Awesome! Seriously! This is the best class I've had at Stony so far. Lectures are not to be missed and plenty of extra-credit and the tests are easy. Prof Rose is amazing! Love this class!

seriously if u are a pol science mayor this is the guy you need to take. He is very very knowledgeable in the subject and a GREAT person to talk to outside class. personal favorite. keeps class so interesting that even if your not a pol science mayor u don't want to miss this class.

Easy A the exams are so easy I took this for a DEC F as a science Major and I got an A. Great Person too. I don't think anyone got below a B in the class.

THE BEST! I took this class as a DEC F (I'm a science major), but he is so enthusiastic and knowledgable about his subject that he transfered his enthusiasm to me and I'm now minoring in Political Science. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended because he gives quizes... TAKE HIM!

He is extremely funny and nice, not to mention that he is a great lecturer. His power points are very straightforward and you don't need to buy the textbook. All of the test & quiz questions come from the power points. He gives pop quizes, so you should go to class. But he also gives a lot of extra credit in case you miss any. Awesome guy!

Fantastic teacher. Very knowledgable & enthusiastic. His tests come straight from the power points. He gives enough extra credit to not mess up, however he makes the class is so simple extra credit is unnecessary. Great teacher. Took this class over summer. my best experience in college. Not only is the professor great, he bought us all pizza for showing up to a movie he gave us extra credit for. AND he took our class on a tour of the UN AND we all had lunch with the Iranian ambssador. he has crazy connections.he also helped some students get interships. the BEST!

This class was great. Prof digresses into stories about Jefferson and hamiton and Lincoln all the time. It makes him go off the syllabus... my one complaint about the class. but it I learned so much. He shows alot of videos too which is good. Use the powerpoints as notes and you will get an A :P

Easy A. You get all the questions for the final exam from the midterms. If you can't get an A in this class then you don't belong in college. Some of the material is boring even though he tries to keep it high energy and fun. But I learned a ton

Easily the best professor I've ever had. All the tests are so easy, and he gives short 5 question quizzes which are taken directly from the midterms. He is helpful with problems if you make an effort to talk with him, and he puts all of the lecture notes online. Such a personable and funny professor too.

This class was phenomenal! He's a tough grader on the papers, which are the "tests" but he really helps you improve your writing for the research paper. We did case studies of wars and the way he lectures and goes so deep into the psychology of the leaders was completely fascinating. I felt so smart after this course!

Awesome professor!! Really enthusiastic and nice. If you just put in the minimum effort, you will DEFINITELY get an A. If you want an A and want to learn about REAL stuff and become a more informed, well articulate person, take this class with Rose. Like I said, do the work, you will DEFINITELY get the A. Trust me. Class is extremely easy. Notes are put online and the tests come straight from the powerpoints. Quizzes are given at the end of each power point but they are easy. The final is a joke. Take this teacher if you can. BEST TEACHER EVER. Made me a political science major.

In my academic career he has been one of my favorite and most respected professors. He doesn't try to trick or confuse his students and he is a very fair grader. He designs the class so that his students will get an A and he's amazing at getting great internships for his students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

If you want an easy A take him. If you want to be challenged and learn a ton of information don't take him. His lectures are crystal clear and power points are the exam. If you can't pass him exams, I don't know what to tell you. He is caring about his students always concerned if he is going too fast, etc.

I LOVED LOVED this class! Prof Rose is a great lecturer! I learned so much more than I thought I would. The tests are right off the power point slides. He doesn't try to fool you or trick you. I took POL101 and INT401 with Professor Rose. He is brilliant professor(and funny) But 101 was easy, fun and interesting but 401 was really hard. Red ink all over everyones paper! If you can't write well, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

He's really sweet and helpful but he goes off on tangents too often. The class is ridiculously easy if you stick to reviewing the notes. Don't bother with the optional paper or the textbook and I can guarantee he won't answer your emails. He's really intelligent and manages to make the class interesting and easy.

He calls everyone brilliant but honestly he is brilliant and I could listen to him talk forever. He is super nice and sweet when you visit him. He has internships lined up for his students! He actually values his students and it shows. Plus he is funny and just hands down the best professor at Stony Brook. <3 <3 Love this guy!

Teacher is extremely fair class consisted of two midterms and a final. He highlighted the notes that were important for the midterms and the final was a combination of both 50 question midterms which he puts up on blackboard so there is no reason not to get a 100.

I really learned A LOT, every class is like a professional seminar and we had loads of interesting discussion. Grades are only based on midterm and final essays, he helps you improve in writing. He's just amazing and a great motivation! I'm sad that this is my last semester, I'd like to take his other classes. Really recommend his class!

