Roberts is an easy Religion Professor, but you still need to come to class in order to pass. His notes are fill in the blank word documents you download from ELC the morning of every class. His tests aren't bad, and neither are his 2 papers, only 1000 words. He has a group project later on in the semester which also isn't hard. Definitely take him
Dr. Roberts is great. I went to his office hours for both papers and he basically rewrote my papers for me - I got 100s on both. Tests are super easy and he even gives you a study guide. Definitely take again
Do not take!!! Do not listen the other reviews. He makes an INTRO Religion class unnecessarily difficult. The test are TOUGH even after never missing a day of class and adequately studying. He grades the papers very hard. Take another professor! Trust me!
Be ready to memorize lots material since he gives fill in the blank with no work bank. Oh and he does not every help out if you ask him. He does not even mention the essay until the day before it is due. Do not take him!
Lectures weren't really that necessary. All you need to know is the study guide for the tests. You have to write 2 papers and do 1 group project. Very helpful if you go to his office officers
Lectures are lengthy and moderately unrelated to the tests--just memorize the study guides and it's an easy A . The 2 papers he assigns are also really simple if you follow the rubric (which he posts on elc). Don't know why everyone's giving him such a hard time because he's a really nice guy and is willing to help if you ask for it.
Roberts was a great teacher. He basically tells you whats on the tests with his pre-made study guides. Papers are the hardest part and those he grades extremely leniently. There is one presentation where you talk for 4 minutes and easy 100 if you take some time doing the project. Would recommend this class for easy elective!
Lectures are sorta pointless but your grade will drop with more than 4 absences. He puts up a comprehensive study guide a week before each test and will give you thorough feedback on papers that make a difference by a whole letter grade. If you want to take a religion course, this guy is a winner. Choose him or you are doing yourself a disservice.
took this class to fulfill a credit I needed-I'm not interested in majoring in religion at all bought the textbook but never read it-used to cite sources for the occasional essay he assigns quizzes (that you can take twice-and it's the same both times) and posts a study guide to look over beforehand. Not a brush off class-but doable
took class to satisfy a required credit course - made religion interesting - gives quizzes that you can take twice and he takes the higher grade (same exact quiz each time) - didn't read the textbook - only used textbook to cite sources in the occasional essay - not a brush off class but perfect for those of us who are busy pursuing our passions
Dr. Roberts seems nice but the way he has his class set up makes it nothing special. Three tests, two papers, and one group project determine your grade. Lectures are EXTREMELY boring and not relevant for the tests. As long as you review the study guide before the test you should get an A. Extremely boring class with a good amount of effort.
The class was very well organized and he was super fast about putting grades in. I didn't read the book at all after the first week and did fine. He gives you notes and study guides and that's all you need. I definitely recommend this class as a relatively easy A.
I think he does a bad job of helping students understand the basic facts of each religion. He talks way too much about tiny details that don't matter. He gives study guides that are comprehensive, so the tests aren't impossible, but it is annoying to do so much memorizing. I feel like I've actually learned nothing.
This class is completely TA led and the attendance is only mandatory in the Ta led sessions on Friday. I never attended any of Dr. Roberts lectures because his tests were just like the study guides. Memorize the Study guides and you'll ace the tests. Papers are not graded harshly at all. Opportunities are given for extra credit. Take Roberts!
Worst teacher ever. Makes an intro class unnecessarily hard. Tests have entire pages of fill in the blank with no word bank. Lectures very dry, notes hard to dicipher. STEAR CLEAR!!
This class was so easy. Study guides for every test. I only went to class on the breakout sessions (because attendance for those are mandatory) and came out with an A.
Roberts takes attendance every single day, but allows four absences across the semester. Provides VERY thorough study guides that will give you an A if you study. He cares about the material and gives really clear feedback for literally every assignment. It'd be hard not to get an A just because he works harder than his students. Great professor.
