Dr. Rudbeck's syllabus leaves decisions up to you. First, attendance is not mandatory; you can skip every day the whole semester and have just the final be worth 90% of your grade (+10% HW). Second, if you take all three earlier tests you can exempt the final, and he curves all tests 10%. Do a web search for his external website for more info.
Dr. Rudbeck is one of the best professors I have had so far! He really cares about his students and tries his best to make economics as simple as possible. He is great at explaining things and will try to explain difficult concepts in more than one way if you need help. He is very helpful and patient in office hours. Tests are difficult tho--study!
He is really a great teacher and cares if you do well, but wants you to put the work in and learn. He makes sure you understand the material through class examples. Going to class is huge for the tests, even though there is no mandatory attendance. He makes test questions off of class notes, which provides enough incentive to come to class.
Rudbeck is so awesome!!! He's HILARIOUS and explains everything so well I only had to study a few days in advance to make an A on every test. If you go to class (his notes aren't online) and listen, you don't need to read the book. I would 100% recommend taking him and I plan on taking him again. His tests are curved and he doesn't use +/- system.
Good funny teacher. He knows the materials well and is the best ECOn teacher I have so far at UGA. If you show up and take good notes, there is no way you won't come out with a B at least. The A requires a little more readings and also studying 2-3 days in advanced. But if you cram the materials the night before, you should be fine.
If you're not good with history and especially if you're not good with analyzing Economics, this class will be extremely difficult no matter how much you study. Some people can get by and do well in this class because they just have that "econ" mentality, but I don't and I had to work my butt off for his exams. However, Dr. Rudbeck is an amazin guy
Make sure y'all attend class because that is where all the notes are. It is a pretty interesting courses, and I learned a lot from it. Will it be easy? No, that should be expected for all Terry courses unless you transferred from GSU/UNG. Once again, only transfer students will write bad reports on RMP since they got a not so desirable grade. LOL
Rudbeck is hilarious. Good lectures. He curves the tests heavily but it shouldn't be hard to get an A if you go to class regularly.
Rudbeck is an awesome professor! His lectures are interesting and he keeps the class engaged. This class is not easy and you must go to class in order to obtain the notes (he doesn't post them online). He heavily curves all of the tests and the final is optional. He wrote the textbook- so it is easy to understand and relevant to the material.
Rudbeck is amazing! I am not a fan of Econ but he makes it easy to understand. If you read the textbook, front to back, and watch all the lectures videos or go to class if not online you will do fine! Each test is curved 5-12 points so if you stay about an 80, you will be fine! Also no plus/minus.
Great professor, hard class. If you go to all his lectures and actually pay attention through the whole thing and study a few hours for the tests, you should be fine
I personally enjoyed this class and found the material interesting, but Rudbeck does not do a great job of explaining concepts and his notes are often hard to follow. Tests are HARD, but he normally gives a curve of around 10 points. You must attend every class and read the textbook.
He is an amazing teacher and works the problems on your tests in class during lecture. Curves tests so class average is 80 and doesn't do the whole +/- with your grade. Final is optional if you like the grade you have. He is hilarious and very enthusiastic and passionate about the class. Best teacher I've ever had and I'd definitely take him again
If you're not good with history and especially if you're not good with analyzing Economics, this class will be extremely difficult no matter how much you study. I studied my butt off for his exams and still came up short.
Really funny guy, and gives super interesting lectures. He has videos of him explaining past test questions on his blog, which makes studying for the tests super easy. Not a hard class if you attend, take notes, and study a few days before exams. HW is online and graded on participation. Does not use the plus/minus system.
He's very funny and engaging, great teacher but you need to spend time outside of class (office hours!) to pass. also he doesn't do +/-
Rudbeck is the best economics professor to take in UGA . He usually gives a 10 points curve so that the average is around 80. So for my case I end up with A. There is no extra credit. You get to skip the final like I did. His lectures are funny but a bit easier than tests. Go beyond the tests he posted online and go to koofers for more practice
Rudbeck and his ECON 2200 (History of Economic Development) class was the best class I've taken at UGA. He is hilarious and teaches in a way that makes it impossible not to learn and enjoy. It is a tough class and you will have to study before the tests, but you will walk out of class each day having learned something you didn't know before.
-Prof Rudbeck was amazing. He curves all test to an 80 average so the curves are usually around 8-12 points. Test are hard consisting of 25% vocabulary and 75% concepts. However if you show up to class and read the textbook you should be fine as he tells you what will be tested. He also lets class out early by around 5 minutes every class period.
The best prof i've ever had here. Writes notes along with you on the overhead in class. Super hilarious guy who curses frequently. Doesnt use the +/- grading scale. Lets you exempt the final if you take the other 3 tests in the class. If you go to class he sometimes tells you a question that will be on the test. Curves the tests. Interesting class!
he was super friendly, but I don't think it made the class interesting. It's the economic development of the united states, and that name in itself is boring. You have to go to class to understand the concepts, and then when the test comes you realize you didn't really know the concept. He curves a lot, thank god, but this class is very hard
Attendance is optional but you have to go to class for the notes. This class is hard, but he curves each test at least 8 points. I was able to skip the final and made a B, as he doesn't do +/-. I thought I understood stuff but would show up for the test and made C's, but the curve helps. The man loves his graphs, but they're hard to understand.
Over-prepare for the test and you still will not be prepared enough.
This guy is hilarious but too bad the class itself is so hard no matter how funny he is you still suffer. Always ends up curving the tests-but sometimes its just not enough.
Easily one of the top 3 professors I've had. Tests are difficult but his curve is extremely fair. Easy B, however, if you want an A you'll have to read a good bit.
Rudbeck is the best professor I have had at UGA. I've taken two of his classes because his lectures are interesting and he is hilarious. His tests are difficult but graded fairly. There is no +/- so it's easier to get an A in the class. All the material on the test is gone over in class. Lectures are optional, but you need to go to class to pass.
Rudbeck is the man. This class is extremely easy if you attend often, however, you can still do well if you just get the notes and read the book. He spoon feeds you about 25% of the test if you pay attention in class. He also does not do plus or minus which is nice, and he always curves the class grade to an 80. Easy A in my opinion.
Rudbeck is the bomb!! This was my 3rd Econ class and the first one that I actually enjoyed and understood. It is by no means an "Easy A", but if you put in the work, go to lecture, and read the textbook you will be set. Lectures are interesting and typically don't last the entire class period and tests are all curved to a B average.
I thought this was a really tough class, but it is curbed by the fact that he always curves the test averages to an 80, which usually means 10-12 points. He is a really funny guy, but also is sincere in answering questions, and he definitely cares about students and the content. It's a challenge, but definitely worth it.
I really appreciated Rudbeck- he's hilarious, and he gives you answers to his tests on random days! Basically everything on his three tests come from in-class lectures, so don't skip or you won't know the concepts. Each test had about 31 questions, 5 were pure reading, rest conceptual. Easy homework online, no +/- grade scale, final not required
He's a great guy and explain everything so that you think that you understand it. His tests are very hard and if I only had about 15 minutes longer to take the test, I would do much better. Time crunch and economics don't go together. You need to think and draw graphs to solve his problems, but you don't really have enough time and panic sets in
Very hard class but tries to make it enjoyable and is very funny. You've got to work to get an A and you have to show up to class even if he doesn't take attendance - his notes are super useful and many test questions come from lectures. Make sure to utilize his answer videos on cengage - very helpful. Solid choice, can't go wrong with him!
Funny guy, tests are hard because you cover so much material in class that all blends together and it gets confusing.
Rudbeck knows what he's talking about. He wants to make Econ as easy as possible and wants his students to do well. I would recommend him over most Econ professors at UGA
graded by 3 tests and an optional final which are all pretty hard... he gives a lot of freeby test questions out in class so benefits of going.. several test questions are straight reading... there is hw but it takes 5 mins and is helpful review material for tests.. also no +- system so 90+ is A and 80-89 is B
His lectures are full of examples and written things he discusses. For me, personally, Im not one to understand a bunch of examples. I had to watch youtube videos to explain each chapter. Tests are worded really weird, so they are pretty difficult. 3 Tests, homework is easy (online), doesnt do +/- grading scheme.
Rudbeck's lectures are so interesting and informative. Everything taught in class appears on the exam, so no tricks. Compared to ACCT, this class is a breeze. But do put in some time and effort to review class notes and problems from practice exams he gives out. As long as you know the graphs and concepts emphasized, you're definitely set to pass.
