He is a great professor.I would recommend every one to take him. He is so helpful. He can even help you with your labs. And forget to mention that he is so funny. I have enjoyed his class.
I personally did not like this class at all! Although he is a funny professor, I found his lectures boring; mainly because I did not like chemistry much. His test are semi hard; if you are already good in chemistry, then this class should be easy for you, but if you struggle with chem, then I suggest taking a different teacher.
Jones is great if you have a background in chemistry. If not, you may have to put forth more effort, but it's still doable. His lectures don't cover everything, so you need to use the book as well. He's really funny! He's British, so he has a bit of a dry yet corny sense of humor. And he'll explain stuff if you ask.
Dr. Jones KNOWS his stuff. He'll lecture what he can and will gladly answer any questions. His dry humor keeps you in touch with pre-lab lectures and he's always on standby to make sure our labs are performed safely and accurately. Would definitely recommend.
I would only recommend him for lab, not lecture. He's very helpful and willing to explain things in lab. I feel his tests are too hard in his lecture class. I study for hours, and go to tutoring sessions. I still struggle with all tests. At this point, I'm hoping for a low B or C. He doesn't curve any tests or grades till the end of the semester.
I really like this teacher as a person, I have him for chem 1151 Lecture only, and hes funny and I enjoy going to his class, but his tests are really hard. Hes funny and nice, but I study for weeks and still only make a high C to a low A. I have A's in all my other classes and aced honors chem in high school.
Good professor. Gives practice questions out of the book which really help Posts practice tests online for each exam and sometimes the questions are even identical on the test. Tests still are pretty tough but doable if you study. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone.
I did not care for his teaching techniques. He believes that a C is a good grade, but with some majors that just wont do. I spent hours going over the given material each day, but his tests were really hard. I did not do well.
Awesome lab instructor. Extremely helpful. I would recommend him for Lab class, but not for lecture class. Lab easy/ Lecture class really hard.
Thought he would be good because of his reviews. Not the case. His way of notes is by taking a blank piece of paper and rewriting the textbook without even explaining. Do not take him if you want to pass chemistry.
Highly recommend for lab! I enjoyed his lab class for 1152. He is very easy going and doesn't grade lab reports or notebooks harshly. I think nearly all of us made high A's on all the lab reports. He is such a nice, helpful, and funny guy, Take him for lab if you can!
Jones is super sweet and helpful. If you go to him, he will help you with no questions asked. He is very knowledgeable about the material, but his tests are hard. I've studied my butt off for all the tests and never made higher than a 75. He's given a couple of extra credits.
I've had him for 1151 lecture and for 1152 lab. If you get to chance to to take him don't hesitate he is very helpful, and sweet. He makes the lab so fun and not stressful at all. However, for the lecture you have to worn hard for your A.
Dr. Jones is a very willing to help in any way possible. He teaches from examples straight from the book and writes down every single word he says so attendance is not mandatory. His test are difficult, but you will get the hang of it as the semester goes along. I would recommend him.
Professor Jones is the sweetest professor you'll have in college. I love this man, and he is so willing to help his students. He genuinely cares, and I fee like his teaching method is very helpful. I had him for 1151 and wish I could have had him for 1152.
He's a very nice man but dont take his class. Wasted $$ buying the book. Test were SUPER hard & his teaching methods are useless. Didn't cover 2 chapters that were on final. Gives slight curve. I recommend getting in a study group from day 1 in order to pass. Accent is kind of hard to understand. Oh & no syllabus is given so its hard to follow him
He's okay. I hated his teaching methods. I never went to class because it was useless. All of his handwritten notes were online. He does give a study guide that is somewhat similar to the test. Overall, he's easier than most 1212 professors but I didn't learn much from him.
Tests are very different from study material, and he has a very thick British accent making it easy to mix up words. Better have a backround in other chemistry classes before taking him.
Dr. Jones is a fairly good teacher compared to the other gen ed chem professors. I recommend studying from the book as well as his notes (not much difference from the book). Study guides are set up like the test but only a few questions will be seen on the actual test. Material on tests are difficult so be prepared to work hard
Lectures are rather useless, so you will have to study on your own. He puts up all of his handwritten notes online. Passionate teacher, and willing to help.
Jones is a nice guy, however he isn't the best teacher. Lectures are pointless since he occasionally goes off on a tangent and tells awkward jokes that no one understands. To get an A all you have to do is read the chapters since he teaches straight from it. He takes attendance and in class "quiz" questions through a 20 dollar app called top hat.
Sweet professor! He is always willing to help. His lectures are straight from the book. He doesn't usually cover everything in a chapter so I would go to class to see what sections he wants you to know and he takes attendance and asks questions on an app. Like any other organic chemistry class, you get the grade you deserve. You gotta study!
