this man is not just a teacher, hes a friend and someone you could confide in if you need help.his lessons are almost like hes teaching you,and you alone hes more than happy to answer questions though usually there arent many hes very clear on his lessons and whats meant to be done in the time given his advice and teachings are most helpful in life
He is a great teacher! knows his**** and isnt afraid to help you out. Very down to earth and has a good sense of humor. Just go to class, try and do your homework you should at least get a C, even if you are a terrible welder
he does not seem to follow his own course guidelines. Seems very distant and troubled and his mind is not with the class. Does not communicate with the class well, never sure from day to day what we will be doing. we are supposed to be working to be certified and we are not getting to that point as a class.
Not really serious about teaching.I take his night classes so he must be tired at that time I suppose. His assistant Eric is way more helpful than he is.He doesn't explain things thoroughly, and he hits the office for the rest of lab.He doesn't critique your welds to help better yourself.Lazy and unhelpful.I feel sorry for the poor guy.
His Lectures are awesome,,but the Lab,If he says something out loud once or twice while your in a group session-he somehow expects you to understand or else he will get discouraged. You have to constantly ask questions or you will get no where at all. He doesn't like a slacker-you have to show him that you really want to learn this trade.
He is an awesome welder, but as for a teacher he over complicates everything and he is inconsistant with what he tells you. he will say something is do on a certain date ant then randomly expect you to have it 2 weeks early. I would say overall he is a horrible professor.
He is a horrible professor. He is rude and inconsistant. It is as if he just doesn't care if you learn or not. You can work your hardest and all he does is just make everything harder on the students. He also expects everyone to understand everything right away. His assistant Eric is way more helpful than he is. Roberts just makes you feel stupid.
He Is a great teacher if you show initiative. If you are just trying to get credits His classes are not for you. You Must be a Good Listener. Do your homework and Labwork. And Ask Lots of questions. Also His Assistant Eric has lots of real world work experience to share.
Great teacher with great personality, great class for anyone willing to try welding.
New welding shop, very knowledgable instructor
Very good teacher. Great way to teach. Zack
Mr.Roberts is great professor. Class is very fun, getting ready for the big job in the future. Steve Chang
I like the way he makes you be responsible for the class, and take it seriously, that way you are more prepare for the real world of welding whe you go to work, and in addition he is great person, and fun professor, and helpful wen you ask for something Guillermo
Professor Roberts is a knowledgeable professor and is there any time you have questions. Great introduction to welding, fun class!-Amanda
He is awesome instructor, I like the way he makes you be responsible for the class and take it siriysly, but at the same time makes you have fun with al the challenges that the class involves, Guillermo
Excellent: He knows what hes talking about.I leaned a lot about of welding. Very straight to the point. Lots of knowledge to give to the class.-Jim
Class is challenging for welding starters but very fun to weld once you get the hang of it. IT does required you to be prepared before going to class (i.e. doing the homework and reading the chapters). Roberts has ton of welding experience and knowledge on these matters. If you want to learn welding, you would take his classes @ CRC. Yuk
You are never too old to learn a new skill and Professor Roberts class provides the opportunity to discover the basics of welding. He is very helpfully with just the right amount support and has an emphasis on learning the necessary skills and safety awareness. William
I didn't knew anything about welding until I took his class. It's easy if you do your work and read the book. Other than that I learn a lot about welding. Profesor Roberts is pretty cool. Great profesor to learned from.
At first it may seem hard but don't give up. Keep on trying until the end. Do your work and read the book! Profesor Roberts is a type of dude you come in his class you come in to work. We need more profesor like him. Wish you luck future students! William @CRC
I have learned a lot from roberts class. Its very hands on and he knows what he is talking about. Cody B.
Really Cool guy!
Professor Roberts knows his stuff. This isn't a class to get easy credits. DO NOT take this class if you have no common sense! There is alot of heavy machinery & gases that can injure others if handled without care. I couldn't have asked for a better welding Professor. He works with you if your not getting the material. He has tons of knowledge
Tim Eisenbeisz. I've learned a lot from Roberts. Good balance of lecture, homework, and hands on practice. Overall good experience.
