Great professor, uses funny examples for his lectures, easy midterms as long as you study and pay attention. He is also always willing to stay as long as you need for office hours to work with you, one to one until you understand the material and homework.
Professors should learn how to teach by the examples of Professor Jason Lee. Better then best of the greatest Professors. His notes are worth gold. Read the notes, attend lecture, then the course is just relaxing and eating triple chocolate cake. Sincerely, Professor Lee clarifies economics in-depth. Extra helpful in office hours.
An outgoing professor who effectively teaches the fundamentals of economics in this introductory course. His unmatched alpha-male presence echoes through the lecture hall as students are captivated by his teachings. Professor Lee's office hours are a feasible alternative way to study. The exams are fair, no complaints. 10/10 would take again
Great Professor! Always ready with examples and lectures prepared. Constantly asks the class if material was well explained before moving on.Easy to talk to. Had a great personality so I wasn't intimidated to talk to him. Wished more professors were well prepared like he is. Awesome Professor!
Very helpful. Uses comedy to maintain interest of the class.
Professor Lee is exemplary of everything a professor should be. He is exceptional at relating economic concepts to situations an average student may understand. Though his lectures are unfortunately long, he lightens the mood with witty and humorous comments often pertaining to his ego. Easy to talk to. One of the best professors I've had. He's hot
Easy. Just show up and write his notes.
Best Professor I've had at UC Merced. Very thorough and helpful. He is really helpful in Office Hours! Extremely knowledgeable and always ready to help the students. I wish more professors were like Jason Lee.
Great teacher. If you are an Econ/Mgmt student, my advise is to take Prof. Lee's courses ASAP, it will make all your other courses a breeeeeeze
This man is an amazing teacher. His interest is that of the students. He always tries his best in order to help students succeed. His extreme charisma is not only backed by his amazingly good looks, but by his ability to demonstrate his interest in what he is teaching. If you need someone to talk to, just go to his office hours. He's there to help.
A mentor , best selling author, winning smile, bodacious bod, but most importantly a best friend. This teacher can only be matched by his brilliant mind. With recent advancements in cloning technology Jason Lee is on the number one prospect list. MVP was created by the chancellor in 2005 to define him as Most Valuable Professor.
Both a riveting lecturer and relatable voice in office hours, I have seen this professor inspire students semester after semester. I consider him to be the best lecturer this campus has had the privilege and luck to acquire. I feel sorry for those that will never have the chance to take a course with this brilliant man. Also a total heart-throb.
He is an amazing teacher. I love his teaching style. He writes all of his notes along with his students. They are also posted all online, so if you cannot make a class, there are no worries. He provides practice tests and informative study guides. It is really hard to fail the class, but it is also challenging to earn an A. Anyone can do it though.
He is a really good lecturer, and gives info really loud and clear
He's an awesome professor. Organized and clear. There is an online quiz every week, but you can get help from him in office hours. HW biweekly, and a test around every month, cumulative final.
Lee was a very clear and concise about the material. Tends to be a bit fast paced but always helpful if you go to office hours.
Jason Lee is the best professor any first year would take! I would not recommend buying the textbook, since his lectures are on the website. Unless you are a econ or business major, i would recommend the textbook. He is so funny, and curves the grade. He understands students life, and if you talk to him in office hours, he'll be lenient.
Teacher's notes are extremely helpful, clear and concise. Textbook is not needed as lecture notes are posted online. He tells you what is expected of you in the beginning and syllabus schedule is followed throughout semester. Homework is extremely helpful. Go to his office hours. Tests are straightforward as long as you study. Do the practice exams
You can expect homework and hard tests with this class. His office hours are extremely helpful though. He has such a great passion for what he does, it is difficult not to become completely interested in the course. I chose a major because of this course.
The Best.
His notes are helpful and his tests aren't so hard. I never bought and book and didn't need to anyway. Random extra credit pop quizzes here and there. I always recommend him to friends and he is why I switched majors.
Jason Lee is a man's man. He is readily available and he has inspired me to achieve greatness. He is hands down the best economics professor in the economics department. His lectures are mezmorizing. His classes are enjoyable, brilliant, and real easy. You would have to be an idiot to fail this class.
Go to his office hours (he'll help you out and it gives you a chance for him to get to know you). 8 total homework/problem sets. 1 investment group project where you play wallstreetsurvivor and write a paper on your experience. 2 midterms and 1 final. He gives you cheat sheets for the midterms and final; also provides study guides.
