The best math teacher I have had yet, and managed to get a B in Calculus. He is very straightforward about what he is teaching and is so clear. I understood everything because the way he teaches is amazing.

The best math teacher I've ever had-- not easy, but very clear, thorough, and helpful. I got an A+ in the class, and wish desperately that he also taught Math 131! By all means, take Miner for Algebra 120 or Math 130!

If you want to learn math, you will with Minor. He is very clear and knows how to teach. He will never give extra credit or cut you some slack, but he makes you want to do well in the class.

I got an A in this guys class. He's clear and if you do the homework and go to class anybody with any level of intelligience can do well. He makes calculus easy. Some of the great things hell do is give u a copy of corrected tests so you can learn ur test mistakes by the final. No worries

I think Miner is one of the best math teachers i have ever had.. he really explains the material thouroughly and explains why you may need it in real life.. he gives a lot of homework, but takes ?'s directly from the homework & puts it on the quizzes.. he gives lots group quizzes which are awesome.

I took math 107 with someone else before and failed i recieved a B from Miner. Good teacher and his tests are pretty simple if you show up to class and do your home work and quizzes the course is simple. I liked him enough to take math 120 from him this next semester.

What can I say? Math is my purgatory, but I got an A in this class. I have always struggled in math, but he made logarithms seem like cake! He's clear, defined, organized, fair, cute, nerdy, smart, sometimes funny, and a GREAT teacher. TAKE HIM!!

Jason Miner is without a doubt the best math teacher I've ever had. He explains the material better than any other teacher I've had. He lets you know the easiest ways to find the correct solutions rather than the "standard" ways. If you go to class and do the homework you will do very well. The tests are from the homeworks and reviews, if not he will warn you and go over it in class. But it is math, so if you dont come to class or do the work you'll eat it hard.

Take this guy if you want to learn a lot, and have fun doing it. I have taken him for my last 2 math classes, because I enjoyed it so much. The math lab is a great tool, but he is always available for office hours, and is there when he says he will be. I would reccomend Jason for any level of math.

math is usually boring, but Not with this guy. He keeps your attention with his jokes and humor, but realisticly, he's a good guy and you will definitely benefit from taking one of his classes

I have taken Math 150 a few times before, and never really understood the subject. This semester I, by luck alone, got to be with Miner. And I haven't been happier. He explains everything with clarity, and his lectures are easy to follow. I am only sad that he is not going to teach 160 next semester.

BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!! Speaks clearly, explains things well, and gives fair hw/quizes, and he is funny on top of it. If you want to learn a ton, get a good grade, and have fun doing it you have to take this guy. He drops 5 out of the 20 quizes in the semester, and 2 out of the 10 homeworks. He writes up study guides and note sheets, he is awesome

If you're going to take math, take him. He lays out everything you need to know for tests in class, and in the homework. Do the homework, do well in the class. And, he is pretty funny. Oh, and, if you know anything about punk rock, or its history, just talk with him about it (especially 80's stuff) and he'll be down with you.

He is a very good teacher. You have to earn your grade, although, you vs. the material may seem hard, if you do the HW and study this class is a breeze. TAKE MINER if you want to learn. Plus he make the material interesting by cracking jokes. If your looking for an easy A take someone else however math tachers at SBCC arn't the greatest.

I've never been good at math but Miner definitely taught the class very well. He explains things clearly but its up to the student to practice and study outside of class. His tests are tough and there's a lot of homework but he tells you exactly what to study and gives a lot of opportunities for points. Keeps your attention early in the morning.

If you catch on easily and like math, this is THE easiest A. He's funny, keeps things interesting, and is an awesome teacher. Probably one of my favorite math teachers I've ever head. I'd definitely recommend him.

After two years and moving to Arizona, I still can't believe how great of a teacher he was. I wish there was a way to take his courses until the end of my degree, but that just isn't possible. I CLEARLY understood everything and enjoyed the time in his class. He will also call out people for being idiots, which is fine in my book!

Miner is a great teacher for business calc, math 130. He is CLEAR in what he wants. Homework helps you do well on quizzes, quizzes are all HW problems. Tests are mainly quiz or HW problems. FAIR tests. I have had a hard time in math my whole life and yet professor Miner makes this new concept easy to understand. Highly recommended

Jason is awesome has a wealth of knowledge in the history and application of math likes to ramble a bit about the history but its fun and funny.

