This guy is smarter then god and a great teacher! soo funny. will stay with you for hours until you understand the material. TAKE HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!
hes sooo funny, and will go on tangents if you ask him questions about weird stuff in class. also very smart and helpful, gives good review sheets for exams:)
Great teacher, very funny guy, his intellegence blows your mind, willing to help you until you get it right. He has funny tangents too, but gets the work done. Take him, you cant go wrong!
Hilarious teacher!! Very smart, is willing to help students any way he can. Class is a little fast pace: GO TO OFFICE HOURS, you can't go wrong if you're one on one with him with the work. Very straightforward with tests. Just really helpful. Take him!!!
one of the most intellegent people i have ever met, and will help you until you understand the material. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! that is how i got through the course. Great Guy, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
he's a funny guy, loves to go on tagents whenever possible and his tests are not that bad if you study the notes he gives you. all in all, a good teacher. take him if possible.
very good teacher...goes off on hilarious tangets!! will explain things to you until you understand. tells you whats on quizes and gives study guides for tests.
AWESOME! He's a little flamming, but grades easily, quizzes and tests are no-brainers, doesn't lecture endlessly, answers questions, loves tangents and talks about anything in class! And no attendance but I would go anyway for fun.
Awesome.
A stellar man - great stories, amusing tangents, occasionally teaches math (and does it well), and lets you have class outside. Makes himself very available and grades fairly. :)
AWESOME PROFESSOR!!! Easy A! No Homework, no attendance. Take it!!!
You'll love this class, take him if you can.
great guy, hard class!! he is very passionate about math. goes on lots of tangents, but somehow always makes it back to math. exams are HARD. quizes are easy. also likes take home exams as well. don't take them lightly.
Great guy. Enjoyable class. Makes an hour and 15 minutes go by fast. Teaches well and lets you know what to expect on quizzes/tests. You will learn/discuss more than just math. Also likes to teach outside on nice days.
so pointless... goes by so slow... it's the easiest class you'll ever take. be prepared to only talk about math for like 20 mins of an hour and 15 min class... HE TANGENTS ALL THE TIME!! easy tests and quizzes
Pretty good teacher. From talking to friend I can tell he's really easy compared to other professors teaching this same class. Always available during office hours. I would recommend him if you need to take this class.
take it. tangents pretty standard w every class, attendance not taken, tests and quizzes very easy. funny guy, fun class. highly recommend
Prof. Rosenhouse is amazing. I hated math before this class and I now actually find it interesting. He quizzes a lot, but they are fairly easy. Tests can be challenging- he likes to make you think (but that's what college is about). He's a very smart guy with a terrific sense of humor. Recommended!
Rosenhouse enjoys the reasoning behind mathematics. He teaches at a slow pace due to his tangents; however, the exams were harder than expected with much more complicated problems than those demonstrated in lecture. The final grade is based on a curve from quizzes and three exams.
Honestly the people who rated him must love math, however if you are the average person who is not a math wiz and actually depends on the teacher to be clear in his lectures do not take this class, he is very confusing and hard to ask questions in class because he gives you smart ass remarks
Mannorisms are Hillarious. He once pranced across the room. You learn a lot more in this class than you think your learning at the time because he is really good at explaining things. You know what is expected of you by test time.

He is the coolest teacher alive! Take this class.
he finally taught me the quotient rule. smart guy and im pretty sure hes notbipolar and if you think so your a moron.
Unless you took AP Calculus in highschool do not take Prof. Rosenhouse. He is a nice guy and knows his math, but he can not teach it. He skips steps, goes very quickly, and assumes that everyone knows everything already. There is a quiz every Friday and he drops the two lowest quiz grades. He also curves, but it doesn't matter...STAY AWAY!
If you have to take calculus, take it with Dr. ROSENHOUSE! He is such a loser, but I love losers! And thats what makes the class interesting. His tests and quizzes are very predictable, if you go to class and DO THE HOMEWORK then you will do well. He is a very approachable person so if you have any doubts, ASK! something to clarify he's NOT bipolar
A really funny guy. Enjoys non-Math related conversations during class. Other than being a really nice guy, he's also a really good teacher. If you are having trouble, he's a very approachable person. He is also not bipolar.
