Good and helpful teacher of all levels of Math.
Know's his math. Keep's it real with his slick hair and tattoo. Enjoy his laugh and hippi personality
Two words: THE BEST. His tests are hard, but you will do fine if you show up in the class and do all the homework. He has the coolest hippy language for an instructor. Take his class, you will like him.
very good teacher. very helpful. if you take class with him i guarantee that you will enjoy it
His teaching style is laid back and informal. He really wants you to understand the concepts of math and how they are applied. Lectures are clear and organized, with notes and all! Don't use your cell phone during a test or talk during his lectures. This class is great for a serious college student!
Not very clear in lecture. But makes himself available for help a lot.Seems to enjoy teaching & helping students one on one, which is wonderful in a subject that can trip you up quickly.Exams are hard & homework demanding. But it's doable since he'll help in his office hours
Very good teacher who requires alot of effort from the student. If the effort is there you will no it by the end of the semester.
Hard Exams...and he is very unclear in his lectures....be careful!!!!!
He's an awesome teacher and he tends to cut you slack if you go to all the classes and answer his questions. I got an A and didn't really break a sweat.
awesome teacher. calc was a hard class, but he answers any questions and makes himself available if you need help. didn't allow calculators and he gave some tough exams. also, don't talk in his class and turn off your cell. other than that, he's pretty easy-going. definitely enjoyed his class.
This class was kinda weird, but he definitely helps you through it. He's patient if something is unclear and helps out a lot if you just show a little effort. Overall, he's a great teacher.
I was really nervous before taking this class cuz it had been a couple of years since my last math. The class was hard, but he is a great teacher. He really made himself available, and thanks to him, helped me rebuild my confidence in math. Mr. Morris, you're awesome!!
Mr. Morris is the best math teacher I've ever had! His lectures were concise and very helpful. He really emphasizes the basic blocks and tackles as opposed to the Hail Mary's and fancy footwork. Concepts and correct application are priorities. Tests were quite difficult, but he always tries to be available out of class to help. He is enthusiastic about math and very knowledgable about his subject. His laid back appearance and teaching style helps him fit in and connect with students.
He really knows his stuff, but he goes very fast. I spent more time writing things down than I did listening. As long as you study and go in for help as often as you can (I didn't do this, unfortunately), you can do fine. He's kind of mean sometimes, so don't talk in class and set your phone to silent and you'll be ok.
Don't get scared on the first day. Do the work and there are lot of chances for extra credit. You never leave the class without changing your mind about mathematics.
This is the hardest math class i have ever taken my whole life. Morris is a great teacher, but the material is too damn hard. There is a lot of hw in this class, and exams are hard. Luckily he is a nice guy and he let me pass with a C even though I had something less. Just show up to class everyday and do all your homeworks and hope for the best.
Very nice, but if you want an A, don't take his class. WARNING: Pre-tests look nothing like the actual tests.
Very demanding. Expect lots of serious work, ahead. The payback? You will finish the semester feeling very confident and competitive in math. If you plan to continue to a higher level of math in the following semesters, Mr. Morris is your best choice, by far.
Difficult class, very helpful professor.
MORRIS IS THE TIGHEST TEACHER IVE HAD SO FAR AT LPC..HE WAS MY STOGIN BUDDy..yhea but hes a very good teacher..all you have to do is pay attention and do the homework..and the tests will be very easy..i really reccomend him..his class was very fun because he has a lot of jokes...
Guy is a freaking genius. One of the finest math professors at LPC. His test are hard but he is an extremly good and effective teacher. You will learn in his class if you put in the effort that you should, on the other hand don't expect to be able to just get by that will not happen, u must do your part he has a teach def. do his.
Skips steps
best teacher ever. very helpful and kind of funny. he knows his subject very well and will explain step by step. the best at teaching this subject
I like the guy,he helped me very much, but it didn't work out for me. He hated to see me drop the class, still will greet you when he sees you and ask after you!!! He's really a sweetie!!! I wish I was able to stay in the class!!!