Great teacher! Enjoyed calc 150 so much I am taking his class again next semester. He is clever and articulate, the class is challenging but he makes it understandable and enjoyable. TAKE HIS CLASS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Plus he has cool posters in his office :) must be a sign of greatness.

Really good teacher, had him for MATH 137 and he's one of the best teachers i had at sbcc. He likes to talk a bit about the history of math but in a funny way and he's got a lot of stories. His tests are straightforward, he doesnt throw in any curved balls or anything so it's easy to study for his tests.

Miner is the best math teacher I have ever had by far. If you're looking to succeed and understand calculus take Miner. Makes material expected CRYSTAL clear. If you don't do homework you miss out on easy points and will fall behind. Does not like to be asked questions but explains everything in his daily note packets. TAKE MINER.

This guy knows his****. He makes math fun and easy. His tests are decently hard, but nothing one couldn't handle with a little bit of studying. Another great math teacher for me.

If you have an opportunity take a class from him DO IT. He's very laid back, extremely helpful, and explains everything crystal clear. And he's really entertaining. He's very fair and the tests are straightforward so as long as you take the time to prepare for exams you will do fine. This was my favorite class this semester.

MINOR IS THE BEST! I have taken calculus before, but his method of teaching was the most successful! He teaches at a good pace and repeats how to do things so you don't forget it. Plus he gives outlines to take notes on! Homework and study guides are challenging but it prepares you 100% for the tests. Pay attention and you will be fine.

Jason is an amazing teacher. I would have taken him for more classes if I could have. He is very clear about what will be on the test and he teaches extremely well. He gives you printed notes and all you have to do is fill in so you won't be scrambling to get good notes - you can actually pay attention. Funny guy. Likes beer and hockey.

Very helpful professor. If you give him a problem he doesn't know how to do he will figure it out then and there. This is the sign of a truly great professor. He was very helpful whenever I went for help. He can be intimidating at first but he'll come around. Great professor, very clear lectures and extremely helpful. He should get an award.

Besides the personality and methods of teaching, you'll get a laugh out of this class just because he makes math more presentable and fun. The grading and assignments are more than fair. Never judge a professor by the grade you get, but by the smiles you get out of class. He is awesome.

Jason Miner is by far the best math professor that I have ever taken. He is against memorization, so he really teaches the concepts and where they stem from. He always refers back to old concepts and how they are being used in new material. Also a very funny guy. The perfect professor. If you want to actually learn math then take Miner.

Great professor. Took him for a summer class (6 weeks instead of 16), so was a grind with class and homework everyday, but he has a sharp sense of humor, throws in context and history for what you're studying, makes studying for exams and his grading clear. Take him as a professor and you'll have a good time while improving tremendously at math.

He gives out printed notes and has you add onto them during his lectures. His pop quizzes are questions off the homework. Before every test he has a group exam which basically covers everything. Miner goes above and beyond what any other teacher will do in a typical math class. He provides extra learning resources through his website, has a FREE TEXTBOOK (saved $180 thanks to him) that he teaches from, gives packets with clear notes, formulas and practice problems for each lecture, and he's got a great sense of humor.

By far the best math instructor yet. Printed notes, group review before exams, and a reasonable amount of homework make this class very passable. He prefers to teach derivations, and explains each equation or theorem used. Funny guy, and ties in stories that makes class enjoyable. This class was definitely worth taking. Take him if you can!

I took Miner for both 137 and 138 and wish that he still taught 150-210. Miner is hands down the best math teacher I've ever taken! Super detailed notes, clear expectations, fair grading. Miner comes off as rather gruff at first and has a tough-love attitude but also genuinely cares about his student's success. I can't recommend him enough!

He's funny, fair, organised and clear. It was a lot of work but all that practice pays off. He goes into detail with his lecture which is really helpful.

Greatest math teacher of all time. Explains material well, nice, funny, just an all around great guy. Class is structured well with group quizzes and review quizzes in order to make sure you understand the material section by section. Even goes above and beyond by being accessible to students on the weekend for a review right before exam.

I've taken Miner for 137 and 150. If I could, I would only take math with him. He is passionate about the subject and clearly enjoys teaching. He adds a lot of history about where the math techniques came from. He jokes a lot making topics actually enjoyable. I would leave class in a better mood because of his great attitude! Cool cool dude.