He is a nice guy. He tries hard to be funny and its amusing. His teaching style and pace are fine considering you have taken a calculus class before. He tries to be accomodating and helpful, but often fails to do so.
Dr. Rosenhouse is such a cool teacher. Very clear and makes the class fun. makes good refrences to movies. take his class
Good teacher for graph theory. Always have fun in class, not always with graph theory but hey, fun is fun. Do the homework on assn. a week, the tests are take home. Make sure that you prove your answers with a formal proof, doesn't like messy handwriting or torn or wrinkled pages, likes a final copy (i.e. post rough draft) of homework. Great Prof.
Okay so this rating was mostly because he told us in class he really wanted a "hot" rating. J.R. is a very funny professor, but I suggest having previously taken calc in high school if you want to do this class or you will need to study.

No attendance policy and optional homework, but make sure to go to class at LEAST once a week or you are going to fail his weekly quizzes. Challenging if you've never taken calculus. And he reads all these entries, so... how you doin?
Great teacher overall, presented a generally boring topic (math) better than anyone I've ever had. Go to class, you'll learn so much more from him than the book. Tests are straightforward, medium difficulty. Sometimes wastes time at the end of class, when he could have let people leave, he talks about random things for half an hour....
Absolutely the best professor I've ever hard. You learn so much just from going to class. Often tells dirty jokes and wastes time to make class more interesting. Definately take him for any class. Smart, funny, and interesting!
I think I am falling in love. Dr. Rosenhouse is one SEXY BEAST! ENJOY! Who's house? Rosenhouse!
If you don't like Rosenhouse then I don't like you. You also have no sense of humor, style, or personality. In fact, I hate you. The subject sucked but he's funny and it helps time go by. He also deserves a red pepper, because he's that hot baby.
LOVE LOVE LOVED HIM! I had a hard time with calculus before, but he helped me a lot and made sense of most everthing for me. Quite endearing and funny jokes to keep class interesting. Highly recommend, and going to class is a fun thing not dreadful like most math classes. I actually walked out feeling like i understood calc for the first time.

Awesome teacher. funny. One of clearest teachers at JMU - he makes the most complicated things seem simple and automatic. TAKE HIM!
Rosenhouse is a so so teacher. He is very friendly, and relatively approachable. With that being said, calculus is a terrible subject and he justifies it somewhat. He never was able to tells us why we need to know calculus for our majors though. He also tends to go on random rants and talk about movies and tv for literally, the entire class.
Rosenhouse is the man! That's really all there is to say... he is the man!
Prof. Rosenhouse is pretty good. Very humorous, makes calculus somewhat enjoyable. I never took calculus in high school and did well in his class. Make sure you go to his problem session days, it makes all the difference. Hes pretty fair, just sometimes he may be a little too smart for this class. Take Him.
Wow, is this guy hilarious. Class meets 4 times a week. I always attended lectures because they are so entertaining: half the class period is spent talking about House or other TV shows. Contrary to the person below me, I never went to "problem day" and did just fine. I also took calc in HS though so it probably depends on the person.
Rosenhouse is not the best. He is very confusing and tends to come to class late every day. He will then proceed to just flip open the book and start to babble about whatever page he lands on. He also spends excess time talking about things not related to Calc like the show House and his cats and baseball. I wouldn't take his class at all costs.
AMAZING made calc fun. go to his office hours! i only went to his office, and never went to class and made a A-. He tells u what on the tests.
Definitely one of the top math professors at JMU. Lectures are very entertaining and informative. He'll often go off on some tangent about his cats, talk about House, or bat at the pull string for the projector screen.
Dr. Rosenhouse is an amazing teacher. He tends to spend half of every class on wild tangents but they are usually pretty entertaining. His tests and quizzes are always fair and he gives lots of partial credit. No attendance or homework. Great guy, definitely worth taking!