Dr. Roberts makes this class as easy as it gets. He puts out a study guide before every test that has exactly what will be on the tests, no tricks. Attendance to the lectures on Monday and Wednesday aren't mandatory, but the break out sessions on Friday are. The papers and group project are really easy and he grades extremely leniently. TAKE HIM.
I didn't go to lecture after the first day of class but need to go to Friday breakout sessions for attendance and test reviews. The study guides have everything on the test and only 3 in-class noncumulative tests. Hardest part is 2 essays but have lots of time to write them and are graded easily.
Nice guy, really does his best to make things as easy as possible. The tests are exactly like the study guide. His notes are fill in the blank, but I stopped taking them a month in. I went to class out of respect, and he is really passionate about it and *tries* to make class involved, but you don't have to. Attendance only mandatory on Fridays.
Guided Notes, Study Guides before every Test, Lax grading. Dr. Roberts is awesome! Aside from nightly dropbox reflections, the class doesn't eat up too much time. He is charismatic and tries to make the class interesting. Show up to class, do the work, cram, get an A. Its that simple.
Dr. Roberts is a caring professor and a fairly easy grader. The class was sometimes boring, but it's not hard to get a good grade as long as you do the reading. The honors section has a reflection based on the reading due every day. Easy class and easy professor. Grade based on daily reflections, three exams, a partner project, and a paper.
Literally just reads off the fill-in-the-blank notes he gives you. Reflections are due every day based off of readings (w/opportunity for extra credit), a paper, group presentation, & 3 exams. Provides a comprehensive study guide of everything you need to know for the test. VERY passionate about the material which is cute. I got a 100 in the class.
Online class is very difficult with discussion questions with not much time. Very challenging exams. In-class is so much easier
His tests are brutal. A large part of them are literally you knowing Greek or Latin and that isnt what the course is about. I thought I would of been tested more on concepts and not if I knew Greek and Latin. Weekly discussion questions. Two essays. He gives you everything but his lectures are him reading off the screen and you fill in the blanks.
Such an easy class to take to knock out your core classes. The tests are exactly the same as the study guides, the project is super easy and he gives you class time to work on it, and the two papers are really straightforward. Lecture notes are completely fill in the blank. Really recommend it if you're looking for an easy Area IV course
Easy online A. Quizzes and discussions for all 7 modules, no final. 2, 4-5 page essays. One group project. We got an A. He gives clear criteria for what is expected. USE HIS STUDY GUIDE FOR THE QUIZZES. Only reason I used the book is because he expects references from the book in the discussions and papers.
If you want an elective class with little work don't take this one. There are reflections due everyday before class, a paper, group project, and 3 tests. The tests are easy but you do actually have to study in order to do well. Not a bad class just can take up more time than you want it to.
Roberts is a great choice for RELI 1001. All of his notes are accessible on eLC and he gives study guides for each test that are very similar to the actual test. There are two papers and a project but they are not difficult to complete. Very good experience.
I took RELI 1001e online and it was super easy. A discussion post (with a reply) and an online, open note quiz per week. Textbook was helpful for the two papers that we write. All of the answers to the weekly quizzes were on Quizlet. Two semesters ago I was going in-person to a classroom and changed my schedule. Online is definitely the way to go.
Really good professor. Easy grader, class consisted of three tests, one paper, a group project, and reflections before every class. Easy A if you study a day or two before the tests, do the reflections, and show up to class.
I took this online class and it was easy! I got an A- at the end of the course. Mr. Roberts was very nice, not a tough grader, and always gave feedback. This was probably my easiest class of the semester. There was no extra credit or tests, only quizzes & discussions, & 2 papers. For the quizzes, READ THE STUDY GUIDE THAT HE GIVES YOU.
Dr. Roberts was the sweetest professor ever, he cares about his students and the subject matter. The class itself is pretty easy, there are daily reflections which at first seem like a lot but he spells out exactly where the answers are in the book. tests are based off the study guides. one group project & essay, both are easy. take this class!
