He's pretty nice, he's willing to explain things if you don't understand them, but he doesn't give out reviews before tests...the good thing is that there are 3 quizes and 3 emams and 1 comprehensive exam...i totally recommend him..
very helpful and always available with tons of office hours. hes not "easy" but if you do your work, you wont have any problems. i really recommend taking his class. its hard to find good math teachers but hes one of them.
he'z not easy at all, he gives a lot of homework and it can be hard to keep up..and at times his tests have questions which he hasn't really covered..i bombed all my tests..hez nice though..a good persn to talk to...but not a good teacher
I thought he was a really great teacher who explained everything with clarity. The class was not so easy only because I'm not much of a math person but having him as a professor made it alot easier for me to understand.. and I understand it alot better!
nice guy not so nice teacher
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY UNLESS YOU WANT TO DO 30 HOURS OF HOMEWORKD A WEEK!!!!. I took this class with him, I spend loads of time doing homework. I got between 40-60% on his tests, did all the homework and he gave me a 0.0. I can understand getting a 1.0 but a 0.0 is ridiculous and unacceptable.
He is the most unreasonable instructor I have ever had, also the toughest grader. He thinks he is teaching at CalTech or MIT. He is also very rude to his students who aren't at the top of the class. He makes no sense and makes the tests harder than the material covered.
GREATEST TEACHER EVER..! he's the best..the only reason a lot of people dont' like him becuase he is a bit challenging...but you really wnat to learn then you'll have no probz..guaranteed
Greatest math Teacher I ever had. I learned so much in this class. People that rate him bad must be on crack and do poorly on math, because i couldnt find anything wrong with him. I love his teaching style because he engages the class. He doesnt just talk to the board.
I have nothing good to say about him. I am a 3.5 student and his teaching style is HORRIBLE. He can not relay subject matter effieciently, nor does he understand BUSINESS math. He is also a jerk. Be wary of going to office alone ladies, he will tell you some sobstory about how you can come to his office anytime because he doesn't want to go home.
Totally great math instructor. Really helpful and funny and ... I think he's an amazing teacher and I have nothing but great things to say about him. I highly recommend him. The curriculum is hard, and I think that is why so many people rated him poorly. I however agree with all the other students that said he is the best ever!
I really liked his teaching style and how helpful he was outside of class. Although it was a tough course, I was able to understand it and it became my favorite class. I can't wait to take 125 from him this fall.
awful teacher
He is one of the greatest teachers to grace the faith of this earth! I consider myself lucky to have been in one of his classes. He has a real passion for teaching and math and there need to be more people like him in the world.

Even thought I dislike math, he makes the subject easy to understand and fun to come to class.
tough as hell, but he made calc fun. way too much homework!
I'm in Math 125 with him right now. He's already helped me out a couple times. He's a nice guy, I don't know what the big deal is with other posters here. Subject matter is fairly clear to me.
I personally think hes a very good teacher..however..he is a bit difficult for most people..
He's not easy - but he makes math make sense! Take advantage of office hours - he really goes the extra mile to help you understand problems! Best math teacher ever - but not for the lazy...you WILL work!
Let me summarize Jason: Jason + any Math class = fun, easy, cool, and very helpful. You won't regret taking Jason Ramirez. I am sacrificing to take Jason's 7:30 p.m. class because that is how good he is. Highly recommended!
One of the best professors I've ever had. He teaches in a concise and clear way, and expects the students to work to earn their grade (which is how you learn). If you pay attention, attend class, and do the work, then you'll walk away a more educated person.
I love this teacher. He is a good teacher I have ever studied.
good techer but you have to do your work.
This is a really good class to take it you're not comfortable with math yet. He explains the math clearly and in a way that is not just repeating the text from the book. Be sure to do your homework, and you should be fine.
The best math teacher ive ever had!!!