Rudbeck is one of the best professors I have had so far in college. He handwrites the notes, so you don't have to worry about him covering the material too quickly. He explains the concepts clearly, and he has a great sense of humor.
Dr. Rudbeck is probably the best professor I have had here at UGA. Awesome and funny guy. He makes the class seem super simple but you have to really know the material for the exams. His tests can be tricky but if you put in the time and use his exam prep tips then they aren't bad at all.
Rudbeck was super cool and had entertaining lectures. He knows that Econ can be boring but he tries to make jokes and it makes it a little easier. Curves all of the tests and final is optional if you like your grade. no +/- system which is nice if you get a 90 but sucks if you get an 89.
This class was a great opportunity to study economics with a historical perspective. The lectures are pretty entertaining for the topic. Professor does what he can to liven up the material but he intends for his students to come out of that class with deeper knowledge of Economics. This is not an easy A unless you are really good at Econ to start.
Rudbeck is such a good teacher, if you go to class you won't have a problem making an A with studying. Doesn't post notes online, so attendance is basically mandatory. He doesn't try to trick you on tests. Study a few days in advance and you should be ok. Read the textbook for the history questions. Doesn't use +/- system and the final is optional.
Rudbeck is entertaining but makes the material harder than it has to be. Even though this is an intro course, he treats it as though you have previous experience with economics. In addition, his tests are nearly impossible; the questions are intentionally confusing. Dont expect an A unless youre naturally good at econ.
This is my first time reviewing a professor- and i am doing so because he is AMAZING! I ended up with a B, but that was expected because econ is a difficult topic for me. He is SO nice and So funny! I went to class just to hear him make funny jokes. I hope he sees this so that he knows how amazing of a prof he is! 100% would take again.
He's super funny and chill. Attendance isn't mandatory, so it's easy to get in a habit of skipping, but it will hurt you on tests. He doesn't try to make it unnecessarily hard, but if you find econ difficult, it will still be difficult. Only grades that matter are the tests. Essentially no homework.
Man I love this guy, read his comment above, it's dead-on accurate. I got a fat C because I was just as laid back as he was. Big mistake. You gotta study your bum off all semester and keep up with what the heck he's talking about. Hilarious and a joy to visit everyday though.
Lectures aren't mandatory. Other than that your grade is basically 3 tests, the final, and chapter quizzes. It is entirely possible to not go to class and get a good grade but Rudbeck is one of the most fun and interesting professors I've ever had and genuine a good time during class. Tests are hard if you don't take the time to truly understand.
Rudbeck makes ECON so much more bearable. He is one funny dude and he is so laid back. Grade is made up of 3 tests and your highest homework grade. Although he is laid back, you still have to put in work to get a good grade. Some of the concepts don't come easy!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but I'd recommend going bc he keeps you engaged & he'll throw hints on what will be a test question. Homework has unlimited attempts, so it's an easy 100. The final is optional if you're happy with your grade. He posts videos for explanations of the homework & practice tests, but tests can be hard if you don't study/read
Rudbeck is the most entertaining professor I've taken. The material may be somewhat challenging to grasp (as Macroeconomics tends to be), but with the plethora of extra resources (Rudbeck's videos, old tests, etc.), along with his overly generous grading criteria (large curves, HW, no +/-), his class is more than manageable. Enjoy the lectures
Awesome professor overall but tests are hard. Study or the class can be pretty hard...
the best choice for macro econ at UGA!! really knows his stuff and i'd take him again in a heart beat. still super hard
Finished with a 97, made A's on all 3 tests-- he curves exams to make the class average an 80. No plus/minus grading. He doesn't take attendance but lecture is VITAL to acing the class as he only tests on what he covers in class (he often draws questions directly from in class examples or will give hints for the test). GO TO CLASS, TAKE NOTES!!
Econ is my least favorite subject, but Jason made it durable to actually learn the material. He makes it easy to understand the subject. The book is expensive but you have to have it for quizzes and the textbook. READ THE TEXTBOOK. Study two weeks in advance and you'll get an A. He curves every test, and the homeworks are easy to get 100's on.
Does not use A minus system! Not a hard class by any means. Attendance is not at all necessary if you are someone like me who prefers learning out of the book. Tests are hard but fair and he provides a lot of help on his website with all topics that will be on the test. Best option for macro at UGA.
I loved Prof Rudbeck. He is funny and he applies what he teaches to the modern world. Didn't make below an A just because of his detailed lectures. He also gives you some freebies on tests during class, so don't miss it!!
Rudbeck structures his class with the student in mind and nothing will be of surprise to the student. He arranges material in a way that is applicable to the real world and is very straightforward. His tests can be challenging and require a lot of preparation, but everything needed to succeed in his class is made readily available to the students.
He is one of the FUNNIEST professors I have ever had. He incorporates so many jokes in his lectures, he always has the class laughing. The class itself is not very difficult, and there really is not that much work. His tests can be tricky though.
take rudbeck. best econ professor at UGA.
This class seems like it should be easy, but it is very hard. You have to put in a ton of work to do well. Rudbeck is hilarious and makes class fun, but this is the hardest econ class I have ever taken. There are three tests, and they are all pretty difficult. You have to put in a TON of work and studying to do fine in the class.
Prof Rudbeck made lectures interesting and made sure that he provided good examples for every topic that he taught us. Even though econ is not one of my favorite subjects, I found myself enjoying the class. He was very fair in his grading and I did quite well in his class. Highly recommend.
Rudbeck is hilarious. He is laid back, but his tests are VERY hard. You definitely assume you dont have to study too much and that the tests wont be bad, based off of his chill personality, but DONT let that fool you. Overall, the class is okay and the tests are difficult- which sucks since they make up the majority of your grade.
He is a very laid back professor and makes lectures funny and enjoyable. You definitely have to study hard for his tests, but overall his grading is very fair.
10% of your grade is based on homework that you can do in your sleep. The other 90% comes from the VERY difficult tests he gives. Your own interpretation of each concept won't get you too far--you will need to learn how to view history from the perspective of Rudbeck. Super challenging class taught by a sassy, hilarious teacher. Take it in stride.
This man is angel among a horrible Econ department. Show up to class and take detailed notes. The tests are an easy A so far since they're open book.
I love Professor Rudbeck, but Macroeconomics isn't the easiest. He has amazing lectures, and he's entertaining and engaging. No attendance required, but his notes aren't online, so I'd recommend going to class. You need to put a decent amount of work into studying concepts, and the recommended textbook is helpful, but he makes this class easier.
Dr. Rudbeck is extremely caring and really funny. He works very hard to make the class content interesting and interactive even though it can tend to be boring. His exams are very difficult so you need to attend class, but if you do, he will share with you key information on the tests and even some of the questions. Definitely take his class!
Rudbeck and this class are awesome! He demands a lot from his students but does his best to be reasonable with the workload. HW is all due at the end of the semester and can be redone until you get 100. Tests are curved to an 80. Notes aren't posted so going to class is important but not mandatory. Rudbeck is so funny and rooting for you to succeed
Dr. Rudbeck is awesome! He's very funny and makes his class interesting. The classes are all lecture - he draws his notes out on a doc cam and you copy them down. As long as you take notes and review them a little before the test, you'll get an A.
Great teacher! Very funy and nice. The material can be a lot, but its not overwhelming. You take the tests on your phone and can use google/textbook/notes. Very little work outside of class. Doesn't use plus/minus system. Go to every class and study for 2-3 hours for each test and you'll do fine. This class doesn't require much effort!
Funny guy who is always smiling and makes learning economics fun
This man. Is incredible. He teaches economics in a way that is so easy to understand and learn. His tests this year were open note! They test your knowledge and understanding of the subject without making you memorize everything. He is so understanding of what college kids do and don't want to do and structures his course accordingly. 10/10
Great class. Tests are somewhat challenging, even being open note. Dr. Rudbeck is very knowledgeable on this subject and makes it easy and enjoyable to learn the material.
Textbook is available, but isnt necessary if you pay attention in class and take good notes. Rudbeck is a funny and good lecturer, and curves tests. Final can be dropped. Posts answers to old tests/homeworks and doesnt take attendance. Great class overall and easy A if you study, but you can use your phone on tests.
Professor Rudbeck was a great teacher and made econ more enjoyable for me. His class consists of lectures every day, and although class isn't mandatory, I would recommend going and taking constant notes. There are 3 tests and if you do well on them and like your grade in the class, you don't have to take the final.
Dr. Rudbeck is a great person since he is funny and tries to make the class enjoyable, but his exams are a bit on the difficult side. If you don't attend class, you'll miss out on notes since he literally writes the notes with us. Even though the exams are online (in class) and allowed to use notes, you'll still struggle for some of it.