Jason Lee is a very cool professor. He's very funny but also a smart ass. If you're a Psych major he will roast you nonstop. His midterms aren't very hard and he provides study guides. He provides help with the homework, you just need to show effort.
One of the best professors at UC Merced. He keeps lectures very interesting. 10/10 would recommend. Do not purchase the textbook for this class. You will not need it.
Professor Lee is a really great professor to have. I found his lectures kind of boring but he really does go in-depth with the material and is available during office hours. The homework is 20 problem sets and there are three midterms and one final. As long as you understand the material, the class is pretty chill. And he takes attendance .
I bought the textbook but didnt use it. Just went to all the lectures because it was mandatory for attendance points. There is homework (problem set) after every 1-2 chapters or lecture. Curves midterm and final pretty fairly.
Professor Lee is by far my most favorite professor I've had. Although his lectures can be heavy because he gives many notes to take, his class is relatively easy. there are no quizzes and he curves every exam the final!! there is no possible way that u can fail his class!!
Dr. Jason Lee is the man. He is really clear in lectures and is really open to interact with students. I am really shy, but he makes it really easy for you to ask questions. Made economics interesting. His persona is the best, he always roasts on some of the students that are close to him (in a nice way). Definitely recommend anyone to take him.
Professor Lee, is a great professor that is very well respected, I took him for both ECON 1 and ECON 101 He is very nice and is willing to work one on one with students in office hours on hw and practice exams. He enjoys making fun and joking around with students that he is close with. He also makes sure to take time to review before exams.
Make sure to follow along with his lecture, he's pretty thorough. He interacts with his students as well.
Professor Lee is an amazing professor. His lecture are intense but he provides notes on CatCourses. He also takes attendance but he drops four attendance points. He also drops your four lowest problem sets out of 20. I recommend a study group for this class to do hw and study for exams. He does provide exam study guides and the final is cumulative.
Professor Lee is very good at teaching economics. He is able to dumb down information so everyone can understand it. The homework is exactly like the tests so if you are able to do the homework you will do good on the test. Professor Lee is very approachable. His office hours will help tremendously. Professor Lee is the best Professor I ever had.
Dr. Jason Lee is a modern day Shakespeare, in the flesh. I was one of the students who sat in the front everyday, and its equivalent to a front row seat to Lebrons games or a Kanye West concert. Dr. Jason William Lee gives amazing performances on his lectures and writes concise notes. He has inspired me to greatness and his kindness.
had him for spark ( econ thru sports ) and was an easy A. just do the homework and he curves the exams. funny professor! theres two group projects, as long as you talk and get all the info you get the full points. plays kahoot & the person with the most points at the end of the semester gets extra credit.
He's an awesome professor. He teaches very well and makes the material easy to understand. He uploads the lectures later too, so if you missed something or you missed class, you'll do alright because the notes are online. He also curves the tests. Homework isn't too difficult.
He teaches the subject very well and makes it easy to understand. If you need help, he has office hours; you can also check your answers for the homework and online quizzes. His way of teaching was excellent for me who's a visual and reading/writing learner.
His lecture is full of text and boring. I will be much engaged in class if he puts more images in his presentation.
He's a good professor, he makes everything clear and concise just make sure to ask questions if you don't understand something. The exams are easy as long as you pay attention to the lecture. Plus if you stay the whole lecture there are times he gives extra credit.
Decent professor but assigns a ton of homework.
The course was interesting and I learned a lot. Professor Lee makes learning the subject fun. He was enthusiastic in lecture and used real world examples. My favorite professor by far!!!
Dr. Lee is the best Professor that has ever lived. Dr. Lee teaching is like drinking fine wine. Ever heard of the quote "You can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink"? Well Dr. Lee could make that horse drink. Dr. Lee without a doubt has made me fall in love with Economics and has inspired me to be better in life. THANK YOU DR. JASON LEE!
WAY TOO DIFFICULT. i am an average A student and have been failing his class all semester. Not once have i failed a college course. it just proves how difficult is this course
Jason Lee is a very good professor. He truly cares about his students which is why he holds so much office hours. However, you do have to work hard in his class and the only students who complain are the ones who arent willing to put in the work. I will most definitely take him again.
Class is an easy A and also the professor is always available whenever you need help. It is advisable to always go to class as he gives extra credit when you show up and go to office hours especially if you are having difficulty in class or just need some help with homework. Also, NEVER CHEAT because you will get caught.