This teacher is awesome. He teaching it in a way that everyone can understand. No use of textbook in class but you will on homework. He is also willing to help. HIGHLY RECOMEND. One of the best teacher I ever had!!
This teacher is for real. He will reach you. This is, by far, the best teacher I've ever had. He is very helpful with HW questions. Speaks loudly and clearly. His presence in a room commands respect and that is why I busted my butt in his class. GREAT TEACHER!!!
Nothelpful and arrogant.
waste of money.
He lays everything out, gives you copy of his notes, everything is SO organized. He gives you exactly what you need in all of his notes. All you have to do is be in class and do your homework. No surprises in the quizzes or tests, he prepares you for everything. Seriously the best teacher I have had period.
Professor Ramirez is a very skilled instructor. He explains things with great clarity and is willing to help you if you need it or, if you're advanced in math, even lend you a book or two. Definitely one of the best math teachers I've ever had.
This was the second time I had to take Math 124, and he made thing a lot easier to understand. Definitely a tough class, but I got a lot out of it and feel pretty prepaired for the next class in the series. Over a good prof.
He is awesome. The eloquent voice makes me awake every evening classes.
One of the best math instructors you will ever have. Very Clear, very organized, and his personality is great too. Take him if you get the chance
He was an okay teacher. At first it was hard to understand his way of teaching but a couple weeks in it went better. I don't recommend him unless you are really familiar with calculus.
grades hard on HW and tests
tests are hard HW is even harder
J said he was trying out a new system with no homework, seemed unconcerned that roughly 1/2 of his class was failing. Nice enough guy, but an unorthodox teaching style left me confused and frustrated on a daily basis. However, in fairness, many people seemed to do quite well. Take with caution, not a traditional math class.
Took precalculus 142 with and ended up passing it with a 4.0. He teaches with clarity and adores hard work. Those who are bragging about his teaching are DUMBASSES. He ain't suppose to feed ya math, you are the one who need to be willing to understand it. Overral, he is a fair instructor and his tests are pretty easy if you PRACTICE a lot.:)
He defines teaching! He proves everthing, there's no such thing as magic math in his class. He's scary very scary though. Had him for 4 quarters and till this day I'm afraid of him!If you want to learn math take him. If you're looking for somebody to baby you and hold your hand then he's definetely not the one.
He is a great teacher, he teaches with great clarity. If you don't understand what he is doing, just ask him and he will figure out a way for you to understand. His class is not hard at all, just study study study and you'll be good. If you're going into 152 make sure you're CONFIDENT WITH TRIG AND ALGEBRA... Just a little heads up :D
He is a great teacher, very helpful and clear. Although he is not very easy I would recommend taking classes from him
Jason is one of the best teachers I've had at Highline. His note packets are extremely helpful and give you a great idea of what to expect on a test. He is not the easiest teacher, he like to challenge his students, but he's not imposible either.
He is simply magic. He has been my superman!!!!!! I really wish he would teacher all other math course and physics too :S.Take him you'll never regret!
Yes he is magic. Wait till the final comes, hold yourself tight because you will pee right on your seat. I did and so as most. You will derive Newton's gravitation law, resistors, that's all. If you havent enjoyed the take home exams yet, you will definitely enjoy the final. God bless all of those who is not an eisnstien and taking him.
He is the best teacher when it come to teaching skills and also i like his packets which will help you do home quick and understand the concepts easily. I use to fail on math but Ramirez opened my eyes and showed me a new way to succeed. Yes i will recommend anyone who wants to understand math to take his class. math is hard but he is good at teach
awful.... no assignments and quiz points, and exams were hard. strict grading...take his class only if you don't care about your grade!!!
Spends more time complaining about what students DON'T know then actually teaching the subject. Not useful as an instructor. Arrogant and unkind as a person.
J is rude and hostile with students. He expects you to remember every tiny detail from classes you've taken before (as if you've used the material every day of your life). He uses class time to complain about students. His tests are harder then the homework and often have material you've never seen before! And he grades you really harshly.