Rudbeck is the best econ teacher!! He gives super clear lectures to where you only use the textbook if you really need it. The practice quizzes and tests give you all the practice you need for the tests. Tests are straightforward if you know the content. I wouldnt say this class is easy, but if you understand the topics, youll get an A.
Unfortunately I rarely attended his lecture. However, I still managed to finesse a B. Doesn't do +/- grading which is a blessing or a curse depending. Anyways, fantastic professor with great lectures. Exams are very tough even though they are open note. His practice tests make studying a breeze. Buy the book if you dont go to class! No online notes
Dr. Rudbeck is NOT one of those professors out to get you! With detailed email reminders, test curves, early class dismissals, and "gimme" test questions when you go to class, he's an all-around great guy. AND TAKE THE FINAL IF YOU'RE ON THE EDGE. Since there's no +/- grading, I went from a B to an A just from attempting it.
Funny guy and knows how to relate to college students. Explains the material well. 3 tests, all on elc and OPEN NOTE. Final is optional but on scantron. Homework assignments that you should make a 100 on all of them. Always willing to answer questions. Gives a good amount of freebies on tests during lecture. He does not do plus minus grading.
This man is a LEGEND. He makes coming to class so much more enjoyable and has such a dad sense of humor. Great professor, really cares about his students and all he wants is for us to succeed. Grading is clear -- 3 tests, optional final, and homework. 10/10 recommend.
I'm not sure about the other reviews saying this is an easy class because it is definitely not. Yes he is a good professor and explains the concepts well, if you don't understand Econ, you will struggle in this class. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to do well, you need to go to class.
Dr. Rudbeck is one of the best professors I've ever had. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do a great job! This class is pretty hard, though, and you do have to put some work in to succeed. Homework is completion, tests are on your phone and you can use anything on your phone to help you. The book WILL help you on tests!
He is a great professor! He is a funny and his lectures are engaging. I highly recommend doing the assigned reading and making a quizlet with the notes from the text since you can use it on tests. Tests are a little difficult, but not impossible if you do the reading and pay attention and take notes in class. I made between 86-90 on each test
I had Dr. Rudbeck for Econ 2105 and Econ 2200, and I thoroughly enjoyed both classes. Attendance is optional, but he gives great lectures and explains everything so you will succeed on his tests. He tries to include jokes to make lectures more and more fun. He really cares about his students. As long as you study your notes, the tests are not bad.
Very easy class if you don't skip. Tests are online and you can use your notes. Almost every problem on the tests is in your notes. Having a basic knowledge of economic models helps, but you really don't even need that. Go to class even though it is not mandatory. Also, Rudbeck is very funny and I actually enjoyed his lectures.
If you don't understand basic Econ, you might struggle a little bit. I got a 77, 76, and 90 on my tests and ended up with a B (he doesn't do plus or minus grading) which I'm happy with. Highly recommend going to class to get the notes and all of his tests are open note so as long as you organize your notes well before the test, you'll do fine.
Great Econ elective to take. The class was a mix of Economics, Finance, and Statistics with an emphasis on real-world applications. He doesn't take attendance but doesn't post his notes online either. Tests are also on ELC and OPEN NOTE. His lectures are also hilarious. 10/10 class
He does not use the plus/minus system which helped me out a lot. Tests are open notes. If you go to class and do the homework sets and practice tests before his test you should be fine. I would also recommend watching his answer videos to homework and practice tests because his test questions are very similar to those.
Come to class! Econ Org & Mgmt was more challenging than I expected, so the only way to do well is come to class and take notes. Everything he reviews during class time is testable and he doesn't post any material to ELC.
Finished up the class with a 95, with exemption of the final. He curves class averages to an 80, which I found to be much better than extra credit since the three tests are worth most of the grade. Homework is super easy, and exams are open note. He is a really funny guy, and let's class out early 50% of the time. The test themselves can be tricky.
I loved the professor, hated how he set up the class. It was annoying how the tests were extremely hard for no reason. I studied my butt off and barely managed to get by. If you need to take this class, take it but be warned, the test questions were made to confuse you.
Professor Rudbeck makes Economics exciting to Econ majors and accessible to non-Econ majors. His tests are a solid 7/10 difficult given you just read over the textbook and go to class most days, and he's entertaining enough where class isn't a bore.
Rudbeck is such a cool guy but this class was so hard for me. I genuinely wasn't sure how to succeed. The tests are all on your phone in class and you are allowed to look at pictures of your notes during the test, but I don't even remember learning or reading about a lot of the test questions. At least he doesn't do plus/minus grading.
Open notes, open internet, open anything tests. All tests are taken on a tablet or smartphone (something without a keyboard). Curves class average to an 80 for each test and does not cut off grades at 100. He makes jokes the whole time and is very intelligent. Optional final. 90-100 is an A and so forth
I did not appreciate professor Rudbeck. Very basic and a boring course. It's required for Terry, but I would chose the other option instead. Goes off on unrelated tangents and never gets back to the point so you're left wondering. Don't recommend.
Terrible class to take online, I'm a straight A student that has to withdraw because of the difficulty of this class. Uploads his lectures for the semester and the rest is on you, so you may as well be your own teacher. Tests are way too hard, 40 minutes to take a 25 question test which is nowhere near enough time. Even if you study, you still fail
If I were Rudbeck, I would be embarrassed to put my name on what he put together and called a course. It's obvious that he spent one or two afternoons drawing graphs on pieces of printer paper and scheduling emails and never thought about it again. Even though he put no effort into instruction, the tests are among the hardest I've taken at UGA
Interesting class that blends econ with history. Requires watching lecture videos and reading. He has answer videos of all the homework. Always curves the class average to an 80, and I am making an A so far with moderate effort. Answers many questions in the discussion forum, many of which help on tests.
Do not take this course online. It is very difficult to cover all of the content with the lectures he has given. You have to teach yourself a lot of the material and try to stay motivated because his lectures are very monotone. Even if you study, the tests are only 40 minutes so there is barely enough time to complete all the questions.
Do NOT take this class online! I have heard that students enjoyed this class in person, but Rudbeck put little to no effort into converting this into an online course. The lectures do not cover the test material, nor does the textbook hardly. You are your own teacher if you take this class online and good luck because the test are impossible.
I am not the type of student to get bad grades. I have been a straight A student all my life and now this class has ruined everything. I got a D in this class, even though Ive studied for hours on end for all of the tests. You think you got a 100 on the test then it comes back as a D. Terrible that the class is fully online, so hard to learn stuff
Tests are heavily weighted. Even if you study, tests are very difficult. The questions are quite tricky and the homework doesn't help. Although tests are open book, he only gives you 40 minutes to complete 25 questions. This class shouldn't be as hard as it is.
Great class with really interesting lectures and tests weren't too difficult as long as you read the book and took notes on his lectures. Definitely one of the better professors during Terry and genuinely cares about his students.
Best professor! I had him online and you have to watch the videos and take very specific notes to do well or you will fail. He wants all of his students to do well & happy to help at all times. There are 3 tests in the course and they are very hard and tests are open textbooks and notes. He curves test grades to have an average of a B. HW is easy
Rudbeck himself is a great guy: knows the facts, wishes you well. But he makes you work with little resource. I can tell he would be outstanding in person where you can really ask questions and interpret in real time, but unfortunately he kind of flopped online... you have countless videos of graphs... textbook too. other than that good luck.
I took this class online during covid. Very little instruction. Pre recorded videos and the book. Not ideal, but manageable. Curves the tests and no plus minus.
Rudbeck is fun and entertaining. He never wants students to be stressed or do too much and always explains things clearly. His tests are sneaky hard but if you pay attention to class and watch his homework solution videos, he gives a lot of subtle hints of what might be on the test so pay attention! Its a reward for being engaged!
Took this class with him during COVID. The entire grade of the class was basically three tests, but they are open book/open note. He has about 4-5 hours of lecture videos for each test which you can breeze through on 2x speed. Overall I did very little work and got an A. Highly recommend in place of ECON 2100
Such a great professor - have taken several econ courses before and Rudbeck is the first professor I've had that really EXPLAINS what he's talking about and tries to help the students fully understand. Tests were based only on lectures (no textbook thank you), questions were fair, grades and emails returned super quickly. Highly recommend.