Mr. Morris is one of the bets math teachers i have ever had. coming into college and not doing math for senior year in HS, he made math easier then it was. His lectures arent the most enthusiastic but if you are in need of extra help like i was, you can count on Mr. Morris. I would recommend him!
mr. morris was a great teacher. he grades the homework, gives easy to understand notes, and provides study guides and reviews for the test the day before. his tests are fair and you are only tested on what you have learned in class. i enjoy math, but i would definately recommend him for anyone who is struggling or dislikes math.
Mr. Morris is above and beyond helpful. He stayed with my during breaks and after class to help me understand the material. The lectures he give are very clear and he writes the notes in such a way that is it easy to go over later. Grades the homework, offers extra credit, and is very clear with what you need to know for test. Great Guy!
Best math teacher I have taken. He is extremely helpful and a nice, funny guy. I recommend him especially if you have trouble with math.
MORRIS IS A GREAT TEACHER!! HE IS A FUNNY GUY & MAKES MATH EASY TO UNDERSTAND. HE WORKS WITH YOU UNTIL YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE WORK. HES DEFINITELY THE BEST MATH TEACHER & THE HOTTEST.
took math 1&2 with him. definitely not an easy A! he's a good teacher and very helpful. tests are extemely hard compared to other math teachers but he's pretty generous with extra credit. do the hw!!
Hard, hard, hard. Take somebody else's class.
lots of homework. gives plenty of EC. tests much HARDER than other teachers'. no calculator allowed.
He's very clear and helpful, always available if you need to ask a question. The tests were fair if you did the homework, pretty easy grading.
Hands down the best math teacher I have had. Extremely helpful and always available to help inside and outside the classroom. Just pay attention to his lectures and do the homework. I would recommend him to students who are science majors.
morris is a great teacher except his tests are way hard! easy to comprehend lectures, homework is easy, practice test is easy, but the exams and final were way hard and nothing like textbook problems. lots of opportunities for extra credit but had to work hard for my grade!
very helpful for homework problems and care about students who pay attention to his lecture. funny but don't ever late for his class. he will tell you the history of math which is in a interesting way and make math more attractive. pay attention during the class so he give you a hint what he expect from his students for the exam. recommended.
He holds his students to a high standard and the material was challenging but he provides all opportunities for succes, however you as the student need to do due diligence and put in the time to succeed. Also he is very fair, if you do poorly either you are out of your league or you didn't put in the time
Mr. Morris has always been very clear in his lectures. His daily assignments keep you on track. If you seriously pay attention to what he teaches you will do quite well in his course. Exams are a bit on the harder side.
Good teacher. Challenging tests, but he is very willing to help with any questions you have during office hours. Would recommend him.
Very awesome person, and an even better teacher. Goes over all the derivations very well, and shows how to apply them. Never had a better teacher, I hope i can take more classes for him. If you can even get him, jump on it. His test are really really hard though, but he teaches really well so it makes you feel like you're really learning
Good class! But, you'll be required to take notes. If you miss a class, it's hard for you to pass.
He is a great teacher. Took him over the summer. His classes aren't very easy but he explains everything CLEARLY and answers all your questions. One of the best math teachers at Las Po. Actually he is the best math teacher. Take his class. HE IS AWESOME (no homo)
Taking cal with him. He's very clear with his lectures, gives out good explanation, a little bit of humor and a wise guy I have to say. The only thing I want from him is putting more difficult problems on his tests. They're not easy but not so tough either. (4.5 stars over 5)
Amazing teacher. His notes are well-written and easy to understand. His tests are hard, but you get extra four percent on tests if you try a problem in front of class during test review. He wants you to learn and ace the class!
He's kinda lazy. Never make you simplify stuffs. You think it's cool but when you reach higher math levels than cal 1, you'll get it. Tests have nothing special, let me be straight, too easy? No challenges, and there are hints about what techniques you should use to approach integration problems, he kills the flexibility. NOT RECOMMENDED
His exams were hard enough. I spend like 2 hrs in class finishing it up.
Extreme;y difficult.
Very structured lectures and coursework. Tough but good teacher.
Morris is a unique teacher. He is dedicated to his area and his comprehension shows in class. If you need help, office hours have proved far beneficial for many students. Although intense at times, Morris moves through material without getting off track, thus allowing a strictly academic environment to thrive. Getting behind is near fatal here.