Easily one of my favorite teachers ever. Tests are not hard if you come to class and do the reading. Lectures are always interesting, it's impossible to fall asleep with the great stories he tells. He really gets into it sometimes. Attendance isn't taken but you will WANT to go to class. Overall amazing professor, HIGHLY recommended

Prof Rose is a powerful and engaging lecturer. My favorite. He explains things with such clarity and passion and in ways you don't expect. Even the boring stuff was interesting. Class is easy because you WANT to go! He's always there for you in office hours too. Tests are right from class lectures. You HAVE to take him if you get the chance.

This teacher is amazing. Everyone should at least take one of his classes. If you feel like a topic he's going over is boring, he'll notice and try to make it more interesting. I love going to his class. His tests are pretty easy, and he basically will tell you the exact question and answer to some of the test questions.

What makes Rose so great is that his lectures are amazing. Seriously! I'm a Republican and he is NEVER partisan. I appreciated that! He argues ALL sides of an issue and he's not preachy and condescending like so many other professors. He gives you the info and the arguments and lets you draw your own conclusions. Also very funny! Honestly I found his lectures boring because I have no interest in international relations. But he is an amazing professor and is very passionate about his work. i've never seen a professor more enthusiastic about a subject like he is. Some of his lectures were interesting and he has funny videos to go along.

Take this professor if you have a chance!! He gives fascinating lectures and he can make you excited to go to an 8:30 AM class! He has reasonable expectations and is clear about what he wants on tests. He also gives lots of extra credit.

I want to be a political science major after taking professor rose. This is the kind of class you go to college for. his lectures were great. interesting and funny. he tells you exactly what he is going to test you on so the stress level is low and if you put in the effort you will get an A. I learned more in this class than any other so far.

He is a chill guy and is someone you would make friends with. Jason makes learning funny and enjoyable at times. There are surprise quizzes but he *helps* on the questions so it wont be a problem. Also the tests are multiple choice which is cool of him.

Great Professor but not an easy A if you have no interest in history or political science. His test are not impossible but you really have to study for it, he sends out a review sheet a couple of days before the exam. Also he never post up your grades for exams or quizzes so make sure you keep track of your grades yourself when he goes over quizzes

He is inspiring and full of passion. Clear study guides. Tests wont be too difficult if you pay attention to classes and study review sheets carefully. Most important tip for his class PAY ATTENTION TO POPUP QUIZES. Never make any assumption of when there wont be quiz. His popup quizes are impressive.

He is really a nice and cute professor. You will learn a lot about politics as long as you pay attention in class. He leads you to consider the world correctly. He helps you to understand what government is and how it impacted our life. Really nice guy! Ill give him an A!

He literally gives you the exam questions in the lecture and even tells that he is doing it.

Honestly, if you fail this class, you probably didn't show up. The class consists of some unannounced in-class quizzes so try to be there often. Most tests are super easy as long as you read the review sheet and slides. A few questions may include in-class ideas though. Overall, Rose is probably one of the most entertaining professors at SBU.

Professor Rose is an awesome professor, he is super funny, and tries to make class fun even when the topics arent interesting. He teaches at Suffolk Community College and Stony Brook University(so whichever college you are at take him!!!) highly recommend

His lectures are a DREAM come true. Extremely likable, friendly and knowledgeable. I rec him to people who don't even have this specific area of study.

His exams aren't always easy, but his lectures are amazing, its hard not to pay attention to him. He makes this class very enjoyable whether or not you are into POL classes. I appreciate that he isn't obviously liberal nor obviously conservative, he gives both sides and respects both. He said the class would be an easy A but that's not true.

Great professor - he goes over everything in class and delivers insightful lectures. If you take notes on what he says, the tests should be easy. The only catch though is that he has a habit of going off-topic and falling behind schedule.

Brilliant professor. I enjoyed taking his class. Easy course - he makes politics fun. However, our class did fall very behind(we stayed on slides too long at times), we basically had 3 exams including final all on top of each other. I found that very stressful. But hes awesome, take him!! Hopefully your class wont fall behind like ours did!

Dr. Rose is an amazing professor. I really enjoyed taking his class this semester. He knows a lot about politics and government. He worked for congress, and his knowledge is just outstanding! Hes a very funny guy and always made my class laugh! He gives 3 exams (online) I wish they werent all right on top of each other though. Take him, take him!

Hes really awesome. Tests are take home(online). Few pop quizzes, easy considering he helped out my class. Textbook isnt required but I purchased for the 5 pg essay. No hw, attendance is not mandatory but you should go anyway. He curses a bit much but hes overall a great caring funny respectful guy!! He does hold class to the last second though.