The day before school started we were told we would be online for the class. Lectures were not done through zoom, he posted videos of himself explaining random topics on paper. His tests were extremely hard and nothing like the homework. If you don't read the textbook close you will fail and if you do not rush through the test you won't finish.
online class due to COVID. video lectures are helpful, just rewatch at 2x speed and take notes while you do so every night. I studied for about an hour a night and got an A. Homework is 10% of grade but he gives you answers and you have unlimited attempts. Tests can be tricky but not too hard, open note but not open partner. Very insightful class.
This class is tough but manageable. He curves exam grades so that the class as a whole has an avg of 80. The exams are a random combination of reading material and lecture material. As long as you pay attention to his lectures and take good notes (like copy everything he does & says), you will pass with a good grade.
an absolute legend.
Jason makes his test really difficult and tricky. He does not explain things very clearly and expects you to just absorb and memorize every single thing he says.
I LOVE DR. RUDBECK! He posts his lectures on eLC so you can watch the lectures again after class! He posts practice exams and exams are open book and open note, which is VERY HELPFUL! If you copy the notes, and understand the homework and practice exam, you will do great! He also doesn't do +/- which is a blessing! Would take him again 10000%!!!
Hes a hilarious professor, super easygoing, and very knowledgeable. His tests are weighted pretty heavily, but overall, the class is a great option to get the requirement out of the way.
He is an awesome teacher with good techniques but his tests are very hard so beware. Also since homework is only worth 10% and the rest is up to the hard tests it was definitely a challenging course.
Professor Rudbeck is amazing! He is hilarious and makes all of the lectures worth it. There are three tests (all curved) and about five questions of homework on each chapter. If you show up to class, take good notes, and study for the tests you'll be fine. He does not do plus/minus grading.
Jason is a great professor and really cares about his students. But this class is not an easy A. Definitely read the textbook, watch homework videos, and really understand the concepts he teaches in class. His class is very test heavy so you don't really have room for mistakes
Jason is probably the nicest professor I've ever had. He gives very little homework, but the tests make up for it. They're not easy, but they're not impossible. You have to pay attention and have good notes to make a good grade. I was one test question away from making a B. Overall solid professor.
He was fun to listen to during lectures, and was great at explaining the material. The hard thing about it is he writes his own test questions so the best way to study is review the homework questions and his old tests he posts. Tests were open note.
Great teacher and gets along with every student. Extremely easy and easy to learn at the pace he goes. An A in his class is 90-100 so you have a lot more wiggle room than other ECON teachers. Definitely Recommended.
I'll be the first to admit I struggle with econ, but Jason was the first professor who really helped me get it. He takes the time to explain concepts in detail, and is always available for questions. He always is understanding that not everyone is good at/likes econ, but still strives to make sure every student does the best they can.
The material is hard. This teacher is incredible and gives a decent amount of understanding in different assignments and things. He makes jokes which is nice. Use it to connect the reality to the ideas that he is covering. When you learn money supply/demand, ACTUALLY learn it! It shows up a lot, so retain it the 1st time. Good teacher :)
Professor Rudbeck is hilarious and laid back. Tests are completely based on what he writes down in lecture. Tests are open note. Super easy class and Professor Rudbeck makes it fun. Funniest professor I've had yet.
Amazing professor. Showed up to class everytime very enthusiastic. Material is hard, but he makes it easy to understand. Pay attention during lectures!!! Most everything he says is important.
Best professor I've ever had. Econ is hard but he explains it very logically. Write down EVERYTHING that he does and ur own personal notes. Especially graphs. I also never opened the textbook once and he uses nothing from it so don't bother. He is very kind and if you need anything at all he is there to help. A is from 90-100, so awesome!
An absolute legend
Dr. Rudbeck is a great professor who explains such broad and complicated topics in an easy manner. Just keep up with this class and study well for the tests as they make up your entire grade. Otherwise, would happily take it again!
Rudbeck is one of the best professors at UGA. He is good at explaining things, and I was always engaged in class.
Dr. Rudbeck is one of the best professors I've had at UGA. he is hilarious and the content is so uninteresting but he makes it interesting with his examples and funny comments. The concepts can be hard at times but he makes them so much easier to digest with the way he explains things. He represents what's great about the college.
This class is by no means an easy A, but if you come to class, take notes, and review once or twice a week, you should be fine. Rudbeck himself is awesome, he's hilarious, open to talking to students for however long they want after class, and extremely engaging and patient. Definitely, my favorite professor, I've had so far.
Rudbeck has been one of the best professors I've had. This is not an easy subject but he explains it very logically and his lectures are easy to follow along. He loves to make jokes and keeps class entertaining. He doesn't drop any tests, but as long as you watch his lectures or go to class. The tests are pretty easy and the final is optional.
I've had Professor Rudbeck twice so far at UGA and he has been an incredible professor. His material is super easy to understand, and you have ample supplemental material like the practices and textbook. Very easy class, just study for the tests and you're bound to get an A
No plus/minus system for overall grades. Curves exams to class average of 80 I believe. More generous with curving the final which is optional if you are satisfied with your grade. He records every in person lecture and posts them on ELC which is useful. Its important to pay close attention on how he explains economic curves and how theyre affected
As a person, Rudbeck is very funny and caring. The way he teaches isnt my favorite style but he recorded and posted his lectures so you didnt even really need to go to class. After the first exam, the class seemed easier and I ended with an A. Good choice
Rudbeck makes his lectures engaging!! Come to class, do the homework and you'll be fine. No plus/minus so that can be really good for you or really bad. Super chill, exams all online.
He's super funny, my favorite professor this year. The content is a bit challenging, but he was great at making sure you understand it. Tests are open note, and based almost entirely on lectures. He goes through content quickly, but he posts recordings of the lectures so you can watch them after class. Take good notes and you'll be fine.
Rudbeck is a GREAT professor! His lecture style is very solid as he doesn't use PowerPoint and writes out all the relevant information and graphs with the projector! His exams are open note and curves the class average to an 80. He also doesn't do +/- grades. Willing to bump you up though. Highly recommend if you can take him!
I don't love Rudbeck's style of lecturing; he writes down the notes as he talks, so you have no content-heavy material to go back over if you miss class or are confused. I find he doesn't teach topics as in-depth as I'd like and the tests are worded kind of vaguely, which can make them challenging. It's not really a hard class, but not easy either.
Rudbeck might be the best professor ever. I had to try very hard to stop from breaking out laughing in class. He has a way of explaining complicated topics in an interesting and simple. If you like econ, take this class, study for the tests, and you will be just fine.
Rudbeck is one of my favorite teachers. His lectures are super engaging and he always jokes around so the material doesn't seem so overwhelming. I went to his office hours and he was always willing to help me out, and it seems like he really does care about his students. Going to class is the best thing you can do for yourself tbh
Rudbeck is really funny which can make class interesting. Do not wait til the last minute for tests because it is a lot of info. Study gradually and you'll be fine. Lectures are very traditional where he writes exactly what he wants you to write. Tests are not too bad, but can trip you up at times. Super nice guy!
Dr. Rudbeck is a great person, and he had a good lecture style. However, it was hard to grasp the topics since he talked while he wrote things down, so it was easy to get lost. I thought I would like the grading scale, but it's actually not that helpful when it comes to GPA. This class was definitely not easy,
Overall very good professor and explains concepts well. Class has three tests, a final and homework (but you automatically get a 100% on the homework). Very doable if you study gradually before the test and take the practice tests he gives. I would recommend reading the textbook (which is on z lib) for extra studying but it's not super necessary.
Great professor, tests aren't bad would've done better grade wise had I not had accounting 2101. 3 tests plus final but can be exempted. homework is participation grade and is 10% of grade. I would take him for Econ. His lectures are non mandatory but they are great and easy to understand and follow. He makes Econ easy to understand.
Rudbeck is hilarious and explains the concepts in super easy to understand ways to help you connect economic patterns. The class is only 3 MC exams (that are easy if you do the practice exam & video) and an optional final, and 10% SUPER easy HW. no powerpoint notes, so go to class & take notes. love rudbeck, was even sad when each class ended
Rudbeck seems like a good person and he is pretty funny. However his lectures are ineffective, all just copying down his notes. Tests were relatively hard and required a lot of studying.
SO HARD! The tests are so specific and he writes all of his questions, but never explains that specific situation in class. It is just supposed to be learned from the background, which if you arent an Econ major you won't understand. Luckily he doesn't do +/- but I wouldn't recommend him unless u can go to EVERY class and put in HOURS each test
Rudbeck is one the best teachers UGA has to offer. He keeps his lectures entertaining and funny without fail. His tests were also all online which made them easier as we could look at notes. He also posted lots of study practice and homework hints
This professor's lectures were mainly him drawing graphs and writing key bullets, which was challenging as it is not fit for everyone's learning style. However, he made jokes during class and was very knowledgeable about the topics. The class is test-heavy but tests were open note. The grading scale was also lenient, not using + or -. Overall good!