Take this class. While the lectures are tedious and sometimes boring to sit through, the tests are manageable. USE THE STUDY GUIDE HE GIVES YOU. He tests in a consistent format, so study well for the first one and study to the test after that. Prof Roberts is really passionate and cares about his students, go visit him in office hours
Dr. Roberts is not, in my experience, pleasant. He's unnecessarily scathing and condescending, and he will single you out and treat you poorly in class if you disagree with him. If you put in effort as I did, you'll get the grade you deserve. He's totally fair in his expectations and assessment. Don't expect to leave class feeling inspired, though.
I wrote the below "awful" review a few months ago and want to retract what I said. While Dr. Roberts and I didn't see eye to eye personally, he was fair with me in all ways that matter as a professor. He knows his material and doesn't shy away from questioning, and he makes himself available. My negative experience was more my fault than his.
I took this class online, so we had three zooms a week. Zoom attendance was required on fridays, but there was never a participation grade so. Easy quizzes and discussions were easily graded.
This is a very easy intro class! Each unit has a discussion board (which is easily graded) and a 20-30 question test which is an easy A if you look at the study guide before. You also get 2 chances on the test and the grades are averaged. There is 1 partner presentation and 2 essays throughout the course. I would definitely recommend this course!
The class included online lectures and mandatory reflection questions, and he gave notes outlines before every class. There were 6 quizzes through eLC, but he gave a study guide with basically all of the answers to go over beforehand. There was also one super easy partner project and one 6 page response paper that were graded pretty easily.
Dr Robert's 1001 class is really great. The lectures are fill in the blank notes, a little high school if you ask me but still so helpful. There are biweekly discussions and quizzes, 2 papers, and 1 partner project. his grading can be a little tough but other than that, a really great instructor, stayed on track, would def reccommend him!
Reflections due before class everyday, you can do well on them without doing the reading. One big group project.
Easy work, but tough grader. Might have been easier to take in person. Weekly open-note quiz and discussion. Two response papers. One partner project. Overly examines projects and response papers. Got points off for "vagueness" and "overuse of visuals". Nice professor, but too tough of a grader for an intro class.
Dr. Roberts was great! Tests are all MC, T/F, and matching; you write one paper and do one group project and then do a little reflection on each reading. Lecture notes are released the morning of and you follow along during lecture. Really funny and has lots of pop culture references that sometimes only he laughs at but that's ok :)
You can't miss more than 4 days w/o dropping a letter grade. He can be a little nitpicky w papers but not too strict. His notes were *very* thorough and his exam study guides are a must-read bc they're very useful. I loved the discussion in this course. Class is similar in structure to his other ones. Very fast at grading!
Enjoyed this class. Dr. Roberts will work with you if you get into any trouble. Have to be ready to write reflections before every class, but tests are easy as long as you use the study guide
Dr Roberts is a nice professor, and his class is very easy so long as you agree with him. In my experience, he gave much better grades when I agreed with his perspectives rather than voicing my own. Tests are easy, and class is useless but required. Not the most accurate introduction to Catholicism but Dr Roberts is good at making things simplified
Dr. Roberts class isn't the easiest, but you can still do well if you study for the tests. There are 3 tests, a group project, and 2 papers. He will look at your paper and give feedback if you turn it in before the deadline. The tests are just over a lot of material. I got a high B on all 3 tests and Im going to still get an A. Take if necessary.
This class is Figures in Catholicism. He tells you to buy a book for each figure but it is not needed because for quizzes, he gives study guides for each figure with underlined and bolded parts to show you what you need to study. There are 9 figures and 10 quizzes. There 2 essays and a presentation. Overall easy and fun class.