His lectures are very fast paced. He never gets off track, so there is a lot of time for him to show you example problems. I would use up 3-4 sheets of paper each class. Heavy amount of homework and tests are difficult. Very helpful if you get stuck. Makes an effort to give you feedback on homework and exams. Would recommend.
His lecture was sometimes straight out from the textbook. If you take notes, re-read what you've written, then it should have been no problem. If you want math 5, this is the opportunity to take him.
I have dyscalculia (dyslexia but with numbers) and math has always been very hard for me. I had to drop this class because he refused to help me or give me the proper amount of time I needed. I also felt that he didn't explain things well.
HORRIBLE! Although this is a night class which is attended by working professionals he does little to help them succeed. He has subjective grading and shows favoritism in class. His lectures are extremely fast paced so you have little time to learn the material in class. Unwilling to give out lecture schedule and HW assignments ahead of time.
very cool teacher as long as you pay attention and don't act like a five year old, lecture is fast paced but he leaves room at end of class for questions and examples.
He is def one of the hardest math teachers at this school, however he genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. Tests are extremely hard but he explains everything extremely well. He pushes you to become a better student & he's an awesome math teacher. Always willing to help during office hours, so def take advantage of that!
Mr. Morris is arguably the best teacher I've ever had. Best Math teacher by far. He is extremely passionate about the material. If you show effort and are respectful, he will reciprocate that generosity. His tests are extremely difficult, but he does prepare you!
The material of this class is very hard, however that is not a reason to discredit this teacher. Morris is everything I could have asked for from a calculus teacher. Very clear examples and teaching style making for excellent notes to review. Extremely helpful and encourages you to visit office hours. Grades fair. Fantastic instructor.
his tests are WAY too hard. I understand the material itself is hard but he makes his exams unnecessarily hard. He is extremely mean as well and his lectures are very fast paced, you'll easily spend the entire 2 hrs taking notes without stopping at all. And even though i prepared very well for his tests he always threw us some curve balls.
Horrible.Makes students feel stupid for asking questions.Strict about ridiculous things(being 1 minute late to class, not turning in your hw the SECOND you walk into class, takes points off hw for not using = signs correctly!) Tests are insane, makes you memorize every formula. Im retaking w/ Maiti and he lets us use notes on tests & hw is optional
Professor Morris explains how to solve problems amazingly well. He is huge on trig so expect that on the first exam concerning techniques of integration. His tests are extremely challenging so if you take his class, you better invest the time.
Explains concepts thoroughly however tests are very hard.
Phenomenal teacher in explaining concepts. Tests are new level brutal. Homework is very demanding. You don't pay attention in class? YOU ARE DONE. Plenty of office hours, be sure to take advantage of them. If you want the A, pick out the hardest questions in each section and be competent in solving them. Those concepts will be on the test.
Amazing teacher
Amazing Professor! Humble, and Helpful! Do pay attention, take notes, and stay awake. Otherwise you will suffer.
Prof gave us a prac final review totally diff from actual final. Only 211ques alike. He hinted 1-yr all ques fr ch16. Turns out half+ final were from earlier chpts. I'd A- but flunk the final. I just feel instead of lead us to study wrong materials when the subj is already so difficult, cant he gives us break not hint so I'd focus all chpts!
I took him in the Spring. Great guy honestly. Really attractive. Should wear skinny jeans lol kidding. You can only use a calculator on the calculator test. Lowest test grade dropped. I had to drop the class because I didn't need it for my major, otherwise I enjoyed the class! He gets angry, but its hot. Drew on my Hw's sometimes. What a character.
I wouldn't advise taking his class in the summer UNLESS you're willing to give up your whole summer. You definitely need to be ready to commit. His tests are brutal and he's pretty picky about his grading. However, he does offer help if needed and he's pretty clear about what he wants. I would take it in the springfall but not in the summer.
He has a lot of petpeeves, but other than that, he is an excellent teacher. All In-class examples help with the homework, which is basically what he will put on the test. Master the homework, and you'll master the test. He does make you remember alot of trig though. Know the tricks he likes to throw and you'll do just fine.