Jones is a nice guy, but his lectures are useless, so don't bother going unless you enjoy sleeping in auditorium chairs. Just study from the book on your own and you should do alright.
A fantastic teacher! Best one I've had and probably the best one out there! Goes out of his way to help students who need the help! Makes chemistry "easier" bc it is a very hard course in general (for me). Hilarious great personality! Would take him over and over again. Definitely recommend him. I did better in his class than in chemistry 1 !
Jones was my favorite professor this semester. I struggle with Chemistry, just like many others do, but his tests were straight forward and passable. You have to work for your grade. Read the book, that is where he gets all of his material and examples. He is sometimes confusing in his delivery of the material. DO HIS PRACTICE TESTS!!!
I LOVE professor jones!!! If you're scared about taking organic chemistry, then he will make it easy and straight to the point. Take him!!!!!!
Uses handwritten notes on a projector instead of powerpoints. Very unclear. Goes out of order sometimes. My chem class was way behind compared to other classes, which makes lab harder to follow. Sometimes he would tell us that he had been completely wrong after teaching an entire section. Attendance is graded. Great guy, awful teacher.
Jones is a nice guy, but he shouldn't be teaching. His notes are posted online prior to class, but he just reads them to you. Attendance is mandatory and he tracks it through an app that costs you $20.
Professor Jones is awesome! I dont know why he has any bad reviews. Lab with him was so fun because he is so chill and he helps you understand the chemistry behind everything. He will do work with you. His English accent is cool too.
Great professor. I took ochem with linenberger and withdrew. I retook ochem again with this professor and pulled a B in this class. he also has exams that were similar to his practice exams. He also curves. if you receive a 90 or above, you dont need to take the final. Definitely recommend this professor!!!
Professor Jones is not the best professor at all, but his tests are not hard study the practice tests he posts online and you will be fine. Don't forget to go to the SI sessions because that is where most of your learning will actually come from since he tends to read directly out of the book. Don't forget to ready the chapter before coming to clas
Professor Jones is a great guy, really funny, but not the best teacher. However he posts test reviews that are exactly like the tests. My only complaint is that he teaches slow so when we got to the final there were 3 chapters he hadn't taught us yet that were on there. (He curved it though).
I don't recommend unless you have time to teach yourself the material. He does not teach at all. The only reason I got an A was because he gave a huge extra credit and dropped the lowest grade. Tests are similar to the practice exams but I feel like I've learned nothing.
Jason is the GOAT. He is very well educated but he isn't the best at transmitting all the information he has in his head. With that being said, he has a sense of humor and is willing to work with you as long as you choose to work with him. The class is tough, but if you put in the work, do the practice exams, and work with him you can make an A.
Jones is a good guy and he knows his stuff but he isnt the best at explaining. He just reads from an online textbook so its hard to learn the material. But if you do the hw and the practice tests before each test then you have the potential to make an A. You have to put in work but he helps you by giving extra credit and dropping lowest test.
Probably one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. He's super funny, and will assist you when you need help. As long as you go to lab and try, you should make an A.
Mr. Jones is AWESOME! He helps with any questions you have on the labs. He is also very understanding. I had forgotten to bring in my lab report and he let me turn it in for the next class period. Would highly recommend.
easy grader. helpful. British accent.
Jones is a goofy guy. O Chem is hard, but he lightens the mood with his jokes. He was always willing to help figure out lab questions. He gave me all A's on lab worksheets. Only thing I would focus on is your lab notebook (he likes neatness and good conclusions), and memorizing procedures for the lab final because it was hardest part of this class.
He is a good lab professor but not for the lecture. Be ready to put in hours of studying outside of class to fully understand the topics he is talking about. He can be disorganized at times. His exams are tough and the final is ACS which he gives a curve on.
Jones was SUCH a great professor! Very personable, helped out in lab, and made everything fun and easy to understand! I took him over the summer and even with the cramped schedule, he was fantastic. Easy grader, just turn it in and you'll do fine! Quizzes before each lab, SDS sheet due mid-semester, and a final at the end. TAKE HIM for an easy A!!!
Mr. Jones was a GREAT lab prof. For 1211 lecture, he was unorganized and it made following his lectures and succeeding on his tests very difficult. I would not take him for lecture. But, for lab his disorganization worked in my favor because he pretty much just hands out 100's on lab reports when other teachers are very specific with grading.
This class is pretty tough. He does not go over concepts or material during class; only math related problems. Provides you with notes on D2L but tests are pretty tough. I would not take his lecture if I had it to do over.
prof jones is a good guy he tries to make you laugh in class and he will work with you, but he does not cover all the material you need for test. so get ready to teach yourself I love chemistry and this class has been very hard
Professor Jones is a nice guy, and funny but for his lectures it is in your best interest to study the most difficult forms of a problem outside of class. I mean study hard to almost a detriment because the test is very challenging. Not to mention the strict time limits for the test, add this all together and good luck! This is a tough tough class.