The hws are easy and his review sessions are a must. Make sure to study and don't be a dummy and cheat he finds ways to catch you. Take his classes cause in the end he is a really good professor just hard to talk to cause all the boys are mushed in his office hours taking up all his attention. Go to class he gives extra credit a lot in person
Professor Lee is one of my all-time professors at UC Merced. He can make economic concepts difficult and explain it so simply. Should be inducted into the Econ HOF. Very comedic and knows how to make jokes. Having him as a professor has been one of the greatest blessings I have had. His classes are litty
Textbook? No. Readings? No. Tests? Easy. Homeworks? Easy. Office Hours? Helpful. Insurance? Geico.
Straight up, Professor Lee is by far one of the best out of UC Merced staff. He makes classes enjoyable and fun during breakout rooms. Very easy to talk too if you need any help with homework or quizzes. A huge plus if you mention you don't like the SF Giants or 49ers !
This is my third time taking Professor Lee's classes. To be honest I think his teaching strategy very matches how I want to study. His lecture is very clear and always points out all the key formulas and theories for students to focus on. Both the examples and in-class exercises give a chance to better prepare for HW and exams. Highly recommended!
Professor Jason Lee is one of the greatest professors at UC Merced. He will help you when you do not understand if you ask for help. Office hours are iconic and explains things very well. He is also super smart, patient, and just amazing. Forever a UC Merced legend
Class is very lecture heavy. You have to retain so much information. Each midterm is based on like 8 chapters but with lots of information, as an A student I held a C. You have to study and remember everything. Notes are essential!
Dr. Lee is a great professor that managed to connect with students while ensuring that all the information was understood. He is very helpful all you have to do is ask. This was my first semester at UC Merced and I hope I get to have him again!
Professor Lee really cares about his students. There is a lot of note taking, but instead of just using power point he explained to us while writing everything down. Always checked to see if there were any questions.
Professor Lee is the best professor in the Econ department. He's a very good lecturer and can keep students engaged by making jokes related to the material. If you're having trouble he is more than willing to help you out during office hours so you can understand the material. I've honestly never seen a professor care about students like him
Professor Lee is one of the best professors you can have in the economics department at UC Merced. Everything is very clear from his notes to presentations, to study guides. Multiple informative announcements are made to help students. The material in his study guides/practice exams is guaranteed material for the exam. He is absolutely amazing.
Professor Jason Lee is a troll. I left class early and he gave extra credit to everyone who stayed. I asked if he would do it again but the whole class was watching Prof Hitch's twitch stream. He said, "Why would I give extra credit for watching twitch". Besides that, Prof Jason Lee is a very qualified teacher, very humble, chill, smart and a troll
Never went to lecture, pulled all-nighters before exams, & got an A. He heavily curves every exam & curves grades on top of that. Ton of extra credit. You have to actively try to fail his class. He has stellar notes too. From what I've seen, it's clear he also cares about his students and is very understanding as well. Would recommend this class.
Professor Lee is a solid Econ professor. If you're an econ major at UCM, you will eventually take one of his classes. He's fair on grading and seems like a genuine guy. 8/10
Hes great and youll pass
Homework - 1 or 2 times a week and usually not that hard if you go to classes. Midterms hard and need a lot of studying for them. Would recommend taking this professor.
He's a really good professor because he tries to engage with the class even though it's a big lecture. We're mainly graded on our 3 midterms, Final and problem sets. As long as you do all your work and study for the exams you'll do good. He provides reviews before every exam which is very helpful and has files/ video recordings of the lectures.
Great professor, the homework matters, but midterms are what end up determining your grade. Extra credit opportunities.
Professor Lee is one of the best professors at UCM. There are a lot of notes but as long as you keep up, you should be fine. He curves every exam. The class average for most of the exams were about 50%, but he will curve it by like 10%.
Professor Lee was a good teacher the way he taught the class was by a big lecture hall but if you sit in front you could see the notes he was writing out for you. He did upload the notes that he did in class at the end of the day. As well as his grading is pretty easy as he curves the grades on midterms and the final. 1;50hr class don't nap!
I hate this class. For this class you either pass your midterms with perfect score or you fail. Like literally every midterm you have to have a good score because if not it pulls it down. Any other work doesn't even count towards your grade.