He is not the easiest teacher, but he instills good learning habits in students. Gives out packets with each lecture topic which is helpful when doing homework or studying. He makes sure students that pass actually learn the outcomes, which is why the tests are hard. Gives a solid foundation for the next math course.
Best math teacher I've ever had.
Really cool and helpful, but hard and gives a ton of homework. Make note of his office hours when planning your schedule!
super helpful instructor! a lot of works! grade hard! make all the things clear! recommend to those who has good mathematics background, and who really want to learn. do all the works and studies, 4.0 is not a dream!
This man is the epitome of excellence, both as a teacher and scholar. Difficult, as math should be, but his rigor is incomparably valuable. Definitely the best math professor I've ever had.
Best math teacher i've ever had. Skilled, talented and "born for math" type of guy. He's a genius! Crystal clear and fabulous teaching techniques. You'll never feel sleepy even in 2 hour class. He is very funny. If you have new techniques to solve problems you'll be awarded with extra point in class. I know 1 guy in my class got 10 point extra...
Best math teacher ever! All you need to do in this class to get a good grade is to come to class, do the homework (but don't procrastinate), do the optional questions on homework sheet, and just ask questions in class if needed. This class was fun and entertaining.
He was an extremely thorough and helpful teacher.
My only class that received below 3.0 in my community college life... And I go to UW now.
knows his material and best teacher
Very hard class, but he knows what he's doing. If you're actually willing to work your butt off, it'll all be worth it. After his class I actually loved calculus, imagine that! But seriously, all those "stupid" pop quizzes and "insane" amounts of homework and killer tests will make math become crystal clear
Jason is a fair teacher. He obviously LOVES math! But he is a great teacher. Prints out notes and he is quite organized. Gets homework and tests back to you a day or two after.
Obviously loves math, loves teaching, and enjoys challenging his students. Funny and reasonably strict about things like missing class and cell phone usage. Would recommend!!
He is the best teacher if you are serious about your education and in life. If you are not, don't take him because you will fail if you don't take his class seriosly
He is a great, hardworking and passionate instructor. He communicates with students consistently, effectively and through REASONING. Attending lecture daily is EXTREMELY important. You will NOT be able to UNDERSTAND homework if you wish to not attend lecture. If you want to LEARN and be efficient with math, take Ramirez.
highly organized, high explanation, and give you a printout which i find it helpful; however,His tests are tricky and hard to predict. tests will mostly be very thing that was done in class. most think i found hard was level of imagination.
Really good teacher. really organized and smart. Knows his materials and gives really tough examples, which I find very helpful. his tests are so much easier than his homework and examples. If you get his homework, you're set for the test.
Jason is the best math teacher I have ever had and I recommend taking his class if you struggle with math. Only thing is, he expects you to act like an adult in college, if you're not serious about your academic career, you will fail his class. No quizzes or hw. I wish he was my math teacher for the rest of my college career !
Disregard what others say about Jason, if you read complaints it is likely that the students didn't apply themselves to the course work. He has high expectations of his students and expects an amount of maturity but he is also very fair. If you want to be well prepared for higher level math, take Jason.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had :) I've learnt a lot from his class and I'm going to take his class again for my Calculus course. Jason is not easy, so don't take his class if you're not serious in studying. For those who love math and major in math-related, trust me, you won't regret taking his class. I got 4.0, anyway :)
He's not easy, but it doesn't mean we can't get 4.0. I got 4.0, and honestly, he's awesome. Come to class everyday and do homework, then you will be fine. Highly recommend to every math lover out there.. He's the best.
Jason is awesome! When I took another math teach I wished I had taken him. He teaches both audio and visual for any type of learner. You MUST complete the homework to get a good grade. If not you WILL fail. He's very fair and not as hard as people say. If you are a good student you wont regret taking him.
Great teacher, not easy, so be prepared to work for your grade.