Professor Rose is very intelligent. He knows a lot about Politics. He has worked in Congress himself and is very knowledgeable. If I had to say one negative - he holds the class the whole time. Otherwise he was outstanding and I really enjoyed taking his class! Who knew politics could be fun?

This online class was great. Prof used video lectures with reading the two books and it really really helped to see what the authors were getting at. He added lectures on political psychology which really helped. Learned a lot and the class was awesome. Case studies on war were the best part. 2 short papers and one longer term paper.

Professor Rose is amazing!!! I really like the way he teaches. Class is an easy A if you look over the review sheet for the test. The review sheet basically has all the answers on it. Impossible to fail this class! I wish he let us leave early though!

Professor Jason Rose truly wants you to take something away from his class. Hes an amazing teacher and pushes you to think outside the box and from different perspectives. Me, being a conservative, love to see this as it lets our view and opinions be heard too.

In his syllabus it says participation and attendance is graded but he's really chill about it. He is honestly the best professor I had he's really accommodating and understands the difficulty of some assignments so he makes it as easy as he can while still teaching you. He is very smart and knowledgeable in his field. LOVES to give extra credit!

He goes on tangents at times, but his lectures are extremely enjoyable and makes the info easy to understand. There's pop quizzes, but if you show up to take it, then you are guaranteed to do well. His exams are easy if you go over the slides a little and complete his review guide that he sends out. Extra credit is going to or helping at events.

Professor Rose shows GREAT enthusiasm in both his straightforward lectures and his offbeat and funny personality. He takes material that would otherwise be boring and makes teaching about politics and government into something exciting while still being educational.

Professor Rose made an otherwise not so great semester interesting to me. While I normally wouldn't care much about the material, he lectures in a way that makes me really want to do well in his class. Before taking his class, I had a lot of doubts that my points of view were wrong, but Professor Rose taught me that my opinion was just as valid.

I'm a Biology major at Adelphi and I took Prof Rose's intro class. He's absolutely amazing. His class is super entertaining and keeps everyone awake at 8 am. He's the sweetest and most caring professor. You do need to know how to write well to do well in his class, but assignments are not hard and you have more help than you could possibly need.

Had Professor Rose both for POL 102 and then for LDS 102 (the UGC seminar). Amazing professor, really straightforward with his expectations, and his lectures are fun and filled with lots of interesting information. He's a terrific lecturer and I highly recommend taking him for POL 102; exams are online and he prepares you well. Highly recommend!!!

AMAZING class! Best online class! Prof. Rose reads EVERY word of your papers and sends them back for improvement. He is very tough grading the papers, but he lets you write multiple drafts to get to an A. This class vastly improved my writing and vastly improved my knowledge of International Relations. Extremely rewarding and fulfilling course.

Rose really is a very personable and likable man. He knows how to connect to us and relate. What I like most is how he thinks of analogies and examples that would better our understanding of a subject. His quizzes are easy if you payed attention to the lecture, and sometimes he assists in the answers. Hilarious and makes you look forward to class:)

Professor Rose is fair in what he expects from his students: show up to class and dont talk. Going to class is recommended because unannounced pop quizzes are given, and professor does not allow you to make them up. One of my favorite professors I've ever had. I took as many classes with him as I could. He is so enthusiastic and cares about if you do well. He clearly REALLY knows what he is talking about and makes classes that I usually find boring into my favorite classes. His lectures are so funny and he gives so much life to the material.

grading was determined by only two things so if you're ok with everything falling on a paper and an exam this class is good for you. professor is very opinionated and will berate students for their own beliefs. i suggest not disagreeing with him in order to get a good grade.

I changed my major to polsci because of this class. He reminds me of an evangelical preacher only he argues all sides of things and makes you think about what you really stand for. has a way of explaining things that makes it easy, so the class was pretty easy. Very funny too. Loved this class.

You can tell from his lectures that Prof Rose is excited about history. This class is only graded by 4 discussion boards and 3 test grades. Great professor and essay A!

Prof. Rose is a great professor for this class since he has been involved in the world of politics and you can learn a lot from his experience. His lectures were very interesting and he is very funny and he shows that he really loves this subject. Theres no reason for failing just study the slides and his study sheets and you will do great.

When I saw that the grade would be determined by 2 things- the exam and a paper, I was scared. But he gives you the tools you need to succeed. I always learned a lot during his classes even when I dozed off. He's understanding and just an amazing professor. If you take him, you're lucky.