This is a decent & easy class. 3 exams, 1 partner project, and 2 essays. Everything is clearly outlined & everything on the study guides is on the exams. Fill-in notes make lecture easy to follow. Super interesting class and would recommend to anyone!
emphasis on the graded by few things!!! Roberts is nice and knowledgeable but lectures are very very boring. Clear expectations, but if you get below an 85 on the first test you probably won't get an A. I didn't learn much except when studying for tests
Class was super easy - fill in notes, detailed study guides, super helpful if you go to office hours. If you're unhappy with your grade on something go talk to him and there may be revisions if it's early in the semester.
Dr. Robert's was an excellent professor. His lectures were easy to follow and learn from and the organization of this course was the best I've ever had in a class. The expectations were clear. The material in the course was so interesting and I will recommend this class and Dr. Robert's as a professor to every friend I know!
If you need to take a religion class, take Dr. Roberts! Easily one of the best classes I have taken, and the work load isn't too bad once you get used to it. Reflection/reading assignments before each class and one paper is all. Show up and pay attention to class with moderate studying will get you an A, no problem.
He gives fill-in-the-blank notes and study guides for every exam. Lectures are hit or miss, but normally somewhat engaging. He definitely wants his students to succeed. His expectations are clear and the course is very, VERY organized. It is hard to not do well in his class, and he is extremely approachable.
Dr. Roberts definitely is on top of things. Gets things graded quickly, good feedback, and very attentive to the needs of students. Lots of reading and writing was required, but this class was absolutely fascinating. Made sure not to make it too hard on us and ease up if we needed it. Weekly discussion posts, two 1000-word essays, and three exams.
Dr. Roberts is a great professor! His tests questions can be a little specific and picky for an intro level class but as long as you study at least the night before you will do fine. No homework! Two papers graded by the TA and one group presentation graded by the TA which were not hard. Took this class with O Chem 2 and Anatomy 2 and did great!
3 tests, 2 papers, and a project. don't have to go to class, I didn't buy the text book but it helps when writing essays, unless u can get someone to send it to u. 1 extra credit assignment for 1.2%. if u email him he'll review your essay and if you do bad on the test, he'll let u retake and average them. super caring and great professor
I took this class in a condensed one-month summer program. It is very doable and interesting. He gives 5 assignments during the condensed course: three tests (20% each), one 1,500 word essay (24%), and a pair project (16%). He is very caring and funny. He only does guided notes which can be a bit dry, but still informative.
I had him for a summer semester in a condensed class format. His lectures were awesome and extremely engaging. I was excited to attend class every day. He is very kind and funny and plan on taking more of his classes. Highly recommend!
I've taken four classes with this professor and enjoyed all. I recommend him especially if you're interested in Christian ecology and sacramental theology. I am lecture-oriented, so his guided notes format worked well for me, but may not for you. He's also incredibly kind about mental health struggles, and will work with you if you are upfront.
Great class based on four exams, two papers and a group project. Super manageable week to week, and the format of the lectures are easy to follow. The essay prompts are straight forward and if you listen in class he basically tells you exactly what to write about. The tests are specific, but everything thats on the test is on the study guide.
His expectations are very clear, so it's easy to get an A in this class with a little bit of effort. He also does fill in the blank notes, so that's really easy to follow. That said, the class always feels a little in the weeds, and is definitely Catholic oriented.
This class is fairly easy and straightforward. Lots of small homework assignments with lots of reading. It's really just memorization and not too hard overall.
Really good professor, lectures are great. Daily reading assignments, but they're only a paragraph so its not bad. Go to class & turn in work and its free.
I enjoyed this class! Readings are assigned weekly but aren't needed to understand the lectures. Assignments are graded by a TA in the Friday breakout sessions, so grades are dependent on how harsh your TA is. If you have a problem with grades, Prof Roberts will allow regrading. Study guides are broad, but master them and you will ace the exams!
If you're planning on taking religion, I definitely suggest Roberts. The class itself was decently interesting, and lectures consisted of fill in the blank notes (which weren't even necessary for the tests) tests were EASY as long as you memorized the study guide, only annoying part was the reflections due b4 each class, not hard but inconvenient.
