i liked him
Good teacher very clear notes
all notes online dont buy book dont take notes just read online notes easy A
Nice Guy. TERRIBLE teacher. Do not take for any upper level class. Non stop slides, you will not have a clue what is going on. Do Not Take!!
if you take macro theory, you must know calculus, or you will have a tough time, he assumes you understand challenging math. he's by far the worst professor i have ever had
worst teacher ever. without a doubt.
DO NOT BUY BOOK!!!!! All notes online and real easy, just study a little and you too can accomplish a B!!!!
Good Teacher. Easy to work with but only for ECON 306 class. take home exams
Class is fairly boring due to the insane amount of slide show presentations...tests are very very difficult...makes you write a 10-15 page paper!
Don't buy the book, everything is in a slide show presentation. He gives you a lot of work but he lets you work with a partner and the final is a take home exam . . .
Very Helpful...opportunities for extra credit
class is boring, but he is nice and the materials are easy. test is very straightforward.
easy class, open notes open book exams, final is take home. 4 problem sets, 2 projects, let's you work on those in group. uses SPSS for everything and if you want to have that program on your computer than buy the book comes with CD otherwise dont
very helpful! tests are straightforward and easy! as long as u go to class and do the worksheets tests will be a breeze. def take him...dont buy the book
Easy class, power point presentations a bit confusing but you will enderstand if you do the worksheets, exams amazingly easy... got over 100% in the class
Class is somewhat boring, but very straightforward. All of the lectures are available online in powerpoint, which means no notes to take and no book to buy! Also, all tests and homework is done in groups- very helpful.
Great teacher. Gives you all the notes you need and does not make you buy any books. His tests are exactly like the worksheets he goes over in class. Allows you to use notecards on all tests. Easy A.
BORING! speaks in a monotone voice, doesnt explain well, creepy. I enrolled but dropped after the midterm b/c I kno I failed it. Take another professor if you can.
Easy A. Last project is confusing and his class is boring, but exams are very easy.
Boring, but best stat teacher. everything is on learn online. dont buy book. bonus points for coming to class and participating.
Probably one of the worst teachers i have ever had. His test are ridiculously hard. He speaks in a monotone voice and is not a fair grader. Also, a nerd.
This class was BORING. Nice, personable guy, tests are hard, although open note and take-home.
Projects are difficult, but if you go to him with questions, he is willing to help. No matter what, it's a boring subject, but at least he is a nice guy. Bonus points for attendance help wipe out any lower grades on tests/problem sets.
You must go to class to understand the material, if you have never taken a stats class. The material was hard, but he taught it well.
A great teacher. Explains everything, is a nice guy. Projects are a little annoying, but tests aren't bad. Highly recommended!!
very nice guy, saves stats and makes it easy, open notes tests, group problem sets, group paper, use SPSS,made me actually enjoy stats!!
Excellent professor!!! Highly recommended!
He make econ 306 easy, I think he done a great job. But, wow long project and exam. Don't explain well about the material, sometime it make you guess what he really want for the homework, project and the exam. He is a easy professor for econ306. Take It
This guy takes an upper level class back to the basics. He makes sure everyone keeps up and really seems to care about the students. The class can be a little bit tough, but he gives extra opportunities for extra credit, which is always nice.
He should be the easiest teacher for ECON 306. The exam are like the pratice exam. However, the projects, HW, and final took a lot of time. Well, what you expect, take home final!
He made the subject easy and comprehendible unlike other STAT teachers. Dark humor but keeps the class moving. DONT GET STUCK WITH A BAD GROUP. Tests and projects are fairly easy as long as you explain your answers.
not the best teacher, a lot of work i would have chose some one else
He's a good guy. He's got lots of silly jokes and he makes the material pretty clear. Most of the problems are done on the computer, which makes things easier. He also makes his exams pretty easy, and the homework is done in groups. If you need this class, definitely take him.
Nice guy, good teacher, very helpful. Gives extra credit for e-mailing questions and likes that students put forth effort, even if they aren't 100% right. I would def. take again.
