Awesome teacher. He definately knows his stuff, and helps students to relate the info to real life by elaborating with stories. Also, great sense of humor (partially aided by his resemblance to Andy Dick). Overall, take this teacher!

hard, hard, hard! his tests were always so hard, the class average was always 70 range. Takes alot of notes and study alot and still maybe you can get a high C

He explains his points with LOTS of examples, which really helps. He's funny, so you don't fall asleep. His tests are hard, but the "Thought Questions" are usually very easy.

Awesome teacher. Easy to understand, and pay attention to. Tests are M/C which is a plus. No major assignments.

He is a great teacher who wont put u to sleep. His outlines his lectures around the book to help the students understand the material. He loves to teach and cracks jokes. Tests are a little tricky but it is not hard to do well over all in his class.

he tries to be funny in his lectures but he is not. he know what hes talking about, but you have to take a quiz every week and the tests are really hard. he doesnt curve them either. if you read before the quiz and take notes during the class you will be fine.

This class was very challenging but interesting. The professor defineitly tries to keep you interested and makes jokes to keep people awake which I like. Hot too!

I think he is an awesome teacher. You def have to read the chapters as well as the notes to do well on tests. We didnt have quizzes, we did have to write reflection papers but they take like 5 minutes. He keeps lectures interesting too. Probably the best psyc teacher!

I thought he was a really good teacher, he's one of the few psyc professors that makes sense (and talks loud enough to hear). Plus he is actually challenging enough to learn something useful.

He is an ok teacher, but he is very opinionated. Go to class and take good notes. Tests are basically right from the notes, but you should still read the book, because that will gaurantee you and A on the tests.

He is a very clear and informative teacher who knows alot. Class participation turns him on for a good grade. Be prepared to do alot of reading for a weekly quiz. Tests right from notes usually. Only two small papers to write which were fairly easy!

I won't lie, this class is challenging BUT...he is a smart man. There are weekly quizes that you have to read entire chapters, i would always read them right before class (took an hour at most) and i got 100% on most all of them. The exams are rough but if you read weekly chapters its really okay.

I thought he was a great teacher.He really knows what he's talking about.His classes are never boring and he's actually pretty funny. He keeps you interested. I never read for any of the quizzes but did really well on the exams. The exams come STRAIGHT from the notes. I recommend taking his class

Hes a good teacher - knows what hes talking about. You have to read the readings if you want to do well bc you have weekly quizzes and the tests are basically all on the books and some from the lecture. Not a bad teacher to take.

I dont know how long he's been teaching but when I took his class he seemed like he was still trying to get his footing. He was good overall though.

This class was very interesting and funny. He does keep you to the last second every day but it's ok cause hes not bad to look at. The tests are challenging but if you study you'll be ok and you have simple thought questions every week or so that he grades easily instead of a long grueling paper. overall it was not bad!!

Very good professor. Uses powerpoint so you can follow along in class and makes the information interesting. Enjoyed his class and his tests were not that hard- all you have to do is take notes but you have to study for them.

McCartney for PSYC of Infancy & Childhood sucked! the class was boring because he went off of the power points the whole time. He never gave study guides or study sessions. Good luck with this class. I would reccommend this teacher for people who are self motivated and self directed.

I took Dr. McCartney in Fall '04 & a lot of people did horrible in his class because they didn't read before each class, they didn't take good notes & they didn't study very much. Do the readings every time, study hard & remember that college students are supposed to write down more than the bullets on the PowerPoint & you'll do fine.

he's pretty cool. he is very knowledgable. quizzes every week, they're extremely easy if you do the reading. tests are easy if u study your notes.

Pretty good professor. He makes the class pretty interesting & uses his personal life to explain examples somtimes. Can be boring at times. Goes completely off power points & you watch some movies. Not too much work but read the text! Overall a pretty good guy! Makes himself available to help his students.

quizzes every week. read the chapter before each quiz and u will breeze through. 3 tests and the final are all mult choice and the finals not cumulative. if u go to class, read the chapters and study youll get an A.

AWESOME! I'm a biology major and only take psyc classes for electives to have him! for whoever said he was "boring" you cant have any sort of sense of humor, he's so funny! ive had him for a regular semester, and a winter class and the 2 and 1/2 hours fly by...mon-fri and i don't mind going whatsoever! LOVE HIM!

He's a good teacher. He has good stories and he's not hard at all. One of the best psych teachers at salisbury.

He is an under-rated teacher, he is good and all you have to do is take notes and study them and read and you will do fine in this class with him. Many people in my class dropped and complained but they must not have read or studied. It's college not 9th grade

Dr. McCartney is well-known for being "the man," at least when it comes to kids' brains and being hizzot. But on the golf course, not so much, my friends, not so much.

I had only taken Psyc 101 before I took his Nature vs Nurture seminar and I learned so much from only this class!!! We had 2 papers second part of the semester, one midterm exam one final and everyday we had reading with 2 questions we had to make up about the reading. He made everything interesting and alot of fun!!!

I took Psyc320 with McCartney twice because I earned a D the first time around which was understandable because I didn't attend class... But the second time around I passed all my exams and came to every single class and still got a D because of all the online work! Make sure you go to class and do all of the online quizzes if you want to pass.

Funny Class! Jesse, as me and a few others call him, is quite a character. Makes the class worth taking.

Fall 2011 is his best semester ever! Me and all the other students have learned so much from him. We wish all your semesters were this good, Dr. M!

Great professor. Really knowledgeable on the subject. I'll admit I was a little bit scared of him at first because he seemed very strict and the workload was intimidating. But he really wants his students to do well. Do not take a seminar class if you don't like to tallk though because you WILL lose points.

The syllabus convinced me that Dr. McCartney was going to be strict. However, his passion and knowledge on the subject and class and the perspectives of other scientists are insightful. Yes, the homework load is extensive, but the topic of Nature-Nurture is so dense, that homework lessens the ambiguity. The class is extremely eye opening!

I had him for Infancy and Childhood Development also and I enjoyed both classes. His work load does look intimidating at first, but he makes it easy to get through. Very good teacher that I highly recommend! Only if you are okay with reading articles and/or a small chapter before every class, but it's really not that bad at all.

GREAT teacher, lectures are packed full of information but he makes it easy to follow along. Get ready to write more notes than you've ever written in your entire life. You definitely need to read the textbook, lots of content on the test comes from a combo of the textbook + lectures. Don't skip! Have a friend in the class to exchange notes with.