This class is great Mr roberts is a great teacher Jeremy E
Very enthusiastic and fun teacher to be around. To the point but helpful and knows his stuff.
Great class and a very knowledgable instructor. You'll get more information and gain better experience if the class size can stay smaller.
Mr. Roberts tells you exactly what you have to do to succeed in the class starting on day one. Do the homework, show up on time and study for the tests. Hands on training is awesome with some of the best and up to date equipment. Very good class to learn about welding! Anthony
Brandon. Very enthusiastic and fun teacher to be around. To the point but helpful and knows his stuff. Follow the rules, have common sense and the class will be a blast.
For my first time in college great experience. He is fun, great class discussions. Their is a lot of time for the hands on projects. Michael m
I loved this class and loved coming to class to work on my projects it went way faster then expected-Tyler Moore
this teacher was very helpful on teaching us things I had no prior exposure to. He he had a way of explaining things in a way that everyone could understand and remember the lesson plan
He really knows welding. Makes lecture fun.
Really knows welding. Makes lecture fun.
This class was useful and interesting. If you want to learn about welding and its fundamentals, take this class. -Be T.
Good instructor with a pretty decent sense of humor.
super easy if you are serious. if you go just to be there he will recognize and make it not so easy.
Interesting and funny lectures-
Go to class early, be prepared. This is vocational so treat it like a job. Manual dexterity is required, or its may be a long semester. Decent lectures labs are great. Attend all classes or get dropped. No time for flunkies. Great instructor.
Found the welding class fun. Need to take more of these classes after I complete my degree. Jason and Paul are both very helpful in teaching you how to make a proper weld and what it can be used on. Justin B.
Mr. Roberts, my teacher, and his assistance, Mr. Paul, were very dedicated and explaining to us how each welding process applying to particular application. Also they trained us how to operate equipments safely. I have a MIG welding machine. After taking this welding class, welding 160, I can weld and operate with confident.
Roberts is a very good professor. Gives good instructions on how to work and operate the equipment. Is very straight forward with his students and tries to help them to the best of his abilities. Juan R.
Great instructor, enjoyed all the classes I've taken with Professor Roberts. Funny and a joy to be in class. If you want to learn to weld this is the place to be! Lance Teodecki
On day 1 of class we were given a complete class syllabus, attendance requirements, grading criteria, Instructed on all safety gear needed for the class, on the use of all shop equipment properly, written tested on safety for the equipment and the shop. Any questions were answered fully. I felt comfortable with class instruction.
It's clear Mr. Roberts is preparing us for a career in Welding. He has high expectations and wants us to be the best Welding students around.
A great teacher of the trade and very easy to learn from.
Roberts is an awesome teacher and kyle is a great assistant. Bother are knowledgeable and are easy to talk to.
Good to be challenged by a real pro who wants the best efforts from his students.
This class is an "introductory course to the Gas Metal Arc Welding process" based on the syllabi. I have stick welded but never MIG welded before and I found this class to be more of a fast-paced "advanced" welding class. No assignments for welding bead pads or square butt joints were ever covered. I found the instructors guidance inconsistent.
Good teacher to take if your into welding. He has lots of knowledge and knows what he's doing. Very helpful and was open to any questions. Enjoyed the shop part of the class. You get to learn how to use all the machinery and tools in class. He's great! (José G)
A very well-equipped shop. Two shop helpers that are very helpful (Thanks Paul and Cullen!) Roberts has been welding a long time and will get you going in the right direction. You must become a decent welder to pass this class.
Roberts and his assistants Paul and Cullen are all very helpful. You will be learning how to use many shop tools if you take this class (various shears, track cutters, etc.) The shop is very well appointed. (Adams, B.)
learned alot in this classhad never. At first i strugled but then the assistants were there to help me. Also Roberts is a great teacher he would tell us what to do when we started a project.