One of the most SUPERIOR professors in this university! I can never get over his hilarious prerecorded lectures. Coming from an Electrical Engineering background, where for obvious reasons I'm taking this class as an SBC, he makes the course literally one of the easiest, yet you learn a lot. I will miss this guy's humor once this semester ends!

He is a very engaged and passionate professor with whatever he teaches, and I appreciate his energy and knowledge. My only criticism is that he does not get straight to the point and that his lectures should be cut down (some were more than 2 hours) but overall easy A & will learn a lot

Easy class, and his lectures are pretty entertaining because he's very animated and passionate. Only critique would be he tries to cram way too much into his lectures, and gets off topic very easily, but still a very easy A, and he offers a ton of extra credit.

I liked this class. He's a great professor, but we spent the majority of the course on UK history rather than the other lectures. His tests aren't the worst, but you have to read the questions carefully. Make your own review sheets if he doesn't provide them. Also, show up to class, because if enough people skip, he'll hold pop quizzes.

This was a great war studies class. There are two papers and a midterm and he offers lots of extra credit. He wants you to do well in the class. He's a great professor. Any class with him is a good one to take.

Easy online class, exams are open book

Professor Rose gets straight to the point and you do not get a heavy workload from his class, get about five discussion boards and three exams in the course that are open book. If you fail his class then that was because you were lazy, he also drops your lowest discussion board grade so overall a pretty easy class overall.

Prof Rose is one of those professors that you can just tell care a lot about his students passing. He gave multiple extra credit opportunities and his exams are open note. Lectures can get a little long, but still a lot of interesting information within them.

Professor Rose is an amazing lecturer and passionate about his job! Very easy class! 2 midterms, 1 final, 4 discussion boards (drops lowest one). All open notes! Answers to exams are found right in the lectures (he legit tells you the answers). Assignments are so easy and fair. Only downside, his lectures can get very long, such as 3 hours.

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had - his lectures are a bit long but I never found myself getting bored because he's so passionate and funny; super easy to get the A.

This course is an easy A and Prof. Rose says it himself. Don't skip out on the lectures. A lot of the answers to the test questions are said verbally on not on the slides, so take good notes too. Super helpful and just overall an amazing professor. If I was in poli sci I would 100% take every class I can possibly take with him. Very enjoyable lectures would honestly love to take something like this in person.

Amazing professor! His lectures are genuinely enjoyable and really funny at times. If you take good notes and do all the assignments (discussion boards), you're good to go.

Professor Rose's POL102 is an enjoyable class with engaging lectures. Stay on top of the work, and you'll likely earn a solid grade. Unstuck study's practice quizzes were a great supplement for exam prep.

Doesn't get better than Jason Rose. Seriously. I was always bad at history classes, but I felt like I was listening to my cousin during his lectures. He's so chill and so interesting and fun to learn from!! He's amazing at engaging people, and all of his lectures were online. The only assignments were 4 DBs, midterm, and final. Super easy A.

If u have this Professor U are soo lucky I have hem at Suffolk, Great person. He isn't scared of saying things clear. Earned respect from entire class. Amazing. 2nd time taking Prof. Rose! He deserved yet another 5-star rating. Most compassionate professor I've ever had and incredibly intelligent. Nothing but good things to say!

This is a challenging course. Prof. Rose is clear about what he expects, and he truly sets these expectations so that you succeed. Incredibly compassionate, this was my 3rd time taking him! This class is only graded on papers, and they are definitely not easy, but pay attention in class and work hard and you'll succeed!

Professor Rose is a distinguished and amazing professor that I have ever worked with. He will go out of his way to make sure you get an A for the course. Writing is indeed difficult to shine at; however, he will walk you through to write a publishable paper. This is almost a graduate level course, to expect the content to be advanced.

The GOAT. Don't listen to the SBU reddit, they make up like 2% of the SBU population. He leans right but is not a right winger, these college kids can't handle someone that is slightly outside of their agenda. He is awesome and kind. He makes an amazing point first lecture. "Most students aren't challenge for their beliefs, they live in bubbles."

He's awesome. Found him to be an amazing teacher who makes his political stances clear (rare) without trying to influence his students. The lectures were super engaging despite being an online course and if you put the work in (SUPER manageable: 3 online exams and 4 discussion boards) you will get an easy A.

Loved his online lectures. Class was very straightforward and simple.

His online class was pretty straight forward, there were 4 discussion boards based off of videos and readings he provided and 3 tests which were multiple choice.

Professor Rose is hands down one of the best professors I've had so far. He is super knowledgeable and gave us a view of how the topics we learned related to current events. I felt the class was approachable to all majors. Not too much work and enjoyed it