Dr. Rudbeck was alright, but this was not my favorite class. The tests are very specific and count for so much of your grade. He doesn't do plus minus which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. He curves the class average to an 80 on every test which really saved my grade. Thankfully the final was optional or I'd risk a C.
Overrated. Class is boring and slow unless you like history. Cracks many jokes (if that's important to you). Tests require you to understand the material because he gives new situations you didn't cover in class. Test avg. rounded to 80. B is easy, A is hard. No +/- grading but 89.5 rounded to A. Tests are 30 questions ONLY; can't miss much for A.
Dr. Rubeck's class was pretty straightforward - make sure to go to class because he doesn't post the notes. There are three tests, hw, and an optional final, and 90 counts as an A. Definitely not an easy class, but manageable if you put in the work
Rudbeck is the best. You NEED to study for this class though. It was my most difficult class simply because the content is hard to understand. But he posts explanation videos for homework and practice tests that makes things easier. He is a great guy and accessible outside of class. You will need to work hard but it's a very rewarding class.
Despite the good reviews for Rudbeck, after taking his class this semester the way he teaches and the way his class is set up is terrible. The tests are worth 90% of your grade, and the material given in the homework and practice tests are nothing like the actual test. Nice guy, but worst class I had this semester.
Great guy. He is funny in class and keeps lectures short.
He is a great professor and he is funny too. I did no reading in this class, and went to every lectures and felt prepared for the tests. You grade depends only on the tests, but if you spend time studying you will have no problem making an A
loved him. an A is a 90 and above. as long as u go to class and take notes you should be fine. he gives past tests to study which are very similar to the real test.
Mr. Rudbeck is a very easy-going teacher. The course may be challenging but he makes it easier on you because he is very respectful and responsive when you need help with anything. Homework is an easy 100 and he often gives a curve to your test score. Overall, he is a great teacher and I would take his class again.
No +/- grading. He does not use powerpoints, just draws on a paper and shows that on the screen. The textbook is the only reasin why I learned in this class. He makes a lot of political jokes, a few against vaccines and the pandemic being real. The tests were very hard compared to other ECON classes.
A gentleman and a scholar.
Professor Rudbeck is a fantastic professor and worth your time. I got a poor grade in this class because I struggle with Economics in general, but Professor Rudbeck is very helpful and has very informative, yet fast-paced, lectures. He is like UGA's Cosmo Kramer, every class is a hoot. Make sure to go to office hours, he wants everyone to succeed.
Very likeable and funny guy, his lectures are different in that he writes it all out instead of PowerPoints so going to class is more important. Easygoing and tests aren't too bad.
This man is a legend. Genuinely cares about his students and curves to an 80 for all tests. His tests are open note and almost everything comes from his lectures. All I had to do was apply my notes directly to the tests and did pretty well. He also cancelled class for Thanksgiving just because other professors were doing it.
Rudbeck is so funny and his class is super easy. Just attend the lectures and take detailed notes. The exams are open note and text. He rounds the avg. up to an 80 and doesn't use +/-. Homeworks are easy, he posts the answers and videos. I usually struggle with econ, but Rudbeck explains concepts really well and the questions came from lectures.
Rudbeck is a great professor! He's super funny, laid back, and has a great teaching style. He doesn't use PowerPoints; all of his notes are handwritten during class. His tests are a bit hard, based on what he teaches in class as well as a few questions from the textbook. But, overall, he's great and I definitely recommend him!
Rudbeck is such a wonderful person and is also very knowledgeable in economics. He has a clear line of criteria, and does not use the plus/minus system (A = 90 and above). He has the funniest lectures and a great personality, that it makes you want to come to class. Study for exams and read the textbook because it is a large portion of the grade.
honestly, rudbeck is the man. he makes his lectures very interesting (as interesting as economic development of the united states can be lmao) and does his grading scale as A: 90-100 B: 80-89 and so on, offers lots of extra credit opportunities and homework just requires you to get one question right to get a 100%.
Rudbeck made me laugh so hard and he really does try his best to make the econ lectures as interesting as possible. His grading scale is amazing and he truly wants his students to succeed in his class. I had a B in the class and took the optional final which pushed me to an A. Make sure to take advantage of the extra credit he provides!
Professor Rudbeck is one of the best people ever! His class is only taught through lectures but he does his best to make them interesting and is a super funny guy. The tests can be pretty difficult but they're open notes so if you go to class and take good notes, it shouldn't be too hard. He also curves the tests which helps!
Rudbeck is funny during class keeping students engaged. Does not do +/- just flat grade. Curves every test average up to class avg of 80%. The tests were actually really hard. The practice tests and hw were easy and then I get to the test and I'm like wtf where did this come from even though I didn't skip class
Dr. Rudbeck is an absolute gem in Terry. No +/-, open-note tests, and super easy-going class. Homework grade is just completion. You don't NEED to go to class but I would never regret going. Lectures are funny and engaging, and makes you feel like you're actually learning something. Take good notes and you'll get an easy A. GOAT
Rudbeck is hilarious and makes economics a fun class to go to. I feel like in general the class was pretty interesting but the exams were unnecessarily difficult. The exams were all online and you have a study guide but he changes up the test questions and they can be tricky. There is homework but as long as you attempt them you get full credit.
Love this guy, I wish I could take more classes with him. This is a super easy but interesting course and he's a very good teacher and explains things very clearly. for econ4000 there were only 2 tests and hw (and the optional final) and the tests are weighted heavily but he curves and if you pay attention in class, you'll rock them regardless.
Professor Rudbeck is an absolute legend. He is easily my favorite professor I have ever had at UGA and is so funny and engaging. His class is also super easy as long as you attend lectures and take notes. The exams are literally just the notes but with multiple-choice options. He also curves every exam to a class average of 80. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!!
I've had Professor Rudbeck twice as a professor, and he's overall great. His lectures are never boring, and he makes economics seem so fun! He doesn't do - or + for grades. He curves tests, and they're pretty straightforward; everything is covered in class and in textbook. The homework and textbook are very manageable as well, easy to go through!
Professor Rudbeck is absolutely hilarious he made going to his class fun. The class is set up by 3 tests and a optional final. The test are kinda hard but the class isn't mandatory but overall a really amazing professor! Make sure to take good notes because he doesn't do slides he also writes all of his notes.
Dr. Rudbeck is such a cool guy, he makes his lectures entertaining cause he cracks some jokes. Tests shouldn't be too bad if you take good notes. You can a 100 on homework for simply attempting it but it helps to see prepare you for the tests. Lectures are not mandatory but sometimes he'll give out test answers during them.
Dr. Rudbeck's lectures are entertaining however they can be boring at times since he has no slides. If you are fine with watching him jot down graphs and tables in the middle of class, this class will be a breeze. Take good notes and enjoy the jokes.
Took this class online over the summer and I'm so glad I did! Do the homework (unlimited attempts), take good notes on the lectures, and space out when you watch the videos so you aren't watching 5 hours of lectures in one day. I personally didn't really read the textbook much, but it def would have helped. Exams are open note, which is AMAZING!
Adorable man. He loves his students, doesn't do +/- and he will bump if you need it. HW is due before the exam but he already gives you the answers lol. The class itself is very chill, but the exams are hard if you don't review your class notes. He writes his own questions and doesn't reuse them. Take good notes and actually try the hw on your own
He is so nice! All test averages are curved to an 80 and he doesn't do +/-. He doesn't take attendance but you should go to class because good notes are very helpful for the tests. Tests are hard but if you have good notes and do the practice tests then you can get an A. I suggest this for an upper level econ elective.
He is a really nice guy, but only uses handwritten notes and a projector in class so it can be difficult to follow. Class is only graded on 3 tests that are oddly specific to the textbook.
Dr. Rudbeck is amazing! Homework was graded on submission (you just had to submit it, even if it was blank), and tests were open note. Sometimes the test questions were a little difficult, but he graded on a very generous curve, so the tests were never stressful. He's funny and actually cares about you. Take his class!
He's really nice but the tests feel so overwhelming for such an unimportant class. Attendance is not mandatory but he does not post lectures. The only grades are three tests with homework and and optional final which counts if you take it even if it tanks your grade. Again, really overwhelming for a class that's a graduation requirement.