Professor Lee was incredibly knowledgable and passionate. His lectures were fun and easy to follow (although they were nearly 2 hours long). He graded fairly and curved every midterm significantly. He took time to answer questions in class and held a review session for every exam. Relatively easy class as long as you go to lectures and take notes.
Prepare to work for that A! Class is VERY lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory, very strict on that. Participate and you'll pass. Also, do not take him over the summer, the workload is a lot.
Professor Lee is an awesome teacher. His lectures are really fun and he is a funny guy overall. He gives unexpected extra credit and he curves his tests. Love this man. I would definitely take him again if I could.
Just about as quality of a professor you can get. Somewhat reachable and pretty funny, but highkey gotta work for that A cuz tests r rough.
Good professor, tough grader, funny, bratty, and gives a lot of work.
If you have the option to, take Professor Lee. His classes are fun to attend and he curves almost every exam because he wants every student to pass his class. As long as you do the homework and get decent grades on the exams, you will pass this class.
The class was lecture heavy with a lot of information in each class. As long as you do the homework and try on the test you will pass. He curves almost all exams because he wants everyone to pass. I honestly thought I had failed the class after I finished the final, but I ended up passing
Professor Lee has fun and entertaining class. He tells lots of jokes, you should definitely stay till the end of class because he does do extra credit. He does give breaks half way through class. He curves every midterm because he wants you to pass. Watch his review recording and you should pass the class!
Professor Lee is one of the funniest teachers I have had. He makes lectures interesting and engaging with students, and while attendance is graded, you can miss a few classes and be fine. The class itself was not insanely difficult but even if you are new to investments Lee explains things in a way that anyone can understand. Top econ prof at UCM
If you are considering taking ECON 001 with Dr. Lee, let me assure you: this is not just a course—it is an odyssey of intellectual enlightenment led by an instructor so brilliant and inspiring. Dr. Lee doesn't just teach economics; he embodies it and transforms what could have been a dry topic into a symphonic masterpiece of supply and demand.
Dr. Lee is not just a professor; he's the Beyoncé of economics. Every lecture is flawlessly choreographed and effortlessly delivered. His voice is a soothing yet authoritative symphony that could calm a volatile stock market. The way he phrases concepts is so memorable that you'll find yourself explaining game theory to strangers at Starbucks.
Known by many names like "Beyonce of Economics," "King of Economics," or "Father of Econ." Serious?? Nahh, he funny funny. His office is a safe environment where you can get help with an assignment or just play some type of card game with him. You gotta pay attention in his class if you wanna do good in his class.
Took his class a while ago, maybe it was just the concepts, but it was the most boring class for me. Mostly slides. He's a very nice dude, though I was sure I failed, but he curves all the midterms and finals, so you can pass.
Awsome professor to take for Econ majors. Lectures are detailed & the material is hard, but he explains it in a way that makes it easier to understand. Just go to lectures and doing the homework will help you pass the class. He does midterm reviews that are just like the real thing and even posts the recordings. Kind grader and curves at the end.
Amazing professor
He is both a wonderful person and professor literally has been the highlight of my teachers throughout college if I could take his class again (and not pay for it) I would
Amazing teacher, super funny and explains things clearly in lectures. Really fluent with course knowledge and prepares you well for future econ courses. Will drop up to 7 absences and 4 assignments a semester, too. Lenient, funny, and extremely qualified. Can't recommend him enough.
HE LOST TO THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS!! SHALL BE A LEGACY TO REMEMBER FOREVER -some guy in ECON 149 146.96-146.17
HE LOST TO THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS!! SHALL BE A LEGACY TO REMEMBER FOREVER -some other guy in ECON 149 146.96-146.17 (ECON 149)
He's an amazing professional and chill too. The only problem is that if you have hard of hearing please sit in the front … he doesn't wear a mic and 9/10 times people talk over him !!
Great Teacher. Homework is 20% of your grade but is relatively easy to do if you have the patience for it. (I didn't). But Midterms and Final can easily make up for it.
Prof. Lee is one of the best professors I've ever met. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities! If you pay attention in his lectures, you can confidently earn an A in his class.
His lectures are very easy to understand, and he uploads his notes online in case you miss anything.
He's like the Econ Batman, but better. He teaches Econ like no other, his class is great to take if you like laughing and smiling. He is a great proffessor
He is a great professor and very enthusiastic and answers all of your questions
is good professor
The professor is very professional, and the knowledge in the classroom is very clear and easy to understand.
Amazing professor! Curves grade and gives lots of extra credit too, he really cares about his students