One of the best math professors on campus because of the way he lectures. The way he does problems and explains them is systematic so you can emulate his steps and do all the homework exercises. While the tests are difficult, he gives you study guides that are helpful and contain problems relevant to the test. Ratings are low because of difficulty.
Took Math 1, Math 2, and Math 3 with Jason Morris. Awesome guy, incredible lectures. Best professor I've had at Las Positas College. Tests are difficult, but there is nothing on any test that he has not done an example similar to.
He is the best teacher I've ever had! His examples are clear and very helpful and he is always willing to help. I wish I could take all math classes with him.
Jason Morris is the best math teacher I've ever had and I highly recommend that everyone take his classes. I've taken him for Math 2, 3, & 5. He gives very clear notes during lecture for you to study from and his tests are difficult but also reasonable if you know the material. He puts a lot of trig stuff from Math 2 on the tests in Math 3 & 5
Great lectures. Fair guy; tests were based on what you learned in class. He also gives out tests from the previous semester. Just study reasonably hard and you wont get burned on tests.
Morris is a tough grader. This would not be a problem if he was a better professor. His lectures are extremely fast paced and he skips many steps while lecturing. This makes the material more confusing than it already is. Seems nice enough but gave a few students more time to study for the final. Would NOT recommend.
I took Morris Spring 17. We started off with 40 and only 21 took the final of whom only 12 passed w/ 3 A's. Yes, it's hard, it's Calc 2 what do you expect? I'd recommend re-doing in-class examples without any help b/c he won't ask anything that hasn't been covered in lecture. Do tons of extra practice problems it'll def help you. Awsm Prof Overall
He will skip steps of problems during class making it hard to follow along and will make the tests needlessly hard. Some types of problems won't be in the study guide for the tests. One problem he put on a test, 2 people go it right and it was 10% of that test, nice enough but really hard grader
He is a great person, Great professor but when it comes to his exams he could be a bit Evil. Also I should Mentioned how much he is obsessed with trig. He will put it trig in all his exams that incorporate calculus based concepts with them.
Hes not a good teacher. He cancelled a bunch of class and crammed our final review with our last test review. Only 3 people got a passing grade on the last test. Hes just not good at explaining. And hes tests were basically all the hardest problems of all the concepts.
I took Calc 1 and 2 and got As with not much sweat, but when I walked into the tests this teacher gave us I would nearly fail despite doing the homework and studying for hours. I asked him for help once and he told me he already explained what I was asking in class, and he said "I don't know how you don't understand this." Not very helpful.
I would not recommend taking any classes with him to be honest. He flies through material and his tests are ridiculously difficult. He assigns a ton of homework in which doesn't even help you for these tests. There are no homework problems that'll prepare you for the test. Are you trying to fail people? Literally 1/2 the class failed or dropped.
Class is graded based on weekly homework, three tests, and a final. So don't mess it up. Homework is long (4-8 hours/wk). Showing up to the test review is very helpful. If you can ace the review, you can ace the tests. Lectures are basically him doing practice problems on the board, but it doesn't involve any class participation at all.
Fair grader. Practice tests are similar to the real tests. Homework is not excessive. Sometimes he yells at students but overall he has a good personality and keeps lectures fun.
I took this class during COVID and I have never taken a harder class. Keep in mind this is math 3, so its not my first experience with such a course. He doesnt take suggestions or constructive criticism and was disorganized. Test averages show failing averages. Grading Critera never clear. Terrible class averages for each test(40%-60%). Beware.
Calculus 3 is no easy class but taking it with Professor Morris made it even more difficult. Class starts/ends right on time and he doesnt waste time. Moves along the material very quickly. He can be very disrespectful when questions are asked. Assigns a lot of homework that isnt relevant to test. Your grade is mainly based on the four tests.
No amount of preparation ever got me ready for the tests. They were crazy difficult, and it didn't matter how many hours I spent studying. Had absolutely no hope of passing, so along with thirty students, I dropped the class. If you want to pass a class, don't take him. The tests never had anything to do with the homework as well. It was not fair.