Overall Rudbeck was a great professor! He's very fair with his grading, he rounds tests up to an 80 and doesn't use +/-. However, if you don't come to class or catch up with the material on your own the tests will be difficult. It's a very manageable and enjoyable class, in my opinion, I would recommend him. He's also funny and engaging in class.
Every econ major needs to take him at least once. Really chill guy, our only grades in the class were two tests, an optional final and homeworks that were completion grades. He's very good at explaining things and loves to crack jokes during lectures. Overall, super cool guy.
Go to class and take good notes. You can get an A if you do that, but if not it isn't easy. He curves every test a few points and has an optional final.
Never went to class. Creepy old man who smokes outside Terry all the time. Exams are at-home, no proctor. So if you take this class with friends who actually go, you're good. All homework answers can be found online. He makes his own exams though. 3 exams; final can be exempt. Can be an easy class or a hard class, depending on if you have friends
I will start off by saying that I dislike ECON and did skip a lot of his classes. It was hard for me to pay attention in class, even though he is funny. ECON is just boring to me. After being in college for 2 years and taking both ACCT 1 and 2, this was my first college B. I bombed a test and didn't recover. Blame that on myself. he is funny.
3 exams and a final. HW for a completion grade before each exam. Everything you need to know is discussed in lecture. He is hilarious and personable. Would definitely take again!
Great lecturer and a funny guy. Make sure you either go to class or have a friend who will give you notes if you miss, he doesn't post them. Tests are very doable, especially since he gives a freebie question and curves the class average to an 80. I signed up for ECON 4000 because I enjoyed his teaching and the no plus/minus grading so much.
Professor Rudbeck is the man, there is nothing else to really say. This class is based a lot on how well you take notes on his lectures, so as long as you do that you should be fine. Great class overall and definitely highly recommended.
Open note tests, but definitely go to class and take very good notes of every model and basically every thing he says and you will definitely get an A. Does not try to trick you on anything and only grades are a few tests and homeworks which are unlimited attempts.
Rudbeck is hilarious and engaging - attendance wasn't mandatory, but if you show up and take good notes, it's difficult to fail. There's 4 tests, homework (easy A there), and an optional final. Pros: no plus/minus systems, curved tests, let us out early. Cons: humour wasn't for everybody, lectures could be dry, content may be hard to understand.
Dr Rudbeck is hilarious & makes lectures as entertaining as they can be. The material is not the easiest, but attend class, take down everything he writes, & you'll be ok. 3 tests he writes himself (open note on etc), opt final, no +/-, & rounds class exam avg to an 80 which almost always gives you a good amount of pts back. Couldn't recommend more
The only concerning part about this class is he wrote the textbook and makes the test, so google is virtually irrelevant. The tests aren't bad but just be prepared to consume his knowledge and apply it basically. He is super nice and a 90 is an A so
His teaching style is easy to follow, but he writes all of his notes and doesn't post them on ELC, so you have to go to class. Exams are all written by him so don't bother using google, and you'd actually have to understand the material. Doesn't use +/- system, tests are take home, curves test to class average of 80. Not bad, just go to class.
I would not recommend this class. It was extremely difficult. Test questions are confusing. Most definitely NOT an easy A.
Attendence is optional, but he takes paper notes so you need to go to class to get them. If you have the in class notes you can get an A on every test after the curve. Tests are open notes and open internet but answers can't be found on the internet. His lectures are interesting, hes very funny, and will let class out early occasionally.
Do not listen to the reviews do not take this class. I have never gotten lower than an A in a class at UGA until this one. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!
Jason Rudbeck is the best teacher ever!! I am not great at econ, but his class was so easy to understand!! He doesn't grade on a plus/minus system, so a 90 is an A. He curves the test average to an 80, so there is usually a 5 to 10 point curve, sometimes even higher.
Jason Rudbeck is one of the best professors I've ever had. He comes to class super energetic and is super funny. I would take this class over and over again bc of this prof. His test are online open book open note so go to class and take good notes bc the test aren't easy. Take this class he's awesome and the course is relatively easy
This class was so interesting and Dr. Rudbeck is a very good professor! The class is optional but you should go as he does not post notes online, but if you do have to miss class, he will let you take pictures of the notes you missed after class. No plus/minus, so a 90 is an A, but an 89 is also a B.
All tests online no lockdown browser, but they are hard. No answers online, but I'm sure people cheat. If not cheating, have to go to class. Class kinda sucks. He's very funny, but bad teacher imo. Laziest notes ever and confusing. Literally only draws graphs on white paper over and over. Online textbook super helpful for context! Homework free 100
Goat professor, Jason is hilarious and entertaining. He is always cracking jokes. Take good notes and put effort into the homework. If you do that and study enough you will receive A's on the tests. Responsive to questions during lecture. The tests are curved to an 80. Can exempt the Final if you choose. Take him for Econ I highly recommend him!
Awesome guy who's funny, approachable, & kind. However, be prepared to take notes the entire class period if you go to class (which I recommend). Also, tests are open-note but unreasonably hard. I struggled to ever get a B on one + it's hard to gauge what to study. Homework is easy, online, graded by completion, & due before every test.
such an easy summer class to meet the terry econ req. open note tests and if you put any effort in watching the lectures and skimming the book for the history it's a guaranteed A. great lecturer and curves tests to a class average of an 80 so you are almost always going to get a boost. hws are free 100s.
Professor Rudbeck is an engaging and humorous lecturer, but his class requires consistent effort. Tests are challenging, so attending class, taking good notes, and using study aids like unstuckstudy ai are crucial. The workload is manageable, and the grading is fair with a generous curve.
This is a super easy summer class for the Terry econ requirement. All tests are open-note tests, and if you just watch lectures, take decent notes, and read the book for some history questions, it's an easy A. Great teacher curves every test so class average of 80. Shows you how to do every single homework question, so those are an easy 100.
He's so nice, and he definitely knows the topic really well! I took this class thinking that it was going to be an easy A, and it definitely wasn't…I had to take the final to try to boost my grade (which ended up working out). He doesn't do +\- which can be good or bad depending. The tests were VERY difficult…but if you take good notes it's doable.
Rudbeck is a great person, but his lecture style isn't the greatest. The concepts are easy to understand but the way he words the questions on exams will make you second guess yourself. There isn't a textbook that goes with this course, so your only source of information is the lecture or a tutor. Good luck.
Rudbeck is a cool dude and is funny in his lectures, but his tests were a lot harder than originally expected. The class builds off of prior econ knowledge and he writes all of his test questions, and the time limit for the test definitely plays a factor. There's also no plus/minus grading. Good if you do well, not so good if you don't.
3 homeworks, 3 tests, optional final. Tests are kind of confusing. Rudbeck himself is funny, but his class can be boring and I found it hard to pay attention at times.
Attendance isn't mandatory but to do well you HAVE to go because he doesn't post any of his notes. Exams can sometimes be tricky even though they are open book/notes. The course is exam heavy, with small % being homework assignments. Hilarious guy and in general not a bad class if you need an ECON elective.
Professor Rudbeck is engaging and makes lectures enjoyable, but I wouldn't recommend this class unless you're passionate about the subject. It's an elective, not required, and demands significant time to achieve an A. The concepts are also very difficult to grasp, so the effort may not be worth it if you're not deeply interested.
He's a really good professor and he tries to make the class easy but the class is just so BORING. The tests were open note and attendance wasn't mandatory which is why I still liked the class but the content put me to sleep. No + or - grades and an optional final so it's an easy B/A depending on how you do on your first few exams.
Hilarious and laid-back class, you always start on time but usually leave early. He's great at explaining content but his lectures are handwritten and not posted online so make sure you have someone to send you the notes if you miss. Doesn't care about attendance and homework is 100 if you just submit any file, but tests are the only other grades
I have never laughed as hard in a class as I did in Econ2200 with Jason Rudbeck. His tests are open everything but do NOT use ChatGPT as it will not be correct. Attempting the homework will get you a 100. You definitely need to understand the material to do well, but he gives us enough resources to do this (past tests, notes)
Spring '25 class format change: Tests have Respondus LockDown Browser (30 questions, 50 minuets, printed notes), optional final, no attendance, homework graded on completion, doesn't post slides but has videos for homeworks and past exams, read the textbook for history related test questions. Study the videos for a day or two, and you'll get an A.
