (Took this class summer semester)

pretty boring class, it was hard to stay awake. Except when he showed a movie, that was the best part of the class. the study guide is your best bet if you want to pass the exams. the extra credit helps alot too.
He is a cool teacher, but the subject was so boring. I really did not like the book we used. It just made the class even more boring. Overall, I feel bad for anyone looking for a career in this subject.
Dr. Ford is very helpful and precise in what he expects from his class. His tests were multiple choice, and he gave us a study guide, which really helps. He also provided extra credit opportunities through short essays. He also loves to watch movies and tv shows in his class and they're funny...I'm taking him again this year.
Hes a good professor, you will enjoy the class if you are even a bit interested. He shows some cool videos and the exams are not that hard, you do need to study for them cause they are tricky but if you read your notes and his review handout you can be fine, recomend him definetly
great teacher! what he teaches is really interesting. the videos shown in class are always interesting and complement the material. book is necessary in the first few chapters (the hardest material) and sometimes necessary towards the last chapters. study guide available. his tests can be a bit tricky with facts needed but not in the study guide.
His tests are practically word for word from his notes. His lectures are really boring but sometimes he shows really cool movies or video clips that clarify the material. The material is easy in its self and he makes it even easier. Go to class and you'll have at least a B. You dont really need the book. Theres a LOT of extra credit too. Easy A.
first, he is NOT hot. okay. so, his tests involve a lot of reading from the book, notes are easy to understand but you need to read in order to pass the tests, which i didn't think i needed to do. he gives extra credit papers. also, show up to class because he sometimes gives points just for being there! got to watch south park and the simpsons! =)
This is a typical Gen Ed class. You go, he talks, you read the book, study for the tests, get an A, forget you ever took the class. Ford is nice enough but u do have to go to class to get a good grade.
Very boring! I fell asleep everyday. I went to his office a couple times and he seemed uncomfortable. I got a C but I never read the book. But I had a friend that read and also got a C. There are 4 tests and a essay. I thought it was gong to be an easy A, but I day dream alot so pay attention do better then I did. : )
Dr. Ford does his best to discourage interest in Sociology as a career field. Watching paint dry would be more stimulating, enjoyable and fulifilling than spending another moment in his presence. Go to class, take notes. The tests come from the study guides and the study guides are from the notes. Caffiene is an absolute MUST.
While I had absolutely no interest in Sociology before or after taking the class I must compliment Professor Ford on his ability to be neutral in class. You can tell that, simply by the nature of him being a Sociologist, that he is of liberal political affiliation he is fair and open minded in presenting both sides of the story. I recommend him.
Overall I enjoyed this class, he showed lots of interesting videos and was really helpful, but the class can be very dry sometimes. To get a good grade in the class I would attend class, a great deal of his questions come from the power points and lectures. Also know your vocabulary and do the quizzes.
This class was not as interesting as I had hoped it would be. The assignments and quizzes were mostly easy. However, you really need to read the book as his notes do not quite cover everything. Finally, the final is worth 40% of your grade, which is a little intimidating.
I did enjoy the content of this class, however, Professor Ford was a little boring. The TA is really harsh on grading some of the assignments. The final is worth 40% of your grade. I pulled an 85 in the class, so it's not too bad. Just attend class and read the chapters and you will be fine.
Approx 10 quizzes. Weekly discussion assignments. 1 final exam. Pretty easy & interesting class!
Great Professor! He is a fair grader, if you attend class and take the notes you will easily pass the tests! On papers you must add that extra bit in order to get the A but overall don't miss class. He is straight forward and everything on the tests comes from notes! I Highly recommend him!
I have enjoyed this class. Final exam is 50% of grade (open note/book). Online quizzes throughout semester-answers are all plainly in book. You can tell he knows his stuff but doesn't LOVE to teach. He is a researcher. He's kinda funny sometimes. I am taking him again for 2 classes next semester.
Taught at an intro to sociology level. While many may find him to be okay, I observed overt bias toward older students and law enforcement personnel. He really taught nothing substantial, yet graded very hard. Very monotone and acts uninterested. I do not recommend him.
First time teaching the course. Powerpoints were straight from the text, which I needlessly bought. Monotone and seemed uninterested in the course. Would not take him again.
Another loser professor on the UCF payroll. The guy never responded to emails. I basically taught myself the class. He seems to be lazy. This is a common problem with UCF professors.
Dr. Ford is extremely savvy in his field but it's obvious that he doesn't really LOVE to lecture. He was helpful and his class is fairly easy. I recommend- just remember that he does LECTURE. Sometimes he makes jokes to lighten the mood a little. Within the Soc dept, he's great. Freshman- if you're lazy... stay away. Easy A with work.
Pretty easy class. Just show up and you will most likely get an A. He gives extra credit. There are 3 exams and 3 papers on movies. Probably one of the better GED I've taken
I am a psych major and I thought this course was easy, as long as I did my work. I think Jason Ford is a great professor, at least for an online class. He knows his material and his exams aren't hard. The text was an easy read, so I read it and got an A on the exam. He was prompt when responding to my emails.
