Jason is a good teacher, he is cool and somehow flexible. His exams start little hard , but if he find that the overall average of the class is low he makes his tests easy. usually he has quizes every 3 chapters and Exam at the end of each unit. i really recommend this teacher :)

Interesting class.... he is a hard grader on tests but the assignments are cake. Was literally 2 points from an A in the class, so I was disappointed with my B.

Great Teacher! I took both ENVS 101 online and 102 which is the field trip portion/lab. I learned a lot in both classes and got A's. He listens to the students and takes into consideration their thoughts and ideas. By the way, on the field trips for 102, you can bring your friends! That was fun.

good teacher and very informative. came in a skeptic but ended up liking the class. The tests are difficult but he grades on a curve and final paper is worth a lot of points and makes up for them. The highest grade i got on a test was a mid b and still got an a. requires some studying. i would reccomend him.

Took the class online. Since it was an 8wk class we had an exam every wk. Not a class you can slack off on. Decent amount of work but nothing too difficule. Must read textbook in order to do well on exams. Very nice person who is willing to help you if needed. Answers back email quick. I would definetely recommend Professor Hlebakos.

Best teacher I have ever had. He is really funny and he makes every class interesting. I loved going to his class and I wish he taught more subjects. He is really passionate about the things he teaches and really draws you into it. If you go to MSJC taking this teacher is a must.

Super easy class. As long as you show up for the lab or are in a group that will let you copy, you will get points. The tests are hard, I don't study for them and usually get 64%. The field trips are easy points and he does have extra credit opportunities.

Took his botany class. He majored in botany so it's obvious he's an expert in the subject. His class isn't that difficult but sometimes it's a lot of work. There are a lot of labs and that's where the majority of the points comes from so make sure to attend and turn those in. He is really helpful and really good looking, so that always helps!

Dr. Hlebakos is an awesome teacher! He always makes class super interesting. Attendence isn't mandatory, but it helps with understanding the material if you're in class.

Great instructor! I had him last semester and took him again this semester. Some of the labs are a little long but over all the class is easy. The tests though are hard so really study for them. His really loves what he teaches. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Hlebakos is an awesome instructor he is always on topic always answers questions promptly. This class requires a lot of reading if you want to pass with a decent grade. His exams are extremely hard if you do not read the book. & he gives lots of exams

He is a nice, understanding, and brilliant professor. his lectures are rich & engaging. I really enjoyed his envs101H course so I took him for bio144 the next sem. I learned more in his classes than in any other that year. He is very laid back but don't be fooled. His tests are the hardest I have ever had. Lets you use them on the final though :)

He's a great teacher, and he's very easy going. If you make an effort and show that you understand his material then you get a good grade. I would definitely recommend him.

Hlebakos is super cool!!! He is a laid back professor who cares about his students and is really in love with the subject he teaches. I took both his envs 101 and 102 classes and both classes were eye opening. In 101, Study Hard for the tests by reading all textbook chapters. No textbook was required for envs 102 Lab; just attend the fieldtrips

This has been one of my favorite classes! Prof H. is very easy going &helpful. Although we are constantly using the book (lectures, tests) he uses a lot of outside info. to really get into depth with the topics. We saw a few documentaries that were very interesting. His class will leave you with a different perspective about the world we live in.

Dr. Hlebakos was very organized and gave you plenty of help/preparation for tests/labs. Gave you tips and always responded quickly. I definitely recommend this teacher to anyone. He did have at least 2 to 4 assignments every week (8 week class) but the assignments were not hard at all. Mainly needed to use observation and opinion. :)

Great professor. Took the 8 week online course, just be sure to do the readings he assigns because his exams are straight from the text. There is discussion boards and an exam every week, but the material is pretty interesting and you learn a lot. Also, he offers extra credit at the end to help boost your grade. It's an easy physical science class.