He is the person you want to take 306 with. He made it clear the first class that he does not cover as much broad material, but what he does cover, he does in depth, and you will know it well. This was all true. GREAT at explaining stats. I hated 205, but did great in his 306 class. Just be sure to get into a good group!
Take his class. He makes the material understandable. He cuts classes short, and goes over material until you know it. Two tests, 4 problem sets, 2 group papers. Get a good group!
He is a really nice guy. He makes the class very understandable and if you have any questions, you can ask him at any time. He posts everything online and gives you tons of review stuff so that if you dont do well on one of his tests, its your own fault. great teacher, take him!
Good teacher, makes corny jokes, but atleast you're not falling asleep. Doesn't rely soley on tests, has problem sets and a project.
Great professor. Doesnt base grades on tests alone. A few group problem sets and one project. By far the best stats teacher at TU. Take him!!
He is a great teacher. really explains everything very well. easy to talk to if you have a problem. Makes Stats II a breeze. TAKE HIM IF HE'S avaliable.
If you need this class, take this prof. Group you are in counts for alot (problem sets, project), but this guy sets you up for success by explaining everything in detail.
What everyone else said..the hands outs he puts online and practice exams make the midterm and final a piece of cake. LOTS of group work, he stops teaching when he runs out of room on the board. Funny guy though, laid back but seems to give everone B's no matter what. Good teacher, I'd recommend him, makes things very clear.
Palmateer is the man! Make sure to get in a good group though. Mid-term, final, a couple problem sets and project and your good. Also, gives 30 points extra if you come to every class. Overall nice guy. Would definitely take again and he is the ONLY teacher i would take for 306
Prof. Palmateer was excellent. As long as you get in a good group in the beginning of the semester you will be fine. You can use an index card during your midterm and final so if you fail its clearly your fault. No homework, just problem sets and one project.
Take Palmateer. Laid back, not there as a drill sergeant, knows that statistics is not the only thing in the world. Very helpful in answering questions.
Professor Palmateer is awesome! He is helpful and teaches you everything step by step, so you know exactly how to do it. You have 4 problem sets, 2 exams, and a project. You will do problem sets & project with your group, so make sure you get in a good one. Let's you use notecard on exam and has practice exams that are almost alike online. Def take
Palmateer is an awesome teacher. He explains the material perfectly. I am not usually good at stuff like Stats and Accounting but I really understood this class. GET THE BEST GROUP YOU CAN. The project is extremely important.
great guy! very helpful! notecards on tests (2 tests only) are allowed. Difficult material, but awesome prof. ask questions for help, not a problem. group project is key, START EARLY!
Such a great teacher. Answers everyone's questions to make problem sets and project easy. Stats 2 could be a hard class but he makes it enjoyable and easier. Take him!
WOW, extremely good teacher for this course. He presents the material so clearly and uses great examples and analogies. Took during summer semester so there were 4 exams and a group project, no homeworks.
He is the one of the best teacher that I've ever taken in Towson. 70% is from mid terms and final. If you go class and listen to him, you will be fine in all exams. Rest 30% is project. It just takes time for a while. He allowed us to bring memo card during exams. I'm pretty sure if you take his course, you will like him.
Dopey man who knows his stuff. Make sure you can get a reliable partner for the project, and it helps if they show up for class and have some understanding of the class. Exams are fair and he is very helpful...easy b.
I took this class over the summer.I was scared of this class cuz I barely passed stat 1. He is a good teacher but not clear at times. 4 tests and a huge group project. It seems like way to much work but he is a reasonable guy and will help you in anyway possible. I actually got a B in this class. Pay attention and show up for class, its that simple
Palmateer is cool as hell. I got a D in stat 1, and then a C when I retook it. I have a 99 in his class and the final is in a couple weeks. He's the best math teacher I've ever had.
Come to class take notes and learn a get a general understanding of the material. Practice exams are excellent material to study for exam. Finally, choose a GGOD group and start early on your group project..Got a "B"
pretty easy class. study the practice exams for the 3 tests and you'll get an easy B. grades kinda hard. 30 extra points for perfect attendance, out of 1000 total. a long, hard project worth 30%- start early and do it as you do the tests cuz its the same material. gives 5 free classes to work on project. can go to other class times. take him!