Took Math3 and Math7 w/ him, but would have not taken the latter if there was another option. Quite an arrogant individual although he certainly knows what he's doing. Yelled at a student in class for asking a question but pretty good at explaining concepts. Pacing is a bit weird- final unit of Math3 was like 2 weeks long which is far too short.
tests are 90% of the grade and he doesn't allow calculators/cheatsheets on tests, so if test-taking isn't your forte i'd recommend a diff professor. i was super intimidated & had a lot of test anxiety in the beginning of this class, but he's actually very helpful and understanding if you just talk to him honestly / ask questions! also his cat yells
Tests make up an overwhelming majority of your grade, and homework can take up to a whole day if you don't get started early. The lectures are mediocre and he sometimes realizes he's done a proof wrong in the middle of proving it. Test review does not prepare you for the test at all, and the time limit is unrealistic to say the least. BEWARE!
You know its bad when he says thats this is his best discrete class and the test average was a 70%. There are 3 exams (55% of grade) and a final (30% of grade). He doesnt give partial credit and his test reviews are not helpful. His teaching isnt the best and he messes up on proofs a lot which confuses everyone. Take someone else if you can.
Never in my 19 years of school have I seen an instructor worse than him. This man clumped our 3rd exam and final on the same week without warning because of his scheduling. He went 30 minutes explaining a proof one time and realized he was wrong because he didn't go over his notes before class! Avoid him like the plague.
I have never had a professor this bad. I wish I had never taken him. He is very disorganized and lectures are poorly executed. He would almost never answer any of your questions because he would be in a rush to finish covering up the material that he needs to cover for the class. Although he really knows his subject well, he is terrible at teaching
A month into the semester and I know I have made a mistake choosing this professor. The tests and final combined are worth 90 percent of your grade! The other 10 percent is homework assignments which are very lengthy and unreasonable. Also he is picky with homework and docks you points on the smallest things, so don't expect to get full credit ever
Makes 3 tests and final 90% of your grade. Uses Proctorio to record you testing in online classes. Homework takes a whole day to complete. Don't expect consistent full marks. If the tests are a minute late, you will be given a ZERO. He'll drop the lowest score out of 3 tests though.
I think this professor is fair. I'm glad his attendance is not mandatory, as I find it easier to go over his lectures on my own time. I find his teaching very clear and helpful; however, his classes are very content-heavy. If there's one thing I dislike, it's his grading system. 90% is on exams, and he assigns 40+ problems to only pick 5 to grade.
Would not recommend
Professor Morris is an incredible lecturer; he constantly draws connections to relevant areas of physics and engineering, and almost always shows the graphical representation of whatever concept he's explaining. He is very clear about his expectations for work on homework and exams, as well as any formulas you need to have memorized.
He was very disrespectful and condescending whenever you would ask a question he deemed to be "stupid". Overall not a nice professor.
Lectures are very heavy and boring, but thorough. He can and will yell at students if they ask a "dumb" question or if the question's already been answered, even if in a previous class. Grades homework based off of 5 problems out of 30-50, if you get one wrong, it's 20% off the entire assignment. He does know what he's talking about, though.
Morris could be a jerk at times, but his class was well structured. Tests were easy if you did the homework and the practice test. Great to take for an online class because his lectures are not interactive whatsoever, but he goes over everything you need to know. He gives a lot of homework. I had to try really hard, but I also learned the stuff wel
Yells at students for asking simple questions, grades 30-50 problem long homework assignments off of 5 problems so if you get one wrong, it's 20% off your grade. Very boring lectures with so many unnecessary proofs. Would've taken any other professor if I had any other option. He is retiring, though.
I remember taking this guy's Linear Algebra class a few years ago, showing up to his first class, and immediately dropped him because I knew I would rather take it from someone else. Unnecessarily rude. His class smelled like cigarettes. Took the class from another person and did way better than I probably would have.
I took his classes trig/calc1-3/ODE/linear/discreet 12+ years ago. Without a doubt I would not have been as successful in my engineering career if it wasnt for him. Every proof derived, every example shown, every corollary, axiom, touched on. Everything on the test would be taught and had examples. His classes forced me to get serious and be better.