Do not, and I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT take his lecture. He does not cover the material in a way that is easy to understand (or he doesn't cover it at all). If you want to pass and keep your GPA in good standing, don't take his class. It is not worth the stress. If you like to read and have a decent chemistry background, go for it.
Fun guy to watch instruct. He know's his material and is willing to work with the students who are obviously putting forth an effort. He wants the best for his students and is willing to meet them where they are at. It is important to understand the time spent in lecture is to be used as a soundboard to review the material learned outside of class.
This class was a struggle all semester. He was not great at helping students understand certain problems. ACS was hard (but he curves since everyone fails) because we didn't finish all the chapters. I had to put in HOURS of outside work just to get the grade I wanted in this class (read book+Clutchprep+practice). Nice guy, just bad at lecturing.
He is a nice dude but this class has been a struggle for me. He doesnt explain things the best and I often had to teach myself the content. If you are pretty decent at chem then its worth a shot because the tests are multiple choice.
Most carefree guy I've ever met. He grades the worksheets accordingly, but will let you turn anything in late if you ask. If you ask for help on a lab he will basically just do it for you and tell you the answer. He's a little goofy and odd and talks about politics a lot, but it was the easiest lab I've ever taken. So nice, a great choice.
Had him for both lab and lecture. Is pretty hilarious, really flexible and caring! 10/10 would take him again for Gen Chem 2 given the option.
Super funny british bloke. Show up and take notes, do the HW and it's a fantastic time. No quizzes, just 3 tests and a final. All of which are easy if the concepts are studied a bit beforehand.
Jones is the man. I wouldn't suggest taking him for lecture though. He is a nice guy and the tests are fair but he just read from the book. His lab on the other hand is a very easy A and I would suggest taking it.
Easy lab class, just show up and you will make an A. He doesnt really grade the labs so you will always get an A if its complete. Class almost always ends an hour early and the lab quizzes dont really effect your overall grade so dont worry if you fail a bunch of them. Also just do your lab note book he doesnt checked it that thoroughly.
Doesnt understand many of the topics hes teaching.
I took Professor Jones for Chemistry 1211, Professor Jones is a nice enough guy, but be prepared to really teach yourself. He doesn't go over all the information that's on the test and really doesn't act like his classes are important to him or like he cares about his students. Would not recommend.
I would not recommend this class. When it comes to a lab, the majority of people want to jump into the experiment and begin right away. He arrives right as the class starts, and it takes him like 15-20 minutes to set up. At the end of class, he spends 30-40 minutes talking to students about the most random topics that don't relate to the class.
Best lab professor I have had. Super easy to do his labs and took less than an hour for most of the labs. He is definitely a talker and enjoys talking to his students. There was an SI in the class which also helped a lot. All lab reports are done online. Quizzes online. This was the only lab i actually enjoyed so definitely take him if you can!!
If you want an easy A, take him. Trust. Very nice teacher who is always there to help. I had him for a late class and I was always the last one there, never rushed me out and always waited for me the finish. Very understanding about LabFlow doesn't always correlate with lectures.
He is a good professor but he does not really check your lab reports I guess bc I had a late class so idk. But try to make sure your reports are right so that you get a good grade on your reports when you have to submit it! But the class isnt bad or hard its average to me. You can do it! Make friends with ppl around you too! They come in handy.
It was an easy lab to do, all you gotta do is show up for each lab, do the experiments which are simple, and do the worksheets & notebook. He makes the work easier as he provides more insight on how to do the problems and is a fair grader especially for the notebooks. If you take him it'll be an easy A.
I love him! Easy A if you come to class and do your lab report. Everything is on lab flow except the final (in person). I pass the class with a 98%. Do the surveys for extra credit. The easiest lab teacher I've had. Ask him for help. Very helpful during the lab. I love him so much. We have lab every other Thursday for the Spring of 2022.
He is a caring guy who will try his best to help you if you show effort. If you follow his basic rules, he will, in return, work with you on your grade and assignments. Overall easy A if you show up and do the work.
Can waste some time before labs but not too bad on that front. Very helpful if you have any questions during a lab. Show up, do the labs, and you'll do fine. Don't underestimate the final which is very dependent on some of the lecture topics as well as lab stuff.
the best lab professor I had so far, he's great. You can make a 60 on the final and still pass with an A
TAKE HIM FOR LAB!!! This guy is an easy grader. To get an A: go to all labs, do pre lab quiz's, turn in post lab worksheets, get above a 60 on the final (EASY). He is a really easy grader that gave me an A on everything i turned in when a lot was B.S.
Professor Jones was my favorite professor I have had in college so far. He explains the Labs in depth, and always walks around to help. He grades very quickly and lightly, and still provides optimal feedback. If you miss a lab or forget to print the lab report, he is lenient on turning in work.