One of my favorite and most inspiring teachers. He makes me want to take every math class there is. Prepare to invest a lot of time on the homework if you want to get a good grade. If you do the self-assessments he provides, the tests are incredibly easy.
He is a very nice and thoughtful instructor ever. He is so patient with students. Sometime we missed understood due to the accent. However if I come up with questions about that he will explain every thing very details. The only thing I feel uncomfortable is there are so many assignments need to be covered in this class.
Ramirez is a great teacher. His explanations are amazing. He can take a difficult subject and just explains it so clear. If you can do his homework, you are all set for his test. there are two tests and a final. He will replace your lowest test score with the final score if it's high enough.
This teacher is incredible. He makes even the hardest subject so damn easy. His test is no where near "easy" but he will make sure it's easy to his students. Obviously loves math and gets his students excited. Amazing teacher.
Ramirez is very clear in his explanations, and his exams is very close to what he teaches. Every week, he assign a homework, but it is big homeworks, so you need to spend time on it.
The class was extremely difficult. You feel like you're doing good and understand the information from the homework and lectures, but take the tests and find that you failed. Very difficult. Would not recommend.
Good class and finally an instructor who teaches a college class at a college level. Thanks
Bait and switch. He tells you you are doing fine, and then slams you with the test scores. Why have questions on the test that are way harder than the problems we practice in class? Unfair.
Jason is probably the best teacher I've ever had. Although he's very tough, he's very fair. I learned a lot and I really enjoyed going to class everyday. He really wants you to succeed. He loves math, and he wants you to love it too. He's pretty funny and he tries to talk to his students like they're his friends. Definitely recommend his class!
A funny good teacher. Best Math teacher yet. Highly recommend!
descriptive, clear explanation if you can do the home work and self assignments you can do the exam
Jason was probably one of my favorite instructors at HCC. He's tough but will make sure you're ready for MATH 152. Go to his office hours if you're confused, and he'll make sure you understand before you leave. Be on time to lecture! He dislike people coming in late. Take good notes, study in groups, and practice problems. I loved his class!
Great Teacher. If you miss class often, you will fail.
Flexible tough, occasionally condescending, don't show up late, no quizzes, rare occasional extra credit. HW due weekly 1-2 sections, 10-30 questions. Assignments are done on paper, show work and get help from the MRC when needed Do the optional questions and self-examinations when needed as these are whats possibly to be expected on exams.
International students should not take his class, easy class but mean teacher. When I asked questions about homework to him, he said he ready to class(didn't want to answer me at all!!). and he answered others about homework in the class time. if you are local, go ahead take his class, he is very nice to local students. He is mean mean mean mean
Took the course last quarter and was nervous. AT THE END OF THE QUARTZ I actually enjoyed calculus. Very helpful instructor. USE office hours some thought class time were office hours.
don't use your phone during class or he will hate you. Otherwise he's pretty cool.
Grade is based on 10 HW assignments, 3 exams and one final. He breaks things down. He wants to be sure everyone understands. 10 points max for extra credit. Strict but fair. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you really need to go to class.
Did not the way he teaches because he expects students to know everything.
Not helpful
Tough grader, his tests are really hard. He interacts with students but sometimes humiliates them in front of class.
Knows his material too well for students to understand. Its not that he cant teach but the way he explain things is really complicated. Tests are really hard. Do not recommend if math is not your strongest subject.
He knows what he is talking about but he just cant explain it very well. He is also a very tough grader, and unless you an expert at everything you have learned so far, his class will be very very hard.
He's tough but if you are willing to put in the time and effort to do well in his class, you will master the material. One of the best math teachers I've ever had, he made me like math. Always go to class, do your work early, and don't be afraid to ask for help from a tutor. He's kind of crazy but it makes class interesting.
He is very helpful and knows his stuff. I never thought I would get a 4.0 in a calc class. If you pay attention, do the work and come to class, you will do great! One of my favorite math teachers ever!