AWESOME PROFESSOR! His lectures always are comprehensive and relate back to society. A real inspirational professor with a great sense of humor. This class made me want to become a vegetarian! Show up and take notes, his lectures are very interesting and pay attention to the movies. Really wants everyone to get an A!

Took this 8-week course, and it gave me more of an insight of our environment, even though it is not my interest, the professor made it more interesting. Each week was a discussion, followed my online assignments and a weekly quiz. Nothing too hard, just have to stay on top of it. If you're falling behind, he offers extra credit!

Mr. Hlebakos , is an amazing professor . I am not a science major taking the class for transfer credits, but even if your major does not involved botany there is so much you can learn and apply to life . His lectures are amazing and he gives extra credit more than other professors ,which is really sweet. Also, reading is VERY important.

Hlebakos is extremely informative and his expertise in the subject he teaches shows when he lectures. It is important to turn in ALL work & do not fall behind for it is easy with all the workload. At the same time he he does all that he can in order to help as long as you are putting in effort.

I loved this class! I was scared to take an 8 week science class online but he used canvas and made it super interesting! I learned so much and he actually made me think 2x about my actions and the enviornment. He graded on a curve. And using canvas made the class super organized. Grades quickly and replies to emails same day!

Easy class. He uses CANVAS and it is extremely helpful in keeping track of your grade. You're given 2 tries on quizzes and you receive the best score out of both attempts. Just make sure you do the work!

Pay attention to the lectures and read the textbook! His exams can be pretty difficult but he curves the grade so that really helps. Really funny and caring guy. I definitely recommend this class.

Dr. Hlebakos was an amazing ENVS 101 professor. He was very clear in what he wanted done, and very clear about the assignments. There is one discussion board, one quiz and one test a week, they are very manageable. He is very flexible and communicates with you in a timely manner if you have any questions. Great guy, I highly recommend this class.

I have taken this professor in both his environmental course and his botany lab course. He is a true inspiration and connects with students unlike most. The absolute best teacher this campus offers. I reccomend him heavily if anyone needs their science credits. Just amazing

He's a good man. I took him for Environmental Science 101. He doesn't give much homework, but when he does, it's not too difficult. However, his tests are a bit challenging. You have to read the book and take good notes in lecture. In all, he's a good professor and it's not a hard course to pass.

Amazing class! I truly enjoyed taking this class. I learned so much and it awoke a little environmentalist in me who wants to be a better consumer! Definitely a class I actually took a lot away from. Loved his ENVS 101 hybrid online class. I never felt overwhelmed. He worked with me when there was a hurricane where I was living & said we could find a way to make up any assignments together. He was so caring and the class was actually fun. Every week there is a discussion, lectures, a quiz, a test, and every other week a project is due. Easy A

Hlebakos is great, but make sure to pay attention to him and the book. He applies what you learned into the exams he creates so its not just mindless memorization (he actually wants you to take something away from the class). He helps when asked but he wont know where to improve on if you dont approach him! Make sure to study & put in effort.

Lots of reading but as long as you do the work you can easily pass this class. All questions are from the textbook and some of the questions are not terms but more certain scenario to make sure you understood the text

One of my favorite professors at msjc and Im not a science person. Took Environmental Science to meet a requirement but it ended up being a life changing class. I learned so much and loved his teaching style.

If you do the work and try youll pass this class I ended up getting a B but if u worked a little harder I couldve gotten an A. I took his online class lectures are boring you have to read the PDF version I prefer when the professor speaks in the lectures but other than that its not a hard class.

Dr. Hlebakos is AMAZING. I took this as a hybrid course , I was a little overwhelmed at first because of the heavy work load a a practice test and exam every week along with a paper every other week and discussion board. As long as you do not procrastinate you will be fine. You do not need the textbook and he is awesome at getting back to you.

If you want to learn about our environment and climate change this is the class to take. Love this guy take him hes awesome!

I really enjoyed his class. For the most part, all you have to do is show up to class and do the labs and go to the field trips and you'll pass. All of the labs are in group wok and there is a small presentation but it's fairly easy. If you do not show up for the labs you wont get credit.