Take Roberts for religion! Class was very straightforward, grades are based on 3 tests, 2 papers, and 1 group project. Provides fill in the blank notes for lectures and study guides cover everything that is asked on the test. Group project is relatively easy.
Interesting course & clear expectations. Really just short weekly reflections, 2 papers, 2 tests- given detailed study guide. Only thing was he changed attendance policy halfway thru semester from 3 no questions asked absences to no absences allowed during class project. Just wish there was a warning, I had been saving up my absences. Great class.
Great professor, textbook is useless but helps a lot with writing the papers. Stopped going to class halfway through the year because lectures are fill-in notes he does during the lectures, yet provides a study guide before every exam. 3 exams, 2 papers, 1 group project all graded by the TA so if you get a bad TA like I did, take a different class.
Dr. Roberts is an amazing professor and is very helpful with essay advice, but overall your success in the class is dependent on who your TA is. The class is 3 exams, 2 papers and 1 pair project and all of them are graded by your TA. Roberts gives clear study guides and is very accessible, definitely recommend this class for the culture credit!
Dr. Roberts sets the class up so you can succeed, lectures + reading is not technically required but I definitely encourage it if you want to succeed. Main emphasis is on the study guides, commit them to memory because 95% of whatever is on the study guide will be on the exam.
Dr. Roberts sets the class up for students to do well, while readings and lectures are not mandatory, I encourage you do them and commit study guides to memory as 95% of the study guide is on the exam.
Super approachable! Lectures are not mandatory and honestly not worth going to. Lectures on pre-posted fill in the blank notes that you don't need. Online quizzes every two weeks are open note and study guide. Every Friday you are required to go to a breakout class taught by your TA, which is the only downside. Overall, would recommend!
Dr Roberts is awesome! He makes notes that are very easy to take as long as you come to class. He is clear with his grading and always provides feedback if you get less than a 100. If you put in any effort to study for this class then the exams are not bad. One paper, you can pick from a list of topics/corresponding due dates, so much appreciated
I really liked Dr. Roberts, his classes were always very chill and lectures are fill-in-the-blank. His tests are also very easy if you study at all. My only issue was (just for honors?) that we had reflections based on the reading due before every class which got tedious VERY quickly. They weren't hard, but usually took 1hr+ if you actually read.
Dr. Robert's class was very enjoyable. It is not particularly difficult to get a good grade in his class. The reflections before every class were the most difficult part for me, so be ready to read. However, his tests were easy if you study the given study guides, as the info on them pretty directly translates to the exams.
Dr. Roberts was a great religion teacher, avoiding bias for the most part. Grades consisted of seven online quizzes, two essays, and one group project. Great GPA booster but also an interesting class. Would highly recommend taking during a heavy course-load semester!
Dr. Roberts is a great guy who genuinely cares about his students and does a great job organizing his course to be easy to learn online. Short Summer session is only 4 weeks so there is a LOT of reading per week, but it can be skimmed through. Grade is based on 6 discussion posts, 6 quizzes, and a group project.
Class was really easy, just the response papers were a little tricky, but that might have been my TA. overall an easy class with no mandatory attendance or final
Dr. Roberts does not take attendance, but we have TA breakout sessions once a week and those are mandatory (depending on the TA). The response papers are more difficult, and the quizzes are online and timed. This semester they added a randomized partner project, which is a pain. Easy prof, but boring class. No final or exams.
Classes are lecture/filling in guided notes. The textbook is required and serves as the basis for daily reflection submissions that are graded pretty harshly. Tests are completely based on study guide. He is willing to help improve your grade if you reach out after the exam. 1 Module Response Paper is required/graded by TA and one group project.
easy class
Professor Roberts is clearly very knowledgeable in the field of religion, teaching the lectures without any references or notes. He provides a very detailed study guide that makes tests easy to prepare for. Be prepared for nightly reading reflections and mandatory attendance.