He seems very bubbly and outgoing when you first get to know him but he does have a sarcastic and bitter side. He is brilliant and doesn't suffer fools kindly. He is a fair grader and helpful in office hours. Class is always interesting if only because Rosenhouse is a fascinating study in psychology.
Excellent math teacher. BUT, he spends half the class talking about his personal life. He gives his political views, talks about movies, TV shows, and we watch a lot of YouTube videos about magic and juggling. Bottom line: he's good at teaching math just know that you'll probably have to put up with a lot of spiel unrelated to math.
Professor Rosenhouse is an excellent math teacher. Last rater is right about how he spends a lot of time talking about himself but, he's funny as heck. Very entertaining stories. He's quirky to say the least, a bit effeminate. I definitely recommend Rosenhouse, if for no other reason than to have a good laugh. BTW: the TV show "House" SUCKS!!!
take him! he is so funny and makes the class bearable. class is not mandatory, i only went twice a week and ended up with a b+. if you dont feel like doing math talk about House (hes obsessed) or his cat. overall i loved him and wanna take him again
He's hilarious and will keep you laughing the whole class, but as far as teaching goes he's def not the best. Only half the lecture at most is about calc! If math doesn't come easy to you, I'd recommend someone better at actually teaching and explaining difficult concepts.
If you are a math person, this is an easy class. He only spends about 15-20 per class talking about math. The other part is spent talking about House or some other tangent he went off on. So you don't cover much material which makes it easier. The tests and quizzes aren't too bad and if you go to him, he'll help you.
He is clearly smart, but he unfortunately has more interest in entertaining himself than in actually teaching math to his class. He tells stories most of the time and only works one or two example math problems each lecture. He will help you if you go to office hours, but if you want to learn math, find a teacher interested in teaching.
Rosenhouse was SO funny. I loved going to class because we hardly ever spent the whole class period talking about Calculus. He is a fair grader and if you need help, go to him during office hours. Although he knows his stuff, if you struggle with Calculus and need every step explained, I would suggest a diff. teacher. But I want to take him again!
Jason always new how to make you laugh, and I'm sure he knows his stuff, but if I had not taken calc before this class I would not have done to well. I would suggest a different professor if your new to the subject
Rosenhouse is probably the funniest teacher I have ever had. Basically he spends the first 10 or 15 minutes of class talking about different subjects such as movies or politics or personal stories and keeps you laughing the entire time. After that he goes over the material for the majority of class and only quizzes on what he went over. No HW!!
Professor Rosenhouse is great! He really explains the topics to you and really focuses on why you need to do each step. He is SUPER helpful in office hours too. This is my second shot at this class and I am doing really well. You do have to put time outside of class time in order to really do well. I would recommend him! Funny guy too!
He is amazing at explaining obscure/difficult/abstract concepts in a clear way. He is the Tiger Woods of math education.
This dude is a bizarre character, but a really GREAT TEACHER! He makes the material easy enough to understand, easy grader, and also makes the material a breeze to learn if you are willing to do examples in the book. Although the quizzes every week are a bit annoying, this guy should be your #1 choice for Math 231
This class in general is a difficult class, however I think Rosenhouse does a nice job at teaching it. Tests are hard. Hard in a sense that most people fail the test. But his office hours are very useful!
Professor Rosenhouse is the first teacher I have ever had that has gotten me to look forward to going to a math class. He goes through step by step and has this method of explaining complex concepts in simple ways that get the point across perfectly. He also really gets you to understand exactly what it is you are doing and why it is useful.
Rosenhouse is the best! I've never taken calculus before so I was really worried I wouldn't do well and I've had a lot of very bad math teachers in the past. Rosenhouse explains everything and is more than willing to help you if you need it. He's personality really makes the class enjoyable and entertaining. Would definitely recommend.
You only go to class to be entertained and get a basic idea of the ch. Notes help with HW (not collected but is the key to success in the class). You can (and will) dig yourself a hole SO QUICKLY in this class! It is set up so people who are'nt good at math HAVE to go to office hours to get individualized instruction. Depends on how much you care!!