Miner is a cool guy. Calculus is a tough class(unless you're a quant) but he doesn't make it more difficult than need be, although if you're a slacker you will struggle to pass. He drops your 2 lowest HW's and 2 lowest quiz scores. You can take your quizzes w/ classmates. HW is reasonable and not online, thankfully. Best math prof. I've seen at CC.

Jason is a wonderful professor. He's a really reasonable guy and the expectations for the class are really obvious. Be prepared for long lectures where you need to really take notes. He explains things very clearly and if you don't understand, he has very accessible office hours. His tests are very similar to the study guides and practice quizzes.

Awesome teacher who knows exactly what he's talking about. Calculus is a hard class in general, but he is very clear and very helpful. His website has a ton of information including answer keys to all the quizzes and exams, which become available after you take them. Homework is graded for completion, so make sure to do that for easy points.

If I had a choice I would only ever take math with him. Excellent lectures, explains the material clearly, hands out review packets for the test. His group quizzes are annoying if you hate group work / have trouble concentrating when there's noise, but whatever.

This is my first semester to study math. He is literally an interesting guy. Sometimes he is strict, but his lectures are clearly. One thing I want to mention is there are many homework have to do. Taking your notes and study, you will get good grades. If I have a chance, I better take his class again.

Decent teacher. Does do +/- grades so beware of that. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does collect HW once a week and gives in-class quizzes (2 lowest grades dropped for both). Note: The other Math220 teacher, Gabe, does not do +/- and does not require a textbook.

I had a blast in Miners class this semester, even though we had to transition to online after the whole outbreak, he was still very caring and patient. Great professor, group quizzes every week! Exams are just like the review quizzes so study those at least twice!

Great professor. He gives you so many materials, more than needed, to do well in his course. Super smart and will give you good lectures. You definitely have to work in his class but he provides a great foundation for all students to succeed.

I am so glad I took him when I was at SBCC. He is quite literally the best teacher I've ever had in my entire life. Do your work and you'll pass.

Loved his class! Despite being completely online, he did a great job with online lectures and makes the work understandable. He is also quite funny and cracks a few jokes during lectures and makes them enjoyable. Has weekly quizzes so you are on track and understand the material. Has study guides that are exactly like the test. Def recommend!

Miner is great and the class is relatively easy. Quizzes almost every class day. Easy points through homework, discussions, and review quizzes. Drops two lowest quizzes and homeworks. Replaces one test grade with final, if better. Genuinely funny. He is very organized and accessible. Prepares you well for exams. Overall, he is super great!

Professor Miner is an amazing math professor. The class layout is super clear and organized, even online. Miner is a great teacher and gives you every tool/resource you would need to succeed in his class. Jason Miner is a GREAT calc professor! He makes math easier than most SBCC profs & his lectures are easy to follow! (Also, he is a funny guy.) He is always available during office hours & is on his email 24/5 if you need help! He gives weekly quizzes, but they are good at preparing you for exams. If (online) math is hard for you, take his class!!

Funny guy. Has lectures on YouTube so you can watch on your own time. Splits the lectures up into different pages of his guided note packets, so you don't have to watch a 1hr lecture all at once. Super good at explaining how to do problems and defining terms, especially ones heard in the business world. Fast graders. Overall, GREAT professor.

Professor Miner keeps it real. He is straight forward with his teaching style and incorporates lessons into real life news making it that much more important to learn. Professor Miner was born to be a math teacher. How he is able to repeatedly discuss the same exact problem with the same level of enthusiasm to student after student so that each is able to comprehend it is beyond me. If you want a straightforward calculus course that will ensure you know the material for later STEM courses, this is it.

He was a good teacher and I would take him again. Almost every class started with a short group quiz and there a homework once a week. It could be a lot of homework problems, but he graded them very favorably. He dropped the worst 2 HW and quiz grades and had the final replace the worst exam. Homework is turned in person, not online.

Minor is a very enthusiastic teacher and makes himself widely available to students. He seems to really care about the subject and taking his class makes you feel as if you really learned something. Exams and group quizzes are key so be sure to keep an eye out for test dates. Grading is fair and good grades are earned. Solid calculus teacher 10/10.

He's a good teacher attendance in class is needed to do well as every class started with a short group quiz and there a homework once a week. While the homework problems can take quite a long time, they're meant to help you learn the content. The group quizzes are a nice since you can collaborate with your peers. Each exam has a practice exam which helps you gauge what will be on the exam. Great prof!