Palmateer is like Mr. Garrison from SouthPark...mmmmmmkaaaaay! He is really laid back but still manages to be an excellent professor. Much better than some of the other stat professors (::coughcough::) His grading is fair, attendance mandatory and exams straight forward. No curve balls. I definitely recommend him for statII.
He is a very nice teacher!!! He is very helpful and wants you to pass. Do the practice exams and study. He does take attendance. Just pick something easy for the group project and start early. I got a B in the class. I didnt do well on the first exam, but the next ones I studied and did well on final project.
I took his summer class. There were 4 exams including the exam. For the first 3 exams, your highest test score counted as 20% of your grade, the next highest was 15% and the lowest was 10% of your grade. The prject is worth 30% so pick a good team. Overall, great professor, didn't use the textbook at all, don't buy it. I wound up with a B-.
Great teacher! He makes the material sooo easy to understand. 2 tests (easy), 1 final (hard), and 1 group project (moderate). Take good notes and you'll get an A. The final is hard cuz the material is more complicated. He gives extra points for attendance. Take Him!!
This teacher is very clear about what he wants. I will agree you have to write it word for word from the notes on the test but that makes it easy he spells it out for you. everything is online just go to class and try and youll pass, a lot better then most stat teachers towson has to offer!
I liked coming to this class. Professor Palmateer is very clear about expectations. I generally understood everything he presented in his lectures. You will have a group project. 3 exams and project are the only grades. Take him if you can. Save money, do not buy the text.
He does not respond to any emails, nor is he very helpful during the class. You ask him a question, and he gives you a rude response. I took him because of all of the good ratings on here, but after taking his class I completely disagree with it. Although, you can save money by taking him because not once do you use the book throughout the semester
This professor is the best out of all econ306 professors. It is really easy, 2 exams and 1 final and a group project. I just study the practice exam he posted on blackboard before the exams and get A. dont get the book. never used the book.
Pretty good for a econ 306 teacher. don't buy the book you will not use it once all semester. 2 exams and a non cumulative final. he posts practice exams on blackboard, study those you will do well on all the exams. one group project. easy a if u study
This class is an easy B or C, depending on the kind of student you are. Attendance is key & he tells you excatly what is on exams. Just take good notes and study. Don't except to just "get it." Pick a good group for the project. He is always willing to help.
Nice, laid back guy. I learned a lot but the class is very hard. His practice problems from the 1st test didnt resemble the test. The class average was a 60. Why? Why do teachers get satisfaction out of half the class failing? The group project has a lot of busy work, but it helps you understand concepts for the final. Overall, not satisfied.
Extremely talented teacher! Prof. Palmateer creates enjoyable lectures, is very helpful and very friendly. Students learn quite a lot from him and in a laid back manner. He grades like a statistician; by mean and STDV. His tests might be somewhat difficult but he will guide you through them and give out study guides which closely mimic the test.
He gives hard tests and the average grade is always failing. He's not very social and is happy with the average being faling. He tests cannot be completed in one hour and fifteen minutes. He does not post grades on blackboard. This class is alot of work for students. There is no study guide; which is probably why the average is always failing.
If you come to class and actually pay attention, he teaches everything you need to know to pass the tests, which are mostly SPSS on the computer. Not really any homework, one group project that's fairly simple. He doesn't take attendance and usually goes over things from previous classes so it won't be too bad if you miss a day or two
Very hard class, however continue to ask Prof. for help. Go to tutors on campus...all I can say is try your best. I passed with a C, thought I was going to fail.
BEST TEACHER IVE HAD AT TOWSON! the material can be tough but he stays in point and doesnt weigh you down with too much at once. if you go to class and copy his notes you will learn every thing you need to know to be successful! his tests can be tough but if you try your best you will be rewarded! make sure you pick a good group for the project!