I would hire him.
One of the best teachers and programs to take in CRC. I drive down from San Jose weekly just to take his classes. Just be mature, listen and respect his teachings and you will learn so much. His shop assistants are always helpful. Kyle was instrumental in helping me pass my weld tests, without his help and advice I would've failed (Louis O.)
The WELD299 (135) class gives you so much experience in a condensed 8 week course. Mr. Roberts lectures on only whats needed and uses the book to give specific technical info. You wont see this type of class anywhere else, the facility has the best welding equipment out there so the end result of your welds depends on your personal skill. -Ramon
Roberts is the type of professor you have respect for based on his experience and knowledge. His assistants Kyle and Cullin show that they WANT to help you succeed and become a better welder, and don't treat it as just another job. You won't regret taking his class.
Prof. Roberts is a great teacher and a great welder the class was fun and easy what more could you ask for. kenneth Salazar
Roberts is a good professor that really knows what he's talking about. He may not be the nicest but I can see why. He pushes you to do better and even encourages students to repeat the class if they haven't mastered the skill yet. Kyle the assistant is going to be the most helpful. He goes one on one with students to teach them everything he knows.
Really helpful teacher. Him and his assistant Kyle, really know their stufff. If you want to be a welder he's the right teacher to go too. The welding shop has mostly everything you need to get your certifications.
Roberts is successful as a professor because he draws upon his life experiences as a welder with also having completed his bachelors/masters from Cal Poly. He was key in the design of CRC's welding facility that houses industry standard equipment & helpful assistants. His lectures are informative & funny. Awesome program - it's just up to you. Mika
Roberts is a great informative teacher, make sure you do your home work and show up on time and you'll enjoy his great classes. Alex N.
Very awsome professor he really gives it to you straight and clear. He is big on safety and knowing the fundamentals of safety. Also he has a great helper named Paul he to is very helpful.
He is a very nice but hard nose professor who made sure you comprehended what you needed to succed.
He is a very nice but hard nose professor who made sure you comprehended what you needed to succed. My name is Brandon c.
Great beginning class to learn the pure basics of welding, like how to be safe and what different kinds of welding practices are used in today's industry. Paul was an excellent assistant and super helpful to the class. Wish there was less people so we could get more time on certain equipment but class size isn't up to him unfortunately.
Jason was awesome! His knowledge on welding just blows your mind. Paul was awesome as well, he helped me with correcting my mistakes and that help will stick with me and help better my welding skills.
Mr Roberts is smart and always thinking about the students safety. His assistant Paul made the class awesome. He takes the time to show you things one on one. Which makes a difference.
What's up with hotness? Is that something we need to know? Professor Roberts cares about safety. A couple of times, Paul helped me out with labs. It was helpful to have both of them available for safety and oversight of the students. If I wasn't enrolled in a different program, I'd go back for more classes in the fall. Summer is too short.
Roberts is very knowledgeable and highly skilled. I have a much better appreciation for the skills required to make good quality welds. Paul, his assistant was always available for questions and offered suggestions on techniques. I will be taking other classes. Jack S
Jason is highly experienced, knowledgeable, and proficient; conveys class material in a succinct, relaxed, humorous manner; welcomes student questions and input; motivates you to learn and do your best. Paul, Jason's assistant, was patient, responsive, and supportive; always there when and with the help I needed. Both care about their students.
Jason Roberts is very helpful and honest with all of his students,His lab assistant Paul is also very helpful and the class is not very hard
Great class and environment. Great instuctor who isnt boring. PAUL, the assistant for professor Roberts was very helpful and was very patient with students. Helps and checks on your progress and overall a great guy. Class would not run smoothly without him. Since professor cannot look after the whole class and run demo, Paul made sure no issue.