I would not take this class again. He spends so much time talking to students about the most random things that have nothing to do with the lab we did. It honestly became frustrating because I would go up for him to check my notebook and he would spend so much time asking me random things rather than checking my work. Doesn't check for accuracy.
Easy going lab professor, If you need help just ask him. He'll walk you through it if you need him to. W teacher. Easy class just attend.
If you want to enjoy taking chem lab, take professor Jones. NO QUESTION! He's hilarious and a very good person to talk to. He'll walk you through any questions you have if you aren't so strong in chem lecture like I was. Just show up and you will get a good grade. If you take a different lab professor, I PROMISE YOU, you will regret it.
Professor Jones is a great professor. He is kind of oblivious to what the class is doing, but he does his best haha. He is very knowledgeable about chemistry and is able to debate your grade if you give proper reasoning. He's also British, which was a shock at first. Hilarious professor. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Super easygoing guy, and makes sure you pass the class if you put any effort in at all. If you miss lab you can email him and he will just straight up exempt you from that day if you have a valid reason. He is knowledgeable enough to walk you though anything you need for lab and will help if you ask with anything you are unsure about.
He is a GOAT for lab. He is a funny dude who makes lab interesting and is a very generous grader. He also will answer any and all questions that you might in lab, worksheets, and reports. Participation matters though!
Dr. Jones is an amazing professor. Really lenient with deadlines, and caring about all the students. Just finish your lab which are usually doable in class and you are good for the week. Doesn't really care much about notebook as long as you have some kind of busy work done on it. Really chill professor, would take him again!!
Quizzes weren't easy but they're only 10% of the grade and he gives plenty of extra credit. The rest is a completion grade. Just show up, work for ~30 minutes a week and it's an easy A. He was also good at explaining anything that my Chem Lecture class hadn't covered yet.
I definitely recommend this professor. He is very chill and you can tell he cares about his students and always wants to make conversation. TAKE HIM!!
This is my 2nd time taking Jones, FOR A REASON. If you want an A, TAKE HIM. I got many people to take him and have agreed he is the best and easiest going professor; you have to trust us. He doesnt take off points for dumb things on reports, 3 attempts for quizzes, he'll help you on the reports, etc. This will be your best semester having him!
I had Professor Jones for an 8pm lab over the summer, but he made it the most enjoyable class he could possible. The labs were quick, while still informative. One of my best professors I've had in college.
He is sweet, kind, and always willing to answer any questions you have! He made the class very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend taking this class with him!
Professor Jones is such a sweet and caring person. You can ask for help on anything and he will always offer an explanation or answer. He makes the lab so easy and he explains the concepts before we start too! He is an amazing professor, definitely take his class!
Awesome lab instructor who is hilarious. He explains how to do each lab very clearly and makes sure we understand what is going on, while also not being overtly strict as to how the course is run. If you need a 1211L credit, absolutely take him.
Had this prof. for 1212L and he was very good! Although if you're looking for a straightforward answer it was a 50/50 shot.. i had better luck looking it up as sometimes he didn't understand what was being asked. No partial credit on lab and everything must be printed and handed in!! Very funny guy tho also very understanding!!
Great teacher, if you do what he tells you to do you will get an A. He loves talking to students about Premier League and his Morgage, if you talk to him after class is over he will love you. Brought in beans and toast for the class one time cause he's British. A real Goat
My guy!! This is my second semester taking him and I have never once had a bad thing to say about Jason! Always helps, answers any questions you may have, and is an easy grader. Basically its harder to fail then to get an A as long as you complete everything! He does like to talk but I found him quite funny and entertaining!! TAKE THIS SWEET GUY!!
Jason's class was awesome. Super nice British guy. Loves to make jokes. He explained the labs well and the class was well organized. Answers any question you have during lab. Take him, easy decision.
take him. do not even think twice. i had signed up for his class on ksaw campus & last minute he got moved to marietta, getting my class changed to marietta was my best decision. he is so chill when he grades reports i got 83 on my lowest. notebooks are graded on completion tbh & none of his quizzes are lockdown. he's funny and makes lab short
Honestly a cool professor
if you can take him do it. it was the easiest college lab class i have ever taken. he grades nicely, he helps, and he is hilarious.
Participation matter. No lockdown browser for quiz. Don't think twice. TAKE HIM.
Hilarious guy and makes chem lab super easy. Final exam is not too hard and lowkey is just plugging numbers in.
Easy grader, nice guy, explains topics well by connecting to various daily life aspects. Great at helping through labs. If you try even a bit, its an easy pass & if you genuinely try its an easy A.
Professor Jones is a super chill British guy who always has a smile on his face. I highly recommend taking him for Chem 1211L. He is very lenient with the lab manuals before class, which makes class less stressful.