Dr. Roberts is really great! His lectures are attendance optional, but whenever I went I really enjoyed listening to him. Grades for this class are made up of two essays, one project, and 6 quizzes. The essays were the most difficult part of the class, but he gives you lots of freedom in the prompt, and the TAs grade pretty nicely.
Class was good but heavy on lecture and essay. I wish it had focused more on Catholic theology as a whole, but its mainly history of the church and progressive Catholic ideology. It was a good course, but you can tell right away Dr. Robert's political and religious views--which is fine, but then the content delivered comes off as more opinionated.
EASY class: no attendance except for Friday breakouts. Lectures were fill-in notes. Still made As on every quiz w/out going to class. Grades are online, at home quizzes, two papers, and a group project. Super easy highly recommend.
Attendance is only required during the Friday breakout sessions, but in class lectures are not. Great professor who is passionate about what he teaches. Notes are fill-in the blank and can be found online. Grades consist of: 2 papers, a group project, and 6 quizzes. The papers can be a bit difficult, but Dr. Roberts and TAs are always happy to help
No final, 6 quizzes with no camera outside of class open note, no tests or final, two response papers, and one group project. Didn't go to class after the first day. Monday and Wednesday are no attendance, but Friday is a TA led class so it's up to them. Easy A if you can write a basic paper, honestly you don't really need the textbook.
6 big quizzes, 2 big papers, and 1 presentation. All are pretty easy and clearly defined. There is a textbook you'll have to buy but Roberts makes interpreting the information pretty easy. Attendance isn't mandatory. Good and easy class.
I thought Dr. Roberts was a great professor! I'm already interested in religion in the first place, so maybe that's why I enjoyed the class, but I thought he was really kind and amicable while also still being exceptional at explaining the topics in classroom lectures. Very light quizzes where you're allowed to use your study guide.
Take this. Classes are not mandatory and exams are easy and you can use a study guide (take home as well). Would be a good class to add for an already busy or tough schedule. Don't need textbook but would suggest for the group projects and essays- rent a used one.
The class may seem like a lot at the beginning of the semester, and it took me a second to understand the structure of the class. But overall, it was really easy. You are graded on 6 quizzes (all take home, easy to get 100%), 2 papers (the toughest part of this class imo), and 1 partner presentation (which was really chill). Take this class!
Class was very simple and not too difficult. If you do well on the easy quizzes, put a little bit of effort into the two papers, and basically just present an easy final project, you will get an A.
Professor Roberts is extremely nice and knowledgeable. Take him for 1001 if you can, he makes it really easy to get a good grade. You really do not have to do the readings to succeed in the class, just review the study guide before you take any assessment!
Professor Roberts' class is very simple, and he is a very caring man. He understands that not everyone taking this class will pursue religion academically, and it's very apparent. All of his lectures have guided notes, his quizzes are take-home, and you have one presentation, which was very easy. Overall, this is a good class for a GPA boost.
Great teacher, very straightforward. Gives guided notes each for lectures. 2 of the days he lectures, and on fridays the TAs do. Grade is made up of 6 quizzes, 2 essays, and 1 project. Essays and project is graded by TA (so could be bad depending on TA), but the quizzes are very easy and fair if you just read the textbook and go to lecture. 10/10
Loved him. Very chill class. Study the study guide and your notes and it is an easy A. There are a lot of reflections that can be time consuming at times, but nothing too challenging. Please take him. He cares a lot for his students and is very passionate about what he does. Not a class you have to worry about.
Roberts is smart and caring, and really just wants everyone to think deeply and come up with something original to say. He isn't a Catholic (yet, it seems) but still will give you a good overview of the institution and the problems that matter. Not all encompassing, but accessibly and interesting. Hope you'll give this guy a chance, he's worth it!
Didn't go to any lectures and got an A. just go to the breakout session and use the quiz guides it's all you need