He is a very polarizing teacher: you either love him, or you hate him. He tends to bring out strong opinions in students. I personally had a very hard time learning from him during the summer. But despite his mood swings, he was very passionate about math. I personally would avoid taking him again, for any math course.
Took m152 from him last quarter as well as other math courses at HCC with him. He brings out the best in his students, makes them self reflect. I needed that to be successful. He is authentic and that is a good thing.
Mr. Ramirez is a wonderful and hilarious professor. I am currently taking his math 152 class and he teaches the lessons clearly and effectively. If you go to class daily and do some self-assessments on his website, I am pretty sure you will get an A in his class easily. He does not like online stuff so he does not use Canvas or Webassign !!
Jason has been one of my all time favorite instructors here at Highline! I have never been a person who enjoys math nor was I very good at it. Jason made this class enjoyable and easy to understand. He provided hand outs for examples and note taking, many extra credit opportunities and was always there to help if needed. Would take from him again!
He teaching skill is good. But after you took him class, you will find your grade be less and less. The point never go up.
I'm a "take the easiest class" type of guy, and his class is best defined as fair. Tests are fair, not too hard. Homework is a good amount, not too much not too little. He definitely cares for your learning
This was the hardest class I ever took at Highline. He knows what he is talking about but he just cant explain it very well. And kind of makes you look like an idiot. One time he told the class, that we started with about 36 students and during the final exam there were 18-20 students left. hardest part was to Understand the material very well.
One of the toughest graders I've had. His teaching skills are great and he is very detailed, however the class is extremely lecture heavy. He gives no exam reviews or let's you ask homework questions (annoying when HW assignments are usually 70+ problems every week). Exams are nothing like the homework. Extremely tough and would not take him again.

One of the few very good teachers at Highline I have came across. Math was the hardest subject for me and he makes it so interesting that one hour flies by quick. My grade is better than I was expecting to get. He definitely knows the material and can explain it perfectly. If you do your part of studying you will be fine.
Excellent teacher!! Knows the subject very well and is very passionate about math. Definitely required a lot of time for studying and a certain level of maturity/responsibility so if you want everything easy than avoid. If you like being challenged and want to learn than take his class.
Nice teacher, exam is easy. Homework is not hard but a liitle bit heavy. can learn a lot in his class
He teaches very well and gives you lots of homework to help you understand the material better. I believe he gives you the perfect amount of homework to practice your knowledge and understanding. Except for one week, it was too much lol.
Lectures are great! Always willing to answer your questions during office hours. Respect him and he will respect you. Exams are based on lecture notes, therefore the exams are nothing like the homework. Simply put; show up to class, ask questions, do your work, ask questions, and UNDERSTAND the material, then you'll do fine.
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. he made me fail the class and I got kicked out of the university I was going to go to because of him. There's no word that can describe how awful this person is. DON'T TAKE WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Ramirez has incredible knowledge of his subject. He genuinely loves math, which makes his lectures very interesting. He'll often tie in-class concepts to more complicated math, showing how everything connects. You have to work hard, one homework assignment on paper per week can take between 3-6 hours depending on effort and understanding. A++
Probably one of the best math professors at highline. He encourages students to visit him during office hours and helps out really well. Grade basically depends on tests. 3 tests100 pts each, 1 final200 pts, homework100pts, extra credit10pts max. Usually has multiple pop quizzes each week but wont hurt your grade because it's for extra credit.
He gives much opportunities to learn material, he creates notes and goes over them they are very good note packets that help a lot. He creates self assessments that help too. He teaches well but seems to get off topic, brings his daughter into every conversation lol. Hes pretty okay knows how to teach. Not a hard class just lots of work.
I had Jason Ramirez for both 151 and 152. He was the best math teacher I've had in my educational career. He's a nice guy who actually cares about his students education. If you do the minimal amount to get by in math, you will struggle in his classes. If you apply yourself and pay attention it will be an enjoyable class.