I loved having Rosenhouse as a teacher! His class attendance is not taken but the first day. Homework is not graded or checked. Quizzes are super easy and the tests are easy except for one problem usually. I would suggest taking him over anyone!
Jason talks A LOT and wants his class to be engaging. he doesn't care at all if you come to class, hw is not collected but doing it will be the key to your success. Hw + office hours and attending most of class is all you need to get a good grade!
Rosenhouse is hilarious! his classes are always entertaining! you'll hear a lot about his two cats. He has has a nerdy star trek side, a sassy black girl side, and a sarcastic side. The mix is absolutely brilliant! He sort of reminds me of youtuber Toby Turner...
Every week is the same so you know what to expect, begins with lectures, the lab days are question days, and the last day of the week is normally always a quiz. He's a really nice and funny guy whose punny math jokes will get you through the class alone and teaches in a very insightful way! Better than most of what I've heard of.
Funny and down to earth teacher but don't take his class if you didn't take calc in highschool. He teaches by example and goes on rants but he's really helpful at office hours.
He is really funny. I never took calculus in highschool, so sometimes I tended to get lost but I went to his office hours and he helped me a lot. His tests are hard, but at the end of the year he curves the class a lot. Go to his review sessions - he clearly tells you some questions that will be on the exam.
Jason is a great teacher. He Keeps class entertaining and engaging. His stories and humor are great and halarious. If you can manage to get him focused he is a great teacher and one of the best teachers i have ever had. TAKE HIM!! His class was not easy by any means but manageable! His easy quies all add up to one of his 3 test! He does curve!
I love Jason! He was such a fun and entertaining teacher! Okay yeah calc is hard, and his test are only 7 problems, but his quizzes are very easy and he curves a lot. Also the more you go to his office hours and engage with him the better off you are. Its not hard to at least get a B. He loves to tell stories about his cats also! TAKE HIM
Challenging, yet fair. Exceptionally clear explanations during class. Humor appreciated! Almost never had to do homework. Poor response to emails.
Probably the best professor I've ever had. He inspired me to actually do math in the first place. I'm a science major with a poor interest, but Rosenhouse is a hilarious guy. The classes feel like they are only 15 minutes! Not only will help you, but he doesn't teach in a cliche way. If his class is open, SIGN UP IMMEDIATELY!
Hands down my favorite teacher I have ever taken. He is extremely funny and makes calculus that much easier to deal with. He is straight forward with what he wants on testsquizzes. He pulls problems from previous tests on the final! I'm very upset that I couldn't get into his lecture for Math 232. TAKE HIM!!
He is super helpful during lecture and attempts to make sure you understand all of the material. He loves when people come to office hours and is always willing to help. He gets off topic frequently, but it makes for a fun class! He assigns optional homework and it is in your best interest to do it. Best math professor ever!
Not for people who haven't taken calc in high school. Also, he skips the intro so catch up on algebra before his class.
He is a fantastic math professor! Goes off on long tangents, to the point where I'm not really sure how we got anything done. But we did, and he's literally the best math teacher I've ever had. You won't need a calculator because it's concepts that matter, not calculations. Would love to take classes with him again.
AWESOME TEACHER. He loves his job and really cares that you do well. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. Teaches the way it should be taught, understand the concept and then learn the calculations. He curves too! :) ... I hated trig in high school but surprisingly math is my favorite class this semester! TAKE HIM!!!!
Rosenhouse is an AMAZING professor. He is very goofy, sassy, and gets off topic very easily. He teaches you why things are the way they are which gives a better understanding of the material. It is an easy A if you pay attention in class and do the suggested homework. You only take 2 test plus the final, but you take 7 quizzes1test. TAKE HIM!!!
HE IS BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR THAT JMU HAS! He always made time to see me outside office hours. He wanted me to do well. He does get off topic but it nice to get a break from just talking about calculus. 100% would take again.
His explanations of everything are very clear and he breaks up the boringness of math with tons of jokes and great stories. Sometimes you'll hear the same story more than once, but it's okay because they're great. Definitely wish I could take him for 236 in the fall.