I thought the class was kind of difficult but he is a good teacher who explains the work excellently. I definitely recommend him. Tests were hard though
Never uses the book: ALL lecture notes. Not a lot of practice problems you can do... so you either get it or you dont. He speaks clearly and makes it well known what will be tested on. He seemed more than happy to answer questions as they came up. He was available if you needed him. He could care less if you came to class. Not an easy A but doable
good professor, willing to help. doesnt use text at all only class notes. study practice tests and write word for word like he does in the examples
As long as you go to class ad take good notes you will pass. The tests are hard but he lectures on everything you need to know
This is the guy to take for ECON 306. He doesn't take attendance, doesn't use the book, and doesn't get stuck on stupid stuff. His tests are literally the problems he shows you in class. Its not an easy or fun course, its incredibly tedious, but take him if you have to take it.
Very nice professor. He doesn't use the book or take attendance. His tests are easy and he always gives review sheet before tests, which are identical to what's on the test. The project may take some time, but if you have a good group, you don't have to worry about anything.
Best professor to take ECON 306 with. No textbook, no attendance but worth going. Makes things easy and always willing to answer questions. Subject isn't easy but he makes it easier to understand.
The course is somewhat better than ECON 205 but I didn't really like the professor that much. He is a tough grader and his tests are somewhat difficult. Studying the practice exams help though. Not much grades to speak of. 2 tests, a final, and a project and that's it.
No textbook needed at all. He only grades on 3 tests and one group project (plus participation). The tests are hard. They're about 5 questions long, each question is worth 20-60 points, but if you do the sample tests and read over the lecture notes, it's not too hard to get an "A". He never answers e-mails. Explains the material very well.
He's an okay Professor. 2 tests, final, and a group project. He's kind of unclear on what he expects on the tests, but generally they are very similar to the practice tests. Kind of lame that the group project is due the last day of class. I was expecting an A- but I got a B due to his tough grading on the group project.
Palmateer is nice and funny, the thing that really bothered me though is he is unnecessarily tough and nit-picky grader. You could thoroughly understand the material and get like 15 points of for something silly. I would still take him, just pay attention to exactly what he wants on the tests and project.
Stats is a challenging subject regardless of the professor. Everything graded is online and he gives 30 extra credit points if you show up to every class.
If you have to take stats, take it with Palmateer. He is very nice, helpful, and explains everything well. Just show up to class and take good notes and you should be set. He allowed us a notecard for the tests and a full sheet for the final which really helped. Show up every class for an easy extra 30 points
He is a great professor. He takes attendance but going to class isn't bad because he explains everything very clearlyat a good pace and makes sure everyone understands. The material can be difficult at times, so I definitely recommend studying a lot for exams. There are problem sets online which aren't too difficult and can help boost your grade.
4 exams, weekly homework online, no study guide! Study for exams & take notes in class to do well on the homework & study for exams. Dont really need the textbook.
For business students, do NOT take this class rather than EBTM 306 if you can avoid it. I took it instead because it fit better with my schedule but that was a HUGE mistake. Prof Palmateer is extremely unhelpful and condescending to students who do not understand the material that is poorly explained in the first place and he will not help you.
He's an average teacher. If you show up to every class you get 3% added to your final grade. There are three tests and a final. The one you do worst of is only weighted 12.5% while your beat text is 20%. Here are weekly assignments. If possible I would not buy the textbook because I hardly used it.
Absolute worst teacher Ive had in 4 years of college. The entire(not exaggerating)class failed 3 straight quizzes and he still decided to have a test after a snowday. On top of everyone failing the quizzes on"taught material"he included material that he didn't teach. He doesnt even use his own material he pulls it from another professor hes a joke
He wasn't a good teacher. He understood the material fine but that doesn't mean he could convey it. He also used another professor's powerpoints and constantly talked about how the other professor taught. Truthfully, he wasn't very nice either. No benefit in taking his class.
He is a nice teacher. But the material is hard, and we only use computer. His tests are hard. Take him if you need to.
The class itself and material are tough, but he uses everything on the computer which makes it easier. You just have to go to class to learn how to use the computer program. Palmateer is a nice guy and very helpful but it's not a class you can breeze by without working. Take him if you can.