Super interesting class; Rudbeck is a kind and funny guy who teaches the material pretty well. The only thing is that the tests are 90% of the grade, and there is no +/- system, so an 88 is fully a 3.0. Just keep that in mind, and you'll be ok. Great class to knock out Terry econ requirement
He's very funny. Try to do the reading and pay attention in class and you should be fine. doesn't grade with the minus system (90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, etc.). Cares and you can tell. is always able to answer questions after class. online tests. homework for a completion grade
Don't take him if you don't go to class. The tests are online but way more difficult than they need to be.
Rudbeck is the only professor to genuinely make me laugh during lectures. He talks to you with no filter and makes lectures entertaining and inciteful. Would highly recommend for any econ class. Tests are open note but are difficult if you don't review beforehand. Homework is participation based so you're really only graded on the tests.
Rudbeck is a really funny professor. He typically doesn't have a filter and makes class enjoyable to sit through. It's a little hard to follow what he's talking about sometimes and the tests are pretty difficult. They are online and open note, but honestly doesn't really help. If you need to fill Terry Econ req I would recommend him!
Rudbeck is a good professor, but the other prof is easier now. Rudbeck has lockdown browser, open note tests while the other professor is not lock down. Rudbeck is really funny and kind, but the majority of the grades are from the exams. The final is optional.
Super cool guy, total goofball though. Class is not bad at all and tests are fair. You do need to go to class/get notes bc he writes all his notes live in class. Tests are online but proctored, but you can have written notes with you. Totally would take another of his classes if i could.
do not know how he has such high ratings makes inappropiate political jokes almost everyday. hand writes crappy notes on what he wants you to know, little detail does not post them. exams do not allign with his notes You have to teach youreself from book NOT open to help outside of office hours will not even allow you to email him to ask questions
Great professor! I am not an econ person, but Rudbeck made it fun and understandable. Really funny guy. He doesn't do plus/minus grading (so 90-100 is an A). His tests are open note and you can take them at home, but it's lockdown browser with a camera so don't try to cheat otherwise. Overall amazing professor!!
Definitely an interesting professor! Tests got progressively harder which was unfortunate but his lectures were pretty good.
Professor Rudbeck is very funny and his lectures are always entertaining. There are three homework sets for the whole semester (completion grade) and all of the tests are online lockdown browser open note. The tests are very simple, but make sure to have all of the notes, otherwise it can get tricky.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I am not the only person that thinks the same. He is not understandable if you miss a lecture and need the notes. HE DOES NOT HAVE PPT OR SLIDES. All the exam notes are from the lectures that literally come from his brain. Very messy lectures, never remembers what he already taught. Exams are ridiculously hard even when open note.
Rudbeck doesn't require attendance, but he also doesn't post any slides / notes that were provided during class. He does let you go to his office hours to take pictures of the notes if you missed them, but they are kind of hard to understand because he writes them himself on a sheet of paper. During lecture he explains super fast.
Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to get the notes. The tests are super easy and open note. Easy numbers and plug and chug. Super chill guy and relates the content to things happening in real life.
Great professor. Attendance is not mandatory but notes and examples during class are very helpful for test. Homework is graded on completion and are good to use to study for exams.
I've never liked/been good at economics but Rudbeck made it fun and easy to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go in order to get the content. Tests are online and open note but difficult. Take advantage of the exam review sessions and practice tests. Great professor, take him!
I never went to class and I shouldve. Attendance wasnt mandatory but I would have done alot better in the class if I had gone. He is overall good prof. and is super funny and engaging. Tests are open note but w/ lockdown browser so kinda challenging. Just make sure you go to class and you should do well
Professor Rudbeck is INCREDIBLE!! I suck at ECON, but he's the best professor I've ever had; engaging, hilarious, and accessible for questions in and out of class. His expectations and grading criteria are crystal clear, plus exams are open-note. I don't know how anybody could complain about him, he's fantastic! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Professor Rudbeck is very knowledgeable about economics and makes the course easy to understand. His real world examples and jokes make lectures engaging and easy to follow. Tests are open note and many problems come right from the lectures. If you attend class, pay close attention, and take good notes, you should not need the textbook.
Professor Rudbeck uses a textbook, but you do not need to buy it to do well. He posts printable versions of the homework and tests from a past semester that he videos himself explaining. Homework grade is calculated on completion. The grade is compiled of homework, 3 tests, and a final (you can exempt the final if you are happy with your grade).
Professor Rudbeck made Econ a breeze! Attendance isn't mandatory, but going to the lectures helps. Graded on 3 exams, homework chapters, and an optional final. No plus/minus grading system, and he curves tests. Open note exams w/ lockdown browser + webcam. He provides so many study tools that will help you succeed in the class. 110% recommend!
Dr Rudbeck is an amazing lecturer and really funny. i was thoroughly entertained during them and learned the material. attendance isn't mandatory and the class is graded by 3 online lockdown browser tests and homework. i found the tests to be easy when i study. Would 100% take again
Goofy dude. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but the notes were very similar to exams. You can get the notes during office hours though. A super messy lecturer, but very passionate about economics. I wouldn't exactly recommend him because your grade is completely determined by three exams, but he was fine.
He was a really nice professor, accesible outside of class, and attendance optional, but your grade is dependent upon 10% homework and the rest just tests. The tests are open note (physical) but not open internet, and if you're trying to get macro out of the way just for a prerequisite, I wouldn't recommend.
Professor Rudbeck is entertaining and makes the class interesting. The class is graded 10% HW and 90% tests if you don't plan to take the final. All the tests are open note, but study like they're not because they can be tricky. If you go to class and study before the tests, you should be fine.
Does not teach and tests are hard. Avoid like the plague.
IF YOU WANT AN EASIER A TAKE WARD. Professor Rudbeck is genuinely a super nice guy, but he loves to make his tests tricky. I would suggest this class for econ majors or those passionate on the subject. Attendance is optional but you really need to go to class in order to do well.
If you want an easier class take Ward not Rudbeck. He is a nice teacher and fine lecturer but exams are 90% of your final grade making it so hard to get an A. He also makes the exams way more confusing than the practice
Hes chill if you just show up to class and take good notes its a breeze
Take Prof Rudbeck, he is super engaging and makes class interesting! Attendance is optional, but he doesn't post notes so you either get them in class or office hours. Tests are open note on lock down browser. Grade consists of 3 tests and homework. Don't bother buying the textbook.
Genuinely the worst professor, do not take him. It was easy in previous semester but it's lockdown browser now. No slideshows and so much notes and he just can't teach well.
take this class! the content is honestly pretty interesting, and professor rudbeck is hilarious and makes the lectures entertaining. we always got out at least 5 minutes early. only down side is he writes the notes on a piece of paper during the class, so if you don't come to class, you can't find the notes anywhere. 3 open note tests
Professor Rudbeck was amazing! The content was so much more interesting than I was expecting. He is a hilarious guy and would always let us out at least 5 minutes early. I took paper notes and just copied exactly what he wrote during class. The tests are open notes straight from what he does in class so the tests ended up being pretty easy.
Rudbeck is hilarious. Class is only A, B, C, D, F (no + or -), 3 exams, little homework, and a final you can exempt if you like your grade. Exams are online, open paper not, lockdown browser with camera watching you. If you go to class and take notes, exam is very straightforward and you will do well. Attendance isn't mandatory though.
His tests are so hard but he does good about giving resources for help (Take advantage of his videos he posts with answer explanations). Lectures are very confusing and he does not explain concepts too well. Attendance is not mandatory though which is chill, and he is also nice and approachable. Tests are also on lockdown browser.
Funniest professor at UGA. Took him last semester in the mornings and it was a great wake-up class. Content is relatively easy (very easy if you've also taken any finance class) and he's just a lot of fun to listen to. Discusses current events as well, so a lot of ideas are at least conversationally applicable.
Tests are fairly hard and force you to really understand the material. Rudbeck is a nice guy and curves tests. Attendance is optional, but you need to go to class to do well. Use his homework questions and practice test answer videos and you will be fine on tests. Take Ward if you want an easier A, but Rudbeck to understand macro better.
Rudbeck is a pretty funny guy, and he made a class that I thought would be miserable be not so bad. As a non-Terry major the class was pretty difficult for me but he curves the tests and has a lot of resources to help out!
His teaching style is very free range. He literally writes notes in shorthand on printer paper. He is willing to help outside of class. The course subject was just difficult for me and I didn't understand his teaching style.
Rudbeck is hilarious and is pretty good at explaining things. Writes out what you should have in your notes in lecture and he cancels class the next session after tests. Tests are online with a lockdown browser—not terribly difficult but you really need to study. There is a textbook but you don't need it.