He's very smart and nice, but tests are hard.
He's very good at lecturing, and his ideas make calculus much more understandable. His tests are hard, but if you visit him during office hours he is very helpful.
Take him!! He's seriously awesome. Class is not mandatory, but he is so funny and entertaining that I never missed class. If you are new to Calculus, it is definitely doable but will be a bit of work. Gives weekly quizzes but they can definitely boost your grade if you do well. He is absolutely hysterical and SO entertaining.
Though he gets off topic, he really cares about the student's understanding of the material not just for memorization. There are very short quizzes every friday (2 questions) that, if you have been keeping up, are easy. Attendance and homework is not graded but very helpful. Slightly nutty but a really good guy. Class is easy if you pay attention.
Tends to ramble and joke a lot but I feel like he does it on purpose because he knows how boring calculus can be. Wants you to understand the concepts of calculus rather than memorize. Homework is not required but highly recommended. Two tests, 7 quizzes that count as a test and final with a curve.
Funniest professor i ever had! makes the class fun and is very helpful outside of class
There's a lot of homework in this class so be ready to do a TON of it and STUDY. You won't pass the tests if you study the night before; however, he's a good professor. Does tell a lot of jokes in the beginning of class
Very funny professor, but if I had not known calculus going into this class I would have struggled. Tells jokes all throughout his lecture which makes it fun. 10 quizzes and he takes your best 7 and 2 tests. Curves everything except quizzes. Always available in office hours.
Dr. Rosenhouse is the greatest calculus teacher I have had in my life. He really cares that you understand the content and is willing to help you at almost any time. His lectures are very interesting and actually fun to listen to. I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Judging from what I have heard about the other Math235 prof, he's definitely the easiest. So if you're not a math person, take him
Dr. Rosenhouse is a little socially awkward, but makes class enjoyable. Sometimes i wish he had notes in front of him to follow because he goes off on tangents, but overall a solid choice.
Honestly impressed by this guys ability to go off on crazy tangents for half the class that have nothing to do with calculus. Other than that though he's a decent professor and explains things pretty well. He's also kind of funny
-Makes calculus a pleasure to learn, and teaches his students not to accept things blindly. -He can go off on tangents, but sometimes they're fun, just don't get him started on politics. -Tests and quizzes are appropriately difficult, and the class is graded on a curve All and all, It is definitely worth it to go out of your way to take his class.
He is a pretty good professor. I would definitely recommend him. His class is enjoyable and fun.
Dr. Rosenhouse was the best calc prof I've had. Took him for calc 3 and although we had to put in effort to learn, usually if you're taking calc 3, that's not a problem. He is very understanding and relatable so he doesn't make anyone feel like they're doing bad in the class even if you don't know whats going on. Always available outside of class.
I was taking this class for fun but Rosenhouse is annoying so I dropped it... He's very easily distracted and goes off on long tangents. Do not take if you like being focused in class
Calc 3 is a very hard class and I wouldnt recommend taking it unless you have to and/or are willing to put in the work to pass. Dr. Rosenhouse is a professor who teaches by doing examples. Class mainly consists of textbook examples. He often goes off on tangents that are distracting but overall teaches the material well.
He thinks he's funny and he goes on tangents a lot. The first 15 minutes of class is dedicated to storytime. He teaches by example which is why it's best to attend class. He's a nice person just I don't feel like I learned much because of all the stories.
Dr. Rosenhouse is a solid choice for MATH 232. He can go off on tangents about non-calc related stuff, but is a funny guy. His lectures can also be a bit scattered. You're only graded on quizzes, two midterm exams, and a final, but he does curve at the end of the semester. Go to office hours, he gives potential quiz/exam problems.
Definitely take for 232. 9 quizzes (2 questions each), drops the 2 lowest, which then counts as a test grade. There are 2 exams which are very challenging, and a final which is straightforward and asks surface level questions to gauge basic understanding. Even if you fail the first 2 exams, you can still finish with a B+ if you do well on final!