Jason is an engaging, dedicated professor, but his teaching style didn't mesh with me. He teaches math like it's an art, in that there's no one way to do it, and that threw me off. If you're willing to study and work hard, you should be fine. He's very passionate about what he does, and class was always enjoyable.
dont do it to yourself. i recommend any other math teacher. his teaching methods only work with students who put in hours after school. If you're like me, and don't have much time to study like others, i suggest a teacher who will benefit your learning method. He's hard for no apparent reason, and just wants to challenge people out of their mind.
Please do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs, even if it means taking a quarter off when he's the only option. I love Math and have always gotten 3.8s but I'm just glad I BARELY PASSED HIS CLASS. Pretty much my worst mistake in my college career ever.
I took his math 151 class over the summer and as a student who attends a 4 year university and has taken numerous math classes, his by far was the best. He cares about the success of his students and trust me when you get to a 4 year you will need to spend hours of studying. Lecture style and he uses technology. Learned a ton.
Jason was a nice guy but his teaching style wasn't a great fit for me. I'm a student athlete and was unable to invest many hours outside of class as the homework was lengthy and there were many papers for each unit. Looking back, I'd probably take another teacher.
He is Worst teacher I have ever meet in my entire life. He makes people fail. He calls people out in class. If you don't want to fail, Go for another teacher.
this guy is something else he doesn't give homework he gives hard exams and doesn't record his lecture. passing is impossible.
just not worth it. Don't register for this class.
he is a very tough grader and isnt reasonable when it comes to grading there is barely any assignments so every assignment is very significant. he also doesnt record his classes so if you miss class you wont know whats going on.
The worst professor in math don't take his class never ever
Please do yourself a favor and DONT take this guy for math. it was still impossible to pass. If you care for your mental health avoid this class at all costs. This teacher made me loose my mind and Ihad to retake this class and passed the 2nd time with a 94% and I barley tried the 2nd time. Never learned anything in his class. DONT TAKE!!!
JASON SUCKS!!! I am a 4.0 student and have never been this annoyed by a teacher before. You can get the right answer but he will still find a way to doc you some points smhhh. His emails are vague and always finds a reason to doc you points in an online class!
This is not an easy class, the material we learned was hard. However, the good thing is that Mr. Ramirez knows what he is teaching and can explain the concepts very well. Go to office hours and ask questions whenever you are confused to help you pass the class. He does emphasize small details so remember to include everything in your answers.
This teacher grades everything on hand, and he is very strict with grading. For example, if you put + instead of - but you calculated the whole problem correctly, he deducts you at least half of the grade of that problem. Everything you have one chance to do it on hand, so you end up failing this class if you take it.
Mr. Ramirez was very understanding of personal struggles and office hours offered students the opportunity to ask questions about material they may be confused on. Success is determined by your effort in the class and being able to ask for help when needed.
I regret taking this class. He doesn't explain anything very well and is constantly calling people out. If you needed a sign not to take this class, this is it!!!
Jason Sucks!! Hw is too advance to the point that the materials that provided to you to solve the problem become useless. he also teaches fast and he use his extra time to flex his daughter.
Worst teacher math teacher at highline. lecture is too fast instead of using the whole time explain the content very clear to students he would just solve the problem and move on and if you try to approach him for question he give you that "are you dumb" vibe for not understanding his teaching, which makes it hard for him to approach
How this teacher even allowed to be a teacher?! sure he knows what his doing, but come on men you a teacher you not on some math competition and honestly nobody cares about your daughter stop flexing her to the class. your hard to approach, because whenever a student ask for help you would make them feel stupid instead of assisting them.
take any professor except this guys matter of fact go to different community college expect highline lol. this guy is top 1 worst teacher i have ever had. I get the lecture but the Homework is the real problem. I feel like he's toying with his students that sht is too fcking advance. Hw suppose to help us to better understand the content you teach.