Palmateer was very condescending, and not very personable. I had the flu and a doctor's note, the day of an exam and he told me I couldn't take it, and that my other tests would be weighted more heavily when I studied hard for that exam. When he teaches, he teaches fast and when you ask a question, makes you feel dumb. Would not take again.
Will have to work in this course, tests are tough. 3 tests and a final. Homework assignment every week and gives extra credit for attendance.
Prof. Palmateer is a goofy and sweet man. He is very thorough and tries to be clear, but don't expect an easy A. Class is HARD! Average class grade on exams is around 60%, but he gives plenty of quizzes/assignments to boost that and curves. Big end of the semester project also saves a lot of grades. All in all, I enjoy his class and personality.
Statcrunch is the best part of this class, it makes the class a lot easier! Palmateer is a cool guy and a good teacher. Pay attention to his lectures and take notes... you get a 1/2 sheet of paper cheatsheet front and back for each midterm and a full sheet front and back for the final... saved many students butts for these exams! Good teacher!
Stats is naturally a hard class, but he tries his best to make it easy. The class is a bit hard but not unbareable. Stat crunch makes things a lo easier but you just have to remember how to use it for different types of problems. class is 4 exams which you can have a half sheet of paper for. Homework is very helpful in boosting your grade. take him
He is a nice guy, soft spoken and funny sometimes. Lectures are hard, you have to study to keep up with the class. He gives you extra credits for attendance and other things. Not a lot of homework, but enough to help you understand the material.
Pretty average stat class. Guy is pretty easy going. Tries to be funny. There is extra credit every where in this class. Show up to class. Not a ton of homework, but enough. Tests aren't insanely hard, and he lets you have a piece of paper with notes on it. Textbook isn't 100% crucial, but mystatlab is. Everything done through that, not blackboard.
THE BEST. He is literally the most helpful professor and his class is difficult, but he does everything he can to be understanding and helps you really understand the material so you can pass. Online homework every week and a quiz every week but his assignments are very very fair and if you pay attention in class you will do well.
Palmateer is a good professor. Im currenly 3/4 into the semester and i still have a 91% in the class. He tries to be funny and easy going. Homework due every week. 3 tests in total, u can have 1/2 sheet of paper for it. Final is cumulative. DONT BUY TEXTBOOK!! Get the statlab though. that is necessary bc he doesn't do anything on blackboard.
Aced my first stats class thanks to this guy. So willing to help you with anything, always explained things in detail, & clearly wrote out everything we needed to know on the board. The program we used was very user friendly. Come to class, get extra points. Best incentive for an 8am ever. Literally words cannot describe how great he is! Take him!
Solid choice for Statistics. MyStatLab made this class so easy. he lets you know exactly what will be on the tests and even gives you identical practice tests the week before. If you pay attention to what he says you will be fine.
I LOVE MR. PALMATEER!! He's so funny and adorable. Everything we do in this class is online, so the homeworks and the tests are through this website called STATCRUNCH. You will definitely need to buy this, it's a little on the expensive side but if you come to class you'll get an A. Take notes, because you get a half sheet of notes for the tests!
Palmateer is awesome!!! Wish i could take him again!! He is very helpful if you have any questions and responds to his emails so fast! He posts exam reviews about a week before his exams which are so helpful!! Take him if you can!
very boring guy, sounds like peter griffin, and his voice will go right threw your head.
Palmateer is a great guy! I took Manley for 205 and Palmateer for 306. I liked Palmateer a lot better. 3 tests, weekly hw assignments, weekly in class quizzes, final project, and gives extra credit opportunities. I recommend taking him over Manley if you have a choice. Supposed to buy a statistics program, SH has it program on all the computers
Professor Palmateer is one of the best professors at TU. he is very easy going and always willing to help. he showed interest in students as individuals and was always available for consultation during his office hours. I took him for econ305 and econ306 and would take him again. gives extra credit opportunities and attendance in mandatory.