Do not enroll in this class. he doesnt think that synchronous lectures to teach math is helpful. how can a student learn from reading calculus explained in a word doc and then apply it to problems? hes also randomly specific about how he wants certain things done and said. passive aggressive and lowkey condescending, not an approachable guy
You are only graded on 7 quizzes, 2 exams and a final, but I think he curves at the end. I took calc in highschool and this was easier than that. He kind of awkward but funny and a really good professor. He is great at explaining stuff and very easy to reach outside of class. I wish I could take another class with him. Low stress and made class fun
Had this class been in person, it would've been ok. Rosenhouse expected you to teach yourself calculus from reading a word doc of notes. I found him unapproachable, condescending, and picky about random things. Graded by two tests, the final, then he averages weekly quiz scores to count for a 3rd test. overall, pretty easy but a real headache
He has this whole thing at the beginning of the about how this is a math class about history, not a history class about math. He's lying. God help you if you take this early on, because he expects multiple history-style papers "at a 400" level quality. Not a History major and don't want super harshly graded paper's? Try a different class.
If I could take Rosenhouse every semester I would. The class was in person this semester and your grade was based on 3 exams and a final. That's it. However, his lectures are so entertaining and engaging he's so funny and goofy. He also gave me a new found love for math and confidence in the subject. His tests are fair and surface level. DOES CURVE
This was by far the best math class I have ever taken. Math has never been my best subject, but Prof Rosenhouse teaches everything down in a way that is easy to understand. Instead of giving you a formula and telling you "it works, trust me" he takes the time to break it down and explain WHY it works. I never felt lost in this class!
Prof. Rosenhouse is honestly such a sweet guy! He's really chatty and loves talking about whatever show he's watching at the moment. Grades are based on quizzes worst grade dropped at the end of the semester and exams midterms and one final. Attendance isn't mandatory and hw isn't graded, but if you want to pass, do both. Calc is hard!
Goes on so many tangents. I felt like I learned more about his life then the actual subject. Brags constantly about himself and his achievements. Assumes you know how to do the problems without teaching you how to do it. Sadly, he does choose favorites so if you have a class with him get on his good side. Would avoid if possible.
Jason Rosenhouse made math harder than what it should be. He assumed everyone knew how to write an amazing proof, or know material that we were never taught. He doesn't use a textbook, which makes things more confusing. Exams are hard, but the homework is easy. Brags about himself and how good of a person he is.
Ignore the bad ratings of this prof. I would take him for every class if I could. Attendance is not mandatory but everyone still goes because you need to in order to do well on the exams. There are 9 weekly quizzes with 1-3 problems, but they are super easy. The class is structured really well and he does everything on paper. Best prof hands down.
While he can take off points for small things he's very good at explaining not only how to do things but why they happen and even encourages different methods. His quizzes and tests can be hard since there are so few questions so make sure to do the HW even though its optional.
Dr Rosenhouse is awesome, he is funny and makes linear algebra enjoyable. The class isn't too hard if you have a solid math background. Dr Rosenhouse is very insightful and he will go out of his way to help you if you ask him. He is a chess wizard and also has books on Amazon. Very glad to have had him as an instructor.
Dr. Rosenhouse is the funniest professor I know. Calc 2 is not an easy subject, but he makes it bearable with constant jokes. Grade = 7 highest quizzes, 2 midterms + final (cumulative). Go to office hours if you're struggling. HW is optional, do it! He explains the material well and gives great examples. Every week there's a day to go over problems
Rosenhouse is so awesome. After this semester he said he's teaching for a year in Colorado Springs but he'll be back to JMU after. I had him for Math 103 for a gen ed and he was AWESOME. Attendance mandatory, u get like 3 skips, no quizzes/tests, we talk about the most random math concepts ever and it's the only math class I've liked.
best math professor ever, very funny guy who is reasonable and caring but doesn't like any bulls**t. gives a bunch of examples of how to do problems which is very helpful. he is one of the smartest people i have ever met. his website and books are pretty awesome as well and i reccomend checking them out. don't get a "yikes!" on your quizzes!