I should've listen to my friend and not take this guy as my cal2 teacher. he would treat other students okay, but we other students like their stupid honestly why did he qualify as a teacher. this guy gotta chill with his really advance hw that don't help students at all. you not teacher Harvard students chill tf down
god this guy sucks! don't even read the rest of the ratings they'll just say the exact same thing. and do yourself a favor and don't ever take his class if you love your mental health. he would make second guess your capability trust me he's not the best teacher to have if you want to make your college life easier man is straight trash
he should've be a teacher! I wonder how many students this guy drop out of college start thinking about approaching life in a different way. I am fully dedicated, and motivated when I first start my college life everything is going good until i took this guy as my teacher. and now I'm rethinking him college is for me.
advice for this guy make the homework so its relative to the lecture you teach your students. so then they could use the hw as source to grasp the content of the lecture. honestly you could teach, but you just decided not to teach on what on the Hw. the real problem here is your hw its alot and extremely hard.
Professor Jason is one of my Favorite. He is so good at his job. He explains every single detail. Please enroll with him only, if you are willing to learn. His grading criteria is to the point. If he knows your concept is clear, you will get points. He helps outside the class as well. Super kind and helpful. I took 151, now I am taking 152 with him
goated professor tbh. hes really making sure you understand the materials. either thats a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. just don't be a pepega, do your homework(the optional ones), if ur struggling let him know and he'll help
Best math profesor ever, class was great very clear and organized, homework was optional some of it and some graded so it was a good balanced, he was very clear with all the content and office hours were super useful The class moved to a good pace and test were challenging Best teacher so far
Jason at first seemed a little scary but as the class continued he got nicer it seemed. The class was pretty hard for me and he went pretty fast. He only gives 7 hw's and each take about 3 hours. Other than that he gives "suggested hw" which is mandatory to understand the class but not mandatory for grade. He a good teacher and has a lot of storys.
Awesome Professor!! Cares about his students. Ready to help, Course is easy to follow and well organized, clear criteria of grading , available outside class, inspirational, have great stories, good grader, make sure you understand content, Awesome lectures (my favorite part was his color coding marker) Definitely recommend him!!
Attendance isn't really mandatory, but be aware that you will be missing a lot of material if you don't attend every day. There is also no room for late assignments.
Took him for Precalc 1 and Calc 2 and he was for sure one of my favorite professors ever from my time at Highline. He made sure you understood the material and taught it very clearly. He gave amazing answers to questions and was timely with grading. I highly recommend taking his class if you can!
Jason gives amazing lectures and always describes why the concepts matter. His passion and dedication is inspiring. If you are invested in learning the ins and outs of mathematics, take Jason. If you only need to fill a prereq or credit, you'll likely have a hard time in his class.
This guy is one of the worst professors I've ever had. If hostility was a person, it would be him. His lectures are so condescending that every class is agonizing. The content isn't crazy hard; spend enough time studying and you'll get a decent grade, but that's just the content, not him. If you want poorly-paced hostility, take this class.
Jason is extremely passionate about math, but he is so nitpicky on assignments to the point you will never get full score. His lectures are understanding as long as you do the optional homework assignments which take like 5 hours per night and who has time for that.. you NEED a partner in this class to do/help you with homework with or you willfail
This class was hard, but very rewarding! He was a great teacher. Sometimes feedback was unclear, but overall I didn't have any problems. Just make sure to attend lecture everyday.
you get the vibe that he would marry math if he could, and he's very passionate about what he teaches. I genuinely don't think its possible to pass this class without a study buddy/group and I wouldn't try but if you find ppl its great. the quizzes and tests were fairly easy, its the assignments that are impossible weirdly overall 100% recommend!
He is a great educator if you enjoy math, otherwise I do not recommend taking this course for funzies. He is a very critical grader(very minimal partial credit) but he explains the concepts like no other. If you want to pass with a good grade do the suggested homework, otherwise if you just want to pass don't. All love though, great teacher.