The environment is something that we should all care about, but the class is kind of boring. I took the class because it was a requirement. Still, the class could have been much worse. I would take the class again. Easy enough and you won't regret it. Great professor who only wants to see his students succeed.

I'm no STEM major, but I loved his ENV101 class! Dr. H is helpful, knowledgeable, and accessible. The class isn't too difficult or intimidating but I learned a lot.

Awesome professor! Highly recommend! He does class field trips, class projects, and does lots of hands on learning. Hes easy to understand and very easy going if you need lots of clarification or extra help. Not a lot of homework or assignments, but the work he does give is definitely important and useful.

He is by far my favorite prof at MSJC. I've now had him for BIOL 144 and ENVS 101 (both online) and I want to be him when I grow up. His lectures are brief but to the point and you learn so much. He encourages you to open your mind to the long term impacts of our actions and the plant bio class is like a continuation of ENVS 101.

This Professor is a really good professor and loves what he teaches. The class is really easy to pass, each week you will have one quiz and one test, also a discussion or a writing assignment. You do not have to read the book but it definitely helps. He licks his assignments on the due date so he doesnt accept late work. Take him, you wont regret

Dr. Hlebakos is one of the best professors I have came across. His lab class is easy when it is in person. I took the online version which was his first time due to the pandemic. There is more work than expected for a 1 unit class but it is super easy. You get a lab kit to take home and it is all very easy. Must take for lab!

Great class and very interesting. Very clear grading criteria. Class was online with video lectures then test prep PowerPoints. Assignments are simple and do not require much work. I got a lot out of this class.

Very cool prof that is passionate about the course. Reading is very light and manageable with one assignment (DB or quiz alternating every week) and one exam each week. Keep up with the lectures/ reading and it's pretty easy.

Dr. H is the coolest professor I've had. The labs were fun and the pacing for this course was just right. He is relaxed about late work and is available outside of class. His demeanor makes him approachable and he's a bit of a jokester. I highly recommend taking one of his classes.

Took him for EnvSci and PlantBio as a student with a highly limited, homeschooled Christian science background. He is laidback, enthusiastic, funny, will explain things twenty times, and generally cares so much about his students. I ended up transferring to Berkeley to study bio, and I'm not sure I would have made it if it weren't for Dr. Hlebakos!

Dr. H was truly one of the most chill professors I've ever had. I took his ENVSCI class for credit and it was actually interesting. He made sure to bring up current issues in the world with his lectures, which made the class feel more connected and interesting. He also responds super quickly and is understandable with situations you might be having

Professor Hlebakos is by far the BEST professor I have had so far at MSJC. His class is interesting and engaging, especially for an online course. The research articles and videos for the assignments are informative and interesting, and never too long. He responds quickly and is always willing to help. Really easy class and I learned a lot. You have all semester to do the final but to be honest it only took me a few hours. He even accepted a few late assignments I had. I took his ENVS 101 class fully online. One of the easiest classes I have taken at MSJC. He makes his assignments clear and easy to understand. I was able to get an A in this class. I recommend people to take this class to met general education requirements.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. H, he cares and is a great Professor. he doesn't like giving homework and his lectures are quick and to the point with all the info you need given in excess. He is also really supportive and knows all the amazing resources the school offers. he would take the class to the quad when SGA had free food too.

By far my favorite and best course ive ever taken at MSJC. I took his online course and it was so easy and I really enjoyed it. He was very open minded and didn't expect you to know anything. I took this class my spring semester and I truly enjoyed his class. The workload was manageable, and in his lectures you can tell that he loves what he's teaching. Throughout the semester, there was a discussion post every three weeks, a lab or assignment due almost every week, and an exam approximately every five weeks. Overall, great professor!

This is my second class I have taken wih him as the professor. Do the modules and you'll get a good grade. If something comes up and you need extra time communicate he's not scary but very understanding!
