Really cool guy. There is a bit of work required but nothing much. All I did was study for about 3 hours the day before each of his five tests and I was fine. Go to class because he makes it really fun and sometimes you get class participation points and you won't get them if you don't go. Drops your lowest test score :)

Yes, Lanter is a difficult professor, but if you actually make an effort, attend classes, and study, you will do fine. You could say his tests are difficult, but people only say that because he's trying to get you to think, not repeat definitions that he clearly already knows. I love the class(psy of personality) and i think he's a great professor.

Hardest class I have ever taken. This class is nothing but exams and quizzes, no extra credit, homework or projects(except for one). If you're a bad test taker it's going to be extremely difficult for you. The chapters in the textbook are in small font and nearly 40 pages long, so lots of reading. Not a good idea to skip class either.

I loved this class. Professor Lanter is funny and explains concepts well. You just keep up with the work in this class in order to pass. Follow the studying advice he gives and youll do well.

Barely any homework and what you do get assigned he absolutely butchers. Final was a total of 14 chapters and he said study everything, welcome to college. Sarcastic answers as if you should already know the information. Doesnt post anything on d2l, barely gave us time to conduct our final experimental project. Worst professor Ive ever had.

Lanters class is hard but not too hard. You NEED to show up to class and study for exams. There isn't much to be graded on besides exams. The problem is his attitude. He is super sarcastic and makes you feel bad for raising your hand. I would recommend sitting in the back or on the side and never raising your hand if you dont want to be embarassed

I had Dr. Lanter for a grad course last year. I never read the textbook and I don't think anyone else did. We'd show up, sit in a circle, share our personal stories (usually unrelated to the text or material), and then get a test with actual material on it. The class isn't hard but prepare to have no clue what to expect for the exam.

He is a very kind guy and loves what he teaches. He never takes attendance but its beneficial if you go plus it is good if you read and take notes out of the textbook. His lectures are not that boring, he tells a lot of stories. The quizzes are fairly easy. You can find all the answers online and you have 3 attempts. The exams are multiple choice.

Awful. I took intro to Psych thinking it would be an interesting and somewhat of an easy course and it turned out to be harder than my actual core classes. The guy takes intro courses way to seriously so I dropped his class in a heartbeat.

Dr. Lanter is really hype about his "discussion-based classes," yet he can't facilitate them well. From a student perspective, as long as you can banter and b.s., you'll probably do great.

Tests are hard but they can be passed if you study enough. Grades written assignments way too hard, need to be a professional writer to pass. If you write something that is not word for word dictionary definition you will not be right. Presentations are impossible to pass, judges every little thing and does not give a rubric before hand.

Dr. Lanter is an amazing professor. I took him for gen psych, & he is what made me change my major to psych. I've taken him for multiple classes beyond gen psych, & I can tell you that he is definitely someone that makes you work for your grade, but you LEARN SO MUCH. If you're taking this class for what it's intended for, then I recommend him!

Dr. Lanter was amazing! He made me fall in love with psychology. His class is pretty easy if you read the text book and go to class. His tests can be kind of hard, but if you study hard enough you'll be fine. He grades you based on points so your grade can only ever go up. His lectures are inspirational and he comes up with fun activities for us.

He is just a caring professor. He really takes the time to explain the material and answer any questions. He lectures heavily but 75% can be read in the textbook so not everything needs to be written. I suggest reading the chapter before class and then take additional notes on the lecture material. It is tricky balancing the long chapter readings.

I took PSY 202 during the winter break (5 weeks). I wish I would've taken the course during spring or fall because it is so interesting! Each week we had 3 chapters to read and a quiz at the end of each chapter followed by an exam. I think this is a fair amount of work! Professor Lanter was always available through email and replied quickly.

I took Dr. Lanter's gen psych class online my freshman year. He is very good teacher, but he goes quite fast. You really need to listen to everything he says in lecture and write it all down. You absolutely HAVE to read the textbook and write everything down, bc you never know what random facts he's gonna put on the quizzes. TestsLecture+Textbook

Terrible professor. Honestly a joke. He does not teach this class, he expects you to read tons of pages without teaching you anything from the book. All he does is talk about the book . And for a test, do not get one word wrong or dont explain it like the author would explain it he will give you ZERO CREDIT FOR THE QUESTION. AGAIN, TERRIBLE!!!!!

I took the Honors section of this class and I will say be prepared to read the book and take notes on the chapters, but more importantly LISTEN TO HIS LECTURES. A majority of his exams in this class were based on things he talked about in class. He isn't a PowerPoint teacher either so you actually have to pay attention. Overall, great prof though.

Exams are very short coming from the book and class discussions. If you read the chapter and participate in the conversation, you will do fine. If you think you need to write something down during class, do it because it will likely be on the exam. The more effort you put, the more you will enjoy his class and he is very witty which I enjoyed

A good choice for a psych professor, but don't take his class if you're not ready to put in work outside of it. Tests are based on the book, but his lectures are rarely a regurgitation of the book's material. If you read the chapters and pay attention in the lectures, you'll do fine. He has a more dry sense of humor and is sarcastic, not mean.

I liked the material learned in this class but the exams are very hard. The first one we took was online because he was out of town, but the rest were in person. Don't expect to rely on what he teaches in class to be on the exam. You have to mostly read the textbook to do at least partially decent on the exams.

If you're a counseling student, this course will be very different than any of your other counseling classes so be prepared for that. Don't be immediately intimidated by the exams, they're not that bad. This class is a challenge for people with social anxiety. Lanter is a decent professor. He clearly cares about his students and tries to make sure they feel confident in their abilities in his class. I had to retake this class because of a poor grade from missing a deadline, but I got an A as well as a good reminder of the material I learned before. Class is enriching, would like to have him again.

I took the Honors class with him. It took me a while to figure out how this class works. Once you get it its really not that bad. I biggest mistake was not taking notes in class discussions. You will have 10 quizzes you take on your own time that is using the textbook. Then 3 exams, TAKE NOTES about what he talks about, it will be easy then.