Nice guy knows what he's teaching. Gives feedback and willing to help. if you have questions ASK!! There shouldn't be a reason not to get an A. Took over the summer and it was a decent amount of information but it was manageable. Hes sometimes funny and always nice. if you have the chance to take him go for it. he's a solid professor!
He's alright. Definitely not a bad professor. Just do the work assigned, have a good cheat sheet during the test, and you should be fine.
Prof Palmateer covers all of the material in detail and if you pay decent attention, everything makes sense. He answers any questions very well. All work and exam are entirely online and you can use a cheat sheet. Extra credit if you miss less than 3 classes. Beware: lectures are dry and boring but easy A.
The entire class is on StatCrunch and all of the actual work is extremely easy. He takes attendance so make sure you show up to class. He spends a lot of time talking about irrelevant formulas and stuff, so just know the things on StatCrunch and you're golden. He gives extra credit and you can have a notecard on every test so it should be an easy A
Honestly my favorite professor. I took this for my major and it was super fun but somewhat challenging at the same time. He is very friendly and helpful. Understands that some people might now be able to make a certain class on time so he gives option to attend one of his other classes lectures to recieve credit. Note card on exams also allowed.
Professor Palmateer was very nice and gave you the materials needed to pass this class. Extra credit for attendance was the best. Lots of homework but it helps keep your grade up. Would suggest taking him!
1.5% is added to final grade if you don't miss a class. Jason is a good teacher the way he teaches in class is the exact thing that you will see and have to preform for the exams using the stat crunch software. This course is not hard at all. Going to class is defiantly important or you'll be lost go to class take notes and study you'll get an A.
The tests (3 & a final) and homework (twice per week) are online, but you have to go to the classes. It relies heavily on the computer program, so you hardly have to do any math by hand.
Professor Palmateer is a pretty good professor. He takes time in the beginning to make sure everyone is comfortable using STATA. Even though attendance is not taken, I'd recommend going to class as lectures are key to doing well. 2 midterms, 6 quizzes, 9 labs, project and final. Overall, I would totally recommend him!
He is a great professor. He adds video presentations on blackboard which are very helpful, basically the class over again. He is funny and very kind and wants you to do well. He rewards perfect attendance with 15 points!
Professor Palmateer's class was actually pretty interesting, but make sure you pay attention. The class is pretty much all on stat crunch and he goes over examples so make sure you go to class. Tests are pretty straightforward and there are a lot of opportunities to raise your grade.
Pros: can bring a note card to all exams, extra credit for attendance, can submit hw late for partial credit, entire class is on Statcrunch. The only downside really is he tends to ramble and include unnecessary concepts, which can be confusing. Just learn to filter out what you need and take really good notes! 3 exams, 1 final, tons of homework.
Professor Palmateer was an amazing professor!! He gives tons of extra credit. The exams are worth a lot of points, but they aren't super hard if you study, plus he allows a notecard for each one, including the final. Take the practice exams multiple times in order to prepare yourself for the actual exams. Do not study the homework!!! It won't help
Awesome prof. I was never good at math and after taking Stat TWICE he finally made it all make sense. Everything is on statcrunch - even tests - which makes it so much easier and he allows you to have a sheet of notes for every test. The study guides are literally the test so as long as you look over them youre guarenteed to get at least a B
He is my favorite professor at Towson so far. Statistics is hard but he makes it super easy. He is very clear and lectures are easy. I did all my homework in class and for his exams, he gives you practice exams that are exactly like the real exam.
Prof. Palmateer is the best teacher I've had at Towson. He explains things very well and uses real life examples to help you understand better. All of the homework and tests are online (even before class switched to online), so if you don't like that I'd stay away. He is very funny and caring and allows a half sheet of paper with notes for tests
LOVE him so much, great professor, I would recommend him to anyone who needs to take this class. He is a great teacher and explains everything very well. Going to class helps you understand the homework and then the homework is a lot like the tests so its kind of a domino effect. If you pay attention in class, you will do great in his class.