If you're looking for an easy A this class is for you, but be prepared to waste 3 hours of your time each week in his class. He can be funny at times, but his tangents often have little to do with what we're learning and he acts surprised when we aren't engaged in his class. He also is very unorganized and I found him to be quite condescending.
Super funny guy and has entertaining lectures that I usually feel have nothing to do with what we are learning, but actually do. Smaller homeworks and 2 essays, 1 smaller and 1 larger. Attendance mandatory but his class is fun to be in, if you enjoy dry humor and allow yourself to laugh at his silly jokes.
Dr. Rosenhouse is friendly and makes everything very easy to understand. I found the pace of the class pretty slow, there is no required homework, and attendance is not graded
Dr Rosenhouse was a fun professor! He tries really hard to be funny (all of the time) and sometimes it hits and sometimes it doesn't. He can often get sidetracked and we'll end up talking about Aldred Hitchcock or something. He grades on the harsher side but his policies are also very rewarding and student-favorable.
Great professor, and he does what he can to make a calc class as interesting as it can be. Always has energy for class, and explains topics thoroughly. Homework and attendance are both optional, you may not do the homework but at least show up to class, otherwise you'll be teaching yourself calc instead of from someone that can explain it well.
He likes to yap a lot in class so go to office hours WITH QUESTIONS, he'll help you a lot. I've never taken calc before so it was difficult but it got better with practice. His tests involve the content but are written in a way we need to think outside the box. don't skip or you won't know the content. He's a goofy guy so you won't get bored.
Funny professor who gets distracted a lot in class. Attendance isn't mandatory but he shows you how he does homework problems which will help you a lot on tests. Relatively easy course, but youtube videos helped me more than his classes or the textbook did.
CHOOSE Dr. Rosenhouse for your Calc professor and register for his class ASAP. Best math educator I have ever had, and he is hilarious. Graded by only quizzes, 2 mid-terms and 1 final exam (partial credit given) / Attendance is optional but necessary for success / HW is assigned but not mandatory/ Go to office hours/ No pop quizzes/ No Extra Credit
The only grades are 8 quizzes worth 10 points each (one is dropped), 2 tests worth 45 points each, and a final that is 105 points. There is no assigned homework but more or less if you do not do it you will not do well. What is actually expected of you on graded assignments is very simple but you have to have the motivation to do the work.
Jason may actually be one of my favorite professors at JMU. He is VERY aware of the fact that he is teaching a gen ed and that everyone has different relationships to math. He was so funny and never made you feel dumb for asking a question.
Very funny and good at teaching, the quizzes are only 3 questions but hes really big on partial credit. Attendance is mandatory. He posts the notes but they make more sense if you listen to the lecture. Hes cool
Attendance is mandatory but you get 5 excused absences until it affects your grade. Quizzes are 3 questions but he gives a lot of points for partial credit. Midterm and final are 7-12 questions. Pretty easy as long as you go over the notes before. He is super understanding. Would reccomend if you need an easy math course!
Hardest math for a 103 gen ed. He tried to make jokes but is passive aggressive and rude. He teaches new math I've never seen before so you MUST pay attention to do good. Quiz's are 3 questions and Tests are 10ish. He's a good teacher but bad person overall. You get 5 absences before it affects your grade.
Very funny guy and the course material is pretty easy. The only thing is that he often goes on tangents so it's really hard to take your own notes or follow his lectures. He's super enthusiastic though and it's overall a good class for people who don't like math.
Amazing professor. He's very understanding of any situation as long as you update him within a reasonable time. He doesn't give much homework and the quizzes and exams are reasonable. Attendance isn't mandatory but I strongly recommend attending class to listen to his lectures. You need to be in class in order to do well in the class.
If you're not good at math, take this guy. Actually, the nicest professor I've ever met. He's very set in his ways, but he's very sweet. Gives lots of extra credit on the test that you shouldn't receive. Always available to help. Got a 100 on every single quiz bc the questions were the exact ones in class, just with different numbers.