Never got the book. Went to class occasionally but he posts all notes online. Many documentaries were shown, only had to write on a few. Exams were easy. He's laid back in all senses, his humor works for college. Some find his teaching lazy but the material isn't hard for him to give more work. He's hot in a dad who coaches lil league kinda way.
Watch films and write 4 out of 7, 1 page papers. Extra credit given for showing up to class. Interesting, but a bit boring
Easiest class you will ever take. If you are a sociology major or minor and need a GPA booster - take this! You watch one documentary a week, with a one page paper due every week. No midterm, just a final.
I wouldn't call this the easiest course ever, but an "A" is certainly attainable. No book. He shows 12 films and requires you to write on 8 of them. If you have perfectionistic tendencies like me, you may get a little frustrated as no one scored a 100% on any paper (besides the one the GTA graded). Good sense of humor and laid back. Attractive too.
I wouldn't call this the easiest class ever, but an "A" is certainly attainable. No book. One-page paper on 8/12 films. If you have perfectionistic tendencies like me, you may get frustrated as there wasn't a single 100% (besides the one his GTA graded). Good sense of humor. Laid back. Attractive.
Very straight forward class. Super interesting subject matter. 3 Easy 50 question multiple choice exams and your choice of 4 out of 6 one page papers on movies we watch in class.
Even though for my grade in the class, I find this professor really good. He cares for his students and wants to help. His class lectures are off his powerpoints so they can be dragging at times. The course material itself is off chapters in the course book. I found the test really tough. What saved me from an "F" was his essays. Would take again.
Jason Ford is a great professor and he cares for his students. He will do anything to help anybody all you have to do is ask. His classes consist of 2 test, 3 film essays and a paper. His lectures are straight from his powerpoints and can be long. I found his test really hard. Only reason I did not get an "F" was because of his writing assignments.
There are only 3 tests worth 200 points which makes a huge impact on your grades. There are 6 essays that I found were easy to complete but were graded a little tough. So if your not a good essay writer you will need to step up your game with the essay's and do all 6 of them. The lowest 2 grades are dropped on the essay's. The films were good.
Exams worth 200 points EACH, lectures are so boring just reads power points. No class work what so ever. 6 papers only takes 4. GOOD LUCK
His lectures can be really boring because he has a monotone voice. Only 3 short movie papers, a 2 page summary and 2 exams. He's a tough grader on the movie papers and it's really annoying. I thought this class would be an easy A, but it looks like I can only get a B now.
Thought he would be a boring professor at the beginning but my opinion was changed as the semester progressed. Laid back teacher who is honest and straight-forward with a good sense of humor. Interesting material covered, pulled from relevant and often hilarious sources. Overall easy class. Study for the tests and you'll easily pass.
Prof. Ford was really chill and funny. He has like four exams and a few films that you write single page essays. The subject matter is interesting and I would recommend him. I didn't buy the textbook. If you go to class he covers everything that'll be on the test (which are online - except the final).
Super laidback and is kinda more focused on his research than teaching. TA grades most assignments and he doesn't really want to regrade anything the TA grades. You watch a few films and write a couple papers, all under 500 words. Super easy class
Should get an award for making an easy class unnecessarily difficult. Took him for Sociology of Deviant Behavior online. Don't know where a good chunk of the exam questions came from and he will nit pick a 250 word paper.
I took this class online for a Summer A semester it isn't hard but be prepared to write as long as you keep up with all the writing assignments it's pretty easy to get an A he is kinda picky and doesn't make much sense in his grading kind of contradicting in his comments/grading on written/discussion assignments just try and its an easy A or B
I took this course for the summer semester and it was honestly the class I hardly had to worry about. All we did was watch funny videos relating to controversial social problems, and commentate on it (within reason) and we only had two exams (which weren't bad at all as long as you use your resources). I totally recommend this professor! :)
Cool guy but no nonsense, if you do what you're supposed to, read what you need to for the discussions and writing assignments, and look like you put thought into your responses, you'll get an A. He really makes you explore your own opinions and beliefs about the material which helps it stick. One assignment a week and 3 exams, very fair.
Professor Ford designed his class to have 6 discussion questions, 3 writing assignments that you have to find peer review articles to support your explanation, and 2 exams that contain questions for 5 chapters each. You must have the book and constantly read to keep up. overall, not so bad of a class.
Took him for both SOP3520 and SOP3530 this semester. Both were fairly easy and have interesting material. I'd recommend him and I'd take him again.
Professor Jason Ford... gives a few exams not hard, you can find everything in the textbook. However, for the assignments, he can be a tough grader. You need to ask him for the feedback because sometimes he doesn't give it to you, and you are confused why he took out so many points when I responded to whatever he was asking for in the assignment.
The quizzes are alright. He uses the textbook but he also gives you notes so I didn't buy it