Pro: Palmateer is a great instructor. His class is very easy all you need to do is just watch the lectures & complete the practice exams in order to do well on the actual exams. Con: He's not understanding, especially in a pandemic. Questions you may email & ask him, he doesn't answer & instead gives snarky, undermining replies that aren't helpful
I am AWFUL at anything math related but professor Palmateer actually made me understand literally my first time ever getting an A on any sort of math exam! His teaching style is great. Watch some videos and do the problem set for the week! And then once a week he will have class (that's essentially optional) to do the types of problems for the week
Simply pay attention and youll be able to do well. The class was quite easy so long as you did the work - which there wasnt much of. About one hour of homework a week and an exam every 3-4. Dont rely on curves or anything though.
Having a learning disability math has never been my strongest subject. However, Prof. Palmateer was always available after class via Email to answer my many questions to help me pass! The online format was simple a few homework quizzes and tests. You have a few chances to improve your first score. Lastly, be sure you watch lecture videos.
SubhanAllah, I originally has an awful mean professor for stats and God opened an opportunity to have the last seat in his class. I am truly grateful because what one professor made sound so hard was made easy by this professor. If there are seats open in his classes, then grab the seat dont worry about the timing of the class. Give him a raise!
No one comes to class but if u come to class you'll definitely get an A He posts videos online as well and there is one question at the end of each video that you get credit for The videos explain what is learned in class he literally makes it so easy to get an A
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go if you want an explanation on how to do the homework. The tests are the EXACT SAME as the practice exams he posts for us to do. You're allowed to bring a notecard to class when you take exams, and you can write whatever it is you want on it. Homework is average, watch his lecture videos!
Good professor! Does split classroom so you can technically pass without going to class but id recommend going. Make math so easy! Statcrunch does all the work for you so if youre bad at math, hes the professor for you.
One of my favorite teachers. He made stats very easy, especially for me because I failed regular stats. If you come to class and pay attention youll probably get an A.
Lectures are clear and he goes over lots of examples. These examples along with the study guides are very similar to the tests. Tests are easier than the homework. You get multiple chances on homework problems and he has a very lenient late policy on assignments. He is also very nice, caring and wholesome.
Professor Palmateer doesn't make class mandatory however I suggest you go as the material is very attention to detail oriented. You will do well if you do the homework and the practice exams are almost exactly like the exams. Put in the work and you will do well.
Professor Palmateer is a great choice for ECON205, the weekly problem sets are straight forward, I hate math and this course made me appreciate it more. I would recommend showing up to lectures if u need more guidance but they are optional. He sets up videos explaining how to do the questions that you might see in the problem sets/Exams!
He was a really great professor! I had taken him over summer and had a conflict with a long planned activity and he handled it so well. It was in person but he extended my exam time so I could have time to study and take it. Exams were online and go to class! Pay attention and you'll pass!
Very nice and cool guy. Im not good at math but he made the course so easy. He accepted late work, allowed a note card for exams, offered E.C and you got points for going to class. I highly recommend palmateer for this class.
attendance is not mandatory which is why I got a B, I skipped too many classes and wasn't prepared for some exams but if you go to class and pay attention it is an easy A. He is great and explains everything well.
Attendance isn't mandatory but I suggest you go to class to understand the material well. He is a very nice caring professor who is willing to help and answer any questions people have. Class wasn't too hard I struggle with math but this was easy because statcrunch does all the work for you. I highly recommend you take this him.
one of the best teachers i have ever had and made the content very understanding even if you dont have a strong background in stat!Take him.
I'm in his class right now and I like his class. The homework can be kind of tedious but he tells you exactly what will be on exams and if you have a question he is super helpful. The reason I have a C+ is my own lack of effort if you put in the work it's easy to get an A in this class.
Lowkey funny and fairly engaging for the topic. He tells you what you need to know and gives a great amount of extra credit. Getting the grade you want isn't too hard. Clear class layout, no surprises, good class.
I had Professor Palmateer for T-SEM. Professor Palmateer is just ok, in my opinion he is not well educated on essays. Although he gives feedback, most of it wouldnt work in your paper. He doesnt know the differnce between a rough draft and revised draft. He assigns a lot of work and he does not accept late work. He is nice, but not well with essay
He was just blah, all he does is post videos and yap. For a hard topic like Stat he does not explain enough. Had to drop because of his attitude.