Mr. Roberts class is the best introductory course to Welding. He emphasizes the importance of safety throughout the course. Paul the lab tech was very knowledgable and helpful whenever Mr. Roberts was busy. Would definitely continue taking welding classes with Mr. Roberts and Paul the lab tech.
Sarah V.
Roberts cares about safety and making sure you understand the material. His assistant Paul is great!! This class wouldn't be possible without Paul! Paul is really helpful with making sure you fully comprehend that material and the processes. Roberts and Paul and great. Roberts will answer your questions, but be specific with what you're asking. k8t
Professor Roberts is highly knowledgeable in technical and practical aspects of welding, due to his years of experience in the welding industry. His lab assistance Paul was extremely helpful and also very knowledgeable in welding as well. Professor Roberts heavily emphasized safety, I felt confident and safe when handling the equipment.
Paul, Assistant to Professor, was extremely invaluable to my progress in this course. He was very knowledge about welding and was always willing to share that knowledge and experience with the students. He was very supportive when students struggled and was very encouraging which helped me gain the confidence I needed.
Amazing lectures! Love this professor. Took this class with my 17 yo son for his first college class. Proud that Roberts was his teacher. I highly recommend this class and would love to take it again. Jason Roberts speaks from the real work world and gets that point across to his students! So glad crc has a great instructor like this.
Mr Roberts is a Great teacher that is very experienced in welding and knows what hes talking about . Kyle the assistant has good feed back on how to improve
Second time taking this professor. He sets you up to succeed in industry IF you put in the time and effort. Kyle, the assistant does an awesome job in the class giving insight and helping to correct mistakes and problems in technique. Highly recommended mded professor overall, no bs, LOTS of under hood welding time.
Loves his job and is helpful. Kyle, his assistant, is also super knowledgeable and is always willing to help. So dont be afraid to ask questions.
Grades fair, treats us like we would be treated on the job.
Jason, Roberts is a great professors i learn alot about being a welder he gives good lectures and excellent professors .
Professor Roberts is extremely knowledgable of his subject and includes many real-world examples of the welding profession. In addition his assistant, Kyle Davis, (who is an excellent professional welder) adds key examples and demonstrations that comiments Professor Robert's lecture and demos. I highly recommend this program to anyone.
i have taken W100, w110 and w111, if compare my welding skill from beginning to my last class, i have much more confident and ready for real welding job. Robert has mix all kind of personal like Fun, serious, motivation and supportive. whoever has limited time for school but want to take some skill and interesting in welding go for it ......
Welding is fun. Professor Roberts is helpful and interesting. Give this class a try.
The pipe welding class was difficult, but it was great. Professor Roberts was positive and helpful. Kyle, the TA, was also very helpful. Lots of welding time in this class.
Learned a lot about MIG equipment. Both Professor Roberts and Paul, the TA, are there to teach and help.
You learn a lot of information about GMAW. Very productive class.
This class was a bit challenging for me, but it was enjoyable in the end. Lots of fabrication. Professor Roberts is patient when you need help.
W129 GTAW Stainless - Excellent class taught by a great professor. He's a very well-rounded personality. He requires that you be engaged and put in the time and will match it when requested. I've had 4 or 5 different classes with Mr. Roberts and they've all been excellent.
Don't buy books. Collects no homework. If you ask a question, he talks around the subject with no clear answer. Lecture is reading word for word from a PowerPoint. The only homework he actually checks are assignments to watch YouTube videos from weld dot com. The certificates are not industry certifications. Don't waste your time. Free credits.
I believe Jason Roberts is a competent welder. I know that he is an incompetent teacher. He lacks the drive to help students further their education in favor of not helping for self gratification.
Boring class
Very easy class but Mr. Roberts seems very lazy to me
Mr.Roberts uses too many philosophical terms maybe he should be a philosophy teacher
Mr Roberts does not actually teach, he talks at you then makes you watch tons of youtube videos, he is a condescending, bigoted man who just wants to spend his days making people feel bad and kick people out due to his own mistakes after having them spend upwards of 300 dollars