I loved him, he was so funny and very engaging lectures. I am normally awful at econ and this is my first time actually getting an A. No slides, you have to go to class to get the notes but it is not bad. He always curves the test which is nice. No +/- so a 90 is an A. You do have to read the textbook, but not bad mainly history.
Professor Rudbeck is funny and engaging, and even though his class had no attendance policy, most of the class still showed up every time because of how interesting his lectures were. The tests were hard, but if you went to class used the practice materials he offered, you could do well on them.
Rudbeck's tests are much more difficult than what he covers in class, this makes it hard to get an A since 90% of your grade is divided into 3 tests. He's really funny in class and gives great examples but his class is still pretty difficult, especially if you're not good at economics to begin with.
NGL. I literally went to class one time the whole semester, spent the week before the test reading the textbook, and finished with a B. He's a cool guy and I definitely recommend going to class. If I did I definitely would have had an A. He doesn't do +/- so be aware. An 89 is a B. But the textbook he uses is really helpful.
Dr. Rudbeck is a pretty good professor, but he doesn't post any notes online, so if you want them be prepared to go to class every day. This course is very test heavy so be prepared for that when you go into it.
Rudbeck is a great dude. Funny too. Only does A, B, etc so no + or - , but if you go to class and stay on top of keeping notes, the class is very manageable and you will learn a ton. Take Rudbeck.
Very knowledgeable about what he teaches, but does a poor job of explaining things sometimes. Willing to work with you and answer questions, but he's nearly impossible to contact outside of class. Notes are not provided after lecture, so be prepared to come to class. Extremely test heavy and the tests were hard in my opinion.
Rudbeck was awesome!!! If you do not attend class consistently this class will be horrible but his lectures are decently entertaining, so I did learn a lot. You can manage to get As on the test with some day before cramming for sure as long as you have a good foundation from lectures. He also applies a standard curve thing that brings average to 80
He makes the exams much harder than they need to be and the tests are nothing like the notes. Textbook is not very helpful at all. Majority of your grade is the exams. Doesn't post notes online. Enjoys teaching and is passionate about economics, but I wouldn't recommend him.
He's fine but he doesn't have power points and does the class notes on a camera in person so if you don't go to class you miss any information for that day. All tests are online but proctored. Optional final if you have an A, but he doesn't do plus minus. Ended with an 89.40 but got a B (3.0)
Nice guy but very ineffective professor. This is a lot of work for a summer class, and while he posts lots of content, his videos are difficult to listen too and the textbook (written by him) is constantly lacking deeper explanation. He only reviews underlying concepts when they appear in a question rather than teaching you how to recognize them.
easy and very straightforward. All the content is there. Great information. I dont like the software he uses, but to each their own. Econ is a very dry subject (to me) but this class was cool and pretty easy to grasp. I recommend taking the in person, as I fell behind for one week and catch up was HELL. super straightforward class
Reading the textbook and taking notes on the bolded terms is 20% of the tests. The other 80% is the economic models he shows in the lecture videos. You can use notes on the tests, so write down everything he does in the videos! For me it was a difference between a C on the first test and an A on the second.
the professor knew his stuff, but all of the lectures seemed to only halfway correlate to any of the test material, and there are a bunch of videos for his lectures (hours and hours). I thought this was going to be an easy summer class but it was definitely not. I didnt prepare extremely well for the exams, though, so maybe that was it
I thought this class was going to be a lot easier than it was. Not saying it is hard but if you are not willing to put in effort I would not take this. You have to read the textbook to do well and listen to all lecture videos. Exams are pretty hard but if you know your stuff you'll do fine. Allows you to exempt final, no plus minus system.
This class was great! Only complain was the grading scale, ended with a 89% but got a B. Great professor.
For being a summer class, this is pretty laid back and very manageable imo. the homework is easy as its unlimited attempts, and then two mid terms + optional final. Also he doesn't use a plus or minus scale which is great and he curves exams. Put in a little bit effort and you will get an A. Great professor. Great class.
This class was pretty easy! The grading criteria was clearly explained but I wish it was a +/- scale because I ended with an 88% which ends up being a B.
This class is HARD. I am a solid studier and do well in classes, but I am having a harder time in this class than in Accounting 2. Do NOT take this class expecting an easy A... and there isn't even a + - system. A 89.99 gets you a B. If there is an easier alternative for this credit, go for it. The only upside is his humor. RIP my 4.0.
I honestly love Professor Rudbeck, he's very interesting and funny, but this class was hard and I say that as someone who adores Econ. I always wrote down everything that he said in the notes, and it would make sense, and I never got above an 88 on a test, even though they're open note.
Genuinely an awful teacher in my opinion. there is NO reason for this class to be so hard lmao.
Probably my favorite professor at UGA. He's hilarious and genuinely very passionate about teaching and the subject matter. The tests aren't easy but he does an amazing job of explaining and modeling every concept he covers so if you pay attention and understand the material you'll love the class as much as I do. Would recommend 100%.
Hard class especially if you don't remember history from high school. Really funny professor who makes jokes that just about anyone can laugh at. Grades based solely on tests and homework (graded for completion - so basically just tests). Doesn't adhere to the +/- grade scale. Lets us out of class early :)
Awesome and very funny professor. Always let us out of class early. Biggest studying tip is to read over and know where everything is in your handwritten notes that you get from his in class lectures. Tests are not too bad if you go to class and study the material. Some questions on the test are not worded well and confusing. Overall, great guy!
Rudbeck is hilarious and gives great lectures. The course can be a bit challenging, but the tests are open-note and the homework is completion-based. If you go to class and take good notes, it's super easy to get an A. There are 3 tests worth 30% each and 3 homeworks worth 10% total. There is a final exam, but you can exempt it.
dont take him. I think people only found this class easy because there was no lockdown browser during previous years. way too much work for an elective class. His economics will also be inaccurate if you search it up, so you just have to learn econ the way he teaches it regardless of how accurate it is.
Rudbeck is an amazing professor. His class can be a little boring sometimes; however, he tries his best to make it light-hearted. Tests are online with lockdown browsers; however, they are open-note. If you attend class, take sufficient notes, and read some of the textbook, you will do well in this class.
He's funny and nice but honestly terrible at teaching. Grades are pretty much based on 3 exams which are lockdown + camera. For being an elective, this was a very hard class. If you're on the edge, I do not recommend this class in the slightest.
exams are online and open note but material is only through in person lectures so go to class if u dont wanna get lost, or read the textbook. hard to do bad on tests if u just know what to have on ur notes. if u have any basic knowledge of economics and us history its not that bad. prof is also funny but lectures are boring.
online open note tests are nice but needed more time but he is so funny and awesome!! no mandatory attendance
entire grade is like 2 tests that are designed to trick you. he does not prepare you for tests and they're based on weird applications/obscure exceptions to econ theory he never really taught. Wording on test was super unclear/confusing often. Also there's no +/- grading system, so an 80-89 is a B which seems a bit unfair. would not retake
Dr. Rudbeck is a great lecturer and makes the class very engaging. My only gripe with him is that there were no resources (videos or powerpoints) available on elc for those who had to miss class. 90% of the final grade is from tests.
EASY A... didn't attend class at all, homework is insanely easy. Tests are online, open book, open note. If you get anything less than an A it's not cause of the professor Rubeck. Take this class if you can. Super low maintenance.
Took the summer section of 2200. I found the class interesting and Rudbeck was always open to help, but the course assumes knowledge of lots of econ knowledge that I hadn't seen since high school - with no refresher. The textbook isn't a ton of help either but an A is definitely manageable if you study well.
I enjoyed Dr. Rudbeck's teaching style. I felt like it was easily digestible. Homeworks are graded on completion. However, 90% of your grade is 2 exams + an optional final. Exams are pretty hard and not similar to homework. I'd say it's pretty easy to get a B, but hard to get an A. Notes aren't posted, so if you miss class, go to office hours.
Rudbeck makes this class so much harder than it needs to be. Unless econ comes super naturally to you, a lot of the concepts in 2200 are difficult, and Rudbeck does not explain things well. Exams were lockdown browser w/ camera and were ridiculously hard. I would avoid if you can.
Rudbeck is a great teacher, but it can be hard to catch up since he doesn't post notes or slides. Most of the grade comes from curved multiple-choice exams, so lecture attendance helps a lot. The material draws from intermediate micro and statistics, which is helpful if you've taken those recently.
He doesnt use A-, B+, etc. so if you are at a 89 you are getting a B. He makes this class way harder than it needs to be and going to class doesn't really help. The exams used to be open note and open internet, but now they are on lockdown browser with a camera. Would take another Econ class if possible. But he is very engaging