I like Prof. Palmateer a lot. The class is difficult so you need to put in the work to do well. He offers a little bit of extra credit and homework is worth 30% of your grade so make sure you actually do it. His practice exams are identical to the real exams. If you work hard you will do well, I would take him again.
TSEM 102: beyond baseball. awesome professor. doesn't take attendance and classes just consist group discussions. a lot of assignments and papers, but overall easy course as long as you do the work. textbooks are needed in this class!! seems to actually care. gives really good feedback!
Professor Palmateer was a great professor who made Stats relatively easy to understand. You're going to need to put in the work to watch his videos, do the homework, and study in order to be successful. It's also critical to show up to class as he further explains the concepts and gives little tidbits not included in his videos.
Prof. Palmateer is awesome. Not an econ major but needed this class. Made stat easy to understand. Watch lecture videos and you're fine. Attendance not mandatory. Funny guy. Made the 8am worth it. No textbook but needed Pearson MyStatLab. Would take again!
Once you learn to use the statcrunch software, the class becomes SUPER easy. He gives out practice exams identical to the exams so there is no way to fail. I only got a C because I never came to class so I didn't learn how to do everything on the software and I missed 2 homeworks. Final exam is cumulative btw
I LOVED this course. It was fully online (no zoom) But his lecture videos are organized and will take you step by step through everything. Any time I had a question he would answer my emails in less than a day. Im ending with a B but if I just studied a little harder for the test an A would have been obtainable. Couldn't recommend this course more!
Professor Palmateer's ECON205 is a well-structured course. The lectures and practice exams are very helpful. Attendance is mandatory, but the material is manageable with diligent study. I found Unstuck ai and the textbook to be great supplementary resources.
Recently switched from stat crunch to excel, which I assume has made this course much harder. The first exam was very tough, course wide average being a 57%, but he made sure to make the next exam much easier to prep for. Overall its a good class and once he straightens out everything with excel the class will be even better.
Nice guy, but he does not understand anything about writing when it comes to seminar. His rubrics make no sense, and his feedback is just awful. Assigns way to much writing assignments but he has no understanding of it, making these assignments difficult.
Professor Palmateer recently switched from statcrunch to excel and you can really tell he is still adjusting to it unfortunately it really makes it more difficult for the students to understand because it feels like they are learning as the teacher is learning. He is a nice enough guy but the class material you have to learn for yourself.
Took this class because it was a prerequisite. He is a sweet individual but his lectures were a bit confusing/monotone so I spent a lot of time reteaching myself some things. As long as you do the homeworks, watch the panapto videos you will pass the class!
While I did have struggles with excel he worked to make things easier. You will do fine in this class if you watch his videos and put time aside to do things like review the data sets and practice exams.
Attendance is NOT mandatory however it is really important you go to the classes. The videos did not give as much clarity to me. The lectures are boring but just write down everything he does. 3 midterms and 1 final exam, you get a half sheet of notes on midterms and full sheet for final. He will help you if needed, overall great professor!
Professor Palmateer is a very kind and friendly dude to be around. This class wasn't the hardest but it still requires a lot of effort. The videos he posts were extremely helpful so part of the reason why I was able to get a high grade. I just crammed night before exams and even scored a 100% on exam 3! Pretty good professor for statistics!
Excel heavy so make sure you know how to use it. Good professor, 4 exams which helps if you do bad on one. Not a bad class at all.
Very calm and straightforward. Goes over how to solve problems in class so make sure to watch his videos if you want a more in-depth explanation. Pretty easy lecture, just a lot of excel formulas to work with for exams but you get to use a cheat sheet! Very knowledgeable and has a sense of humor.
TAKE HIS CLASS! I am not great at anything technical or math related. But his panopto videos were so well made, understandable, and easy to understand. I had no clue how to use excel beforehand, but I swear he magically made it all easy. Take the time to watch the videos, take notes, and most importantly PRACTICE.
Awesome professor and great class. Study hard for the exams though since they are pretty challenging