He was the most generous grader on the quizzes and exams. Saved my grade several times because of the generous grading. Also you will NOT pass this class if you dont have a study buddy to do suggested homework with. He was a funny guy and mostly understanding. I would definitely recommend him because he was a strict dude but like funny lolol
If you miss a single class, you'll most likely flunk. Doesn't help that his ego is huge because he reads books about math and needs to show off his math prodigy daughter.
Never answers questions about homework
I took him for the 2nd time in the fall. He was a very good professor, the reviews that speak on his daughter, disregard them. The only reason I got such a low grade in his class was because I was burnt out lmao. You need a study buddy to pass his class and he explained things very thoroughly and well. Hes funny if you get his sarcasm :p!
He explains the material very well and is a pretty funny guy. I enjoyed taking his class and would have it again, though the Monday-Friday just doesn't work for me. He uses his own materials though gives us a textbook for suggested homework. Recommend having a study buddy as I didn't have one and it came way harder for me.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT COMMITED! Jason is a great teacher and is super passionate about math. the only thing is that if you don't put in the work every day you will fail. I put in 8 hours a day and guys I barely passed. If you're not that good at math DO NOT take this class, take a professor that will be easier on you! you got this.
I've had many instructors, but none explain concepts as clearly as he does. His color-coded markers simplify concepts, and suggested homework promotes active recall. Completing the suggested work nearly guarantees success. I found Calculus 1 difficult, but Calculus 2 was much easier and fun. Just dedicate yourself, and you'll see results.
You definitely get what you put into this course. I was worried to see how this quarter would be since all the reviews were horrible saying how they barely passed and they NEEDED a study buddy which isn't true. I passed with flying colors by myself so yeah super easy and he definitely makes the course fun with his stories.
You MUST do your suggested homework or else you will fail the class, he also told us he usually does tests on the first day of class to see where people were at. I feel he was a very rude teacher toward me and unless you go to office hours everyday it'll be very hard to take the class.
I took his course during the summer, and honestly he's a great teacher. He explains the material thoroughly! one thing to keep in mind is that he quick when it comes to factoring or solving for x, so be very prepared when it comes to factoring. Also, he mentioned he usually give tests to students first day, assuming to see where you're at..
I was a somewhat lazy student during the two quarters I took his classes, the biggest advice I have is this: know when things are due, because late submission is not allowed. Suggested homework is necessary for both a high grade and a full conceptual understanding of the material. Finally, make study groups! The lecture handouts are extremely clear
jason is a really good explainer if your actively learning. He doesnt do webassign, all hw is on paper. 8 hw, 2 quiz and exams which seems fine but its very hard to “raise” ur grade. You NEED to do the suggested hw if u wanna pass. hes funny sometimes and is inlove with math but can seem intimidating at times. Barely any extra credit,
Terence Fletcher from Whiplash if he wasn't violent or rude lmao. Jason is very strict with grading, and won't take anything after its due. Besides that though he is a very very good lecturer. His teaching style is amazing and he has a deep understanding in mathematics. He offers optional hw which you should do because normal hw is quick.
Jason explains everything throughly. He loves math and he's good at teaching it. He has two exams and two quizzes. His exams are fair, and not that hard. His packets have old exam questions and he gives a lot of resources to study from. He gives out a good amount of extra credit.
The Lebron James of lecturing, you can tell he loves math, excellent teacher although he is a harsh grader.
One of the professors of all time. Shaves his whole head twice a quarter, often distracting when it happens. Teaches through real life examples, such as talking about his daughter and wife. His analogies to explain the material are quite unorthodox sometimes, and I believe his brain works differently from most. Excelling is feasible through effort.
Strict grading. Out of 25 people 10 people left till the end of quarter. If you wanna drop class then take this. Impossible to pass, even if you do your best. A waste of time and he gives you too much stress. Ans no late homework submission
